The Sultan of Sokoto and president general of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa'ad Abubakar III, has called on Nigerians to go get their voter's card ready to elect leaders of their choice in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.

According to the sultan, people can only have a say in what the leaders do, only by getting their voter's card, Vanguard reports.

Speaking on Saturday, March 3, during the closing ceremony of the 32nd National Qur'anic Recitation competition organized by Centre for Islamic Studies, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto and hosted by the Katsina state, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar said: "It is only through your voter's card that you can challenge your leaders and also have a say in what they do.

Also speaking, the governor of Katsina state, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, faulted the Almajiranci system. He said it has no basis in Islam.

"The practice of the Almajirai is far from being a reflection of Islamic ideals. The Almajirai are erroneously linked to Islamic education.

Aged between four and 15 years, the Almajirai are engaged more in seeking sustenance for themselves than in learning the Qur'an. They are exposed, exploited and abused and many of them become involved in crimes.

Islam does not encourage begging," Governor Masari said.

Amina Aliyu Mohd from Borno state and Amiru Yunus Guru from Bauchi state emerged as the overall winners in the competition which had about 250 reciters. They were awarded with brand new cars, Hajj seats and other cash donations.

Gombe state will be hosting the the 33rd edition of the competition slated for next year. In an earlier report, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) decried the lack of commitment by Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).

The Kogi state chapter of the association said it is worrisome that about eight million Nigerians are yet to collect their PVCs from many collection centres across Nigeria.

Daily Trust reports that the CAN chairman of the state chapter, Bishop John Ibenu, there is need for Independent National Electoral Commission to step up sensitisation campaign and enlightenment for the people.

it's freezing cold it's snowing outside and it occurred to me that many of my

students get confused with the word cold when they have to use it with the verb

to be as I am cold and the verb to have as I have a cold so what is the

difference well the first I am cold is a feeling I have on my body it makes me

shiver I don't feel very comfortable instead I have a cold that's when my

nose is all blocked and I feel really terrible I talk like this and yes it's

just maybe I have sinus trouble and they need to blow my nose a lot so that's

when you have a cold and sometimes you also get a temperature in fact I realize

that temperature is a very British word the Americans prefer to use fever so if

you have a cold you might also get a temperature so let's go back though to

the beginning when you want to say you're cold you can say I'm cold or it's

cold it's cold outside but you can also emphasize it and say it's very cold or

it's really cold now there's also the word which is rather British chilly

chilly is more or less an equivalent of cold but it gives a feeling of something

a little unexpected that I go outside and say oh it's rather chilly so it

could also be in midsummer when I think it's beautifully sunny and I haven't put

my cards going on and then I go out and say oh it's rather chilly so you don't

usually say it's very chilly but you can say it's rather chilly to give the

impression that it's not only cold but it's quite cold so you can say it's very

cold it's quite cold it's rather cold or I'm rather cold I feel rather cold but

you can also make it a bit stronger and say it's freezing cold or you can

abbreviate it and say it's freezing and you know that you intense cold also I'm

freezing means I feel really really cold and today that it's snowing I went

outside without my gloves because the weather has changed so rapidly I wasn't

expecting it and I haven't been used to this kind of cold weather for years it's

not ever got that cold and so I've got out of the habit of wearing my gloves

and I went out and it was freezing and I needed to sweep the snow off the path

and I didn't have any gloves on and I came in and I made myself a hot cup of

tea because that's just what I needed now when we talked about having a cold

so feeling terrible in that case we can say I've got a cold but you can also

emphasise it and say I've got a really bad cold I've got a bad cold or a really

bad cold I've got an awful cold I've got a really awful cold I've got a terrible

cold so we use all these words to emphasise how bad it is so let's

summarize I'm cold or it's cold

it's very cold it's really cold it's rather cold

it's rather chilly it's freezing or it's freezing cold

instead when you're not feeling very well you can say I've got a cold I've

got a really bad cold I've got a terrible cold and I've got an awful cold

those are the best expressions for when you're not feeling very well

you have to blow your nose and maybe you'll even have to sneeze hurt chew and

what do you say when someone sneezes bless you bless you okay so I hope this
