all right this is it the Hulkbuster Ultron Edition this is sort of like an
ultimate collectors series set but for Marvel similar to what they did for the
shield Helicarrier so for these big sets the first thing I
like to do is give you a better sense of the size and scale and this should help
with that looking at it on even level ground with just a regular minifigure
and the version of the Hulk Buster for the Avengers infinity war movie and this
one came in the Hulkbuster smash upset I no longer have the original Hulk Buster
that they did for the Hulk Buster smash set for Avengers 2 but the size of that
one overall is pretty much identical to this just has very slightly different
details this is however supposed to be that original mark 44 Hulk Buster seen
in Avengers 2 it's not what we're gonna see an infinity war if you have the good
fortune of living near a lego store though do not let the size of the box
for this thing fool you the finished product is significantly smaller than
the box makes it seem like it will be now the build for this thing is pretty
stout and I think it looks good from every angle or at least equally good
from every angle I was surprised that there aren't too many really surprising
building techniques used throughout this all the building techniques are pretty
straightforward except for this one right here used underneath the forearm
with the use of a recolored Star Wars right first-order riot trooper shield
actually used as a structural element to give us a bar to attach something there
so that's used in a few places throughout this build but most of the
build is I said just pretty straightforward which makes it easy to
put together in a good way and everything is pretty hassle-free
you know you don't have any any part of the assembly along the way that makes
you frustrated at least in my experience so this does not require a really
advanced builder you know anyone who can build like a 400 piece set should be
able to build this very easily without worrying
about any mistakes I think the most difficult thing is just getting the
stickers to go on correctly there aren't too many of them for the size of the set
it's actually a a fairly sticker you know sticker free build over most of
its surface but the stickers that are used are on clear backed vinyl so they
are the type that will get air underneath that you will see and corners
there if just from a little bit of Bend in the sticker sheet you know don't look
so great you have to be extra careful with those but you see what I mean about
this looking equally good from pretty much every angle I mean they fill then
even things like behind the the knee the knee caps you know from from the
opposite side of the knee and behind that the elbow here a lot of the little
details were filled in even some things that I feel weren't absolutely necessary
that just helped you know help with the overall look the only thing that I don't
like the main thing that I don't like about the look of this is just the the
obvious nosov the blue axial pins that just kind of scream at you at the front
everything else goes together well color wise all throughout with one other
exception that I'll show you in in just a minute now
poseability is a big thing for mechs and bots and action figures also this is
effectively a large action figure they've got a good thing going on for
stability with the use of some rubber tires on the underside so it's really
sitting or standing kind of on the balls of its feet those rubber tires stick out
just ever so slightly and they make it very secure so the the feet don't want
to slide out from the thing however you have the ability to tilt this forward
just a little bit tilt it back just a little bit you can splay the legs out
and in but that's about it for a leg articulation there's no niar ticular
whatsoever which i am generally Oh hey with as long as I'm able to put them
back into something that looks like a walking pose or you know some sort of
action moving pose but this doesn't really let you do that
the closest thing you can do with no ability to move at the knees limited
very limited ability to move at the ankles and no ability to move the legs
forward and back at all because of the double doubled up joints there that only
move on one axis when they're doubled that way the closest thing you can do to
make it look like it's walking is kind of cheat display one leg out a little
bit like this it does have waist articulation so that's good so you can
turn this and then turn the feet to try to make it look like it's moving that
direction but to me that just looks like it has stuck one leg out and has rotated
at the waist like it's just turning to look in that direction doesn't really
look like it's it's walking and I've kind of gone extreme with it here really
spreading things apart maybe used a little bit a little bit less to try and
make a little bit more subtle to me still looks like it's just turning like
it just rotated on the balls of its feet this is nice and smooth here and that
actually looks really good it looks pretty alive but as far as posing with
the legs beyond that not really good at least it doesn't want to fall over and
matter what this is a very heavy like it's a stout pretty solid build with a
lot of pieces layered on top of each other a very very little hollow space in
this at all so the stability is good but the woeful lack of articulation in the
legs in my opinion is pretty bad now the arms are not bad
arms you bring up and again with the stability even with the arm forward
it's not actually going to fall it can lean but you can counter that lean no
problem the arms go up and down you can also bring them out completely
horizontal go a little bit farther that but that's just the limit there they
have kind of these pauldron areas that can be rotated around so those will
always stay out of the way to worry about those limiting your range
of motion any of the range of motion there and then it also has the elbow
joints which are actually on ball joints but they have limited range which is
fine you know it kind of works in a realistic way and that goes pretty much
90 degrees almost 90 degrees there this comes up it comes out and just by moving
this little flap you get a little extra extension as well so that's that's
actually good I am 100% okay with the the arm articulation there and then for
the hands you just have three fingers and a thumb for each the thumb has a
good thing going for it they've used the relatively recent modified one by one
plate like this here they've used that at the base of the thumb so this is
actually able to rotate around a little bit so here it comes straight across and
then I can rotate it out just a bit doesn't go all the way but it's a lot a
lot more poseability a lot more different things you can do to just kind
of shape the grip a bit then the old normal style of always having it just
forced him and one location on one axis so that's a nice nice bit of thing and
as far as like being able to grab a figure but it doesn't really have any
any issue with that there are plenty of different ways that you can make that
work would be nice to be able to really rotate the wrist but it's not that big
of a deal to me personally now for this other hand here this has the alternate
or a secondary jack hammer style arm that gets sent down it's just you know
just the the option the in-universe option for it and this one has a
slightly different well fairly different build for the the main arm the main
lower arm section and here you just have the ability to move the fingers in and
out can't really rotate that much it just has a little bit of feature to
allow you to move that in now to create the jack hammer style effect you know
just for a little bit of of play value there which is which is okay it's I
think it's ski realistically enough and if you don't
like this style of arm they do give you a second or a matching mirrored version
of what we have here for just the standard arm on the right and I'll show
you that on the platform and a minute this set does have quite a number of
either rare colors or brand-new re colors that I personally have not seen
before and there are too many to lists so if you want to check those out
definitely have a look at the instructions and the parts list in that
which are should be completely available all around the web and for folks who
want to make custom builds I think that you'll find some some cool stuff in
there obviously the head is its own exclusive print and that is easy to lift
up to give you access to the operator's compartment in there which looks pretty
good got a couple of gunmetal gray modified 1 by 2 plates with the extended
bar rail on top and yeah it's just really easy to put a figure in there
because you just sit them down and there aren't even any studs to attach to it's
just a little cubby hole with with just Stiles zones very simple to do and
there's one other feature so this is one thing that I mentioned previously that
is a little bit off in terms of color there is a light brick in this and it's
orange so for the main arc reactor there's actually a light trance light
blue brick right there but the orange or yellowish orange color of the LED light
does not get defeated by that little bit of blue there so this just comes through
like so and I think that's just one of only two colors that they that they make
for that light to activate that they have just a little bit of flex that
they've allowed here in the assembly back here so you're just pushing on this
top part there are a couple of ratcheted hinge pieces there and it just leaves
just a little bit of room and you can see how that's being activated by just
pushing it in ever so slightly all of these white one by one
round tile pieces are also glow-in-the-dark
this platform build that's included with the set I think is much nicer than the
typical type of display stand that they'll do for the extra large and extra
expensive sets because it's tiled over on the top which gives you a lot of
surface area and they also have these kind of robot arms you know for assembly
and maintenance that have some articulation in them way more
articulation than the legs of the mech a yes so you can angle this around in
different ways and they also have you able to pull this out and put it into
different locations around to kind of simulate how these arms can move around
the central platform would have been even nicer to have and be able to slide
but I'm okay with that this just has a small clip at the end
which is effective enough to hold on to some of the major pieces like arms so
here's that spare arm just the regular harm to use as a as an alternate for the
left so you can kind of set this up to make it look like it's being not being
set up to be put on the ranges of motion for this or are somewhat limited but you
know at least for the sake of display you can get it where you want it and
it'll just hold because the level of friction is really good they also have
this smaller platform and you can put a figure up there like a Tony Stark if you
have one and this can also be moved around the thing it also has axles so
you can place it into the same places where the robot arms will go and you
just have a couple of stickers there is a very generous amount of space for a
minifigure again just for the sake of example yeah you can put several figures
up there if you want of course there's also the requisite 8 by 16 nameplate and
I mentioned before that the sticker sheet is clear backed that would have
made this piece very very cruel to set up had they not
additionally backed this with a full layer of black so fortunately none of
the clear stuff shows through here so this is really just as easy to put on
as any of them are with just a solid backing so no worries about air showing
through here just you know start from one edge get that lined up and then just
carefully start to burnish it down and this actually works out just fine
you can also angle this down to flat and I should mention that there are tires on
the underside of this as well the whole platform so it is kind of an anti-skid
thing itself like the feet of the whole buster they also include these three
smaller side builds with a very small scale version of Tony Stark's little hot
rod project it's basically tend to look like a model
and then a giant scale version of a fire extinguisher which which looks good but
I think it's scaled to be used by the Hulkbuster itself and definitely not by
a regular figure and then this last thing on the right is the Veronica
satellite re-entry module the part that you know this is a really small scale
depiction of it the whole thing that brings down the mark 44 system plus some
of the support drones for it and such so this is just a little
basically a display model of that so each of these things is done in a
completely different scale this is the Iron Man mark 43 armor from Avengers 2
but the figure itself is not recycled from the original Hulk Buster set they
did new prints for this with especially a lot more detail at the top part so
you've got some metallic printing in there as usual just there's just a lot
more really is just a lot more that that's done with this a lot more details
with a lot more smaller bits I actually rather liked the previous one that they
did and the simplicity of it but this does capture more of the details there
is no standard head under there though he's not a printed one they just have it
clear so there's no face whatsoever so it's not really a full eye
man it's just an Iron Man suit hmm does a interesting decision so you get really
no person in this set which is odd to me very odd good printing on this overall
but I think it would have been nicer to include a Tony Stark head you know at
least as an option instead we get this two-piece stand with a single sticker on
it to represent the placard for developing your own Hall of armors but
they only have just this one sticker not the rest of the series so it's really
just a standalone thing you know I think the Hulkbuster here is pretty cool it's
pretty cool to look at it was definitely enjoyable to put together and it's a
great parts back especially if you like dark red and gold to some extent the
price depart ratio on this is fantastic and the platform is generous the side
builds or so so the lack of the inclusion of Tony Stark or a sort of
actual human even a generic minifig head in there is weird
the lack of most leg articulation is most unfortunate the overall realism of
the design here if you go back and look at screenshots from the movie from
Avengers 2 is not as good as as I would have expected just the the proportions
this does not look as bulky at all yeah just some of the shapes aren't really
there I mean it looks great I think just as a standalone thing from any kind of
distance and from any kind of angle but if you compare it to the screenshots and
you're thinking hey let's look at this as a replica hmm definitely could have
been better and I think that's actually a perfect way to sum up my thoughts and
in the video this is not bad but definitely could have been better just
my opinion though as always of course feel free to disagree but I hope that at
least I showed you enough stuff here to help you to form your own
thanks for watching I'll talk to you in soon
you
