Of course...

How didn't I think of it? She could have posted something.

What is it? "Sometimes, no matter what you do, where you are or who you're with, you're all by yourself."

She posted it 10 minutes ago.

Ah, there's location, too.

Do you have some time?

- Well, I'm a bit busy, but go ahead. - I think there's been a mistake on your schedule for Monday.

Yes, that's what I'm trying to figure out.

I was about to say that I can attend the meeting, if it's appropriate for you.

I thought it would be right for me to take responsibility on this one.

And it would be better for me to be there while you're away,

at least we won't face with any undesired results.

You're talking about Rana, right?

For sure. I think I can handle this, at the end, I know what you would approve or not.

Motivation To Lose Weight And Exercise - Why You DON'T Need It! - Duration: 9:01.

Hey everyone, Carlo Macapinlac here from NewbieFitnessAcademy.com, I help busy professionals reach their fat

loss goals so they can feel more confident, be ready for any situation, and get the most

out of their lives. And in this video, I'm gonna show you why motivation is garbage if

you're trying to lose weight and exercise and I'm gonna show you what you need to

do instead. Before we get started, make sure you hit that subscribe button to get notified

every time I post a new video every week. Alright, let's dive in.

Okay, you probably clicked on this video looking for some motivational stuff. I mean, motivation

is everything. Right? At least, that's what everyone says.

One quick search on YouTube and you get 22 million hits on the word motivation. Everyone

including their dog has something to say about it.

Now, you probably already have all these great ideas in your head about what you're gonna

do once you finally have your dream body. But if you feel like you need motivation to

get you started, then you're doing it wrong. Let me explain. Let's use people making

New Years Resolutions for example. A quick search on Google on the term "New Year's

resolution" and you get over 500 million hits. That is mind blowing! But not surprising.

Everybody wants to start fresh and finally get after their goals at the beginning of

the year, right? It's finally time to make a change because that's when your motivation

is sky high. New year, new me. Right? My question is, what were all these people doing during

the other 364 days of the year?

Why wait so long? Why wait until January 1st? Here's a couple of interesting stats for

you. Did you know that over one-third of resolutions don't make it past the end of January? And

only 8% of people actually keep their New Year's resolutions. Which means that it

has a 92% failure rate. Not even one in ten make it. I'm not big on gambling, but those

aren't very good odds.

Why? Because people rely solely on motivation and will power to power them through their

goals. And that's great. The problem is, we only have a finite amount of it. Then it

runs out. And that's when things start to get interesting. Think about it. When your

motivation juices are running high, it's easy to get things done, right? Getting started

is always the easiest part. But what happens when your motivation runs dry after a few

days or after a few weeks?

Here's how it usually goes for a lot of people. It's January 1st. You're finally

ready to lose weight and get after that elusive six pack. So you look up the "best" diet

on the Internet or whatever fad diet is popular right now. You start buying $10 cold pressed

juice. By the way, who in their right mind pays $10 for juice?? You buy new gym clothes.

You sign up for a 1 year gym membership because it came with a free bag and a water bottle.

That's how they get you, right? And you're already thinking about booking a trip to Mexico

to show off your summer body. Things are going great. Right?

But then, one day, you're just having one of those really bad days. You know, everybody

has them. Maybe you had a long day at work and your boss yelled at you. Maybe somebody

brought treats to the office. Maybe your dog ate your favourite workout shirt. You know,

you just don't feel like going to the gym after work. And this eats away your will power.

All of a sudden, it's not so easy to stick to your diet anymore. You start getting demotivated,

and this is the beginning of the end. This is when people start to fall off the wagon.

The next day, you start going out for lunch instead of eating your home cooked meal. You

start going to the kitchen office more often because that's where the free donuts are

stashed. You start to find every reason on the planet to skip the gym because you're

just not feeling motivated that day. That cheat meal you had for lunch turns into a

cheat day which quickly turns into two cheat days. Next thing you know, you're having

a cheat week and you're completely off the wagon and you're back to square one. Raise

your hand if you've ever found yourself in that situation before. By the way, if you

wanna know how to quickly get back on track after a cheat meal, I have a separate video

that talks about it and I'm gonna put the link for it in the description box.

Going back to falling off the wagon here, this is why you shouldn't rely on sheer

motivation and willpower alone. Listen, everyone has good days and bad days. But your actions

shouldn't always just be dictated by how motivated you're feeling that day. Here

is the plain honest truth about it. Nobody's gonna feel sorry for you that you're

having a crappy day, and you have no willpower, and you just wanna eat a tub of ben and jerry's

to make yourself feel better. It's what you do on the days when you don't feel like

sticking to your plan that matters the most. That's when it really counts. Life happens.

I get it. I really do. We all have stuff to deal with. But that's where discipline and

having a proven plan to follow comes in. Discipline is knowing the difference between what you

want now and what you want the most.

And being disciplined comes from having a strong why. Why are you doing this to begin

with? What's your biggest reason for wanting to change? For me, it was during a time when

I got laid off from my my engineering job and my girlfriend at that time dumped me.

Talk about a perfect storm. I felt sorry for myself and over time, I just got to a point

where I got sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. So I changed. What about you? What's

your why? I'd love to know.

Now, being disciplined repeatedly over time develops consistency, and consistency brings

results. Let me repeat. Consistency and staying disciplined over time is what gets you results.

Not the motivational video that you've seen a thousand times. This part is so important

that even if you have the best diet and the best workouts on the planet but if you're

not disciplined and you don't stay consistent, you're not gonna get sustainable results,

I promise.

For example, you didn't sleep well the night before and you're not having a good start

to your day. Maybe you got a flat tire on your way to work. That's a pretty easy excuse

to just eat crap and start over tomorrow, right? We're so emotionally attached to

food, it's not even funny. We love to use food to make ourselves feel better. And hey,

there's always tomorrow, right? But it's what you do today despite how you feel that

will eventually bring the results you want. That's where discipline and consistency

come into play. Listen, you can't have one bad moment ruin your day. You're better

than that.

Here's a very important concept that you need to understand. Change takes time. Getting

a six pack is a process, but the most important part IS the process. The execution is where

the magic happens. Learn to love the journey. There's always a lesson to be learned in

every situation. I mean, it probably took you months, if not years, to get to where

you're at today. Right? So you shouldn't expect to just change completely overnight.

I mean that doesn't even make any sense. There's no shortcut to all of this. There

just isn't.

What you wanna do is strive to be better every day, not just at the beginning of the year

when you make your New Year's resolutions. And stop watching that motivational video

for the 100th time. You don't need it. You'll gonna learn and progress so much

faster if you just take action, make adjustments, and figure things out along the way. Are you

gonna mess up? Probably. But that's okay. It's better than getting stuck in research

mode and not taking any action at all. Focus on progress over perfection. Just remember,

you don't need any more motivation. What you need is a solid plan and the knowledge

to act, regardless of how motivated you are.

Okay, the next question then becomes, how are you actually supposed to eat in order

to lose weight? Do you have a proven plan that you can follow? To help you with that,

I wanna give you a free copy of my Lean Body Blueprint. This is how I melted all the fat

around my stomach and turned it into a six pack without going on a crazy diet or wasting

hours at the gym. It's a simple 4 step process specifically designed for busy professionals

and it's the exact same blueprint that I teach all my private coaching clients and

they've all gone to see some amazing results. If you want to be the next success story then

download your free copy of the lean body blueprint right now. There's gonna be a link in the

description box. Just click on it, type in your email, and I'll send it to you right

away. Alright, that's all I've got. Keep being awesome. Give this video a thumbs up

if you enjoyed it and share it with your friends. Please subscribe to my channel if you haven't

Discussing the Risks of Pregnancy with Advanced Maternal Age - Duration: 5:36.

Hello, I'm

Dr. Norbert Gleicher. I'm the

medical director and chief scientist at the Center for Human Reproduction. I

want to talk to you today

about the risks of getting pregnant at older ages--let's say between 45 and 50.

That obviously includes, first and foremost, the risk of NOT getting pregnant.

That risk is

obviously quite high

if a woman at those advanced ages works with her own eggs.

If

donor eggs from 20-year old egg donor are used,

then pregnancy chances are obviously very high.

And therefore, for patients in this older age group,

there is a very difficult

decision to be made between

relatively small chances with use of their own eggs and

much better chances with donor eggs.

But this is really not the main theme of what I wish to address today.

What I really want to talk about are the risks of getting pregnant at an older age. And in general,

all risks of pregnancies

increase with advancing maternal age. It doesn't matter what the risk is.

Uniformly, every single risk gets bigger as women get older.

You may have read recently in the lay press

that a study was published

which demonstrated the significant increase in myocardial

infarctions, heart attacks, in women

who go through pregnancy.

That is very likely the result

of older women in larger numbers going through pregnancy. And it is just one example

of

what happens or what can happen

when older women are trying to carry a pregnancy.

Now, I do not want you to misunderstand what I'm saying here.

The fact

that all

medical risks increase as women get older does not mean that they increase to a level

that necessarily

prohibits older women from getting pregnant or should prohibit older women from even trying to get pregnant.

That is by no means

what I'm trying to say,

but what I am trying to

communicate here is the fact that

once a woman decides to go through pregnancy at an older age,

we have to be more careful

in assessing whether

this patient is

still suited

physically (as well as mentally)

to go through the stress of pregnancy. And pregnancy is a stress on every organ in the body

including

the skeleton.

Spinal problems increase in pregnancy.

Problems with joints increase in pregnancy, and of course

medical problems in general do.

We, therefore, here at CHR and many of our colleagues, after age 45,

do a much more

detailed diagnostic workup on patients before

we take them into treatment.

Once again, this does not mean that if you have

a medical problem you are automatically

disqualified from going through pregnancy.

What it means is that if you do have a medical problem,

we rather know about this before you get pregnant so that we can make the necessary

preparations and be ready should this medical problem cause

some difficulties during pregnancy. But one thing we do not want to happen to you, as

well as to your physicians (and that will not be us

because by the time you're pregnant you're under the care of an obstetrician and advanced ages usually under the care of a high-risk obstetrician),

We do not want our colleagues to be surprised

because then you usually run behind the problem. We like to run ahead of the problem. And

therefore, it is so important that we assess

our patients' well-being and advanced ages before

we have them conceive.

Thank you.

What Can You do to Increase Your Chances of Success in Fertility Treatment? - Duration: 8:51.

Hello,

I'm Dr. Norbert Gleicher. I'm the medical

director of the Center for Human Reproduction and it's chief scientist. I

want to talk to you today

about an issue that we are very frequently asked about and that is, what can you, as the patient, on your own

do

to help in your treatment to conceive? And

honestly speaking,

there's not very much you can do beyond

following the medical advice that you are receiving, whether it's CHR or at another

fertility center. In principle,

at least here at CHR, if there was or if there is something you may be able to do,

we would obviously tell you.

But let me explain a few

principles that may help you a little bit along the way. And the first principle

relates to the concept of inflammation.

Inflammation means

not that you have a particular disease.

Inflammation in many cases

(even though inflammation can be associated with certain diseases mostly autoimmune diseases),

but inflammation can also be present on its own. For example, if you are significantly overweight,

it is

quite likely that you will show elevated

inflammatory markers. And you may have

elevated inflammatory markers even if you are very skinny, but if you, for example,

experience certain allergies or

certain intolerance towards foods,

that is indeed a very important point.

When patients ask me about, "What can I do to help?" my next question to them is usually,

"How is your diet?

Do you exclude certain foods?

Are there certain foods that give you excessive flatus (gas), or cramps, or make you feel

unwell? Are you excluding, therefore, certain foods? And if you do, then there is a possibility

that you have a

sensitivity towards these foods. The most frequent

food is obviously gluten

or dairy products. Many people don't tolerate either of these very well.

Not tolerating well gluten does not necessarily mean that

one suffers from celiac disease (even though that is obviously also a

possibility),

but gluten

sensitivity or

sensitivity to other foods

can elicit in the bowels an

inflammatory response. And that inflammatory response

can also lead to what has become kind of a

popular word in the lay press, the so-called, "leaky bowel syndrome." And

that can enter into a kind of vicious cycle where one thing

increases the other.

You eat bad foods, you get inflammation. You get leaky bowel syndrome, leaky bowel syndrome gives you more inflammation,

Etc, etc. So if you do have

gastrointestinal

problems,

then we do recommend that you go on an anti-inflammatory diet and

that

usually means to try to be gluten free,

dairy free, and

to significantly reduce sugars

in your diet.

Otherwise,

there is very little you can do by taking huge amounts of supplements

or

changing your life pattern. We indeed usually recommend not to change

life habits while in infertility

treatments because that just further increases

the already elevated stress levels that every infertility patient is exposed to.

Sticking to your routine, whether it is your work routine whether it is your exercise routine or any other routine,

is usually a much better approach.

There are also lots of rumors out there about

what one should not do. And most of these rumors

have really no data to support them. In other words,

there is, in our opinion, nothing wrong with having a glass of red wine once or twice a week.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having a cup of coffee or two

while you're getting pregnant.

We of course do not want you to use drugs.

And we of course

greatly prefer it if you don't smoke. Finally, one more word about supplements.

Supplements are medications.

They can

do what medications do, which is

interfere with each other. And indeed, supplements can also interfere with

prescription drugs and visa versa.

Therefore, the

concept that

a drug-- just because it's considered the supplement and does not require

a prescription-- is

totally and necessarily innocent and cannot cause problems is not the correct concept.

And we therefore do not promote

excessive supplement use. If you take a prenatal vitamin,

you will be covered from the vitamin point of view perfectly. The only other supplements we in principle

recommend , unless there is a

defined and proven deficiency of course.

The only supplements that CHR usually recommends is

in older women and women with low ovarian reserve, the hormone DHEA

or

testosterone.

We prefer DHEA over testosterone and

in both female and male infertility,

the

antioxidant

CoQ10.

We have excessively in our video collection addressed

those medications and therefore here will here not be repeated.

Other

supplements including additional vitamins to routine prenatal vitamins, which are

multivitamins, are really not necessary unless you have a specific

deficiency, So if you are, for example, if your vitamin D level is low, then we

recommend that you take extra

vitamin D.

The same applies to other vitamins. But we do not

recommend that you, just because you're trying to get pregnant ,suddenly run around with a big bag full of

different supplements. I hope this short advice helps you.

Why Wait? Leander's Story - Duration: 1:51.

[♫]

My family--we come from a strong, traditional Navajo culture.

The kind of advice that the women in my family gave is usually like:

you're gonna do it like this, and this is gonna be the outcome.

Inbetween there, it's really up to you.

Having that strong maternal lineage-- that was the kicker to where I am today.

[♫]

I was a master resiliency trainer for the Army.

And so I used to teach different ways of coping with hardships

and you know, being that resilient person.

Being empathetic, being understanding of soldiers.

With us here at Green River, within our department the Completion Center

I think that listening to your student

is the best way to understand where they're coming from.

I've been in your shoes at one point or another.

There's times when I felt like, you know,

level zero, you know, I was down at the bottom.

But we have to face these barriers, we have to face these obstacles,

we have to face these hardships straight on.

And I feel like I have the experience to help them do that.

[♫]

When I'm thinking about goals and accomplishments and being successful

I think about the question: why wait?

Time is very valuable to us.

And as long as you keep that ball rolling, success is going to get closer.

So that's my overall question, is why wait?

Here's how you will fail innovation (2/3) (Innovation for scientists) - Duration: 11:46.

Now something else: do not fool yourself with the level of protection a patent

can bring to your project. Let's say that you have a good and solid product, system,

and you have a good and solid patent. If a big shark, a big player wants to

develop the similar solution and quite clearly infringe your patent, you could

have the right and the law with you, but what you will do when ten lawyers will

be in charge of fighting your claims and make you days so terrible, and make you

spending so much of money with your own lawyers that, at the end of the day, all

your money for your business project will be just used to protect your invention.

So, you know, when big players are involved and if they don't play by the

rules, it's very difficult to really fight them and usually it's better to

try to come to an agreement. Now it's step four. You have

protected your invention and now you need a plan... The plan to develop your

invention and to reach the market, to commercialize it.

Still you ask people who know about what you should do and everybody will tell

you that you must have a business plan. And they asked you about your business

plan... What is your business plan? Can you provide your business plan? And the first

problem is you have no idea initially if you are not in business, what is a

business plan! So, a business plan is kind of roadmap that will pave the way for

the next two-five years, where you explain how you will develop, how

many people you will hire, how much it would cost, revenues you will

generate based on that. So, it's really something that tells you and tell

every anybody else what are your plans for the next two to five years. And here,

it's the second big mistake. First, as I told you, you don't know what

is a business plan and you don't know how to build a business plan. So, you can

easily find templates on the Internet of business plans that are different, and

start to fill them but most of the items of the business plan... first you don't

know what they mean! Secondly, you... basically at this stage, you

don't know what your final product, even your first prototype will look like. You

don't know who will buy your system, your solution, your product. So, you have no

information about this and then you are building a business

that you have no clear knowledge of, based on requirements that you have no

information of. So, it's clearly building a project, a roadmap on the

water. And this is something that happens quite frequently. I applied to a

proposal, to a program for research and development about technology where

initially, you must present a technology which is just at the level of the

laboratory scale. And in the same proposal, you must justify how many

millions of dollars you will make nationally or worldwide within 5, 10, 15

years... So, this is the problem where actually you will waste time creating

something that people ask you, where you have absolutely no knowledge of, and no

information on the way you can provide realistic numbers to justify something.

And that will be one of the big mistake you will do. And you do it

because you just follow these logical steps, which is... people will ask you very

soon about your business plan. OK, at this stage you could tell me right the

business plan is useless but what I'm supposed to do if someone, an agency or a

company asked for a business plan. First,

the business plan is not of course completely useless. It's important when

you start to have some elements. So, before creating a business plan, there will be

some other things you'll have to work on, and one is your business model. A business

model is different and you can actually create a business model in an hour.

Secondly, the business plan is something you must provide at a given

development stage of your project, your company, research program... when it makes

sense. And it's kind of useful/useless document. It's useless because nothing

will go according to the plan, but it's useful because as you created it, you must

think about different aspects of your project, especially the financial aspect

and the development. And this makes you thinking about how you plan to develop

the actual business. So this is why it's a useless/useful document: useless by

itself and useful by the fact that you must think about some important facets of

your project.

Step 5: now you have everything apparently. You have protected your

innovation with a patent, you have created a business plan that will

explain what you will do within the next two-five years, how you will spend money,

who you will hire, or how you will generate revenue. So, you have a solid

plan and it's time to present this to people willing or eager to give you

money, to support your development. There are two types: the first are the

different funding agencies. For the funding agencies, first you have to check

something, very important. How your project in terms of scope and in terms

of technology development, fits with the scope of the program of the funding

program itself. If it doesn't, don't waste your time applying because the answer

will be "No". Secondly what the funding agencies will do when you apply, will be

to check who you are. Are you a good scientist? Do you have students? Do you

publish a lot? Basically, are you famous? And they will check for your reputation.

So, if you are well known, the chances to be successful will be higher. There is

something that will help you clearly to go through the reviewing process, and

approval process from funding agencies. If you can demonstrate that there will

be a partner, or private partner, a company, an industry willing to put cash in your

project, even if the agency initially doesn't ask for it! Because that's a way

to say that... or to to approve the credibility of your

proposal. Now, the second type of partners or investors... investors are special...

But partner for developing your project are companies in industry with different

types of business. And here, you have another problem because as a researcher,

scientist, engineer, you developed something you are very proud of it, you

think it's new, it's what you call your innovation, and this is something that

should be developed! And you try to get some meetings, and you have meetings with

people in the different industries. And as a good researcher driven by logic you

explain! You explain what was the problem, how you solved it, the steps, and all the

components of your solution... and why they are new... etc. etc. That... you will

notice that very soon, you will... you are speaking to people who have almost no

interest to understand how your system works. And they have mostly two questions:

how much it will cost to start the production, to develop it? And what will

be the revenue that you will generate within one year, two years etc. And you

see that, or you will see that the more you try to explain the less they seem to

be interested...

Here's how you will fail innovation (1/3) (Innovation for scientists) - Duration: 8:38.

Today, I'd like to speak about the eight logical steps that will lead to failure

in innovation.

As researchers, we have been told that innovation is the natural evolution of

our research when we discover something. In a way, we believe that

innovation is a kind of combination between research or discovery and

commercialization. We know about research, we know about discovery, but we don't

know nothing about commercialization. This is why we try to identify, based on

what we are told, what should be the logical path from discovery to

innovation -means commercialization-. In this logical path, we can identify eight

steps, each making perfect sense. So we will follow these eight steps that are

totally logic, that will really should take us from the initial starting point:

we discover something; to the final point, which is: we commercialize our innovation.

But indeed, what will happen is that these eight logical steps will take us

not to success but most probably to failure! So, in the following, I will

review these eight steps, we will see how they make sense and we will see why, at

the end of the path, we shouldn't meet success but instead, we should meet

failure. So, I'm assuming that you're a researcher, and engineer, a PhD student or a

postdoctorate. If you are already in business, you won't probably learn too

many things here because you know them already.

So, please feel free to leave, while you can stay if you want to learn how

scientists use to think... Now, you are a researcher, you're an engineer and you

know how to build a research project and create logical path that will allow you

to achieve your goals. Something else you know also is, as a

scientist, as a researcher, as an engineer, you are expected to develop your

research project in order to find something, to discover something. So, we

can define "step one" as the research you are doing because you want to find

something, you want to discover something. We'll see in the following how we can

take this something and convert it into what we call innovation. Step two: you

have discovered something. So, now, your problem, your challenge is to bring this

something to real life. What do we call real life? Basically, we say that

it's being able to commercialize it, or to find an industry or a company who will

support the development and commercialization. Usually, this doesn't

work very well. This is why people usually say that researchers are good at

innovation because they manage to find things, to discover stuff, but they are

not very good at commercialization because they don't manage to

commercialize what they have discovered. Now comes step three: you have discovered

something and you want to use it in your innovation. In order to commercialize

it, you must do something but you don't know what to do so because you're not a

businessman, you don't know what are the steps, the strategy. Of course, first thing first,

you go to your institution and ask them for advice, which is a right thing to do.

Most of the time, the institution will tell you that first, before entering any

discussion, you must protect what you have discovered. You have two options now.

Either you want to use your discovery and create your own company, or you want

to find partners, investors who will help you to develop it. To have a solid ground

for negotiation with investors, with industry, you are told that you must

protect your discovery. And you will, or your institution will invest like twenty

thousand dollars to file for a patent. This seems totally logical: you find

something, you want to expose and disclose it... you need to protect it!

This seems very, very logical but this is actually the first big mistake! Why?

Because when you protect and you file a patent first that will cost money at a

step where you don't have a lot of money. And when you do that, you freeze your...

let's call it... your invention. And your next steps will be to go with this

patent and try to convince partners to join your project.

But actually, the initial results, the initial discovery, it's never... not even

the final product! It's never even the first proof-of-concept you could develop

when you really want to develop the innovation out from this result. So you

would be stuck with the patent, with the design, the state of the art you

have protected, and you will try to sell it to investors, to industry, to companies

while you should be better in the lab, in your office, trying to improve it in ways we

will see after, to really come with something that will be the real

innovation. Doest it mean that you shouldn't protect it? No probably!

There's something you can do more easily by filing a provisional patent, even

copy your lab book and some notes and results, and put them in the sealed

envelop and give them to a lawyer. That will be largely enough in case there's

some competition and challenge to demonstrate that you were aware of the

prior art of it.
