Waching daily Nov 29 2018

this week I'll show you how I set up my Sony a7iii for photography

now a few of you have been asking for some help in setting up the cameras for

photography these cameras are pretty amazing in the

way that you can customize them so much so in no way is this the best way to set

up your camera I've just found it's a way that works well for me you may find

that programming different buttons in different ways works better for you but

that's the great thing with these they're so customizable when I'm taking

photographs I'm normally in aperture priority mode or manual mode when things

are changing fast in front of me or our shooting sports or fast-moving subjects

I'll have it in aperture priority this is a kind of semi-automatic mode and it

means I'm utilizing the function of the metering system in the camera I'm

choosing what aperture I shoot at and then the cameras choosing anything else

if I don't like how the cameras chosen the shot I can very quickly dial it in

using my exposure compensation dial when things are more controlled I'll switch

over to manual mode say if I'm shooting architecture landscapes or portraits

basically in situations where I have time to change the settings or I have

complete control over the lighting situation

I'll always shoot in manual then I can tweak and tune each setting to exactly

where I want it so that's how I shoot now I'll show you in the menus how I set

everything up I am a hybrid shooter so I do shoot a lot of video as well as

photographs so there will be certain settings that are for both but most of

my settings are set for photography I'll also briefly explain why I change

certain parameters so I'm in the menus I'm on tab 1 and we're going to start on

these file format I keep it too raw if you were a little bit intimidated by

Rahl have it on raw and JPEG but if you're editing in any kind of editing

software like Lightroom keep it on raw learn how to develop those pictures the

raw file type are kicks are compressed and then I don't worry about JPEG

quality or image size because I'm not shooting JPEG yes pick ratio I keep two

three two two instead of sixteen by nine three by two just a nice shape to the

image ApS super 35 that's a crop mode I only

really use that for video long exposure noise reduction I keep this off this is

really irritating when you're doing astrophotography and you take a shot

because it doubles the time if you're taking a shot for a minute

you'll have to wait another minute if you want to see my video on a long

exposure noise reduction click on the I in the corner a color space I keep -

srgb with the drive mode I have it on the

button here but this is where to find it in your menus this is where you just

change from single shot to multi shoot high burst setting and bracket shootings

and things like that next one is bracket settings this is where you can have a

delay on the bracket and you can also choose what order the brackets are going

to be in if you're not sure what bracketing shots is click on the I on

the corner this will take you to one of my videos this next setting I don't use

this memory one and memory two that's the one and two on your mode dial the

reason I don't use this is say if I'm shooting throughout the day what I'll

find is if I've recorded those settings in the morning it may change till the

afternoon so say if I'm shooting a number one and I switched back to number

two for whatever reason the settings might have changed and if I'm in a high

pressured environment I might not notice that the settings have changed slightly

or I'll take a few shots and it might be under or overexposed

I prefer to change the settings as I'm going along so I ignore those memory

settings the next one the focus modes this is where you choose between single

shot auto focus and continuous there are other modes to this but I tend to use

either single shot or continuous shooting the next two the priority set

in AFS with priority set in AFS I have it set to AF this means the camera won't

take a shot until it's got focus when you're in AFS or you're taking a single

shot so you want the focus to find a point and stick to it

you need that focus point before taking a photo so this kind of makes sense with

the AFC I tend to have this on balanced emphasis because normally if I'm in a

King mode and I'm on autofocus continuous I'm following something maybe

a motorbike rider or a car or a subject that's moving towards me normally then

I'll have it in a high-speed drive mode and I'll want the camera to take as many

shots as possible if you have this set to AF and the autofocus kicks out a

little bit it'll stop in the drive mode so you'll kind of miss a few photographs

and it'll be quite jerky and stuttering so you I keep AFS on auto focus priority

and I have a FC on balanced emphasis the next one is focus area I keep this on

flexible spot I just like having the focus point where I want it and when you

use this in conjunction with the touchscreen it works really well with

the focus settings we'll go into that in a bit

this just means you move your Square and then if you control your dial you turn

those I have it set to this middle button so when I press that that's my

focus settings this SWT vertical horizontal auto focus area when you have

this turned on it means you can set a focus area for when you're in portrait

mode and when you're in landscape mode I don't worry about this too much I've

been shooting with cameras for so long that I know whether your auto focus

point is and I'll just keep it in that point AF illuminator that's that orange

light on the front so if you're shooting in low-light conditions it'll throw a

bit more light in so the camera will be aided in getting auto focus sense lot

auto focus I keep that off I don't shoot weddings so I don't worry too much about

this say if I'm doing a portrait shoot I might turn this on but I keep that off

the track sensitivity I've got it on number five and then this bottom one

what I focus with shutter I keep this off I'll use back button focusing so my

focusing is on this back button and I just literally use the shutter button to

take the photograph and set my auto exposure when I'm in the more automatic

modes like aperture priority I'll keep the auto focus away from the shutter

button and I'll put it on one of the buttons on the back this is just a

system I've got used to and I really like it if you're interested in back

button focusing click on the eye in the corner this will take you to one of my

the pre-order focus I keep this off this just means when your cameras just sat

there it'll track and autofocus and it'll focus on what's in the in the

focus square but the problem with this is if say you're focusing square is on a

white wall it may track around a little bit so I just keep this off and I just

want it to focus when I tell it to I don't worry about these border focus

areas yeah I don't worry about any of that micro just I think this is more for

when you're using the a mount lenses so I don't worry about that I use the

exposure compensation dial up on the shoulder so I don't worry about these

this is where you would change the exposure compensation in the menu I

program my ISO on this back dial so this is again just where to get to it in the

menus ISO is one of your three main settings that will control how the photo

looks therefore I want quick and easy access to it I'll show you how to set

this up in the custom menus I normally keep my metering mode to multi and

sometimes I'll use spot standard but most of the times I'm in multi metering

mode it does a really good job and say if you're shooting in aperture priority

you can then use your exposure compensation dial if it doesn't quite

hit the mark of where you want the photo to be face priority in multi meter mode

I have this on what this does is prioritize the person's face if there

are any faces in the shot spot metering points I keep this to focus point link

so when I'm using the flexible spot what it'll do is wherever that flexible spot

is when you're using spot metering it'll take a meter from where that focusing

point is so say if I'm focusing on someone's face it'll take the meter off

that face but this is in spot metering only I quite like that function next we

go to exposure step I always keep this on a third of a stop what this means is

whenever you click your shutter your aperture or your ISO dial

every three klicks in one direction will change it by one stop whether it's an

increase or a decrease in a stop of light this means I can feel my way

around the camera so say if I'm changing my aperture I know three clicks will

change it by one stop if I'm changing my ISO three clicks on the dial will change

it by one stop next auto exposure lock with shutter I have this on it just

means when I half press my shutter button the auto exposure will lock now I

don't really use flashes and when I do I have them in manual mode so I don't

worry about any of this next we've got white balance normally I'll have my

white balance on daylight I've just got it set to cloudy because it's very blue

in here when you're filming the back of a camera I don't use auto white balance

so I don't worry about that I have dr io set to OFF creative style

that's just something that's baked in the JPEG so I don't worry about that

either pix profile I keep that off that's more for filming say when I am

filming I'll use the pro color pack from Andrew read and EOS HD I have all of

those settings programmed in there but when I'm taking photographs I keep the

picture profile off if you do shoot JPEGs the picture profile is something

that you can change the look of the shot with but again I prefer shooting in RAW

and I'd say if you want to get as much information out of the camera as

possible shoot in raw and then really refine your photos in an editing program

like Lightroom next we have the focus magnifier basically what this is is this

little box that you can zoom in and get critical focus I switch the focus

magnifying time to no limit the initial focus magnification two times one and

then I have auto focus in focus magnification on with a manual focus

assist I switch this off basically what manual focus assist does

is if I switch it on I'll show you if I switch to manual focus and I start using

the focus data it seems in automatically that's manual

focus assist I don't like that I prefer to keep that off so when I'm turning the

focusing dial it stays on the full frame then if I need to I'll hit the

magnification tool to get zoomed in you may like this option I don't next we

have focus peaking this basically is what that red color was on the screen

when I was manual focusing I have it on I have it mid and I have it red so you

can see the red lines around that little speaker if I change to here you can see

the red lines around that and if I change the cup you can just about see a

red tint on the edge focus peaking is really good when using vintage lenses or

manual focus lenses only it really helps get that focus next we have anti flicker

shoot I'll kick this off I don't really shoot under fluorescent lights this is

something you might have to experiment with if you do shoot under fluorescent

but I don't so I keep it off I don't really register faces in it

either maybe if you're shooting weddings you might want to register the bride's

face that's up to you I don't really do that next we're on to movies don't worry

about those not shooting movies or we're not talking about video functions at the

moment silent shooting I kicked it off unless

I'm shooting in something like a church or a place where it's really sensitive

to sound but I'll keep that off I kind of like the clicking of the camera I

know I've taken a shot be front curtain I'll keep that on release without lens I

enable this I use manual focus lenses a lot so you need to enable this if using

a manual focus lens otherwise it won't take a photograph

release without card I disabled this I've had a couple of times before all I

set this where I'd start on a shoot I'd start taking photographs

I'd be 5 or 10 photos in and then I'll realize that I

don't have a card in the camera so if you set this to disabled it means the

camera won't take a picture and it'll actually flash up a warning saying that

there's no card in the camera but it won't let you take a photograph with a

steady shot I keep that on steady shop settings I have it to auto

when using native lenses when using manual lenses it'll switch to manual

automatically and then you just need to change this to the focal length that

you're at but I have a native lens on there now so I'll keep it to auto the

zoom settings that's more for movie settings with this Display button this

is what's displayed on the back of the screen and in the EVF so on the monitor

I have display all info no display info histogram and levels with a finder I

have levels histogram no display and display all info so all this means is if

you hit the UP button on this dial on the back you can see it Scrolls through

different things from the leveling function through to all information no

information and then the histogram find a monitor I keep this to manual so I'll

switch between the monitor and the viewfinder you'll see later on in the

menus which button I set it to with the zebra settings I've done a video on

zebras already so click on the I on the corner if you want to see that video see

these zebras that's what zebras are it just shows what might be overexposed but

as I said if you want to learn about zebras click on the I in the corner with

a grid line this is where you'll set it to whatever grid you want it over it as

you can see on my screen I've got the rule of thirds grid this is just a

gentle reminder of where I'm putting my subject so I can follow the rule of

thirds if I need to exposure set guide I'll keep this off live view display I

have this setting on what this basically is is as it's an electronic viewfinder

and it's a monitor and it's mirrorless it shows you what the vote

is gonna look like before you take it if you're using a flash and you've got

really low ambient light this is what you'll want to turn off but I keep it on

when I'm not using the flash continuous OOP length all this does is kind of show

a little display on the side where it would kind of show if the buffers full

or not so if you click on always display when we have it to drive mode see this

little line here can't really see it that little line next to manual focus

when you shoot as you can see as the buffer fills up it drops down but I have

that set to not displayed auto review this is where if you want to see the

image on the back of the camera after you've taken it because we have that

live view I keep this off with this camera you see the photo before you've

taken it so you know exactly what it looks like now we're on to the custom

keys this top one is for photographs the next one is for video and this one is

for playback so we'll just be focusing on this one for now and this is where I

set all the custom keys like C 4 C 3 C 2 and C 1 as well as this back dial and

also this button here F on and the AEL they're all programmable control wheel

is IO so I like to have ISO on this back dial shutter speed on this top dial and

aperture on the front dial by the shutter button it just means I have

direct control of all those three settings custom button one I have focus

mode that's up on the shoulder here custom button - I have white balance I

used to shoot with the gh4 and the white balance was up there so I've kind of got

used to it being their custom button 3 this button here I set to aps-c 35 mode

I do this because I'm a hybrid shooter so when I'm shooting like 4k videos I

want to very quickly switch between the two I could program it differently for

stills but I don't there's so many customizable buttons on this camera that

I don't really use them all so in being a hybrid shooter I have that

set of that so we can change it to what you want custom button fall is this bin

down the bottom I have it set to auto focus manual focus controlled toggle so

as I'm pressing that button I can switch between horror focus and manual focus

that's very quick and I know it's there I just remember it's there and that's

the button I use now and to be honest that's the great thing with these custom

buttons you can program them to whatever you want these are just the ones that

work for me on the next one we have the multi selector center button that is the

joystick I have this to auto focus on I know some people have auto focus on

where it's labeled but I just have it where the joystick is a center button is

focus settings we went over that earlier that means I can press this and change

where the focus point is and basically change the focus areas the left button

is drive mode that is standard in the camera so I keep it to that

the right button I have as focus magnifier that's this button here so

this is an ISO with me anymore the actual dial is ISO and when I press

right that's my focus magnifier and the down on this dial is find a monitor

select so that is where I switch between looking at the monitor and using the EVF

on the third one I have this AEL button as bright monitoring so say if I'm

shooting astrophotography and I want to see the composition I'll have this

button pre-selected as it when you click on any one of these you can see you've

got 22 different lists of things that you can program in so you've got so many

different options are we on 17 so you've got so many different options and that

was a bright one that's right the next one or to focus on that's this button

here and I have that too I or to focus so if I'm doing portraits I know I can

focus with this button and very quickly move my finger up to here for I

autofocus I also have the focus hold button to I order focus and that's on

the actual lenses you'll get certain lenses with a button on the side that's

what that means so we're gonna ignore these next two I

don't change any of the playback custom keys keep them as they are I don't mind

them as they are a function menu set that is basically this FN button that's

this list down the bottom here so the function menu set here's how I have them

the upper one is face priority in autofocus and next is drive mode

creative style steady shot steady shot focal length and zebra display and then

on along the bottom I have focus mode metering mode picture

profile steady shot adjust focus area and shoot mode sir if I go in there I've

dropped the exposure down so you can see it a little bit better but you can see

here so this is the point where I'll change the focus area and then with my

steady shot very quickly I can come in here and turn my Ibis on or off

oops but then if I'm shooting with and manual focus lens this went down the

bottom will be on manual then very quickly I can change the focal length

that the steady shot is set to with a manual focus lens because obviously with

a manual focus lens it doesn't detect it but I'm shooting with the native lens so

I'll keep it on auto I also quickly access my picture profiles here my

multimeter in mode and creative styles I don't really touch there much but I was

kind of running out of things to put in here so yeah it's that's just the way it

is got my zebras so I can turn them on and off quickly so yeah you know there's

so many different customizable things in this camera I'm just running out of

things to fill these spaces with anyway I'll go back to the menu with my dial

set up I'll have it AV on the front so that's aperture priority on the front

and shutter speed on the back you can swap them over if you want I'm just used

to that way and then I keep rotate to normal this means you can change the

direction where you'll increase or decrease your exposure for these dials

this dial exposure compensation means that you can have the exposure

compensation set to one of these two dials I don't see the point in this

because it's literally on this dial here move your button we're not worrying

about those lock operation parse audio signals audio signals this is basically

beep on focus don't be a beeper turn this off so annoying when you have a

photographer this just beeping away so yeah just keep that off

irritating next is just network settings I sometimes send images straight to my

phone but most of the time I'll bring them off the SD upload them into my

computer or on a hard drive and then edit them there so I don't worry too

much about network settings playback I keep the same as well and now we're on

to setup with a setup obviously monitor brightness changes your monitor

brightness these all pretty much do what they say I don't change that color temp

I don't use gamma display assist that's more of a video setting display quality

hi again these are mostly mostly video settings cleaning mode if you've got a

real stubborn bit of dirt on your sensor that a blower can't get it off click on

this and it'll buzz this sensor and then it'll get you to restart the camera and

it I think it remaps the sensor as well so if you've got some stubborn dirt

before taking it to be cleaned try clicking on this with the touch

operation I have this on I think this is a really good function and it basically

means I can move my focusing Square to exactly where I want it so I'll put on

that cap and focus on the echo and focus on that bottle so you can very quickly

get your focusing points and focus on exactly what you want to instead of kind

of slowly getting it over to there and slowly pushing it down here

I think Canon have had this function for a while and I wish Sony you would have

adopted it earlier but they haven't but at least they've got it now next touch

panel pad this just gives you the option of having it where you're just using

your monitor or were you using your monitor and your

EVF so with touch panel and pad that means that when I'm using my monitor

that's what the panel is full and you got the touch pad so the touch panel is

basically this and then the touch pad is when you're in your EVF you can use this

to move your focusing point I have it to touch panel and pad with the touch pad

settings I have operation in vertical orientation on the next one I have

absolute position and I have the whole screen this is just what I've become

used to all these don't worry about too much USB connections so don't worry

about too much either set file name I have two different cameras I have the a

73 and the a7 r2 so sometimes I'll have images and I don't know which camera

they'll have come from this is where I've remedy that situation I have this

set to a 73 so as you can see my images will come through a 73 and the number

file that they are then I know straight away which camera they come from I think

there's anything in there called media settings everyone was going on about how

it has two slots and how important that is if I'm doing a professional shoot

I'll make sure that it records to both I'll have it set to simultaneous but

what I'm just shooting for myself I just have it set to standard and that's

pretty much it with a my menu setting I put format and monitor brightness and

the viewfinder brightness there but I don't really have much else in there

there's so many customizable buttons in this camera that you don't really need

this like with the function button and with 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 customizable buttons

on this I have everything where I need it all I

do is bring format and monitor brightness and viewfinder brightness

here in my menu if you want to put more things in go to my menu setting menu to

an add item and then this will give you anything that you want to add but I have

everything I need in there I'm happy with that and that's about it I'm sure

there are hundreds if not thousands of ways to set up this camera no one way is

better than another you might have things that suit you better

and I might have things that suit me better I'm just showing you how I set up

my camera as always if you like what you see give me a thumbs up if you didn't

give me a thumbs down and for weekly tutorials hints and tips in photography

and videography subscribe and turn on notifications I'll see you next time

5 Vital Tips For Moving Forward After Loss (Find Peace and Fulfillment) - Duration: 6:28.

hey there how are you today I'm really happy to be here with you so I get asked

this question all the time so I thought that I would come on and talk a little

bit about it people ask me all the time how can I work toward moving forward

after loss and this is a little bit of a challenge right we're really unsure of

how to move forward how are we ever going to find peace again in fulfillment

within our loved ones right so I want to share with you like five tips for moving

forward after loss

tip number one is we need to feel our emotions in order to heal and this needs

to be done with full capacity okay and don't suppress any of your emotions so I

really encourage you to let it all out and the thing is is with grief it sneaks

up on you when you least expect it and I'm sure that you can you understand

this as well you know you'll you'll be at a grocery store and you might see

like your loved ones favorite drink or favorite food and or even if like a song

starts to play and then it's like it's called grief trigger so and so they come

up all the time we really need to feel those emotions in order to heal so when

something like this happens and I would really encourage you to just take a step

back or even go to your car and really feel into it or ask your friends and

just just let them know and say you know what I'm feeling some emotion right now

I'm just going to go into the other room and take some time for me but really

like really feeling it and with full capacity if you have to scream if you

have to cry if you have to get angry whatever that may be I really encourage

you to feel it okay and also you can ask yourself every single day you can say

what do I need today in order to move forward in my healing journey just be

with yourself look within yourself and close your eyes and say you know what

what do I need today in order to move forward with my healing journey is that

a book that you that's been on your mind and is it a meditation is it practicing

yoga whatever that may be okay so feel those emotions with full

capacity okay tip number two is our thoughts create reality so everything

that we are thinking within ourselves is what we are putting out there into the

universe and whatever we are thinking is what we are going to attract so stand

guard to the door of your mind as Jim Rohn says so be aware of what you're

thinking is it negative thoughts or is it

positive thoughts Oh or is it neutral thought so so really

it's important that we have a powerful context you know we could wake up and it

could be a really rainy gloomy day and when we look outside and we see that

rain coming down and it's dark and gloomy we're like oh this is gonna be an

awful day today or we can say oh my gosh it's raining today what a beautiful day

to curl up on the couch and read a book or to go through a photo album or

whatever that is so so really be aware of what you are thinking what are you

projecting out there into the universe because it will attract whatever you're

putting out there tip number three is surrender fully surrender to the

universe and I love my mentor and spiritual teacher Gabby Bernstein she

says when you think you've surrendered surrender more you can never surrender

enough okay and I'm telling you like I mean if you need to get down on your

knees and surrender and then do that ask the higher power God universe your

angels or whatever you believe in for help and fully surrender into what is

ask them for help they will help you but you have to believe in that you have to

truly believe within yourself that you are going to surrender and that you are

going to have guidance okay it's powerful this is powerful stuff okay

number four is surround yourself with people that you love and trust

connection is everything and I know that when we are grieving we tend to like to

separate ourselves from others but what we most need is people that we can trust

and love on us and feel a connection and that will uplift us inspire us or people

that will just let us express ourselves our authentic self so right so having a

like-minded community of women or men or whatever that is a community of people

that you know they feel like you really belong to that you

feel like understand where you're coming from it could even be a friend that lost

somebody as well and you feel a connection with them so really surround

yourself with people that you love and trust or okay and the number five is

think and honor your loved one every single day don't hide from this every

morning you might want to wake up and look at the picture of your loved one

that is no longer with you and just take a moment and look at the picture and be

like you know what I'm so grateful for how long I had you in my life I love you

when I miss you I know you're here with me honor them they are with you in

spirit and they want to see you live your life

they don't want to see you suffer and be sad and you know that's okay that you

are feeling that way for a while but then there comes a time where we want to

live our lives and feel purpose and inspiration and you know honor their

life by living your life their life is no longer here in the physical world but

yours is most importantly that you are here and you are here and you are alive

and your heart is beating and you have a gift every single day you wake up so

just remember that your loved one is always here and they want to see you

happy so I hope some of these tips have served you well I would love to hear

from you any comments of anything that you would like to say please post down

below I'm here to serve and love you I

Nick Ledesma - Where Are You (Lyrics) - Duration: 3:30.

Where are you, where are you

Where are you, where are you

I'm reaching out

I'm reaching out

I'm reaching but where are you?

I've fallen so low

I'm under the surface

I'm slipping below

My lungs stopped breathing

Oooh ooh

Someone save me

Oooh ooh

For something you can't break, break

My heart is yearning

I can't hide the pain

My eyes are burning

To wipe my tears away

Oh, I'm still learning

I've fallen so low

I'm reaching but where are you?

I've fallen so low

I'm under the surface

I'm slipping below

My lungs stopped breathing

Oooh ooh

Someone save me

Oooh ooh

My world is fading out, out

My disaster

Slowly sinking down

Slowly sinking

I can't touch the ground

I'm treading water

Should You Avoid – or Buy Carvana Stock? - Duration: 7:52.

Vincent Shen: There were some interesting comments from CEO Garcia about competition.

He said, basically, given the large size of the market, this fragmentation among the competition,

even if there are new companies to enter this more e-commerce-focused model for selling cars,

it'll basically serve to normalize the concept or the idea of buying a car online.

For some people, it still seems intimidating to not be able to see or handle or even test-drive

a car that your purchasing, thousands of dollars.

Overall, as that becomes normalized, even if there's some competition, that's something

that's likely to lift the whole segment before becoming a more traditional fight for market share.

Last couple things that I will mention, used car selling is the main business driver for

Carvana, but it's also experimenting with sourcing more of its inventory from customers.

The number of vehicles that they will purchase directly from their customers grew over 270%

year over year in the third quarter.

It made up about 16% of the units the company sold via its retail channel.

Something I wanted to get your opinion on, Asit, is all the acquisitions that the company

has made in the past few years.

I know that they're very focused on acquiring certain talent, certain capabilities that

support this platform that they've created. What are your thoughts there?

Asit Sharma: The company is now shifting its focus towards technology.

The last acquisition was the purchase of an artificial intelligence company, which will

help facilitate more interaction on the site, and also interaction via SMS.

Carvana is pretty tech-savvy to begin with, but utilizing the data that they have,

they want to be able to anticipate the secondary questions a buyer might have, and be able

to resolve those quickly, as well as know the buyer a little better from its data sets

and suggest different options. Again, financing is one, if you think back to the GPU.

I think that's a smart move.

At some point, the company has to build out some competitive advantages.

The thing that it's got going for it, which is going to prevent competition from totally

adopting its model, is its inventory doesn't sit on lots.

It gets inventory after a customer makes the purchase or it gets it to the distribution point,

but the company isn't in the business of buying a gazillion cars and putting those on lots.

It's a more streamlined model.

That contributes to the gross margin, but it also helps free up capital for the technology,

these types of acquisitions that you're mentioning, Vince. I think that's very smart.

I also wanted to say that another inherent advantage going forward for the company is

a stat that you just mentioned -- up to 16% of the cars that were sold in the last quarter,

it acquired from other customers. This is pointing to a customer lifetime value model.

It means that every time I need a new car, I stop going to whoever has the best price,

visiting different dealerships.

I become this customer who wants to buy and sell every car from one company.

This is a long-term advantage if you consider that a competitor like CarMax has that inventory

and all the land infrastructure that's tied to that.

In the time it would take a larger competitor to adopt this model, Carvana can, over the years,

convert people to lifetime customers. That's a very exciting proposition.

I think we'll see additional small acquisitions from Carvana.

One of the things on the balance sheet that indicates that it probably is looking in that

direction is the issuance of $350 million of unsecured notes just recently.

It now has a little more firepower on its balance sheet, not only to patch up some of

the losses it's generating, but also make a few small acquisitions.

I do think we'll see more in terms of artificial intelligence.

As far as the talent -- that is, the people that it's bringing on -- because the general

and administrative expense is relatively lower versus traditional used car companies --

in other words, it doesn't have a lot of sales people standing around lots creating overhead

-- it has more money to invest in great people, in engineers, data scientists, etc.

This is something we've seen in companies that we've talked about on the show.

Analogous, I would say, to Stitch Fix, which is also big on making acquisitions, not just

of companies, but of talent, of people who can make the systems more optimized to helping

you get to that next purchase.

Shen: Final take, when it comes down to it for you, Asit, is this a yes stock? A no stock?

Or something that you're putting on the watchlist? Sharma: This is actually a yes stock for me.

But you have to have a bit of a strong stomach, because the company doesn't have net income, per say.

The next-best metric that we often look at is price to sales.

I pulled that up this morning, Carvana is selling at 3X forward one-year sales,

which actually isn't a sky-high valuation as price to sales ratios go. But it is a lot pricier.

I'll bring up CarMax again, which trades that 0.5X forward sales.

Of course, that's a much more slowly-growing company.

If you purchase this stock today, there's potential for a correction, and we know the

general market right now is soft.

However, if you are yourself a millennial or middle-aged person like me who wants to

buy a great company and hold it for several years, I think it's okay to start taking a position in Carvana.

As I said, I do think it has some structural advantages to fend off competition as it begins

to adopt some of the better aspects of how Carvana operates.

What about you, Vince? Shen: I'm in the same boat as you.

This is definitely a company that has been really cool to dig into, do that due diligence.

I'm really excited about what they're building here, how that's changing the consumer experience.

I'm seeing a lot of these core metrics like gross profit go very quickly up and to the right.

I'm seeing the potential for all these markets that they can enter.

This is definitely, definitely one that I will be, over time, adding and creating a position.

Very excited for Carvana. Any final thoughts, Asit?

Sharma: Yes. If you have a chance, before you invest in the company, if you happen to be in a metropolitan

area that has one of the Vending Machines, go visit it like I did.

It will give you a clearer sense of the kinds of advantages that this company has.

I thought it was probably just eye candy, but it creates a bond with the customer,

when you vend your car and drive it off the lot, that's different than just stepping in and

smelling the new car smell, just seeing the shiny new vehicle.

They're onto something which is going to implant in younger people this desire to stick with them

for a long time. Shen: Yeah.

To boil it down, it reminds me of the ultimate unboxing experience, which can really change

how you perceive a product. A very cool company.

Glad we're able to talk about this, especially as I wrap up my time with Industry Focus.

How to Make Gingerbread Cookies - Duration: 4:24.

Today on The Stay At Home Chef I'm showing you how to make

Classic Gingerbread Cookies. This is always a must make recipe during the holidays

Nothing says Christmas more than gingerbread cookies! To start you'll need

6 tablespoons of softened salted butter in the bowl of the mixer and

you'll need 1/4 cup of brown sugar. You want to cream this together.

As written, this recipe makes about a dozen cookies but it can easily be doubled or tripled.

Next then you'll add in one egg and 1/3 a cup of molasses

When measuring sticky ingredients like molasses it always helps if you spray

your little measuring cup with a little bit of nonstick cooking spray before you

put the sticky stuff in it. Then you'll need 3/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon,

3/4 teaspoon of ground ginger, 1/2 teaspoon of ground allspice,

and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves. And that's all of our gingerbread flavoring.

You'll also need 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and

1/4 teaspoon of salt and mix this all together .Stop and scrape the sides and

bottom of the bowl as necessary to make sure that everything gets mixed in.

:ass add in 1 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour and mix it all together.

You should end up with a nice thick dough. Then we're gonna lay out

some plastic wrap. We'll scrape our dough out onto that plastic wrap and wrap it

up tightly into a little ball. Then just pop this into the fridge for about an

hour to harden up. Once your dough has firmed up you'll want to roll it out on

a lightly floured surface until it's about 1/4 inch thick. Then you use a

cookie cutter to cut out your cookies and of course I'm using a little

gingerbread man. And then place your cookies onto either a silicon lined

baking sheet or a parchment lined baking sheet. You can gather up all your scraps

and re-roll it out so that it's 1/4-inch thick to get more cookies.

Then we're going to bake these in a 350 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes

Now royal icing does dry really quickly so I like to use these little bags of

royal icing. They're a lot easier to work with than trying to make it all from scratch

but you can definitely do that as well. Once you've had fun decorating

them, well, they're ready to eat! Even though it does seem a little cruel to

just bite his head off, but here I go.... mmm! These are soft, they're delicious

These are definitely a winner!

What Is Bear Market Raid And How Can I Take Advantage Of It? - Duration: 6:43.

- Today I'm gonna teach you all about short selling,

promoters, and what is a bear raid.

(electronic music)

What's up, Tim Sykes, Millionaire Mentor and Trader,

here answering your questions.

A lotta people message me asking, what is a bear raid?

What is short selling?

Like this, the two questions are hand in hand.

Short selling is when you bet against a company.

You bet on failure.

And frankly, I think it's a very good strategy

with penny stocks because most penny stocks fail.

Most are scams, most will go to zero eventually.

But you have to be careful because even if a company

is a scam, it can rise quite a bit

before the scam unravels.

The whole point of a scam is to pump up the stock price

as high as possible so that the insiders or the scammers

can cash out.

So you have to be aware of that.

Beware of promoters, beware of pumpers,

beware of liars.

I understand that's a lot to beware of,

but these are penny stocks.

Bear raids are when the opposite happens,

a group of short sellers get together

and they put out bad information or misinformation

about a company and they all try to push

the stock price down.

And maybe the company isn't that bad.

Maybe the company isn't a scam.

Not every penny stock is a scam.

So you have these short sellers who maybe go

all over social media, as short sellers like to do,

especially on Twitter because they have nothing

else to do with their lives

because they're miserable trolls, but they go on Twitter,

they go all over social media and they say

scam scam scam, warrants.

They pick apart a company and they talk

about every negative thing.

And they try to label it in the worst way possible

to get other people wanting to A, short sell it,

bet against the company too, B, if you're long the company,

you want as a unethical short seller trying

to create a bear raid, you want them to sell.

You want the stock price as low as possible.

So this is what the short sellers are trying to do.

Penny stock promoters like The Wolf of Wall Street

want the scams as high as possible.

Short sellers who are conducting a bear raid

want the price as low as possible.

Now, a lot of people say well, aren't,

isn't penny stock promotion illegal?

Isn't a bear raid illegal?

I'm not a lawyer, okay.

It's all very sketchy.

It's all very unethical.

And it's all also very not an exact science.

Who's to say the short seller isn't right?

Who's to say that this group of short sellers,

they're not picking on a company where guess what,

the company does deserve to go to zero?

Maybe the short sellers are ahead of the curve.

You know there was a bunch of short sellers

in a big scam as it turned out called Enron

and Enron was one of the top performing stocks

in the world, so the short sellers were right.

I don't know who's right and who's not.

I don't try to make these guessing games

like is this definitely a scam,

is the CEO gonna go to jail of any company

or is this a bear raid and the short sellers are lying?

For me it's all about pattern recognition.

So if a company keeps dropping every single day gradually,

I'm not interested in it because maybe the short sellers

are picking it apart, maybe it's like from my PennyStocking

or PennyStocking Part Deux DVDs, the crow pattern

where the chart just gets picked about

a little bit every single day.

There's nothing for me to do.

I don't wanna short it because there can always be

one spike that squeezes me out,

and I don't wanna buy it because it's very scary

to try to dip buy a falling knife.

What I prefer to dip buy is morning panics.

I have 650-plus video lessons on Profit.ly

on morning panics.

So if the short sellers are conducting a bear raid

and trying to push it down or if there's a bunch of shorts

who have pushed it down, I don't really care.

What I care about is if there's enough panic

and it fits my pattern.

And frankly, I'm grateful for the unethical short sellers,

I'm grateful for the unethical promoters.

This is penny stocks, okay.

Like whether they're doing something illegal or not,

whether they get shut down or not, I don't care.

The game will continue.

There's always another promoter.

Maybe he's not like The Wolf of Wall Street,

but maybe like 20 little wanna be Wolf of Wall Streets.

Maybe one short seller isn't in charge

of any bear raid, maybe there's a group of short sellers.

I don't know, I don't care.

You shouldn't care either.

You should learn the patterns because you can't predict

what a bear raid is, you can't predict

if the promotion is gonna last a week or two weeks

or like five weeks or six months.

You have no idea, unless you're on the inside

of one of these clandestine groups

and I don't encourage that.

You should probably go to the authorities

with the knowledge that you have about that stuff.

For me, I just wanna study the patterns

because the patterns are predictable.

Short sellers create predictable patterns.

Promoters create predictable patterns.

So no matter what happens legally,

no matter what happens factual-wise

and is the promoter right, is the short seller right,

I don't care.

I abstain from voting.

A lotta people say what do you think about this company,

what do you think about this company.

I have no idea, okay.

I do know statistics most penny stocks will fail.

Most of the companies will go to zero.

But that said, some of the biggest scams that I've seen

go up the most.

The worst fundamentally screwed company

can become the top performing stock

because there's too many short sellers

and they create a short squeeze.

So don't just try to judge a company based on

is this a short squeeze, is this company worthless,

is this company's value given all its assets

worth like 200 million and the stock is valued

at 50 million so it's undervalued.

Focus on patterns, okay.

Understand this is not an exact science.

The data that you have about short sellers

is so wrong, it doesn't even matter.

Social media is usually wrong, so it doesn't matter.

Patterns are not wrong.

If you see a predictable pattern again and again and again,

obviously nothing works 100% of the time,

but I'm focusing on patterns that work

more times than not.

Study up.

This is why I have over 6,000 video lessons now

all about patterns.

I'm basically a pattern teacher.

I'm a glorified history teacher.

Leave a comment if you're gonna be dedicated.

Lave the guessing games to other people

What Can A Psychologist Do For Me? - Duration: 10:36.

People joke about this topic all the time. I've had people come up to me and

say, "Oh so-and-so could really use you." have you ever wondered seriously what

can a psychologist do for me? When people find out that I'm a psychologist, I get

all kinds of different reactions. Some people want to tell me their whole life

story. Some people don't dare tell me anything

at all. It's just interesting what the perceptions are. You might have been

wondering what can a psychologist do for me. There are different kinds of

psychologists and I can't speak for all of them.

From a basic standpoint, I think my job as a psychologist is to illuminate the

obvious. Which is kind of cool. I get paid to tell people things they

already know. But there's obvious things that are unnoticed. Your clothing for

example. Do you notice it? Can you feel it? Yeah, it's obvious now but before I

mentioned it, it wasn't even noticed. Obvious but unnoticed. The fact that we're

speaking English. Honestly, did you notice? Some of you will say yes to that because

you're not native English speakers. And those are the ones who notice. If you

were raised speaking English primarily, you didn't

notice we were speaking English. It was just obvious but unnoticed. It's obvious

once I call it to your attention. There are processes in our mind that are just

like this they are obvious once they're called to your attention but completely

unnoticed up until that point. One of these processes is called metacognition.

Metacognition is a made-up word. Do we make up words in psychology because we

feel smarter when we can. Breaking it down, cognition means thinking. If we

place cognition right here on this level. metacognition is a higher level.

It's thinking about thinking. And do you notice that you can do this? That's good

news. Because metacognition creates a little space. And in that space, is where

choice exists. Some of the processes that are constantly going on in our own mind

in our cognition are obvious but completely unnoticed up until the time

that they're called to your attention. That's what I do as a psychologist. I

think that's what people in my industry do. We help you to see those processes in

a metacognitive way because once you go to the metacognition level, then we enact

choice. And that's huge. We go through life sometimes not even

seeing that it's a choice. And I can tell you until you see it as a choice, it's

not. You will simply roll with whatever you're programmed, train, taught and

educated to do. And it's not necessarily by choice at that point. It's just your

programming. Programming like English you know, we talked about earlier. I don't

choose to speak English, I'm programmed to speak English. Well, with metacognition,

I can see that, "Wait a minute, English is not the only language, it's not

necessarily the best language. It's just the one that I'm programmed with." Could

we pick another one? Yes, we could. And that brings up all of the issues around...

Well, I'm not used to the other language, I'm not fluent in the other language,

right. So, you enter into a practice process. That's the other thing that I do

with my clients is to create for them opportunities to practice a new language.

A new programming, if you will. Where before, "My life is terrible, horrible,

awful, no good, got stuck in depression, anxiety." Whatever

it is. To speak a new language of, "You know what? My life is awesome. My life

rocks." And I've got the power to improve it from here. Both of those are positions.

But until you see it as a choice, it's not. The world that we work in in

psychology tends to be based around feelings and thoughts and beliefs and

relationships. All of which are affected by our previous programming. Most of

which were not even aware of because we just roll with our programming instead

of experiencing our choice. One of the biggest things that psychologists can do

for you is to help you see the processes that

are going on in your own mind clearly enough that you can get back into a

choice position. And determine for yourself. See, I can't tell you how to

think. I don't have that kind of authority. Plus it would just tick you

off anyway. I just want you to see that you are thinking. That thinking has

predictable results on all of your outcomes. Your relationships, your

finances, your health, your mental health, your happiness. Thoughts have

consequences. I and my other colleagues in the industry of psychology want to

help you get out of your own way. Now, I have to add a little disclaimer here.

Because none of the psychologists that I know, including the one on the screen

right now. None of us have this all figured out. We're just fellow human

beings on the planet. What I've discovered however is that

principles determine all of life's outcomes. And there are certain

principles that by virtue of my practice and what I've been able to do here for a

quarter of a century. I have observed that certain principles determine

certain outcomes with happiness, for example. Positivity. You've heard this.

Forever, right? Just think positive. Does that annoy you too? Probably depends on

who's saying it and why. I've figured out through my practice and what all my

clients have taught me used over these years, why? That is absolutely very

literally true. The positivity is a choice in that it matters and that just

think positive, we'll take the just out of that phrase and it's more accurate.

Think positive. How do you do that? There's 2 processes.

Evaluation and creation. I went over that in another video. And in fact, you know

what? I would be happy to share with you my mini book. In fact, you know what? I

would be willing to share with you a free digital copy of my mini book.

Portable Positivity. I'm not trying to sell this to you. What I'm offering here

is an insight into the principles that I have learned through 24 years

of clinical practice where I've figured out how positivity works and how you can

immediately implement it in your life. I wrote it up as a mini book. There's a

model in here that describes 2 processes in your mind. Evaluation and

creation. You can't turn either one off and your imagination drives both of them.

You can get a free digital copy. Just check down in the description for the

link and enjoy. This is what I do in my work is a psychologist. I've been

speaking specifically about what I do as a psychologist. Other psychologists have

different specialties, different areas of practice. I used to for example do child

custody evaluations for the court. Some of the videos here on the channel are

about that. I don't do that kind of work anymore but I share what I've learned in

these videos so that you can benefit from it. I did a doctoral dissertation on

bedwetting. Who knew? I know more about that than you ever want to know. But you

what? If you want to know what I know, go see the videos that I've done on

bedwetting. Different psychologists have different focuses or areas of practice.

And so, how they can help you might differ from how I can help you. Where I

focus on things like positivity and parenting and relationships and

entrepreneurship and productivity in the workplace. See, those are the things that

light me up. Another psychologist might focus on research or on a particular

educational approach that helps to maximize learning or whatever it might

be. It's just like any other field or industry where there are different

subspecialties. Poked around a little bit and see what you can find out about the

particular areas that you're interested in. Or leave me a comment down below, send

me an email. Engage with me in ways that I can help to answer those questions for

you too. I'd be happy to do that. Hey, Live On Purpose family. I am so

impressed that you're still here. That you're listening to the outro for this

video. And because of that, you get a special bonus. Don't tell anybody else.

But down there in the description is a link where you can get a free copy, a

digital copy of mini eBook. Portable Positivity. Check it out in the

description. Thanks for watching.

Value Stocks vs. Growth Stocks: Which Way Should You Invest? - Duration: 2:29.

Robert Brokamp: So far we've covered a lot of bland-looking food. A lot of white. A lot of brown.

If I add some color, I'm moving on to that jiggly staple of Thanksgiving tables -- cranberry sauce!

Alison Southwick: Now are you of the family that needs to have that cranberry sauce

come out of a can and keep those ridges evident or are you, no, it needs to actually look

like cranberries? Or do you guys actually buy fresh cranberries?

Brokamp: It depends on whether I'm in charge of providing it for the meal.

With our family, I'm usually in charge of bringing the drinks, which gives you an idea

of how much faith my family has in my cooking.

If I were in charge of the cranberries, they would come out of the can which, by the way,

according to Smithsonian Magazine, is how something like 74% of people do it.

Only 26% of people actually get the cranberries and make the sauce.

So, in our portfolio that we are setting before us, I'm putting cranberries as style investing.

Up to now, we've been talking about investing according to size, but there are other factors,

and one of them is style; basically growth vs. value.

Every portfolio should have some growth and value just like every Thanksgiving table should

have some cranberries.

But depending on how you want to lean [a little bit toward growth, a little toward value]

is really up to you.

The long-term returns on whether growth beats value or vice versa is somewhat inconclusive.

Plenty of academic evidence shows that value outperforms, but there are many periods where

growth outperforms for a long period, including our recent period.

Over the last several years, growth has just significantly outperformed value.

I'm not going to go one way or the other.

People like Jack Bogle say over the long term it doesn't matter, but you have a style just

like you have a cranberry preference. Some people love tech stocks.

[If you] love finding the new up-and-coming companies [in Motley Fool lingo like Rule Breakers],

then you're going to be leaning towards growth.

If you are more of a Warren Buffett-type investor, you like getting a good deal, or if you want

your portfolio to have a better emphasis on things like dividends,

you're probably going to lean more towards value.

But in the end over the long term, it probably doesn't matter.

How To Make A YouTube Background - Duration: 8:38.

Welcome back. A question that a lot of up-and-coming YouTubers ask is how do

you create a YouTube background? So, we're going to discuss what that might mean and

how you do that. -Oh, the actual background? Oh, I thought it

was like the background for... Forget it. That's what we're going to talk about.

That's the... That's... -That was the video logo there. -Yeah.

So, backgrounds. Backgrounds for YouTube. Why does that matter? Who wants them? Does

it matter? I have questions. Begin. -Yeah. Well, people

want to create a show. They think, "Okay, I've got to create my set or you know,

what do i what do I put behind me?" And my first recommendation is to really work

with what you've got. In this case, this was... This sound wall was never really

meant to be a background. -Right. -But I put some blue lights on it and it turned out...

-It works. -It looks pretty good. -Yeah. You know, find something that... -Yeah. You worked

with what you had. -Mm-hmm. -I mean so if you're in prison right now,

unfortunately you're only going to have kind of a gray dingy background. but

maybe if you can work like your loved ones pictures into it or something like

that, right? Isn't that kind of where you're going? -So, in other videos, I've

talked about doing research and finding good examples of what you like. This is

another one of those cases where look at other YouTube channels. Maybe that are in

a similar niche to yours or not. And what do they do is their background. I mean if

it's a vlog, they're changing they're moving all over. But if it's a talking

head video on how-to video... You know, where you've got a continuous background, find

examples of what you like. There's you know, what's the one in link? The

Good Mythical Morning. -Alright. -They're weird set. -Stuff on the walls. -And

were you think of like a sports commentary thing. They've got their

jerseys, track, trophies, right. Yeah. -So, you could... You could create a set like that.

But another recommendation that I have is when you have a high quality camera,

the whole reason what we're filming on here is a DSLR with a

lens with a f-stop 1.4. What that means is it's got a really narrow area of

focus. Which means that back here, we're actually pretty close to the the wall

back here. The further away we are from the background, the more it's blurred. So

you can actually take kind of a messy background or or a kitchen that still

got stuff left out on the counters. But you blur it and it actually looks pretty

nice. -Well, if you go to this link here. This is the link to my little YouTube

place, channel. You'll see some of the work that Nate does for my stuff. The

same thing. The blurred out background. A kitchen or living room or whatever. And

it really does it adds such a nice touch of professionalism. And it makes the... It

makes... It makes visually quite interesting.

Even when (Often) the subjects themselves are not terribly interesting. At least

the look is. You know what I mean? -I do know what you mean. (Laughs) So, in this room here, we're pretty small.

-Yeah. -But in the last time that we filmed at your house... -We turned it around. -Yeah.

-Yeah. -So, I was in the kitchen. Had the kitchen counter. You and your wife were

sitting there and then we had the whole dining room. -And he blew out the whole back and

there's 30 feet or whatever behind us. I've just blown out stuff but it's... It's

kind of we need to move the lights, by the way so they're not in the mirror

reflection. I just noticed. That's just me. You don't... But when you see it, you'll

know what I'm saying. Anyway, yeah, keep going, keep going. -So, that's a

recommendation is to get a good quality lens that can really blur things.

And even if you want a tutorial on that, go to YouTube. "How to blur...?" I don't know

what would it be. -Background? "How to blur background with DSLR?" And by the way, if you're

like a lot of people who don't know what DSLR camera is because... -Digital -...everybody

uses, yes. It says... Yeah. -I used to know. -Anyway, it's a

camera. Just a regular you know, one of these like cameras, right? With a camera

body and lenses. That's how you get the lenses that are widely... That are wide or

narrow or whatever. Like he's talking about. -Also. The quick tip were here was

just throw some colored lights in. I mean I I have these L-E-D lights that I can...

-Yeah. This is not a blue wall. -Yes. This is a... -This is like dark grey, sound

foam. -With blue flashes from each side. -So, I can

turn it red or green or pink. We should do pink. -Do pink next time. Join us

tomorrow. No we won't do pink. -Okay. Now, I'm actually going to have to take

the camera off to show you this. But I'm going to recommend... So, I hesitate when I...

Yeah. I hesitate when I say the word recommend because there's a reason why I

use this. You can use a green screen. -Right. -So, we we held on a green screen.

I've got a roll of green paper up there. Which I'll show you in a second too. But

we then took a photo and put it in the background and this is with a client of

mine, Marianne. We worked on it and worked on it.

The lighting whatnot so that it looked like she was in that room. Okay?

But with my team in the Philippines, with the processing power of their computers

and whatnot, the green screen... It was... It just took more time than I wanted them

to take on editing. It really doubled the amount of work that they had to do. At

the time, it they doubled the length of time. So, I had an idea. I thought, "Why

don't I take that photo that I was putting in the background, printed on a

big huge vinyl background and then just film in front of that. And let's see how

it works." So I spent a hundred bucks on this. So, haven't adjusted the lighting

for this. But you can see, it's just hanging from the ceiling. And I've got

I've got stuff in front of it here because... But you can see. And one thing I

want you to notice... It's going to be a little weird. Notice how I'm in focus and this

is blurred. It's actually in focus on this. But it's printed blurry

intentionally. So let me come back and we'll talk about it. -Oh, I thought maybe you

just be... When you blew it up. It just accidentally was out of focus. You know

what I mean? -But I do know what you mean. So, we I did that on purpose. When you put

a photo like... We talked about blur. When you have a good quality lens, the

background all naturally blur when it focuses on us. So, if I put a photo behind

us, you know, in the editing software, you always add a few percent blur. -Yeah. So,

that it looks more realistic. -Yeah. And sometimes when things are a little bit

too crisp, it's like you can tell that it's not real. But when you blurred it, it's

like, "Oh, yeah. It actually makes it look realistic." -Yeah. -So, when I went to took

that photo... Obviously, I had to make it really large to send off to the the

print company. But I... Before doing that, I did actually add a few percent blur to

it. -And you told them, "Look, this is going to look blurry to you, but it's supposed to." (Laughs)

-So, it's intentionally blurry. -It's kind of fun, yeah. -So, that when I put my camera in

this corner of the room, put the subject about right here, that's in the

background, get the lighting just right. The Lighting's a little bit tricky. But

that's an option is you can take whatever background you want. If you want

to make it appear like you're filming in the Oval Office or... Outdoor scenes are

going to be your get have to work with the lighting but you could really do

anything. If you want to appear like you're in a beach. If you think about

news channels, a lot of times they'll have a glass window behind them showing

the city. -Right, yeah. -They're not... They don't really have windows there with the

city behind them. That's in most cases. Maybe they do. -Some, some do that. Somebody,

yeah. -But in a lot of cases... It's is a TV screen or some type of... -Yeah. It's key to

an imagery or whatever, yeah. So, it's not so... Yeah. Obvious. Maybe, maybe

something to mention too is a fairly basic rule of thumb which is try not to

be too distracting with your background because really the focus should be on

you and your co-host or whoever it is. Because often... And that's sort of a rule

of thumb. I'm an actor and you know, now most people will shoot their own little

auditions and they always say, "Keep a fairly boring..." By boring, I mean not too

dynamic background so that it doesn't take away from the actual focus. -Yeah, way

he said. -See? -If you found this video helpful, subscribe. If you didn't find it

helpful then don't subscribe. We only want people who like these videos here.

-We don't want any negative... No any negativity at all. -No negative comments,

nothing. But we will see you tomorrow.

Light Work (The Power of Consciousness) From Meditation to Magick (Class 5 to Empowering Yourself) - Duration: 4:39.

Light work

hi guys welcome to becoming a better you by skeed I am skieed today we are

continuing on our journey to increase the power of our consciousness to

increase the knowledge of our inner selves to understand the true self to

move into being able to take more control over things like the law of

attraction Quantum Jumping or magic as it were

interested today finally we're starting to look at the positives to keep

watching the video yes finally we're done with the negatives we're going to

the positives but let's take a break with the negatives by now you should

have realized that lots of the negative things you do you should have realized

how many times certain negative emotions you use them it's been a couple of weeks

now now is the time to do the same with the positive this is fun

I'm gonna do the same with the diary we're going to give certain emotions

certain elements this is important with alchemy so you start understanding them

let's get going the element of fire is things like enthusiasm firmness coverage

the element of air dexterity lust kindness optimism joy diligence the

element of water compassion calmness tenderness caring forgiveness abstinence

in earth the more grounding emotions respect endurance sobriety fairness

punctuality consciousness etc

now again whilst the elements are going to be important later on and if you've

done my guided meditation with the elements hopefully you'll start to

realize why this is all becoming more important

and if you have an emotion that you're not a hundred percent sure about it's

not a hundred percent important to get it a hundred percent right all the time

it's just to start maybe you put water with air etc but as you go on you will

realize which category the category they fall into some are gonna be difficult is

it Airy is it more grounding it depends on your perspective on your semantics of

the word and how you take it so some things maybe for you might be in one

category where for someone else they might be in another category that

depends on you just really concentrate on whether it's sort of a hot fiery

electrical emotion and airy in sort of in the wind emotion a watery fluid

emotion or an earthy grounding emotion so again another week sitting down

contemplating which one it is which way we go all the positives the ones that

happen during the day the ones of our main characteristic

and you'll start to even see perhaps the ones you would like to have more of just

as in the negatives the ones you like to have less of this week it should become

very clear so keep going with the positives have fun with this do it

morning do it evenin do it both jot them down through the day just to make sure

you remember them so you can put them all down and that's it for this week

next week we will for your continuing like the video subscribe to the channel

share this with your friends this is just the first steps to the power

mastering the power of your own consciousness see you in another video

Michelin TWEEL Turf Tires on Mean Green Mowers - Duration: 1:06.

We've recently done a partnership with Michelin for their new TWEEL.

The TWEELs are very unique both in the industry and overall because they are airless rear

tires for our outdoor power equipment. So we can run these on our mowers and never

have to worry about the air leaking out of them. They're much more durable.

They last about three to four times longer tread life on them. They also give

better shock absorption when you're driving over the ground. They never have

to worry about flat tires or airing tires, which is a major issue for

commercial cutters. You almost always have one of your tires that's always

leaking a little bit of air. Which means that your operator has to stop to fill

them back up. So that takes time, time is money.

They make for a much smoother riding machine, which is obviously good for the

operator, but it's also good for the machine. You're gonna get a lot more

durability out of the chassis and components of the machine if you can

keep them from shaking and vibrating, and the Tweel's offer us that.

The Holidays Aren't Happy For Everyone - But You Can Help - Duration: 2:03.

The holidays are an opportunity to take stock of what we have to be grateful for,

and the good things in our life. Just breaking bread at a holiday meal

surrounded by your family and friends usually leaves us feeling pretty happy.

Unfortunately the holidays aren't always a time of happiness for everyone. And for

some they can feel lonely or even painful.

I'm Scott Gordon founder of Open Mortgage and I hope we can be cognizant

of others who may not have a positive mindset during the holiday season. While

many of us relish festivities and family time, for some holidays can't be

separated from bad memories from the past or feelings of loneliness or loss.

Has someone you know lost a loved one or received bad news? This may be a

difficult time for them as they relive past good memories. The good news is we

can all provide comfort at a time of year when people may feel their pain is

forgotten. Whether you lend an ear or your time or something from your wallet

or a place at your dinner table, you'd be surprised at how much small acts of

kindness truly make a difference in someone else's life. So while you spend

time this holiday season taking stock of everything you have and everything

you're grateful for, let's also take time to be aware of other people who may not

have it so well. I wish everyone the best this holiday season and from my home to

yours I hope there's plenty of holiday cheer to go around. Speak to you soon.

My November Favourites (2018) Clinique + Clarisonic + Coach + Lancome and more! | Samantha Sito - Duration: 11:09.

Hey guys!

Welcome back to my channel.

It's your girl Samantha.

If you haven't done so already do me a favour and hit the subscribe button below so you

can see the rest of my videos.

I have new videos every Thursday.

I figured to cap off the month of November why not try something new.

But today is going to be my very first November Favourites video where I share all my top

items or the things I've been using so much this month.

And that I love so much.

And their specially catered with the holidays in mind.

And if you don't already know, or haven't guessed, I'm actually going to be doing Vlogmas

this December!

Oh my god.

If you guys don't know I actually have a full time job in addition to all the stuff I do

with blogging and vlogging and videos etc.

So I really don't know how I'm going to pull off Vlogmas and if you guys don't know what

Vlogmas is, it's basically me vlogging every single day from the 1st of December all the

way to the 24th.

So all the way till Christmas.

I have prepared myself mentally to do Vlogmas and I'm very excited and I hope you guys hit

the subscribe button because I will be vlogging every single day.

And I'm thinking probably it'll go up at 10 or 11 at night so pretty late because I don't

know how else I'm going to do this if I work during the day.

I'll probably use the evenings to edit and then put it out at night.

Anyway back to today's video we're doing my November Favourites.

And I'm going to start it off with the Clinque Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly.

If you watch my Instagram stories PS.

Follow me on Instagram.

I post a lot of stories there.

I have been using this every morning.

So when I first started using the Clinque Jelly I didn't really know what to expect.

It was kinda strange to me at first.

But I started using it and people started DM-ing me asking me to do a review.

So here it is.

At first I tried using this both in the day and at night but I began to realize that I

like a thicker cream just for moisturizing in the winter, it just nice when I have thicker

cream on my face before I go to bed.

But this has been perfect for using in the day.

Just it's like putting water on your face.

It absorbs so fast and I feel amazing hydrated and moisturized so I'd definately recommend

this.

When Ifirst started using this I started using this on my hand and my legs because

they get really try as well but my friend Lindy was like no, use it on your face.

Next up, under skincare, one of my November Favourites is the Bliss Mighty Marshmellow

Face Mask.

You might have seen this in my other videos or on my Instagram a ton.

It is amazing.

I'm so upset that they don't ship to Canada.

Oh wait, maybe they do ship to Canada!

Anyway, I love the texture of this, the consistency is so great on my skin.

So going on skincare, so I don't know if you watched my, one of my latest videos, it's

about the Glamglow My Little Pony Face Mask.

I was applying it and then I put make up on and it's great.

I got so many views on Instagram.

Thank you guys so much.

I also hit the explore page so that's kinda cool.

But I also bought the I don't know what this is called, the Black Glitter Face Mask as

well.

This is not opened yet but it is a great gift you can find it in Sephora or online and I

think that yeah I would love to get this as a Christmas gift.

Next up is the La Mer.

This is a little bit on the pricerier side.

I have to admit I did not purchase this.

I got this in a, at, I got this at an event a while back.

I will show you guys.

I actually got my name engraved on the bottle so it's really sweet and it means a lot.

I've only used a little bit of it but every time I use it it's so amazing on my skin.

And it's a moisturizing cool gel cream.

I don't, when i tried on the different La Mers I actually preferred this because it's

a little bit lighter and I do like the cooling effect.

So if you have someone special in your life and you really want to get a nice gift for

them than and you don't mind spending a little bit extra on a really good mositurizer for

your face.

I definitely recommend La Mer.

The Clarisonic Mia Smart II.

This is amazing.

I don't know why I've never used this before til lately.

I again got this in a press package but that is regardless of the point.

This is amazing on your skin.

So there is actually.

Well okay, first.

There are a couple of different brush heads so this is for cleansing and this is a contouring.

You're not supposed to use it near your eyes by the way.

They have one specifically for that but it's not this one.

This is just a contour.

And this one is to apply makeup.

So you can change the different brush heads or brush head depending on what you want to

use it for.

But this is so good.

So you can actually connect this device to your cellphone app and it actually helps to

kind of, monitor your skin and gives you a report on your, your, your personalized skincare

routine.

Depending on the goals you want to set for cleansing.

Next up Neostrata!

Their cleansing foam.

Yeah, their brightening cleanser.

This is one of their, one of the Enlighten Line.

So now they changed their packaging, I don't know if you guys watched it on my Instagram

stories but they have a new sleek look for their packaging where they label and categorize

based on colour so when you're shopping for it at a drugstore or online just look for

the colour and it will tell you what it's for.

But this has been fantastic.

Neostrata is such an amazing brand.

I worked with them a couple months ago for their relaunch and I've just started using

their peels and their face masks and their creams and it's so good.

Again, a little bit on the pricerier side but you can't go cheap on your skincare.

Your skin is very, very, very important.

Moisturizer again!

Also cuz it's November guys and it's cold out and your skin gets really dry.

And I love me a good moisturizer that isn't too sticky and this is really good for sensitive

skin cuz I haver very dry and sensitive skin and use this mainly at night.

I just lather it on.

But yes!

You might have seen this, maybe not because I usually hold my camera with the Gorilla

Pod but this Gorilla Pod I got it from London Drugs but you can get the Joby Gorilla Pod

online on Amazon or your local drugstore or the camera store.

Just google it.

You can find it everywhere.

This is amazing.

I usually when I vlog I actually don't hold my camera anymore; I put the camera on the

Gorilla Pod and I hold it like this cause I feel like it's just a lot more stable and

I decrease the chance of me putting my finger on top of the in-built microphone.

So this helps a lot.

And it's also cool when your trying to ask someone to help take photos of you, they just

need to hold this and yeah it's great.

Perfumes!

This is my every month favourite.

Jo Malone is just the best.

They make the best perfumes and I was in Nordstrom the other day and I saw all their Holiday

packaging their Christmas stuff.

It's so pretty and glitter but this is my packaging.

This is my favourite scent, the Nectarine Blossom and Honey.

My absolute favourite.

One of my favourite purses of all time, this is definitely a November favourite.

This is from Coach.

It's so pretty.

Isn't it so pretty.

It very, like I try not to use too too much because it is white and I don't want to run

the risk of getting this dirty but I have been wearing it a lot this November and I

will continue to wear this through to December during the Holiday season cause it's such

a festive bag.

You can actually take the strap off and then it becomes a nice little clutch.

And it's large enough really to put my camera.

I don't know if I could put my Gorilla Pod in here but let me check.

No, it's a little bit too tight.

I mean I could try and fit it in but it's a very nice dinner bag or casual bag.

This is the specifically for all of you guys who love being sustainable and who love Starbucks!

This is one of their recyclable cups which is great because there's a Starbucks so close

to my work and now I just use this to get coffee but definitely a November favourite

especially with all the Holiday drinks.

You can save cups, you can drink as much Starbucks as you want without feeling guilty because

you are not wasting paper and killing trees.

Okay, finally, last but not least, my November favourite is this beautiful lip stick from

Lancome.

The shade is Dramatic.

It's a matte shade and what I love about it is that you can kinda just tap it.

Op!

Okay, let me show you again.

You tap it, it pops out and look at this baby.

I love me a good red lip.

I'vebeen wearing it a lot this November and will continue again to wear it during December

because red is a great colour for the Holiday season.

Anyway thank you guys so much for watching my November favourites video.

Don't forget that I am doing Vlogmas this year.

You can expect to see a vlog from me every single day in the month of December.

From December 1st all the way to Christmas.

And I'm very, very excited.

Very terrified but I hope you guys hit the subscribe button so you get to see all my

new videos every single day.

I'm very excited to share my life with you.

It's going to be boring some days because I work full-time and I'm not really going

to vlog that but I hope to see you on my channel.

Leave a comment below if you have anything specific you want to see in the month of December

let me know and I will try to fit that in because there are 24 days, 24 videos, 24 ideas.

So let me know.

So one more incentive for you to guys to follow me not only here on Youtube but please follow

me on my Instagram account as well because for the month of December I'm having Sam's

12 days of Samsational Giveaways!

I will be giving away 12 gifts in the month of December leading up to Christmas.

The only difference this year is that my Youtube subscribers you guys will have a chance to

win as well as my Instagram followers.

So I hope you guys stay tuned and I will be posting a video some time during Vlogmas where

I'm prepping the gifts and there will be three special people who will get a personalized

gift delivery from me.

Doing something a little bit different this Christmas to spread the Holiday cheer and

yeah.

I hope to see you next week.

Oh, next video is this Saturday cause this Saturday is December 1st.

So I will see you guys on Saturday.

Til then, Mwah!

Why should you read Kurt Vonnegut? - Mia Nacamulli - Duration: 5:24.

Billy Pilgrim can't sleep

because he knows aliens will arrive to abduct him in one hour.

He knows the aliens are coming because he has become "unstuck" in time,

causing him to experience events out of chronological order.

Over the course of Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-five,

he hops back and forth between a childhood trip to the Grand Canyon,

his life as a middle-aged optometrist,

his captivity in an intergalactic zoo,

the humiliations he endured as a war prisoner, and more.

The title of Slaughterhouse-five and much of its source material

came from Vonnegut's own experiences in World War II.

As a prisoner of war, he lived in a former slaughterhouse in Dresden,

where he took refuge in an underground meat locker

while Allied forces bombed the city.

When he and the other prisoners finally emerged,

they found Dresden utterly demolished.

After the war, Vonnegut tried to make sense of human behavior

by studying an unusual aspect of anthropology:

the shapes of stories,

which he insisted were just as interesting as the shapes of pots or spearheads.

To find the shape, he graphed the main character's fortune

from the beginning to the end of a story.

The zany curves he generated revealed common types of fairy tales and myths

that echo through many cultures.

But this shape can be the most interesting of all.

In a story like this,

it's impossible to distinguish the character's good fortune from the bad.

Vonnegut thought this kind of story was the truest to real life,

in which we are all the victims of a series of accidents,

unable to predict how events will impact us long term.

He found the tidy, satisfying arcs of many stories at odds with this reality,

and he set out to explore the ambiguity

between good and bad fortune in his own work.

When Vonnegut ditched clear-cut fortunes,

he also abandoned straightforward chronology.

Instead of proceeding tidily from beginning to end, in his stories

"All moments, past, present and future always have existed, always will exist."

Tralfamadorians, the aliens who crop up in many of his books,

see all moments at once.

They "can see where each star has been and where it is going,

so that the heavens are filled with rarefied, luminous spaghetti."

But although they can see all of time,

they don't try to change the course of events.

While the Trafalmadorians may be at peace with their lack of agency,

Vonnegut's human characters are still getting used to it.

In The Sirens of Titan,

when they seek the meaning of life in the vastness of the universe,

they find nothing but "empty heroics, low comedy, and pointless death."

Then, from their vantage point within a "chrono-synclastic infundibulum,"

a man and his dog see devastating futures for their earthly counterparts,

but can't change the course of events.

Though there aren't easy answers available, they eventually conclude

that the purpose of life is "to love whoever is around to be loved."

In Cat's Cradle, Vonnegut's characters turn to a different source of meaning:

Bokonism,

a religion based on harmless lies that all its adherents recognize as lies.

Though they're aware of Bokonism's lies,

they live their lives by these tenets anyway,

and in so doing develop some genuine hope.

They join together in groups called Karasses, which consist of people we

"find by accident but […] stick with by choice"—

cosmically linked around a shared purpose.

These are not to be confused with Granfalloons,

groups of people who appoint significance to actually meaningless associations,

like where you grew up, political parties, and even entire nations.

Though he held a bleak view of the human condition, Vonnegut believed strongly that

"we are all here to help each other get through this thing, whatever it is."

We might get pooped and demoralized,

but Vonnegut interspersed his grim assessments

with more than a few morsels of hope.

His fictional alter ego, Kilgore Trout, supplied this parable:

two yeast sat "discussing the possible purposes of life

as they ate sugar and suffocated in their own excrement.

Because of their limited intelligence,

they never came close to guessing that they were making champagne."

In spite of his insistence that we're all here to fart around,

in spite of his deep concerns about the course of human existence,

Vonnegut also advanced the possibility, however slim,

that we might end up making something good.

And if that isn't nice, what is?
