Michael Cohen made a surprise appearance in a New York courtroom on Thursday to enter a guilty plea for lying to Congress about work that he did on a secret Trump real estate project to erect a Trump Tower in Moscow.

Cohen said he lied about both the timing of the tower negotiations, which happened during Trump's presidential run, and other details that needed to be consistent with Trump's "political message," the Associated Press reports.

This is not Cohen's first guilty plea, but it is new knowledge regarding a business deal with Russia that Trump may have actively been engaged with during his presidential run.

Here's what you need to know:.

Trump's Company Was Pursuing the Trump Tower Plan in 2015 & Early 2016.

In the early stages of Trump's presidential campaign in late 2015 and early 2016, his company was actively pursuing a plan to create a Trump Tower in Moscow, Russia, according to The Washington Post.

It's not clear to what extent Trump had knowledge of the negotiations, but Cohen served as the lead negotiator for the Trump Organization.

Trump never went to Moscow, though his company did sign a letter of intent on the project.

Cohen explored the possibility of a Trump Tower in Moscow as early as fall 2015.

He did so with a longtime business associate who has helped Trump in negotiations before and is Russian-born: Felix Sater.

Sater reportedly emailed Cohen, "I will get Putin on this program and we will get Donald elected.

Buddy our boy can become President of the USA and we can engineer it.

I will get all of Putins [sic] team to buy in on this.".

Sater's email was a part of a New York Times report that showed how many of Trump aides believed that the company's business negotiations in Russia might help him win the presidency.

The Negotiations on the Moscow Project Ended Before Russian Interference Became a Controversy in the Campaign.

The negotiations for a Moscow Trump Tower ended in 2016, right before the presidential primaries and before questions of Russian interference became a massive controversy in Trump's presidential campaign and subsequent presidency.

In July 2016, Trump tweeted that he had zero business connections to Russia.

He wrote, "for the record, I have ZERO investments in Russia.".

However, there is proof that Trump was actively involved in his company's efforts to make a building in Moscow in the past.

Sater said in an unrelated court case in 2008 that he would provide Trump with "verbal updates" on their efforts.

He said, "When I'd come back, pop my head into Mr Trump's office and tell him, you know, 'Moving forward on the Moscow deal.' And he would say, 'All right.'".

Prior to His Presidential Run, Trump Has Been Outspoken About His Interests in Building in Moscow and Russia Overall.

Trump didn't make any public statements about a Trump Tower in Moscow at any point in 2015 or 2016.

However, he has had longstanding interests in building in Russia, and The Washington Post reports that Trump attempted to build a Trump Property for three decades in Moscow, an attempt that has yet to succeed.

In a 2007 court deposition, Trump said, "Russia is one of the hottest places in the world for investment…we will be in Moscow at some point.

The Trump Tower Was Meant to Be a 'Sheer, Glass-Encased Obelisk' That Stood Taller Than Any Other Building in Moscow, BuzzFeed News Reports.

According to a BuzzFeed News report in May, the Trump Tower was meant to be over 100 stories, be situated on the river, and rise above every other building in Moscow.

Felix Sater, a developer who has negotiated deals around the world for Trump, was the lead alongside Cohen within these negotiations.

Sater has since told the Senate Intelligence Committee that Cohen was the "intermediary" for Trump and that he wanted to "score points with Trump" from this deal.

BuzzFeed News also reports that Robert Mueller intended to ask Trump directly a question about the Trump Tower in Moscow, though it's unclear whether that question has actually been asked.

The question is: "What communication did you have with Michael D.

Cohen, Felix Sater, and others, including foreign nationals, about Russian real estate developments during the campaign?".

As a Part of Cohen's New Deal With Mueller, He Will Provide 'Dozens of Hours' of Testimony.

According to Vox, Cohen's new deal with Mueller includes a promise to provide "dozens of hours of testimony potentially damaging" to Trump.

Cohen has already pleaded guilty to bank fraud, tax fraud, and campaign finance charges.

But this is the first time he's been charged as a part of the Russia investigation.

Enrique Tarrio has succeeded Gavin McInnes as the leader of the Proud Boys.

Tarrio, 34, confirmed his ascension to the top of the Proud Boy ranks in an interview with Heavy.com.

The new leader said, "Yes, I am the new chairman of the Proud Boys International." Tarrio described his election to the role saying, "Basically, how the process works is since our organization has a very loose structure, chapter autonomy is big for us, so basically we have the presidents and vice presidents of a respective chapter and they go ahead and vote in what we've always had is a membership of eight elder and those eight elders go ahead and elect the chairman.".

On November 21, Gavin McInnes, the founder of the group, resigned from the Proud Boys.

McInnes said in a YouTube video, "As of today… I am officially disassociating myself from the Proud Boys." McInnes went on to say that his leaving in the group was in part due to who he, and Tarrio, referred to as the "New York Nine." Nine associates of the Proud Boys were involved in a brawl with Antifa activists outside of the Metropolitan Republican Club in New York City on October 12.

McInnes said in his video resignation, "I am told my legal team and law enforcement that this gesture could help alleviate their sentencing.

Fine, at the very least this will show jurors they are not dealing with a gang and there is no head of operations." On the same day as McInnes' resignation, Milo Yiannopoulos, also announced he was leaving the group.

Tarrio Believes the 'NYC 9' Acted in Self-Defense.

Tarrio told Heavy that he believes the "New York City 9" acted in "self-defense." Tarrio said, "It's clearly, if you look at the video, anybody who looks at the video, it's clearly in self-defense.

It was done right before mid-terms.

We believe like political pawns, per se." Tarrio went on to say that the group are not being represented by Jason Lee Van Dyke, who had previously acted as the group's counsel.

Van Dyke had briefly served as chairman, Tarrio said that he had been in place "temporarily" to aid in the election of a permanent chairman and to help to write the group's by-laws.

Van Dyke has "stepped away" from the group, Tarrio said.

Tarrio Said the Proud Boys 'Will Not Change What We Do'.

Tarrio told Heavy that under his leadership the group will "not change what we do." He adds, "We're just, basically, a group of guys that hang out and drink beer together and just have a good time.

Obviously, we're a political group but that's secondary in nature.

We just enjoy our time with our brotherhood." Tarrio went on to say that the group would continue in the same direction by following a new set of by-laws.

Tarrio Says the Group's Masturbation Law Is 'Some Type of Joke' That Could Be a Way of Bringing the Left & Right Together.

Tarrio says that the Proud Boys' "anti-masturbation thing," a law that says members can only masturbate once a month and not view pornography, is "some type of joke." Tarrio said, "This anti-masturbation thing, there's a whole bunch of rituals that we have that are all set off in comedy, here I'm gonna speak from my personal accord… the only way we could bring the left and the right together, there's only one thing that brings us together and that's comedy.

Let's me and you are at a bar, and me and you have differing points of views on politics, do you think that we're gonna change each other's minds by going ahead and arguing what I consider to be facts and what you consider to be facts? We're not gonna get anywhere with that.

The only way that we can go ahead and, kind of like, bond with each other, is if we don't take ourselves seriously and we make fun of each other or make fun of ourselves." Tarrio said that among the group, they "roast each other all the time.".

Tarrio said he was "lured" to the Proud Boys because it was a similar atmosphere to the home where he grew up.

I was brought up in that environment, so that kind of brings me into the fuckery that comes along with being a Proud Boy," Tarrio says.

"We're not angry bunch.

It's actually a celebration of the west, is what we consider, we want to celebrate what our founding fathers have built, but before anything, we want to celebrate it.

We live in the best country on earth, it's not perfect, it's far from perfect… our prison system is all fucked up.

Our immigration system is all fucked up.

We just want to fix it… I feel like we have been demonized for doing that.

I don't have social media because of [the demonization].

I had to make an alt-Facebook account just to talk to my family," Tarrio said.

Tarrio Says: 'We Don't Want to Silence Antifa'.

Tarrio denied any allegations that his group is out to silence Antifa.

Tarrio said, "We don't want to silence Antifa or anything.

We want them to be able to express themselves.

We want them to come protest us.

That's the joy of living in this country.

You can protest anything without violence or without death threats.

I get death threats constantly.

I brush them off." Tarrio says, "I'm not hiding from anybody.

I'm not masked.

I don't use an alternate name or an alternate handle… Some of our guys do have to hide their membership and they're really not political they just come to drink beer.

They have regular jobs but Antifa's like, 'Oh, this guy's a Proud Boy, he must be a Nazi.' That's it.

They go ahead and they make a PR nightmare for example, that guy who works for Comcast.

He got fired from his job… [Members] have to keep [their membership] quiet.

They shouldn't have to keep it quiet." Earlier in November 2018, Andrew Kovalic, a 10-year employee of Comcast, was fired from his job after he was revealed to be a member of the Proud Boys.

Philly Mag reports that a petition started by the Media Mobilizing Project helped to lead to his firing.

3 Tips to Keep the Weight Off During the Holidays - Duration: 4:14.

Holidays, holidays…

The time of celebratory indulgences with a hint of dread about losing all of your hard-earned

fitness gainz.

Although typically this is the time of the year where we set aside our meal preps and

macro calculators to instead, enjoy time with our families, it doesn't mean that we should

just forget all about our delicate goals.

There are still a number of things we can do that might help us stay the course without

entirely ruining our festive feasts.

And grandma will thank you for it after serving you a fourth and fifth scoop of her famous

mash potatoes.

Here are three tips you should consider to help you keep some of the weight off during

the holidays.

Number 1, Finish your proteins first.

Your lean meats, your nuts, your eggs, and even your beans.

These are the things to eat first along with your greens.

Most of us, instead, tend to immediately go for the delicious carby goodness.

However, doing so, might actually lead us to eating much more than had we eaten our

proteins first.

Proteins are the most satiating, or filling food out of the three primary macronutrients

of proteins, fats, and carbs.

Time and again we have seen that people naturally eat less and gain less fat when consuming

more protein.

The lower fat gain might be attributed to protein's higher cost of energy to break

down in our bodies.

Plus, protein is less likely to be metabolized for energy, where carbs in the form of glucose

and fats in the form of fatty acids have much higher priority.

This means less protein converted into fat.

Of course, protein is also imperative to muscle protein synthesis, aka help you with your

muscle gains.

Get your proteins first, and honestly, not just for the holidays, but preferably all

of your meals if you have a fat or weight loss goal.

This doesn't mean you can't enjoy all of the other fatty and carby dishes.

You certainly still can, just eat your protein first and maybe you'll be satisfied enough

with a smaller portion of the other dishes.

Number 2, Offer to Cook.

It's time to show off the cooking skills you've accumulated from all the hard work

on meal prepping.

No doubt you'll get a big fat kiss from your parents for even offering to help, but

also, just like your meal preps, you're able to control the ingredients that go into

the dishes.

Like… adding more protein, *wink wink.* Or less sugar, less oil, etcetera.

Whatever it may be, this control means you can tailor a dish to be friendlier to yours

and probably all of your family members' goals.

Sure, you wouldn't want to change the recipes too much where the dish becomes too bland,

or else this would be the last holiday dinner you'll be cooking.

But, at least knowing what IS going into your dish is better than not.

You'll be better equipped to plan around it.

And let's not forgot all the calories you will be burning in the kitchen.

Cooking, especially for a big family, is no easy feat.

So, get the oven heated and try not to burn the food as much as you're going to burn

them calories.

And…

Number 3, Plan Ahead This one is probably the best advice you can

have to keep yourself from turning into jolly old Saint Nick himself.

If you don't want to even THINK about changing any part of your holiday feasting, then it's

best that you plan ahead.

In this case, every big, festive eating day should be treated just like a cheat day.

Like any cheat day, sticking to a calorie deficit during this time would prove useful

in order to mitigate all the damage you're going to do.

That means getting consistent exercise for as many days as possible and making sure your

nutrition is in peak shape.

The more days you can plan ahead, the better.

For example, if you think you're going to eat around 5,000 calories during the holiday,

3 weeks of a 240-calorie daily deficit is better 1 week of 715 daily calories.

And it doesn't have to be days before the holiday, but also days after.

A very strong exercise session the day of your feasting is also a good idea so that

you can take advantage of all the extra nutrients to feed your hungry muscles.

And the thing is, you probably already KNOW that you SHOULD plan ahead before even watching

this video.

Now that you've actually heard someone else tell you this, hopefully you will follow through

just as you will follow through in downing all four different slices of pie…

Paul Caneiro is a New Jersey man who is now accused of murdering his brother and his brother's entire family and then setting fire to their million-dollar Colts Neck mansion and his own home.

The family members who died in the mass murder were Paul Caneiro's brother, Keith Caneiro; Keith's wife, Jennifer Caneiro; and Keith and Jennifer's two children, Sophia and Jesse.

Keith Caneiro was shot multiple times.

Paul Caneiro was charged with four counts of murder, aggravated arson, and possession of a knife and firearm for unlawful purpose.

Paul Caneiro was previously accused of purposefully setting fire "to his Ocean Township home that same morning while his wife and two daughters slept," prosecutors say.

Paul Caneiro's wife and children were not injured.

After murdering the Keith Caneiro family, the defendant then set fire to his own house in an effort to conceal his crimes, prosecutors allege.

"The defendant murdered his brother, Keith Caneiro, and Keith's entire family… during the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 20," the chief prosecutor said in a news conference.

"Specifically, we allege that the defendant repeatedly shot and killed his brother while he was outside the side of his home, and then moved to murder the rest of the family inside the home.

We allege that Jennifer was shot and stabbed, and the two Caneiro children were repeatedly stabbed by knife.".

Here's what you need to know about the Caneiro family:.

Keith & Paul Caneiro Had Joint Business Ventures Together.

The motive was financial in nature as a result of the brothers' joint business ventures, prosecutors allege, but they weren't specific.

They accuse Paul Caneiro of setting fire to his own home as a ruse to make it look like the entire family was targeted.

Paul Caneiro's attorney has said he is innocent of any charges.

According to The New York Times, the brothers "co-owned a technology consulting firm and a pest control firm that were in the same building in Asbury Park" and had a business relationship with each other for several decades.

Keith started the technology with Paul as his first employee, the newspaper reported, and the company's name blended both of their middle names.

Keith Caneiro's obituary says Keith "earned his undergraduate and master's degrees from Columbia University.

He was the CEO of Square One Co., Asbury Park.".

Keith "loved spending time with his family and his dog Sydney in Greece and New Jersey," the obituary continues.

"He was an altruistic person, who would help everyone and anyone who needed his assistance.

Keith enjoyed the Aspire Gym, Colts Neck.

He was an avid reader, often reading 3 or 4 books in a week.

He was a passionate sports fan and a loving husband and father.".

A woman who knew Keith Caneiro wrote on his tribute page, "Keith, I am so sorry this happened … it's just so wrong.

We worked together when you were our computer person at Citi in 1988, and I was so happy we got to reconnect in the past few years.

I will always remember what a good person you were .

so smart and funny, such a loving father and husband.".

A man who knew him wrote, "Keith was well known and well liked by everyone at the Columbia Masters program he graduated from- he always a grin a joke for everyone and he will be very sadly missed by all that knew him.

A man who sold Keith Porsche cars wrote, "I always enjoyed working with Keith, when he came in to purchase his Porsche's from me.

There was so much 'give and take,' with Keith, it was mostly give, but the experience was always fun, and we ended up friends for all the years……I always enjoyed his Dad, Cesar, who gave a calmness to the experience.".

Jennifer Caneiro Was a PTO Member Who Loved Throwing Holiday Parties.

Jennifer Caneiro was the daughter of Bette and Vlassis Karidis.

The obituary for Jennifer Caneiro says she was 45, a graduate of the University of Albany, and an active member of the Conover Road School PTO.

"She enjoyed being with her husband Keith and their children Jesse and Sophia.

Jennifer loved to host family parties for every holiday at her home," the obituary reads.

"She enjoyed exercising, going to the beach and traveling with her family to their home in Greece.".

A neighbor wrote on her tribute wall, "I missed you guys so dearly My heart is hurting so much.

I will always remember you all I love you all.

I will never ever forget you thank you for everything for being such a good neighbor, your friendships and kindness thank you for welcoming our family to your home and treat us as one of your family.".

Sophia Caneiro Enjoyed Baking & Loved the New York Yankees.

The obituaries of the Caneiro children are heartbreaking.

The obituary for Sophia Alexis Caneiro, who was 8, says that she was a third grader at Conover Road School in Colts Neck, New Jersey.

"She was member of the Colts Neck Girl Scouts, she participated in the Colts Neck Recreation program.

She loved taking Ninja classes," the obit reads.

"Sophia enjoyed baking with her mom and her nanny Claudia.

She loved ice skating, gymnastics and the New York Yankees.

Sophia was a vibrant, enthusiastic and precocious girl, who enjoyed the arts.

Her positive energy was contagious.".

A woman who knew Sophia wrote on her tribute page, "Sophia my Sophia I will always remember the first time we met you were so cute and funny I will miss your smile and whenever I make (your favorite) and cheese I will always make you a small plate for you.

My girls will miss you dearly we will miss you too thank you for being such a good friend.

You are a very beautiful.

kind and funny girl.)".

Jesse Caneiro Loved Videogames & World War II History.

Jesse Caneiro was only 11-years-old when he died.

According to his obituary, Jesse was a 5th grade student at Conover Road School, Colts Neck.

"He excelled in history, especially WWI and WWII, and he could have a conversation with anyone about current world events," the obit reads.

"Jesse enjoyed technology and learning about all the functions of the latest computers, phones and watches.

He loved to play the video game fort night and building amazing structures with Legos.

Jesse participated in the Colts Neck Recreation Sports programs.".

Jesse also liked traveling with his family and his grandparents to their home in Greece.

His page also filled up with tributes.

Wrote one woman, "Jesse, thank you for being a big brother for (the woman's son) he always wanted to have a big brother and god answered his prayer he will miss you dearly you are a wonderful boy.

You are his best friend forever.".

The Brothers Grew Up on Staten Island.

An obituary says the brothers were the sons of Sherry and Cesar Caneiro.

Paul and Keith also have another sibling named Corey Caneiro, who is married to Elisa.

Paul is married to Susan Caneiro, and the couple has two adult daughters, according to The New York Times.

The New York Times reported that the "brothers grew up in Staten Island and moved to Brooklyn…and they married women from Staten Island and moved to New Jersey.

According to the The Times, "Keith was the best man at Paul's wedding in 1991, according to a wedding announcement in the Staten Island Advance.

Brown faces on charge of attempted murder in the shooting of Brian Wilson, who was the friend of Emantic Bradford.

Bradford was a 21-year-old man who was shot and killed by police in the wake of the shooting.

Brown was found after authorities received a tip about his whereabouts, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Brown's bond is set at $125,000.

On Thanksgiving evening, Brown opened fire in the Riverchase Galleria in Hoover, Alabama.

Two people were wounded, and Bradford was shot and killed, though not by Brown.

Just before 10 PM on Black Friday, shots were fired.

Two Hoover Police Department Officers were on holiday security detail at the mall.

Though Brown escaped without capture, one of the officers shot dead the man they suspected was responsible for the shooting: Emantic Bradford Jr.

Brown will not be charged for the death of Bradford.

The Mall Shooting Made National Headlines After Bradford Was Erroneously Identified as the Shooter.

Following the shooting, the wrongful death of Emantic Bradford brought the story into national media coverage, with many wondering why Bradford was shot by the authorities.

The narrative around Bradford's death was altered multiple times by authorities, who first claimed he was "brandishing" a weapon then later said he was only holding a gun at the scene.

Bradford was reported to be an active duty U.S.

Army soldier who was home for Thanksgiving at the time of the shooting.

AL.com later clarified that Bradford had not completed basic training and was honorably discharged.

Bradford's Family has hired a prominent civil rights lawyer, Benjamin Crump.

Crump has also represented the families of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown in recent years.

Via Crump, the Bradford family released the following statement: "Our family is completely shocked, heartbroken and devastated at the tragic death of our beloved 'E.J.' E.J.

was a devoted son and brother who dedicated his life to serving his country and always doing the right thing.

As we continue to grieve, rest assured that we our working with our legal team to determine exactly what happened and why this police officer killed our son.

We will never forget E.J.

and ask for your continued prayers during this incredibly difficult time.".

In Addition to a Charge of Attempted Murder, Brown Will Likely Face More Charges.

Brown is currently being held on one count of attempted murder, but authorities say he is likely to receive additional charges in the coming days.

One of the People Injured in the Shooting, a 12-Year-Old Girl, Was Aided by an Army National Guard Soldier.

Rashad Billingsley is an 18-year-old army national guard soldier who applied pressure to the wound of the 12-year-old girl who was shot.

To ABC, he said, "I had told a police officer to go grab me a jacket so I could apply pressure to the wound.

Because it was on her back, I couldn't apply a tourniquet which stops the blood flow from going to the actual wound.

So the only thing I could do was put pressure into the wound to stop the bleeding.".

The girl is expected to make a full recovery.
