How to get your first 10,000 subscribers on YouTube? (Genius Talk ft. Brian G Johnson) - Duration: 33:25.

You need the knowledge of how SEO works but you also need the authority

I believe it comes down to sacrifice and you really focus on the process rather

than the result the process of making a great video learning to edit learning to

make thumbnails learning how to speak on camera learning and learning then over

time you'll start getting the result

hey guys, welcome to another edition of Animaker Genius Talk

a talk show where we interviewed genius minds from the world

of videos and transfer some of their amazing knowledge to you today we have a

very special guest in the house I am pleased to present to you successful

youtuber and very successful author Brian G Johnson welcome to the show

Brian I'm happy to have you here today it's great to be here thank you so much

for having me I'm excited to share today and hang out all right let me explain

how this is gonna work today we have three amazing sections and through these

sections we're gonna find out how to get the first 10,000 subscribers on YouTube

all right

every great story always starts with the hero's journey Brian today you're the hero

of the show so tell us how your journey started off in the youtube world

well actually again it's great to be here thanks for having me on the show

and my journey started as a professional chef and I was really interested in

getting started with internet marketing and I remember when YouTube was just

coming out in fact hang on and looking at my iPhone now today and it's

amazing what we can do with these devices and when I started it was

actually 2007 and we didn't really have the capabilities to film on a mobile

device but there was a small camcorder called the Flip camcorder that came out

and it really made it easy to create videos and I was creating a lot of

websites to make money and whatnot and I thought it would be great to be able to

have videos on the sites as well so I had a a simple device that allowed me to

create videos and I also had YouTube was just launching this is again 11 years

ago that's that's like dinosaur ages on the internet you know 11 years is a long

time and I felt like it's gonna be easy enough for me to get started and make

nice videos add them to my website and that's really how I began the process of

really exploring YouTube to move forward

Wow a chef to a youtuber that's

definitely an amazing journey all right so you are a very successful author today

your book Tube Ritual volume I has become very successful among the video

creators community but when I came across your book for the first time

there was one question that really popped into my mind as a professional

video creator and an expert at that too why did you choose to have a book over a

series of videos or a video course ah so for me personally I I am into

creating content and one of the things to think about is

what are the different ways that you can reach people to grab authority to get

yourself out there and whatnot and a lot of people are excited to read they like

to sit down maybe it's on their phone or a Kindle or they buy an actual

paperback book and they read in in a few years earlier

I launched this book trust funnel and that process was was great for me and I

enjoyed the process it got my name out there

got me some speaking gigs and so on so I thought what I would do is I would start

writing another book as I was doing the videos so I wouldn't say I necessarily

decided to do videos or or write a book rather over videos I was really

doing both alright so you just chose books as another medium to get your

content out there right yeah exactly one of the things to think about that really

went through my mind was I'll be able to write a book and people that are on

Amazon are gonna find the book they're gonna read the book and then they're

gonna come find my channel and it will be one more way in which I can grow my

channel and and not just grow the channel too but really establish myself

as someone that's passionate about video and it would also put some fire under me

to take my video game up to the next level which is great you know we have to

really push ourselves to do the best job we can and here I was writing a book

about video so I had to get good at video really fast

well that's definitely an amazing motivation to up your game alright Brian

we've come to the end of section 1 the next section is a very interesting section

I am going to throw some questions at you

I'm gonna find maximum value from your answers and pass on that

value to my audience all right

let's do it

perfect the first question that I have for you is on another episode of genius

talk when I was talking to Rand Fishkin he gave me this amazing analogy about

YouTube he compared YouTube to the chicken egg

problem when you get viewers you get subscribers I mean

the subscribers and when you get the views alright so my question to you is as a

beginner but I don't have the viewers are the subscribers how do I go about

gaining both and how do I get my first 10,000 views and my first 10,000

subscribers this is a great question and it's a very popular question how is it

possible when there are these channels that are so big and I'm just starting

out and I don't have the subscriber base and it can be frightening but what's

really exciting to think about is that if YouTube created an algorithm or a

platform that only rewarded big creators then there would never be any new

creators coming on the platform that would be able to get views it would be

impossible because YouTube basically the algorithm like you said would only

reward those channels that already have the ability to drive views and the truth

of the matter is that watch time is a phrase that's thrown around so very

often and if we really dig in there are many different watch time metrics it's

not one metric that's why if you go into your analytics you see things like

average view duration minutes watched you see percentage view you see audience

retention that's four different watch time metrics and if you number one if

you believe that you can and you strive to create great videos and you practice

keeping viewers watching you practice editing you focus on SEO you understand

where the competition is then you absolutely can move forward you can

publish videos and you will drive views because at the end of the day there are

basically four words maybe five words that dictates how the algorithm works

and it's expected watch time per impression which means the watch time is

just not how long people are watching but it's how often number one viewers

are clicking on your thumbnail so if YouTube shows your video thumbnail in

search results but nobody clicks it that's bad because you're expected watch

time is going to go down dramatically the second component of expected watch

time per impression is average view duration which is basically how long

they're watching your video now what's really exciting is this information

comes from YouTube we can trust this that that's how it works so if you

increase how often people click on your thumbnails and you increase how long

they actually watch which we're in control of you can drive views now here's

the really exciting part I know this sounds difficult for a lot of people but

what I can tell you was when I launched my channel there are a handful of videos

today two years later that actually have over a hundred thousand views and those

videos were published when my channel was less than maybe two months old I had

maybe four or five hundred subscribers and yet today I just checked I just was

taking a screenshot and one of the videos is Apple marketing strategy

currently for for my account I rank number two in YouTube and I gotta be

honest my friend the audio is bad the video quality isn't the greatest and yet

because it's got a good thumbnail so people are clicking and because the

quality is just good enough I've been able to drive over a hundred thousand

views and anybody can do the same how do you pick the keywords for which you have

to rank on the first page and more importantly how do you make sure that

you stay on the first page of that search word really really great question

this is the this is where youtubers struggle and this is a reality a lot of

people will say by YouTube you know they reward big channels if we're really

honest the end of the day it's up to us to make

good decisions and it's hard it's hard to know how to choose a keyword phrase

to target here are some ideas that will allow you to choose a keyword phrase for

the video that you're gonna publish and I guarantee if you follow these steps

you'll do better I guarantee it in fact it's funny I'm actually working

on a video right now that covers this very thing and it's interesting because

I just found some new information directly from YouTube inside YouTube

studio beta and they tell us about keywords and they tell us where to put

the keywords how to optimize the keywords but they don't answer the

question how do you choose which keywords you should you should target

think about this when you're targeting a keyword phrase we're talking about

language and people talk and think in different words if I want to buy a let's

say I want to buy a painting from a store well I might search online for buy

painting but someone else might search for order paint painting and someone

else might search for purchase painting at the end of the day they mean the same

exact thing in what that means is that if you slow down and really think

through I'm gonna create a video about paintings and I want people to find my

paintings so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna look at all the possible search

terms that people might search for I'm gonna look then look at the top ranking

videos in YouTube and it's really actually pretty easy to do and and to

dramatically improve your results for example when I started excuse me when I

started I I had that new channel and I did well and I published the video on

Apple branding strategy I started driving views because it was not as

competitive as some of the other phrases on YouTube and then I wanted to start

talking about YouTube so i targeted how to get views or actually how to get more

views on YouTube and I was obliterated in fact

today I still don't have the authority that uh that I would go after that

phrase I might get lucky in once in a while I'll dip my toe in the water I'll

try but more often I'll ask myself what are other ways that viewers might be

searching for the same thing most people think how to get more views on YouTube

but you can use a thesaurus you can take thesaurus and it will help you

identify words that are very similar so I asked myself well really what we're

talking about if we boil down the phrases more views now if I think to

myself what's a related word to more well one of the things I found was

increase increase and more kind of mean the same thing so I thought okay well

let me go to youtube and see if people are searching for increase and they were

but I also saw boost turns out that boost is related to more and it's also

related to increase and if you start going down this path of really thinking

of all the different ways people are thinking and how they're searching

you'll dramatically increase your opportunity on YouTube because the next

step is to simply we want to search for the keyword phrase and pay attention to

how many views the ranking videos have so if all the videos have 250,000 views

well that's a lot of views and I probably can't drive that so I'm gonna

search for increase views and right when I started doing that I was able to rank

more in my videos and and that's how you get your foot in the door and what

happens is slowly over time you get more and more powerful you get more

subscribers and you get to a point where you can target the biggest keyword

phrases because you have the knowledge to apply the SEO and you also have the

channel authority to pull it out off you need both you need the knowledge of how

SEO works but you also need the authority with the channel and and

that's how that's how I've done it and it's worked really well

as a beginner on YouTube how do you get discovered you know when we talked about

how to get views how to target the right keyword phrases when you combine that

with a well-structured channel it will allow you to get discovered to get

discovered and to grow so what I do is I start off with clients that I work with

and I mentioned things like select one broad topic it might be entrepreneurship

or it might be video marketing you might create a channel on cooking but stick to

one broad thing and then think about three sub niches so let's take cooking

for example you might have a playlist on low-fat you might have a playlist on

Italian and you might have a playlist on really simple easy to cook recipes now

by focusing on those three sub niches in one broad topic you'll dramatically

increase the likelihood that A someone finds your video and then B they watch

multiple videos because your channel has a nice theme and this is where a lot of

youtubers struggle and if I'm honest like this is a struggle because as

humans we want to do a lot of different things and for me personally I believe

it comes down to sacrifice if you really want to grow you have to be willing to

sacrifice to get what you want like I would I would love to cover a lot

of different topics and I'm just I'm just broadening my channel now just a

bit and I'm really going slow because I don't want to go too broad too fast it

can really cause havoc on the channel so well a technical question and you came

up with the philosophical answer about sacrifice but it definitely makes sense

all right the next question is an interesting question Brian that I have

for you is supposing if there are two equally valuable videos that give you

equal amount of information about a particular topic and one video comes

from a monetized channel and another one comes from a non monetized channel do

you really believe that the YouTube algorithm would give weightage to the

monetized video in their search ranking because it generates revenue for them

I don't believe so so what YouTube has said is that the search Department

search and discovery the algorithm people the people that tweak the

algorithm and and try to decide which videos should be promoted and which ones

shouldn't that department is completely separate to the folks that work on

monetization and I personally believe that in fact some of the experience that

I've gained over the last two and a half years is I didn't monetize my channel

until I had over 8,000 subscribers so I had driven probably about 750,000 views

so we're talking three quarters of a million views without a monetized

channel so I was able to rank I didn't have any problem at all and and it

wasn't really an issue its I think you know a lot of the questions that I hear

from people is like ah it seems like there are all these things against me

and in the truth of the matter is it's hard it is challenging and I'm not gonna

say it's easy because I don't want to build people up with pipe dreams I want

people to be able to move forward and the thing that I see stopping so many

people is unrealistic expectations you know we get really excited about

starting a channel we published some videos and we in more disappointed with

our results it's even when you know this like I've been really hustling the last

eight or nine days I published seven videos in a row in these are videos that

I'm spending six seven hours editing so that's filming editing for six or seven

hours a day and I'm like where okay I want more you know but over time what I

found is that as long as I just focus and my expectations are based in reality

I get great results and I do grow sometimes it happens on a different

timeframe though well that's a great piece of advice

expectations is definitely a problem that all youtubers are facing today all

right the next big question is about you Brian usually you have a small engaged

and super competitive niche for your channel right

helping youtubers create better videos so as beginners what is the advice that

you would give us in finding the right niche a really really great question I

absolutely love it and for me personally it really starts off with what are you

trying to accomplish I think this is super super important if you're doing it

to make money then that has to be a really big

consideration you just can't start a channel because you're passionate about

meditation you could certainly monetize meditation videos but there might be a

lot of easier ways to make money on YouTube maybe selling information

products around health and weight loss maybe that would allow you to rank

faster and also sell products excuse me to allow you to move forward and

get those results that you're after so I think it really starts off with what are

you trying to accomplish and then number two what are you what are you excited

about and what can you talk about for a period of time like YouTube YouTube is a

long game YouTube isn't something you'd set up and I'm gonna test it out and

again this is really a big mindset I see with a lot of people is well I'm gonna

see if how it works so I'm gonna publish a few videos and unfortunately it's it's

so disappointing for me because I see a lot of people that they give up on month

two and I've had so many videos myself that blew up on month three so it makes

me wonder you know those people that started they published 15 videos and

then they quit I bet some of those videos they published are now ranking

and they're driving views but they've already moved on which is really a

bummer so I think really just starting off with

what are you trying to accomplish and then think it down what are you

passionate about what can you talk about over a year two years like I really love

I've always done video I've done video since 2007 2006 like I said but I never

really focused on it until I started the channel I have today and I figured you

know I can talk about SEO I can talk about the algorithm I can talk about

being creative and I can monetize my channel which was important and I can I

can be a speaker and speak about video marketing and all of these things helped

me make my decision for the niche I would choose and I think this is how to

really go forward and just and choose a niche that makes the most sense again

beginning with what do you want to achieve and then number two what are you

passionate about and also like is there some overlap when you find a topic that

you're passionate about where there's an audience that's excited to receive the

information and you really focus on the process rather than the result the

process of making a great video learning to edit learning to make thumbnails

learning how to speak on camera learning and learning then over time you'll start

getting the results that you set out to get well a great piece of advice but I

was really fascinated by that audience thing that you pointed out in your last

answer and that leads me to the next question you have created an amazing FB community

right and the Facebook community that you have has become so popular among

video creators I myself have been a part of that community for over a year now so

tell us the backstory behind this group I want to start telling an ongoing story

around my channel the hook for my channel was I'm kind of a beginner here

I don't have professional experience with cameras I don't understand how

the cameras work and there's so many settings and I've never really edited

videos I've never really worked with lighting and whatnot I've never done all

these things but I'm gonna figure it out and I'm gonna share my journey along the

way and by the way what we're talking about

here is is called in marketing terms an open-loop and this is something that the

most successful marketers use including youtubers like the whole logan paul and

ksi fight that was an open-loop that fight was not about the fight that fight

was about talking about something that would be epic and would allow logan paul

and ksi to make engaging videos for four or five months and then they had the

fight and guess what it was a draw so now there'll be another fight and

they're gonna continue to talk about it in its an open-loop when i came out with

when i published this book one of the things i did was i sent this book out to

hundreds of people and i never asked them to share it but they did and it

kept showing up in people's Facebook feed and then people started asking

about the book and i was slow to release the book where most authors they wanna

they want to publish the book and get it out there fast i was like this is my

first book and i have to do this right and there's no rush like it's it's much

more powerful to be creating this kind of open loop idea so so that's what i

did with with my channel was i'm gonna try to grow my channel to 10,000

subscribers in a year and i thought one of the places i could tell this story

was in a facebook group specifically targeting not really even targeting but

just with a group of video creators in mind and they can share their knowledge

i can share mine we can ask questions we can work together we can find people to

collaborate with so that's how that's the backstory of how the group just kind

of became in it's interesting a lot of times i'll be very deliberate and i'll

plan my marketing writing a book is a great example however with the facebook

group this was just one day i was like i should probably have a group and i

should probably start telling this story so i created the group and i created

some buzz on facebook because of you know people followed me from my book

than some of the other things I've done and all the open loops that

created and whatnot and then as the group launched all I did was

nurture it in one of the things that can consider with growing a Facebook group

is it's not just about the group creator it's not about the person that creates

the group if all you do is promote if all I was to do was to share my videos

now I share my videos all the time but I also ask I just posted a question right

now to my group and the question was well what's what's more important having

amazing looking thumbnails or a great camera you only get to choose one and

and that's a discussion that we can have now as as as as the group grows and so

on and I think just being present and answering questions and sharing content

sometimes I share other people's videos I share other articles and I also

share my own content whether it's my book whether it's a new product I'm

promoting or whether it's my YouTube videos when you do all of those things

and people can see that you're not just in it to to sell your products but

you're truly dedicated to the group as a whole that will show through and people

will respond to that and they'll invite their pals and and they'll come back and

they'll post questions and then it gets to a point where it's definitely not my

group anymore I might have created the group but it's its own living and

breathing thing and people are there they're joining all the time they're

asking questions they're supporting one another and for me that's a really big

motivator is to help people and create the sense of community to wrap up and to

talk about how I do use the group to promote videos one of the things I do is

when I release a video now I will post it to my to the group I did create it

it's not my group but I did create it and then I'll link to the to the video

in the post now it's interesting on a profile what I would do is I would I

would create a post and I would add the thumbnail to the post and then I would

say the link to the video is in the comments but in a group

you can actually pin or create an announcement so what I do is I create an

announcement and then any time someone comes into the group the first thing

they see is the latest announcement which is probably or usually one of my

videos with the thumbnail and then it says watch and there's a link so so

that's kind of how you can leverage the power of a group in it here's the last

thing really interesting the group today is over 9,500 members and the amount of

views that I get from the group is about 2% maybe one or two percent the amount

of views I get from Google is far surpasses it's maybe twenty times

greater what I get from Google versus what I get from the group and why I'm

sharing that is at the beginning of this talk we talked about the power of

choosing the right keyword phrases and the reason I Drive so much so many views

from Google and YouTube is because I'm very deliberate with the keywords that I

that I select so that's that's the thing to focus on and over time a group will

grow and it's an asset and you want to build one but but but honor honor the

fact that you can drive so many more views through YouTube in Google wow you

have definitely managed to nurture the video creators in your group as a part

of your group I'm really proud to say that you have definitely created a very

healthy living breathing being there all right Brian we've come to the end of section two

This is going to be a rapid-fire section I'm going to throw some questions at you

I want you to give me quick answers without much of thought let's do it

all right your favorite youtuber apart from yourself

Nick Nimmin he's your best

buddy right he was here a friend of mine okay what is one moment that your

channel really blew up from and what is the reason behind it for me I would say

that was in the fall of last year and what happened was I was able to triple

my views or not triple my views triple my subscribers so this is kind of

exciting the same amount of views but now three times the amount of

subscribers and what I did to make that happen was I always tried to figure out

like the right keywords I always thought about like how can I position my content

so I get in front of more people and so I had the SEO part like I was really

focusing on that and I had that dialed in and I was always asking like how can

i edit a better video and can I come up with a better thumbnail and how can I

like my videos better and I kept trying new things and experimenting and and

again you know I started out from zero I didn't have the technical background

that a lot of successful youtubers have so it took me some time and basically

once I got to the fall of last year it came together and that allowed me to

really not just drive the views but gain the subscribers as well all right next

question is three important steps that you are taking right now to take your

videos to a million subscribers awesome brand new thumbnails probably the fourth

version of my thumbnails always be improving number two I took back editing

on my own videos to learn editing even better to improve my editing and so on

number three how many did you ask for three or four three three number three

to not just know how important it is to use those keyword phrases but to not be

greedy and try to go for something that's a little bit too competitive so

really focus on a sure bet a keyword phrase that's gonna be easier to rank

for so I can think I'd like to think about it as a baseball game if you try

to up you step up to the plate and the pitcher pitches the ball and you gotta

swing and you might try to swing for a home run but you might miss but if I can

just get on bass and maybe drive 10 20 30 views a

day if I keep doing that over time those videos do really well and it'll help me

grow faster so SEO cleared analogy with baseball all right one more question is

when is the right time to monetize a channel as soon as you're able to so

what I would say is the best way to monetize in the best way to think about

monetizing is to try not to think about it

the best you can if that's what you really want to do you're going to think

about it and that's natural but thinking about it when you can't monetize doesn't

help what helps is to focus on the SEO and the editing all the things we spoke

about so focus on and think about that first and then as soon as you can

monetize monetize there's no reason to hold back Wow definitely not an answer

that I expected but it definitely makes a lot of sense all right Brian if you

have one message for the animaker community who are viewing this video

today what would that be easy stake your claim and amplify your message

you dig amazing message I'd like to leave my audience with that thank you so

much Brian for taking the time to talk to us today

thank you again for having me it was was a lot of fun and you're a great interviewer and I appreciate that

wow that's a great compliment and it really means when it

comes from an experienced youtuber such as yourself thank you so much Brian

What is Self Love | How to Be Happy - Duration: 8:47.

decide that you are deserving of your own love it doesn't matter what happened

in the past because the point of power is in the present moment you have the

power to choose in the now it is my deepest wish for you to live a happier

life and to see yourself in a loving way because you deserve your own love and

you truly are loveable hey guys my name is Kristia and welcome back to my

channel so chances are if you're watching this video you might be curious

about this idea of self-love I know it's everywhere you also might be

going through something difficult and you're here on the internet looking for

who wouldn't self-love or how do I change my life then well today I'm here

to talk about what's up love is and how it changed my life and why you need to

cultivate it in order to live a happier life so the first time I've heard of

this phrase self-love was back in 2012 when I was going through a life crisis I

was going through a heartbreak it's a guy that I had a relationship with was

emotionally abusive to me and it was also the same guy whom I thought I was

gonna be ending up with you know married have kids with but turn out I was wrong

but that actually worked out well because or else I would be married to an

emotionally abusive guy so I'm thankful that we broke up but anyway I digress

yeah in some 12 I was going through a series of things beautiful things

painful things I was going through that breakup and I was also alienated from my

family we were going through a big misunderstanding at the time so I was

alienated and I also lost my grandfather at the same year I lost my job as well

long story short I was going through a bunch of painful experiences in 2012 and

one day I had enough of the pain I was like I don't want to change my

life so I scoured the internet on how I changed my life so I stumbled upon this

book by Louise L hay you might know her she is she was r.i.p

she was a great spiritual teacher and I found her book online called you can

heal your life which is an amazing book Here I am going to share with you what

I've learned how self-love helped me changed my life so I think that the book

and started reading it at first I thought it was you know a very

narcissistic idea to love yourself because you know I grew up in a

conservative family and I was taught to belittle myself you know be humble and

all that and to not have my needs met when I learned about this idea of

self-love it was really weird to me but you know I already lost everything at

that time so what else could I lose if I follow this principle caller this

teaching it was hard at first I started to see myself in a loving way by being

kind to myself it's hard to treat myself in a better way

instead of depriving myself I would let myself and go for something that I want

which was fun and also at the same time was hard because I wasn't used to it to

me self-love is more than just physical

self-care it goes way beyond going to the spa getting massages getting facial

exercising eating right although it's part it's all part of self-love you know

physical self-care is part of self-love but what I think self-love actually is

it's learning to accept and befriend yourself no matter what you have to

accept yourself flaws and all even if you have a certain aspect about yourself

that you don't like the self loving way is to really take that aspect and

embrace it for example I see myself as a shy person and others also see it as

something that something not to like about myself I struggle with denying

that part of myself that you know denying that shai part of myself yeah

and I struggled a lot because you know it's a part of me I can't change it

all I could do was to see it and accept it and see it in a positive loving way

so I told myself yeah okay I may be shy but when I'm quiet I give a sense of

peace to others into myself when I'm quiet I got to be introspective and I

get to reflect in my inner world and see what's in there

when I'm quiet I have two listening ears that actually actually listen to others

when they speak and the funny thing is when I started to see my shyness in a

positive way it sort of exaltedness straight in me of being an empath and I

don't really see myself as a shy person anymore an opposite example might be you

know you might have this trait in yourself that you don't like that you're

too emotional or too loud to see yourself in a loving way you might say

that oh I may be loud I may be emotional but I don't hold things back from others

and I say things just like they are others don't have to guess what I'm

thinking I'm expressive other people won't be

scared that I might have a hidden agenda because I lay it all out i express my

emotions healthily because I'm loud and expressive being self loving actually is

radically accepting yourself being your own best friend being kind to yourself

no matter what being the parent that you never had I think that's what self-love

is when you go through this journey to love yourself is that going to be easy

contrary to what other people might say that when you say an effort nation ten

times and will instantly your lives and

unchanged although affirmations work yes they do work in my opinion I don't think

they work instantly because you've been programmed to sing negative thoughts in

such a long long time I don't think you can change an overnight but with

consistent practice and awareness definitely you can change your life so

find a pre well for yourself and your perceived flaws and then you might get

the inspiration to ask yourself what the next best kindest thing for you to do is

and go and do that letme yourself is the first crucial step to living a happier

life because when you love yourself it will be reflected back to you by others

people who don't respect you will start to treat you with respect because

whatever you think that's gonna be mirrored by your external circumstances

this actually happened to me so the first relationship I had was a

really bad one and then when we broke up that's when I started to be curious

about self-love and learn about it and practice it but with deliberate

consistent practice I attracted a new relationship that mirrored my more self

loving state he was a nicer guy another example was I was let go of a job that I

didn't really like any more so when I started to love myself I actually also

attracted a better job with a higher pay was happening here is when I

deliberately practiced daily self acceptance and befriending myself and

there the way that others treated me and the way life treated me so again if you

want to live a happier life accepting yourself and befriending yourself is a

very important first step decide that you are deserving of your own love it

doesn't matter what happened in the past because the point of power is in the

present moment you have the power to choose in the now that power of choice

is never lost to you and is always available to you at any time

so don't lose hope if you want to change your life and yeah so those are my

thoughts on what self-love is and how they changed my life and how they could

change yours it is my deepest wish for you to live a happier life and you know

to see yourself in a loving way because you deserve your own love and you truly

are lovable so thank you for watching if this helped you in some way maybe

inspire do you click thumbs up and subscribe to my channel for more of this

videos I'll see you take care bye

Dynamic Checkerboard Rendering using Microsoft DirectX 12 | IDZ Weekly | Intel Software - Duration: 1:39.

We know you all love a good code sample,

and this week, we bring you something

that will make your game's graphics oh so beautiful.

I'm Stephanie Essin.

In this episode, we bring you Dynamic Checkerboard Rendering

using Microsoft DirectX 12.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Checkerboard Rendering, or CBR, is a technique

that produces full-resolution pixels

with a significant reduction in shading and minimal impact

on visual quality.

Dynamic Resolution Rendering, or DRR,

is an established technique that dynamically adjusts

the resolution to which you render a 3D scene

and then scales this to the output back buffer.

This article points you to a code sample

that demonstrates both CBR and DRR

and provides a base implementation

in a forward rendering pipeline.

Also provided is a pretty sweet white paper

describing an implementation and a deferred rendering pipeline.

The sample is designed to build and run,

and this is an augmentation of the DirectX 12 mini

engine from the Microsoft DirectX graphic samples.

Simply download the repository, build the solution, and run.

Both CBR and DRR are enabled by default,

and they, along with multiple other post processes,

can be enabled or disabled.

This article is also super useful,

because it outlines the CBR and DRR options that

will be in the toggle menu.

Make sure to see the links to download everything

you need, and I'll see you next Monday.

227: Create The Space & Get Your Dream Life - Duration: 55:05.

all right Denise we are live good day and good evening ladies and gentlemen

welcome back to another LIVETHEFUEL show. So I am bringing on a new guest goes because

we do this all the time I'm just never gonna run out of meeting people if this

is just so much fun that's why I love podcasting but listen

let's dig into it okay she has helped over a million people that's right

million people find their purpose and fulfill on their god-given destiny I

love that statement she started her career by working with families at a

local mental health agency as a clinical psychologist and for those who use you

subscribe to this show you know how much I love psychology and she has continued

on to use her talents with it works global to build a large team of

motivated positive and enthusiastic business owners so she's an author she's

about to become another like brown - author round three all throughout him

know we're gonna catch up on that today - but she's also well-connected with a

powerful influencer Jack Canfield we're gonna have fun with that as well because

I've met him before but without further ado let's bring her on the show welcome

Denise Walsh so I'm loving this because yes I had the name drop the man Jack

Canfield I got to see him you ever hear of thrive make money matter I have yeah

yeah so I've gone to that every year last couple years and and he was there

for that and the guy just never ceases to amaze I just he's been doing it a

long time he's a staple in the industry that's for sure well and how long is so

part of your background is obviously you became one of his certified trainers

correctly hmm so how long have you been a certified trainer with the Canfield

camp for a few years now I been an entrepreneur for twelve and we

kind of hit the top of our company and I said what's next and Jack Canfield

entered my email haha okay and it was Maxwell cause like you're also holding a

job that's what - yeah yeah and we did that this past January talk about

surrounding yourself with powerful influencers well that's the name of the

game right you have to keep leveling up so I hear I mean it's a thing it is

everyone says it you talk about it they host events you

know like life thrive mm-hmm people have webinars they have podcasts

all all of this wonderful stuff that we you and I are doing today it's like hey

who else could influence who else can we gain influence from mm-hmm and they said

we all know they say you're like the five people you hang around and so why

not have it be Jack Canfield and John Maxwell I'd be alright with that yeah I

purposely paid a go to events that those guys speak at so clearly that's a win

I've read almost all of their books I feel like and so when you get to meet

him in person you feel like you already know them you're kind of already in

their head so it was really kind of cool to experience them live and actually get

to have conversations and realize like they're they're just people right who

have a vision and work hard just like we do they put on their pants one leg at a

time it was a saint it's just like everybody else

robot helps with that I don't know yeah could you go ahead and just help me with

that whole pants process that'd be great seriously if you can't put your own

pants on unless you have a health-related issue then there's

something wrong so but was it their influence that got you into I'm diving

right in here I'm fueling the fire so you did the book thing I'm excited by

this because literally that's show I just got done recording with another

guest goes she's also an author and I'm currently be well according to her I am

an author cuz I've been published in a magazine four times now so she's like

Scott you actually all regard author you just haven't wrote your book yet but as

I'm talking to you right now I've already completed the first twenty five

thousand words so I might be done I don't know yes so that's a pain in the

butt by the way what are you what are your thoughts on that

yeah oh my goodness so I really I've been doing this type of work for over a

decade and I was like how do I reach more people with less of my time right

because now I'm a mom I've got a seven year old a four year old I want to go on

field trips I want to like do life but I still want to make an impact and so

that's where I all right podcast so I have a podcast as

well and then and then the journal and the workbook and the journals coming

that's why I kind of hinted that yeah and you already have out how to retire

your husband yeah okay and when did that come out again that was that was a few

years ago thousand thirteen yeah that was our journey through entrepreneurship

kind of going from an employee mindset to entrepreneur Minds it and that there

is we talked a lot about mindset on this show to again that's why I was excited

to bring you all and once I found out about you I was like ooh psychology

because we talk a lot about how it ways to fuel your health your business your

lifestyle and across all three of those domains your mindset is a part of all of

that I mean I have a regular sports psychologist I Briana every month

shout-out to dr. Megan cannon because she's got the sports mindset and I love

tying that to business as well I mean is that so you having to psych background

though mm-hmm was that a key kind of like oh man

that's gonna be massive to me the document because of you switching from

the employee to the entrepreneurial mindset to yourself had to go through

the mental shift I did I did have to go through that I mean my first job as a

clinical psychologist was at a local community mental health where I was

underpaid overworked burnt out working for the government it was not living the

dream yeah nice like have that identity shift of going from a unemployed tell me

what to do and I'll do it to being an entrepreneur having a vision and working

towards it and you know being flexible along the way but being a finisher

throughout and I didn't know if I could do that when I first started our

business and so as I grew into that role yeah and then I got to teach other

people how to do it too and that's where the funny piece yeah because I was like

it's scary but it's like when you realize you if I pull that trigger it's

it's not you know you can't keep acquiring knowledge and acquiring

knowledge and acquiring knowledge and never sharing it don't shout it from the

rooftops and that's the fun of teaching is that I

truly believe that everybody can teach something because we all know if I if I

walked into a room right now I already know 60% more about at least one thing

than 60% of people in the room so talk about it mm-hmm share it right now when

you guys clicked I got it I got asked this because I love domain names naming

so clearly your brand is your name Denise Wolf's comm yep and actually

let's go ahead and pop up a little screen sharing because you have your

dream life action planner as soon as you come to your site so when did you buy

the name when did you get a clue about owning your name online well we've had

several personas throughout our journey and we realized your name doesn't change

so we really need it like we wanted to we had tag lines and all of that has

kind of changed evolved as our business grew as we changed as times changed and

so our name doesn't change so we really wanted to just bring the name right okay

well that's why I love that because I tell people of time and from a branding

perspective is listen if you've got a great brand concept and your name isn't

really well-known then you've got a choice you got a fork in the road you

can you can grow the brand that is whatever you've created like me I have

live the fuel so you grow the brand and your name goes along with it or you know

what you're just gonna dig in deep on the name recognition maybe you got some

public exposure and you could just keep growing the name my one big client he's

it's all about his name that's why it's always been but it's interesting how

people choose these paths but it's interesting to your point great we grew

these different tag lines or grooves different brands and now it's like well

who's always been there at the core of it it's your name mm-hmm so as I start

increasing my public speaking I'm eventually Scott Moline com just goes to

Louisville calm because I haven't felt the need to split it you know into its

own brand site yet yeah that's fine yeah we had original rap girl

what original rap girl WR WR a ps4 a rap company ok ok I just like wait a whit oh

it's just rapping in here what's going on throughout the years we've been in

the business for 12 years and a lot of things have changed but but that's why

when I started creating more products we were like I need to stick with my name

because the product can branch out true that's true and yes and as you've as you

very hinted you got a journal coming out soon does that say that counts is

another book right absolutely Jolley Dumas he releases rattles right

yeah hey I got a boat on the bookshelf back there so I don't use him though but

his journals or not not yet not yet yeah in the podcast although you're

definitely familiar with Jolly Dumas so yeah yeah yeah yeah but he crushed it

with his crowdfunding when he launched I've never seen anybody launch a book so

successfully on Kickstarter third most successful book launch ever done on a

Kickstarter interesting I'll have to research that yeah think about it yeah

see it's the one is the mastery journal yeah so his first one was the freedom

journal okay that one crushed it and then he released the mastery journal so

once you've documented your freedom goals and you Jerald your way to what

you're talking about yeah then you master the process and you

start building and growing a successful business beyond that so he decided to

launch them as journals so well and that's the thing I feel like so many of

us know what to do but we don't create the space to actually do it which is why

I I mean that's a psychologist in me I'm

not just gonna be like do this later because nobody does I'm gonna do this

now write it now I've got a live event in January it's all workshop stuff I'm

like I want to see transformation today okay we're gonna make you cry today

we're gonna make you feel or make your work we're gonna make you go through it

now because that's why we're here is for change and and so that's part of why

it's a journal is so we can create the space for you to do the work like now

now so with the action planner your dream life action plan of the website

that's your free giveaway no marketing get people on your email list but would

you say that's confidence tone yeah it's released I was kind of like one of your

necessary building blocks well my husband's that our digital marketer in

the family what's the most important thing and so the most important thing

like the most the question I get the most as a trainer coach leader is what

do I do tell me what to do and I'll do it what

do I do I don't know how that's when I don't know that that's the correct

answer or at the correct question to ask but we'll get to that later so I created

the dream live action planner to help answer the most questions the biggest

question I get which is what do I do I don't have time I want change but I

don't know how to do it so the action planner is basically your time

management tool where you take everything you give it a spot it's the

80/20 rule it's outsourcing it's all of like Who am I gonna ask for help it

can't be do everything ourselves so it's really every any time I have a new goal

this is this process I go through to give it a schedule I get time on my

schedule so I actually make progress and that's the skill that I'm teaching with

the action planner well so I got a dig into the psyche so the biggest thing

that I coach people on too and I've got a lot of athletic background I've been a

USSA ski race coach well over the years and then I'm also a CrossFit coach in my

free time I don't really hold our normal schedule because I just draw on time but

like I class yesterday for my buddy because it was his birthday weekend I

love coaching I was a business coach in the corporate world but the biggest

thing I've learned what an action taking is if you've not sat down and taken the

time to at least answer the why mm-hmm right like okay maybe I don't know the

exact business name yet product name yet anything else but why do you want to

possibly go down this road if you've got if you if you have put together the the

why that's so powerful that it just makes your stomach hurt I don't know

that's just me when I think about as I go that's good now it's easy to then go

download an action planner and then start taking the necessary steps maybe

your planner helps people do what do you think about this whole wide concept mmm

so personal video like I feel like I'm a clarity queen like that's part that's my

thing Clary oe Iona help people create their

own personal vision because when you see yourself three steps ahead of where you

are like the how figures itself up you make time because you know what you want

and you know why you it's like not just an idea it's like in your gut and in

your soul so the clarity of what do I want why do I want it what do I want my

life to look like all of those questions who what why exactly it just makes it

fuels you right just like you really are willing to climb the mountain to make it

happen to you know because you you it's not a matter of if it's a matter of when

and like you mentioned writing a book is not easy but when you're fueled you

become a finisher like there's no other option but it's

funny because I'm such a health and fitness no that's why health is part of

our target of this audience is because I tell people time like if your health is

in the crapper how do you expect to write the book start a company like your

healthy lifestyles a huge component of this but for me I've been talking about

possibly writing a book for two years from my backstory of when I went from

the corporate life to being you know a federal wildland firefighter out west

and then back again and so it's like just sharing some of those the mental

game and the shifts and the things I learned I wanted to document that mm-hmm

but it didn't really click until actually I started doing these thrive

make money matter events every year and then I hard-coded last year a for

purpose concept into my business so now there's a percentage of all income goes

into a special account so start putting in the steps right defining the why more

and then I realized wait a minute if I put if I write the book well then I

truly have to put my story out there but what's gonna get me to write the book

well then I said wait what if I make the book off for purpose book so I decide

that 50% of all the proceeds are gonna go to fall on firefighter organizations

haven't figured that part out yet I will but okay once that happened then it's

like okay everything starts flowing like the fuel on the fire

yeah and then for me it's like committing to an event like you said

you're gonna be speaking at an event in January yep I tell you all time you can

beat the power of immersion and an event like John Maxwell vents or it doesn't

matter it's just go to an event so same thing where it's like well okay well I

went to I decided to not sucess I go to a physical event but I immerse myself

into a mastermind program for self publishing mm-hmm so I had to pony up

you know three four grand to buy into this but now okay I've spent the money

there I removed one more roadblock it's like Scott you just dropped a boatload

of coin you're in a 90 day aggressive game plan in this program so let's put

up or shut up so I'm just giving you some of the

examples of a fuel that I've done in the past few months because now in the past

literally two months I've already completed 25,000 words

so okay like put it on the calendar and then figure it out yeah well and then I

kept using the excuses I don't have time to write your and your way your website

but I don't have the time right so then it's like okay hack you appreciate this

I'm a podcaster my fiancee says I talk too much

so it's a great I I have the gift of gab so I said well why do I have to write

the book why can't I speak the book so then i feii Lissie III lab I'm a viral

listener a podcast I'm not just a podcaster I'm listening to a podcast

called Musco someone brings up the otter like the animal ot te RA I app they give

you 600 free minutes of recording time per month and the app will transcribe

your your recordings into text oh yeah Barry you're gone hello so that's how

I've written 25 thousand words is I mean I'll be driving for a business trip yeah

like tomorrow I'm gonna head up to Albany in New York for some business

meetings I got like a three-hour drive yeah

Bluetooth through the iPhone running the app in the background I'm just driving

down the road talking away yeah that's awesome I mean that's the thing is that

so many times we give ourselves these barriers that aren't even really that

true and there's always a way to figure it out yeah we got a pause on that yeah

there's always a way to figure it out there is that's a mindset piece though

that not everybody hearing this has that yet

you got to dig into that you got to dig into that well--there's yeah well what

about what I've learned right is that there's a myriad of options and I think

so many times we believe that we're fixed or stuck or like we we stay in

this small view when really there's probably 10 or 15 ways to get to the

same destination but we don't even see it it's like seeing the tree versus the

whole forest right we're so close-minded that we don't even take a step back to

see that there's lots of other options true

I learned this time management thing when I was writing design your dream

life workbook and I was like I'm gonna do it in my spare time

did you hint you have two kids as well sounds like you are a your classic

Disney busy mom right so I had to put it in my calendar I had to rearrange my

priorities I had to put it in so it had a slot and and then I would do it

because I knew once I had a plan I would execute that's but creating the plan is

well a lot of times we don't do because we don't take a step back to really

prioritize or think about what we want I tell people all the time I mean and

you'll see a lot of influencers like yourself sometimes you got to have

something literally walk you through the math but it's like guys there's 24 hours

in a day mm-hmm if you're a healthy person you're trying to bang out let's

say let's say you're getting the 48 hours boom okay do the math 24 minus 8

all right we're at 16 let's say you work at a classic nine-to-five shift let's

add in some commute time long breaks let's let's subtract nine heck let's go

and take 10 hours out of that okay now you got six hours left in the day mm-hmm

okay in your case because I don't know I don't have kids I don't plan on out of

them my fiance and I were like now we're good so more power to you guys and

powerful parenting but how long does it take you to prep meals in the morning in

the evening I don't know can you give me a ballpark from 7:00 to 8:00 we're

getting ready in the morning okay and is it another hour for dinner and evening

I'm guessing too right yep so let's take another two hours off there so now we're

down to four okay but also while you're doing that maybe

you could have a headset in listening to a podcast or an audiobook like here's

the here's the that's one well I wanted us to get into that because it's like

driving to school I'm constantly have my bluetooth in I'm driving around town I'm

in between appointments I mean I listened to several podcasts a day

myself because I know that it's kind of my job to stay growing so I have

something to teach people yeah I literally I have I mean how many

favorite podcasts do you listen to you have a podcast I do yeah yeah I'm I have

like 4 that I listen to consistently there you go so I'm actually I'm going

into my stitcher app right now I have 12 marked here I don't I'd say that I

actually consistently weekly listened to probably four my top performers and then

when I'm just a little bored I want to mix some other stuff in I cycle in

different ones so but there's there's two of those shows that I make sure I

listen to every single episode I don't miss so yeah it's interesting

everybody's got different things but that's the point is like how many

thousands of hours you could be gaining yeah work out so I'm constantly

listening during my workouts as well it's like I work out yes to work out but

also because I know that is gonna give me personal development time and I mean

that's a part of a part of my day and I come back filled not just sweaty well I

think that's part of your whole action planner right is that before you can

necessarily take the massive action you've got to start taking the smaller

actions and I'm a huge huge supporter of personal professional development and

yeah I even dabbled in the network marketing world I still have a side

hustle in that I don't do a ton with it because I've been doing it for eight

years and it's doing its thing the point is though I made the same mistake I'm

like I don't have time to grow that but actually I can now say I tell you ball

time I will thank the network marketing world and that company because it was

like a person of the personal and professional development platform mm-hmm

that also had a business tied to it going in and seeing motivational

inspirational speakers giving you ways to start making the time in your

life and the coaching it was like oh I can build a business so I can bank

having a side hustle in a network marketing world

- then fueling my fired if I build my entrepreneurial businesses that I'm

still doing now it's like oh okay but I had to start somewhere mm-hmm how

to make the time mm-hmm what I love about the network marketing

world too is that it could really just be 15 minutes or an hour but yeah it

doesn't have to be twelve hours a day it really is just intentional time because

they say a 1% shift will take you in a completely new direction sure a half an

hour a day 15 minutes a day an hour day whatever you got when you're doing

something intentional with that you will be somewhere different in a year well

and if there are people like myself I even I know this game and I've been

doing it for a while and I know the mindset stuff and I put into work and

I've worked I work with coaches and but it's it there's still people like me to

myself that we get impatient when you're a high performer I'm not trying to Pat

myself on the back I'm actually gonna bring up with complaints is that you get

impatient with yourself once in a while if you want everything now but thanks to

putting in the reps you realize okay it's okay be patient with the process

yeah follow a game plan yeah yeah virtues joy and the journey has been a

skill I get I get to learn a journey as well true yeah I mean it's like I'm grad

I love where I am and I'm grateful but I know where I'm going

so harmonising gratitude and vision has been a skill to learn because I don't

want to wish now away because I'm so excited and I want to get there

yesterday so I'm trying to like love like enjoy but still like be purposeful

because I like the fact you brought the key word gratitude and purposeful

because I think up until last year probably for good three years

up until last year I was I made myself commit to this daily gratitude app it

was like a mini journal app and the whole point was it got a little tedious

from time at times but again it was like I didn't I didn't

realize what I was doing for my daily mindset it was just taking a few seconds

to pause and appreciate what you have and then being able to go back in that

app and looking six months before what I was at what I was grateful for then and

how much has been happened what has shifted in six months let alone twelve

months let alone two years right and that's a part of the dream life daily

journal the first part of each day is a gratitude game it's not just necessarily

a list or something different each day like one day we pretend like it's

vacation day all day and you're just pretending like it's exactly what you

want to do all day long one day we pretend like it's your lucky

day another day we talk about you know

relationships that you're grateful for and so it's pretty fun but it does a lot

for your mindset it does a lot for your energy levels it you know it sparks your

reticular activating system to start seeing what is all you're gonna pause on

that got some fancy words Gantt breeze over that okay help our listeners what

are we digging on there all right so the reticular activating system is a part of

your brain that's basically like your filter okay we we hear and we consume

like seventy thousand things throughout the day well and our brain can't handle

all of that so there's a filter that decides what's most important to you so

think about you are you know you're going to look for a car and all of a

sudden you start seeing that car everywhere yeah that's true it was

probably are you there the whole time but your brain didn't think it was

important and still until you went driving it and now you're looking at

buying that car now your brain thinks it's important I know the friends buy

cars uu-aah I notice that when I see friends

get on car interesting if they change a car because especially it's a close

friend now I noticed that vehicle more yeah it's just a part of your world and

it's and it was already there but you didn't deem it important so your brain

didn't even notice it and so we want to train our brain to notice what's working

to notice though like what's what's going well for you and so when we start

our day with a gratitude game you kind just like you tell your mind this is

what I want you to see this filter that's important to me and then in

what's amazing is that's what then you get so what do you think about the power

of manifestation right because some people think it's woo woo yeah I'm like

well it's on how you look at it now because you have a psych background

there's some science to this let's bring some of that science in because I think

that's the first thing apart to my home there's you know our talk right now I'm

like I used to think it was the movie the secret the book for secret I was

like what is this hokey crap I mean what is what am i what am i watching what am

i listening to yeah my mindset was different then to where I am today so

things are seen and looked at differently and I do understand

manifestation in a more scientific way so I'm intrigued to see how you would

respond to that yeah it's so interesting because I was trained in cognitive

behavioral thinking therapy right so CBT you which is cognitive behavioral

therapy which is all about thinking you're thinking impacts your behavior

which impacts your outer world and you're a hat you know and a lot of that

is habitual you have the neuro like your brain pathways that are different

pathways they're just habits and so a lot of times our thinking is a bit you

all too and so I was trained in man and I taught people think positive it's good

for you and it will help you and you'll be nicer and it's that easy but then I

really dug deep into the science and because it really does change the way

your brain is wired you know it's like you if you think negative depressing

thoughts then your brain physically changes like they can do a brain scan of

your brain it doesn't light up as much it looks dead like a cactus and then you

could take a brain scan of somebody who's thinking positively and has you

know as and it's different things are why are different pathways are triggered

and different hormones turn on and off and all of these things are impacted by

the way we choose to think and we all have a

choice faith or fear dead or alive love or hate you know we've got that choice

consistently throughout the day and it actually impacts the physical your

physical brain okay and then because of that because of the reticular activating

system because of the fact that like attracts like in this world and you're

kind of attracted to what you're thinking about you become what you think

about takes on a whole nother level when you realize the quantum physics

epigenetics the neuroscience that are connected to our thought process and we

obviously we're hinting if you ever watched the secret or read the secret

the big tagline there is the law of attraction which is directly tied to

manifestation and they all go at they all work hand in hand but I I'm glad you

dug into that because again it might seem rule at first but think about it if

it is woowoo but it brings about a more positive result in your life why not at

least be open to it right it works every time yeah I mean even the Bible talks

about the power of the tongue and taking your thoughts captive and there's a lot

of things that I'm like oh I learned about this in church the whole time I

just never realized it was the same thing it's interesting here ya know I'm

not a heavy Church guy I don't actually don't go at all so but I'm also a modern

person and I usually tell people because I here's best part I finished my degree

at a Catholic University by the way so it was everywhere yeah it's everywhere

but the one thing I did appreciate about the one priest guy whatever you call

those guys the white collar's yeah I'm very religious born it was appreciated

cuz he actually was one of the psychology professors and he was very

modern and he said listen he's like I truly believe when it comes to your mind

and your mindset is that you don't have to go to church a physical building to

be and I don't talk about religion on this show at all by the way so we're

just having fun with this but he's like you don't need to go to a physical

church to feel like you have faith in something like some people they need

that he said but he's like if you study the history of the physical structure of

a church he's like it was built as a safe haven

for people to go and practice he's like well in the modern world least here in

the USA other countries maybe not so much but you pretty much have a pretty

good flexibility to do what you see fit didn't practice as you see and believe

in what you want so he said you don't need to physically go to a building you

think if you want to do something else in your sunday then do that he's like so

it was interesting hearing him say that and I'm just tying that back to what

we're talking about as far as the faith mindset and things of that nature having

faith in yourself and your abilities to and and you know I think at the end of

the day we all long for some sort of connection no matter what that is and I

know I have a prayer closet in my bedroom downstairs and it's just great

just a matter of creating space to to listen to yourself to allow things to

bubble up to journal to get it things out grieve you know whatever we need to

do so then we can really be our best selves and sometimes that means healing

and letting go sometimes it means dreaming bigger and stepping into

ourselves and being bold and see I love we just said there you gotta write it

down you you created space in your life like even if you physically made a space

they'll have a prayer closet whatever you call it but it's like okay well you

created a physical space for this a safe place for you in your own home but the

same thing is applied to your brain and your mind set like your brain wants to

establish new neural pathways it wants to establish new connectivity but it

needs new experiences that to happen and that's why I'm loving we're geeking on

this because people are afraid to make mistakes people are afraid to take the

risks because maybe throughout their life maybe they didn't always have the

best go at things so they've they've now drawn the negativity mindset right we so

they have to start reprogramming positive steps positive reactions

positive changes so they can start embracing change better and more

effectively I tell people all the time the only reason why I make so many

things happen now is because I had to start slowly before now the momentum I

have today is only because I started taking those steps

making the space in my schedule making a space in my life for the personal

development a professional development I wasn't always traveling to events and

conferences I make the time yes I'm intrigued if you see how you want to

connect that over to everything that you stand for so well you you cannot be what

you cannot see and so if you're in a bubble and you're only hanging around

like we mentioned earlier those five people one exercise real quick that I

have people do is I take all seven areas of life and I have the rated on a scale

of one to ten ten being like awesome right one being like not so much no I

already know I'm gonna answer this but what are some of those seven see right

and I studied psychology we call them the sub we call them depending on who we

were talking to is either six or was seven domains of life so I'm intrigued

to see how you're gonna lay beliefs out cuz I'm in front of the board all right

so I've got friendship family finances all together all separate all separate

so those are three friendship family finances health hobbies business and

giving back and so when I look getting back in there thank you yes

yes we I mean we were all want to make a difference I mean honestly I feel like

that's fills most of us up consistently is when we feel like we're adding value

but I ask people to rate their lives or rate their seven areas on a scale of one

to ten and what I have found doing this all over the world is that most people

would rate themselves an average of a four and what happens when there are

four is that most of the time their friends are for their families of four

they think a ten is like so far away I don't even want to try and they get

comfortable at a four so then even dreaming bigger seems so weird and so

you can see how it just easy to stay there because the four becomes normal a

four becomes comfortable it's I mean think about lunch I mean I remember when

I was working lunch was also known as complaint like that was what you did

like who could complain them whole street and you're just like in this

world and and so when we talk about getting out of that world we've got

somewhere different and that's where events come in immersion where you can

really say all right who who are the what do I want to be like and where do

those people hang out and then how can I go there because that's how I'm going to

see that a tennis possible that is how I'm gonna see that there are people

living at 10 this is you know where I'm gonna see that this because you can't be

what you cannot see if you don't ever see that that's why I think most of us

want to be like teachers and fireman's when we grow up because that's the only

thing and we got to get outside her and it's funny because I was like I became a

firefighter but I don't remember if I actually wanted to become a firefighter

it came it came years later but that's interesting half my friends were became

teachers and I'm like I think it's because that's the only job you know

about well that and I know from a pure perspective teachers I think teachers

are one of the most important professions on the planet one of them I

think they're too structured they're smart k ik stuff they're still teaching

but the processes can be improved upon but I have many many friends I went to

Penn State as well and I have many friends that were teachers presence' it

turns out a lot of teachers and most of them wasn't wanted to be able to

necessarily give back but pass on knowledge they just like sharing

knowledge well and when you're impacted by a teacher just like I was impacted at

camp camp for me it was a place there I really grew and connected and we're

outside my comfort zone I became a camp counselor for four summers because I

knew the power of camp and I think that's one reason why I love

experiential like Expos and events and getting outside and like taking people

on a journey because I know that that impacted me so much so yeah how are you

how are you counselor then during the summer so two summers I was in Asheville

North Carolina and I did a home repair so I was like doing drywall and roofing

and painting houses and then the two summers after that I worked in New York

City with New York City foster kids and we would bust the kids from the city out

to hours and they'd like swim for first time and see bugs and there you go

it was really entertaining I grew up on a farm so it was yeah and then I got

into the business world I was in cities all the time and people just don't get

it like I bring up on the show now I'm like yeah I'm nope goats as a kid and

drank raw goat's milk and be like what when I was managing and coaching people

that in the corporate space we would do team-building days and we were not in

New York City by the way this was this was Allentown Pennsylvania hour north of

Philadelphia hour and a half west of New York City and like my employees I mean I

probably had like pub a half my team was of a Latin descent or Puerto Rican

descent some from the urban city of Allentown and yeah I would I would

always ask everybody to share something unique about themselves and then I would

always wait and I dropped that bomb like farm kid turn you know guy to suit no

way I'm like yeah why is that so hard to believe it's place it's funny how the

cultural shifts are different everybody so it's interesting you had to

experience that that's pretty cool yeah we were like these are called stars and

it was just really fun to experience it with them for the first oh my god a New

York City kid yes took him to the first time I went West

was 2007 I got to hike the Havasupai tribal lands they're like they're their

own section of canyons attached to the Grand Canyon's where they're trot their

their main tribe is so you got a hike down in through like basically a small

version of the Grand Canyon and then I camped there were there for a week and

where the campsite was was in the bottom of the canyon so when that's when the

Sun set that sky lit up and it was like dance the brightest stars I've ever seen

yeah yeah I mean even my five year old I think he saw a star for the first time

when he was four cuz he like goes to bed at 7:00 I mean it is it but it's true

when you don't live in that environment you don't even know what's possible so

there is an element of getting outside and at least seeing what's possible

before you decide where like before you stay a for right

Oh see what attends like well I love the scaling you did here because it's funny

I brought yours on the board and I was like okay I remember all six I can't

really how we branded them but I mean these are the six a wee wee folk you

focused on friendship family finances health hobbies business and giving back

uh-huh mine were also friendships last relationships because it is true you can

back this up that human beings are meant to interact with the human beings like

if you lock yourself away with a video game all the time you are not gonna be a

mentally healthy person it's just really bad you're packed

family loved ones like having love in your life

this girl could be tied into your love relationships but it's really a family

is love it should be and then your significant other meaning fiance future

wife health and etc finance and money is a domain health and fitness was the

domain spirituality cuz it was a catholic university spirituality or in

their case they called it faith like having faith in something mm-hmm helps

you have faith in yourself too then the growth the mindset the education piece

like if you're not growing your mental game through education or continuing

education or reading books or stuff like that you gotta exercise the brain so I

had six well we did the same thing he listened

draw zero access and whether it's one through ten one through five just ranked

them mhm and then the way the way the teacher explained it was the professor

he said listen he said you can really judge your current state of stress based

on this graph mm-hmm he said most people they're kind of run in the middle but

almost every single person is not gonna be able to have all six or all seven

perfectly balanced across that zero access he's like it's a part of life

you're gonna have times where when you're back in school like I was an

adult student I was back in school on nights and weekends he's a so your

education is a high focus right now with your career because I was working my way

through college but he's like for example when's the last time you hung

out your family may delete my family was below the zero access I had no romantic

interest in my life at all I was focused on my school my career so but he said

he's like here's a stress point he's like if you allow

of these domains to drop below the zero access you're gonna be a stressed out

person you gotta at least try and maintain some of these so it was

interesting how he taught that so I thought I thought I'd share that with

you on that yeah I really liked that and I think I

think a lot of times people will tell me that they're striving for balance and

what we've learned right is that balance isn't really it's a flow like you're

gonna float talk about flow States right you're gonna flow in and out sometimes

this is important sometimes this is important and that's okay yeah and I

think part of his explanation that was allow it's okay to have some of them

Trump he said but the other thing is if you allow more than half of these

dropped below is like what are you doing with your life I mean that's a big wake

up call and he said that's where a lot of people don't realize in it and then

it gets to that point and it's super super dangerous we talk about the

obviously psychological health the mental health we were talking a lot

about depression and the the influence of the pharmaceutical industry and all

this stuff it's crazy so what I find is I I really do believe that we all can

live like if we were to rate them one to ten I think we all can live a 10 like we

all can really be living and thriving at a ten in all areas at the same time but

that doesn't mean you have a goal in all areas at the same time you know usually

you put your effort your focus into one you create momentum you grow that and

and that is you know important and then it goes to another thing and you're

maybe it's your health for a season and then you're got good health success

habits here and then you go focus somewhere else and so you're kind of in

my coaching I tell people all the time get your health and fitness dialed in

that's gotta be your top priority I said this if you're to pick that one domain

that always stayed high it's everything it's leads into everything doesn't it it

does I mean how do you how are you supposed to have the energy yeah to

write a book write a journal to go speak on stage to be a mother brainstorming

happens when you're get those endorphins going

yeah I've run a few marathons and I did a bodybuilding competition a few years

ago which really helped me learn nutrition I was gonna ask you about that

because I get to have it you you you have

athletic build and I was like there's something background there's a

background there because I know a lot the network marketing world we had a lot

of athletes and I was like oh yeah III for example I cannot stand no offense

ladies and gentlemen I don't like the the anorexic looking runway models I

don't understand what that is like you'd have some muscle on you like it's okay

to be fit like yeah wrong be a strong woman yeah and the bodybuilding

competition I mean I've always worked out and I've been interested in that but

I feel like that really taught me how to eat because before I was eating out and

so that taught me like how to cook nutritious food and eat whole foods and

in moderation and still have my treat every once in a while guess what the

habits are so strong now that it's not hard and I'm still drinking like a

gallon of water a day and I'm still eating you know my tons of vegetables

and I've just created habits so now it's you have the knowledge now cuz you put

in the reps enough times I don't I know if I drained off because I get tired if

you don't understand like a lot of fatigue is usually there's so much tied

to something as simple as your hydration people like it's she's dropping bombs

for you like take take notes your hydration is so important I can tell if

I've been traveling a lot and I haven't hydrated properly my fatigue sets in I

don't need another coffee I do love coffee but it is a diuretic it

is gonna dehydrate you so yes try and get some clear water in there besides

your black water but I love the fact you're hitting on this because this

everything is tied together everything is tied so now do you actually here's a

question are you tying some of that into your general project yeah okay so the

journal there's a couple there's two different sections of each day so each

day actually is eight pages that's because you want to have time just in

space to write so we've got the gratitude game then we ever pray a space

for prayer meditation journaling just like beard mindset work honestly we

could do the work but if we're not being like if we're not at peace if we don't

really believe that we can do it if we're grouchy and ornery then like we

could do the things and it's not gonna get the results we're looking for so we

want to be we want to like be whole and well around

and then we talk about your dream life goal and that's basically when you pick

one of your seven areas and you pick the one that you want to focus on for the

next 30 days and you have a consistent dream life goal for the next 30 days

someone asked me one time do you have a new goal every day and I was like no no

no you want to be consistent because that's driving crazy

yeah consistent and so then you have your dream life goal you have

affirmations visualizations connected to that goal because it goes from our head

to our heart we're not just gonna say it but we need to believe it and then we go

into our action item so the dream life action items what can I do for this

school today but then I added dream relationship action and dream health

action because we are well-rounded if action is like an equation like it's a

good thing what am I gonna do today to pour into my relationships what am I

gonna do today to impact my health it could be as simple as text my spouse I

love you or schedule a date night with your child or just like send love to

relationships and just make remind yourself right that that's an important

piece of the equation but I included health and relationships in there

because I think that we really can be a well-rounded you like person and and

when we have healthy relationships and a healthy body we're gonna be more we're

gonna get to our goal just that much faster

because if you think about drama in someone's life someone who's living in

drama someone who's living in chaos someone who's living in confusion it's

typically surrounded like about a relationship their family chaos anger

lying all of these things in unforgiveness or health issues they

don't feel good they've got sickness disease or taking all these pills are

tired like so we really can like when we focus on relationships and health and

thrive in those areas I think that will catapult us to improving on our dream

life goal that much faster about that yeah you're hitting on like all we go

with 10 cylinders I know like totally need to hang out

it's slow-going here I'm loving it it's good but again I think that actually

because we are approaching towards the end of the show you're on time slot but

I think it's important that really hit on this point that you just made here

which is the relationships piece is key you don't have to disown your friends

your family but they're not always going to be the most supportive depending on

your endeavors so getting out there and at least

opening yourself up to connect with people outside of your normal inner

circle allow yourself to grow and it's okay if some people that are in York

that have been your inner circle for years don't get it yeah it's not your

job to make them love everything that you do you're gonna do things that they

don't get right so opening yourself to new relationships is gonna be key

because that's the only thing to help me grow - yeah and I love the fact you're

hitting on that yeah and we do I think especially when you mean I don't know if

we're living in a for right and we'd feel bad about leaving our friends who

are still at a four still complaining or still XY and Z when really we can't fix

them we can't change they've got to decide it themselves just like you

mentioned your why is your own like lighting your own fire so live your best

life and you'll inspire them to do the same but honestly it's up to them it is

is we well it's funny it's an old mission statement from a companies to

work for but I love it I still use it to this day is we are all personally and

collectively accountable for our results so in the end you still have to be

personally accountable for whatever you expect in your life you can't blame

anybody else for your results just step up and own it I think that's one of the

biggest things you could help in personal professional growth is as soon

as you accept the fact that listen whatever happened yes those other people

in the equation but in the end you are also in the equation so if you want to

change that result then and you can expect them to change you got to do it

so I can't say when people are always passing the buck but also I mean they're

collectively pieces if you're actually working at a team or you're creating a

mastermind group so there is that social responsibility that again may be your

inner circle of friends or your inner circle of family aren't willing to help

you be accountable on that goal and that's why you reach

to influencers like yourself or you start following different podcast shows

or you find a new favorite author because they're now putting the right

information in your ears and in your head and helping establish and connect

these new neural pathways to get you a new more positive mindset to start

bringing about more positive action to then bring about the book or the movie

or whatever your goals you want to create right am i hitting on stuff right

here absolutely I have I have mentors that I've never met before but it's

because I'm consuming everything that they put out because I want to keep up

leveling yeah and and again I can still hang out with family and friends and be

relational with them doesn't mean that they're influencing my fiancees never

listen to my podcast show it's okay she loves Joe Rogan Joe Rogan apparently

me everybody loves Joe right you know I I'm aspiring to reach Joe Rogan's

popularity so it's good to have goals it's good at one time I sent my husband

I was like you should really listen to this and it was me and my stuff I don't

know that he's like fully listened to to know my oh my he's not binge listening

to me but he hears me all the time so you know well and that's that's that's

her point of view - she just like when I talk about her on the show and I was

like well it's cuz I love you and you're a part of my life so I was like if you

were talking to me five years ago I didn't speak like this I never was

talking about love I wasn't talk about vulnerability none of that was happening

so there's been a lot of growth in life and I think that's part of again back to

that psychology in the game it's so cool to reflect back on where you were where

you are today and that's why I love like when I went

to your site I saw action and I saw a planner I'm

like yeah now we're talking because that's what people need to do in life

stop being depressed or upset with where you're at right now because we're at

right now is already the past let's focus on what you could be doing in the

future and it's gonna take time patience but also action right 1% change

take you somewhere completely different hmm go apply that to your weights in the

gym just 1% guys just 1% you know you don't even stack a lot of plates on play

the long game well listen I respect your time and and I got some travel I got a

head out of town tonight so I have a very very important task for you I

always ask my guest co-hosts who have rocked the mic today to close us out

with some final words or a final message but I mean your brand pretty much sells

itself I already told people earlier make sure you go to Denise Walsh comm

check out the action planner stay tuned for the journalists coming but also I

mean is there an all-encompassing message over everything you're doing

right now as we're recording here in 2018 you want to leave behind for the

audience like if they forget everybody else we should we shared so much amazing

stuff tonight so yeah yeah what do you got for us you know at the end of the

day I believe we were all created for more and we really all can live a dream

10 life and we can be content and ambitious we can love where we are and

know where we're going so it's creating that space to tap in dig deep and then

go get it and in a year you can absolutely be in a different place so

why not start today I love that and again ladies and gentlemen a year is not

that much time go fast seriously she's rocking it right now so listen Hank I

wanna give you probably buy off the air ladies and gentlemen once again Denise

7 Things About Gashi You Should Know! | Billboard - Duration: 3:01.

- Yeah, what's up, this is Billboard

and you should know me, it's Gashi.

My guilty pleasure, Carvel Ice Cream,

mint, mint chocolate chip, I love it.

I don't remember the first CD I've ever bought me.

I think it was DMX, but I remember the first CD we stole.

I was with my brother and it was a Wu-Tang album.

If someone were to play me in a movie,

I would like it to be, who was that other dude

who was like in the new Jurassic Park?

If anyone would play me in a movie,

it'd be Chris Platt 'cause I look nothing

like him and then I'd get more girls.

When I first met Jay, Decoded, dropped the book and...

I went to the book signing and I put my mixtape inside

the book and then I finally got there, I got super nervous

and he say, "Hey, what's up, what's your name?"

I say, hey, what's up, it's Gashi,

and I gave him the book with the CD in it,

so in hopes if he opens it, then he sees it.

So he just grabbed my mixtape and then throws it

in garbage, signs it, and gives it back to me

and I was just like, okay, I didn't know how to feel.

I was super happy, but at the same time, sad.

It was just like I was crying, but like smiling

at the same time because he touched

the mixtape, that was amazing.

I'm basically to trap Phil Collins, you know?

So it's like everything, all these artists I'm naming

have influenced me somehow and are ingredients

to making my music so it's Bono, Phil Collins,

this guy name named Cheb Khaled, Futcha, Cudi,

Ozzy Osbourne, DMX, what I don't like nowadays

is artists tend to name big legendary artists,

like they'd say things like:

My music's influenced by Jim Morrison, The Doors,

Marilyn Manson, The Beatles and they'll name

all these great artists and then when you play

their music, it don't sound nothing like that,

and that's not what I wanna sound like.

That's not what I'm trying to say right now.

When I say my music sounds like The Police,

I actually am influenced by Sting,

like if you listen to my music, you'll hear the influences,

it'd be, oh, it sounds like Sting, like yeah, it does.

Every song is freestyle, I hear the beat,

I just go in there and I close my eyes,

turn all the lights off and something happens magically.

Same thing happens on stage.

When I'm on stage, I don't remember me doing a show ever.

Just feels like a spirit, it walks into my body

and I just feel like this energy that I never felt before.

The inspiration behind Creep On Me, I just felt like

we live in an era where a lot of people are afraid

to say who they love or to let their friends know

who they like or are into,

so they won't hit them up in front of others,

but they'll do it when they're alone

and I feel like stop creeping, man.

If you really like somebody or really love someone,

tell them, don't wait till it's too late.

♪ Why you acting like that because you creep on ♪
