Hey there everyone!
Today I want to talk to you about Five different ways that you can repurpose video content.
I'm Tricia Clements with MuttButs.com and I want to talk to you about your videos – one
of the things you know that I love the most are videos.
You've spent a lot of time working on your videos whether is it a live stream or a video
that you've recorded and edited.
So, you want to make the most mileage out of that video as you can and the best wat
to do that is to repurpose your videos.
The number one way that you can repurpose that video is on YouTube - The first place
that you want to make sure that you put that video is on YouTube.
That is because YouTube is the number two search engine – just behind Google, the
number one search engine and guess what?
Yes, Google owns YouTube.
You know when you look and search on Google a lot of times on the top search, you'll
find links to YouTube videos and that is not by accident.
So, the first place that you want to do is to put them on YouTube.
You're going to want to make sure that they're properly sized for YouTube.
And that is going to be a horizontal video 1920x1080 – so, make sure that you got it
there.
The main reason for that is to make sure that you get the most eyes on it to make sure that
it is properly sized so that YouTube will get you video out there.
Make sure that you're optimizing it with all the information, the meta data, the tags,
the description, all of that good information.
The second place you need to put your video is on Facebook.
Make sure that you upload your video to Facebook, not just share a link of your YouTube video.
The reason that you're going to do that is because Facebook and Google is kind of
a little bit of a war trying to gain market share from one another and because of that
if you're sharing a link from your YouTube video – when you scroll down your feed in
Facebook that video will not automatically start playing.
It is going to simply be a link.
So, you want to make sure that in your feed when people scroll and they see it – the
video automatically starts playing the way to do that is to upload it directly to Facebook.
And if you have done a Facebook live that this one and then you are going to take that
and put that – let's say on YouTube.
Make sure that you – I really prefer using my phone for my Facebook lives and that is
a vertical which is a 1080x1920 which is basically the opposite of YouTube.
So, I will just take my videos and put it into – I use ShotCut a video editor, make
sure you're sizing your videos the best for the platform.
And for Facebook I like to have either square videos or the – if it's going to be a
Facebook Live I prefer the vertical videos.
If it is – just when you're uploading, you can upload a vertical.
That's fine as well.
The number three place you should put your video is on IGTV.
Now Instagram it says their long form video format and it hasn't pickup quite as much
of I know they were hoping it would.
However, it only takes five to ten minutes extra to make sure that you got your video
formatted for that, so go ahead and put that on IGTV.
The format for that is again vertical which is the… let's see… the 1080x1920.
Alright!
So that's IGTV.
Make sure that you're uploading it, add your description and all of that.
The one thing about IGTV is so far, they're not allowing you to do anything additional
like uploading a transcription which is extremely important.
You really should be going into your YouTube and Facebook and uploading transcriptions
for your videos.
Even after you've done like a Facebook live, later on I'll go back and upload a transcript
of this video.
So, you want to make sure that you do that.
The number four thing that you want to do is use video clips and what I mean by that
is you have a long video and every video the link is really different as far as what you're
using it for, as far as what's the best link of the video is.
However, I like to do videos anywhere from two and a half to ten minutes long.
So what I'll do is I'll take that long video – take one little snippet of information
from the video maybe fifteen to forty-five seconds long and just create a short video
teaser for that.
And it will say "Here's one of the tips!
Click to see the full video for all the rest of the TIPS."
And that is something you've already got the video done, you just snip a little bit
out of it.
When I do that, I like to do a square videos 1080x1080.
The reason I like to do that is because square shows up really well specially on mobile and
that's where a lot of people are watching the videos around their mobile phones.
So, that is why I like to go ahead and just do a square video for the short video clips.
Now the last thing that you're going to want to make sure you do is put your video
on your blog.
Now, remember I said "You need to make sure you transcribe your videos", so when you
transcribe take that transcript and basically put it into a format that is going to be readable
for blog content and then embed your video in your blog.
Now you can embed from any of the places you have directly uploaded it whether you got
it on YouTube – there's and embed link, Facebook, IGTV, all of those have a link that
you can embed directly into your blog.
You want to embed it and not simply uploaded it to your website.
The reason is which every place - let's say you're going to embed your YouTube video
on your blog, that means when people come to your website, they watch your video you're
going to get that watch time on YouTube from your website.
YouTube picks up that the video is being watch so you're going to get that credit on your
social media for YouTube and that's really important for your platform.
So basically, as far as which one you want to embed it really depends on where you want
to those views.
So that's really up to you and what you're doing for your strategy for social media.
Alright!
You have my five TIPS for repurposing your video content and those are my top five.
So, if you have any others, I would like to hear them in the comments below – just post
them and I'll come back and check them out.
Thanks so much for watching and I'll see you soon.
Bye everyone!
