John Mellencamp Talks His New Album, Teaming Up With Carlene Carter | TODAY - Duration: 3:17.

>>> LEGENDARY SINGER/SONG WRITER

JOHN MELLENCAMP HAS BEEN A

STAPLE ON THE MUSIC SCENE FOR

NEARLY 40 YEARS.

>> HE IS SHOWING NO SIGNS OF

SLOWING DOWN.

HE JUST RELEASED HIS 23rd STUDIO

ALBUM, SAD CLOWNS AND

TOUR NEXT MONTH.

>> EXCITED TO HAVE HIM HERE.

HOW ARE YOU?

>> HOW ARE YOU DOING TODAY?

>> "JACK AND DIANE" CAME OUT IN

'82.

I WAS BORN IN '81.

AND IT WAS THE FIRST SONG I

REMEMBER LISTENING TO.

HE WAS ABSCEOBSESSED WITH IT AND

PLAYED IT TO ME.

TO BE HERE WITH ME IS AN HONOR.

>> I BET YOU CAN SING THE WHOLE

THING.

>> I CAN SING THE WHOLE THING.

>> THAT'S THE BEAUTY OF IT.

DYLAN HAS THIS STORY AND WE'RE

TALKING ABOUT "SAD CLOWNS AND

HILLBILLIES" WHAT WAS THE

INSPIRATION FOR THAT?

AND THAT TITLE, TOO?

>> THE TITLE WAS PICKED OFF THE

SONGS WERE RECORDED.

AND IT JUST -- THE WAY THE ALBUM

LINED UP, THAT MADE SENSE THAT

WOULD BE THE NAME OF THE ALBUM.

IT TOOK ABOUT THREE SECONDS

WORTH OF THOUGHT.

>> AND WITH CARLENE CARTER.

>> YES.

>> HOW DID YOU COME TOGETHER?

>> CARLENE AND I MET -- I DID A

SOUNDTRACK FOR A MOVIE MEG RYAN

DIRECTED.

AND THERE WAS A COUPLE SONGS.

AN I HAD CARLENE COME AND SING

THOSE SONGS.

AND THEN, STEVE KING AND I WERE

WORKING ON A MUSICAL.

AND CARLENE HAD A SMALL PART IN

THAT.

AND SO, IT JUST, YOU KNOW, WAS

ALL ORGANIC.

VERY NATURAL, THE WAY IT GREW.

>> I'M INTERESTED IN HOW WHEN

SOMEBODY LIKE YOU, A SONG

WRITER, YOU KEEP CRANKING OUT

THE HITS.

HOW ARE YOU INSPIRED?

YOU ARE A PAINTER, AS WELL.

WERE YOU PAINTING AND GET A

TUNE?

HOW DOES THAT WORK?

>> WHEN YOU'RE A YOUNG GUY AND

START WRITING SONGS, IT'S REALLY

DIFFICULT BECAUSE YOU HAVEN'T

FOUND YOUR VOICE.

I GOT MY FIRST RECORD DEAL WHEN

I WAS 20, 21.

I DIDN'T HAVE A GUITAR WHEN I

GOT MY FIRST RECORD DEAL.

SO, YOU KNOW, I WASN'T REALLY

PREPARED TO BECOME A SONG

WRITER.

BUT AS TIME WENT ON, YOU KNOW,

THE MORE THAT YOU'RE CREATING,

PAINTINGS, CREATING, THE MORE

YOU BECOME OPEN TO IDEAS.

AND THEY JUST KIND OF COME INTO

YOU.

AND THERE'S A SONG ON THE NEW

RECORD CALLED "EASY TARGETS."

AND I WAS PAINTING.

AND THIS VOICE GOES, JOHN, YOU

MIGHT WANT TO PUT YOUR PAINT

BRUSH DOWN AND WRITE THESE WORDS

DOWN.

AND I WENT, NO.

I DON'T WANT TO.

I KEPT PAINTING.

FINALLY, THE VOICE GOT THE BEST

OF ME.

I WALKED OVER TO MY PHONE.

I SANG THE SONG INTO MY PHONE.

PUT IT BACK DOWN.

AND THEN, FOUND IT A COUPLE DAYS

LATER AND GO, WHEN DID I WRITE

THAT?

>> HOW COOL IS THAT?

SO LOST IN THE PAINTING WORLD,

JUST BANG OUT ANOTHER ALBUM.

>> YOUR TOUR, YOU'RE GOING TO BE

IN OUTDOOR STADIUMS?

150 - Setting up discussion forums - Duration: 4:19.

Allowing students to communicate with each other through a discussion forum is sometimes

used in courses.

Especially large courses where the instructor wants to encourage students to assist each

other.

Everything that you see in this video can also be applied to group discussions as well.

In other words, you can create a discussion forum for every group in your course, and

have them interact with each other.

The principle of setting up discussions for the entire class, or for groups, is identical.

The terminology that we introduce here is applicable in both situations.

To start creating a discussion, click on "Collaborate" and then "Discussions".

You can also reach this point by clicking on "Course Admin" and then going down to "Discussions".

To start with, let's actually go look at a forum that has been set up already to introduce

some terminology.

Under "Discussions" you can see that you can have more than one forum per course.

Here is an example of two forums.

And under each forum you can have multiple topics.

Use this these forums to group questions related to modules for example, or related to various

aspects of your course (perhaps a one for assignments, another for workshops, and a

final forum for a project).

Under each forum you create one or more topics related to that general discussion area.

The columns around threads, posts and last posts allow you to track, at a glance, what

has happened.

Once you have set up your forums, under the "More Actions" button you have the ability

to reorder your forums, to delete, or to restore in case you have deleted something unintentionally.

Let's go look at how we set up this discussion list.

We did that by clicking on "New" and under that option we have "New Forum".

Fill in a title, optionally provide a description and then there are various options below that.

Many of these are self explanatory, however please click on the question mark icon to

see some more help about each option.

Forums can be made visible, or invisible, depending on certain date and time ranges.

"Locking" means that the forum is closed for further new activities and discussions.

You can also specify certain ranges when the forum is unlocked.

In other words, it is open for activity.

This allows you to pre-populate the forums and then lock it for later use in your course.

Generally we recommend you simply leave your forum unlocked.

Once you are completed, click on "Save and Close" to save these settings.

So there we have our forum and our first topic has the same name as our forum title.

Let's click on that topic now and add a new thread.

As an instructor or teaching assistant, we recommend you start the conversation yourself

by posting the first thread.

Once you are finished you can then pin a thread, that means the thread is at the top and always

visible to students.

You can also subscribe to your own thread and that way you are notified of any posts

made to it as a reply.

You can of course add attachments.

And you can post that thread to more than one topic, not just the current topic.

So let's go back to our forums.

One thing to note is that next to the forum title you have the ability to view forum statistics.

This allows you to track what has happened, who has posted, who has replied, who has read.

You can also export that information to a CSV file.

It might be of interest that you want the students to rate each other's posts.

You can provide various rating systems, for example a five star rating scheme, an up vote/down

vote rating scheme or upvote-only rating scheme.

You can then use these ratings from students as part of their assessment and this can be

connected automatically to the grade book.

To do so, edit the topic and under those settings you can then select the assessments tab and

configure which grade item in the gradebook will receive the grades, as well as how that

grade is calculated.

So to close off, we recommend you use discussion forums, especially in a large classroom setting,

to enable students to assist each other.

Ilyes Medallel - LA DEFENSE - Duration: 3:04.

It's a strange, cold landscape.

A black and white universe that looks completely scary.

A world in which you randomly wander,

far away from your sanctuary ...

Here, grey has absorbed all colors,

making us feel confused, almost angry.

Here, we get lost ...

We keep on looking at the clock,

and we're missing our good old careless school holidays.

This place's architecture is fascinating,

but here, I've mainly seen completely lost people,

overburdened by the weight of their jobs

while they move in this dark, unexciting bubble.

Here, I've seen glass all over the place, but so few green areas.

All around me, I've seen dizziying, austere towers.

Even when you go behind the scenes, this place doesn't sell dreams ...

Here, I've seen people constantly being in a hurry,

crammed together in the uderground,

trying to move along fast, looking under pressure.

Sure, time is flying,

but nothing prevents you from enjoying your life before it disappears.

Building Resilience - Duration: 3:58.

Think of a challenging time in your life.

Maybe you had a problem at school...or work...or with your partner.

Maybe you were under a lot of financial stress...

Did you find it hard to get through this time?

What helped you move forward?

Being able to work through life's challenges in a positive way is called being resilient.

Resilience is about being able to cope through challenging times...and recover afterwards.

It helps us to thrive and reach our full potential – even when times are tough and it can make

the difference between feeling overwhelmed by a challenge and using the experience as

something to learn from.

Resilience doesn't come from having a perfect life.

It doesn't mean we always have to be happy.

In fact, it's normal to feel sad or angry during tough situations.

Resilience is more about how we move forward through the challenges and deal with them

successfully!

Sounds like a good thing ...right?

It is!

In fact, research shows that being resilient helps us recover from illness faster, live

longer, and do better in our daily activities.

It also helps us to have happier, healthier relationships.

The good news is that we can all practice skills to be more resilient and to help others

be resilient too.

Being resilient is not just something you are born with …..or without.

It's something we can ALL work on over time!

We can even help teach our family these skills.

Improving our resilience skills helps protect us against mental health challenges and illnesses

in the future.

Let's look at an example.

This is Jennifer.

Jennifer has been having a hard time lately and is feeling stressed and upset.

Her mom isn't well, she has some major bills she didn't expect this month and her dog

Shilo passed away a couple of weeks ago.

So, what are some things that Jennifer can do to help her through this hard time?

Well, she can think about things that helped her cope in the past.

She knows that … being active

listening to her favorite music, and spending time with her friends and family

helps her feel better

She can also think about good things in her life … like her relationship with her partner.

She can think of solutions for some of the things she has control over…maybe she can

work some extra shifts to help with the bills.

Jennifer should also know that talking to a health care professional is always a good

idea when going through difficult times.

One of the best parts about resilience that It is never too early or too late to start

practicing!

So, let's recap some proven ways to build and maintain resilience ...

Like…

Knowing your strengths Thinking of things that you are grateful for

Being able to find solutions to challenging situations

Being OK with not doing everything perfectly Practicing deep breathing and meditation or

mindfulness.

Asking friends, family or a health care professional for help.

Letting your kids work through challenges and supporting them as they learn how to deal

with their struggles And of course eating healthy, having healthy

hobbies, getting enough sleep and spending time with your loved ones help us all.

Like Jennifer, we can all benefit from these tips when we are going through challenges...and

we can even pass them onto others when they are going through difficult times.

So now….think about the things that helped you with a challenging period in your life.

What new things could you do next time that would be help?

Write these things down…so you can go back to the list to when you need it.

Try one thing this week that you can do to build on and maintain resilience in your life!

Maybe we can sort of do that together.

That sounds great.

You see these lines, the little white strands?

Yes.

So you see all the different cups and different designs?

Yeah.

So you get to make the design today.

So it's really personal.

It is very personal, yeah.

Wow.

Put the tip.

Just the tip?

Just the tip.

That's what we always say.

Just the tip.

Just give me the tip.

Yep.

Just the whole process is really like,

it's like I can tell somebody,

I was literally making this for you.

I have a whole new respect for making glass.

Like, I think about when my wife and I got married

and she would throw glasses around the house

when she was upset.

So now I'm like, "Yo, that's Kazuki's glass,"

like, why are you-- you know how hard it is to make glass?

Are you ready to shape molten glass?

Shape it and turn it.

Uh-huh.

Okay.

So... really, really lightly.

Hold it at an angle?

You can keep it straight-- you did really good, though.

It's all you.

We just did one clear coat over the color.

Okay.

Now, what's the right level of blow so it doesn't explode?

Uh...

[blows lightly] Is that good?

Start light and then we'll...

Oh, I'm gonna start real light.

...adjust.

All right.

Blow, please.

Blow harder, blow harder, blow harder.

Oh!

Blow, blow, blow!

Stop.

Wow...

Let's see how that went.

Damn.

Wow, that looks good.

That looks crazy.

All right.

HOW TO get rid of acne and acne scars fast (MY RECIPE) - Lemon and Hot Water - Duration: 8:11.

How to get rid of acne and acne scars fast with lemon and hot water!

This recipe will help you get rid of acne really fast.

I'm not making this up, I tried this myself

And I showed this to a couple of people and they all got pretty good results with it.

What I like about this:

It's very simple.

All you need is one lemon and hot water.

So you squeeze on lemon every morning, mix it with hot water and drink it.

Very simple, but yet effective.

You can find out on the internet that lemon is healthy,

you should drink lemonade...

That's not really true.

I tried this in a couple of different ways and this is the best.

Mix it with just a little bit of hot water.

Your body will absorb it better and you will get more out of it.

This will work for everybody, especially for teenagers.

When you're young, your hormones are imbalanced, you are eating junk food...

Your body can't get rid of all the toxins(all the bad stuff).

So, what lemon will do, it wil detox your body.

It will force your body to get rid of all the bad stuff.

Me personally, I don't give a fu*k about this, but I know that there are a lot of people that have big problems,

I might help you out.

Drink this every morning for 10 days.

You will see improvement.

I realised when I'm drinking lemon that I have a lot more energy

and I'm recovering really fast from my training.

One more thing you have to do is

drink more water,

because lemon acts like a diuretic.

Just add in 1 liter of water to whatever you're drinking right now.

You want to swing more?

That's it!

I respect that!

You know how they say:

I was hyperactive as a kid, but not anymore!

That's so funny to me.

"My life is great now".

"I just take Bromazepam every day and everything is great".

Imma do 2,3 Pushups, until this gets done, fu*k this.

Did I do 2 or 3 Push ups?

You did only 1!

I did only 1, right?

I'm getting heavier, right?

Dzafic is getting slower.

"He is not how he used to be".

He's just a little bit stronger now.

He's a bigger DAD, now!

2,3,5

Come on

What's up guys?

That's it, done.

Enough.

You see how I turned the fire off, nobody can do this.

Show my sons how much water you need.

Enough.

Don't put too much water.

It will absorb better and work better this way.

You gotta listen to me.

Let's try this out!

Goood!

Try it.

Tell the how is it.

Drink it all.

Here we go.

I'm used to this.

Listen to me little girl

Get rid of powder, just take this what Dzafic tells you!

Every morning

Just a little bit of how water, one lemon

Everything will be alright!

You heard him, young ladies!

MORE LEMON, LESS POWDER!

Ooooo look at this man

He was drinking lemon and now he is on shirt!

He is so big!

Look at this arm.

You can do whatever you want with it.

Pull trucks, planes...

Whatever you want.

You saw it, that's it.

LOOKING TO MAKE IT BIGGER AND

BETTER THIS YEAR?

WE LOVE TO HAVE MORE PEOPLE

SHOW UP.

WE'RE HOPING THE WEATHER

COOPERATES WITH US.

IT WAS LOOKING PRETTY GOOD.

AND THEN TODAY WE LOOKED AND

ITS EAST TENNESSEE.

WAIT FIVE MINUTES AND IT

CHANGES.

TALK TO US ABOUT THE CAR

SHOW AND THE AUTO SHOW.

IT'S MORE THAN JUST A CAR SHOW.

THERE'S A LOT GOING ON.

YES.

WE HAVE PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER.

THEY COME FROM -- THERE'S NINE

DIFFERENT CATEGORIES.

FROM CUSTOM STREET RIDES TO

MUSCLE CARS TO ANTIQUES TO

TRACTORS.

AND IT JUST GOES ON AND ON.

WE ALSO HAVE DIFFERENT PRIZES

THAT WE GIVE AWAY.

THERE'S CASH PRIZES.

FOR FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD.

WE'LL CALL THEM UP AND IT'S $100

FOR FIRST AND 50 FOR SECOND AND

THIRD.

AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE THE

PLAQUES THAT WE GIVE AWAY FOR

EACH OF THOSE NINE CATEGORIES.

SO PEOPLE ARE PRETTY PROUD OF

THEIR CARS AND TRACTORS AND

THEIR MOTORCYCLES THAT THEY

BRING TO GET JUDGED.

SO WE HAVE A GOOD TIME.

WE ALSO DO TWO OTHER THINGS.

WE DO A 50-50 WHICH PEOPLE MAKE

QUITE A BIT OF MONEY.

MAKE SOME MONEY.

YEAH.

AND ALSO WE HAVE A CAKEWALK FOR

THE KIDS.

AND FOOD CITY SUPPLIES US WITH

THE CAKES.

THAT WE GIVE AWAY.

SO EVERYONE HAS A GOOD TIME.

WE HAVE MUSIC GOING.

ALL DAY LONG FROM 9:00 TO 3:00.

RIGHT THERE IN THE PARKING

LOT.

FOOD CITY AT ANDREW JOHNSON

HIGHWAY IN FOOD CITY IN

GREENVILLE.

DARLING, I GOT TO ASK YOU.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE VEHICLE

OVER THE PAST FOUR OR FIVE

YEARS THAT YOU'VE SEEN THAT YOU

REALLY LIKE?

IT COULD BE PARTIAL -- I

COULD BE PARTIAL AND SAY MY

HUSBAND'S 1970 CHEVELLE.

BUT I ALSO LIKE SOME OF THE

OLDER CARS.

MODEL A, --

BACK TO THE HISTORY OF

THINGS.

THAT'S WHAT THIS IS ALL

ABOUT IS SHOWING US THE HISTORY

OF THE AUTOMOBILE AND THE

HISTORY OF TRACTORS AND

VEHICLES FROM OUR REGION.

OH, YEAH.

WE HAVE VEHICLES FROM 1917 AND

1920s, '30s AND '40s.

ALL THE WAY UP.

IT IS GREAT BECAUSE THE KIDS

GET TO SEE ALL THESE DIFFERENT

THINGS.

WE JUST HAD A THING WHERE WE

BROUGHT SOME VEHICLES OVER TO

THE TECH CENTER IN GREENVILLE.

AND IT SHOWED ALL THE KIDS OVER

THERE THAT ARE IN THE

INDUSTRIAL ARTS GET TO SEE ALL

THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CARS AND

SOME OF THEM ARE REALLY

INTERESTED.

IN GETTING INTO THESE OLDER

CARS AND FIXING THEM UP AND

SHOWING THEM.

ALL RIGHT.

IT'S GOING TO BE A BIG TIME.

WE'VE GOT INFORMATION RIGHT

HERE.

IT IS COMING UP AT FOOD CITY ON

ANDREW JOHNSON HIGHWAY IN

Great Day Of Yoga - Duration: 3:40.

EMMA, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR

BEING WITH US TODAY.

ON MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND YOU

CAN TAKE PART IN THE TRI-CITIES

LARGEST YOGA EVENT.

TO TALK TO US MORE ABOUT THE

GREAT DAY OF YOGA HELD RIGHT

HERE IN JOHNSON CITY,

KIMBERLING, SYDNEY FAR THE --

FARTHING BOTH JOINING US.

TALK TO US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT

THE GREAT DAY OF YOGA.

THE FIRST TIME YOU GUYS ARE

HOLDING THIS.

RIGHT?

THAT'S RIGHT.

WE ARE EXCITED.

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE KNOW

OF THAT WE'VE SEEN SO MANY

STUDIOS FROM THIS AREA COME

TOGETHER FOR A CAUSE.

SO FOR US IT REALLY IS MAYBE A

STEP TO SOMETHING BIGGER.

HOPEFULLY WE CAN DO THIS EVERY

YEAR.

WE'RE GOING TO BE FEATURING

DIFFERENT TEACHERS AND

INSTRUCTORS FROM ALL THESE

DIFFERENT STUDIOS WHO ARE

PARTICIPATING AND WE'RE GOING

TO BE RAISING MONEY FOR

ACHIEVING LANDMARK STATUS FOR

DOWNTOWN JOHNSON CITY OVER

THERE AT THE PARK WHERE THE

LIBRARY IS.

WONDERFUL.

ALL THE MONEY RAISED.

IT COST $5.

ALL THE MONEY RAISED WILL GO

BACK INTO TRYING TO ACHIEVE

THAT LANDMARK STATUS.

RIGHT?

THAT'S RIGHT.

TELL ME A LITTLE BIT ABOUT

WHAT PEOPLE CAN EXPECT WHEN

THEY COME TO THE EVENT.

WHAT KIND OF VENDORS AND

CLASSES WILL BE THERE?

MAY 13 LIKE YOU SAID.

3:00 P.M.

TO 5:00 P.M.

WE ARE EXPECTING TO HAVE

MULTIPLE VENDORS.

YOGA RELATED.

WE'VE GOT MASSAGE THERAPISTS.

ESSENTIAL OILS AND ARIEL ARTS

STUDIO AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

WANTED TO BRING STUDIOS FROM

THE TRI-CITIES TOGETHER SO WE

GOT TWO FROM BRISTOL AND TWO

FROM JOHNSON CITY AND ONE FROM

KINGSPORT.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE CLASSES

PEOPLE CAN TAKE LEX

ONE STARTS AT 3:15.

THE OTHER STARTS AT 4:15.

YOU CAN TAKE BOTH.

THEY ARE GOING TO BE AVAILABLE

TO ALL LEVELS.

ONE OF THE REALLY EXCITING

THINGS ABOUT THIS IS WE ARE

HOPING TO SEE PEOPLE WHO HAVE

NEVER TRIED YOGA BEFORE.

SOMETIMES THERE ARE QUESTION

MARKS.

THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT.

SO WE HOPE TO GIVE THEM AN

ENVIRONMENT AND WE'RE GOING TO

MAKE SURE THAT IT IS OPEN TO

ALL LEVELS.

WE'RE GOING TO HAVE PEOPLE AND

DEMONSTRATION PLATFORMS AND

HAVE OTHER TEACHERS GOING

AROUND ASSISTING PEOPLE WHO

NEED EXTRA HELP SO WE WANT TO

MAKE SURE EVERYONE FEELS

COMFORTABLE AND HAS A GOOD

TIME.

WONDERFUL.

YOU SAID THERE'S NOT JUST YOGA

GOING BUT SOME VENDORS AS WELL.

TELL ME ABOUT THAT.

MULTIPLE PEOPLE.

AFTERWARDS ALSO U-HAUL IS GOING

TO PROVIDE EVERYBODY WITH A

HALF PINT OF BEER.

THERE YOU GO.

[ LAUGHTER ] YOGA CLASSES.

LIKE YOU SAID.

IT'S $5 TO GET IN AND YOU GET

ONE TICKET FOR A DOOR PRIZE

DRAWING.

EACH STUDIO HAS THEIR OWN

BASKET.

WE ARE GOING TO GIVE THOSE AWAY

AS WELL.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE PEOPLE WILL

TAKE OUT OF THIS EVENT WHEN

THEY GO THERE?

I THINK FOR ME FROM MY

PERSPECTIVE IT'S JUST TO CREATE

A YOGA COMMUNITY AND EVERYONE

MEET EVERYONE.

YOU KIND OF GET YOUR HOME

STUDIO AND THE PLACE YOU'RE

COMFORTABLE WITH MAYBE WHERE

YOU'VE BEEN GOING FOR A WHILE.

NOW YOU CAN MEET AND GREET THE

OTHER PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY.

EVERYONE HAS THEIR PREFERENCES

BUT IT'S NICE FOR EVERYONE TO

GET TOGETHER AND HAVE A GOOD

TIME.

AND ALSO TRYING TO ACHIEVE

THAT LANDMARK STATUS.

RIGHT?

ABSOLUTELY.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US

. ABOUT THE GREAT DAY OF YOGA.

THAT IS HAPPENING ON MOTHER'S
