Best Major for Law School - Duration: 5:50.

Welcome to LearnLawBetter.

Wondering what is the best major for law school?

Want to get a head start in college?

Stay to the end, as I provide you with my insights, having taught law students since

the year 2000.

Don't forget to hit the like button if you enjoy this episode, and click the subscribe

button and bell if you don't want to miss any future episodes.

Hi, this is Beau Baez, and today I want to discuss the best major for law school.

Law schools don't have any specific course of study requirements, which means anyone

with any major can go to law school.

So whether you majored in engineering, scuba diving, Medieval history, or Chinese language,

you can go to law school.

Having taught thousands of law students, I've observed certain college majors that make

for stronger and weaker students.

Before I go any further, what I am going to provide you are general observations, as there

are always exceptions.

By working hard and being willing to learn, you can overcome a major that did not prepare

you for law school.

First, let's discuss some majors that can create barriers for law school success.

One: Journalism.

Journalism majors are taught to provide short and to-the-point conclusions.

That skill hurts them when they go to law school because law school exams are all about

fully explaining answers through the use of the IRAC method.

My standard advice to the journalism major is to be more verbose, and pretend they are

writing to someone that needs a detailed explanation.

Now don't lose hope if you are a journalist.

One of my best students, Ashley, was a journalist and she is now teaching at a law school.

Two: English majors.

The problem here is that English majors often believe they know how to write, so they don't

spend much time mastering law school exam writing.

The type of writing done in most English departments does not include the technical writing required

in law school.

My advice to English majors is to pretend they don't know how to write, and practice

writing law school practice exams early in the semester.

Three: Paralegals, Pre-Law, and Criminal Justice.

These students come to law school believing they have a huge advantage because they know

how the law works.

That's just not true.

They may understand how a law firm works, or have some basic legal knowledge, but that

is not useful when preparing for a law school exam.

This means that they usually don't work as hard, believing they already understand

the law.

My advice to them is to pretend they don't know the law, and to use the elaborative interrogation

technique to test their knowledge.

By the way, criminal justice majors have the lowest average LSAT scores of any major.

Now let's look at the best law school majors.

One: Philosophy.

By far, the philosophy majors are the best prepared for law school.

This doesn't mean they are all top students, but they generally do well.

Law school, like philosophy departments, use the Socratic method.

Also, both disciplines require students to compare two positions.

Finally, philosophy teaches some of the same critical thinking skills that you need in law school.

Two: Music.

Not many music majors go to law school, but they generally do well.

This may be because of the discipline it requires to be a music major, as they spend countless

hours practicing their instruments.

So its not the major per se that helps them, but rather the discipline they bring to law

school that is the reason for their success.

Years ago, when I was in high school, I was playing in a community orchestra, and there was the first violinist

in the orchestra, who was an exceptionally successful partner in a large Miami law firm.

Three: engineering.

Engineers tend to be serious and work hard at understanding.

Like philosophy majors, they're not always at the very top of their class, but they don't

flunk out.

The main problem with engineering majors are their undergraduate grades.

It is very hard to get all A's as an engineering major, and lower grades

keep them from getting into the top law schools.

My final bit of advice.

If you're just starting your college journey and you are 100% committed to going to law

school, pick a major that you enjoy and one where you can get top grades.

This is because law school admission departments primarily value high GPA's and high LSAT

scores.

I knew I was going to law school back in high school, so I picked a major that I thought would get me top grades.

I graduated from a lower ranked university with a degree in Speech Communications and

a 3.96 GPA with only two B's in college.

My GPA and high LSAT score got me into a top 10 law school.

But be warned, if you pick a major like philosophy and you don't go to law school, you may

find it difficult to get a job.

Fecal Shields, and 5 Other Ways Animals Use Poop - Duration: 7:58.

[ INTRO ]

Everybody poops -- from beetles to blue whales.

After all, it's a good way to get waste out of your body, even if we tend to dispose

of it as discreetly as possible.

However, a turd can tell us a lot about the animal it came from, and some species have

even found ways to put this stuff to good use.

Here are six animals with really fascinating — and useful — feces.

Wombats -- those cute Australian marsupials -- produce about 80 to 100 dry, fibrous turds

every evening.

Which is… a lot of poop.

But they aren't just notable for how many of them there are.

They're also… square.

That's right, each one is a two-centimeter cube -- but for good reason.

Wombats are nocturnal and live in burrows, where they rely mostly on their sense of smell

rather than vision.

Strategically leaving piles of four to eight turds scattered around their territory creates

a sort of wall of smell to let other wombats know that the area is occupied.

Kind of like a strange, smelly picket fence.

They leave them in conspicuous spots like on top of rocks and logs, and their square

shape helps keep them from rolling off and being lost.

That weird shape is produced thanks to wombat's very slow digestion and very long digestive

tract.

It takes more than two weeks for the vegetation they eat to pass through their gut, and this

lengthy process lets their feces become dry and compact.

Stiff ridges in a portion of their large intestine help mold the turds into cubes, and because

they're so hard, they don't get squeezed into another shape when they pass out of the

anus.

Now, passing up to a hundred turds the size, shape, and hardness of dice every day seems

like it would leave wombats' rears a little sore.

But thankfully, they seem to be doing alright.

In most animals, poop pretty much looks like poop no matter what sex you are.

But not for wild turkeys.

Besides males having brighter plumage and flashier wattles, you can also tell males

and females apart by their turds.

Male, tom turkeys produce long, thin turds, while female turkeys make small, coiled clumps.

This might seem pointless, but it's actually because of differences in their internal anatomy.

See, male and female birds both have a single opening, the cloaca, that they use for both

sex and defecating.

Female turkeys have plenty of room inside their cloaca -- after all, it has to be big

and stretchy enough for eggs to pass through.

All this space lets their feces get bunched up and rounded on the way out.

Males, however, have a little phallus taking up real estate inside their cloaca, so their

droppings get squeezed out in long worm-like shapes.

In most bird species, male genitals are even smaller or nonexistent, and a result this

difference in poop doesn't happen.

But turkeys can't help leaving clues about their sex wherever they go.

Not that researchers — or hunters — are complaining.

There are lots of reasons to love penguins.

I mean, they just look so dapper in those feather tuxedos.

But two species -- chinstrap penguins and and Adélie penguins -- have another awesome

trait: they're champion poopers.

These guys can projectile poop about 40 centimeters.

Which is a lot for a bird just 70 centimeters tall!

It'd be like if you could shoot your poop almost a meter.

Penguins are protected by law and can't be approached closer than 5 meters without

a special permit.

So, to get around this, a group of scientists who wanted to study this pooping power examined

photos of birds caught in the act.

Their calculations, published in the journal Polar Biology in 2003, show that these penguins'

cloacas generate around 60 kilopascals of pressure.

That's three times what our human anuses can manage.

And there's a good reason for this pooping prowess.

Adult penguins are the only thing standing between their eggs and all sorts of nasty

Antarctic predators.

If they left their nests to poop, they'd be leaving their eggs vulnerable -- but pooping

in place could make their nests and feathers a stinky mess.

This way, they can waddle over to the nest's edge, aim away from the eggs, and pow -- mischief

managed.

So think about that the next time you visit the zoo.

There's a scientific name for almost everything, including eating your poop: coprophagy.

The animal most notorious for this is the innocent-looking bunny rabbit.

Rabbits eat tough, cellulose-filled plant material, which is hard to digest.

So to handle this, they've evolved something called hindgut fermentation.

All that partially digested grass and stuff gets broken down by bacteria in a specialized

pouch called the cecum, which is located at the start of their large intestine.

The problem is, this happens after the material has already passed through the stomach and

small intestine, where most nutrient absorption happens.

So at night rabbits produce special turds called cecotropes, which are soft and dark

like tar… and then eat them.

Not my first choice for a midnight snack.

This gives them a second pass at absorbing nutrients once the tough material has been

broken down by their gut microbes.

And after the second time through, the feces come out dry and hard.

If you own a rabbit, this is usually the stuff you'll find in their cage in the morning.

It's basically the same as cows chewing their cud -- it's just that rabbits do it

from the other end.

The larvae of certain Chrysomelidae beetles, like the tortoise beetles, have found a unique

purpose for their poop.

It's actually pretty awesome.

They save their poop -- or frass, as insect feces are technically known -- and stick it

together along with discarded exoskeletons to form fecal shields that they suspend over

their backs.

Yeah.

Poop shields.

They accomplish this thanks to a long, flexible anus that lets them deposit their poop right

where they want it.

The shield is attached to a structure called the anal fork, and the beetle larva can even

swing it around to smack at incoming predators.

You can't make this stuff up

Admittedly, fecal shields are actually chemical weapons, not physical ones.

Baby tortoise beetles, for example, eat the leaves of a specific plant in the nightshade

genus that's full of nasty chemicals.

Rather than breaking down these noxious compounds in their bodies, the larvae just poop them

out, and they're what drive would-be beetle predators away.

When the larvae eventually grow up to be adult beetles, they leave their fecal shields behind

like a beloved childhood stuffed animal.

Or something.

But thanks to poop, they're able to get a much safer start in life.

Most of the animals in this list seem to poop mainly for their own benefit.

But whale poop serves a much bigger purpose.

If you haven't noticed, whales are huge.

They also consume a lot of nutrients and travel long distances, so it's no surprise that

their poop has a similarly outsized effect on ocean ecosystems.

It turns out the ocean food web is powered in part by something scientists call the "whale

pump," and yes, it has to do with poop.

See, whales descend into deep waters in search of food, as many species do, and gobble up

the nutrients down there.

Then, when they poop, it floats -- because instead of producing dense turds, they poop

out a fluffy slurry that rises to the surface.

Normally, organic matter in the ocean sinks, but this redistributes nutrients in the opposite

direction.

That poop recharges the surface water with nutrients that feed plankton, which feed…

pretty much everything else in the ocean.

Scientists have calculated that before commercial whaling got going, this whale pump action

distributed three times as much nitrogen across the Gulf of Maine as it got via the atmosphere.

Even with today's reduced whale populations, whale poop is putting more nitrogen into the

region than flows in via all the rivers and streams that drain into it.

This is important because nitrogen is a key nutrient for phytoplankton, the kind that

photosynthesize, and at northern latitudes it's otherwise in short supply.

It isn't just nitrogen, either -- krill, an important type of zooplankton, need plenty

of iron, another nutrient that can be hard to come by in the ocean.

And whale poop is, surprise, iron-rich.

Besides feeding all kinds of little ocean creatures, whale poop also creates a surprisingly

useful carbon sink, which can take potentially harmful carbon dioxide out of the oceans.

When all those Poop-fueld plankton eventually die, they sink to the bottom of the ocean floor and are buried in sediment--

This is called sequestering carbon.

According to some estimates, sperm whale poop could indirectly be helping sequester 400,000

tons of carbon in the Southern Ocean each year.

Which is especially helpful as more carbon dioxide enters the ocean thanks to climate change

So whale poop, it seems, might be one of our best secret weapons against a changing climate.

And the ocean would be a very different place without it.

It's too bad that talking about poop is a bit taboo.

Because if nothing else, these examples tell us that poop is actually awesome.

Instead of just burying and forgetting about it as quickly as possible, some animals use

it to communicate, defend themselves, and even fertilize their habitats.

They recycle it to get as many nutrients as possible… and they shoot it surprising distances

to keep themselves neat and tidy.

So even though it's easy to make jokes about it, poop is actually really useful, and our

world wouldn't be the same without it.

Bridge Exercise -- Single Leg Shoulder Bridge Exercise Challenge ( Core! Glutes!) - Duration: 2:09.

Hi I'm Sonya Lo, this is the third video on the shoulder bridge. You will

learn some variations to make it a more challenging for you. On your back, knees

bend with a block or ball in between your legs, feet parallel. Inhale prepare,

on exhale roll your hips up towards the ceiling, take inhale on the top and then

roll you spine down. The pelvic curl in the very beginning is all about pressing

down into the floor to activate your abdominals. Once you get up there, on

exhale you're going to squeeze into the block then extend your left leg out and

make sure you don't move the block or your pelvis, then try the other side.

You will alternate sides for five sets. Really feel your abdominal muscles, your

inner thighs and your lower glutes working together to hold you up there.

This is much harder than it looks, a lot of core control to stabilize your

torso and your pelvis. This is our last one and once you finish the last

one, you're gonna roll your spine down, from your upper back, mid back, lower

back, sacrum and finally your tailbone. Next roll your spine up again and hold

your position and extend your left leg out. This time you're going to add ten pulses.

This will increase the intensity of your lower glutes, your inner thighs and

your abdominals, then switch sides. Hope you like these variations and

challenges. Remember to subscribe to this channel Sonya Lo Pilates & Posture

and you can also like and share this video with others. Thank you again for

watching and see you next time.

can literally go out there get a VA have them fulfill everything that's very

seamless so I walk you through that the most important aspect of this course is

once you have everything set up you found your actual product you have

to know how to go out there and actually promote now there's multiple ways for

you to promote your actual product whether it be Instagram whether it be

Pinterest whether they be snapchat or they be Facebook within this course I

really dive into actual Facebook because I feel like that's the route that most

beginners actually take and the most important aspect of it is knowing how to

target I think that's the most crucial aspect of it is knowing how to find the

people to place your product in front of and I show you three different ways that

you can actually target so definitely check out that module and at the end of

that module I show you guys exactly how to set up your first ad I'll show you

step by step how to get that ad setting to the copy to the imagery to I set up

the links it's a complete walkthrough well and then that's a bonus for you

guys I'll show you guys how to use funnels okay and I'm sure you talked

about funnels life itself is an actual funnel and it's very crucial it's a

great way for you now one to test multiple products and then to be able to

control what your customer actually sees and to be able to upsell additional

products that you can pair so my walking detail into that for you and that's

really gonna go ahead and complete the actual course so as you can see here

The Importance of Specializing Your Business - Duration: 3:20.

The more

things that you offer

the less specialized you are in any of them and

the less likely you are to really get hired in any of them

so you need to

narrow it way way WAY down

If you can offer one service that's amazing!

If you can do two that are sort

of similar like weddings and engagements

totally fair to do those.

Babies maternity family?

Great.

But there are people who just shoot newborns

and make a lot of money.

There are people who just shoot high school seniors or Boudoir.

Just weddings, just corporate headshots, just food photography

and make a lot of money.

If you were to go into a restaurant

that sold burritos

and sushi

and lasagna

and you could get your tires changed while you were there

AND somebody would fit

you for eye glasses, I know this sounds a lot like Costco,

but nobody goes to

Costco or Walmart or any of these stores

because their stuff is super good.

They go because everything is there and it's super cheap so if you can sell millions

of units a year

then you're golden

but if you don't want to do five hundred

photo shoots in a year at, you know,

a couple hundred bucks apiece then

you need to specialize.

Does that mean you have to stop shooting everything else?

No.

But if you want to be a family photographer then don't have your landscapes on there.

Don't have your travel photos

don't have pictures of your kids unless that's the

kind of photography that you're selling.

But you should only have the stuff on

your website

that is what you are selling to your clients.

Now I know some

photographers will have like an artist work, uh,

passion projects, things like that

sure go ahead and put those in your blog that's totally fine when you have you

know regular content posts,

but don't have specific galleries and pages for them

because that sends mixed messages and your clients want to hire you

because you're really good at the thing they want photos of.

Just like you want

people to specialize in a thing and be really good at it and not offer

everything under the sun,

it's the exact same when you are offering that to your client.

So, figure out what you want to make your business around what you

actually want to charge a

sustainable amount of money for

and then do that.

And then if you want to host like another tumblr page or

Instagram or Flickr or 500 pixels or any of the other photo

hosting places,

Go ahead and stick the photos on there,

but keep them away from that brand don't put

that business name on them or things like that.

Just just offer what you're

gonna offer to your clients and don't list anything else.

Thanks for tuning in!

Using Client Feedback to Improve Your Business - Duration: 2:46.

Asking for feedback is invaluable

and you can do this in just about every

just about every stage of your process.

So, after you've booked somebody and you do your

consultation,

now's a good time

to be like "Hey, you know how helpful was this stuff that I've sent you, to prepare

for this shoot, to prepare for anything."

Right?

Uh...

"How easy was it to navigate the website?

Did you have trouble getting a hold of me when you wanted to reach out

to me?"

Just ask a couple simple questions and find out and if enough people start

telling you

"Yeah, the contact form didn't work or I

tried calling the number, but it was some pizza place instead, but

I found you on a business card and you know."

Then you know that there was an error somewhere and

you can go fix that thing because who knows how many other clients you're

missing out on because of that one thing.

Uh...

I know that I've had broken links on my website

and I had no idea because there's a thousand links on my website

and maybe I checked all of them, but three

and those are the three that are broken.

I want everything to work

and that's why it's great to have another set of eyes on it

and if, you know, you don't have somebody else

like working with you to do all of those things,

then...

let your clients tell you

because they totally will.

People are full of opinions

and they are happy to

share them with you.

Ask about how people felt about things.

"Did you feel prepared for that?"

"How comfortable were you in the location?"

Not, "did you like this or did you like that?" because that's like,

*Indifferent* "Oh, yeah...that was pretty cool, I guess."

Right?

Those are the answers you're gonna get.

So, ask for very specific things.

...And take notes.

Also ask them ahead of time if you can take notes

and use some of these things as a testimonial on your website

And almost everyone is going to be cool with it.

But, you want to get this part in writing also.

So ask if you can use their name and a photo of them

with their testimonial.

And if they say no to either of those things totally cool.

If they only want you to use a photo or only

want you to use use a name, then that's cool.

High School | Parenthood Series | Spoken Word Poetry | By: Poetic Daisy - Duration: 1:24.

High school

You're in high school so I'm prepared for attitude

I know at times you'll be rude But it's only because you want to be grown

I'll leave you alone So long as you know I'm always here

I'm always a listening ear But I'll stay clear

Of you so you can have some space I won't waste

Your time, come talk if you need it I'll give advice hoping you heed it

But in the end it's up to you You will find your true friends to be few

And at times you will stumble on new Ones

Your teenage days can be fun But don't forget I'm in your corner

Reminding you of your former Self, the child, bright eyed and full of wonder

The carefree child who wasn't under So much stress

I wish for less Attitude but we all go through that stage

Full of anger and rage Because that boy or girl doesn't like us

Feeling like we can't trust Our friends

Because everything ends In drama

But I am your mama And I love you through it all

I'm here when your back's against the wall

And when you fall I'll be here to pick you up

To show you that you can make it through the tough

Days, with me by your side And to show you don't have to hide

Who you are.

The End.

MSIA | John-Roger How to have Awareness of God - Duration: 2:10.

How can I come into awareness of being at one with God?

-That's it. -God is awareness.

So the more we become aware of everything around us,

and especially that that is around inside of us

from about the chin, down to the pubic bone,

it's on all human beings.

You will then find the generalized

vibrational section it's called the kingdom of heaven, which is within,

that Jesus the Lord referred to in the bible.

So awareness is like, if you're coming to an intersection,

and you know there's a red light and a green light there,

you don't just start walking across the road,

until you look to see which way the cars are going.

That's part of being aware,

and you take that idea and you put it inside of you,

and watch the food you eat, the way you think,

the thoughts that you hold in your mind as you eat,

how you want that nutrition to go into your body,

how the vibration of Spirit is to utilize it.

And basically, be loving towards that that you are doing, and towards yourself.

You will be in the presence of God after you've done that.

So that you may not have an awareness of God.

It's hard to separate yourself out from God, because God is omnipotent,

omniscient,

omnipresent.

It's hard to find yourself separate, and know something that is as big as God.

So one thing we do is, we can tell by

the altitude of our attitude and the loving that we have for all people.

As soon as we curse one, we've cursed ourself.

And so it's really best to say nothing, and produce loving.
