Hey welcome to Zach's Tech Turf.
Today on Weekly Download number 79 I'm gonna be playing some Assassin's Creed Origins
when I give you this news, I got my cup of coffee right here, make sure you guys let
me know what you're sippin on, let's get into it.
To start off the tech news, the biggest cryptocurrency hack occurred, yes, even more than the famous
Mt. Gox hack in 2014, and over 500 million US dollars worth of XEM coins were stolen.
XEM tokens, also referred to as NEM, New Economy Market, launched back in 2015 and the exchange's
president announced late last week that over 58 billion yen worth of tokens were stolen.
This won't affect cryptocurrencies as a whole nearly as much as Mt Gox did due to
how big the crypto market cap is at this point, but this is still a huge hack, as XEM has
the 10th highest market cap in all of cryptocurrencies.
Like I say pretty much every time I talk about crypto, you guys NEED to keep your keys on
an offline external wallet.
And in more crypto news, Samsung is apparently mass producing a chip that is specifically
designed to mine cryptocurrencies.
They created an ASIC chip last year and it is finally being mass produced right now.
ASIC miners are required for mining coins like BitCoin, but this doesn't change the
fact that some alt coins like Etherium mine much better with a GPU so this shouldn't
really affect these crazy graphics card prices.
This next piece I actually somehow forgot to mention last week, but it's cool enough
that I think it's worth a look.
AMD gave us some information last week about their Ryzen Raven Ridge desktop APU's.
These are the new Ryzen chips that will not included integrated graphics, which should
definitely make for some baller budget builds.
They revealed their new Ryzen 5 2400G which includes Vega 11 graphics, and their Ryzen
3 2200G with Vega 8 graphics.
That Vega 11 and Vega 8 simply mean how many graphics compute units that are on the chips.
These APUs will now also support up to DDR4 2933 MHz RAM outta the box and one of the
coolest parts at least in my opinion, these will still fit on those AM4 motherboards that
you already bought for Ryzen 1 CPUs.
Razer's new "quote" professional grade" microphone is now available, the Seiren Elite.
The original Seiren came out a few years ago now at this point, but the Elite version apparently
gives a much more professional grade sound quality with a more warmer vocal tone.
It has a built in headphone amp, a high pass filter to remove those low-frequency vibration
like a celing fan above you, and a limiter.
The microphone is available now on both the Razer website and on Amazon.
Moving on to the PC gaming news, BioWare's online shooter Anthem has officially been
quote "delayed" until next year.
The reason why I say quote "delay" is because I personally have a hard time believing
that companies THAT big incorrectly predict project releases by that much, if it was by
even a month or two I would understand, but by delaying at least a full year that clearly
indicates that they were just trying to build some hype early and often, but that's just
my opinion.
And actually we got an update after I wrote that, BioWare just stated on Wednesday that
it's actually not a delay as they would rather release anthem during a quieter quarter
and not the same quarter as their new Battlefield game.
Yea that's why I kept my original part in there, good job EA.
Last week I announced the amazing Humble Bundle Monthly subscription, where you could get
Civilization 6 for just 12 bucks, and this week I would feel bad if I didn't tell you
guys about the newest Rockstar bundle.
This is another pretty insane Humble Bundle that's packing some classic GTA games, Bully,
the Max Payne series, LA Noire.
I would definitely snag this up if you're a fan of these games because you'll probably
never find a deal this good.
Epic Games announced that they are shutting down their unique Multiplayer Online Battle
Arena Paragon.
Paragon originally launched on PC and PS4 into early access, but it's now shutting
down before the game was even fully released.
Epic Games said it was a tough decision to make but there just weren't enough people
interested in the game to keep it sustainable, plus Epic Games probably wants to pour their
resources into Fortnite because of how incredibly successful that game has been.
The very cool thing about this is that if you poured any money into Paragon, you can
request a full refund.
And to wrap up the PC gaming news, Destiny 2 rolled out another somewhat important patch
this week, and this update brings in the new Masterwork Armor, Raid Gear perks, the Iron
Banner, and a bunch of small fixes.
You guys can let me know if you don't wanna hear about the Destiny 2 news anymore, I'm
still having a ton of fun with this game and I would love to play it with you guys.
