The recent story and gameplay trailers for the next entry in the Mortal Kombat series
have been out for about a week now, we know of a few new and returning kombatants so I
figured now was a good time to release this video.
Like any MK fan, I'm itching to see some of my favorites return for MK 11.
Some of these will probably be on other people's lists, while a couple may surprise you.
Let's get into the list.
#11
Frost
Although Sub-Zero's female apprentice made a cameo in the story mode for Mortal Kombat
X, she was absent from the actual roster.
Since her debut back in Deadly Alliance, she's been one of my favorite characters.
Ok, in general I have a thing for cryomancers and it was cool seeing Sub-Zero take on a
student.
With Scorpion having his apprentice in MKX, it was disappointing not to see Frost.
Get some student vs student rivalry action going.
Maybe that could be a reality in MK 11.
Just don't screw her up like Sonya and Skarlet.
#10
Noob Saibot
When I was a kid, black was synonymous with COOL.
The Black Power Rangers, Sting, Shadow Master, you name it.
If they sported all-black, they were awesome in my mind.
Which of course goes for Noob, the older brother to Sub-Zero who first appeared and died during
the events of MK 1.
Later returning as Noob in other entries.
He has some of the coolest moves and Fatalities in the series and ever since he was so kryptically
alluded to in MKX by Sareena, I've been DYING to know what his fate was after MK 9's
story.
With Raiden's time-travel abuse coming back to bite him in the ass, it's possible we
could see Noob even if he were somehow dead or had become human again.
Fingers crossed we also get the Booster Gold to his Blue Beetle, Smoke, as well.
#9
Jade
Jade was also absent from MKX due to her death.
But again, with time travel on the table there's no logical reason to prevent this dark-skinned
beauty from beating people's asses with her pole.
Ok, that…sounded bad.
But you get my point.
Seeing Jade confront corrupted Katana could also be a story point in bringing the latter
back to the side of justice.
Time will tell.
#8
Chameleon/Khameleon
Ok, so he might not be everyone's favorite ninja (heck, he's not even mine).
In fact, I think most MK fans have forgotten he existed, which could be considered ironic
given his vague backstory.
Chameleon is a Saurian, like Reptile, yet this has never been elaborated on and the
two have seemingly never met.
Again, not too surprising since Chameleon has remained hidden from MK1 forward, but
you'd think during the final battle…ah well.
The characters might be too busy with their time travel mess and evil Raiden to have Reptile
meet Chameleon, but I'd still love to see him and his female counterpart return, get
expanded stories, and maybe new designs.
Call me crazy.
#7
Fujin
This poor god.
He just can't get any love or recognition.
Originally the replacement protector of Earthrealm after Raiden quit, you'd think Fujin would
play a larger role in the MK storyline.
Except, much like DBZ walked back plans to have Gohan be the new protagonist, MK had
Raiden return and make Fujin irrelevant.
He can't even get a cool design.
With Raiden being all edgy and evil now, this is the PERFECT time for Netherrealms to DO
something with Fujin.
Chances are he is not gonna be the main hero of the story mode, but…please bring him
back, give him a cool design, and just give him some god damn respect for once, ok?
#6
Reiko
Hell yes, my goth boy.
Reiko was essentially my 'main' back in the MK4 days before I even knew what that
term meant.
I don't know what drew me to him, whether it be those cold blue eyes, the black markings
on his face, or his maroon-colored ninja outfit, but he was awesome.
Reiko was a general for Shao Kahn and some of his endings even referenced his desire
to be Shao Kahn or take his place.
I think one theory almost had Reiko actually being a young Shao Kahn or clone or just him
in general, I don't know.
He's technically deceased as of MKX's comic book, but there's nothing holding
him back from appearing in this new game.
Maybe give him less of a Shao Kahn-inspired design and return him to his somewhat ninja
garb from MK4, just with more bells and whistled.
#5
Sareena
I really dug the design MKX gave Sareena and again, much like Noob Saibot, I'd love to
see her return to action.
It's a crime she was only a cameo in MKX.
I also don't feel like she's been given enough attention in terms of story or lore,
so I think that could be expanded if she had a more prominent role, but I doubt that will
be done.
#4
Monster
Ok, yes, this is a strange entry.
Monster first appeared in the Konquest Mode for Deception and was, supposedly, the TRUE
champion of the Elder Gods.
Shujinko defeats him and we never hear from him again.
But it is said that he was extremely powerful.
I think it would be really cool to take this nobody character and actually make him playable.
He has a sick design, and given that it was originally meant to be a 'knight' costume
for Scorpion, I feel like you could do a lot with that.
Gameplay-wise.
We don't exactly have a 'knight' character in the franchise right now, I don't think.
Anyway, yeah, Monster as a playable character.
Oh, but uh…give him a name.
#3
Hydro
We've got an ice ninja, fire ninja, lizard ninja, blood ninja, why not a water ninja?
And for that honor I recommend Hydro, from the Mortal Kombat comics Blood & Thunder.
A friend of Sub-Zero's and a fellow Lin Kuei, it's not a stretch to reimagine him
as one of younger Sub-Zero's new recruits.
Or if you bring back Noob, one of Bi-Han's associates.
You would need to really differentiate Hydro from Sub-Zero given both of their uses of
blue, but I think he would make an interesting character.
Fun fact: he was in the live-action series Legacy as a cyborg.
And finally #2 and #1 are
Wynd and Rayne.
Oh, what's that?
You have no idea who I'm talking about?
You probably haven't read the Rayden and Kano comic book from ages ago, then.
Don't worry, honestly I haven't either, but I've done my research.
Wynd and Rayne are twin sisters who serve Raiden.
I stumbled across their wiki entry months ago and fell in love with their designs.
They're tall, muscular and gorgeous.
I'm not aware of them having any abilities, but I imagine their powers would be largely
wind and water based, going off their names.
Plot-wise I suppose they could now serve Dark Raiden and are enemies of the good guys or
perhaps they too seek to stop Raiden now that's he gone bad.
I'll leave that up to the storytellers as I have no idea, haha.
And those are 11 characters I'd like to see in Mortal Kombat 11.
What did you think of my list?
Any surprises?
Comment on mine below and share yours as well.
Thanks for watching and take care!
