7 Extreme Vehicles You've Never Heard Of - Duration: 10:03.When innovation and creativity combine you end up with some extreme vehicles you knew
never existed.
Built to usually serve a function many of these often home created machines are actually
able to be bought.
So buckle up as we count down 7 extreme vehicles you've never heard of.
Number seven, the Tank Chair.
This vehicle is exactly as it's named a chair or wheelchair built like a tank.
Designed by Brad Soden this vehicle came about after a car accident left his wife paralyzed
from the waist down.
Devastated she'd never be able to go camping again Brad built this chair for her to enjoy
the great outdoors.
With no engineering degree and just a bucket load of determination Brad created this solution
for his wife.
The tank chair is able to be driven through shallow amounts of water, can tackle snow
and mud but is most often used by people not looking for a joyride but people with disabilities
often military veterans looking to regain mobility freedom.
Number six, Wokart.
This smooth red watercraft is fast and agile yet maintains stability from its catamaran
style layout.
Having the world's first mid mounted outboard engine this craft has a low center of gravity
preventing it from tipping.
Offering class leading high speed 90 degree turns the wokart is fun and exciting to drive.
70 hp motor delivers about 40 knots on the water or about 46 mph or 74 km/h.
Their design absorbs shocks of the waves so you don't wake up the next day with a sore
back.
The wokart has just gone into production and have a 2 seat version in the design phase
as well.
Number five the MTT136.
This extreme vehicle is a jack of all traits.
Able to climb and power its way through rock, sand, mud, and snow this electric vehicle
operates as an electric dog sled, can pull cargo and people with ease.
Perfect at hauling lumber, pulling a log, or transporting any payload in or out of remote
places the MTT136 can also be used as a super powered snow plow.
Imbedded on the side is a 110 volt plug, perfect for using your electric power tools in remote
places or if you need to cook or plug in a heater.
A cooler in the side can transport groceries and keep them cool.
The MTT136 fits into the back of a larger vehicle like a van and weighs 280 lbs or 127
kg.
This thing rips through the snow has multiple different variations if you just want to use
it to joyride with.
Number four, water motorbike.
A dream of Australian motorbike stunt rider Robbie Maddison this vehicle is a normal motorbike
outfitted with skis and paddle wheel tire which allows it to glide across the water.
Robbie envisioned riding one of the biggest waves out there off the coast of Tahiti.
To make this vision a reality they first built the bike and tested it in a calm lagoon.
After the the first test the 300cc dirt bike sank into the water and took 8 hours to clean
it out and get it ready for the next try to ride it across the water.
The next attempt Robbie successfully rode the bike across the water from one part of
the lagoon to the other side.
Next up he rode from the land to a floating barge at sea.
Stoked his dream of riding a wave with a dirtbike was possible Robbie's first attempt riding
a wave ended up with him too far in front of the wave causing the bike to sink to the
ocean floor.
5 hours of work later the bike was ready to go and the next attempt he rode his first
wave, showing it was possible.
The next wave a bigger one Robbie controlled perfectly dodging surfers and turning heads.
After that the team prepared the bike to ride a river.
After flying over the handlebars on the first attempt they nailed the full shot during the
2nd take.
Having all their shots complete except the true big wave they were looking for, a few
days later massive swells stirred up 15 foot waves.
Robbie attempted it but the wave nearly claimed his life.
The ocean swallowed his bike and wave after wave afterwards kept him from escaping.
After a break in the waves Robbie and all the film crew escaped alive and didn't test
their luck with another big wave.
Number three flyboard Air.
Have you ever wanted to fly like green goblin?
Well today that is possible with this new invention.
With a demonstrated top speed of 93 mph or 140 kh/m the creators believe it can go up
to 125 mph or 200 km/h.
Tested up to an altitude of 500 feet or 150 meters, flyboard claims it can go as high
as 10000 feet or 3000 meters but the rider would need an oxygen tank at those heights.
Anyone 220 lbs or 100 kg or less can fly on this device for up to 10 minutes thanks to
a backpack full of kerosene.
To be able to fly around as the green goblin or hobgoblin if he's more your style 4 turbo
engines on board can push 250 horsepower each that's a lot of horses.
To keep the flyboard stabilized they spent 2 years working on the algorithms that work
in conjunction with 2 jets on the sides of the flyboard.
Working almost with the same idea as how a drone stays stable the flyboard will react
to the rider shifting their weight to keep the board steady.
Each of the engines will actually individually adjust their angle and work in conjunction
with all the rest of the engines which is why it took so much work to get it right.
The flyboard air requires one to spent 50 to 100 hours in the water with their original
flyboard product that gets its thrust from a attached seadoo.
A handful of safety features such as quick release boots incase of an emergency water
landing, triple redundant flight controls, independent engine fuel supplies and safe
landing if one of the engines goes out are all worked into this product.
Not only is it still able to fly with 1 engine out, if 2 engines go out it'll make an immediate
slow descent to the ground.
With such an unique invention comes opportunities to use such a device you might not expect.
Besides being used by Spiderman's villains, the flyboard could be used in different military
applications by first responders, rescue personal, in industrial applications like inspection
or security and for entertainment purposes.
Number two, NASA's Mars Rover.
Design and built by a team of custom car builders at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex
this vehicle created by NASA is their newly designed Mars Rover.
NASA currently has sent 4 rovers to Mars but this one won't be, it is merely a prototype
to work out some ideas.
Mock life support, communication systems, navigation are all on board this 28 foot or
8.5 meter long, 5000 lbs or 2200 kg vehicle.
Having a body made of carbon fiber and aluminum the wheels are spherical and able to flex
over rocks of different sizes.
This design by Parker Brother concepts a company that creates vehicles for movies and tv shows
is powered by an electric drivetrain that tops out at 70 mph or 112 km/h on earth this
works out to be only 15 mph or 24 km/h on Mars.
Number one the Jet Blade.
Engineering graduates of Calvin College in Michigan created this watercraft
This invention is a like a seadoo with skis.
These 3 skis keep this craft above the water once it gets up to speed.Having skis makes
it easy to get onto from the water as the craft will sink down to the level of the hull
when not in motion.
The two front skis are connected to a single suspension system which can rotate forwards
backwards as well as side to side.
The rear large ski keeps the jet blade stable, a 650cc 50 hp engine ignites the waterjet
that makes this thing move.
This one of a kind invention while looking a little boxy and could probably benefit from
a aesthetic design overhaul is practical and effective in the water.
Do you want to take a ride of any of these vehicles, share your thoughts in the comments
down below.
