Hi everyone it's Lily and today I'm
going to be doing great TBR for the
Tome Topple Readathon round 3. So
the Tome Topple readathon was created by Sam
from ThoughtsOnTomes, I will link her
announcement video with all of the
information if you would like to know
more. But essentially it is a readathon that is
over two weeks so it's going from
midnight on the 7th of april in your
time zone to the twentieth of april at
eleven fifty-nine in your time zone also.
The aim of this readathon is to read
books are over 500 pages, and just get
through some of those tomes that a lot of
us find really intimidating. There are
some challenges but they're very relaxed
challenges. I will be doing most of them
bar one just because of the way it works.
And what books I have available to me. I've
always wanted to participate in this
readathon but the timing has just never
worked out very well, so I'm really
excited to be able to participate this
time. There are only really two books that I
want to get through throughout these two
weeks and I do want to do most of the
challenges, the only one I won't be doing
is reading a graphic novel over 500
pages because I just don't own one and I
don't see the point in getting one just
for the readathon. There's not one I'm
really really interested in, so yeah I
just won't be doing that one. I'll go
through the other challenges with the
two books that I'm talking about today
though because they fit into them it's
just easier to talk about them as i go.
So the first book that I want to read for this
readathon I've actually had on my shelf
for two years which is not the longest
but one of the longest books that i've had
on my shelf for. And I actually was going
to buddy read this with some friends in
April anyway, because i'm on easter break
and I have a little bit more time to read
and I just really want to read it
because everyone raves about it. And I've
been told buddy reading this was
a good idea and I thought it would
motivate me to read it a bit more because buddy
reads tend to work out really well for
me for big books and that book is The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. So
this is the first book in the Mistborn
trilogy and then larger the Mistborn
world. This is over 650 pages which is
very big, it's an adult high fantasy
which is also very intimidating. But I'm
really excited to read this because like
everyones loves Brandon Sanderson so. I think
this is about a heist and I know that it is
set in a world where some people can
ingest metals and then they get powers
from that, which i think is really really
cool. I've heard his world building is
amazing and yeah I'm just really excited
to read this. So this fits into the
challenges of 'read an adult book', 'read a
book that is part of a series', and to buddy read a
book as I'll be buddy reading this with two
friends over on Twitter, Annalise and
Nazima, and I'm really excited to just get
into this and see what it's like. And
then the other book that I'm really
gonna be focusing on throughout the two weeks
is The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman.
So this is the third book in the His Dark
Materials series. I read The Subtle Knife
really recently and really enjoyed it. I
just really want to finish this series
and I thought that this was the perfect
excuse because this book is over 500 pages. I
thought it would really motivate me to finish
it. I'm sure you guys all know what this
book is about, this is actually my first
time ever reading the series. It just
bypassed me as a child, I just never got
to it, and I do really enjoy it. I think i
would probably have enjoyed it more
if i had read at a younger age but i'm
still enjoying the ride. And i'm really
looking forward to seeing where it's
going to go. This also works out really
well because there is a new book in this
world coming out october which is really
exciting. So hopefully this book will
work for the challenge to read more than
one book over the course of the two
weeks, hopefully i'll finish this and The
Final Empire, and also to read a book
that is part of a series. I'm also
currently listening to Order of the Phoenix
on audiobook and i'm so slow at reading
audiobooks. I'll try and make
reading Order of the Phoenix on audiobook
more of a priority over those two weeks.
I've been reading it since like the end of February,
it's now like the end of march and i am
only halfway through. So it's like a
thirty hour audiobook, so i will be trying
to listen to that as well. That book is like 900
pages so yeah. We know how long that book is so
yeah. I'm really excited though it's my
first time ever rereading it, and there's so much I'd
forgotten which is really cool. So those
three are going to be my main focus for
those two weeks. I will also just
mention here, I don't know if this is against
the rules or not, but I will probably be
reading other books alongside those books
that are a lot shorter. I have like a
little pile of books that are under 300
pages. I don't really own any graphic
novels, but I figure like reading just
short little books throughout the two
weeks will kind of help me, you know,
trudge through the other books, not that
hopefully they will be a trudge but I
always feel a bit disheartened when it's taking me
a really long time to finish a book so, if I
am hopefully reading those little books
and finishing them, i'll feel a lot better
about reading the bigger books. And I
tend to just read multiple books anyway,
so I think that that works out really
well. Also because these two books are
not very diverse I would like to read
some little diverse books and then I
don't feel too bad for not reading
diverse books for like a whole two weeks.
So yeah guys that is my tome topple TBR,
let me know if you are participating in
the read-a-thon, let me know of some
recommendations for big books I would
love to know. I am slowly getting over my
fear of them so I'd really like some
recommendations if you guys have any. Hope
you're all having
a lovely day and I'll see you soon in
another video. Bye!
