Waching daily Feb 5 2018

Hi everybody! This is Lara

and long time no see.... hehe

Today I'm going to film the apartment tour video

I'm in front of my house door

which is this!

Well last time I filmed a video about showing you the realistic Korean house

But that apartment was for one person

and that was my friend's house

if you guys come to Korea and decide to live in a house,

You'll be living in a house just like that video!

but this time I'm going to show you my real house

that I live with my family

In Korea, an apartment is a very tall building

Apartment = Ah Pa Tu (아파트)

and also lots of Korean families are living in apartments

that's very common

so let me show you the very typical Korean family house

But before we start,

I just want to let you know that this is my home-wear!

I bought this like.... 10 years ago?

I'm wearing this kind of pants

It's very.....

fluffy? soft? and very thick

like a zebra ;P

(Let's get started!)

so the first place that I want to show you is,

신발장 (Shoes place)

so when you come in

You should get off your shoes here

You can not wear the shoes inside

So from here, you'll be bare foot like me

or you will wear slippers like this

You can never wear shoes inside of Korean house

So you should put your shoes here!

For next, there is a bathroom right next to the house door

Just like other Korean apartments

I think it's a very typical structure

Lots of my friends have bathrooms right next to the main door

This is my room and it's pretty messy as you can see

Firstly there's a computer that I play games a lot

As you can see here, there's the overwatch headphone

and right next to it, there are cosmetics

this is a place I do my makeup

All of these are cosmetics

as you can see, it's pretty messy

But there's some orders that only I know!

and behind of it, there's a bad

Next place is the living room

It's the living room

Nothing special...

So we sit here, and watch TV

That's all......

but there's one thing that I want to tell you!

this is so cool

Do you have any idea what this is?

so, if I want to turn on the TV without clicking the remote control

I only have to say "Turn on the TV"

to this one! Let me show you

Giga Genie?

Turn on the TV!

Turning on the TV

Tada~

Giga Genie?

Yes!

Turn off the TV

Turning off the TV

Amazing!!

Right next to the living room, there's the kitchen

Well it's the kitchen, so you cook here and you eat food here

I don't think there's special things to show you here?

Oh maybe one thing!

Do you guys have any idea why we have

One, and two refrigerators?

so this one is the main refrigerator

so if you open this

there's food that we're now eating

But this one is called, "Kimchi fridger"

So it's a fridger designed for Kimchi only

if you open this

there are kimchies

all these even beneath here are all kimchi

because we are Koreans!

This time this is the second room

It's my sister's room!

My sister's not living in this house

She's living in Seoul, working in Starbucks

So there's one thing I really want to show you

which I really like

It's this curtain!

Tada~ it's so pretty!

On this curtain, there are some.... Star pinched marks?!?

so the lights are coming through here

So it's really pretty!

and next to my sister's room, now I'm in my parent's room

There's just one giant bed of my parent

and in there, there's a toilet for my parent

and here's my mom's cosmetic table

Well I think that was all

so for me, there's nothing special about this house

It's just a very typical Korean apartment

If I go to my cousin's house, my friend's house

They are all living in a house like this!

But there must be some interesting things for you guys

so I filmed a video

Hope you guys enjoyed my video

and did you guys liked my home-wear? hehe

This is so embarrassing, but well

since I was filming an apartment tour video,

I wanted to be very real!

Anyway I'm getting really many messages from you guys

telling me that you liked my videos

and that makes me so happy!!

Thank you for watching my video!

and hopefully see you next time :P

Bye~

Hookie Episode 3 – Questions + Answers - Duration: 9:30.

Hookie Episode 3, Welcome!

You always send us many questions about how we entered TÜV/MOT modifications

which battery we use and where we get our inspiration for our builds

that's why we figured out a faq would be a pretty

good idea so we have organized this into these topics

I wish you much fun with the following clips.

How much you have to spend and how much can you spend?

This always depends on the customer. I think a build

starts with us from 10,000 to 11,000 euros. now many will say

rather a complete custom build or a parts conversion?

That's also a good question david. that's always depends

on the motorcycle. for example a complete tank or a

complete tail, so the whole design should be changed then it is

of course not as complex as a complete custom build where the engine gets repaired

where the frame must be powdered, etc.

but basically the cost of a complete custom build is relatively simultaneously to every motorcycle.

That's why you can say a

complete custom build with engine repair starts from 17,000 to

18,000 euros. I'm talking now synonymous of motorcycles with a large cubic per inch like 650 cubic

and upwards. everything thats below you have to look

in personal conversation what that budget is by yourself. if you

want much and I know many want much and want a

completely different motorcycle that is very expensive and that costs

accordingly budget

Can you describe the process from receipt of the order to completion?

It usually starts that we get an e-mail from our

future customers or a phonecall or a visit

this starts with a very personal conversation so whether

the respective already have special ideas off his motorcycle how it should look in the end

or just bring a reference for example motorcycle what we

already build. We will determine this together in the first meeting

because it is also very quickly determined how is the budget of the customer. what you would like to spend.

After the first conversation you usually get

an detailed offer from us. there is then in principle all listed what we

do at the build. after the bureaucracy is ticked off

it gets actually relatively quick to get the base bike. this takes

always two to four weeks to complete it until you find something suitable

and as soon as the base bike is arrived here it gets disassembled until

to the rolling chassis so engine, frame, wheels and fork stay in it

and then it goes over to the rough construction. rough construction always needs a month to two months until the

rough ideas sit until all components are made, rear modifications

frame modification are finished and after the rough construction the motorcycle is complete disassembled

to the last screw. the engine goes to the engine repairer

Carburettors get repaired internally here

parts that become painted go to the painter, powder coating, sand blasting etc.

that will take another month to

1 1/2 months until then all parts arrive back here in the workshop

and then the final montage starts - that's a lot of steps

there is a lot that can happen there too, so it's usually so that all parts we get

are not plug & play so you have to adjust a little bit.

sometimes you have to order another part there another

cable or build a cable itself, etc. that takes time again maybe

a maximum of four weeks and as soon as the motorcycle is final

of course you have to setup and than test ride. just when the engine is new you must do

a lot of experimenting and setupping.

this also take almost a month to complete and as soon as the motorcycle is ready it will

presented to the customer and delivered to indonesia or wherever.

What is your favourite Build so far?

my favorite build aesthetically is the

Black Mamba I prefer black motorcycles I prefer on the contrast

between black gloss and black matt this is my favorite from the aesthetics

in terms of performance, of course, it's my Sportster the tasmanian devil

So every motorcycle we have built so far is also my favorite

all are monochrome I believe that you can see in our

builds that we are not so in color so I mean the tasmanian

Devil is very colorful I would say with the red inscription and

in terms of performance I really like my Sportster the best.

Who are your references?

References, so if it means inspiration then they are very different

sources where I get my inspiration this is on the one hand typography

i'm art lover, music inspires me, my surroundings

the garage inspires me, especially my wife inspires me

christoph too david, niclas i think it is the daily environment that is

my reference. my daily drive to develop inspirations and get them

Where do you get the motivation to build each bike differently?

motivation, i take my motivation out of my

inspiration to build every bike differently I have many ideas for motorcycles

As I said I'm a designer actually and it`s a brainfuck 24/7

and that also means that I somehow need the output that's why it is for me

the best output to build the motorcycles. I think I could now

somehow still 20 to 25 concepts of motorcycles purely visually imagine me.

the drive behind that is just to

push myself in the builds and to try other things

to incorporate different stylistics

to try things out i think thats really the

motivation behind it.

Where do you see your Company in 5 or 10 Years? What are your goals for 2018?

so I'm working on a goal just because we have planned this year

to going to Sweden in the group. we all want that on a NX 650 base

we are just converting three machines at the moment. I have the feeling that I am furthest

because everyone else has bought quite a bit of rubbish.

But the goal is definitely to ride to Sweden this year

of course, we want you to be part of it

we will take many pictures, we will make a video, and we will write a blog about it and

want to let you experience the whole thing a bit.

nevertheless, we also want to go back to Italy for the wildays it was

a cool event last year and it is definitely on the plan.

Glemseck we have to see if it fits in time. to the question

where we see hookie in five to ten years, I think that's a very

good question we also have many ideas for that

of course it would be stupid if I already reveal the ideas but

I can say it remains exciting in any case we will stay with the motorcycles

but we will continue to develop the theme, I believe we are known for it.

we also try to leave new influences in the scene.

I'm curious if that works, I'm curious if you like it what we do

and I think that's also a goal.

there i see hookie in five to ten years

I would like to do what I am doing right now

to build motorcycles, to work in the team and to develop ideas as free

as possible as we are doing it right now.

How do you get the changes registered at the TÜV/MOT?

like any other, we also show our motorcycles to the examiner

He decides whether it is eligible or not eligible of course

we build our bikes so that we can not get any

problems with the decrease so I recommend each of the one who

build a motorcycle talk to th eexaminer before you start the build. we often get the question

"can we do something on the frame or can we register the loop

what is possible about modifications?"yes there is a law but

of course that also a bit in the judgment of the respective examiner.

That's why I advise always for personal agreement

before you even begin. in general I can say on

mainframe hands off!

Special Valentine's Day Messages for the Gainz Lovers - Duration: 2:02.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and if you have someone special

in your life who is working towards those gains, then a specialized

Valentine's Day message is just what you need. I have taken it upon myself to

brainstorm up a list of such messages. These work no matter the gender of your

partner, but also work for friends or even yourself. Just add "Happy Valentine's

Day" after each one.

I love everything about you, but especially your muscles.

I'd give you a hug but I don't think my arms could fit around your amazingly developed lats!

I'd spot you any day.

I love you more than I love carbs. And that's a lot.

Ooo. You could crush me with those thick thighs and I'd like it.

I'll check out your gains when nobody else will.

I bet every time you look in the mirror,

Your Body is a Wonderland starts playing in the background.

I didn't know what to get you for Valentine's Day.

Oh wait. Yes, I did. Protein. I got you protein.

You make my heart thump like doing back squats in sets of 12.

I'd rather do deadmills than live without you.

Whoo, damn. I love to watch you drop your squats.

Roses are red. Violets are blue. You could deadlift me, and probably squat me, too.

You're the protein to my shake and the bacon to my bacon.

You fit my macros.

I love you like a buffet after a training session.

Ooo. Who cares about body fat percentage with a booty like yours

Not me.

I'll always think of you and only you when I'm doing hip thrusts.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Bipolar Disorder and Self Harm - Duration: 2:21.

What's up, y'all? It's Hannah.

Self-harm and bipolar disorder.

Self-harm is not a symptom of bipolar disorder, necessarily.

However, I think a lot of people, like myself,

who live with bipolar disorder, do struggle with self-harm.

Which, it's basically like taking your emotional pain out on your body -

which is something I talked about last week when it came to eating disorders.

So please subscribe to my YouTube channel and check that out.

I think it's really present when you're going through those bipolar symptoms or you're depressed

when you're very, very young.

I know, for me, it started towards the end of high school and went into college.

It was a way for me to physically see the pain that was going on inside.

And one thing that I want to be clear about is:

this was never intent for suicide.

This was never intent to get attention

In fact, nobody really knows about this.

No one's ever seen my scars.

And some of them are still there.

I use them as a reminder of where I've been,

my struggles.

That empowers me today.

And I know a lot of people have struggled with self-harm

that live with bipolar disorder, that live with anxiety and depression.

And I really want to hear your story, your experience, and your coping skills.

A couple of years ago, when I was learning about self-harm and really starting my blog,

I found this incredible movement, initiative, coping skill,

that is basically coloring instead of cutting.

Using a marker instead of a razor.

And all of these people, basically, when they get that feeling,

they designed something in the spot that they want to self-harm.

And I thought this was brilliant.

It's a way of taking your emotional pain out.

Not in a way that it can damage you, like I did.

But in a way that it creates art and makes you feel beautiful.

I really look forward to seeing what you have to say.

And I will see you next week.

Bye.

Why Are You Getting Sued When The Other Driver Was At Fault? – CA Injury Attorney Frank Nunes - Duration: 3:17.

You were hit by another driver who was clearly at fault and now you've been served with a

lawsuit by that driver.

Why are you getting sued when the other driver was at fault?

Hi, I'm Frank Nunes.

I'm a California personal injury trial attorney practicing in the state of California.

The situation that we just described is not that uncommon.

In fact it happens most often when the parties dispute who was careless or at fault for the

collision.

For example in a red light dispute.

One driver said, "I had the green light."

The other driver said, "No, I had the green light."

In that situation, the party who you know may not have had the green light or didn't

have the green light is suing you.

What do you do?

The first thing you do is you turn this over to your insurance company as quickly as possible.

As part of your insurance policy, they have an obligation to hire an attorney at their

expense to defend you.

They will defend you and they will handle the claim and deal with the other or the other

side's attorney in trying to get it resolved.

If you have your own set of losses, you had to go the hospital, you have medical bills,

you missed time from work, your car was damaged, that is the time when you want to tell the

attorney defending you that you want to make a cross complaint against the other driver.

Most of the time the attorney defending you that's hired by the insurance company, will

tell you he or she is ethically prohibited from defending and pursuing a claim for affirmative

relief or money from somebody in the same case.

At that point you need to consult with another attorney who can represent you in getting

compensated for the harms and losses caused by the other driver's carelessness.

That attorney will get involved, coordinate with the attorney hired by your insurance

company and the two of them will file a response and a cross complaint at the same time against

the party who is suing you and possibly others who can be responsible.

It's important that those two documents be filed together.

If you are sued, take a look around, examine what harms and losses you have from the careless

driver's actions and see if it's worth your while to make a cross complaint in addition

to having the lawsuit defended by you.

That's it for today's video on why you're getting sued by the at fault driver.

Find a Niche for Your Amazon Affiliate Site - 3 Easy Ways - Duration: 5:18.

I'm gonna go over three ways that you

could pick a niche now this is one of

the most common questions I get it will

be oriented around Amazon affiliate

sites that's just what I'm into so it is

the most common question that I get and

it can be confusing because basically if

you start looking around you see so many

different ideas so many different niches

and there's so many different products

so it could be overwhelming to figure

out what to focus on now I will say that

you don't have to follow your passion

exactly but it's nice if you have some

level of interest in the niche that you

pick so if all else is equal and you

have three different ideas you don't

care about two of them but one of them

you actually have some of the products

well you should probably pick the one

that you have some interest in because

it's just going to be easier to push

through the times when it's difficult

and it will get hard when you're

building a site when you're trying to do

link building when you're trying to add

more content it's going to be a little

difficult and it's great if you do have

some interest now again you don't have

to be obsessed with the topic or be an

expert in the niche but even if you have

like a mild amount of interest on an

intellectual level that's good enough so

let's get into the three ways that you

can find a niche idea the first one is

kind of a no-brainer but a lot of people

miss this go to Amazon and start

browsing around in different category

areas you'll find many many

subcategories and in fact if you just

head over to Amazon and click on like

sporting goods and outdoor equipment

you'll be able to find tons of products

probably some obscure niches that you

didn't even know existed yet that there

are thousands and thousands of products

available on Amazon so that's one of the

best ways to figure out just some niches

out there and again if you're interested

in some of these topics you can go down

a rabbit hole and find some really

interesting products and keywords that

are associated with the niche the second

way is a similar idea but it's in real

life so go down to a large like discount

store or just a retail shop so in the US

there are stores like Walmart Target and

even hardware stores like Home Depot or

Lowe's if you just are browsing and

looking at some of the products in the

various departments go in there people

will think you're crazy but go in there

with a notebook and start writing stuff

down or if you're a little more timid

you don't want to look like you're

taking notes you can just take notes on

your phone and just write down the

products and as you're walking down the

aisles you can just like read the labels

for the aisles the signs for the aisles

and you can see you know outdoor

products there's groceries although that

may not be the best sort of niche to go

after but you can you know look at the

different products that are available in

the grocery section or toys or whatever

right so there are hundreds of different

options if you just browse through a

store and if you're looking for specific

type products now one thing to keep in

mind you may walk down an aisle and see

I don't know like light bulbs or

something like that and it doesn't

necessarily mean you should start a

Mitch site on light bulbs but if you

think about a more I guess one category

level up so you're not looking at the

light bulb section and starting a niche

site on light bulbs but if you're

looking at the overall lighting section

well that's more interesting so lighting

solutions is a much bigger niche and

probably a lot of products around that

now if you pair that together with like

a smart home idea so you have lighting

and smart home well there's a lot of

products you can cover with that

probably enough for a whole niche site

and the third idea is to just browse

around Google some different sites maybe

go to a larger site like the wire cutter

or top ten reviews and start looking at

the products that they are reviewing

they will often have the categories

spelled out for you and then again you

could just browse around and see what

types of products what types of

categories they are targeting

the advantage with going and looking at

an existing site especially a large site

it's already making money you know that

niche is profitable you know people are

reading the reviews maybe even see how

many comments certain reviews have and

you'll have a really good idea if that

is a popular detriment so I hope that

was helpful if you want to get a

checklist of these ideas and a little

more detail for each one of them go to

niche site project comm slash 3 you'll

just have to enter your name and email

address and then you can download it

straight away

thanks again I'm Doug Huntington and

we'll see you in the next video oh yeah

do you have any ideas for finding niches

let me know in the comments below really

interested about what ideas you have

How to Open a Bank Account in China? (2018) - Duration: 6:29.

Be the creator, not the consumer. This is ANGUS. How to make a bank account in

China? Do you want to open a bank account in China? And do you know how to open

a bank account in China? If you want to and you do not know how to, this will be

the video. Well, before we move into how to section, first we will have a look why

do we need to have a bank account in China? The first reason is that there are

people they want to buy from 1688.com, Taobao.com or any other Chinese

online websites. And they have to pay the suppliers in Chinese currency. Because

the suppliers they do not accept any foreign currency so you have to have a

Chinese bank account to pay the suppliers if you want to pay them

yourself. okay? So this will be the first reason and the second reason is that if

you want to travel to China. You know if you are a traveler, it's not very

convenient for you to carry a lot of cash. That will be not very convenient.

If you have a bank account in China so you can deposit your money into the

account and you can withdraw the money when you're in China at any time you

want. So this will be the second reason and the third reason is that if you want

to pay the suppliers or transfer the money by Wechat or Alipay. You know that

Wechat now is called the Chinese version of whatsapp, right? So It will be

very convenient if you can pay the suppliers or transfer the money by

Wechat or Alipay. So it is necessary that you have a Chinese bank

account to bind with a WeChat account and the Alipay account. So this will be

the third reason. Those are the three reasons to have a Chinese bank account.

So why not? After we know why do we have a

back account in China. Now everyone want to have a bank account in China right? But

still people are very very concerning that will it be difficult. You know

Do I need to have a resident permit? or Do I need to open a company over there

or do I need to deposit a lot of money into the bank account? Actually, no. it

will not be that difficult if we are talking about a debit card, okay.

So if you want to have a credit card here, yes. it will be difficult but today

we will stay focused. we're talking about opening a Chinese

bank account and it will be a debit card okay. So now let's come to the second

part "how to section". How to open a bank account in China? Let's stay focused okay

Actually it will be very easy. Only three steps okay. The first step to choose a Bank.

The second step to prepare the material and the third step it will be you know

enable the online transfer service. let's come to the first part you know to

choose a bank. Which bank you need to choose. Actually this will be very easy.

Because now the International Bank service it's already very developed as

you know okay so I will just list a couple of them here, So you can choose them

of course you can also check in their English websites okay so the first

one it will be BOC-Bank of China the second one it will be CCB-China

Construction Bank and third one it will be CMB-China Merchants Bank and the

fourth one it will be ICBC-Industrial and Commercial Bank of China okay

those four banks you can choose them of course the most important factor is

that it will be it has to be convenient for you okay.

so you can do a little bit homework. You can check on the website there English

website or you can also check that nearby your living area if they have any

branches if we have the branches you can choose them so that it will be very

convenient for you to transfer the money. ok. so this will be the first step. The

second step it will also be very easy to prepare the material there are three

materials you may need to prepare. The first one your valid PASSPORT your valid

Passport okay the second one, some bank and not all of them, some bank they

may request a local phone number. You know when your first time to open a

bank account here, they need to have a phone number here to let you to receive

my name is Hamidi Reid welcome to success forever where we help

young people salespeople and entrepreneurs triple your results

in life and business if you need to instantly increase your sales

subscribe now today we're talking about how to sell your value not your pricing

need increase in value so the question is how much is your product or service

worth the problem is most sales people are pitching before ever identifying

your prospect problems and what's the only reason your prospects will ever buy

from you is to solve their problems if there's no problem there's no need if

there's no need there's no value understand your initial pitch is just to

identify who you are and what your product or service does that's just to

set yourself up for the qualification phase where you would investigate to

find their true problems and they need that you can fix so imagine yourself

stuck in a desert you have plenty of cash we have no water if I come with a

glass of water I can sell that to you for any amount of money in the world

simply because your need is so high but if you're in another land plentiful

of water you're not going to want to buy that glass of water from me for any

amount of money simply because you have no need no need no value so when I'm in

the presentation I'm trying to increase the need as much as possible because

that increases the value of my products and my service so what can we learn from

this understand you need to investigate first to find the problem and find the

need that your product or service can be the solution to their one problem ask

more questions than you have answers you're trying to investigate and find

out that you need and the one killer thing is you can get your prospect to

tell you how much your product or service is worth and if you firstly

identified the right need and secondly increased the need as much as possible

they'll often be willing to pay you much more than your initial price was

simply because you've increased it so much try this question for mr. prospect

if I could solve X for you in a timely manner how much would that be worth to

you the course of the next 12 months if you

have to put a number on it simply put the prospect is now thinking how much

money they can generate from your solution and that would often be much

more than you're charging so let us know how one of your products or service can

have a higher value or lower value depending on the different situation and

a prospect need leave it down in the comments we're giving away a free luxury

limited edition notebook and fountain pen for you to plan your way to success

How Did We Get Cupholders? | WheelHouse | Donut Media - Duration: 7:00.

- Cup holders, Americans love 'em.

We put them in everything from people carriers,

to street legal race cars.

My co-worker's Ford Explorer has 10 cup holders.

But that's nothing.

The new Volkswagen Atlas has 17 of them.

That's two and a half per passenger.

Surprisingly, cup holders are a relatively new innovation.

So where did they come from?

Who was the first person to put cup holders in a car?

What's the future hold for the humble cup holder?

I'm Nolan Sykes and this is Wheelhouse.

The first cars didn't have cup holders.

- [Bart] No (bleep)!

- People might be surprised to hear that, Bart.

I don't know.

They didn't have much of anything, really.

But I'm not sure you'd want to drink anything

driving around back then.

The roads were much rougher,

usually paved with gravel or just dirt.

Early suspensions didn't provide a smooth ride.

Driving a Model T was pretty labor intensive.

You didn't have time to focus on anything else.

Driving was its own activity,

separate from the rest of your life.

This was the attitude most drivers had

in both America and Europe.

That was until a culinary sensation

swept the U.S.in the early 1950's.

The drive-in diner.

It was a novel idea.

You drive up to the restaurant,

a nice gal rolls up to your car and takes your order,

and you eat your entire meal

without ever leaving your vehicle.

People loved it.

Drive-ins became community hubs especially for young people.

And if American Graffiti is accurate,

they'd hang out, talk trash and race their cars.

Sounds like a pretty good Saturday night.

Must be nice hanging out with other people.

The drive-in gave way to the drive through,

which made fast food even faster.

But that presented a problem.

Where do you put your drink?

A few inventions tried to solve this problem.

Drive-ins served food on carhop trays

which hung on your door.

But you couldn't take that with you.

Several patents were filed for in-car snack trays

that held on to your food and drink.

But those were still modifications you had to do yourself.

Automakers still hadn't thought of cup holders.

One of the first examples of OEM beverage stabilization

technology was in 1957 in the Cadillac Brougham limousine.

It had a little metal tray attached to the glove box

that held onto the included cocktail glasses.

It wasn't the same as the cup holder we know today,

but it was a step in the right direction.

So, who's responsible for the cup holder as we know it?

We don't really know.

Ford says that people used the floor tray as a cup holder

in the Econoline van as early as the 1960's.

Is that really a cup holder?

I don't really know.

What I do know is that the Dodge Caravan had

real cup holders in 1984.

It was the first car with cup holders as we know 'em.

The debate between Ford and Chrysler over

who came up with cup holders first

kinda comes down to semantics.

Like, what makes a cup holder a cup holder?

Whatever side you take, it's a fact that cup holders

became more and more popular from the mid-80's onward.

But some people were hesitant to embrace the growing trend.

By some people, I mean Europeans.

- Why would you want to drink anything

while you are driving?

You want to drink or eat?

Stop your car.

Enjoy the meal.

We get something. (laughs)

- This had become the prevailing attitude

of most European car companies from the 80's

through the mid-90's, and it makes sense.

Because on opposite sides of the Atlantic,

driving had become very different.

For example, every year the average American

drives nearly twice as far as the average Brit.

Why is this?

A couple reasons.

One, Britain has way better public transit.

And two, America's just big.

Take a look at this.

The state of California is bigger

than all of the United Kingdom.

And driving from L.A. to San Fran

is nearly the same distance

as driving from London to Glasgow.

In Europe, a hundred miles is a long way.

And in America, a hundred years is a long time.

The average American also drives 16 miles to work both ways.

Depending on where you live,

that could either take 15 minutes,

or in my case, an hour and a half.

I really need to move.

By comparison, the average Britain commutes about 10 miles.

And most of 'em do it by bus or train.

My point is, Americans spend more time in their car.

We also have less to do in 'em.

In Europe, most cars have a manual transmission.

But in the U.S., they're mostly automatics.

We don't worry about spilling coffee on ourselves

when we're shifting gears, 'cause we're not shifting gears.

Since we're not completely focused on operating the car,

we're free to find other things to fill our time.

And that's what European automakers were worried about.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Commission

doesn't track how many accidents are caused

by eating and drinking.

I'm talking coffee and soda, not booze.

So it's hard to say if their concerns were warranted.

However, in 1992, one case convinced car makers

to make cup holders standard.

You've probably heard of this case.

A woman named Stella Liebeck got a cup of coffee

from a fast food place and spilled it on herself,

and she got third degree burns.

I mean, she ended up getting skin grafts.

I only bring this up because, maybe,

this whole thing could've been avoided

if the car she was in, a 1992 Ford Probe, had cup holders.

This is when most U.S. automakers adopted the cup holder.

No automaker was involved in the lawsuit,

but what if it happens again and they did get sued?

It was better to play it safe.

But the Europeans still didn't quite get it.

It was only when U.S. dealers for Porsche and Mercedes

started losing sales because they didn't have cup holders.

They're like, guys, we need cup holders in our cars.

Like, how luxurious is a car if it can't hold my drink?

So, they gave it a chance.

But the Europeans weren't quite aware of

how much holder we Americans needed for our cups.

You know, I wore a medium sized cup in high school.

(quiet mumbled voices)

(phone rings)

(quiet mumbled voices)

(phone rings)

One Porsche engineer said that

Porsche team members in the U.S.

were sending cups of all shapes and sizes back to Germany.

- So many cups!

- To make sure that cup holders in the Cayenne

could handle anything we threw at them.

(banging)

So what's next?

Well, the world of cup holders is still growing.

We've got cup holder expanders for giant cups.

We've got cup holders for your French fries.

We've even got cup holders that hold onto your phone.

Automakers even make cup holders

that heat your drink up or keep it cold.

We're living in the future.

So next time you're in a car, take some time

to appreciate the unsung hero of automotive innovation.

Thank you, cup holders.
