Hello mates my name is Risk and welcome to the remake of The Witch's House

also known as "The Witch's House MV"

Now, I'm already gonna tell you guys I'm sorry

Cuz I've actually ended up recording a full episode of this

but the footage was not there it turns out that

Recording somehow midway got stopped

Even though the only way I'm able to record is by

Clicking on it with the mouse and stopping it with the mouse.

There is no hotkey, but somehow

something stopped it and I usually look

during the recording to see if it's still recording and it was.

I don't know what the hell it was. So The Witch's House

Have quite amazing things.

I had quite amazing reactions but of course

I can't use them. So I guess we're just gonna be jumping into this game

Also, I got this game for free

So the only reason I'm able to make this video for release

is because I got early access from the publishers

So thank you Dan for giving me early access. I appreciate that

And with that, I guess we're just jumping into the game

And also this game has new areas and new stuff

But only in the super Hard difficulty

the normal difficulty is normal game

so I'm not gonna go easy I'm just gonna play a normal

How does Cerenkov radiation work? - Duration: 9:49.

If you know absolutely anything about science- anything at all- you know that it's impossible

to go faster than the speed of light.

And that's pretty much true, although a little caution is required.

There are a few situations where it is actually possible to break that ultimate speed limit,

although if you think that this will lead to something like this-

- you'll be disappointed.

Sorry about that.

I made an entire video on the special cases, which you might want to look up.

In this video, I want to tell you about one of those special cases, but it'll be backwards.

Rather than having an object going near the speed of light and then speeding up, instead

I'm going to talk about a situation where an object is traveling at near the speed of

light and then we slow light down.

That's a bit of a cheat, of course, but it's still pretty interesting.

So let's talk about it.

When we talk about the speed of light, we really mean the speed of light in a vacuum.

When light encounters a transparent medium like glass, plastic, water, or even air, it

slows down.

You may have heard of this if you ever took an introductory physics class.

The phenomenon is called the index of refraction and we know that in glass and plastic, light

travels at about two thirds the speed that light travels in a vacuum.

In water, it's about three quarters.

And, in air, the speed is only a tiny, tiny, tiny bit slowed down.

So that's the trick.

Suppose you had a vacuum with a light beam in it with an electrically charged particle

like an electron or proton traveling alongside it at very nearly the speed of light, say

99.99% that speed or something.

The two of them would stay together pretty much, although the photon would slowly pull

ahead.

Now, suppose that we shoot the two of them into a huge tank of water.

If we did that, the electron would continue to travel at 99.99% the speed of light in

a vacuum, while the light beam would instantly slow down to 75% its normal speed.

In this situation, the electron would be traveling faster than light.

Boom.

Mind blown.

So, having a particle travel faster than light is already a kind of cool thing, but it actually

gets even better.

The first person to notice that a liquid surrounding a radioactive substance glowed blue was Marie

Curie, because, well, you know- Marie Curie.

She was totally the bomb.

But the person who typically gets the credit for the first observation of the phenomenon

is a Russian student by the name of Pavel Cerenkov.

He first saw it back in 1934.

Now, before I tell you about the physics, I'd like to talk a little bit about how

to spell his name.

Because he was Russian, the proper way is to use the Cyrillic symbols.

On the other hand, on the English-speaking internet, you typically see it spelled Cherenkov-

with the 'CH', since that's the sound that starts his name.

On the third hand, you'll almost never see it spelled that way in a physics book.

In a physics book, the name starts with just a C, not a CH.

And- occasionally- you'll see the name written with a C with this little accent symbol on

the top of it.

So, I don't know what a real linguist would tell you is the right way to transliterate

the Cyrillic, but I always say that, well, physics is everything.

From that, I conclude that the physics way is the right way.

And, from that, I can authoritatively tell you that you spell it with a C and no H or

accents.

Or not.

I'm a physicist, not a linguist.

What do I know?

So, let's move on.

When Cerenkov saw the blue light emanating from water surrounding a radioactive sample,

he told his advisor Sergey Vavilov.

Vavilov shared the observation with two of his colleagues, Igor Tamm and Ilya Frank,

and Tamm and Frank figured out what was going on.

It turns out that when an electrically charged particle moves through a dielectric medium

at a speed faster than light moves through that material, light is emitted, and that

light is called Cerenkov light.

Now the exact, detailed, mechanism whereby the light is emitted is quite complicated-

maybe I'll describe it in a future video- but basically it's created because the electric

field of the charged particle disrupts the electrons of distant atoms and those disruptions

cause even more disruptions to other atoms.

When you add up everything, Cerenkov light is emitted – but only if the charged particle

is traveling faster than light.

If light is emitted at a point, represented by this x here, it radiates from that point

in a sphere.

You can see how it works in this animation.

The sphere grows at the speed of light.

But the particle, which is represented by this red dot, is traveling faster than the

speed of light.

You can see that the dot moves away from the x faster than the sphere grows.

Now suppose light is emitted when the particle is at a different location.

That light will also leave the point in a sphere and the sphere will also grow.

This process can appear again and again and again, with a series of spheres.

The edges of the spheres line up, which you can see here.

And, of course, light isn't emitted just at these locations where the x's are marked.

The light is emitted everywhere along the path of the charged particle and the result

is a cone of light growing around the path taken by the charged particle and traveling

forward.

So those are the basics.

A charged particle, traveling faster than light in an appropriate material, results

in the particle and material combining to give off light.

That light tends to be from the purple and blue side of the spectrum.

I'll show you an example of that in a minute.

But scientists can use more information than the simple observation of blue light.

The shape of the cone tells you how fast the particle is going.

If it's going near the speed of light, then the cone is very fat.

But, if the particle is going much faster than light in the medium, then the cone is

very skinny.

Another thing scientists can exploit is the fact that some particles are created in the

transparent medium moving just faster than light and then, because of interactions with

the medium, they slow down below the speed of light.

That means the particle will emit Cerenkov light for a little while and then stop doing

so.

And that means that the light will not be a cone forever.

Instead, you'll see a gap between the two wave fronts.

Now what I've shown you here is in two dimensions, but, of course, it's a three-dimensional

thing.

The light comes out as a ring.

This particular feature is very useful in huge Cerenkov detectors.

For instance, the Super-Kamiokande experiment in Japan is a ginormous tank holding 50,000

tons of water.

It's a cylinder about 40 meters both in diameter and height.

That's about 130 feet for Americans.

In the Super-Kamiokande detector, or Super-K, as it's often called, neutrinos enter and

interact with the water.

The neutrinos convert into electrons or muons, which are charged particles that can emit

Cerenkov light.

That's basically how it works.

Some of the neutrinos that interact in the water are low enough energy that electrons

or muons don't travel very far- therefore the Cerenkov light makes rings inside the

detector.

Using the size of the rings and the time the light arrives at detectors throughout the

apparatus, scientists can figure out the energy and trajectory of the parent neutrino.

Really a very cool technique.

Cerenkov light is used for many purposes in particle physics experiments, but it's probably

mostly used in these big water neutrino detectors.

If you're interested in other applications, you can, of course, Google it.

Before I close, I want to share a very awesome video.

In this video, a nuclear reactor is surrounded by water and the reactor is turned off.

As the technicians turn the reactor on, it begins to emit countless charged particles

into the surrounding water.

And, as it does, you can see the Cerenkov light begin to be emitted.

It's one of my favorite videos.

SUBSTITUTION METHOD » how to solve systems of equations | Math Hacks - Duration: 7:34.

Hey there I have an awesome lesson for you today because today I am showing you how to solve systems of equations

using the substitution method

Today's lesson is part two

two in a three-part series on solving systems of equations

So if you are brand-new to systems of equations

I recommend you go watch part 1 first where I introduce what systems of equations are and if you've already watched that

You're ready for part two where we solve them using the substitution method. Let's get started

Whenever you are given a system of equations and asked to solve what that really means is that you have two or more

Equations and you need to find the intersection

point or points and the most common case you're going to run into is

Being given two linear equations and looking for their intersection point now there are three

Possible scenarios you can have with a system of linear equations most often

They are going to intersect in one point

although if they are parallel lines

They will never intersect and if they are really the same line

Then they are going to intersect in infinitely many points

If you'd like a recap of those scenarios and exactly what that looks like check out my tutorial on

systems of equations the graphing method

so today we are looking at the substitution method and in that method we want to

isolate a variable in one of these equations and then substitute that

Relationship into the other equation to begin with you always want to scan your equations and see if there's any nice

Variables to work with so if you see a variable that doesn't have a number coefficient written written in front

It is most likely the easiest

Variable to isolate. So in problem number one here. We have 2x plus y equals one and 3x plus 4y equals 14

I notice immediately that the Y in the first equation doesn't have a coefficient written in front of it

So that is the variable I want to isolate

After solving for y I get y equals 1 minus 2x

And now what I want to do here is take this relationship and substitute it in for y and the other equation

With that will give me is an equation

That only has X variables and once I have an equation with one variable I can solve for that variable

So here I have replaced Y in this equation

with what Y is equivalent to which is 1 minus 2x and

Now I have an equation with only X's in and my next step here is to solve for X

So I'm going to begin by distributing 4 through and then combining like terms and solving

Now that I know what X is I can go ahead and plug it back into this equation here to find y

Now we have discovered the X&Y

Coordinate where these two lines intersect and I'm just going to write my final answer as a coordinate point

In this second problem

I have negative 7x minus 2y equals negative 13 and X minus 2ax equals 11

So if I'm going to use the substitution method the easiest variable to isolate in this problem will be this X in the second equation

So my first step is to take this second equation and rearrange it so X is alone

Now that I have what X is equivalent to I can go ahead and plug it in for X in the other equation

So here I just replaced X with my equivalent relation, which is 2y plus 11 and notice here how when I

substituted this

Relationship in for X I made sure to put parentheses and that's a really important step

Because that ensures that this negative 7 is going to be distributed to both terms

Next I am going to distribute the negative 7 through combine like terms and solve for y

So here I get y equals negative four

and once again

my last step is to take that negative four and plug it back in for y the easiest place to plug it in is the

Relationship we have here where X is isolated. So I'm going to replace Y in the 2y plus 11 with negative 4

Okay, now I have my XY coordinate pair and of course the last step is to write that as an XY coordinate

So the place where these two lines intersect is at the coordinate point 3 negative 4

So in this final problem

We are going to approach it just like we did in the last two problems

now the only difference between this problem and the previous problems is that the numbers aren't quite as friendly there is

No variable that is lacking a coefficient like we had in the first two examples

so I'm just going to pick whichever variable I want to solve for and

I'm gonna make my decision based off of what looks like it will be the easiest

So in equation one, it's they're all multiples of two

So I think that those numbers will reduce a little bit easier than having numbers that aren't so compatible like in the second equation

And I'm just going to do that just because I want to avoid any fractions. Sometimes it's unavoidable

But here I think we can get around it

So I'm going to take the first equation and I could solve for either X or Y

And I think I'm going to solve for x

Okay there I have found my

relationship now that I know that X is equivalent to 3 y minus 3

I'm going to go ahead and replace X in the other equation

with 3 y minus 3

I have found that y equals two

And once again, my final step is to take that value and plug it into

This equation for y

And now that I know what x and y is just going to write the coordinate point

Shanghai - it's one of the world's wealthiest cities.

It's also considered to be one of China's most international cities and it's massive,

with a population of 24 million, that's about the size of Australia.

There's everything you can imagine here, swanky hotels, yachts and unique dining experiences.

I've come to see explore the luxury side of Shanghai to see the value of $30,000 in this city.

If you're looking for a highly spacious place to stay, there's this ultra-luxury suite at The Peninsula.

The price tag?

$22,000 per night.

But, hey, it includes rides in the hotel's Rolls Royce, too.

You can almost get lost in here, that's how big it is.

Despite how big it is there's only actually two bedrooms.

This one here is the master bedroom.

This suite even has its own meeting room.

There's a gym in here, too.

It might have its own gym but it doesn't have its own pool so if you want to go for a swim,

well, you'll have to go out to the hotel pool and swim with everyone else.

It has one of the most iconic views of Shanghai, which is overlooking The Bund.

The Bund is a waterfront area in central Shanghai,

a popular destination for tourists, featuring restaurants and nightlife.

But despite the hefty price tag per night, if you want to go for a ride on the hotel yacht,

that'll cost you an extra $2,000 for an hour.

But hey, it includes tea time.

The only Peninsula in the world to have its own yacht.

This can fit up to 10 people and is used for lunches, evening river cruises and corporate events.

This is the Kupulah. It's hosted the likes of Tom Cruise and Halle Berry.

While the main floor accommodates various group sizes,

the private room is the most intimate setting reserved for just two.

Guests here can order food from a number of different restaurants in the building.

Of course, a night on the Bund can vary drastically, but let's call it $900.

About 15 minutes away is this new hotel, The Middle House,

which shows off a different take on Shanghai's luxury hotel scene.

Combine an upscale Shanghai-style lunch which includes pork dumplings and fish

with a walking tour through some of the city's historic sights.

And the cost for two people?

$700.

I get a preview of what it entails.

Shanghai never stops changing. My kindergarten is a high-rise building.

I learn about how drastically Shanghai has been changing.

We come outside of those walls and all of a sudden I see a White Castle, a beer hall.
