It feels like the idea of choice is the biggest argument for free will, but is choice real
or is it just an idea in our heads?
If I look at my life I feel like I'm here through a series of single decisions and it
just kind of feels very linear and kind of on a track.
But I'm not so sure.
What do you think about it?

BILL NYE: So is there such a thing as free will?
The answer is clearly "it depends what you mean."
So I am so compelled by these tests where they have brain scans going on, working real
time, and then the subject is asked to make a choice.
And they can see on the brain scan that the choice has already been made before the person
is able to articulate it or even watch the choice had been made have it bounce back and
forth and then settle on another choice.
This is a wonderful question, but that there is no free will—that, to me, is an extraordinary
claim, because I feel that I have made choices – and this might be what you're driving
at—I feel that I have made choices freely based on things that have happened around
me, based on the environment and my experiences and my perception of the experiences of others.
So in other words if there really were absolutely no free will could you then predict what every
single person in the universe or on Earth is going to do and where he or she will end
up.
And then furthermore can that not be influenced by some cosmic force or forces that we can't
assess?
It could be.
It just doesn't seem reasonable.
I think much more reasonable is: our brains are complicated, and they got this big or
as big as they are organically through evolution, with layer being added upon layer.
So our ability to choose is often confused.
Our ability to make choices is often affected by the environment, by our experiences and
by biochemistry, the shape of our brain.
So I think the answer is clearly "some of each."

video um let's just say have a great
summer guys and pie assume you've
jammers however the title called the
one-take channel so this is a really fun
hen I'm pretty sure than the first
family to do this but this was inspired
by my cousin I'm a so huge shout out so
this challenge you can probably do is
for role plays and this is definitely
something that you may want to record so
before I get with a challenge I will
show you a demonstration of how to do
this one tape channel so if I leave you
let's get right to so the one type
challenge is where you do overall plate
but you have to choose these stuff and
once you chose these stuff by closing
your eyes and then the next thing that
you are gonna do is basically make a
role play out of it so right now this is
just a demonstration so I'm just gonna
open my eyes are for everything but you
definitely want to close your eyes for
this challenge so why does challenge you
are going to choose a fur color for your
role play by closing your eyes so let's
just say that I chose a random color
like say I have a cold yellow by closing
my eyes up I have no idea what the color
is no idea so have a yellow foot and
then an expert color I'm gonna do by
closing my eyes once again is another
yellow and there you go so you're
basically going to do this process
repeatedly so you have to close your
eyes choosing an eye color I'm a typical
stereotype I a pattern and then the
pattern color then have to close your
eyes doing all of the clothings so let's
say I have this pink top hat this purple
scarf and this like out spike wrist and
this bow and then last them at least
this clover tail aren't in so the next
thing you're going to do is do the same
thing for the patent search as a pet and
I chose cloudy plot
so you have to choose your pet by
closing eyes and Lego and yes language
but that's my look I'm gonna have to say
the look is pretty snazzy but there were
there's one step they forgot to do
before you actually do um customize your
animal you actually have to first choose
an animal and do those process so so
better guys if you want to do that right
now and start the process all over then
go ahead if you don't want to and just
do what I'm doing just gonna stick with
them and if we do let's just do just get
right but so for this one you are going
to choose a done by closing your eyes
and I only do have a few dents because
this is actually my new account that I
created and this is my last time calling
on I did create another account called
fuzzy paws and my public 452 accounts
membership has been start and then was
hacked
so offer they do let's just skip and
write it so for this on I'm gonna close
my eyes so let's just go red head and

and then the next thing that we are

through challenge and choose an animal
