HOW TO SIGN "DO YOU READ LIPS?" - Duration: 4:59.hiiiiiii
whatsup guys we just got off work...
again.. and it is 1:48
we were reading comments and saw
one comment that we're just gonna go ahead and answer now
emily martinez, she just commented on our vlog today
and she asked
"I was wondering if on the next vlog you could teach how to sign-
"Do you read lips"? and that would be helpful for me
if i do ever come across someone's who deaf or hard of hearing?"
so thanks amy!
and ryan's gonna answer your question
the sign for that would be
"can"
"you"
"read lips"
its that easy.
well if you can't really remember those signs,
i don't think its offensive if you do
(gesturing to mouth) can you read lips?
i don't think a deaf person would be offended
do you have people say that?
oh yeah yeah. i have a lot of people who don't know sign
and they just gesture to their mouths and ask me if i can read lips
and i say yeah.
and then they say oh perfect, and start talking.
what should you NOT do?
oh..
when you do ask, dont
ask very slowly
can...... you......read..... lips.....
E: people do that?
R: yeah
or or people would talk louder and louder
CAN YOU READ LIPS!!!
and im like whoa
what about people who enunciate
Cannn youuu read lips?
eh. don't don't do that. that's not good either
just talk normally
"can you read lips?"
some people might not understand the first time
that doesn't mean you should slow down or
just say it again. that's all
if you do word for word,
can
two fists
that's can
you
just point at the person
you
read lips
two fingers
its like youre reading lips
so, can you read lips
thank you everyone so much for leaving so many comments
and so many so many questions on our vlog today
and yesterday's. we're so excited to answer all of your questions
on monday. don't forget!

Keyword Searching 2B: Search Strategies - Duration: 4:10.Hi and welcome to the second half of our Search Strategies video.
In the first half of the video we saw that there are a lot of problems with fact that
the library catalog and databases are simply playing a matching game on our keywords.
One of those problems is that there are often different forms of the same words.
So, for example, the word 'meditation' has other forms such as 'meditating', 'meditate' and
'meditated'; 'home schooling' had different forms such as 'homeschool' and 'homeschooled'.
So, there is a way around this problem and that is to use the asterisk symbol (*) which
is often called "wildcard searching."
The way it works is that you want to look at all the different forms of the word and
identify what the common start to all those different forms is.
So, in our meditation example, all of those forms of the word start m-e-d-i-t-a-t.
Once you've identified that, you simply put an asterisk at the end. If you type this into
a database, it will consider it an exact match any time it finds a word that starts m-e-d-i-t-a-t.
The only thing you want to keep an eye on is that this doesn't work very well when the
root part of the word is really short.
So, for example, if you were doing research on wolves, you wouldn't want to type in w-o-l-*
because in addition to 'wolf' and 'wolves' you'd also get matches on words like wolverine,
wolfsbane, as well as places and people's names.
Another problem that we saw is that phrases often don't stay together.
Phrases are two or more words that, when put together, they take on a new meaning other
than their individual words.
So, for example, 'home' and 'school' are individual words on their own, with their own meanings;
put together you have 'home schooling' and that takes on a meaning all of its own.
In order to retain that meaning, you want to put things in quotes.
Any time you have two or more words that you want to stay together, put them in quotes.
That tells the database it needs to find those two or more words together and in that exact
order.
If it doesn't find then together and in that exact order, it will not consider it an exact
match.
Another problem we saw is that we have different words for the same thing.
So, for example, a search for 'meditation' didn't bring back a match on a similar word
like 'mindfulness'.
A search for 'college' would not find a match on the word 'university'.
Also, we sometimes have different ways of spelling the same word, so 'home schooling' can be
two words or one word.
There is a way around that and that is the search command OR.
To use OR you need to take a couple of steps.
The first step is to brainstorm different words for your idea or concept.
So, for example, 'meditation' could be 'mindfulness', 'college' : 'university', 'home schooling'
as two words and 'homeschooling' as one word.
You want to put the word OR between each one of your options and then a very important step: you
want to put parentheses around your group of options.
So that's identifying the group of options you're giving the database.
You're saying that you need to find a match on the word 'meditation' or the word 'mindfulness'--I
don't care which one as long as you find a match on or the other.
Same thing: 'college' or 'university' ; 'home schooling' two words vs. one word.
You can also go and take another step and add in that asterisk symbol or the quotation marks
anywhere you think is appropriate.
One last search command that's good to know about is the word AND.
And that's good to use when you're combining more than one idea for your topic.
So, for example, 'homeschooling AND college', 'meditation AND stress'.
All you need to do is put the word AND between the different ideas in your topic.
And those are some of the basic tips and tricks that can get you around some of the problems
for keyword searching.
If you have any questions about these search strategies, feel free to contact the Library.
We're always happy to help you out!

Keyword Searching 2A: Search Strategies - Duration: 5:28.Hi and welcome to this video on keyword searching search strategies.
Let's start with a quick recap of our Keywords Basics video.
You are keyword searching when you are typing in only the words that are most essential
to describe your topic, whether that be in an internet search engine like Google or
the library catalog or the library databases.
While Google is pretty liberal, the library catalog and the databases are not.
They are simply playing a matching game.
They are looking for an exact match on every word that you type into that search box.
If it doesn't find an exact match on every word, then an item won't show up in your search
results.
So, it's really important to pare down the words in your search box to just the ones
that are most important.
There is one minor exception and that is that most databases can handle simple plurals.
So, for example, if your keyword is the word 'person', obviously, it would find a match
on the word 'person'.
But it would also consider the word 'persons' to be an exact match as well ('persons'
plural with just an 's' added to the end).
What it cannot do is make the leap to plural words that are different words altogether.
So, for example, a keyword search on the word 'person' will not find a match on the word
'people'.
So keep that in mind as you're keyword searching.
Let's look at a few examples of this matching game in action.
The more you can think like a database, the better you'll be able to manipulate it and
have more successful searching.
Pause the video as you need to in order to read each screen and get the most out of
each exercise.
If you were to type in, as a keyword, the word 'tooth', looking at a), b) and c), which
one or ones of these options would be an exact match to a keyword search on the word 'tooth'.
Looking at examples a) and b), you can see that they both use the word 'tooth' so they
are exact matches and they will show up in your search results.
c), however, uses the word 'teeth', and that's too much of a different plural form of the
word 'tooth' for the database to consider it a match.
So c) will not show up in your search results.
Let's look at another example.
We'll go back to our meditation topic from the Keyword Basics video.
First, we need to decide what our keywords are.
Previously we decided that they were 'meditation' and the word 'stress'.
So, if we typed in these two keywords into the search box, now the database needs to
find a match on two words in order for something to show up in the search results.
So, looking at a), b) and c), which one or ones would be considered a match for this
keyword search?
Let's go through each one.
Looking at a), we can see that it uses the word 'mindfulness' instead of the word 'meditation'.
So it's a similar idea but obviously not an exact match.
It also uses the word 'stressors' and that's not an exact match for the word 'stress' either.
It's a different form of the word but it's too different a word for the database to consider
it a match.
Looking at b), we can see that it has an exact match on the word 'meditation' and 'stress'
so b) will show up in our search results.
Looking at c), we can see that there is a match on the word 'stress' but, again, we
see that it's used different forms of the word 'meditation'.
It uses 'meditating' and 'meditators'.
So, that would not be considered an exact match and since c) does not have an exact
match on both words it will not show up in our search results.
Let's look at one more example.
This time our topic is whether or not homeschooling affects someone's chances at college.
So first, we need to decide what our keywords would be.
The important ideas for this topic are home schooling and college, so those would be our
keywords.
Now we have a keyword search with three keywords and so the database would need to find a match
on all three words in order for something to show up in our search results.
So, looking at a), b) and c), which ones would actually come back as search results?
a) has a match on the words 'home', 'schooling' and 'college', so it would actually show up
in our search results.
There's a little problem with a), however, which is that it's not actually on our topic.
So it would not be of any help if we are doing a research paper on whether or not home schooling
affects someone's chances at college.
b) has a match on the word 'colleges' and the word 'home' but it uses a different form of
the word 'school' than we typed in.
So the database would not consider 'schooled' to be an exact match for the word 'schooling'.
so b) will not be in our search results.
Looking at c), there's a match on the word 'college' but they use the word 'homeschooling'
as one word; we typed it in as two words, so that would not be considered an exact match
either.
So, c) will also not show up in our search results.
So there are some problems with this matching game that the databases are playing
and I think it's one of the reasons that people get so frustrated using them.
Stay tuned for part B of our Search Strategies video and we'll learn the ways that you can
work around these problems with the databases.
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to stop by, call or email the Library.

Organic Broccoli Farm Tour (Grown At Long Meadow Ranch At Napa Valley) - Duration: 2:15.Welcoming You Warmly To Long Meadow Ranch Farm Tour where Broccoli are organically grown.
Long Meadow Ranch produces fruits vegetables
wine olive oil beef and organic eggs
today we're going to talk about broccoli
it takes about 85 days from the time
that we first plant the seeds until we
have a final proper broccoli the seeds
are germinating they grow until there
are three or four inches tall and then
we take those little pots and take them
outside that process is called hardening
and once they're hardened for a few days
to a week we can plant them in the
ground we farm sustainably we use and
reuse as much of the things that we
produce or add to our farming practice
as possible we avoid using synthetic
processes and synthetic compounds but
the real issue is making sure that all
of our plants and animals are extremely
healthy broccoli is short for word from
Italy called local oh it's very rich in
vitamin C and vitamin K the the vitamin
C helps prevent colds but it's a
terrific tasty and healthy vegetable our
favorite way to have broccoli simply
steam which is what our sons called
trees the tops of the broccoli look like
little pops of trees and everybody loves
to have the sweet soft paste of broccoli
with their dinner farming in app is very
special
it's almost like the Garden of Eden and
it's one of the reasons that people
chose to settle in the Napa Valley when
the settling first occurred here in
California fire kid I'd really like to
start farming again the easiest way to
do it is a little plot in the backyard
or in the schoolyard gives you the great
satisfaction of seeing something bro
understanding the way it does and then
having the chance to taste something
that's very special here in the Napa
Valley it's a great potential career
because we have such wonderful
conditions and so many people coming in
the Napa Valley they'd be happy to buy
your product

[ENG CC] Easy Natural Coral Makeup Tutorial - Duration: 6:03.Hi This is Suy
Today I am going to show you easy Coral Makeup look
I didn't focus on eyeliner and used sparkly glitters that looks glamorous but very soft
Let's get started!
My nose is stuffy I am getting over a cold :/
I really love this Multi Cell Energy Serum from Tony Moly
They are very moisturizing and hydrating it's the best as a primer
I recommend this for every body
I am using primer oil as I wanted to have very dewy and fresh skin look
Don't rub or massage the oil, I only dab it on my skin
Next, I am going to apply primer
It has pinky sheen to it that brightens up my skin
Also it definitely makes my makeup last longer
I am applying foundation that is very moisturizing and hydrating for dewy skin look
It has less coverage but it makes my skin look healthy and natural
I am going to apply enough lip balm to moisten my lips
I am using very light concealer to give a little bit more coverage
I am blending out from inside to outside of my face
I love this concealer because it is very hydrating and goes very well with any other foundation
that has less coverage
It never gets cakey especially on wrinkles so I love it
Since I used oil I am going to pat some pressed powder around my eyes
I always do this in order to prevent my eye makeup from smudging out
Next I am going to fill in my brows
This powder cake is awesome for natural brows
It is not so pigmented so that I can build it up
I have been loving this brow cake for a long time
Always brush at the end to blend it well
I am using this brow mascara that not only colors but also holds up my brows
To get more pigment on my brows from the mascara I am brushing brows opposite way hair grows
Brush again with clean spooly brush before it dries
Next I am going to apply eye primer
If you have oily eye lids I highly recommend using primer before you do eye makeup
Primer makes eye shadows more pigmented and last longer
I am using an eyeshadow which had very soft peachy coral shade
I am applying it all over my eye lid as a base
to give beautiful soft coral tone to my eyes
This is my holy grail eye shadow
I always recommend this eye shadow to anyone who is new to makeup
It has very pretty coral undertone and sparkly glitters
It looks like you are wearing two eye shadows
If you like sparkly glitters, this eye shadow is all for you!
I had it on my crease and inner corners of my eyes
This is especially pretty on Aegyosal
It has more orangey undertone which gives a beautiful color to the look
But it's a cream shadow so I suggest you put primer in advance
I had it on my Aegyosal and center of my eye lid
Today I am going to have very subtle eye liners
It has gold shimmer and dark khaki undertone
which goes well with coral shade
If your gel eyeliner is dry, try to get it out on your hands before you apply it
I am going to give some more definition on my inner corner of my eyes
I had it half of my tight lines and blend it out with cleaned brush
Next I am going to do mascara
I recently fall in love this mascara
It makes my lashes look a lot longer without clumps
and it has a very slim brush which is great for under lashes
I coated second time
Suddenly the sun was too bright omg......
This is my recent discovery
It is very easy to use and blends so well
I am going to contour my face but not too strong
It has pink gold shimmer
I am having it on the bridge of my nose, Cupid's bow, and chin
and of course on color bones as I am wearing off shoulder top :-)
Etude House Cookie Blusher have very pretty colors of blushers
but also they are very easy to use
I put it right under my eyes and had it a little more than I would normally do
to brighten up my face a little bit more
Next I am going to apply lip color
I am exfoliating my lips while removing lip balm that had earlier
It's better to use cotton pad or swabs rather than just tissues
I love this lip stain so much
It's a gel type that is very moisturizing
and stains my lips beautifully
Okay it completes the makeup look!
I am still getting over a cold
How have you been?
Drink a lot of water and have vitamin C to prevent colds!!
Take care and I will see you in my next video! bye!!!

Large Format 3D Printer Episode 10 - Actual Progress!!! - Duration: 4:00.whats up youtube it's patrick with Nolan C 3d
print works and we're back with episode
10 of the large-format 3d printer build
and as you can see just by this pile
of parts we ran into a few problems but
I'll get more into that as we move into
the video in the previous video we
resolve some of the top of the access
amount issues with that taking care of
it was really time to get this frame
bolted together started with the sides
and right from the beginning the frame
slot me I don't have a drill press and
the possibility of getting a hole
drilled moderately straight from one
side of the aluminum to the other well
it's about 5050 after having a machine
gun effect start to appear on my
aluminum and then I snapped a drill bit
i decided it was time to give the dremel
shot i install the router adapter but
left the set screw loose for the journal
could act like a drill press giving me a
bit better chance of shooting straight
holes from both sides of the tubing
as you can see the whole turned out much
better and less of that machine gun
effect you may remember back in episode
6 I had to replace a broken corner break
the red ones take about eight hours to
print side reduce them down to just
corner inserts like the white one shown
here these reprints turned out to be a
major benefit as it made installing the
pulley bracket so much easier here in
the front where the motor mounts are
i'll have to remove some of the outside
shroud to allow for the motor install
and general function after all this I
started putting the frame together
including putting and those fronts
latitude and here it is the frame all
bolted together now it's time to work on
the z axis we headed outside to break
out the grinder and cut the linear raj
from mcmaster carr i used the standard
cutting disc in my grinder i marked my
measurements of 48 inches and checked
them twice before starting my cut I have
to say that's had me nervous
I mean one mistake and I was going to be
paying for it once cut switch back to a
grinding disc and rounded the edges
slightly this removed any burning and
age in the installation my next step was
to assemble the entire the axis however
I found another issue back in episode 7i
six-hole alignment for the top of the
excess amount in relation to the bottom
motor mount but I'd failed to fix it on
the sliding bed mount and you can see
here it's just slightly off i fix the
problem in teacher cad and printed the
new ones in ABS clean them all up and
started the install now use my level to
get the access of the line as possible
I claim the bottom motor mount to the
frame to ensure wouldn't move while I
was drilling holes the next issue was
how to bolt up the top mount originally
I was going to go through the side
doing so would mess with the sliding of
the linear rails so i had to switch over
to going top to bottom here you can see
i added some voids and some hole size
just right to the bolts amusing and I
reprinted these parts as well using abs
so here the completed z-axis the first
side ended up being more trial and error
with the second side going together a
bit smoother
well that about does it for this week
we'll see what happens next week when we
take it apart and move it back out so
it's more permanent home in the back
shed
if you guys are looking for some other
large format builds let me go ahead and
