- This is a story about overcoming loneliness
and how a prince learns to love himself.
(gentle upbeat music)
For those of you who don't know story time with me
is when I tell a story off the top of my head
and nothing's been pre-thought and nothing
has been pre-written.
That means things can get a little crazy, a little crazy.
I hope you're comfortable, I hope you're ready.
I hope you enjoy.
Today's story is about a young prince.
He was engaged to the beautiful maiden.
Her name was Rose.
Rose grew up in another country.
They came together one afternoon
when he was invited to a ball.
A ball thrown to, all right, we're gonna start over.
Today's story is about a young prince.
He was engaged to the most beautiful maiden in his land.
She was the daughter of a hard working farmer.
They met one afternoon when his horse pulled up lame.
She helped him reshoe that horse
and it was love at first sight.
But unfortunately, two months before they were
to be married, she fell ill.
She drew cold and on her last breath,
she said, for him to remain happy,
he must continue to go through life.
He was admittedly devastated.
He walled up in his room.
He would speak to no one, not even the king,
not even when the king ordered him to speak.
That's was how lonely he became.
He became so lonely that he refused his food.
He would refuse bread, he would refuse soup.
He grew thin,
he grew white,
he grew more and more sad.
Down the rabbit hole he went.
He forgot to write down why it was
that he, oh man, I was doing good,
but then I was like, what the fuck was that shit?
Today's story is about a young prince
who was engaged to be married to the most beautiful maiden
in his kingdom.
But two, oh no, I liked the story about the meaning.
Today's story is about a young prince
who was engaged to be married to the most beautiful
maiden in the land.
She had long, curly, red hair, flushed skin,
I don't even know what flushed skin means.
Today's story is about a young prince
who was engaged to be married to the most beautiful maiden
in the land.
They met one afternoon when his horse pulled up lame.
She helped him reshoe that horse
and they fell in love immediately.
She was good with her hands, and he liked that.
He was sick of all the women
who bent over backwards to please him.
You see, Rose, that was her name,
in many ways ignored him at first.
She knew who he was but she just wanted
to make this horse feel less pain
and that's why he loved her.
But two months before they were to be married
in the castle, she fell ill and on her last evening alive,
right before she closed her eyes for the last time,
she held the prince's arm and with a weakening grip said,
you must continue.
You see, she knew how sensitive he was.
She knew that he would fall into a deep and dark depression
and that he did.
He walled himself up in his room,
high up in the castle.
He refused to speak to anyone, not even when the king
ordered him to.
He then refused food.
He went seven days without eating even a slice of bread.
He grew thin, he grew pale.
He fell further into darkness.
So the queen, on the seventh day of his hunger strike,
got him a gift.
Got him a baby goat, a tiny, little, light, fluffy,
little goat and named him Gilbert.
Gilbert or Gil for short was the cutest little goat.
He would hop up and down.
He would bang his head like he was listening
to heavy metal music.
He would baa all day long.
This finally made the prince smile.
The prince fell asleep every night cuddled
with the goat in his arms.
Slowly but surely he started taking food.
First, crumbs of bread, then a soup,
and then an entire feast.
Then he decided he must take the goat out to walk.
He walked around the castle and then through the garden
and out beyond the gates.
But then,
one afternoon,
when they were out in the fields,
Gilbert saw a rabbit.
Gilbert chased after that rabbit like it was the last
rabbit he was ever going to see.
Gilbert started hopping and he was hopping faster,
then he was hopping really fast,
faster than he'd ever hopped before.
The prince saw this and at first didn't say anything.
He thought Gilbert was up to his old funny tricks.
You see, Gilbert was a trickster.
He used to, as a baby, jump around the room,
singing the lullabies, singing children's lullabies.
That is right, Gilbert was that smart, he was saying,
♫ Mary Poppin had a farm
♫ E-I-E-I-O
Gilbert was a trickster but this was no trick.
He was salivating out of the mouth.
He was chasing this rabbit like he had no other choice.
So eventually the prince realized that something was wrong.
He jumped on his horse and started whipping the horse
and started riding the horse but eventually
when Gilbert reached the forest, he disappeared.
The prince fell into another depressive state.
He ordered entire armies to search the forest
for Gilbert, for Gil, but they came up empty.
So he searched every afternoon.
Once the king refused him soldiers,
he would search for himself.
He would go into the forest, deeper than any one
had ever been before until he almost gave up.
Until one evening as the moon was up high above him,
he fell exhausted up against a tree.
As his eyes were closing from exhaustion,
a gnome popped up.
A gnome was a tiny little creature of the forest,
that only show their old, scrawny, gnarly faces
when they felt it was necessary.
You see, they were the caretakers of the forest.
They had their eyes and ears everywhere and they said,
prince, this gnome said, prince, prince,
Gilbert is okay.
Gilbert is okay but you will never see him again
and you need to be okay with that.
You see, you cannot rely on someone else
for your own happiness.
Prince, I love you which is why I'm telling you the truth.
Prince, go back to the castle tonight.
Tell your mother and father that you love them
and that you will be okay.
You will be okay.
You might not be okay right now but you will be okay.
You will grow into a strong king.
Comfortable with who you are.
In love with life, in love with you and that's when,
that's when benevolence comes.
You will be remembered for your benevolence,
if you remember to be okay in your solitude.
That is the lesson that you are being taught right now.
This is no mistake, this happened for a reason,
learn from it.
The prince woke up in a daze and not knowing
what he was doing, held his head up high,
and marched back to the castle.
All right, that is the end of the story.

Thank you so much for watching.
I have a lot of fun with these stories.
As you can tell, without the editing,
that was literally one take, that was it.
All off the top of my head which is why it's kind of weird,
but I hope you like my weirdness.
All right, everyone, I love you, I love you, I love you,
I will see you in the next video.
