Waching daily Mar 12 2017

hi everyone it' Lauren, now I was going

to talk to you today about the books I

read in the first half of March but I've

actually only finished one book and I'm

in the middle of reading several others

so I thought what I would do instead is

do a kind of chatty discussion

about what I'm currently reading and you

know, my thoughts on these books so far

The first book that I have finished in the

month of March is The Argonauts by Maggie

Nelson, now this is a memoir,

autobiography of Maggie Nelson's life with

her partner who is fluifly gendered, but it's

about so much it's like nothing

I've ever read before; it's about gender

identity

it's about your sexuality and changing

sexualities, kind of what it means to be

in a self-identified queer relationship

when that your partner then goes on

testosterone and their body starts to

change and then it's also about

motherhood about her body changing when

she is pregnant with her firstchild

and it's just, it's about so much it's

very very interesting. It's written in a

much more academic style than I perhaps

thought it was going to be, she uses a

lot of quotes from philosophy and

sometimes I did feel like she was just on

this level which I I couldn't quite get

to and

yes, some of it was a little bit above my

head I think, but once I got into her

style and kind of got what she was about

I found it very interesting

it's very, like I say, philosophical

and it's a very interesting look into

what we see as a normal family life and

what the new normal might be in the

future

she's obviously very intellectual and I

enjoyed seeing the world through her eyes

through her perspective. So onto the

books that I am midway through, the first

of these is Leftover Women by Leta Hong-Fincher,

and this is about gender

inequality in modern China the reason

I'm reading this is that is the pick of

the month for the Feminist Orchestra

book club which is a book club that Jean runs

on Goodreads, I will leave a link in the

description box below if you'd like to

check it out. They are having a two-month

hiatus at the moment as it has been going

nonstop for a year but I believe she

will be back in June. I don't read very

much non fiction as a rule but it is

something I would really like to get

into in the coming months so I was

really looking forward to picking this

one up and I especially find China quite

interesting as a country

and this is about a new phrase called

'leftover women' which is used in China to

describe women who are kind of over the

age of 25, 26, 27, 28 who are unmarried and

it's a very interesting phenomenon

because there's a lot of pressure on

young women to get married as soon as

possible

there's also a lot of pressure on young

men to own a home and so even though a woman

might be very financially independent

and put a lot of money into a house

with her husband, in the majority of

cases the deed of the house is in the

husband's name alone and this is where I

am at the moment in the book. There's a

lot of other things I'm sure she's going

to explore, but it's a very interesting

look at all the different contributing

factors as to why women are in a more

financially precarious position in China

than they have been in the past, it

almost feels like they're going

backwards a little bit. It studies a lot of

the different societal norms and

expectations that there are in China

which are very different to where I live

in the west and it uses a lot of

anecdotal evidence for women that

Hong-Fincher has surveyed and she kind of uses

a variety of sources

it does feel like an extended essay or

extended article on the subject I'm not

sure I'm really getting the writer's own

voice through but like I said, because I don't

read a lot of nonfiction I don't reall know

how to compare this to in terms of writing

but the subjects and what I'm learning

I'm finding really interesting and it's

very very readable. I'm also reading some

fiction, I am in the middle of Home by

Marilynne Robinson which is on my kindle

I always like to have a kindle book

going as well as some physical books

because I have this like weird fear that

if I'm on a train and I finish my

physical book...well what if I finish it?

and I don't have another book to hand

to pick up straight away?! Because I always like

to be reading something so I always have

my kindle on me, because it's very easy

to pick a new book on your kindle

Home is part of a trilogy of

companion novels the first of these is Gilead,

add the third one is Lila and I read

those a couple of years ago when we

did the videos for the Man Booker Prize

and Lila was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize so I

thought, well I'd better read some of the

preceding novels to this story before I

read it

However the books themselves don't

actually follow a specific

order and the plots kind of

overlap so you don't need to read them

from Gilead - Home - Lila, you can kind of

read them in any order you want and you can

probably read them stand alone although you'd

get a very different experience I think

doing it that way. I really enjoyed

Gilead when I read it, it's about a vicar

in this small Midwestern American town

who knows that he's terminally ill, he's

writing a series of letters his young

son talking about his life, he's kind of

musing on life, death and faith and I

really very much enjoyed it. Home is told

from the perspective of this vicar's

best friend's family so it's about his

best friend's daughter and it's about

the return home of this guy's wayward son

who's not been in Gilead for about 20

years and it's about how they're

all reacting to that

Marilynne Robinson's writing is very slow

and it kind of unfolds, it'a very much about that

kind of American family life and I think

this is set in the sixties and seventies

so I'm enjoying it because I like

her tone and I liked Gilead when I read

it. To be honest I loved Gilead, I

thought Lila was ok and at the

moment I'm getting vibes that Home is ok

I think I liked Gilead because it was

told from the perspective of this vicar

and I likes his kind of ponderings and

musings on life and Home and Lila are just

about other characters in that world

which just kind of didn't speak to

me as much. And the last book that I'm currently

reading is a collection of short stories

by Lucia Berlin called A Manual for

Cleaning Women and these stories are set in

the 60s, 70s, 80s I think, in various

points in the US, they're set in New York

New Mexico, in Chile and I didn't really know

what to think about this going in, it's quite

a long collection of short stories and I

wasn't sure how I was going to feel, but

actually reading them, most of them are

based on Lucia Berlin's own life and

there's lots of characters that come

back and it feels like it's

fictionalized, but some of it I'm not

sure it's fiction or if some of it really

happened, so it actually becomes this

cohort of stories which all make sense

together and it feels like these are

different chapters of one big story and

I'm really loving that she looks

at some quite intense and sad subjects

but she puts a little bit of humor in

there and she's got some quite dry and

witty observations about American

life, so I am really enjoying it so far

I'm about halfway through

it's not the kind of book that you can race

through because it's just lots and lots

of little stories but yeah I'm actually

very impressed. I'm enjoying it more than

I expected to be going in. I will be

really interested to see if my opinions

on any of these change like once I

finish them compared to where I'm

feeling now at the midway point for

most of them. I would love to hear from

you as always if you've read any of these books and

I guess I'll see you in my next video

bye!

Impact: "I was excited to lane against Flame in NA, but we just play tanks and push in... feels bad" - Duration: 4:21.

I think I'm number one. No, I'm not lying.

I think I'm number one best Korean in NA now, because I've stayed in NA so much time now--maybe

two years--and I can speak so much English, easy... er, not easy, but I can speak.

I can answer questions, I can just ask, easy.

But other Korean players...

I think their English is not bad, but need time because English in listening is so hard,

I think.

Well, not so hard, but need time, just need time.

And maybe number two...

I don't know.

I want to say Piglet, but Piglet, he changed position mid and he yesterday win, but...

maybe, okay. (NA LCS Week 6)

Uh, TSM don't have Korean, FlyQuest don't have Korean... only Cloud9 have Korean.

You know, only top team that have Korean.

Because--top teams, only Cloud9 have Korean, and TSM and FlyQuest don't have Koreans.

I think maybe because communication is so hard.

So I don't know number two, number three, number four now.

I don't know, because NA is good life and you don't have pressure so many, but I'm last

year so sad because I'm best Korean on team and I played bad too, but we team lose too.

But this time...

I'm just thinking maybe, if I go to Korea and I'm practicing more, maybe play better,

I think.

But I don't know...

NA's good because I'm turn exciting, I'm first time go NA, and I'm so exciting and I'm so

happy.

Wow, I can see sun and I can see clouds, oh shit, so easy.

Because Koreans, so many have apartments, you see so hard the sky.

But NA, you see easy and just makes you relaxed and makes the place good.

So I don't know... it's maybe 50/50.

Oh I'm just, little bit, thinking it's turning exciting.

I'm matching Flame, and people tell me I'm so funny--I'm so fun--because matching is--he

has good lane phase and my picture is good too so it's 50/50, so fun.

But... so he came first time in NA, right?

So I'm matching him so I'm excited, all of the matches--"ohh, may be fun!"

But just tank and just push in... nothing... feels bad, but we teammates better so we win.

Basically, even though I knew a little bit of this, he helped me try to get

my basic manners, like when talking to other people and interacting with other people,

what you can say and what you can't.

And mentality-wise, he helped me a lot because when I lost lane back then, I used to tilt

a lot, but he reinstated to me that even if I'm losing the lane, or if I'm the person

that's falling behind, the team itself can win still.

So there are still other win conditions, so that helped me a lot, personally.

Because if--I think you need trust because if you want to win--and everyone wants to win, right?

Teammates want to win, I want to win too.

So we need trust, always.

I just want to say thank you fans... how to say, wait... thank you for cheering for Cloud9,

and I'm just so sad because one week my play so bad.

So I'm just thank you so many times and I'm now better, so just yeah, I'm good.

Playing Kindred in other roles than jungle is really hard, but you can pull it off if

you are really dedicated.

You should definitely look for melee matchups though, because you can abuse melee champions

much more than you can abuse ranged ones, so while Kindred ADC can work with an agressive

support, Kindred mid or top into a melee matchup is going to be a better idea.

Patience Relating to Preparedness - Duration: 5:04.

Hey Guys, Justin from Dynasty Preppers and today I was listening to a Podcast and uh

brought up a good point I thought I wanted to talk to everyone about.

It was a business podcast but I think it flows in really well with the survival industry

as well and uh we need to talk about Patience, and that's coming up next.

So I was listening to a Podcast and they talk about patience and are you planning for the

shortterm or are you planning for the longterm.

Are you planning for you know the end game or are you just looking at things as they

come along and I think it's really important when we talk about families and being prepared

you know realistically I don't know if anybody, if alot of people really look at the end game.

What are you trying to be prepared for?

Do you have things in place to actually be prepared to you know for things that may come

up?

Are you out of debt?

You know?

Are you teaching your kids things that would be useful to them if something were to happen.

So I think the name of the game really is about patience and you know looking at our

strategy I don't even know if we are there, I don't know if we are looking at the end

game far enough.

If we are looking far enough down the road, but you know what do you think?

What are you prepared for?

Are you prepared for the long term, the short term, where are you at I mean.

I don't know.

Let me know what you guys are prepared for.

It just got me thinking about you know are we really preparing or looking at the end

game.

What is the end game?

I don't know.

But that's what kinda hit me today I was listening to the business podcast and I said you know

that really does apply to survival as well.

To preparedness, being prepared.

What are we doing?

You know?

Are we looking at the end game and what we really need to do?

You know being a parent I think we all need to teach our kids to be self reliant and you

know, are we doing that?

I try to do that with my kids, but is it making a big enough impact though?

Are we doing enough to try to teach them to be self reliant with things right now?

I mean, you know things come up.

The littlest things, a snowstorm, loosing a job, you know.

Those things, you know.

Anything financial, you know?

Stock market crashes, anything like that can affect you and how your positioned.

So I don't know, yeah that's just what I was thinking about today and I wanted to do a

quick video to see what you guys though.

Are you preparing for the end game or are we just going short term and looking for you

know, are you living paycheck to paycheck.

Are we looking for solutions to short term problems when we should be playing the long

game and looking at other things in survival.

Are you spending time on learning skills?

I would consider that a longer term end game.

Are you investing in yourself?

Are you investing in your family and their skills?

And I think we need to do more, I personally think we need to do more training and invest

in ourselves a little bit more, you know short term are we doing things like storing food

and things like that that we need to?

Sure, of course we are, but are we investing in ourselves and are we looking at the end

game at you know what we want to become or have?

You know we have invested in some medical training which I think was really important,

but what other things do we need to invest in?

What do we need to spend time learning and doing?

You know, anyway just random thoughts for today.

Go ahead and comment down below and let us know what you think you need to be doing,

you know, what are you looking at in the end game?

What do you need to train on, what do you need to try to do so you are prepared for

if something happens?

We all need to learn new skills, we all need to do different things, what do you think

you need to do for your family and for your situation?

Comment down below and let me know.

I will, you know, be re-evaluating some things here, I really think we need to do some longer

end game training and things like that for ourselves and for our family, but you know,

what do you think?

So if you haven't yet subscribe to the channel with the red subscribe button down below.

Just some random thoughts about you know being prepared with your family today, but you know

there is lots of other good content coming up.

If you haven't yet follow us on social media as well, we do try to post daily deals that

will help you prepare for the short game anyway, thanks guys

How to make a simple operation system program with Excel - Duration: 3:51.

Today, I'll introduce you how to make simple operation system program in Excel.

[Intro Video]

Hi, this is Mike Negami, Lean Sigma Black Belt.

I talked about the synergy effect of Lean Sigma and Excel, and the simple operation

system in Excel in the previous video.

If you haven't watched it, please click this link and watch the video.

Here is my basic development flow of a simple operation system program.

1) Collect best practices of the target process by the Lean Sigma method and complete designing

the optimized target process.

2) Collect the Excel worksheets currently used in the process and improve and finalize

each user interface.

3) Complete a simple operation system program using Excel functions and VBA.

I've just completed my personal project, so I'll explain each step by using the project

as a case study.

The first step will be finished when you complete a Value Stream Map of the new process.

Here is our project's VSM.

In the 2nd step, collect all the Excel worksheets that they currently use for the target process

and interview those operators about what they're trying to achieve with each sheet.

Even at this point you can improve each worksheet by considering the interview results and the

new process design.

In my project, they look like this.

Then, you should show the results to the managers and skilled workers and obtain approval.

This is an important step.

In the final step, by using VBA, I make the process flow smooth and minimize operators'

operational burden.

Let's see how it actually works.

This program is an OS for the art production process flow.

Here are step-by-step instructions.

The operators work by following the instructions.

For example, since you enter a new production schedule first, you click this button, and

you can enter the project name.

Then, a new line is added.

You type necessary information in the light blue cells.

Let's say that this schedule was canceled.

Select that line and click on this button, you are prompted to confirm deletion and click

Yes to delete that line.

Also, click this button, which brings you to the previous worksheet.

As you saw, you can program Excel to make it work for you any way you want.

Typically, you click a button or double click a cell, then your program starts.

In addition, like this, you can make customized screen any way you want to for a better user

experience.

We call codes for sentences of a program.

I didn't show VBA codes today, but I will introduce them someday in the future.

I hope that that gets you to try mastering VBA.

However, if some of you may have thought that today's contents were too difficult, I'm planning

to make videos about useful tips for worksheets and Excel functions, first.

Thank you very much for viewing.

Please click the 'Subscribe' button.

Also click and watch my other related videos.

Thanks.

How to Prevent Windows 10 From Automatically Downloading Updates - Duration: 1:38.

Hey Friends,

We know we have a limited control over

Windows 10 update settings

as Windows brings updates automatically

Here is a way to change the same

so that we can decide when to download and install the updates like we did in Windows 7

This can be done using Group Policy Editor.

In order to open Group Policy Editor, Press Windows and R button simultaneously,

type gpedit.msc in Run window and click OK button.

Group Policy Editor window opened,

Click 'Administrative Templates' under 'Computer Configuration'

Double click on 'Windows Components' from right hand side.

Scroll down and open 'Windows Update'.

Double Click on 'Configure Automatic Updates'.

Click on 'Enabled' and Choose your option

I am selecting an option to just notify me about downloads

Click 'Apply' and 'OK'. Close the window.

Let's verify the options...

Yeah..seems to be good...

Let's see whether Windows Update has changed or not.

Start -> Settings --> Update & Security

Download button appears...Yeah..its not downloading updates automatically now.

Thanks for watching this video.

[C#] Basic Additive & Multiplicative Operators | Unity C# Tutorial | BODMAS & Order of Operations - Duration: 8:17.

Hello Ace

This is RetroTK2 and today you'll learn about some of the basic operators in C#

You'll get to see all the 'Additive' Operators and 2 of the 'Multiplicative' Operators

A painfully simple tutorial for you today Ace, but an important one none the less

As ever Ace, if you haven't already, I'd advise you to download the 'Channel-Files' that accompany this video

The card should be on your screen now

So let's get started...

Open up Unity and create a basic C# script

As always Ace, make sure the script has a different name than any other class in your project

Let's have a look at the 'Additive' Operators, that's the '+' and '-' ones Ace

Now it has to be said, I won't be going into the use of these operators with any other types, other than numeric ones Ace since it can get complicated pretty quickly

I will go into far greater detail later on in the series, but for now we'll be using them for basic adding and subtraction

If we us our knowledge from the "Basic Data Types" video...

(The card is on your screen now Ace)

We know how to declare a literal integer

Here I'm typing out "1 + 1", a concept that I'm sure you're all to familiar with Ace

Saving, heading back into Unity...

Grabbing our script and attaching it to a GameObject...

And running our game...

Prints '2' to the console, because "1 + 1 = 2"

I know Ace, Einstein would be proud

Actually, he might...

Since it was quantum mechanics that paved the way for computers

And quantum mechanics was his discovery

Although he himself wasn't a fan off it...

Hang on Ace, what am I doing, "1 + 1 = 2", let's leave it at that

Alright, alright, that was easy, but what if we add an 'int' to a 'float'?

What then Ace?

Save, head back into Unity, and re-run the game...

and you'll see '2' is outputted, so it's exactly the same as before?

Well, not exactly Ace

Adding an 'int' to a 'float' will output a 'float'

This probably isn't obvious since we're adding an integer float, if we can call it that

It becomes a little more obvious why it would output it as 'float' if we give it a decimal value as well

Saving, heading back into Unity...

And re-running our game...

Now outputs '2.11'

Since an 'int' type can only ever be an integer, the number has to become a 'float' type, other wise the '.11' part would be truncated

We'll go into more detail about type conversions a bit later on Ace, but it's good for us to be thinking about them now

We can also add multiple numbers together

Here I'm adding '1' as an 'int', '1.11' as a 'float' and '1.11' as a 'double'

Saving, heading back into Unity and re-running...

Will output '3.22000001430512'...

Hmmm... now I'm no mathematician Ace, well actually that could be debated

However the result of '1 + 1.11 + 1.11' cannot be debated and should give us '3.22'

So why do we have all the other garbage on the end?

It's either to do with the number's conversion to a 'double' type, and we know it's a 'double' since it has '15' digits

Or its to do with the advanced inaccuracies of floating-point numbers

Either way Ace, it's definitely way beyond this tutorial and will be talked about at a much later date

Going back and changing our 'float' to a 'double', or our 'double' to a 'float' should give us the desired result

And who said basic mathematics can't be fun

Save, head back into Unity...

And re-run the game Ace

And you'll see both are outputted as '3.22'

Similarly, the '-' operator works in a very similar way

If we copy our positive logs and replace the operators...

with negative ones...

like so Ace...

Save, head back into Unity and re-run our game...

You'll see that we get '-1.22', which is the desired output here Ace

Fairly basic, fairly standard Ace

Let's move onto 'Multiplicative' operators, arguably one of the hardest words to say

There are three in C#, but we're only concerned with '*' and '/' today Ace

The other one we will discuss a little later in the series

Much like the 'Additive' operators, the 'Multiplicative' can be used in a very similar way

Here I'm going to multiply 2 by 1...

and divide 2 by 4

Saving, heading back into Unity...

And re-running our game...

Will give the desired output, '2' and '0.5'

What's that Ace, it's only outputting '0' and not the rest?

Ahhh, that's because it's being outputted as an 'int' type Ace, and the '.5' is being truncated

This is very important to remember Ace, and we'll no doubt see this type of thing many times when we are programming

We of course will go over this in better detail later on, but for now you can easily solve it by changing one of the numbers to a 'float' type

Save, head back into Unity, and re-run the game...

And you'll see it outputs '0.5' as we would expect

Wonderful

Ok, let's move onto something a little more complicated Ace, do you remember 'BODMAS' from school?

'BODMAS', is the 'Order of Operations' in an equation

It stands for: "B" for Brackets

"O" for Orders

"DM" for Division and Multiplication (left-to-right)

And "AS" for Addition and Subtraction (left-to-right)

Here we're only concerned with "DM" and "AS" for now Ace

Back in Visual Studio, we can create a more complicated equation with our operators

Here I'm typing out "1f + 2f – 3f * 4f / 5f"

I've made them all floats too, so there's no funny business with truncating Ace

If we save, head back into Unity, and re-run our game...

You'll see we get '0.6'

Let's break this down Ace

For the sake of readability, I'm going to do it as a comment and I'll leave out the 'f' of the 'floats' in my explanation

With 'BODMAS' we know multiplication and division take priority over addition and subtracting

So here we pass by the plus and minus, and go straight to the multiplication

After that, priority goes from left to right

So here the '*' sign takes priority over the '/' sign

Now we just work it out

'3 * 4 = 12'

Giving us the new equation of: '1 + 2 – 12 / 5'

Now we know division is done first Ace, so we'll do: '12 / 5', which should give us '2.4'

Giving us a new equation of: '1 + 2 – 2.4'

We know the priority now is left to right, so: '1 + 2 = 3'

Giving us the new equation of: '3 – 2.4'

And that equated out should give us '0.6'

Exactly what is outputted in the Unity console Ace

Nothing too crazy here Ace, and now we have a very good understanding of the basic operators in C#

And that's it...
