One of the most frequent symbols in vexillology is the presence of religious symbols.

The religious symbols incorporated in flags can be Christian (the most important being

the cross), Islamic (the most important being the crescent), Hinduistic or Buddhist.

The largest category of religious symbols in flags is Christian followed by Islamic.

So let's begin with the Christian symbols in flags.

The Union Jack has Christian elements.

Indeed, it is in reality composed of three flags each superimposed on its other: the

English red St George's cross, the Scottish diagonal St Andrew's cross (the white one)

and the red diagonal St Patrick's cross.

As a consequence, all flags which have the Union Jack on the top left corner have also

Christian symbolism like the Flag of Australia, New Zealand, Tuvalu, Fiji and Hawaii, as well

many other.

The next category of flags having Christian symbols are those having the Nordic crosses,

most importantly those of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland.

Those flags incorporate Christian symbolism while the shift of the cross towards the left

is a relatively recent development.

Other notable flags with Christian symbolism include the flags of Greece, with its white

cross, that of Portugal and of Moldova (with their crosses in their coat of arms) , the

flag of Switzerland , the flags of Slovakia , Malta, Georgia, Tonga , as well as flags

with a Christian crone like the flags of Serbia, Montenegro, Liechtenstein and Spain . Some

other countries also have the constellation of the Southern Cross which has Christian

connotations notable examples being the flags of Samoa and Papua New Guinea.

There are several other Christian symbols in flags mainly of territories of either the

United Kingdom like the flags of Niue or British Virgin Islands or the Nordic crosses like

the flag of the Faroe Islands.

So now let's examine the flags with Islamic symbols.

In this category, the most notable flags are the flags with crescents like the flags of

Pakistan, Libya, Turkey, Tunisia, Algeria, Malaysia, Comoros, Azerbaijan, Mauritania,

Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Maldives.

However the Singaporean flag although is a non Muslim country bears a crescent which

in this case is meant to represent a young nation on the rise / ascendant.

Other flags with Islamic symbols are those of Saudi Arabia, which depicts in Calligraphic

Arabic the Islamic declaration of faith which declares that "There is no other god but

Allah and Muhammad is his Messenger".

The flag of Iraq depicts the phrase "God is Great".

The Jordanian flag shows a white star with seven points which stand for the unity of

the Arab people.

It is also said to stand for the seven verses of the first surah in the Quran.

The seven points also represent faith in one God, humanity, humility, national spirit,

virtue, social justice, and aspiration.

The flag of Bahrain features five white triangles symbolizing the Five Pillars of Islam.

The Islamic symbols on the flag of Iran consist of four crescents representing the colossal

faith of the nation to Islam with the sword in the middle symbolizing power and determination

to keep the faith.

The phrase "Allahu Akbar" "God is Great" is mentioned eleven times in white in the

upper and the lower parts of the flag.

Let's move now to the flags depicting Buddhist or Hindu religious symbols.

The religious symbols become visible on five national flags.

It is of interest that in three of those flags the religious symbols depicted represent both

religions.

Thus, the flag of Cambodia, features the Angkor Wat which is easily associated with both Hinduism

and Buddhism.

The flag of Nepal depicts symbols of both religions since these represent the two predominant

religions in the country.

Finally, the flag of India shows the blue chakra which symbolizes the center of the

energy channels of the body (the so-called nadies) the one being the force of life (prana)

and the other that of the vital energy.

Nada is part of the Hindu and Buddhist theologies alike.

The flag of Israel is the only one featuring a Jewish religious symbol, that of the Star

of David in a white and blue striped background representative of the basic design of the

Tallit, the Jewish prayer scarf.

The flag of Japan depicts the hinomaru, the rising sun which in Shinto symbolizes spirituality

and harmony.

The flags of Uruguay and Argentina depict a shining golden sun deriving from the sun

God of Incas, Inti.

The Mexican flag features the symbol of the Aztec God Huitzilopochtliwhich, and it is

composed of an eagle sitting on a cactus with a snake held within its beak.

This eagle is thought to have appeared before the Aztecs urging them to build the city of

Tenochtitlan.

Several States of USA feature religious symbols on their flags like the States of Alabama

and Florida which show the St Andrew cross.

It should be also noted, that the State of New Mexico depicts a Native American religious

symbol.

In conclusion, religious symbols are still prevalent in flags around the world and they

represent a sizeable part of vexillology.

It is very important to further study and analyze them.

Seat Leon (1999-2005) buying advice - Duration: 9:29.

The first generation SEAT León was meant as a hatchback alternative to the SEAT Toledo.

However, it became a bestseller for SEAT. The car was introduced in 1999.

It was replaced by the second generation in 2005, but we're driving the first generation now.

I'm feeling nostalgic, because I had a car like this. Not a cool car such as this one, though.

I had a simple TDI. I'll get back to this car later.

The gasoline engines range from 74 to 222 hp, the diesel engines go from 67 to 148 hp.

The 148 hp was a Cupra. Cupras come with gasoline and diesel engines.

There are a lot of gasoline Cupra varieties. It looks like you want the 2.8 V6, but don't.

You want a 1.8 turbo, because these have a lighter nose and handle much better.

To make the León's development affordable, SEAT borrowed technology from associated companies.

Volkswagen supplied the Golf 4 for this car's technology, but the interior is from an Audi A3.

Many parts come from the VAG Group, now the Volkswagen Group.

You can find about 270 SEAT Leóns on Marktplaats.nl.

Only 10 have an automatic transmission, so you'll have to look hard if you want one.

About 1 in 5 cars has a diesel engine.

The prices vary between 750 euros for a well-used car and 9,000 euros for the best Cupras.

PRICES minimum, maximum

There are plenty of reasons to buy a SEAT León. First, they're affordable.

I think it's a timeless design. I still like the way it looks.

Also, there are nice editions, for sporty drivers as well.

You won't have to choose the Cupra R, because there are Cupras, FRs, and Topsports.

Those are the more sporty cars.

I think it's a fun car to start with.

Of course, there are things to watch out for. First, the 1.8 eats timing belts.

It needs to be replaced every 100,000 km (62,100 miles) or every 4 years.

If the belt snaps, the engine is destroyed.

The individual ignition coils of the later gasoline engines can break.

If the car starts running on 3 cylinders, that's probably the cause.

Stop the car. Don't continue driving. Stop and call roadside services or get a tow.

Don't keep the engine running, because this can damage things.

If you want a diesel car, you're better off with the 128 hp version than with the 148 hp.

The 148 hp version is less reliable.

The mass airflow sensors of the 1.8 gasoline and 1.9 TDI engines are delicate.

These sensors break, causing an irregular idle.

You'll feel a loss of power when driving, especially if you're a sporty driver.

The final thing concerning the powertrain is that the manual 6-speed transmission

of the more powerful gasoline engines (178 hp and up) aren't completely foolproof.

Listen for strange sounds during the testdrive and check if it shifts into every gear smoothly.

That's not a problem with this car.

From the powertrain we're moving on to the undercarriage.

There are no specific things to watch out for, except that it is an older car.

You'll have to check for worn wishbone bushings. Those can be 18 years old in an early León.

The Cupras with the smaller 16 inch rims, especially the early models, have smaller brakes.

Those are OK, unless you're buying the car for track days.

If you want something bigger, you can upgrade to Brembos, but you'll need 18 inch wheels.

The later Cupra Rs have Brembos factory, so you won't have to change that.

There are a number of things to watch out for with the exterior.

First, the gutter can get clogged. This thing gets rid of the water thrown down by the windshield wipers.

When the gutter is clogged, you'll get water in the interior and this won't make you happy.

This can cause serious electronic problems.

The taillights are susceptible to leaks as well.

The seals around the taillights dry out, crack, and allow water to get in.

This will cause the trunk to get wet, so check if the spare tire box is dry.

Other leaky spots are at the side windows and the door.

Water may get in there, causing problems with the power windows.

There may be a problem with the car horn. If it doesn't work, it got too damp.

If it does work and you want to keep it that way, you can flip it around.

This sounds stupid, but it's true.

The horn gets wet under the hood.

If you unscrew the 2 bolts, flip the horn around, and put it back, it faces the other way around.

You'll be honking at yourself, but it won't break and people will still hear you.

Lights burn out often, caused by peak voltage in the electronic circuit, as they call it.

Not much can be done. They burn out and you'll have to replace them more than average.

Unfortunately, peak voltage also causes the dashboard lights to burn out.

It sucks if this happens, because it's expensive to fix everything.

The final thing to watch out for...

The brake light switch can break.

When this happens, the car won't run smoothly and you'll get warning lights on the dashboard.

The EPC light switches on, so you think everything will break down.

Don't panic; it's not that bad. Simply replace the switch for a few euros and everything'll work again.

You've already seen that this SEAT León stands out. It's yellow and a real Cupra R.

This was the car I wanted when I drove my leased León diesel car all over.

It was my dream back then. It's a fantastic cool car.

It's a Cupra R with 212 hp and FWD. If you think that's too exciting, AWD was available as well.

This one is for sale at ROTS Automobielen in Almelo.

It's about 9,000 euros.

That seems like a lot of money for a León, but this one did little over 100,000 km (62,100 miles).

It has had 1 owner and it's in very good shape.

That's not even true.

So, how can you work at ACR and earn even more money?

Well I'm gonna tell ya, and it's not gonna be boring.

Even though it has to do with numbers.

The first thing we're going to talk about is Pay Differentials.

So as you may or may not be aware, the DCP's base pay rate is $11.00 per hour.

On top of that, there are pay differentials that vary depending on whatever shift you're

working.

So for example, if you're a night owl like me, and you have to go to work every day at

8:00, and you're super duper tired... ...soo tired....

Then you can just work Awake Nights!

Woo woo!

Sunday night through Thursday night Awakes you can earn $12.75 an hour.

While Friday night and Saturday night, you earn $15 per hour.

If nights just aren't for you, then you can still work weekends and earn $12.81 instead

of $11 per hour.

Boo yah!

More money, same work.

Segway here I come.

Another way you can earn more money is through annual raises.

If you've worked for ACR for 1 year, you will get a $0.25 raise for every shift you work.

If you work for 2 years, you get a fifty cent raise on top of that.

And after 3 years, a twenty five cents on top of that!

That was a lot of numbers.

Which is one whole dollar per hour!

That's...

That's like a lot of lattes.

So pay attention to when you started working, because that raise is on its way to you!

And you better catch it before somebody else does.

Are raises communicable?

I don't think so.

Probably not.

Lastly, so don't check out on me yet, cuz I gotta tell you about Advancement Opportunities.

If you're interested in earning even more, you can be a long-term or even

an emergency float.

And if you're interested in doing that, you can earn so much more money!

But I won't tell you about that.

Let's just say that you're stuck working Mondays, Wednesdays,

and Fridays in the evenings, and you can't work Awakes or Weekends.

And you've only been with the company for seven months so that raise is not quite on

its way to you.

Does that mean that you don't get any more money right now?

Talk to your RS about becoming a Shift Supervisor for a fifty cent raise.

If you're responsible and you're willing, the RS just might make you a shift supervisor,

or even an RSA!

(Residential Supervisor Assistant) That's assistant TO the Residential Supervisor.

for a 1 dollar raise!

It's not available everywhere, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Hello, so I don't know how to say this.

Umm...

This is kind of a little bit of a difficult subject for me, umm...

It's about my diagnosis.

It's about my deafness, umm...

And I was a little scared to say something

because I didn't want anybody to yell at me, you know.

I just... And um...

The truth is I really can't do math

and I completely fudged up how old I was

when I was first diagnosed, right?

Ha!

So I always said that I was 12 years old

when I was diagnosed with hearing loss, right,

that was when I was hard of hearing

and then as I got older I became deaf basically.

I mean I have some hearing left, but not enough.

So ha ha!

I realized this when I was doing an interview

for Deaf Unity.

I was answering questions.

One of them was when were you first diagnosed

with hearing loss.

When did your parents find out that you were deaf

or hard of hearing, you know?

And I put I was 12 years old, I was in the sixth grade.

Can Beer Give You a Big Belly?

Drinking beer is often associated with an increase in body fat, particularly around

the belly.

This is even commonly referred to as a �beer belly.�

But does beer really cause belly fat?

This article takes a look at the evidence.

3 Ways That Beer May Cause Fat Gain

It�s been suggested that beer drinking may increase belly fat in a number of ways.

These include causing excess calorie consumption, preventing your body from burning fat and

increasing the phytoestrogen content of your diet.

Here are the three main reasons why beer may be a particularly effective driver of belly

fat gain:

It Increases Your Calorie Intake

Gram for gram, beer contains as many calories as a soft drink, so it has the potential to

add a lot of calories to your diet .

Some studies have also shown that drinking alcohol can increase your appetite in the

short term, causing you to eat more than you otherwise would .

Furthermore, it�s been shown that people don�t always compensate for the calories

they consume from alcohol by eating less of other foods instead .

This means that drinking beer regularly could contribute a significant number of calories

to your diet.

Beer May Prevent Fat Burning

Drinking alcohol can prevent your body from burning fat.

This is because your body prioritizes the breakdown of alcohol over other sources of

fuel, including stored fat.

In theory, regular drinking could therefore contribute to an increase in body fat.

However, studies examining this have found mixed results.

Over the long term, drinking beer regularly but moderately in portions of less than 17

oz (500 ml) per day doesn�t seem to lead to an increase in body weight or belly fat

.

Nevertheless, drinking more than that could very well lead to significant weight gain

over time.

It Contains Phytoestrogens

The flowers of the hop plant are used to give beer its flavor.

This plant is known to be very high in phytoestrogens, plant compounds that can mimic the action

of the female sex hormone estrogen in your body .

Because of their phytoestrogen content, it has been suggested that the hops in beer might

cause hormonal changes in men that increase the risk of storing belly fat.

However, although it�s possible that men who drink beer are exposed to higher levels

of phytoestrogens, it�s not known how these plant compounds affect their weight or belly

fat, if at all .

Men Have a Higher Risk Than Women

The link between weight gain and drinking alcohol is stronger in men than women.

This is thought to be because men tend to drink more heavily than women, perhaps up

to three times as much . Men are also much more likely to have an android

fat distribution, meaning they store fat around the belly when they gain weight .

Additionally, men are more likely to drink beer than women.

This could be important since beer contains more calories than many other sources of alcohol.

Do Other Types of Alcohol Cause Belly Fat?

The most likely way beer contributes to belly fat is through the excess calories it adds

to your diet.

Other types of alcohol like spirits and wine have fewer calories per standard drink than

beer.

This means they may be less likely to cause weight gain and belly fat.

Interestingly, some studies have linked drinking moderate amounts of wine with lower body weights.

one study found that people who drank one drink per day had the least amount of fat.

Those who consumed less overall, but had four or more drinks on drinking days, were at the

greatest risk of weight gain How to Get Rid of Your Beer Belly

The best way to get rid of a beer belly is through diet and exercise.

If you�re drinking heavily, you should also think about limiting your alcohol intake or

giving it up completely.

Try to avoid binge drinking, or having a lot of alcohol over one or two days.

Exercise is also a really effective way for both men and women to lose belly fat.

Both cardio and high-intensity exercise can help .

Additionally, exercise has lots of amazing health benefits on top of weight loss, which

make it one of the best things you can do to improve your health.

The Bottom Line

Drinking beer can cause weight gain of any type � including belly fat.

Keep in mind that the more you drink, the higher your risk of weight gain is.

It seems that moderate drinking of one beer per day (or less) is not linked with getting

a �beer belly.�

However, if you drink a lot of beer or binge drink regularly then you are at a very high

risk of belly fat gain, as well as various other serious health problems.

To minimize your risk of gaining weight, make sure to keep your alcohol intake within the

recommended limits and lead a healthy, active lifestyle.

Profound features a powerful and customizable search engine that helps you target the exact

information you need.

Let's take a closer look at how it works.

There are multiple ways to search for market research reports on Profound.

A quick and easy method is by browsing.

You can search for reports by industries, locations, and publishers.

Industries and locations may be sorted by category or by alphabetic index depending

on your preference.

Profound supports searching using Boolean terms, phrase searching, proximity searching,

and filters.

To search for more than one keyword, simply add a space between words, or insert "and"

in all caps between words to include all the keywords in your search.

If you'd like to return documents that contain at least one of your keywords, insert "or"

in all caps.

To exclude terms from your search, you can place "not" in all caps at the beginning

of the term you don't want to be included.

Sometimes you need to search for a phrase containing a string of multiple words.

To search for exact phrases, add quotation marks surrounding the phrase.

Wildcards are a useful tool in searching for words that may have multiple spellings within

a document.

Simply type an asterisk right after your search term to include results that contain the word

with multiple letters after it.

Profound's search engine automatically includes plurals, alternate endings, and synonyms,

so wildcard searching may not be necessary.

The search engine is also not case-sensitive.

You can use parentheses to group words or phrases.

Terms in parentheses will be searched first and then combined with your other terms.

The NEAR and ONEAR functions may be used to restrict the document result set to documents

that have terms within a certain distance from each other.

For NEAR, the order of the search terms doesn't matter for the matching, only the distance.

ONEAR specifies the exact order for your search terms to match.

Any number of terms may be combined with the NEAR and ONEAR operators.

A default term distance of 4 is used if the distance N = is not specified.

The "Show more filters" section of the Profound search page is a taxonomy browser and indexing

system that can be utilized each time you run a search.

Search terms act as a filter against the library of reports on Profound.

Use search terms to look up and select Industry, Company, Location and Publisher criteria to

include in your search.

The Profound search allows you to browse a list of terms if needed.

Simply begin typing and a list of matching criteria will be displayed for your selection.

Filters are connectors that can be used to narrow or broaden your search criteria, as

required.

"Any of" will search on any of the terms you select.

This filter broadens a search.

The more terms strung together, the larger the search result pool.

"All of" means that all terms selected must be applied to the report.

The more terms strung together, the smaller the search result pool.

"None of" results in documents that do NOT contain the terms in this filter.

Once you've determined which search terms you want to use, you may use the provided

filters to narrow your results.

Choose between the publishing date, how the results are sorted, and "sections available"

which indicates whether the reports are sliceable.

Are the search terms you've used effective in finding what you're looking for?

Share the search with another user by clicking on "Share This Search" on the left.

Profound generates a URL that can be distributed via e-mail to other users with a Profound

login.

You can save the search for later use by clicking "Save This Search."

You will be prompted to name your search and decide whether you'd like to set an alert

which will automatically send you links to new reports that match your save search criteria

as they are loaded into Profound.

When you set an alert, Profound will run an automatic search at the frequency you choose

and e-mail you the results.

To the left of the screen you can manage your searches.

Click on "manage saved searches" to see a list of your searches as well as the options

you have selected for them.

You can edit the alerts for each search by changing the number of titles displayed, delivery

frequency, and format.

Male Speaker: I'm really confused

about this SSI thing. It's a bit of a mystery to me.

Narrator: Well, we can easily clear that up.

SSI stands for "Supplemental Security Income."

It's a program that's run by Social Security.

If you're eligible for SSI, Social Security gives you

money each month to help you pay for things

like food, rent, and utilities.

Most people who get SSI also get a low-cost

health insurance called Medical Assistance.

Male Speaker: Oh, so that's what SSI is.

Well, who can get it?

Narrator: Great question.

If you have a disability, you may be able to get SSI.

To be eligible, you must also have

low assets and low income.

Male Speaker: Huh, I do have a disability,

and I don't have very much money.

Narrator: Well, you may already may be receiving SSI.

And if not, you may be eligible.

Let's look at the three requirements one at a time.

First, you have to meet Social Security's definition

of "Disability."

Now, they have some pretty specific rules for this,

like your disability must be severe, long-term

and limit your ability to work.

If you're under 18, rather than looking at work,

Social Security looks at how your disability

limits daily activities.

Male Speaker: I'm pretty sure I meet their definition

of disability.

Narrator: Great. Let's look at the second requirement:

Your assets must be below $2,000 or below $3,000

if you're married.

Male Speaker: What are assets?

Narrator: Assets are the things you own,

like a house, a bank account, or a car.

But not all your assets count.

For example, if you own the house you live in,

it won't count.

And a car you use to get to work or doctor appointments

won't count either.

If you're under 18, some of your parents' assets

may count.

Male Speaker: Okay, I think I've got it so far.

So what's the third requirement?

Narrator: The third requirement is that your monthly income

must be below $735, or below $1103

if you're married.

Male Speaker: Huh. Well what exactly is income?

Narrator: Income is money you receive,

like a paycheck from work or a Social Security

disability benefit. But not all your income counts.

For example, if you have wages,

Social Security only counts about half of it.

And if you have unearned income, like a Social Security

disability benefit, they don't count $20 of it.

After the deductions, if your income

is below the limit, you may be eligible

for some SSI.

If you're under 18, some of your parent's income

may count.

Male Speaker: All right.

Now that I know what the three requirements are,

how can I find out if I'm already getting SSI?

Narrator: It's easy. Just call Social Security

at 1-800-772-1213 and ask.

Or you can log in to ssa.gov/signin

to see what you get.

Male Speaker: Great. I'll totally check that out.

If I'm not getting SSI, how do I apply?

Narrator: You can apply for SSI at a Social Security office

or by calling 1-800-772-1213.

As an administrator, you have access to several tools within Profound that easily help you

monitor and manage your users.

Let's take a closer look at these features.

Profound gives you the ability to manage multiple users from your organization.

Within this screen, users may be added and deleted, granted permissions, and have their

passwords be reset.

Check "Allow E-mail" to allow the user to be able to send reports from their account,

and "Search Only" to restrict them from purchasing reports.

The "Manage Chargeback Code Formats" tab allows you to manage chargeback codes specific

to your organization.

Here you can toggle whether chargeback codes are required, and customize how chargeback

codes are generated.

"Reports and Reporting" lets you review each user's activity and what reports they

have downloaded.

Once you've entered the search criteria, Profound returns a table of each report or

slice the user has purchased and all information pertaining to that purchase.
