once again the stakes are high
cheesesteak high. you're about to witness a
monster 24-inch Chiefs big challenge we
are in the san jose area about to feast
on a beast coming in at two feet long
this hot sandwich is definitely no
laughing matter it serves an a pillowy
freshly baked roll with grilled steak
provolone cheese mushrooms and onion if
you finish it all in an hour you get a
free shirt and a $35 refund no fanfare
no BSF Stalin let's see what this
monster is all about what's up everybody
still in the road still in the bay area
this time tackling a big sandwich full
of meat and cheese I've heard that the
best cue sticks in the world come from
Philadelphia hence the name Philly
cheesesteak unfortunately I've never
been to Philadelphia or Pennsylvania for
that matter so I have to make do with
cheese steaks in California a cali
cheesesteak just doesn't have the same
ring to it though making a cheese steak
is more assembly line than high cuisine
you cook some steak on a flat griddle
brown some vegetables of the meat
usually onions and mushrooms maybe
peppers and you stuff it all inside a
freshly baked amorosa roll then you
drizzle some cheese on top and watch the
whole thing get all steamy and melty I'm
getting hungry just thinking about it
you got to admit the cheese sticks in a
bit on the fancy side a big step above
peanut butter or tuna salad it gives you
the joy of steak and the sexiness of
cheese wraps up in a simple brilliance
of a sandwich it suks those moments when
you want to be sophisticated without
being snobby
have you ever had an authentic
cheesesteak I've heard that what make
cheese steaks authentic are those really
Airy amoroso rolls sandwich I'm eating
here actually came on one of the
freshest and most pillowy roles I've
ever eaten in my life the steak was
delicious and juicy and tender but what
made this a select experience for me was
that damn bread it was so enjoyable to
bite into and chew I made sure to tell
the server and manager that before I
left their fresh rolls definitely left a
mark on me so you're probably a little
disappointed by now I kept talking about
a two-foot cheesesteak and 24 inches of
sandwich and you can easily see that I'm
eating four separate sandwiches here
well I was disappointed too when my food
came out I expected to see a spectacular
humongous yardstick of a sandwich but
instead I was given four sandwiches that
were six inches long and plenty thick
don't go there so you still end up with
24 inches of sandwich if you line them
up and two ends the visual effect is
ruined though when the four sandwiches
and separate baskets made them look even
less imposing
the only thing that makes them seem the
least bit intimidating as how sick they
were they were some of the sickest
sandwiches I've ever eaten for a food
challenge and just think the only thing
inside the buns were steak cheese onions
and mushrooms nothing else these things
weren't pumped up with lettuce or
mayonnaise or tomatoes or anything else
that people use to make normal
sandwiches look large they were pumped
up stuffed with beef and cheese a combo
of hard-hitting protein and fat the buns
are really fluffy too so that didn't
make things any easier but it did make
them tastier and totally car malicious
the only thing that few things were
missing with a strong dose of fruits and
vegetables and we would have had an
awesomely balanced it's oversized meal
so what were we fighting for today a
free meal and a t-shirt that seems to be
the standard of water when it comes to
ninety percent of restaurant eating
challenges the two-foot sandwich costs
thirty-five dollars plus tax you're
looking at nearly a forty dollar bill if
you can't finish this one plus t-shirt
is always a cool souvenir something to
remember the place by and that doubles
as clothing if you can't find anything
else to wear that day of course when you
think about it taking our food
challenges for the free meal is
ridiculous no one really needs to eat as
much and beyond a certain point you're
just putting a strain on your body to
eat and digest it all in the long run
the weight gain and the other health
impacts from overeating may end up
costing you more than the food would
have we can also talk about and discuss
the cost of transportation says most of
the time you'll notice that food
challenges like myself seem to travel
far and wide and take on challenges so
it's really more about the thrill of the
chase the joy of the hunt more so than
about getting a free meal or two
sometimes it's important to remember
that everyone's hobby no matter what it
is comes with a price tag gamers and
money on video games runners spend money
on shoes weight lifters spend their
money on protein supplements and
competitive eaters spend money on food
that is least seems simple enough let's
get back to the challenge at hand what
you're watching on the screen while it
was a joy to eat there nevertheless
comes a point when you've had enough and
your mind wants you to stop that's the
law of diminishing returns in full
effect you ultimately get less and less
satisfaction from every bite and finally
you cross the threshold and every by it
becomes increasingly painful from then
on that's what eating becomes work and
see has finally found a way to make
economics connect with competitive
eating I ate the first three sandwiches
with pure joy but the fourth one was
when I realized I was satiated I
couldn't stop because the challenge
wasn't collaborate yet I needed to eat
all for bulky sandwiches to claim
victory leaving even a single bite
behind would have been unacceptable no
way was I going to come this far and
piss forty dollars for a few bites of
sandwich what lay in front of me was
small potatoes compared to what I had
already vanquished
right now I want to do something I don't
usually do I'd like to take a moment to
reflect on my time on YouTube as a maker
videos and what the future holds for me
the only goal had ever really set for
myself was to reach 100,000 subscribers
and almost reach that incredible
milestone I want to say thank you to
every one of you that's been a part of
this journey and made this thing
possible take him back to my time in
grade school when I was a shy kid in the
back of the classroom it's hard to
believe just how much I've change in how
far I've come the ability to entertain
you of my videos has been deeply
transformative I don't think of myself
as a competitive either anymore but
rather is someone who makes videos about
the same T love including food travel
friends and trying new things thank you
for supporting me on the journey and
allow me to explore new ideas and
activities I have no plans to stop
making videos stick with me and I
promise you'll see a lot more before I
showed off my video camera for the last
time
and those last why it's always seemed to
take forever don't they and then the
last one gone boom goes the dynamite
another delicious challenge conquered
another sweet victory in the history
books hit that like button if you
enjoyed the video and share with a
friend who loves cheese steaks and crazy
eating challenges I will see all of you
in the next video I got more videos from
the Bay Area coming up real soon until
next time stay in school they'll do the
drugs meet like a free
