How much protein you need [for muscle growth and recovery]? What is the

optimal dose? So many people get this

wrong because there's a trick to it -we

are going to solve it starting right now!

What is going on my name is David Barr [CSCS, CISSN, RSCC]

if you're looking to get bigger faster

stronger, get leaner, go longer hit that

subscribe and then the little bell, so

you don't miss the latest tips and

tricks. Today we're talking everybody's

favorite topic protein protein timing

dosing all that kind of thing today we

are actually focusing on the dosing

acute dosing not the dosing over the

course of a day but how much protein you

need how much is optimal to stimulate

maximal protein synthesis that's that

growth, adaptation, recovery response that

we're all after how much protein do we

need to optimize that effect real quick

if you're a subscriber stay tuned to the end, I

got your next step to optimize your

muscle growth and fat loss I was so into

this answer that I actually picked on my

life moved to Texas to study muscle

protein synthesis figure out the optimal

dose of protein nutrient timing all of

that kind of thing and it was actually

one of my mentors dr. Kevin Tipton

recently published a study showing that

if you're using whole body workouts you

actually need more protein to optimize

that protein synthetic response so go up

to 30 40 grams whey protein is going to

be what you're after if you're using

whole body workout now the trick to this

is one we would study muscle protein

synthesis we would have the subjects

fasted overnight so we'd have them stay

in a hospital wing overnight that way we

would control their feeding their timing

their sleeping all of that and it wasn't

a trick we weren't trying to skew the

data or anything like that it was just

to control the variables control as much

as possible because studying protein

synthesis is very tricky we have to

puncture arteries and infuse all kinds

of stuff it's potentially dangerous if

you don't know what you're doing which

is why we do in the hospital wing but

the key is we have to have the subjects

protein fasted so there is a baseline

there in a catabolic state when we start

again the key is to optimize protein

synthesis to control the variables

because the way we study protein

synthesis it's really insensitive

technique so you look at significant

findings statistically significant fine

and just not optimal because you need a

huge data set and it's again just not

really really sensitive so earlier

studies showing optimal dosing about 20

grams 25 grams but again keep in mind

that is not a sensitive measure so I

would have a minimum of 25 grams of fast

protein like a whey protein right upon

waking or if I am at a protein fasted

state like if I'm CrIT loading for

example after my workout the timing

doesn't matter I talked about this in

other videos a link to that in the top

right and the description but the trick

is if you're training whole body

workouts and your fasted you're going to

need a higher protein dose so I go with

a minimum of 30 grams because again it's

not a sensitive measure I never want to

go below the maximum dose and that's a

key that most people miss out on so if I

hit 20 25 grams based on the research

not knowing that hey if you're actually

training more you have more muscle mass

you're probably going to need more

protein right and that's exactly what

one of my lab mentor shows dr. Kevin

Tipton in his lab showed more muscle

being trained the more protein you're

going to need at a single dose but again

this is protein fasted so here's a trick

if you have consumed the meal of like

casein or like a steak or some slow

absorbing protein slow digesting protein

having more protein within a few hours

isn't going in that ok this gets into

something called anabolic density I'll

talk about that in other videos I talked

about that my first two books called the

anabolic index and the reality is

proteins digest absorb at different

rates so that dosing is going to change

the dosing to optimize your protein

synthetic response I don't see people

talk about this and that's a problem

because it means we're not optimizing

our protein dosing so real quick I want

to hear from you what type of protein

dosing are using how much are you having

per serving how much you having per day

let me know in the comments below

here's a bonus tip for you talk about

this in my first textbook chapter

co-authored with dr. Josh gauger great

textbook doctors Lonny Lowery Joey

Antonio vias ascend Fame I don't make

any money off this but this is a great

resource the idea of using leucine that

nutraceutical effect of leucine to

optimize muscle protein synthesis you

only need a couple grams to

but keep in mind though leucine is not

going to sustain muscle protein

synthesis it only starts it's like the

key turning the engine into a car

doesn't keep the car running right you

need the gas for that that's where the

rest of the amino acids come in the rest

of your essentials especially but the

leucine can kick off muscle protein

synthesis a couple grams of leucine

you'll be fine

check out the BCA video I did

branched-chain amino acids I'll link to

that in the top right and the

description because right now people are

using the leucine and BCA's and they're

broken they just don't work as much as

we love them they just don't work so I

have three potential tips based on my

own lab research might help us fix that

so I've given you a lot of info here so

what's the summary how much protein do I

need well again it's going to depend on

the individual but you probably can't go

wrong if you're a healthy individual and

you're not in a caloric deficit so your

you caloric topping out 30 to 40 grams

at 40 grams at the high end if you are

protein fasted and you're doing a whole

body workout you're just going to need

more protein after that workout

otherwise 30 grams is fine if you have a

low and ballek density protein like a kc

you can go a little higher so 60 grams

is going to be fine

40 is going to be sufficient to actually

block the catabolism overnight again

late to my casein video in the top right

in the description if you're not using

kc is one of the most anabolic

supplements that we have people are just

not using enough SLO protein overnight

people think that nighttime sleep is our

most damp all the time that's a myth we

need to destroy that one so check out

the casein video for more on that so

here's your bonus tip not only do we

study people when their protein faster

but the other mistake people make is

that it's going to be about your total

protein intake per day so again if

you're an eclair ik deficit you're going

to need more total protein if you're

training whole body you're going to need

more short-term protein so again up to

about 40 grams but if you're just doing

regular you caloric diet your training

heavy focus more on your total daily

protein intake we'll talk about that in

other videos otherwise just make sure

you're not protein faceted feed

overnight with the casein whatever slow

protein you like and make sure you're

not fasting for too long in the morning

other than crit loading which we talked

about in other videos

so there is your protein dose all 30 to

40 grams but focus on that long-term

dosing thanks for watching, I'm David

Barr, until next time Raise the Barr

Renee Fleming: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com - Duration: 12:59.

Renee Fleming: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

Renee Fleming is an American professional opera singer.

She was asked to perform at Senator John McCain's funeral.

The late senator personally made the choice to ask Fleming to perform several weeks before he passed away from brain cancer.

Here's what you need to know.

Fleming Was Asked to Sing 'Danny Boy,' One of Senator McCain's Favorite Songs.

Before he died, Senator John McCain reportedly enjoyed sitting on the front porch listening to the ancient Irish song "Danny Boy." The famous tune appeared to be a comfort to him as he battled brain cancer.

(McCain and wife Cindy both have Irish ancestry).

CNN reported that during one of these listening sessions, his former campaign manager Rick Davis was sitting there with him.

McCain commented that he wanted "Danny Boy" sung at his funeral.

Davis suggested opera singer Renee Fleming would be the perfect person to sing it.

McCain reportedly teared up at the idea, and Davis formally asked Fleming if she would do it.

Fleming said she was "touched" by the request.

She and McCain had met once before, when she performed at the Al Smith dinner during the 2008 presidential campaign.

She told CNN it was an honor to be asked to sing at the senator's funeral.

"He stood so much for the American values that I certainly treasured growing up; for independent thinking, for collaboration and that extraordinary work ethic.".

Fleming has been singing the traditional ballad her entire life.

She says he first fell in love with "Danny Boy" as a child.

The soprano singer included the song on her album "Guilty Pleasures," which was recorded with the Philharmonia Orchestra.

She said in an interview in 2013 that the song reminds her of her father.

Fleming also performed the ballad at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, during the American Voices Concert in 2015.

You can watch that performance in the video above.

Fleming Had to Get Permission to Miss a Performance From Her Broadway Director, in Order to Perform at McCain's Funeral.

Renee Fleming said she had to ask permission from her boss to sing at John McCain's funeral.

She is starring in Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Carousel" and missing a show is no small request.

But she said the director quickly agreed.

Fleming has been bestowed with many awards, including four Grammys, but "Carousel" was actually her very first Broadway show.

Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Carousel" originally debuted in 1945 and was a hit with audiences.

It was also reportedly the pair's personal favorite show they had written.

"Carousel" made its return to the Broadway stage on April 12th, 2018 at the Imperial Theatre.

Fleming told CBS This Morning that as an opera singer, Broadway was never on her radar.

But when the producer and director reached out to offer her the role of Nettie Fowler, she decided to give it a try.

"I wasn't aspiring to take on new worlds.

It came out of the blue and the timing seemed right.".

Fleming described the transition from opera to Broadway as being "massive" because Broadway shows use microphones.

In opera, microphones are not used.

She says the presence of that technology is what allows singers to perform eight shows per week on the Broadway stage, as opposed to opera singers that can only sing maximum three times per week.

Fleming described opera singers as being the "power lifters of singing.".

Known as 'America's Go-To Diva,' Fleming Has Performed at Several Events Important to the Public, Including a 9/11 Memorial, an Inauguration and a Super Bowl.

Renee Fleming has been a consistent presence on the American stage at important events.

As the nation mourned on the one-year anniversary of the September 11th attacks, Fleming provided comfort with her voice.

She sang the classic "You'll Never Walk Alone" during "The Concert for America 2002," which was broadcast nationwide from the John F.

Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

In 2009, Fleming was asked to sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" for President Obama's inauguration concert, at the Lincoln Memorial.

Three years later, President Obama bestowed Fleming with the National Medal of Arts.

Fleming also made history in the world of sports.

In 2014, she became the first opera singer to perform the national anthem at a Super Bowl.

She sang the anthem before Super Bowl 48, backed up by an armed forced chorus.

The Washington Post wrote at the time that Fleming was appearing as an "ambassador" of sorts, because a majority of the American public is not regularly exposed to opera.

The reaction from viewers was overwhelmingly positive.

Renee Fleming Began Singing Opera Professionally While Still a Student at Juilliard, and More Recently Has Been Featured on Major Motion Picture Soundtracks.

Renee Fleming was born February 14, 1959 in Pennsylvania.

But she spent most of her childhood in the small village of Churchville, near Rochester, New York.

Music was prominent in the house because both of her parents were music teachers.

Fleming honed her skills at the prestigious performing arts school Juilliard in New York City.

She began singing professionally while still a student.

In addition to English, Fleming is also fluent in German and French.

She also has Italian skills, but says she never fully conquered that language.

She got her start by singing in smaller venues and lesser known opera companies throughout the 1980s.

But she became more well-known in 1988, when she won the Metropolitan Opera Auditions at age 29.

The annual competition is meant to help young singers gain exposure in the industry.

Fleming's career took off from there.

She performed with the Houston Grand Opera later that year in the Marriage of Figaro.

In 1989, she appeared with the New York City Opera for the first time.

Fleming performed the role of Mimi in the hit show La Bohème (the hit Broadway show RENT is loosely based on La Boheme).

(You can see more about Fleming's opera career and numerous awards here).

In recent years, movie fans have also been exposed to Renee Fleming's extraordinary voice, though they may not have known it.

She sang on the soundtrack for the blockbuster hit movie Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

She sang in the language used by the movie's elves for the hauntingly beautiful song Twilight and Shadow.

She also contributed her voice to the soundtracks's songs The End of All Things and The Return of the King.

In 2018, Fleming sang You'll Never Know for the soundtrack to The Shape of Water, which won the Oscar for Best Picture.

Fleming Has Been Married Twice and Raised Two Daughters.

Renee Fleming married actor Rick Ross in 1989, right as her opera career was really taking off.

They met while they were both attending Juilliard.

They had two daughters: Amelia was born in 1992 and Sage followed in 1995.

But the marriage unraveled in the late 1990s, and was finalized in 2000.

Her daughters have traveled all over the world with their mother.

A 2012 article in NJ.com stated that Fleming insisted on having Amelia and Sage with her whenever possible.

But she was less adamant that they follow her footsteps and become singers.

She told the website, "We've had the discussion.

Randolph Hollerith: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com - Duration: 9:44.

Randolph Hollerith: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

Randolph Marshall Hollerith, Dean of the Washington National Cathedral, will be playing a significant role in John McCain's funeral service today.

According to the official program, he will be giving the welcome at the beginning, the Collect for Burial, the Prayer for Those Who Grieve, the Commendation, and the Dismissal at the end.

Here is what you need to know about Randy Hollerith.

He's an American Episcopal Priest Who Was Named the 11th Dean of the Washington National Cathedral in 2016.

Hollerith, an American Episcopal priest, was named the 11th Dean of the Washington National Cathedral in August 2017.

The National Washington Cathedral is the seat of the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church.

It's known as a national church that is dedicated to serving the entire country.

The Cathedral is the sixth largest cathedral in the world and the second largest in the U.S., Newsweek reported.

Hollerith said in a statement about the Cathedral: "The cathedral is not only a place of immense beauty and grandeur, but it plays an important role in proclaiming the reconciling love of Christ within this city and around our country.

Hollerith graduated from St.

Stephen's and St.

Agnes School in Alexandria, Virginia, Denison University.

His Master of Divinity is from Yale Divinity School.

Before his current position as dean of the Washington National Cathedral, Hollerith was rector of St.

James' Episcopal Church for 16 years.

While there, according to Saint Judes, he doubled the parish budget, expanded the church's outreach ministries, and helped grow the largest mission program in the Diocese of Virginia.

Before St.

James, Hollerith was rector of St.

Peter's Episcopal Church in Savannah, Georgia and assistant rector of St.

Stephen's Episcopal Church in Richmond.

Hollerith's Great Grandmother Witnessed Teddy Roosevelt Lay the Cathedral's Foundation Stone.

Hollerith grew up in Alexandria, Virginia.

As a boy, he often visited the Washington National Cathedral as a boy, Saint Judes shared.

His great grandmother witnessed President Theodore Roosevelt lay the foundation stone for the Cathedral in 1907.

Randy Hollerith's Wife, Melissa Hollerith, Is Also an Episcopal Priest.

Hollerith's wife, Melissa Hollerith, is also an Episcopal priest.

She's chaplain of St.

Christopher's School in Richmond, Virginia, Saint Judes reported.

In 2015, the Obama White House sent her an invitation to welcome Pope Francis to the United States during his first full day in the country.

It was in response to a letter she wrote the White House after she was touched by then-President Barack Obama's eulogy for Rev.

Clementa Pinckney, one of the nine people shot and killed at Charleston's Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Richmond Magazine reported.

He Urged Readers to Challenge Oppression & Confront Injustice Just Like MLK.

In March, Hollerith wrote that Rev.

Martin Luther King Jr.'s last sermon was just as relevant today as it was in 1968, United Methodist Insight shared.

He wrote: "His words delivered that Sunday morning are as alive and relevant today as they were a half-century ago.

And they have helped shape this cathedral's work on social justice and racial reconciliation ever since." He shared how King urged the people hearing his sermon to not yield to the temptation to wait for someone else to do the hard work or put themselves on the line.

"King's challenge to the cathedral in 1968 feels eerily relevant today," Hollerith wrote.

"On issues of gun violence, racism, economic inequality or immigration, our human instinct is to not offend.

We wait for others to act.

We prefer to hit the snooze button than to remain, as King said, 'awake through a great revolution.' But as Christians, we follow a man, Jesus, who never took the easy way out.

Jesus did not censor himself for fear of retribution.

He challenged the institutional oppression of his day, and calls us to confront the injustices of our own time.".

Hollerith Led the National Prayer Service after Trump's Inauguration, But Has Spoken Out Against Trump on Numerous Occasions Since.

Hollerith led the national prayer service at the Washington National Cathedral the day after President Donald Trump's inauguration in January 2016.

He explained to Newsweek that this wasn't so much a prayer service for the President as it was for the entire nation.

Since that day, Hollerith has spoken out against Trump on a number of occasions, Newsweek shared.

A week after the prayer service, he condemned an executive order to end a refugee resettlement program.

He wrote: "Trump's actions are a challenge to the conscience of all Americans and people of goodwill.

This deeply troubling action is grounded in paranoia and fear of the stranger, and threatens to fracture families and unfairly penalize millions of innocent people.

It is as un-American as it is un-Christian.".

Then in May 2016, he criticized an order that sought not to penalize religious entities engaging in political activity.

And in June, he spoke about the troubling gun violence epidemic.

In July, he criticized a decision by Trump to ban transgender service members from the military, saying that did not advance Christian values.

After the Charlottesville tragedy, he said the nation was failing to take the "cancer of white supremacy" seriously.

Mariann Budde: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com - Duration: 6:05.

Mariann Budde: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

The Right Rev.

Mariann Edgar Budde is playing a key role in John McCain's funeral today.

She is leading the Anthems in Procession, the Concluding Prayer, the Commendation, and the Blessing.

Here is what you need to know about Budde.

She Was Elected Washington's First Female Diocesan Bishop.

Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde is the diocesan bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington.  In 2011, she was consecrated as the ninth Bishop of Washington in the Washington National Cathedral.

She was elected as Washington's first female diocesan bishop.

Before this, she served 18 years as rector of St.

John's Episcopal Church in Minneapolis.

She got her undergraduate degree at the University of Rochester, and her Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from the Virginia Theological Seminary.

She also wrote  Gathering up the Fragments: Preaching as Spiritual Practice.

One of her more recent sermons at the Washington National Cathedral was on Christmas Eve 2017.

In an article for the Episcopale Diocese of Washington, she spoke about the question of whether the world really needs more Christian leaders.

She wrote: "The sad truth is that being a religious people in no way assures that we will be good people, kind, caring, generous, loving people, although that's what every one of our faith traditions–and speaking as a Christian, certainly what I know Jesus wants those who feel called to follow him–to be.

We are all far more complicit in the evils and  hypocrisies we decry than we are comfortable admitting.

There's a gap between the aspirations of our faith and how most of live; for some, the gap is so wide as to create havoc and cruelty around them, all in the name of a loving God. Yes, it's enough to make people of conscience and goodwill want to walk away or to stay away from religion entirely.

Or to go deeper.

To walk with even greater intention and commitment to personal and societal transformation that every spiritual tradition known to humankind calls us to.".

She's Happily Married to Paul Budde & Loves Outdoor Adventures.

According to her Facebook page, she's happily married to Paul Budde.

Her Facebook also reveals that she loves outdoor adventures.

She recently shared a post about how much fun she had in New Foundland thanks to Pedal and Sea Adventures.

She told The Washington Post that her perfect day in D.C.

would involve spending the day on her bicycle.

She likes to bike through Rock Creek Park, the Capital Crescent Trail, and bike to work when she can.

She Speaks Out on Political Issues, Such as Supporting Immigrants Separated from Their Families.

Budde isn't afraid to speak out on certain political issues.

She shared a reading list from former President Barack Obama on Facebook and has also spoken out about immigrants who are separated from their families at the border.

She Has Spoken Highly of John McCain Since He Passed.

Budde has spoken with praise about John McCain since he passed.

She tweeted about how McCain forgave his captors and spoke well of his enemies.

Reflection - an orignial song - Duration: 5:27.

Nooooo

Alright

As you can see, my room is decently clean

But WAIT!

I just pushed everything to this side of the room, where the camera is not able to see it... hopefully

Today, I'm playing a song that I wrote about....

2 years ago now

*guitar*

you've got a way with your words,

that I can't comprehend

and I wanna walk away,

but it seems like I can't stand on my own without you….

I don't want your help,

but your poison makes me need you

I know you hurt me,

but I wanna believe that you want the best for me

you're a parasite

A virus in my soul

You infect my flesh and blood and bones

Don't tell me what I don't already know

Don't tell me what I don't already-

listen to my screams,

they're calling out for your affection

looking back at me

I'm scared that you are my reflection

Despite the way you fabricate perfection

Despite the way you mess with my complexion

I'm crazy for you...

*guitar*

You've got a way with your hips,

can't resist your pale lips

When I'm lost in my thoughts,

you give me sweet relief

You're the flaw in reality

I want it to be true, but you make it a fallacy

Give me inflection,

'cause the line on the screen is direct and never-ending

you're my savior

the love that keeps me low

I'm addicted to your ebbs and flows

Don't tell me what I don't already know

Don't tell me what I don't already-

listen to my screams,

they're calling out for your affection

looking back at me

I'm scared that you are my reflection

Despite the way you fabricate perfection

Despite the way you mess with my complexion...

listen to my scream,

I'm suffering from your affection

looking back at me

I regret making you my reflection

Despite the way you fabricate perfection

Despite the way you messed with my complexion

I'm crazy for you…

Noooo!

Tania Saleh - Every Time You Go (Toda Vez Que Você Vai) كل ما تروح - تانيا صالح - Duration: 4:24.

Every time you go

Flowers lose their scent

Their soul, their color

Every time you go

My house is barely a room or two

They suddenly become vast

And the bird is out of tune

Every time you go

In my heart a hurtful feeling

In my mind a worrisome thought

Heartache and headache

Every time you go

So why should you go, why should you go my love?

So why should you go, why should you go my love?

I know how much I love you

And I remember your kind heart

I value this precious love

Every time you go

Promise me you won't forget me

And let me remain the special one

And stay online

Every time you go

In my heart a hurtful feeling

In my mind a worrisome thought

Heartache and headache

Every time you go

So why should you go, why should you go my love?

So why should you go, why should you go my love?

So why should you go, why should you go my love?

So why should you go, why should you go my love?

So why should you go, why should you go my love?

So why should you go, why should you go

My love...

Mercedes-Benz Craftsmanship and Engineering Protect You Wherever You Go | #MyMBEW - Duration: 2:10.

And I have Mercedes-Benz to thank

for saving my family's life in an accident.

So a few years back

you know about many years back when I was in highschool

my Dad actually bought a 2007 silver

Convertible CLK 63 AMG

just a beautiful machine

V8, naturally aspirated

just an absolute beautiful machine

and one vacation

my family and I decided to go on a trip to the Okanagan

I actually ended up coming back home because I was a bit love sick

but my family ended up driving back

and what ended up happening was

my Dad ended up hydroplaning on

one of the main roads coming home from BC

they ended up going over the cliff

so as terrifying as that sounds

I had a completely different picture in my head as what happened

and what ended up happening was

they ended up walking away from the accident

they rolled off the cliff

and just completely totalled the car

they ended up walking away with

a couple of scratches and bruises

I think my Dad had a sprained wrist

It just goes to show you

the craftsmanship in these Mercedes-Benz

and the engineering behind everything that

these vehicles truly are the safest vehicles in the world

and to this day my Dad has a

2009, and he just bought this

a 2009 SL 65 AMG hardtop convertible

with the Rentech package and it's just an absolute beautiful car

and I hope that one day maybe you can share your experience

with Mercedes-Benz

So my Dad ended up buying a new car

he ended up buying a 2009 silver SL 65 AMG hardtop convertible

and this thing had the Rentech package

800 horsepower

800 pound foot torque

This thing was an absolute beast!

Honestly, he will never go to anything else

other than a Mercedes-Benz
