Hi there! my name is Erin

I'm here today to teach you

unit 3: pronomalization

number 1: ASL pronouns

what does it mean?

pronouns define a person, place or thing.

let me give you an example.

a woman, or "she"

could mean she's Mary, the queen of England or a mother

the list goes on.

ASL pronouns are as followed:

1st is Me or I

2nd is He or She

3rd is It

4th is There

Last is Here

Remember for four of the pronouns, you need to establish an index

For example, I would first say "my friend Tom", then point.

Number 2: Honorific Pronouns

or, formal pronouns

First, is introducing yourself (My name is Erin)

Second, is introducing another person (my friend Jeff)

Number 3: Plural Pronouns

are listed as-

oops! before I start, did you know

if you are talking about people that are present

versus people that are NOT present

that it's a different sign?

for example:

The sign for the word "WE"

suppose you're talking about people NOT present, then it's like this

if people ARE present, it goes like this

more plural nouns are:

1st: us two, 2nd: you two, 3rd: those two

number 4: Reflective / emphatic pronouns

when using this pronoun you use your "thumbs-up hand"

1st: Myself, 2nd: Ourselves, 3rd: Yourselves and Myself

Remember, if you're describing people that are not present

you need to establish an index

Number 5: Spatial Location

There are 3 "rules" to this part of the lesson.

number 1: when talking about a pronoun

if you choose one location with that index

you should not change it.

Rule number 2:

Once you've established your index

remember that location.

if the location changes in your story,

it should be changed because your index moves

For example,

if "J" is moving away to California in one week

And in one week he flies out

and then arrives in California (his location changed)

Rule number 3 (last one)

when describing a story

it's good to think ahead, or have a "mental overview"

Almost the same as looking at a map.

and know where your indexes will be.

That's all for my lesson!

Thanks for watching!

Again, my name is Erin.

In lifetimes before

And I promise you never

Will you hurt anymore

And with this vow Forever has now begun

Just close your eyes each loving day And know this feeling
