Escaping the Ranch - Bulls and Us - Duration: 16:06.

Hi I'm Mike working on the ranch can be a job that can take up a lot of your

time and if you aren't careful it can take up all your time that's why it's

important for us to find time for ourselves our kids and our marriage

sometimes you have to escape on our Wyoming life

welcome back and thanks for joining us as we continue to explore the ranch life

and escape the ordinary please subscribe and help us continue the journey with

you there always seems to be something that needs done around here if you

follow the project list on Tuesdays you know that all too well but on the ranch

we not only grow calves and cows and grass and gardens but we also seem to

cultivate work it's all around us and it never seems to end each and every day

there's more work to be done but there is a big danger in ranching of burning

yourself out recently we just moved past a big hurdle of the year and we sold

cows we have a little bit of a break and we get a chance to get a bunch of little

small jobs down around here until we need to pray check the cows and see who

is pregnant and who isn't when we do that we'll also vaccinate deworm but

this little lull gives us a chance to reconnect and stay close as a family the

kids are a very important part of that everybody tells me to enjoy them while

you can some day you'll wake up and they'll be going off to college and I

wholeheartedly believe that that's why I really don't have a problem stopping

work to go to the park or just play with them in the yard but another part of the

family is made up of just Aaron and I we started this whole mess together and

together we're gonna get through it but still just like taking the kids to the

park or taking time out of your day to reconnect with them occasionally Aaron

and I have to take time to reconnect with each other and sometimes that takes

a little bit of help from our friends hi I'm Nick and I'm Stephanie and we're

kidnapping Mike and Aaron for a night out in the town and the town is a little

ways away from us they don't get a break very often so we're gonna take them out

and have a good time and we'll see what happens

before we can get that far though we have to do some chores even though we're

only gonna be gone for a little over 24 hours there are the animal

that require daily attention they're gonna be missing that attention while

we're gone since we're only gonna be gone for a day I'm not calling on a

neighbor to come and do chores while I'm gone our neighbor Gary will drive by and

make sure everything looks okay but we should be able to set up everybody with

an extra days worth of food and water to get them through we have a few hours

before our kidnappers arrive so we're gonna start with the pigs and get them

set up temperatures are supposed to be above freezing while we're gone

so water isn't an issue with them but they will need food they like a bunch of

dwell pigs and giving them a few extra bags won't hurt our feeder will actually

hold about 200 pounds of food that gives them 20 pounds apiece to make it through

the day that should work and it should keep them happy the chicken should be

okay as well with about 200 pounds of food in their feeder but it's the bowls

that are gonna give us the most problem this morning jumping on a four-wheeler

to check on them we find a bull out in the ditch on the highway it's not good

or unlikely he'll stay in the ditch he'll eat the grass that's still growing

there but there is the chance that he could wander into traffic and that would

end very badly how did he get out well that's a good

question one that we hope that he will answer himself

I found that cows and bulls have a pretty good memory

although they don't think about the repercussions of what that memory may

cause rather than try to take this four-year-old bull back down and around

and through the gate back into the bowl pasture

we're gonna push him along the fence he knows where he got out and he'll more

likely go back through that exact same spot and go back through it to get back

to where he belongs he knows he's in trouble and soon enough

he gives up his secret escape point so that we can go fix it after he's back

where he's supposed to be then we can grab a couple of bales of hay to feed

these guys while we're gone also it'll keep them occupied while we fix the

fence so it's off to grab the tractor and a couple of bales

then into the bowl pasture the Bulls live in here all fall winter and most of

the spring this time of the year they're pretty docile they've already finished

all their work for the year and now all they worry about is eating and they eat

a lot a full-grown bull will eat about 50 pounds of hay per day these bales way

right around 1,400 pounds so these two bales should last them about five days

of peace maybe all they really have to do is eat Wi-Fi is no good over here and

they have no thumbs to play video games so they eat one Bale is rolled out the

other ones placed in the feeder and midnight our alpha ball keeps a close

watch over what's going on and hopefully we'll keep the other guys in line until

we get back to that fence over to the horses who would on like a bale also and

a little bit of love after grabbing some fencing supplies it's back to the fence

this fence is a royal pain in my behind the bull pasture borders the highway

which the state of Wyoming technically owns making it the state's fence each

year they're supposed to inspect it and maintain it each year they say it's fine

and each year we have a bull that figures out how to get out and each year

I end up fixing it as you can see the rest of the fence in the bull pasture

we've beefed up a bit to keep the Bulls in they don't go through our fence but

they always know how to get through this one some staples are replaced some extra

fence what is wired up and hopefully we're good to go

Aaron's been waiting for me in the house and it's not long before Nick and

Stephanie arrive the kids will be staying at Aaron's mom's while we're

gone and soon we're on the road headed about 150 miles away

to Rapid City South Dakota Rapid City has a population of around 75,000 people

and as we get closer the traffic becomes something that US folks from the country

don't deal with much and stop on the interstate knew it was

coming obviously Nick calms down a bit and

eventually we make our way into downtown and our hotel and the first chance to

toast just a taste of freedom from the ranch while we're here we stroll the

City Rapid City is primarily a city for tourism in South Dakota with Mount

Rushmore close by it's the destination of millions of people each year for us

it's just a chance to get away I mean our first stop is an adventure in an

escape room if you've never been to an escape room before I actually recommend

it it's more fun than you think it would be the premise is this you get locked in

a room and you have to solve a series of problems to get out one clue leads to

the next and eventually the exit a dead man's hand will lead you through the

bookcase to easily escape Jack's camp

that's only yeah that thing's not attached

I think and when one clues gonna lead I light up their bottle of booze there's

Scrabble letters well what to say gold to pay come to me I'm gonna leave Oh

more money says Wild Bill I love you I can see through your mental impairments

the wonderful man you are I don't even care that you cheat from under the table

all the bullets around the bar to make sure no one has chanced to shoot you on

the way out with all of the bullets taken blues or rattan

one room leads to the next where more puzzles await our puzzle centers around

the murder of Wild Bill Hickok and the escape of his killer

Jack McCall we need to escape through the butcher and hopefully make it out

within the one-hour allotted

I really didn't think it would be that hard that was the easy work now it's not

done and after a visit to the oldest bar at Rapid City for a drink it's time to

turn the cameras off and time for Aaron and I to head out and enjoy ourselves

for the rest of the night

the next day of little hungover we head out again still sticking close

to downtown finding an alley of artworks set aside by the city for artists from

the area to tag and use as one of the largest and proudly most legal canvases

I've ever seen Aaron finds an olive oil store and spends a bunch of time

perusing the hundreds of different types of cooking oils here this is probably a

lot of what Aaron's heaven looks like and smells like for our final stop of

the day it's off to go-karts something I've been waiting for the whole trip the

escape room was fun but where else can you drive fast and smash into your

friends without someone calling the cops now because of safety concerns they

wouldn't let me strap a camera to my go-kart but you get the picture round

and round for eight minutes at the rate of about a dollar a minute but boy is it

fun Aaron actually won the race with the best time but that ends our 24 hour

vacation and then it's time for the trip back home and back to the ranch where

all looks well nothing appears to have burned down and that's a good thing and

not long after being home it's time to check the animals who have been on their

own for the past 27 hours or so first stop is the Bulls to make sure that

they're all in and where they're supposed to be the horses who still look

happy and high room is still as jealous as or ever over my attention

Aaron's high tunnels are still standing and the cows are not only right where I

left them but they seem to have missed me as they all come over to say hi

the pigs while there still pays and they still have food left and with that I can

park it for the night tomorrow however is another workday on

the ranch and we're now 28 hours behind but I'll take it it's well worth it

so tired okay yeah so we're back home and are you happy to be back home yeah

are you really saw stood it's funny how you can leave on vacation even a little

tiny short vacation and come home and be like I need to sleep

I don't sleep well in hotels either I think I looked at the clock at two

o'clock and I was kind of sleeping and woke up the first time at 5:45

so yes well hi I don't know how long I slept or when I slept but I know I

didn't sleep well so that's just hotels for it yeah what I mean so it's

something that we have to we have to do more of don't you think I agree yeah

it's been a long time like we can't even remember the last time we went on an

adults trip I thought the kids like it might have been before we had kids

before it was probably between Grayson Lincoln yeah it's the best I can

remember it's all a blur and I'm one of the nice things is that you know you and

Stephanie put this whole day the whole thing together but it was also a

vacation for Nick who works just Nicholas's own electrical company so he

works just as hard as we do I think that's why it's nice to go with Nick and

Stephanie because their small business owners and like we like understand that

like you you don't work for somebody else so you work you work more than 40

hours a week you do what you got to do it's you work weekends you work nights

it's you know their job a lot like ours doesn't stop no no you answered his

phone all the drive over yeah so very true all right so that's it for us for

today Aaron's gonna get some rest I'm gonna go make a video and maybe I'll get

some rest eventually but I hope you enjoyed what you saw we you know it's

just a little you know the I didn't think about it but the whole escape room

really tied in to the escape from the ranch it was so much fun the escape room

yeah he was better for you the go-carts of

the escape room escape room really yeah I like the go-kart the escape room was

cool we've done go-karts before right and they were fun they were a blast and

I had the fastest lap you did have the fastest lap Aaron kicked all of our

butts alright so anyway like I said I hope you enjoyed I hope that you can

subscribe click the thumbs up button if you'd like and leave a comment talk

about you know what you guys do to get away from your life because I think that

it is very very much that you have to kind of get away from life reconnect as

a couple and get a get a chance to that fly wants to say it in front of the

camera and then get a chance to you know to reinvigorate everything altameyer

tomorrow tomorrow we'll start that project

alright guys have a great night and even a better week and thanks for joining us

in our Wyoming life

Take Me With You | Episode 8-Twisted City - Duration: 3:36.

-Intro music plays-

Hi friends

So I thought, everyone else is out, uh on a job right now, so I thought I would update you guys on my life

and

what I'm doing

so

after I left the Gas N Go I took a bus to DC proper

and I walked downtown for a bit

pretending like I knew what I was doing

And then I ran into Dodger and we started talking

and, well...

Here I am.

I am at their friend Fiona's apartment

Now, Dodger and Fiona are really nice

but

I don't think they quite trust me yet.

so

yeah

Fiona has her own kind of business, but I don't really know what it's about

no one will really tell me

So

all I know is that she's really smart but very secretive.

-sigh-

I wish they would trust me more.

Have you guys ever had that situation where

you want

someone really badly to like you but you don't know how to get on their good side

-sigh-

so

Yeah, I don't know how that's gonna happen

it's like

crazy

Well, at least I don't have to see Noah again

that's

great -laugh-

Everyone here is so nice and so accepting like I don't want to out anyone on the internet,

but my new roommates

God that feels so good to say

My new roommates are just so accepting and they

you know they know what it's like to be queer and poor and

to, you know, having to fight for life and just be who you are

look!

-sigh-

well

-sigh-

I just wish that they would trust me more. I want to help so badly

I want them to just know

I want to say just like: look take me with you! I want some excitement

But it's so great to have finally real friends to talk to

it's just..

I've never been able to have anything like that and now to have you know, all these nice people

just

so fantastic

and

I dunno

I hope that, um, Dodger and Fiona will put down their walls and let me in and treat me as one of our own

Maybe

Maybe soon I'll have a chance to impress them

-sound of door closing-

Oh, I think someone's home, I should probably turn this off

Nancy: Hey, um, Olive?

Hey

Nancy: Hey!

Nancy: Um, Nancy, remember?

Nancy: What's up?

Hi!

Uh

Nothing, what's up with you? Uh...

Need help with the job?

Actually

Uh, Fiona thinks it's time we start training you

if you're gonna be one of us, there's some things you should know and

gotta make sure you're committed.

Oh, I am!

I'm fully committed

I mean

I don't have anywhere to go anyway

Well, then this is the place to be

alright, so Fiona thinks that we need to-

The Place of God's Delight | Kyle Winkler - Duration: 28:31.

(bright music)

- [Announcer] The following program was paid for

by the friends and partners of Kyle Winkler Ministries.

- We often still live in our own little system of works,

don't we, which is really the source of so much stress.

It's our striving to be accepted by God,

it's our striving to get God's delight

when we're supposed to be working from God's delight.

See Jesus already plowed the field.

(soulful music)

So far we've been looking at things to do

and not do as means of stress relief,

but today I wanna look at something different

which is a place of stress relief.

God has given us a place to go,

it's a place of 24/7 access,

we don't have to RSVP to it, we have a standing invitation,

it's God's getaway, it's a place of R and R with no cost.

And it's the place of God's delight.

That word delight there represents joy

and happiness and peace and satisfaction.

And so today we're gonna look at what and where

that place is, how do we get to the place of God's delight,

and what is in that place anyway.

If you want to know the perfect will of God for our lives,

I think it's best to look back at the creation

before we messed it up with sin.

If you want to see where God wants us

and what He wants us to experience

and what He wants us to enjoy,

we gotta go back to Genesis, back in the garden.

And when you look at Genesis 2,

you might not see it on an initial read through

but there's actually a key in it, there's a word

and I'm gonna show you this word, so make sure

that you're listening closely,

that when you know the meaning of this word

it's going to unpack so much about God's intention for us,

where He wants us to be and what He wants us to experience.

So let me read through starting in Genesis 8

and then I will give you the key

and then we'll unpack it here.

Genesis 2:8 "Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden

in the east, and there He placed the man He had made."

"The Lord God made all sorts of trees grow up

from the ground, trees that were beautiful

and produced delicious fruit."

"In the middle of the garden, He placed the tree of life

and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil."

Verse 10: "a river flowed from the land of Eden,

watering the garden and then dividing it

into four branches."

And then it goes on and describes those four branches

and then in verse 15 it picks back up and it says,

"The Lord God placed the man in the garden of Eden

to tend and watch over it."

So what's so significant about that?

Well, it's the word Eden, the word Eden is the key.

That's what God wants to get us back to.

What do you mean, are we supposed to go take a pilgrimage

to the Middle East to try to find Eden and get back there?

No, because Eden is probably under hundreds of feet of mud

from the flood anyway, so we're not gonna find it,

we're not talking about the physical place.

The key is in what Eden represents.

See all Hebrew words, all Hebrew names

whether it's a person or place represent an identity,

represent who that person is, what that person is,

and Eden comes from the root word that means delight.

It means God's delight, which is found

inside of God's presence.

So when you take that key, delight,

and you reread those verses with that in mind,

replacing Eden with His delight,

it really starts to open up God's intentions for us

and what He wants us to experience in our lives today.

Look at this, "The Lord God planted a garden

in His delight, in His presence, and out of His presence,

there He placed the man that He had made."

So we really have to understand something here,

and this might sound simplistic to some of you,

I don't know, but this is foundation for our Christian lives

that first and foremost we were created

for the presence of God.

Everything that we do for God has to come out of that

and be empowered by the presence of God

and be for and out of the delight of God.

What I do in this ministry for God has to be empowered

by God's presence,

otherwise it's all going to just be a burden.

But when it comes out of His delight,

then it'll be satisfying and it can be refreshing.

You were made to be in relationship

with God first and foremost.

If all you do, if all you are is,

I am a friend of God, that is enough.

"Out of His delight," it continues on,

"the Lord made all sorts of trees grow up from the ground,

trees that were beautiful and produced delicious fruit."

God's presence is the source of all good things.

Adam and Eve were sustained by the nourishment

inside of Eden, and we are sustained, our emotions,

our attitudes, our spiritual lives, our physical lives,

we are sustained when we are in the presence of God

because we were made for the presence of God

so everything in life is not gonna be quite right,

it's not gonna feel quite right

if we aren't in that presence, but when we're in there,

I like to say, the presence of God is like an incubator

for the soul, it develops and it grows us.

All good things come out of the presence of God,

but like spending time with a friend,

for better or worse their personality rubs off

on you over time, right?

That's why the Bible says that "bad company corrupts

good character but those who walk with the wise become wise."

I can show you your destiny by looking

at your five closest friends,

because who you hang with is eventually what you become.

Well, when you hang with God, when you spend time

in God's presence, you get His personality,

it starts to rub off on you, you start to look like God,

you start to talk like God, you start to think like God,

you start to walk like God, you get His delicious fruits,

love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generous, generosity,

self control, and those are all good things

that come out of the presence of God.

But the next one, I love this one, it says,

"A river flowed from His delight, watering the garden

and then dividing it into four branches."

So God's presence is the source of your refreshment.

When you're in it and you get refreshed,

and you get restored, and you get joy, and you get peace,

then it starts to overflow out of you, break out of you,

split out of you so that you can be a refreshment

to people around you.

Remember my story a couple weeks ago when I was telling you

that I was so busy being involved in things for God

that I neglected time with God and what happened?

I got a really sour, pitiful attitude.

I was mad at everybody, and I was just,

it just wasn't a good thing and somebody who knew me

in those days, she had heard this message then,

and she said, "Yeah Kyle, you're right,

in those days you were really a grouch."

And I was, because I spent so much time

doing, doing, doing, doing, doing,

probably trying to prove myself to God,

trying to get more holy, trying to get more spiritual

that I wasn't enjoying His presence one on one time,

so I wasn't being refreshed so I couldn't be refreshment

to other people around me.

So if you're wondering why people are avoiding you

in your life, (chuckles)

why everything's just so sour all the time,

maybe you just need to ask yourself,

are you getting away with God,

are you getting to God's getaway,

are you really enjoying time with Him,

have you carved out time with Him to do that?

And I promise you, and I'm not,

I don't tell how much you have to do, I don't,

you don't want to create any kind of law

on what you have to do, but I can say

if you will get with God,

your attitude will start to turn around

and you will be surprised how people are suddenly attracted

to you because they enjoy being around you,

because God rubs off on you.

And the last point here, "The Lord God placed the man

in His delight to tend over and watch it."

So in God's presence is purpose, there's something to do,

there's something that God tasks us to do,

it's what we looked at in the first of these messages,

there's a grace zone with gifts and callings

that God has put in you and they're not burdensome

because they come out of His presence,

they're empowered by His presence as I said,

and so you do it with God not just for God,

but God is with you and He does the heavy lifting.

But He entrusted to you, there's something to do,

to watch over it, and to tend to it.

You know, getting to where I am today,

to doing what I'm doing now, I had to try a lot of things.

(chuckles) and I tried a lot of things

out of my own strength, you heard me talk

about how I tried being a elementary Sunday school teacher

and that lasted like two months.

I tried street preaching before, I tried handing out tracts,

none of it worked, but what I do today,

which is satisfying to me, came out of nothing less

but day by day time in God's presence.

Where in that time He shared things with me,

He spoke to me, He comforted me, He encouraged me,

gave me things to share, I found my voice,

I found my passion, I found my purpose

because it came out of the presence of God.

As the story goes, Adam and Eve got evicted from Eden

because they sinned, and I'm not gonna go

into the whole story of the fall here,

(congregation chuckles)

but they couldn't be in the presence of God anymore,

and some people will say, well why couldn't they be

in the presence of God anymore?

Well because God's presence wouldn't be so delightful

if you brought in the very things that are dirty

and stressful and trouble into those things, okay?

So He had to protect His presence.

So outside of their presence, in Genesis 3,

when God is saying, here's what's gonna happen now,

now that you are out of Eden, He says,

"All your life you will struggle to scratch a living

from it, it will grow thorns and thistles,

you will eat of its grains.

By the sweat of your brow, you'll have food."

So stress is what happens

when we are outside of God's presence,

but God was not satisfied with this,

so at least He made temporary solution

by where He put His presence inside of an Ark of a Covenant

and then later inside of a temple,

so at least His presence could be among the people

but they couldn't enjoy it 24/7 like they once did.

And so Jesus came, and Jesus came as God's presence

in the flesh, and with His death on that cross,

His atonement for our sins, He spiritually cleansed us,

and when we became cleansed, we became right again

to be back in 24/7 access to God's presence,

and when He yelled "It is finished,"

from that cross, that temple curtain,

that black curtain the Bible says,

which separated God's people from His presence in the temple

it ripped into two, signifying that the spirit of God,

the presence of God was now moving outside of a temple

built with human hands and now into something better,

a temple of His Holy Spirit,

that God was moving to be inside of His people.

Jesus brings us back to Eden, he brings us back to the place

of God's delight so that we can experience

all those good things, we can experience that refreshment,

we can experience that healing, we can experience that peace

that God asked, that provision that Adam and Eve enjoyed

before sin, we can experience that

because we're cleansed in Christ,

because we have the presence of God

now in us with 24/7 access to it.

That ought to make you shout. (chuckles)

And then Jesus said

that one of the benefits of this presence

would be stress relief.

Where's that in the Bible?

You're all looking at me kind of skeptically.

In Matthew 11:28, "Jesus said, 'Come to me,

all you who are weary and heavy burdened,

all you who are stressed, come to me,

and I will give you rest."

It's refreshment, it's restoration,

it's intermission from work.

I experienced this some time ago,

I was writing my first book and folks understand,

I was 29 years old when I was writing this first book,

okay, I was still wet behind the ears,

and I had to write 200 pages and I had to do it

in three and a half months and I just couldn't stop

all my other responsibilities and focus only on that book,

so I had to add it to the list of everything else

that I was doing, I had taken a mission's trip to India,

I was doing videos, I was writing articles,

so about halfway through it,

it was all just getting to be too much,

and I would wake up in the morning filled with anxiety.

I don't know if I can do this, God,

I don't know if I have enough to say,

this is just too much of a burden.

And God spoke through and broke through in that time

with Jesus's words there and He said, "Come to me, Kyle."

He said, "Come to me, give that stuff to me,

give all your doing for me, give it to me

and let me do it with you."

Somehow in all the burden of the ministry,

I had forgotten that the whole point of this life here,

the whole point of my Christianity was me to spend time

with God and let Him help me with these things,

the Holy Spirit is our comforter.

Jesus wants to take our heavy burdens from us

so that we can experience His rest,

and I made a physical act that day,

I lifted up my hand and I said, "I surrender Lord."

"I give this to you, I can't do it in my own strength,

I need your strength."

And I can't explain how this stuff works, folks,

but it does, and I felt the peace of God come over me,

and I felt the strength, and suddenly I had

the words to say, and I had peace doing it.

And so after that I wanted to study this verse out

a little more and see exactly what was Jesus saying,

especially when he continued on here.

Because the next verse, Matthew 11:29, He says,

"Take my yoke upon you.

let me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart,

and you'll find rest for your souls, your mind,

your will, your emotions."

Somebody once called it a vacation for the soul,

and I love that, it's a good image to put into your mind

about what God's presence is.

Jesus says, "For my yoke is easy to bear

and my burden is light."

Well, what is He talking about, yoke?

First of all, understand he's not saying yolk,

he's not talking about the yellow of an egg, okay,

and I had to learn that early on.

Yoke, in Bible times, was a wooden frame

that was put over animals, usually cows or oxen,

it was a tool to help them do a task,

which was pulling a heavy load usually or plowing a field.

But that tool was heavy, which is why the Bible says

that they were supposed to be two animals of equal size,

they had to be equally yoked,

so that the burden of that tool wouldn't crush

and just be so heavy on just one of the animals,

that they could share the weight.

So Jesus is speaking into the people of that time,

who are under the law, under the burden of the law,

you could say that the law was kind of a tool at that time

to help them be accepted and in some kind of a relationship

with God, to atone for their sins,

but then the Pharisees had added

like another 600 more regulations on top of that,

it was all so heavy they couldn't do it on their own,

and that's the whole purpose of Jesus,

He came to do what they couldn't do,

what we couldn't do on our own.

And though we don't live in the law anymore,

we do often still live in our own little system of works,

don't we, which is really the source of so much stress,

it's our striving to be accepted by God,

it's our striving to get God's delight,

when we're supposed to be working from God's delight,

see Jesus already plowed the field,

Jesus already pulled the heavy load,

Jesus already did all the heavy lifting

so that now you can just rest in the delight of His presence

knowing you already are accepted, you are already loved,

you are already chosen, there's nothing that you can do,

and strive, and work, work, work to get any of that stuff

because Jesus has already given it to you.

So yes, there is a yoke, Jesus does give us a yoke,

he says "Take my yoke," as Ephesians 2:10 says,

we were created for good works, there is a work to do,

but that work, as I said earlier, comes

out of the presence of God, it's a purpose and a calling,

giftings that we discover in the presence of God,

and because it's empowered by the presence of God,

it's easy and it's light.

So how do we get there?

Jesus says, "Come to me," how do we get there?

The presence of God is often a vague concept.

What does it mean?

Well first of all, we have to understand

that God's presence isn't something that's far off anymore,

okay, we don't have to beg God, "Lord send your presence."

And I know, there are songs out there, and I get it,

I'm not trying to be critical here, I totally get it,

but when we sing come Holy Spirit,

it's a little bit bad theology

because the Holy Spirit is already in us.

Christ in you, the Bible says, "is the hope of glory."

We just really have to learn how to access it,

how to get into it, I had gifts in me for so many years

that I wasn't enjoying and wasn't fully utilizing

because I didn't know how to access them.

And so God's presence is in us,

and really James 4:8 gives us what we need to do,

it says, "Draw near to God," so that's lean in,

and listen, make time for God,

and I just want to mention this really quickly,

you need to create margin in your life,

to get away with God, some of you are too busy,

and you think that that makes you someone.

Oh, we love to wear our little busy badges,

"Oh I'm just so busy," that's what we talk to people,

"How are you?" "Oh I'm just so busy,"

like that makes you somebody.

No, busyness, you want to talk about yoke?

Busyness really means being under Satan's yoke. (chuckles)

Because if the devil can't get you to sin,

he'll get you to do a bunch of good things

to distract you, make you so busy that you can't spend time

in the refreshment of God's presence,

so you end up doing a bunch of bad things out of that.

Because you get exhausted and you get burned out.

And so, oh we have so much spiritual warfare,

so much stress, and we're resisting the devil,

well you're gonna be resisting some difficultly

all of your life unless you realize

that two thirds of the word resist is rest.

You have to get away with God, you have to have some margin,

maybe the kids are involved in too many sports,

maybe you're involved in too many activities at church,

maybe your nose is in too many things,

and you've got to create time to get away with God,

and as I said I'm not telling you how

and when you have to do, or how much time you have to do it,

the Holy Spirit will reveal that to you,

but you have to create some time.

And then as any of you know who are in relationships,

just one date night every so often isn't good enough

but it's constant communication that builds

that relationship, and with God this is called prayer.

It's constant conversation, which is talking and listening.

1 Thessalonians, it tells us to "pray without ceasing,"

and I think that's just an ongoing dialogue,

I don't think it's locking yourself in your prayer closet

forever because you do have to get out into the world.

But it's as you're going about your day,

it's as you're driving, as you're folding laundry,

as you're working, it's just talking with God

like it's an ongoing conversation on your text message.

"God help me here," "God I need this," "God what do I do,

God," and then creating the margin for you to actually

see and hear God's answers.

God's word brings us into His presence,

like any book that is written appropriately,

one of the best things people like about them

is when they can read it

and feel like the author is right there speaking to them.

Well, God's book here, God's word is so much greater

than that because it's not like He's there, He is there.

God is with you, and so when you're reading His word

it's illuminated by His presence

so it can speak directly to the situations in your life.

Like when I was going through all of that stress

writing that book, that situation

when I was reading God's word,

His word was illuminated for that situation,

because He is with me, He was speaking directly to me.

Psalm 1:2-3, it says, "those who meditate on God's law,

God's word, day and night, they will be

like trees planted by streams of water

which produce much fruit."

That word meditate there, in the Hebrew, is to think

and speak, keep God's word running through your mind

and your mouth at all times, when you speak the word of God,

it brings the benefits of His presence into existence.

So go about your day, you can get into God's delight

by saying, "the joy of the Lord is my strength,"

"the peace of God who surpasses all understanding

guards my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus,"

"I've not been given a spirit of fear

but I have the power of love and I have a sound mind."

And one of the last things that I'll mention here,

and you guys might look at me a little strange

when I say this, but envision God in your circumstances.

See Him, a verse the biblical model of that,

Psalm 16:8, David says, "I keep the Lord always before me,

because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved."

"Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rests secure."

Peter quoted David, at Pentecost, he said,

"For David says, 'Concerning him, I saw the Lord

always before me.'"

David envisioned God in his circumstance,

and I'm not talking about some sort of goofy

or mystical way of, oh Jesus is my imaginary friend,

and I'm gonna create an image of Him,

but envision the benefits of God's presence,

of what you get when you're in God's presence,

envision Him, and envision those in your circumstances.

I have a friend who has coffee with Jesus,

when he's doing his morning devotionals,

he sets out a second cup of coffee,

and it's not that, like I said,

he thinks Jesus is kind of really sitting there

in the person, but it's a way for him to acknowledge

the space that Jesus does occupy,

because spiritually speaking, Jesus is with us.

And so, it's a tool that helps him experience

the benefits of the presence of God.

The Bible says to think on things of Heaven,

it says in Romans 8:5, "But those who live

according to the Spirit set their minds

on the things of the Spirit."

"To set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace."

So if you're fearful, envision God working out those fears.

If you need healing, envision God in that kind of way.

I envisioned myself putting my burdens into his hands

and that helped me to really experience

the benefits of his presence

because God wants to be experienced.

So outside of God's presence is trouble and toil and stress.

We weren't meant to be there.

Jesus died to bring us back into 24/7 access

to the delight of God's presence.

Anytime and anywhere.

So when you get in there, you make that margin,

you have a constant conversation with Him,

you get in His word, envision Him in your circumstances,

you'll experience the source of all good things

in your life, refreshment, purpose, stress relief,

and you can draw near as simply as saying, "God,let's talk."

Has this helped anybody?

All right, let's pray. (soothing music)

What you just heard me talk about,

enjoying the benefits of God's presence,

but do you know of God's presence is in you?

If you took your last breath today,

do you know if you would spend eternity in God's presence?

If not, I would like to take the opportunity

to pray with you so that you can be at peace with God

and be certain that He's with you now

and that you'll be with Him forever.

Simply say, "Jesus, I am sorry for my sins,

I wanna be cleansed, I wanna be at peace with God,

I want to be in His presence now and forever,

so I ask you to come into my life to be my Lord and Savior,

and help me every day to be more and more like you."

If you've sincerely prayed that prayer,

then the greatest miracle just happened,

you were born again and God put His spirit in you.

You can be certain He'll be with you forever,

and that's the greatest peace.

Now, you can start accessing God's presence anytime.

That happens through prayer, which is just talking to Him,

it doesn't have to be anything formal,

you can talk to God like you'd talk to a friend,

get to know His voice and His heart by reading his Bible

every day, the Gospels are a great place to begin.

I believe this moment marks a new beginning

for your life that will be filled with all the joy, peace

and strength that comes with God's presence.

I celebrate with you, and I know all of Heaven does too.

- I opened up the Shut Up, Devil! app many times.

A few months ago, when I was going through severe cancer.

- It has built my faith, it has built my trust.

- In 20 plus years of ministry,

I've battled insecurity at times.

Kyle's ministry spoke life into me at a time

where I almost quit believing in myself.

- I told God that he was stuck with me,

and God told me that He was not stuck with me, I was chosen.

And albeit that night Kyle spoke on being chosen.

- Kyle's ministry does a fantastic job

of encouraging you mid-week.

- And I've really started to understand

that God had a plan and He had a purpose directly for me.

(soulful music)

- But hear this, here's the promise,

being rid of shame does mean

that you're no longer afraid

of what those things mean about you.

It means that you're at peace with God,

it means that you're at peace with yourself

which in time brings you peace with people.

So phew, we've got that part over with now,

now we can get on to the hope,

we can get on to the solution.
