Do you want to migrate your Blogger blog to WordPress? Well keep watching, in this

video I'll walk you through how you can migrate your Blogger site to WordPress today.

There are a few things that we need to set up to get this process going

so I'll show you the things that we'll be doing. First we need to set up a

hosting account, second we need to install WordPress, and then we need to

migrate or import Blogger information from your Blogger site over to WordPress.

So if you're ready, let's get started. If you don't already have a hosting

account you'll want to get one set up so that we can start the installation of

WordPress to get this going. Since you're setting up your site for

the first time we usually recommend Bluehost it's a very inexpensive way to

get started on your own WordPress site and WPBeginner has worked with Bluehost

for several years so we've been able to get a discount for you. If you click on

the link below you can claim that offer. From here you just want to click the big

green button to get started now and during this process you can select your

plan. normally if you just have one web site then the basic is fine. I tend to

like setting up a lot of websites or a lot of domains so a lot of times I will

choose the plus area but the basic is fine as well. For you just want to select

the one that's best for you and then we'll move on. On this screen you'll want

to choose your new domain. If you already have a domain for the website then you

can put that in here otherwise you'll want to put in the

domain that you want to set up and the great thing about this discount is your

domain name comes free with this and from here you just want to fill out the

account information that'll be associated with this account.

Scrolling down real quick I want to just show you that by default the account

plan is for 36 months but you can change this here if you need to and you'll see

how much you're saving here. Also under the package extras we usually suggest

unchecking all of these to get started and then down here you'll see the total

discount and the amount due today. So go ahead and fill out all this information

to set up your hosting plan and then we'll move on. All right once you setup

the hosting account now we need to install WordPress. They make it really

easy, what you want to do is from your cPanel scroll down until you find

something called install WordPress. We'll click on that button from here you see

that we have an overall progress side up here it shows everything that we've done

so far and what still needs to happen. Then down here you want to pick the

domain that you want it to go under as well as where you want it installed. We

want to installed right where the domain is so let's click Next. Now it will go

through the process of installing WordPress for us and there's not much

that we have to do except just wait. Once it's completed installing you'll notice

the installation details here. You want to copy that information now we can go

to our website and log in. To do that open up a new tab, type in your website

address, and at the end type in wp-admin that will take you to the login area so

that you can enter your login information and login. Great now that

you've logged in you see that you have your dashboard area for WordPress. The

next thing we want to do is we want to go back to Blogger so that we can export

the information from our Blogger site. So log in to your Blogger site and go down

to your Settings area. From the Settings area let's click Other and we want to

backup our content. So we'll click backup content and yeah we want to save it to

our computer. You can name it whatever you want and it will be an XML file for

us to import into our WordPress site later. So let's click Save and you'll see

down here that it's saving to our computer. Great once that's done I can

close that out and we want to head back over to our dashboard in WordPress. So

I'm going to click on my dashboard for WordPress because we need to import what

we just exported from Blogger so on my side tabs I'm going down to my Tools

area click Import. There are a few different import features that we have

that we can import from other things. This is the one we want to import

so we need to install it first and once its installed we can run the importer.

Now it'll bring us to this screen so now we have to find where we just saved that.

You can also if you have it in your taskbar, you can left-click and drag it

up to choose the file and you see it's there or you can click Choose file and

go find the XML file click on that we see it's ready and we can upload file

and import the content. What thats, what that's going to do is now that we

imported it we need to decide do we want to create a new user for all of the

posts that were under us or from the drop-down select the user that we want.

I'm going to assign all of them to an existing user on this site and click

Submit. What this will do is you can see at the bottom is that it'll go through

and start the import process and once that's done you get a message saying

'All done. Have fun.' make sure to update the passwords and the roles of the users

if you've imported users. We didn't but if you do import users make sure you

update the password information. Now that we have that we can go to our posts. It's

imported all the posts that we've had from our Blogger area so you can scroll

through and make sure that you see all of the ones that you import. Now what

we need to do next is we need to set up the permalinks, that's what comes after

your url. Blogger has a different URL structure than what we normally have

with WordPress so we need to make sure that that matches as closely as possible

so that we don't, use, lose any rankings. To change that let's go over to our

settings area, click on Permalinks, and we want to, you see by default it'll do post

name that's the typical setting for WordPress but we want to go to custom structure

and we're going to remove that and I'm going to paste this in here. You

can see it in our blog post basically you want the Year, the month number, the

post name .HTML that's if you want to keep the structure

the same. So once we enter that we should be good to go and you can come

down here and click Save Changes. Now sometimes the structure still won't be

the same and what you can do is if you look at our link on our site you can

copy this bit of code into the functions.php for the WordPress theme and that

should get it close to the Blogger's URL structure and I'll show you how to do

that now. I'm going to highlight this bit of code that you see on our post, gonna

right click and copy. Minimize this, now we need to go back to our WordPress

dashboard we want to go to Appearance, let's head down to Editor and what we

need to do is we need to first we need to say that we understand that we're

making changes to the code and that could break things. WordPress has gotten

really good about saving you from yourself

so we'll be alright. We'll just click 'I understand' and what we need to do is we

need to click on the theme function that's what we're looking for,

scroll all the way down, get into a new line, and right click and we want to

paste that bit of code that we found on wpbeginner. We can update the file, once

we update that all we have to do is visit any of our posts on our website. So

I'm going to scroll down and I'm going to view this post. Great, so what it did

is it simply updated my information, it went it took a script it went and

updated all of the posts permalinks to match what I needed it to match for my

Blogger site so now this is good to go. We only needed to do that once so now we

need to go back into our Appearance area and remove that code we don't want that

in there anymore so we'll click edit and go to the Editor again, go to our theme's

function, scroll all the way down, and we need to make sure we only remove what

started on line 70 and remove that. Again update the

information, now that the permalinks structure is set we can keep going so

basically we have imported everything from our Blogger site into our WordPress

site which is awesome now we need to make sure that anybody who goes to our

old Blogger site will get redirected to our new website. That's very important

otherwise we're not getting any of the traffic to our new site. So to do that we

need to install a plugin and it's called 'Blogger to WordPress Redirector'

and that will help us set up all the redirects that we need to make sure that

anybody who goes to our old Blogger site will now come to our WordPress site. So

let's go to Plugins, Add New from here we are like I said looking for a Blogger to

WordPress Redirection and this is what we want so let's click install now. With

plugins once you install it you also want to make sure that you activate it

for your website and you see it here which is great and we need to go back

over to tools, go to 'Blogger to WordPress Redirection' to get some things set up.

You see some great notes here that we need to keep this activated for the

redirection to work so all we need to do is click start configuration for this to

start and they found the list of blog that we need to update so let's click

'Get Code' and what it's going to do is it's going to generate some code that we

can go back to our Blogger site to put in to make sure that people who come

there will be redirected properly to our new website. So I'm going to highlight

this area, click copy, and with this code we need to go back to our Blogger

dashboard area so I'm going to click back over here and from here we need to

update our theme so I'm gonna go to theme and we need to edit the HTML now

if you have custom code on here that you want to keep now would be a good time to

copy that and save it locally otherwise we're going to select all, delete all

that's there, and we're going to paste in what we got from our Blogger

to WordPress redirection plugin. So I'm going to right click put paste and you

see all of that information that it gave me. Perfect, now we want to make sure that

we click Save theme and we need to do one more thing for the mobile users so

let's go back to theme and you see you have live on blog and you also have

mobile so under here let's click on the gear box and just make sure that this is

showing 'Show desktop theme on mobile devices' and that means that they'll see

what the desktop people see so that's good. So let's click Save Changes and now

if I go click view blog and open it in a new window now you see that it just

redirected everything to my WordPress site which is perfect that's exactly

what we want. So now everything that was in Blogger is now on my site you can go

under blog and you can see all of the posts that I have done over the years on

Blogger and that's perfect. Now here's the caveat for this when you want to

move other content from Blogger to WordPress like your pages or your

widgets that's more difficult you'll actually have to go in and copy the

information for instance I'll right-click select all and I'll

right-click and copy, and then you'll have to go into your WordPress site, go

up to pages, click add new, and you'll need to add each one separately. Make

sure you add the title of the page like it was in your Blogger then click

publish and then you'll have that there. So you'll need to do that for all of the

pages that you have and then one final thing that you'll want to make sure that

you update is if anyone reads your Blogger website and has it in an RSS

feed you'll want to update that as well. So to do that let's go back to our

Blogger area, we'll go to settings, we'll scroll down, go to 'Other', and under post

feed redirect we need to add our own feed so make sure you add in all the

information before, add your URL, and do /feed that is the normal

WordPress RSS feed address. Put that in there and let's click

save settings. So now anybody who reads your Blogger blog they'll now be able to

read it in your WordPress site. So now you've done it

you have successfully migrated your Blogger site to WordPress without losing

any Google rankings. Sid you learn something from today's video? If so

Wedding Escort Card Holder | Michaels - Duration: 3:58.

(gentle guitar strumming)

David Tutera - Escort & Place Card Displays

Michaels Weddings

- Well you're invited to someone's wedding

and I think what's really is great is when

the couple takes the time to truly think about

where every single guest is going to be seated

at the celebration.

But let's start with the escort cards

because this is really crafty and super fun

and I think very visual.

It starts with a purchase of this particular frame

which comes just like this from Michael's.

You have the gold frame, the jute, the clothes pins,

and we're gonna add a little special touch to it

as we get started.

So with a little bit white paint,

we're gonna begin to paint the outside

of the entire picture frame.

But look very closely

'cause we're not going to paint over

the accent pieces

because the gold will wind up being

an accent, not a primary.

So keep the inset, which is the beading, gold.

And the corner and the side appliques

as well gold.

So when this is completely finished,

now you can see how the gold just sorta pops out.

And by the way, you can do this any color

that you choose to with your paint.

And I even painted the little, teeny clothes pins white.

With these you're gonna hold up your place cards.

They're from my line.

The place cards that I sell come just like this.

Fold it in half.

Just cut it

into two cards.

Real simple.

Take a fine pen

and then write the name of the guest

and then the table number you've chosen to seat them at.

And then take your little place card and your clothes pin,

tie it to the ribbon.

And you'll notice what I've done is,

I removed the jute and I replaced it with

a beautiful antique gold ribbon from side to side.

That allows the clothes pin to be held onto the ribbon

with the escort card to be displayed.

The one last touch to this

which makes it really extra special.

Think about the flowers you have

either on the guest tables or in the bouquets.

We're gonna work with faux flowers.

And you're gonna take the faux flower and cut a stem off

so we have just a flat surface here.

And with your glue gun

you begin to decorate the outside of the picture frame.

With, I'm using now ranunculus and lilac.

And you can do as much as you want.

I've decided to just add it

in the corners of the frame, asymmetrical.

And when it's completed

with all your cards,

you can have one of these up with just certain cards on it,

or what I'd love to see is a series of frames

at different heights that show all of your guests on them.

And you alphabetize them.

And the last thing you can also do out of my line

is I have these wonderful place card holders.

And these can be used to either coordinate

to your place settings

so that guests now know exactly what table they're going to

and what seat they should be seated at.

A simple way to add a wonderful look to your wedding.

Why You Are More Productive At Night - Sadhguru @ Sophia College - Duration: 10:37.

I Personally feel that I function more efficiently in the night than I do in

the day it's not gonna change my biological clock or something and I

sleep during the day but it's just that I feel no productive not only while

studying but otherwise I feel invigorated at the night so why is it so

well you know maybe you're in the wrong country there are three types of people

who do not sleep in the night a Rogge will not sleep in the night a rogue he

means a sick person because he cannot sleep a bogey will not sleep in the

night a pleasure seeker will not sleep in the night because night is conducive

for him for his kind of business a yogi also will not sleep in the night because

for him also night is very conducive which one are you you can decide I don't

want to say anything about it why night

is she light we value light because our visual operators are made in a certain

way see that man has an eye in his hand also

yes because we value our visual apparatus so much we thought two is not

enough three should come normally here but somebody got it here

what to do wrong place but at least you can close it and open it but we value

our visual apparatus so much simply because they designed in such a way that

only in light you can see what light does to you is it makes everything

distinct see now because it is lit I can see this person this person this person

this person this person suppose lights went off and did this became dark I just

see a mass of people I don't see this person this person this person so there

is a certain sense of lack of boundaries in the night so for yoga for sexuality

for friendship for being together for study for focus for all these things

night seems to be more conducive because the difference between what is you and

what is the other comes down in the light in the night simply because our

visual apparatus function like this where there is no light everything

merges in our experience so I yogi a bogey and a Rogi all three of them make

use of the night you can also make use of it there's no problem unless you're

sleeping in the classroom if you're not sleeping in the classroom it's fine

nothing wrong with it but you will see you try this and see mornings are a

nuisance but can I share something I was made like this I if I sleep in the

morning normally in my school used to be 8:30 in

the morning from 6:45 my mother and my sisters will start waking me up it's a

series of efforts

many things they'll make me sit up in the bed they'll come and twist my arm

and do this and this my mother will do it gently my sisters

will do that then they will drag me and my mother will put toothpaste on the

toothbrush and give it to me I'll stick it in my mouth um so you get me my

clothes and say go and sure have shower it's time up time up I go inside the

bathroom and fall asleep if nobody wakes me up till one o'clock two o'clock in

the afternoon I'll just sleep like a rock not wake up and roll around simply

dead but I started practicing yoga at the age of twelve in about maybe eight

to nine months after that no matter where I am even till this day where I am

which timezone I am every day I'm in a different time zone but at 3:35 3:40 I

just come awake because some changes happen in the nature of that time I my

body just comes awake if I want I can get up and do what I want if I don't

want I can sleep some more but it always comes awake so you have to bring some

sensitivity into the system that see you are a product of this planet yes or no

whatever nonsense individuals may think about themselves we are all at just a

pop-up from this planet you've seen those pop-ups on the computer screen

pop pop yes you just a pop up you will be gone you can't believe you will be

going on me I will be gone yes all the very smart people countless number of

people who walk this planet before and you and me where the hell are they are

not a sign all became topsoil isn't it so weren't they pop-ups aren't you a

pop-up poop poop you may think you have a great life and this and that as far as

the earth is concerned it's just recycling its soil

yes throws you up and draws you back throws you up and draws you back so in

this little pop up the important thing and the most important thing is you

create sensitivity within you such sensitivity that every dimension of life

comes into your experience before you fall dead is it not important you

experience this life in this fullest possible scale yes or no experience

means people think we must party every day no no same damn thing how many times

you will do there is much more for the human life to explore you must become

sensitive when I say sensitive because the word sensitive is used in the wrong

way in the sense when people say oh she is very sensitive we are supposed to

understand she will get hurt for just about anything yes

no being sensitive to life and being ego sensitive or to different things being

sensitive to life means if you walk into this hall you experience everything

that's here you don't miss a thing if you walk outside you don't miss a

thing every dimension of life should come into your experience this happened

Shankaran Pillai bought a work what he bought a work donkey and the man who was

selling the donkey said see this is a very sensitive donkey you cannot beat

this donkey you cannot use bad words you cannot abuse this donkey Shankaran

Pillai said that's great every day I am tired of beating these donkeys and

abusing every day I have to use filthy words to get this donkey's moving I like

a sensitive donkey and he played paid little extra bonus for the sensitivity

of the donkey and took it home he left it in his in the barn and tomorrow

morning he has to go to work he went there and told the donkey please let's

go no response he said please let us go nothing he went down on his

knees and prayed nothing you not supposed to abuse it you're not supposed

to beat it not knowing what to do he went back to the man who sold the donkey

see I pray I requested I pleaded I prayed he's not responding what am I

supposed to do that man said is that so let me see

and he came he picked up a tick stick like this one whack on the head and then

he threw the stick and said come the donkey followed some current Billa got

furious you idiot you said it's a sensitive donkey and the way you hit

this animal I have never hit an animal like this in my life he said no no no

he's very sensitive first you have to get his attention so developing

sensitivity means if you simply close your eyes now you must know what face of

Mon it is right now because all this is playing in your body every day it is

playing in your system do you see if it's a full moon or a new moon the

entire ocean is coming up there are tides isn't it you have been to the

ocean side of it you don't there are tides yes the whole ocean is trying to

rise 72 percent of your body is water you think nothing is rising it is for

every position of the Sun Moon and many things that are happening to the planet

they're happening to you you must become life sensitive then you will know how to

manage every aspect of your life don't become an ego sensitive don't become

society sensitive life sensitive if you become what's happening this is the way

this life if you know this one thing all the time you will see you got your GPS

on there's really no problem you will never get lost it doesn't matter who

says what what kind of situations you are put into you are never ever lost

because your life sensitive this is all this life needs that this has to become

life sensitive right now we have developed a psychological structure

which is nothing to do with life it's got

something to do with the social scene got nothing to do with the life thank

you very much

Lessons Learned of How to get to 20,000 Subscribers - Duration: 15:24.

one of my favorite quotes ever is if you want what I have you got a do what I do

what is up everybody this is Chris from the rewired soul where we talk about the

problem but focus on the solution and if you're new to my channel my channel is

all about helping people with their mental health so for any that kind of

stuff make sure you subscribe and ring that notification bell but right now you

might be thinking oh but Chris you're talking about 10 lessons you learned to

get to 20,000 subscribers what's that guy to do with mental health I don't

know if if you've been paying attention or not

but if you look around at youtubers lately they are losing their minds

sometimes I like to make videos to help my fellow creators out and I want to

talk about things that I've learned on my path to 20,000 subscribers before I

do that I want to thank each and every one of you beautiful people out there

will click that subscribe button even more so for those of you who click that

notification bell because you care about mental health and whether it's improving

yours or just educating yourself or decreasing the stigma whatever it is I

love each and every one of you so so so much so yeah without further ado these

are things that I've learned on my road to 20,000 subscribers and even if the

amount of youtube creator or even think about starting a YouTube channel I truly

believe that some of these things that I learned might be able to help you just

in life or in the workplace in general so tip number one or lesson number one

rather is something that I still work on every single day which is focus on your

own race like it is so easy for me to compare myself to other people and where

other people are there's a there's a saying where is I don't compare yourself

to where you are today based on where someone else is today compare yourself

to where you were yesterday right like I was literally just whining to Tristan

this morning I'm just going through YouTube and checking out other channels

or what YouTube recommends to me I'll just like send Trista's screenshots of

like how does this person get more views than I like it just blows my bi head

like she like brings me back down if she's like yo worry about your own race

you know what I mean but she also tells me you know it reminds me to be grateful

for every single viewer and subscriber that I have so you got to focus on your

own race I've talked about this in other videos we're like youtubers have quit

because they look at the success of other people focus on your own race and

what you are doing lesson number two connect your audience like this is huge

if like if you look at what I do like I try to reply to as many as many of the

comments as possible or at least hold them just to kind of show that I did

read it right sometimes I just don't have the words to say like it's

important like I think that's one of the huge things here's a little side tip for

anybody who is on YouTube like when I was smaller and as I was growing like if

anybody left a comment I would always remind them to subscribe I'm like hey

might want to subscribe and it worked I swear

it worked like 90% of the time I think it's important to be grateful because

something I've talked about is this disconnect that I see bigger youtubers

get between them and their audience so I want to make sure that my audience is

engaged and we're talking and having conversations at some applause so I

mentioned in another video that Tristan is now helping me with this

just because the channel is getting bigger but it's very important for us to

truly appreciate and connect with the people who are watching our content

lesson number three is support have support like Tristan is amazing support

you know Zack is amazing support my friends are some amazing support like

when it comes to this YouTube specifically like I needed people who

understood and like Tristan gets it I'm very fortunate about that but she only

gets it to an extent you know she's not a YouTube creator what I actually did

was I joined some Facebook groups of other people on this YouTube journey as

well so I support is a huge part of mental health I tell you all the time

it's one of the reasons I started my Facebook group for all of you rewired

soldiers out there by the way link down in the description

come join it like we need support we need to hear from other people who are

going through the same struggles as we are because one of the things a lot of

us suffer from is something called terminal uniqueness where we think we

are the only ones going through what we're going through that's number four

stop making videos for yourself like I had to learn that and this sounds really

weird this sounds really weird because you hear these youtubers you're talking

about Blair now like uh make your videos for other people I kept making videos

for other people well a lot of it is about the mindset I'm gonna talk about

mindset a few times throughout this video but no matter what kind of video

you're making you're making it for other people you just need to remember that so

me you know I'm truly trying to help people with their mental health right

like that is the focus that's my goal that is what I'm trying to do but like

for example my buddy q-star he has a channel where he talks about

you know reddit posts and he's a comedian and he makes fun and everything

like that like I was talking to him I'm like you

provide a lot of value dude I'm like every time I watch your videos I laugh

and it kind of makes me think right so he's making a video for me even though

he may not realize it but even people who are like storytime

two birds of floggers like whenever I make a video I'm always thinking about

what you're going to gain from it like how am I gonna help you so even if

you're doing entertainment or vlogging or music or how to like just we need to

stop worrying about you know what what what this video is about for us and how

we can help other people alright when we switch that mindset it helps

keep me motivated and keep me moving forward and also it also helps me quit

worried about so much about the numbers and the analytics and everything like

that because I remember I'm making this for other people lesson number five

comes from my man himself roberto blake roberto blake like i just i need people

to call me out i need people to you know point out entitlement and I'll never

forget when I first started on YouTube I was in a livestream of Roberto's I can't

remember if it was in our Facebook group or if it was all in one of his YouTube

live streams but I just remember he was talking about how so many youtubers want

to go viral they won't have a million subscribers they want to have this and

like Roberto straight-up said he's like you have no right to complain until you

have 1,000 videos all right challenge accepted mother you know what I mean

like it's true it's true we see a lot of people who are complaining and they feel

like you know the YouTube algorithm owes them something or the audience ohs them

something like when it comes to this like I know that I don't nobody owes me

anything YouTube doesn't owe me anything you don't owe me anything nobody owes me

jack squat until I put in the work I have no right to complain and even when

I do put in the work I barely I barely have a right to complain so if you're

somebody who's trying to create something like how much effort are you

actually putting into this like I get a lot of people who you know say oh I want

you to be able to grow and things like look I go check out their channel they

got like five videos I'm like what do you expect like what do you expect from

just a few videos so I have been taking YouTube seriously for less than a year

and a half and I have over 500 videos over 500 videos and you guys who have

been subscribed you know sometimes I put out two three videos a day like I know

that if I want to get to that goal I gotta hustle

and I don't work for it nothing is owed to me lesson number six is stay humble

stay humble is something that I'm constantly working on it's something I'm

constantly trying to do because one of my biggest fears is becoming a hypocrite

right and on my journey of growing this thing there's a lot of youtubers who

I've reached out to and I've noticed I've noticed that as I grow more of them

are starting to talk to me right and like look at I'm like that is terrible

and it's a terrible way to live that you're only talking to me once I start

growing so what I try to do is I try to be the change I want to see in the world

so I'm constantly staying humble I'm constantly looking at other creators or

smaller creators that's what I try to do collabs that's why I share a lot of

content because I need to stay humble like I was actually over a twisty tie

yesterday I was having a conversation with her because you know I reply to

comments sometimes I get a little sassy and one of my fears is reverting back to

this idea that I'm always right you know what I mean like because if I do that

like my ego is my worst enemy so I have to be able to look at these things and

saying like okay disagreement or do I am I being sick headed and narrow minded

and just think I'm always right like I have to stay humble like I am no

different than anybody watching this content right now the only difference is

I uploaded it onto YouTube that's it and truthfully truthfully I think you

know the world in general would be a better place if we just started looking

at people as people not based on their numbers or how much money they make or

anything like that this is just a human problem so like some of you have

mentioned like one of my biggest pet peeves it's just social hierarchies

right like oh this person has more subscribers so they don't talk to this

person like that is just some of the most ridiculous stuff ever so never ever

ever ever hold me up on a pedestal you know what I mean going back to what I

said if you want what I have just do what I do

what's the number seven speaking of staying humble separate the haters from

the constructive criticism because it's really easy for me to look at different

comments and think that people are just hating on me they don't get me they

don't understand all these other things but I get it

there I gotta recognize my own bias I gotta recognize you know is my ego

getting out of control thinking that everything I say is the

word of God you know I'm always right like I have to look at these things and

say okay this person actually has some good criticisms right so for example for

example I made a video with my son a couple of weeks ago and some people

notice that I move my mouth when Dylan's talking I do this all the time

Tristan pointed out that even when I'm watching my own videos I move my mouth

it's weird able to kind of filter out these things and it's an ongoing process

of like is this a criticism that actually really like pay attention to

and take into consideration or is this just me realizing that I'm not gonna be

able to please 100% of people and like thank you for your feedback but you know

I'm gonna keep doing it this way lesson number eight is huge for any creator out

there any creator out there be mindful of the content that you want to make and

like listen to your thoughts and emotions and your passions and feelings

like going back to roberto blake like we were talking he was saying feels like a

blog so he went to block some days he feels like doing photography so he does

photography and yeah you know what we're all trying to do is know what youtubers

are trying to do is like do your own thing and just have this kind of freedom

so like a great example is what i'm doing right now with this video i some

other videos I want to make because I promise to people but like I just didn't

feel like making it at this moment I wanted to record but I didn't feel like

what I do that right so I was like oh I'll just make this video because it's

what my body and my mind is telling me to make you can adapt adopt this into

part of your life so let's say for example you gotta clean your house okay

oh I don't want to clean the kitchen okay cool don't clean the kitchen don't

clean your bedroom in the living room whatever it is you see what I mean so

rather than doing nothing I just try to do something but I listen to what I want

to do freedom at our actual job so we might as

well do it when we're becoming equator on YouTube even if you're doing like

Instagram or you know Twitter stop or blogging whatever it is listen to what

you want to do like something else that I've mentioned in previous videos like I

personally don't strap my down to myself down to a schedule I make more content

than a lot of creatives a lot of creatures but I've never promised you

anything you know why because if I want to take a day off I didn't promise you a

dang thing lesson number nine quit slacking on SEO right so this goes back

to what I was saying like I have no right to complain unless I'm putting in

the work like I see a lot of creators who complain about you know huge

creators complaining about this Oh YouTube suppresses my content YouTube's

suppressing my content right but I look at their SEO I'm like are they doing

everything they can like in the in the tags and the keywords in the description

and the title like are these things search friendly and I see a lot of

people on it and again I have a look at myself and do that like if I'm being

lazy about that I have no right to complain about YouTube if I'm being lazy

one of the reasons my channel has been growing is because I make sure that

people who are looking for content like mine can find it so right now I'll give

a huge shout out to my buddy judo over at the channel positively you

know because she has about 3,000 subscribers but I look at her videos and

she has some great videos some great videos that I know people are looking

for you know how I know people are looking for them because they've asked

me to make them then I'm like oh well who knows making them but then I looked

over at her at her stuff I'm like girl you are not putting all of the effort

into the SEO to make algorithm able to find your content and like again like

who knows my girl she's my buddy and I tell people what they need to hear now

if they want to hear so now who knows putting a little bit more effort into

the SEO so everybody if you're on YouTube just know you can put 500

characters of tags in there okay good decent at writing write a detailed

description okay your titles the titles have you looking at titles they are

stuffed with such friendly keywords I take probably about an extra 20 minutes

every video to make sure that I am doing all of

those things last but not least lesson 10 focus on the solution there are a

million reasons why I always say we're talking about the problem but focus on

the solution something that is easy for me to do as well as a lot of other

creators to do is just talk about the problem talking about the oh the YouTube

algorithm this or oh the Adsense that or OD monetization this oh this this this

and like when we stay sucked into that problem we're completely missing the

solutions right so all the things that I talked about the SEO the hustle that

work all these things like what can I do so right now what I do to counteract you

know the way the algorithm works I make a ton of content I connect with all of

you I reply to your comments I do so many different things when it comes to

revenue I have a patreon I have two books up on Amazon Tristan has helped me

make merch I just do I use affiliate links where I can like like I am not

beholden to YouTube and it's something that a lot of entrepreneurial creators

have taught me like I focus on the solution sitting in the problem whining

complaining has not gotten me anywhere ever in life but you know what does get

me somewhere when I take actionable steps towards the solution okay so

anyways that's what I want to talk about and I hope whether you're a youtuber or

not you were able to take some things from this video if you want down in the

comments below let me know which one of these lessons is something that you

think that you can adopt into your life whether you're a youtuber or not okay

anyways that's all I got for this video if you like this video please give it a

thumbs up if you're new make sure to subscribe and win get notification Bell

because I make a ton a ton of videos huge thank you to everybody supported

the channel over on patreon we got some new names up there and you are all just

so amazing if you would like to help support the channel go ahead and click

the top right there alright thanks so much for watching

hustle and I'll see you next time

environmental toxins out and can impact

the quality of your sleep remember it's

a clean and stress-free room and home

will help you sleep better and increase

your overall happiness when you realize

that you don't have to stress out about

cleaning so much number 6 you are not

measuring your weight every day weigh

yourself every day so if your plan is

not working you can adjust it weighing

yourself also keeps you motivated do

this in the morning

that's when your body has less water

weight so the measurement is more

precise try not to obsess about it too

much

and keep in mind that depending on how

much water you are retaining you will

notice that your weight fluctuates a few

pounds every few days this is perfectly

normal and it's nothing to panic about

if you've had a carb heavy dinner the

all know sleep is extremely important

because it helps our bodies rest and

recover sleeping with electronics or

lights on can interrupt your sleep and

best to shut everything off at least

half an hour before you go to bed and

When Water is Bad for You with Rachael Pontillo | The Healthy Me Podcast Episode 022 - Duration: 33:37.

- Alright, hey everybody, Trina here, thanks for joining me

on the Healthy Me today, I'm really excited.

Rachael is with me, Rachael Pontillo,

and we are gonna be talking like this is gonna be

so cool because we're talking about one of

my favorite topics today and I'm not even gonna

tell you what that is right now, I'm gonna wait,

make you sit on it for a second, but the topic itself

is is the most popular skincare ingredient

also the most dangerous, and if you've ever heard me talk,

you know exactly what I'm talking about

when I say the most dangerous

and the most popular ingredient.

So let me tell you really quickly about Rachael, though.

Rachael is a holistic skincare innovator,

author, and educator.

She is the best-selling author of the book Love Your Skin,

Love Yourself, and co-author of the Sauce Code.

She's an AADP and IAHC board-certified

international health coach, licensed esthetician,

and natural skincare formulator and educator.

She's the president and co-founder

of the Nutritional Esthetics Alliance,

am I saying that right, Rachael?

- You are.

- Okay, the creator of the popular skincare

and healthy lifestyle blog Holistically Haute,

as well as the much loved online course

Create Your Skincare.

She's an avid herbalist, self-professed

skincare ingredient junky and lifelong learner.

I pretty much could've read, like that's almost,

you sound like me.

- I know, I know, we are so similar.

- She's like my twin over here.

Well welcome, welcome, I'm so glad to have you.

- Thank you, I'm excited to be here!

- Alright, so lemme jump into this,

because everybody's sitting on the edge of their seats.

- They're like what are we gonna talk about?

- What are we gonna talk about,

and if they know me, they're like I know, I know.

So you tell me, what is, in your opinion,

in your professional opinion,

what is the most popular skincare ingredient

and why is it so popular?

- So, drum roll

(Trina trills)

it is water!

(laughs)

- Water, that's what I say - Water!

- Alright, why, why is it so popular?

- Why, exactly, so obviously it makes sense.

I mean you wash your face with water,

you take a shower or bath in water,

so clearly it would make sense to use water

in a skincare product line

that's intended to cleanse the skin.

And from a formulation and manufacturing perspective,

water is pretty darn cheap compared to some of

the other ingredients that we would use in skincare

such as oils and extracts and some of

the other things that we're gonna talk about

in a little while.

So it makes sense from a theoretic perspective

but also from a financial perspective,

if you're manufacturing and selling

a mass-produced skincare line, that you would want to

kind of water down your formulations to keep

your costs down and to be able to offer

bigger quantities to your customers.

And it's also a way where a customer might think

they're getting a big amount of product

but it's actually not going to be.

- So lemme ask you real quick.

- Very strong, yes?

- For the most part, on average,

when water's listed and it's usually listed

as the first ingredient, - Number one, yeah

- Number one, what typically is the concentration

or percentage of water that you've found?

- So typically in a formulation,

the first five ingredients are going to make up

80 to 85% of the entire product,

so if water is your number one ingredient,

that could be up to 80% of that product.

- Yeah, that's what I usually say.

It's somewhere between 75 and 90, 'cause some formulations

are even higher, they're like 90%.

- It's true, especially if it's something

like a cleanser or you know people see the word serum

and they're like ooh, it's fancy,

that must mean it's better, not necessarily.

That nice, light consistency that people love

means there's a lot of water in it.

I was just, not gonna name names

but I was watching TV and a very popular

anti-aging skincare product line now has

a product out there that they're like oh my god,

it's so light, it absorbs so quickly.

- It's not absorbing, it's evaporating!

- It's evaporating, it's not absorbing.

I looked up the ingredients, I'm like yup, water, water,

chemicals, it's just, it's not that nice,

light consistency that people like so much

does not always mean that your skin's actually getting

any lasting benefit or that the ingredients

are even able to absorb.

- Well and on top of that, not even benefiting you

but actually harming you.

Not just your skin but harming you internally

and I'm sure we're gonna talk about that too.

But why would water be considered a dangerous ingredient?

- There's a couple of reasons why.

So first and foremost, water is like a cesspool,

like a smorgasbord for microbes.

So bacteria, mold, and yeast propagate freely

whenever water is present in a skincare formulation,

and that can just be water itself

even if it's water and then a whole bunch of chemicals,

but it can also be any ingredient that is water

containing in any way.

So even your herbal products that are made

with different infusions and hydrosols and extracts,

if any of them contain any water whatsoever

which many of them do, that is going to propagate

that microbial growth.

So that is where water itself really can be

the most dangerous because if you're using a product

that is contaminated with some sort of a pathogen,

you can cause some serious damage,

not only to your skin, but also to your internal health

because if the skin itself is broken

and unfortunately, a lot of people do have

compromised barrier functions in their skin

where there are microscopic fissures

or otherwise compromised areas of the skin

where certain things that are not normally,

would not normally come in because the microbiome

can handle them, but they do.

So if a pathogen enters the body through the skin

which can happen if the skin is, has dry cracks on it

anywhere, if you have some sort of scaly rash,

if you have an acne breakout, all of that

is broken skin.

Even if you have a little scratch on your hand

and the lotion that you're using comes into contact

with that scratch, that pathogen can enter the body.

And we're not talking just about cute little buggies here,

we're talking like some serious bugs.

We are talking potentially drug-resistant strains

of bacteria and molds and yeasts that can then

really propagate in the body.

- Right, and what I wanted to add is that

you might not, that's not something you might see

on your skin, it's gonna be an internal thing

that you end up with flu-like symptoms

and you never associate that with what did I just use

yesterday on my skin?

- Exactly, you would associate that more with

food that you're eating, air that you're breathing

or that you're coming into contact with something

like poison ivy or something like, I mean contact dermatitis

but yeah, using a regular cream and lotion

that seems very harmless, when you're using that product,

there may be no visible signs that it's contaminated.

There's this misconception that you'll know

if a product goes bad because it'll separate

or it'll smell funny - Or it'll be green

- Yeah, or you'll see black specks

or fuzz, that's not always the case at all.

There are many times when a product becomes contaminated

or a preservation system fails because of the high water

activity within that product.

- And let's not forget too because I'm guilty of this

and most women probably are, you open a bottle

or a container and technically as soon as it's opened

it's supposed to be used within

- It's exposed

- Yes and it's supposed to be used within six months

is like a guideline that everyone should follow

for everything.

- For every product - Yeah

- Even ones that are preserved with chemical

preservatives that I never recommend

and I know you don't either.

- It's because as soon, they're meant to be preserved

closed in a closed system and to keep them

a longer shelf life and as soon as you open it,

you're exposing it to the air six months, ladies

and gentlemen, six months, otherwise,

even those things that have those heavy doses

of preservatives can grow bacteria and harmful things.

I also wanna mention too 'cause I know

when I talk about my products and Primal Life Organics,

I talk about and I don't know if you mention this too

but the other things that are found in water

because what I like to tell people is for most

skincare companies, they're not

really purifying their water,

they're using tap water and these are the things

that have been found in tap water.

Heavy metals, we talked about the disease-causing bacteria

so disease-causing bacteria, heavy metals,

gasoline solvents, synthetic chemicals like benzine,

industrial waste products, disinfectant byproducts

and radioactive substances such as uranium,

radium and radon.

- Isn't that fun?

- And what's great is water evaporates

and leaves these things sitting on your skin.

- Or absorbing into the skin.

- Right, and especially they can cross through

but when you talked about the little fissures

or little cuts or if you just exfoliated,

there's breakdown that you don't see

or feel in your skin.

- It's true, and then one other thing

that I wanted to mention that not everybody knows about

is that water for the skin is actually alkaline.

And we've been told a lot nutritionally

that it's good to have an alkaline environment

inside of the body.

I mean I'm sure you guys have heard about drinking

alkaline water and the benefits of that

are for another conversation but topically

the skin itself actually is on the acidic side

and it has to be, that's how it supports

its microbiome.

Typically between a pH of four and five and a half,

and water, distilled water is about a seven

which is neutral.

So that means that it's not, even neutral

is alkaline which can be extremely irritant to the skin

with repeated use.

This is why so many people when they take a lot

of long showers or soak in a bath, their skin

actually feels really dry and irritated.

- Right, and it's like when you talk about

the microbiome, what cracks me up is just recently

I saw an email from a popular blog,

healthy blog person, I don't wanna name them,

who is supporting a company out there

that considers their stuff safer

and mentioning how this company is the first company

to be preserving your natural biome

on your skin and I laughed because I'm like,

I've been doing that for 10 years.

This has been coming out of my mouth about your

natural biome being supported, water kills it.

The pH when you're talking about it,

having the alkaline pH from water is killing

your natural biome by using ingredients like the oils,

you're supporting your natural biome which is supporting

the growth of the bacteria that needs to protect you.

So it just cracks me up that out there

people are thinking that they're propagating

some new, something new.

It's like come on!

- I know, it, yeah, again, don't even

get me started on that kinda stuff

because it drives me crazy because they act like

it's brand-new information that they just discovered

and the only line to ever do this.

No, actually.

- And really when you're destroying your natural biome,

you're leaving yourself, people that suffer from acne

and rosacea and skin conditions,

you are actually, can cause more harm

and it can actually cause irritations

or worsen your acne.

- Yeah, you're leaving your entire body

susceptible and open to, I don't wanna say attack

but essentially it is, because even if

they're microbes that you come into contact with

that might not normally be a problem,

if you don't have a rich and diverse microbiome

in your body and on the surface of your skin,

then those tend to become opportunistic

and throw things off balance and could really

cause a problem.

- Yeah, because even a small amount if you

have a weakened immune system, a small amount

can cause more problems.

So tell me, please enlighten us,

are there any benefits for using water

in skincare?

- Yeah.

So here's the thing, from a functional perspective,

when we're talking about the function of the product itself,

it makes the product feel nice on the skin.

Not everybody likes the feel of oil-based products

because look, the Industrial Revolution

brought us a whole slew of water-based products,

we got used to it, we got comfortable with creams

and lotions and gels and stuff like that

and it can be sometimes difficult to switch

somewhat over to an oil-based regimen

when they're used to that light feeling,

that lightly hydrated feeling.

- Yeah (laughs)

- That stripped, the squeaky clean.

- Like the prune versus the plum,

like if you wanna look like a prune

put water on your skin, that's what I like to say.

- Right, but here's the thing, it is really important

to hydrate the skin and it would be lovely

if we could do that from the inside out

by drinking water, and having hydrating foods

in our diet, but unfortunately it doesn't actually

work that way because all of that hydration first

goes to nourish and hydrate the internal organs

and by the time the skin gets it,

there's like 10% scraps left.

It's like the leftovers that nobody wants to eat.

It's just not enough.

It definitely can help, there's always

a visible difference of someone who drinks a lot of water

versus who does not, but for proper hydration

on the surface, it's really important to hydrate

with some sort of water-containing ingredient.

But the other thing that's important about that

is that even though water-soluble ingredients

don't necessarily penetrate all the time

because the skin's barrier is lipids, is oils,

it recognizes oils and and oil-soluble nutrients.

However, we do have studies that show us

the importance of hydrated skin

to allow for that absorption to happen.

So if the skin is dehydrated,

it's like pouring oil on top of like the desert,

hard desert sand, nothing's getting in there.

It has to first be kind of opened up and softened up

and watered like a sponge where it can open up further

to take in those nutrients, but if there's too much,

then you have just a soggy sponge where things

are just falling out and nothing's going in.

- And that's what I like to, it's not,

in my opinion and I don't use water in my formulations,

but in my opinion, it's not the fact that there's water

in skincare products, it's that there's water

in every skincare product.

So it's the overuse.

Like it's an absolute overuse.

So if you're using one product that has water in it,

please make sure it's purified,

so that will tell you that that's a better quality of water.

But that's not gonna be harm to your body

like using 10 products every day that have water.

That's really gonna be where you're gonna run

into the area where you're not gonna be supporting

your natural biome, it's gonna dehydrate you more

than it's gonna hydrate 'cause the water's

actually gonna pull the moisture.

- And the nutrition. - And, yeah.

- You know, with that evaporation

and that's important, so it's nice

if you are using products that contain water,

there are better choices than just water,

than distilled water, so I mentioned

some of the herbal preparations that you can make.

A lot of my colleagues and my students

use herbal infusions which actually does lower

the pH of the water.

Yes, you still have to deal with the microbe issue.

That's a fact, and natural preservation

has come a long way since even just a few years ago

when I first started teaching about it,

it's every six months there's a new natural preservation

system, many of which are more supportive

to the microbiome than some of the more traditional

preservatives, a lot of the natural antimicrobials

out there are, they bring benefits to the skin

and have nourishing properties in addition

to the antimicrobial properties,

which kinda sounds like an oxymoron

like antimicrobial supporting microbiome,

but the fact is is that if you are gonna formulate

with water at all or buy a product that contains water,

it's gotta have a preservative, otherwise it's just

gonna be dangerous and that's just a fact.

But using herbal infusions or hydrosols

that is a way to at least deal with the issue

of pH being too high, because those are more acidic

and they're also going to help bring in some of

the therapeutic properties of the plants

in conjunction with the other ingredients

in the product.

So that's a way that it can be beneficial,

but I don't really recommend even to my students

to use straight water in their products at all,

and I recommend that showers be kept to a minimum.

- They have the shower heads that you can get

- [Rachael] Yep

- Get the, 'cause I had the filter, yeah,

that you can just attach right to your shower head

so that your showers are filtering out

the heavy metals and the waste products

and all of that.

- Chlorine.

- And the chlorine, and you can get whole house systems.

We have a whole house system now

but we did use the shower before we moved

into this house, I had a shower head.

It's really important, we don't realize how much

- Really important

- How much our skin actually just absorbs this stuff.

- It does.

- And it affects, you think about the brain fog

and the fatigue and chronic fatigue that people

are suffering - The hormones

- Hormone disruption, you know.

How many women are having difficulties getting pregnant,

how many people are having problems losing weight,

your thyroid gland is responsible for your metabolism

and that's affected by stuff.

So all of this stuff comes into play,

and what's really fun is Rachael and I have never,

we've met a couple times, we've met at a couple places

and we've never actually had this conversation

so it's really kind of a fun topic for us

to talk about.

- It is, we're geeking out over water.

I love it.

- I know, yeah.

So alright, so what are natural alternatives to water,

either as a skincare ingredient or in your daily

skincare regimen?

- Yeah.

So as I mentioned, herbal infusions, so that's basically

an herbal tea or you can make green tea,

green tea actually has a ton of topical skin benefits,

really wonderful ingredient that you have to use water

to make the tea, you have to use water

to extract the benefit of the plant, typically hot water.

And then there are some herbal preparations you can use

called glycerins where you're using glycerin

to actually extract some of the preparation

or some of the therapeutic benefits

from the plants and that's a lot less irritant

than using something like an alcohol extract

or an herbal vinegar.

Herbal vinegars are great for salad,

but not so much on the face, it's too acidic.

And therefore too irritant.

Of course we gotta talk about oils,

we love oils, oils don't hydrate the skin per se

because they're not bringing any water into the skin

but they absolutely are essential for helping

to maintain skin hydration because they are helping

to kind of seal off the evaporation pathways

from the water that's already in the surface

of the skin.

They're helping to keep that moisture in

and they're also delivering just pure plant nutrition

into the skin, it's just wonderful

and I really think there's an oil for everyone.

If you put an oil on your skin and it feels

too greasy or it's not absorbing or it's too thick,

try another oil.

There's so many of them out there now

and they all have different properties,

they're all made of different essential fatty acid chains

that will determine how it absorbs and depending on

what your skin's needs are, you will find the right one,

you just have to kind of experiment.

- And sometimes what I find with people too

is that you're so used to putting on that watered-down

product that you need more of

that you're using, it's a simple math product.

You're actually, you're just using too much oil.

So if you simply cut the oil down into half

or even a third, then what I tell my clients

is you know what, if you put this serum on

like my CX serum, vitamin C serum,

if you put that on and 10 minutes later

you feel it on your skin, you've put too much on.

- You've put too much.

- So get, within 10 minutes you should have

soft feeling skin, not dry, not oily,

it should be just like to the touch you just feel soft.

So keep cutting back until you get to the point

where you know I need three drops, I need two drops,

I'm two and a half because most of the time

we're just so used to using such high volumes

because that's what those big bottles

come in big bottles so they look nice and big

and you think oh, but you're using three times as much

as you would if you just used an oil.

- Exactly, it's so true.

And another thing that I want everybody to have,

there's two things that I want everybody to have

in their regimen and that's first is rosewater,

that's something that can be used just as a spritz

before you apply your oils or you can use it

as a compress before you apply your oils,

that will bring hydration as well as gentle tightening

and really just beautiful properties

into the skin and then you put your oil on top

so that it keeps that moisture in there but you haven't,

you haven't dehydrated your skin.

The pH is still lower so you're not irritating

your skin in terms of acidity or alkalinity

and you also get the natural aromatherapy from it

which is shown to improve the mood and there are

a lot of skin and health benefits associated

with rosewater, so that's one.

And then aloe vera, an aloe vera plant.

Everybody should have an aloe vera plant in their homes

and it's just really simple to get the gel out.

You just take a vegetable peeler,

peel the leaf off, it exposes the gel inside,

scoop it out, stick it in like a little Nutribullet,

that makes a nice consistency,

and you can apply just a layer of that

as kind of a serum,

and then your oils on top or you can even mix it

with your oils and apply that as your own emulsion

that doesn't contain an emulsifier.

Just for like a quick and easy DIY.

And then honey, raw honey is a beautiful thing

to wash your face with and also to use

as a mask or as a spot treatment.

It is very high in water activity,

it's a humectant, it attracts moisture

into the skin, but it itself does not contain

a lot of water, it has a naturally lower pH

but you're also getting a lot of natural

skin-nourishing microbiome,

- I was gonna say it's loaded with microbiomes.

- It's so good

- Like listen to us we're like ugh,

feed my skin.

- Yeah, so I don't want you to actually look for that

in a skincare product because honey in a skincare product

can actually cause more microbes because it feeds them

but as a standalone DIY skincare regimen step,

either as a cleanser or as a spot treatment

or a mask, it's really beautiful

and it's very hydrating to the skin.

So if you wash your face with honey,

- And then you can always just like lick it off.

(laughs)

- And also, honey's really sticky but it's very easy

to remove with just a gentle warm washcloth

so just apply it to the skin, kinda tap it around a bit,

get things moving, rinse it off with a warm washcloth,

spritz your face with some rosewater

then put on your really nourishing oil serums.

You are good to go.

- So what are the main things you need to know

if you choose to use skincare products

that contain water or water-containing ingredients.

So what's the most important thing to look for?

- If you see a product that contains some sort

of an herbal extract or something with water

or a hydrosol and it says preservative-free, run,

put the product down and step away from it.

There's no such thing as a preservative-free product

that contains water that is safe.

- 'Cause water like we talked about just grows bacteria.

- So either the product is formulated unsafely

or they're lying and they have not listed out

the preservatives and that happens a lot.

We often see products that if, I know where to look

for the sources of the ingredients 'cause that's what I do

but a consumer is not gonna know oh, well where

did they get that ingredient, and then if you go

look at that ingredient, the ingredient itself

might have methylparaben in it but because it's below

a certain percentage of concentration you would never need,

you would never know that as a consumer

because the individual constituents

of raw materials are not necessary to be listed

on labels.

So always be wary of those free-from claims,

it's typically, you know, too good to be true.

- Yeah.

So I love this conversation,

because I love the fact that we're on the same page.

- Yeah.

- With it, and I always think that two voices

are always stronger than one.

- Absolutely.

- Four voices are stronger than two.

I know a lot of people get worried about competition

and things like that, but I applaud people

that can band together and love each other

and spread the word, because my biggest thing

is I really want people to understand

the safer ideas of skincare, and it doesn't

have to be, just because something looks pretty

and is marketed, I don't wanna say correctly,

but marketed, - Marketed well,

- Yeah - Marketed a certain way

- Yeah, marketed well.

Like I always talk about like mineral makeup

is not really safe, it was a marketing ploy

because it sounds safe, and it exploded.

So it's this same idea with marketing.

Marketing just because something looks good

doesn't mean it's good, and I want everyone

to go home, this is your homework,

you have to go home, look at the products

that you're using, especially like the stuff you use

every day and look at the ingredient and see

if the first ingredient is water, that's it.

That's all you gotta do.

That in itself is gonna be an eye-opener

when you look at 10 products and you see

that 10 products out of 10 products have water

listed as the first ingredient.

So really just open your eyes and then you can start

to delve into it and figure out like what do I need

to do to make the change, what do I look for,

obviously you know, you have a course

that I know that you wanna offer everyone.

My products of course Primal Life Organics

are all very, it's an oil-based skincare program

that I developed.

- And it's a beautiful line, I've sampled

your products before, you do a great job.

- Thank you.

And I take that very, from an expert to an expert

so that means a lot to me.

But tell them about your course because they really

want people to really, if you're interested,

if you geek out about this stuff like we do,

Rachael has a great course that you can go through.

So tell them about your course.

- Absolutely, it's called Must-Have Secrets

for Gorgeous Skin, and it is a 10-lesson video course

where you sign up for the course,

you get an email every day with a lesson in it

and it basically takes you through the entire process

that took me years to figure out

and you're gonna get all that information

in these 10 videos, and I talk about what you need

internally to build healthy, beautiful cells

from the inside out with what foods you should

be looking for, also what substances and foods

you should be avoiding.

We talk about lifestyle upgrades that you can make

to support healthy skin, what are things in your house,

in your daily lifestyle, at your workplace

that you should be taking a look at

to kinda run through this checklist like oh,

do I have this, this, this or this?

Okay, well let's fix this and they're all things

that are within your control that if you make

these small changes, they can really make

a big impact overall on your skin.

And then I talk about topical in two ways.

We talk about more ingredients like this,

we talk about ingredients that you should avoid,

ingredients that you should look for,

but as we mentioned in the beginning

of this session today, I'm also an esthetician

so I'm giving you the skinny on what spa treatments

are actually beneficial and which ones really are not.

- Ooh!

- Yeah, there's a lot of - Now it gets dicey

- It does get dicey and unfortunately

there are a lot of treatments that are being done

in spas on a regular, on a very regular basis.

- And they're expensive.

- They are expensive but they're also doing

your skin more harm than good and they're actually

slowing down your skin's healing process

and speeding up your skin's aging process.

And I don't think we want either of those things.

- No, and I talk a little bit about that

every once in awhile too when I talk about

some of the ingredients, like what kills me

is when the vitamin C formulations, vitamin C itself

starts to oxidize, looking at your laughing,

starts to oxidize as soon as it's exposed to air.

It's not oil-soluble so in order to put it in oil,

they have to attach it to something.

- They have to do a lot to it.

- So by the time you, and what they attach it to,

one of the side effects causes cell death.

- Yeah.

- So the whole idea behind buying something

that has vitamin C is that you're going to be

improving your skin, when in reality

they've attached it to something that's going

to cause cell death.

- Pretty ironic. - Isn't that crazy?

- And it happens all the time.

- And we buy into it, we buy into it

and we wonder why we buy this bottle this big

for $200 and we don't look any different, right?

- It's true.

Yeah, and then you know in addition to that,

I talk a lot about mindset in this course

because I'm sure you've seen this with your clients

and your audience as well.

We know a lot of what we're supposed to be doing

to get the results we want but sometimes

we still don't do them, because we're stuck

or because we feel like we don't deserve it

or we feel like it's not for us,

it's for that person.

So I talk about the importance of mindset

and what shifts you really do need to adopt

if you really want to get the results that you say

you want, and make them for you for life.

- Awesome, you area amazing, Rachael.

- And thank you, so are you.

- Thank you.

We're two girls that just love each other.

- We are, yeah.

You should see us on the dance floor.

- Oh my god, oh, let's not go there.

Oh my gosh, that was so funny.

Yeah, we were just at an event recently

thanks to JJ Virgin.

- We wore costumes.

- Yeah, and it was a lot of fun and we had so much fun,

we were dancing maniacs.

So anyway, I totally appreciate you coming on.

And so we'll have in the notes, the show notes

all the information if anybody wants to go

to the course, check it out, and Rachael,

I totally, totally thank you for being who you are,

bringing safe skincare, the knowledge out there,

because so many estheticians, they don't get

into the natural and they get stuck in the artificial

is what I like to call it so I appreciate

when the natural can come out.

So thank you so much for joining us today.

And everybody can check you out,

you have a website as well?

- Yes, so I have RachaelPontillo.com

and it's R-A-C-H-A-E-L-P-O-N-T-I-L-L-O,

- And that'll be in the notes as well, yeah.

- Yep, perfect, and then if you are interested

in actually learning to make your own skincare products

that are safe, like a lot of what we talked about today,

I also have createyourskincare.com.

- Yeah, that's awesome, and you know,

being the creator myself of a company

that creates skincare, I always encourage people

to make their own skincare and even if it's simple,

like leave the really intricate stuff to me.

Like my super berry elixir has a ton of really

good ingredients, so leave that to me,

and that can be your night treatment,

but I always encourage people to just dabble

with making your own.

It's of course gonna be more cost-effective

for you, and it's fun, especially if you have a daughter,

or a son, like get them mixing

- Put them to work

- Yes, and if you're using oils and food-based,

it's kind of fun to do it.

Make yourself a sugar scrub for your face,

make yourself that honey, get raw ingredients

and make them.

So I always, even as the creator of a company

that creates skincare, always encourage people to go out

and make your own, whatever you can, always make your own

when you can, and leave the nitty gritty

and the really delicate stuff to other people

that really love to geek out on that.

Thanks, Rachael, I appreciate it.

- Thank you so much.

- And until the next time we run into each other

on the dance floor - Absolutely

- Sending love to you.

- And you as well, thank you.

- Alright, thanks guys for joining us

and we will catch you next time on The Healthy Me.

Thanks for watching, make sure you subscribe

to keep learning how to create your healthy self.

How to build an abandoned cart email series - Duration: 4:13.

Hello guys!

You are watching SendPulse channel.

My name is Kate and today we're going to focus on abandoned cart emails which encourage

users to complete a purchase.

I will show how these emails work as a series and give you some important tips to get more

revenue out of it.

Let's start!

To begin with, abandoned cart email is a triggered message sent to users who leave items in the

cart without checking out.

These emails motivate customers to finish their order.

Abandoned cart triggers are too times more effective than regular messages by opens,

and they have six times higher CTR.

Relevance and timing is the key to these high rates.

Now that we're done with the theory, let's find out why abandoned cart emails are more

effective as series rather than a single message.

Take a look at the diagram.

As you can see, one email is not enough to get a high profit.

The four-to-five message series becomes irrelevant to the user and two-to-three emails boost

sales by half.

So I recommend you to stick with two or three messages in a series.

And now let's look at a possible scenario of

an abandoned cart email series which will return your potential customer to the purchase.

I suggest starting with a friendly reminder Use the first email to refresh your potential

customer's memory of the abandoned item.

Add an image of the item, its name and price to the template, and the user will understand

at a glance which product you are talking about.

See how Mud Pie remind their subscribers about abandoned products in the shopping cart.

In their email you can see the images and the price of the goods as well as two call

to action buttons — one is at the beginning and the other one is placed in the end.

If the first email didn't work — motivate your subscribers with a financial incentive

Send the second email in two to three days after the first one.

In this message you can include a special offer: a discount, a bonus or free shipping

to push the users to take action.

Look at the example by New Balance.

They draw subscribers' attention by offering to finish the order with 10% off and free

shipping.

In the third email — call for urgency

Fear of missing out can really wake your subscribers up.

Remind about the item left in the cart and mention that it's running out of stock or

add a countdown timer.

All these tricks will hurry the potential customer to go through with the purchase.

That's exactly what NYX did.

Their phrase: 'Hurry back and grab your faves before they're gone!' — adds a

sense of urgency.

Once you've set up the email series — check whether the purchase was made after each message.

This way you won't annoy your subscribers with needless reminders.

One more tip: personalize your subject line with the help of a variable

People like to be called by their name, don't they?

That's the reason why it's a good idea to start the subject line with subscriber's

name, using the variable.

It will draw the attention and boost the opens.

You can see how Ball and Buck apply this tip in their email.

They place the user's name at the begging of the subject line, making it sound more

personalized.

One more tip is to use a variable of the product ID.

Add the full name of the abandoned item to the subject line, as you can see it in the

example by Vans.

That's all for today!

Now you know which abandoned cart emails can motivate your subscribers to complete the

purchase.

Test different variations of your email series, experiment with variables in your subject

lines and find your winning type.

Don't forget to subscribe to our channel and press the bell button to keep up with

the new videos!

Thanks for watching and see you next time!
