Everything You Need To Know About The Slow Loris - Duration: 4:33.

What if I told you that one of the cutest darn animals on the face of the planet was

a nocturnal and venomous bad ass?

Behold!

The fearsome slow loris!

Awwwwww...

Hello adorable primates, it's Natalia but you can call me Dolores the Slow Loris!

We all love adorable animal videos!

And there is one video in particular that's won the hearts of millions.

It features Sonya, a pet slow loris, arms raised, being tickled by her owner.

Many remark, "man, I want a pet slow loris!"

And that's the problem.

First of all, a loris with its arms raised is actually distressed.

And while the video may seem harmless, it has also been devastating to the conservation

of this critically endangered species.

Yes, one of multiple slow loris species, the Javan slow loris, is on the IUCN top 25 most

endangered primate species list.

In fact, up to 80% of slow lorises die before they even reach the market to be sold, so

slow lorises should never- I repeat- never be kept as pets.

Ok, I'm going to climb down from my soap box.

(Natalia hops onto a shorter apple box)

Now that we got that out of the way, let's talk about the myriad of ways the slow loris

is one badass animal.

Oh and loris literally translates to "clown" in Dutch, so slow lorises?

Slow clowns!

But what exactly IS a slow loris?

Let's break down some primate taxonomy, shall we?!

OK.

Slow lorises are primates that live throughout South and Southeast Asia.

But they are neither a monkey nor ape, instead they fall into the category of strepsirrhine.

Y'see, all primates are in the order Primata, and there are two suborders, haplorhini and

strepsirrhini.

Monkeys and apes, including humans, are haplorhines and lemurs, galagos, and lorises are strepsirhines.

Strepsirrhines differ from monkeys and apes in a bunch of ways and are considered to be

more 'primitive' than their haplorhine cousins.

Sorry, slow loris!

Strepsirhines have a wet tip of their nose, called a rhinarium, kinda like your dog or

cat.

This is because they rely on their sense of smell more than their monkey and ape kin.

Some strepsirrhines also have a "toilet claw" or "grooming claw" to comb their

dense fur- they're like the metrosexuals of the primate world.

The eyes of strepsirrhines also possess what's called a tapetum lucidum, a thin reflective

membrane that amplifies light and helps them see at night.

It's this same membrane that allows other mammals to see well at night, like cats, dogs,

or Bigfoot- just kidding.

Or am I?

This comes in handy since many of these strepsirrhines are nocturnal, including the slow loris.

The tapetum lucidum gives them "eye shine".

Y'know that creepy eye glare that cats get at night that makes them resemble soulless

demons in fur coats.

Their nocturnal nature also explains why these animals have huge peepers, which let in more

light.

They've been called "little firefaces" because the shape and the coloration of their

eyes look like little twin flames.

Slow lorises are arboreal, meaning they live in trees.

They spend a majority of their lives moving, you guessed it, slowly and snakelike through

the forest canopy searching for their favorite foods- tree sap, insects, flower nectar, and

fruit!

The reason they appear to move 'snakelike' is they actually have extra vertebrae compared

to other primates.

And they have the one of the longest tongues of primates which allows them to enjoy their

favorite foods, like flower nectar!

But here's the weirdest thing about slow lorises: they're the ONLY venomous primate

in the world!

Well, except for me before I have coffee in the morning.

Rar.

Unlike me though, the slow loris has a gland in the inside of it's elbow called the brachial

gland.

This secretes a pungent fluid that it rubs on branches to communicate with other slow

lorises.

The fluid also happens to be poisonous and includes an allergen that is similar to the

Fel d 1, the allergen in cat saliva.

So it's even more dangerous if you're allergic to cats.

And since the slow lorises lick their brachial gland throughout the day, if they were to

bite you with their extremely sharp teeth, you would most likely go into anaphylactic

shock.

In fact, one of the cruelest parts of the slow loris pet trade, is that their teeth

are cut down to render them harmless.

This is a painful process and once done, they are unable to defend themselves if they are

ever released into the wild.

So, slow lorises are pretty badass, but they're also on the brink of extinction because of

hunting and the pet trade.

Moral of this story: they may be ridiculously cute, but should NEVER be kept as pets.

It's cruel for them and potentially dangerous to you!

The slow loris may be nocturnal but humans, not so much.

Find out why in this video here.

Not-So-Naughty Gingerbread Smoothie Recipe - Va Va Veggies - Duration: 4:07.

That wasn't supposed to happen.

Preg-problems.

Hi guys.

We're the Veggie Vixens, Jekka and Savvy, and today we're bringing you our recipe for

Not - So - Naughty Gingerbread Smoothies.

Say what?

So this smoothie is protein-packed.

I normally make it with protein, with all the protein, hemp and chia and my protein

powder, and then I add coffee to it.

I add 1/4 cup of really strong coffee and it makes it like a frappaccino.

So you'll make this a your morning meal?

Oh ya, for sure.

Especially with the coffee because then if I'm like, on the go, I don't want to carry

two cups, so it's like super easy just to throw it in there and you have a frappaccino.

So you can make this smoothie either as a meal if you add protein powder, or don't add

protein powder and just let it be dessert.

So whether you're vegetarian, or vegan, or plant-based, or you just want to eat healthier,

breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert - This drink's got it all.

Oh my.

Let's get right into it.

For this recipe, we used maple syrup, almond milk, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, protein powder,

steel-cut oats, molasses, and chia seeds.

First up, 1 and 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk.

This is unsweetened.

You can do plain or vanilla, whatevs.

Let's see.

It would help if I f-- opened it first.

Then add 1/2 teaspoon of molasses, 1 - 2 Tbsp. maple syrup, 2 Tbsp. steel-cut oats, and 1

- 2 Tbsp chia seeds.

We'll do 1 and 1/2 with this one.

Then you can add you're protein.

This is all-natural protein, all it is is raw whole-grain brown rice protein.

It's delicious.

You can use any of your plant-based protein, it's just not recommended to have, you know,

any sweetener, anything like that.

So one scoop of that.

Next you'll add your spices.

1/4 tsp. cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, and 1/4 tsp of ginger.

Next you can add your optional ingredients.

You can add 1 - 2 Tbsp. of hemp seed if you want more protein.

I love hemp seeds, so I always add it.

Also add 1/2 cup of cold coffee.

I love it with coffee, but we'll just do the normal shake.

Then add 3 - 6 ice cubes and blend together until perfectly smooth.

Now for the best part.

And there you have it, our recipe for not- so- naughty gingerbread smoothies.

If you like this recipe video, please consider subscribing to be the first to know when we

share a new one.

5 Things You May Not Have Known About Hearthstone - Duration: 7:09.

Things You Might Not Know About Hearthstone

Whats up guys its me Jeremy!

It's pretty crazy to think that even though hearthstone development began a whole eight

years ago, there's still a lot of interesting tidbits and facts that a lot of people might

not be aware of!

Some of them might seem pretty obvious, while others might surprise you, but regardless

there's no such thing as having too much information and we can definitely learn something

from even the most obscure things in the game.

So without further ado, let's take a look at some of the things you might not know about

Hearthstone!

First up let's talk a little bit about Ashbringer, the legendary weapon you get to equip when

Tirion Fordring dies.

Ashbringer is unique in that similar weapons aren't legendary.

For example Medivh also equips a named weapon when you cast him, his great staff Atiesh,

but it's not legendary, it doesn't even have a rarity symbol.

Similarly Kazakus potions, Rafaam cards, Ysera Cards, and many other spells and weapons produced

by legendaries are not themselves legendary, but Ashbringer is.

There's lots of other weapons and spells, both generated by legendaries and ones that

are just cards themselves, that are super important to the story, so it seems unlikely

Ashbringer is the only one important enough to be legendary.

It seems like a pretty easy patch fix to make it not have a rarity, just like all the other

similar cards, so whatever the case it's pretty interesting that it has stayed the only legendary

weapon or spell in the game for such a long time.

Another pretty interesting factoid is about the gold cap on accounts.

There is actually a limit to how much gold you can have on a single account, although

most of us are too poor to ever see it.

The goldcap actually used to be 20000 gold until March 2014.

Now 20000 is a pretty low cap, especially for people who grind arena and their dailies

every single day, so Blizzard changed it to 999,999 gold, and also implemented a warning

once you hit 997,999 gold.

Now that's a pretty crazy amount, giving you the ability to buy 9999 packs, and it

seems doubtful that anyone would ever hit it, making the warning pretty funny.

Still with things like Heroic Tavern Brawl that give huge rewards currently being explored,

maybe we'll see a way to earn tons of gold in the future and people will actually approach

the cap.

Next up let's talk about a pretty interesting patch change to Shaman's hero power.

People who played in the closed beta will definitely remember this, but for the majority

of you that don't, Healing totem actually used to heal ALL CHARACTERS for 1 at the end

of the turn.

This meant that it healed your hero too.

Now Blizzard decided this was a little bit too strong and changed it in closed Beta patch

1.0.0.3890, but it's pretty interesting to think about how that would have changed

Shaman as a class today.

It's pretty laughable now to think about making the Shaman class even better, but there

was a stretch of time before tunnel trogg when it just wasn't very good, and it'd

be interesting to see how much even a miniscule change like that would have made it better.

The next cool thing we'll be talking about doesn't come from the game itself, but rather

from the dev's statements during interviews.

In 2014 the Executive Producer of Hearthstone said that "achievements will eventually

be added to the game".

And the Devs reaffirmed that they are definitely still thinking about adding them as of October

2016.

Now this is pretty interesting to think about, because adding achievements to a game that's

already been out for super long is kind of awkward for both the devs and the players.

If they make the achievements pretty simple to get, than most people will probably have

gotten them already.

If they make it so that your past games and data don't count towards achievements, than

a lot of veteran players will be unhappy that everything they've done so far doesn't

count.

If they make the achievements super hard to get, than most of the casual fanbase will

probably be unhappy.

Still blizzard is really creative and have done a great job with the game so far so we

have no doubt that they'll be able to come up with

a good solution and we would love to see achievements in the future.

Last but not least, one thing people might not know about the development team is that

expansions are actually usually created 2 sets in advance.

According to Team 5 they are "already working a lot on future expansions" including "not

only the next expansions but the one after that as well".

This makes a lot of sense since they have to take the time to design a whole set, test

all the cards, get the names and lore for them right, find or commission art for them,

and then make sure they are implemented correctly into the game.

This is also probably the main reason why sometimes the cards they release in sets don't

seem to help the state of the meta, or don't make weak classes better until the next couple

expansions.

For example Priest might have been really good when they were designing purify and so

they made some weak class cards for priest two expansions in advance.

Then with the next set priest became really weak, but it was too late to change anything

about purify before it got released.

This is super interesting and definitely something to think about before we bash on the devs

too much about balance issues.

Those are some interesting tidbits about the game, what's your favorite fact that people

might not know about Hearthstone?

Let us know in the comments!

And it looks like that's gonna be it from me, if you enjoyed the video drop a like,

subscribe if you want, thanks for watching, and I'll see you guys next time!

Trump Touts Accomplishments In First Presidential Weekly Address - Duration: 2:40.

My fellow Americans, one week ago

our administration assumed the enormous

responsibilities that you the American

people have placed in us. There is much

work to do in the days ahead. But I

wanted to give you an update on what we

have accomplished already. In my first

few days as your president, I've met with

the leaders of some of our nation's top

manufacturing companies and labor unions.

My message was clear. We want to make

things in America and we want to use

American workers. Since my election many

companies have announced they're no

longer moving jobs out of our country

but are instead keeping and creating

jobs right here in America. Every day we

are fulfilling the promise we made to

the American people. Here are just a few

of the executive actions that I have

taken in the last few days. An order to

prepare for repealing and replacing

Obamacare. It's about time. The withdrawal from

the trans-pacific partnership so that we

can negotiate one-on-one deals that

protect American workers. That would have

been a disastrous deal for our workers.

An order to begin construction of the

Keystone and Dakota Access Pipelines

following a renegotiation of terms with

a requirement that pipelines installed

in America be built with American steel

and manufactured here. A directive to

expedite permits for new infrastructure

and new manufacturing plants. An order to

immediately begin the border wall and to

crack down on sanctuary cities. They are

not safe.

We have to take care of that horrible

situation. This administration has hit

the ground running at a record pace.

Everybody's talking about it. We're doing

it with speed and we're doing it with

intelligence. And we will never ever stop

fighting on behalf of the American

people.

God bless you. and God bless America.

How To Buy A Mountain Bike - 5 Tips To Get The Right MTB For You - Duration: 3:55.

- Buying a new mountain bike is really exciting

but with so many different disciplines out there

and different types of bike,

it can be a choice that you could get wrong.

- We've worked in bike shops,

we've been pro racers, we've been mechanics

so with all that experience

we are gonna give you guys a few more tips.

- So this is five tips on buying a new bike.

So the first consideration

is the sort of riding you're gonna do

and that often comes down to where you live

and the type of riding you find fun.

There's all different types of mountain bikes

going from the hardtail that can

probably do everything quite well

to cross-country bikes to all sorts of different

full-suspension bikes and downhill bikes

at the very longest travel end.

I come from a downhill background.

Where I live, there's no big mountains or chairlifts,

so this is my bike.

It's 160 mm travel.

I like going down hills fast,

but I need to pedal to the top.

This works brilliantly for doing that.

Now, I am very lucky and I've got a few different bikes

that suit different disciplines,

but I guess most people aren't that lucky

so it's really, try to think about

the type of bike you want,

that's going to suit you the best.

Also, there are places where you can test out bikes

or demo them to try and see if that bike suits you.

- Now, let me tell you guys that mountain biking

is not a cheap sport to get into.

And in fact, it can become really addictive

because you actually start to want to upgrade components

on your bike and make it the best you possibly can.

But when you do walk into that bike shop,

make sure that you have a budget in mind

and you try to stick to it.

If possible, even think about having some money left over

so you can get things like a helmet,

you can get some spares for your bike,

things like tyres and inner tubes.

You also want to think about getting

some cycling-specific clothing

and perhaps even some protection.

At a later date, once you're really into the sport,

that's when you can start to think about upgrading your bike

and perhaps even getting a better model.

- Number three, making sure you buy the right size bike.

Now just like buying clothes,

the best way to actually get the right size

is to try that bike out.

And that might be possible

if you're buying your bike from a shop,

but many people these days are buying their bikes online.

So now might be the time to get out your tape measure.

Check out the manufacturers website

and on there should be some detailed specs

and geometries to measure up your old bike

or a friend's bike that you know fits

and compare them to their website

and make sure you buy the right sized bike.

- If you're new to the sport

and don't know too much about mountain biking

then you've probably come to the right place

because you have found GMBN.

When you're looking for a bike,

make sure you take some advice.

You could go down to your local mountain bike shop,

you could go and ask a friend who already rides

or you could have some questions for us.

We do a weekly show called Ask GMBN

where we answer all your guys' questions

you leave in the comments on videos

and we pick the very best ones.

And this is where you're going to find out

if you're getting the right bike for you.

- So you've decided the bike you wanna buy,

you've considered your budget,

now it's time to actually buy it.

It's often cheaper to actually buy a complete bike

then go down the custom route

of buying a frame then buying all the bits.

But, even when you buy a complete bike,

there still are some options.

Sometimes you get the option of having a better frame

but with cheaper components for the same price

as a cheaper frame and better components.

Personally, I would always go for the first one,

so better frame and cheaper components

because everything else is going to wear out

quicker than your frame.

So, when it comes time to replace those bits,

that might be the time to upgrade them

and end up with a nicer bike.

- So there you go, there's our top-five tips

for buying a new bike.

And if you think that we've missed anything

or you have some questions,

then why not leave it in the comments section down below

and we'll get back to you

and answer you guys and help you out.

- Well thanks very much, I think I'll take it.

- Oh, great.

- Click over here to subscribe to GMBN

and click down here for which bike for which discipline.

- And if you click right here you're going to get to

how to buy a cross-country bike.

- Give us a thumbs up if you want a new bike.

- Yeah, defo.
