hi I'm Sophie and welcome to my world well what would the holidays be without

candles I love candles but some people get a little nervous about flame with

children so today I'm gonna teach you how to take a TP tube like this one

and turn it into an adorable little candle like this one or this one I'm

gonna teach you how to make it right now for this project you'll need a toilet

paper tube scrapbook paper silver gold and red pipe cleaners hot glue gun

double stick tape or glue stick a small square of tissue paper in red yellow or

orange scissors a pen pencil and a ruler so I've got my scrapbook paper here and

I've got my pen just gonna take my little toilet paper tube lay it at the

end and then just mark go to the other end here and mark it now at this

point you can use your ruler lay a line and cut it but I've got this handy dandy

fabulous cutting machine so I'm just gonna take this line it up with those

two little lines to make sure that it's straight and just cut now I don't need

this full sheet so what I'm gonna do is just take this and wrap it around so I

figure out exactly how much I need and usually you can get two of these out of

each one and just mark it right here

then I'm using my scissors just cut straight down at that mark

now I'm going to do is I'm gonna take a piece of this fabulous double stick tape

that I really love and lay it long from one end to the other and just give it a

snip here and then I'll peel this off leaving the double stick tape behind

this is great like I say I actually got at Oriental Trading and I really love it

it's great double stick tape then I'm gonna lay my piece of paper right on top

right at the edge there where that double stick tape is rub it flip it over

and I'm gonna lay a line of double stick tape right here now you can if you want

to you don't have double stick tape you can use glue stick for sure or you can

even hot glue I'm just gonna snip that little in there basically all you're

doing is covering this tube with a pretty fabric or paper

or whatever you want to use you can even use duct tape or washi tape if you want

now as you can see I'm just rolling this and sealing the end there we go my tube

is covered now I'm going to make my wick you can use gold or silver I want to use

the gold because it kind of looks flame'ish when it gets mixed in with the

red okay so I'm gonna wrap it around just like that with a little bit of

extra so see how I've got that so those two are crossed then I slide this off the end

and I twist and it's like I'm making a little lasso here so see it's like a

little bubble blower or lasso and I just fold this edge up so now it looks like a

little halo fold this over into the center and at the center point I put my

finger at the center point and just pop this up so now it stands straight up in

the middle this is gonna become my wick now to make this go inside what I do is

I take my finger and just push this and turn it into a heart shape

and then I can lay this inside my tube like that and it should stay pretty darn

secure if you need to pull this up with your scissors you can do so because what

I'm gonna do now is just give it a little dab of hot glue just to make sure

it stays so you can see here I'm just gonna put a little dab of hot glue here

right there and a little dab of hot glue right there

let that dry really good whilethat's happening you can do your

flame one of two ways I like to use a pipe cleaner method and what I do there

is I just take a pencil take my red sparkly pipe cleaner and I wrap it

around my pencil three times one two three and just pull that off and it

makes like a little mini spring but it also makes a great flame but you can

also use a little piece of tissue paper and that's that's great if you don't

have this kind of sparkly pipe cleaner and all I'm gonna do is I've got a

little square here that is about two inches by three inches and I'm just

going to smoosh it together give it a little twist at the bottom get a little

pinch at the top and it makes a little flame and then I can just put a little

bead of hot glue right there cut this right here cuz I don't need all of it

okay just cut that like that put a little dab of hot glue and glue it right

in place right there but I'm gonna be using this fabulous red springy dinghy

put a little bit of glue on here not much and then I'm just gonna slide this

on

watch your fingers so you don't burn yourself but just slide it on right

there and there you have a fabulous candle and you can see you can line them

up all these different pretty patterns I can compliment each other to make it a

really nice little design and there you have it your very own candles that you

can leave burning on your mantel all night long for more great ideas check us
