[Interviewer] We're filming.

We're filming?

[Interviewer] Yeah. Okay.

[Interviewer] Question for Dan, should you go all in

on one idea or try many out?

Should you go all in with one idea or try many out?

You notice sometimes when you ask me questions like this,

I always give you different ways of looking at things.

You notice sometimes when you ask me a question, instead of

just giving you an answer, I like to teach you how to think.

How do you look at these things and sometimes you notice,

I actually give you more questions than just answers

because I want you to think independently

about these things.

So, when you look at any project, any task or anything

you want to pursue, do you go all in and just do one thing

or do you try many things out?

The question really is asking what if

this thing doesn't work or what would I do if it fails.

That's really the question you're asking.

So, that depends on the stage you are at,

meaning maybe your age, maybe where you are

in terms of your experience.

Let me give you a very simple answer

how to look at these things.

Number one, if you are just getting started

and you are trying to still figure out your path,

figure out your career,

what's your passion, what's your purpose.

What's the vehicle that you wanna choose?

Then I say you wanna try a lot of things out.

It's like when you are playing different sports

at a young age and you don't know what you're good at.

You've tried to play basketball, you try to play football,

you try to play tennis or you try to play golf or you play

different sports and you don't know what you're good at yet,

so you need to try many things.

Once you find that, you know what actually?

These sports I don't enjoy.

These ones it's a no for me.

I don't enjoy playing that.

I actually like playing sports with other people.

I prefer soccer or I prefer basketball,

some kind of team sports.

Cool, so a lot of sports you can eliminate.

Then from there, you gotta pick the ones that you believe

that you have the highest probability of succeeding,

doing well just like business, just in life.

Once you know this is the career, this is the business

that I know I could excel in, this is the industry

that I have an interest, this is the industry

I'm passionate about.

Good, now you can focus on putting all your energy

and go all in in those things, but before that,

you sometimes need to try a lot of things.

Sometimes I see the question on social media where you're

asking me about, Dan, I'm just doing this or I'm trying

different things, I don't know if I should do this.

Those questions, it tells me chances are you haven't tried

enough things because if you try enough things, meaning

you failed, you fail enough, you will know that's definitely

a big no-no or yes, this is definitely what I wanna do.

And you wanna build everything around your strength.

I don't believe the whole idea, the philosophy

of working on a bunch of your weaknesses.

I think you should find what you're naturally good at,

what you're naturally gifted and focus on your strength.

If you spend your life working on your weaknesses,

at the end of your life,

you have a lot of strong weaknesses.

But if you spend all your time working on your strength,

you can make that world class and you can just go all in

with that one thing and build everything around that,

then you become unstoppable.

So, that's my philosophy.

So, it depends on where you're at.

First, figure out maybe depends on your age, your stage,

try many things.

Second, then you can go all in.

So, it's a question of timing, not so much of

should you do it or should you not do it.

It depends on all where you are today.

The Most Important Skill Nobody Taught You - Duration: 9:08.

Before dying at the age of 39, Blaise Pascal made huge contributions to both physics and

mathematics, notably in fluids, geometry, and probability.

This work, however, would influence more than just the realm of the natural sciences. Many

fields that we now classify under the heading of social science did, in fact, also grow

out of the foundation he helped lay. Interestingly enough, much of this was done

in his teen years, with some of it coming in his twenties. As an adult, inspired by

a religious experience, he actually started to move towards philosophy and theology.

Right before his death, he was hashing out fragments of private thoughts that would later

be released as a collection by the name of Pensées.

While the book is mostly a mathematician's case for choosing a life of faith and belief,

the more curious thing about it is its clear and lucid ruminations on what it means to

be human. It's a blueprint of our psychology long before psychology was deemed a formal

discipline. There is enough thought-provoking material

in it to quote, and it attacks human nature from a variety of different angles, but one

of its most famous thoughts aptly sums up the core of his argument:

"All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room

alone." According to Pascal, we fear the silence of

existence, we dread boredom and instead choose aimless distraction, and we can't help but

run from the problems of our emotions into the false comforts of the mind.

The issue at the root, essentially, is that we never learn the art of solitude.

Today, more than ever, Pascal's message rings true. If there is one word to describe

the progress made in the last 100 years, it's connectedness.

Information technologies have dominated our cultural direction. From the telephone to

the radio to the TV to the internet, we have found ways to bring us all closer together,

enabling constant worldly access. I can sit in my office in Canada and transport

myself to practically anywhere I want through Skype. I can be on the other side of the world

and still know what is going on at home with a quick browse.

I don't think I need to highlight the benefits of all this. But the downsides are also beginning

to show. Beyond the current talk about privacy and data collection, there is perhaps an even

more detrimental side-effect here. We now live in a world where we're connected

to everything except ourselves. If Pascal's observation about our inability

to sit quietly in a room by ourselves is true of the human condition in general, then the

issue has certainly been augmented by an order of magnitude due to the options available

today. The logic is, of course, seductive. Why be

alone when you never have to? Well, the answer is that never being alone

is not the same thing as never feeling alone. Worse yet, the less comfortable you are with

solitude, the more likely it is that you won't know yourself. And then, you'll spend even

more time avoiding it to focus elsewhere. In the process, you'll become addicted to

the same technologies that were meant to set you free.

Just because we can use the noise of the world to block out the discomfort of dealing with

ourselves doesn't mean that this discomfort goes away.

Almost everybody thinks of themselves as self-aware. They think they know how they feel and what

they want and what their problems are. But the truth is that very few people really do.

And those that do will be the first to tell how fickle self-awareness is and how much

alone time it takes to get there. In today's world, people can go their whole

lives without truly digging beyond the surface-level masks they wear; in fact, many do.

We are increasingly out of touch with who we are, and that's a problem.

If we take it back to the fundamentals — and this is something Pascal touches on, too — our

aversion to solitude is really an aversion to boredom.

At its core, it's not necessarily that we are addicted to a TV set because there is

something uniquely satisfying about it, just like we are not addicted to most stimulants

because the benefits outweigh the downsides. Rather, what we are really addicted to is

a state of not-being-bored. Almost anything else that controls our life

in an unhealthy way finds its root in our realization that we dread the nothingness

of nothing. We can't imagine just being rather than doing. And therefore, we look

for entertainment, we seek company, and if those fail, we chase even higher highs.

We ignore the fact that never facing this nothingness is the same as never facing ourselves.

And never facing ourselves is why we feel lonely and anxious in spite of being so intimately

connected to everything else around us. Fortunately, there is a solution. The only

way to avoid being ruined by this fear — like any fear — is to face it. It's to

let the boredom take you where it wants so you can deal with whatever it is that is really

going on with your sense of self. That's when you'll hear yourself think, and that's

when you'll learn to engage the parts of you that are masked by distraction.

The beauty of this is that, once you cross that initial barrier, you realize that being

alone isn't so bad. Boredom can provide its own stimulation.

When you surround yourself with moments of solitude and stillness, you become intimately

familiar with your environment in a way that forced stimulation doesn't allow. The world

becomes richer, the layers start to peel back, and you see things for what they really are,

in all their wholeness, in all their contradictions, and in all their unfamiliarity.

You learn that there are other things you are capable of paying attention to than just

what makes the most noise on the surface. Just because a quiet room doesn't scream

with excitement like the idea of immersing yourself in a movie or a TV show doesn't

mean that there isn't depth to explore there. Sometimes, the direction that this solitude

leads you in can be unpleasant, especially when it comes to introspection — your

thoughts and your feelings, your doubts and your hopes — but in the long-term, it's

far more pleasant than running away from it all without even realizing that you are.

Embracing boredom allows you to discover novelty in things you didn't know were novel; it's

like being an unconditioned child seeing the world for the first time. It also resolves

the majority of internal conflicts.

The more the world advances, the more stimulation it will provide as an incentive for us to

get outside of our own mind to engage with it.

While Pascal's generalization that a lack of comfort with solitude is the root of all

our problems may be an exaggeration, it isn't an entirely unmerited one.

Everything that has done so much to connect us has simultaneously isolated us. We are

so busy being distracted that we are forgetting to tend to ourselves, which is consequently

making us feel more and more alone. Interestingly, the main culprit isn't our

obsession with any particular worldly stimulation. It's the fear of nothingness — our

addiction to a state of not-being-bored. We have an instinctive aversion to simply being.

Without realizing the value of solitude, we are overlooking the fact that, once the fear

of boredom is faced, it can actually provide its own stimulation. And the only way to face

it is to make time, whether every day or every week, to just sit — with our thoughts,

our feelings, with a moment of stillness. The oldest philosophical wisdom in the world

has one piece of advice for us: know yourself. And there is a good reason why that is.

Without knowing ourselves, it's almost impossible to find a healthy way to interact with the

world around us. Without taking time to figure it out, we don't have a foundation to built

the rest of our lives on. Being alone and connecting inwardly is a skill

nobody ever teaches us. That's ironic because it's more important than most of the ones

they do. Solitude may not be the solution to everything,

but it certainly is a start.

The Best 15 New Nintendo Switch Games Coming Out This Week! - Duration: 13:09.

Hey how's it going.

My name's Dallan and it's a great day to be a Nintendo fan because there's plenty of new

games coming to the switch this week but let's not waste our time with those games that aren't

important or aren't going to be good.

Let's focus on the 15 games that are coming out this week that are worth your time.

Now let's start this list off with a game that you should be buying day 1.

The game is called Book of unwritten tales and it's an absolute masterpiece.

It's a game that everyone should play through at least once.

The game will have you joining the unique and wonderful characters of Wilbur Ivo Nate

and Critter and another classic point and click adventure and the wicked world of Aventasia.

I can't say this enough the game has an absolutely fantastic story and a fantasy world that will

have you playing the point and click adventure for around 20 hours.

Now don't worry if you've never played a click and point adventure.

This is a great game to start on because it has so many fun interesting puzzles for you

to try out.

In my opinion I think this is an absolutely great game for anyone to try out because this

is a port and it's proven to be an absolute masterpiece.

Now depending on what gaming review site you check out the game is gonna have somewhere

between a 9 to 10 out of 10.

It's an absolutely marvelous tale of these four unique characters.

Now the game is going to come out February 5th and it's gonna cost 30 bucks and I think

for the 20 hours of game play you're gonna get from this game that it's worth every penny.

But that is enough of the game book of unwritten tales.

Let's get onto the next game.

That is not a port and is gonna be completely new when it comes out.

The game is called the stillness of the wind and it's got a pretty unique take on a venture

farming slash survival game.

The game will have you playing as Talma who's approaching the final years of her life.

Talma, like most old people are very stumper and even though one by one everyone from her

village left, she decided to stay.

Now because Talma is the last person in her town, it's up to her to take care of her whole

homestead and actually has to barter from travelers to get anything new from my understanding

at least.

Now normally getting letters from your friends and family is an amazing thing to get especially

if you're a grandma but the catch here is that these letters are kind of disturbing

and Talma feels like her way of life is gonna be washed away from this world.

she doesn't know.

So, make sure you help Talma on February 7.

Keep her homestead and keep her way of life.

Plus, the game's only like eleven bucks is even on sale right now.

So, it sounds like a steal of a deal.

Now this next game that's coming to the Nintendo switch is not only an attentive switch exclusive

well to my knowledge but the game is also made by three young best friends.

And what can I say when there's passion in gaming the game comes out amazing.

The game is called reverie sweet as addition.

In the game you'll be playing the least likely of heroes a small child just on a holiday

break with restless spirits threatening the island.

This young child has to go through some dangerous dungeons across a variety of environments

to try to put the spirits of the island to rest.

And just like Zelda the game has unique dungeons that you have to fight and puzzle your way

through to get to the end.

And I think a giant selling feature of this game for all us Nintendo fans is these classic

graphics the game offers.

The game is coming out February 7th and it's gonna be 13 dollars.

I don't know if I'm gonna to pick this up day one so let me know in the comments below

if you're gonna pick it up and how you like it.

This is another game produced by Kyrie Rowe soft who's just makes fantastic simulations

strategy games that are gonna get you sitting there hooked, wishing you could do something

else but all you can do is sit there and click another button and play for another minute.

Now in this game by this publisher pocket academy you actually get to make your own

dream school which I wish I could have done as a kid.

Now the really cool thing about this is you really do get to customize your school.

You get to choose if you want to be more learning base or sponsor based or art based or even

somewhere in between.

The game is really all up to you.

Now here's the real downside about this game.

Now the game's coming out February 7th and it's gonna to cost 12 bucks which you may

think that's not a lot of money but you can buy the game on your phone for only five dollars.

To my knowledge there's nothing really different between the paid phone version of the game

and the switch version, so I really think this company is just trying to chip off us

Nintendo fans.

That's my personal opinion though.

Let me know what you think.

Let me know if you think this company is just trying to take advantage of us Nintendo fans

or if it's a good value for twelve dollars.

Now you know what's gonna be a great deal for twelve dollars.

Magic scroll tactics and it's the next game we're going to talk about.

This game has a very unique twist to the Fire Emblem game play and I'm really interested

in trying it out because it actually kind of seems fun so magic scroll tactics is a

side scrolling tactical RPG with a unique combat system and when they say unique they

truly mean unique.

This unique combat system of this game is truly just like fire emblem but is in 2D.

But the only difference in this game is that you're really gonna want the high ground because

that's gonna be your key to victory.

So, this game has been out for a little less than a year on steam which is really good

news for us Nintendo fans because it means they tried this game out for us and their

reviews right now are very positive.

So, you can feel pretty confident in buying this game.

Magic School tactics comes out February 7th and you can guarantee it that I'll be buying

this and playing the shits out of it.

This next game that's coming out to the switch is actually a still of a deal because it's

actually two games and only cost 20 bucks.

Plus, the game itself is very unique as it's an RPG that the further you progress in the

game the graphics style changes.

Now the first game in the set is called evil land and it's a journey through the history

of action slash adventure gaming.

This journey will take you from monochrome graphics to full 3D graphics and from those

active time battles to real time boss fights all with plenty of humor and I think you're

really gonna enjoy it.

Now evil land 2 which is the second game in the series which comes in this bundle is pretty

so much of the first one and the graphics will change as you travel throughout the game.

Overall both of the games are full of humor and references to classic games.

The Evil land series brings a truly epic and extraordinary adventure anything like you've

ever played before.

This next game we're going to talk about, I'm not 100 percent sure how I feel about

it but I'm pretty sure it's gonna make tons of Nintendo switch owners very happy.

The game is called Defense Grid 2 and it's an award-winning tower defense game and the

only thing I really have against it, is that I played a lot of Warcraft 3 as a kid and

I played a lot of winter Maul, the custom game on it that was another classic tower

defense game.

Now Defense Grid 2 is basically just like every other tower defense game including winner

Maul.

The only difference here is that now you can defend your base wherever whenever on the

Nintendo switch.

Now Defense Grid 2 has 26 missions in its campaign plus a cooperative mode where you

can play classic tower defense with your friends.

Now don't worry about the game being too easy because the game does have four different

difficulties so you can choose the level you want to play at.

Plus, the game itself what tons of replay ability because there's 40 tower upgrades

with 5 different power levels each.

Plus, there's six special weapons that you can unlock.

So even though Defense Grid 2 is not a Warcraft 3 mod it looks amazing and I really want to

get a good tower defense game that's not on my phone that's actually high quality that

I can take anywhere.

And speaking of high-quality games another triple A game is landing on the Nintendo switch

this week.

The game is called blaze blue central fiction and I'm sure all the fighting game lovers

are so excited to have this game come to the Nintendo switch.

For those of you who don't know blaze Blue is a pretty big deal in the fighting game

genre and according to them they're actually the most played 2D fighting game in the world

and they feature beautiful graphics and a well-designed fighting system that really

takes a long time to master.

Now because this is the special edition and includes all the DLC characters the system

voices and additional colors that otherwise you would have to buy on other systems.

In total the game has thirty-five unique characters that you can use to beat the snot out of each

other.

So, if you've never played blaze blue or if you're a longtime blaze blue fan I recommend

you pick this game up for the Nintendo switch when it comes out February 7.

Now this next game we're gonna talk about just like blaze Blue has an amazing art style

and it's called Away Journey to the Unexpected.

And can I just say I'm a little biased towards this game because before I even knew what

the game was.

As soon as I saw the art style I was hooked and determined to buy it.

So, this game Away Journey to the Unexpected is actually a feel good FBS and it's a colorful

adventure combining action, negotiation and rogue like elements.

The main character that you are gonna play as is just a kid that's neither a hero nor

a warrior.

And just like a classic anime even though you're just a kid with the power of friendship

you will overcome every obstacle that happens that step in your way.

So, if you really enjoy anime and really like the look of this game it's only going to cost

you 17 bucks to journey around its colorful world featuring 2D characters living in this

crazy 3D world.

Then this next game we're gonna talk about is a game I can't even believe was made.

The game is called stunt kite party and I honestly can't believe anyone would build

a game based around stunt kites.

But wait there's more because these stunt kites aren't even stunt kites.

According to the game makers stun kite party is a family friendly party game with an exciting

storyline and endless fun.

Now one thing I do have to say is even though this game has a weird premise I do think it

could be a fantastic party game looking at the gameplay.

Besides the story mode there are 10 challenging game modes that you and your friends can play.

So, this does have a lot of playability in it.

Plus, it isn't a Nintendo switch exclusive to my knowledge but wow I just gotta say I

never expected a game to be about flying kites trying to pick up balloons fight space aliens

or stop asteroids from hitting the Earth.

So, if this game looks good to you it's coming out February 8th and it's going to cost 10

bucks.

I'm personally not going to get it so I need one of you guys to buy it and let me know

how it is.

The next game on the list is called Oniken unstoppable edition and it's really a throwback

to gaming.

The game feels like it's straight out of the 80s with the only exception being that maybe

the controls are better and just like many of those 1980 games you're gonna die a lot

and a lot in this game.

Other than that, there's just not much more to say about this game it's just a classic

retro action 1980s indie game.

The game comes out February 8th and actually that same day the publisher is releasing another

one of its classic 80 games.

This other classic 1980 game that's coming out on the same day is called Odallus the

dark call.

Now just like the other game we just talked about this game is gonna be insanely hard

with that classic 1980s fill.

But the only difference is I think this game's longer and it's gonna feature about eight

plus hours of gameplay depending on how good you are at the game.

The game is gonna be having you play as haggis a battle-weary warrior who must wield his

sword once more to rescue his son from the darkness.

Now let's get away from these 1980 games and let's talk about a game coming to the Nintendo

switch this week with modern day graphics.

Now the game's name needs some work because it's called Monster Energy Supercross the

video game 2 which is just an absolute mouthful to say.

But don't let the name fool you.

This game is a dirt bike Supercross dream come true.

Now the second game in the series is gonna have you living like a champion with its updated

Career Mode.

New challenges sponsors and incredible prizes that are all waiting just for you.

Plus, a really cool feature of the game is it's gonna let you customize your bike and

rider with over 3000 different objects.

Plus, Monster Energy Supercross the official video game too now has an updated track editor

so you can actually make your own tracks very similar to Mario Maker and you're gonna be

able to share them with your friends so they can try your tracks out as well.

The game is coming out February 8th and it is gonna cost about 60 bucks and that's because

it is a really high-quality game.

That being said though I personally wouldn't buy this unless you're a big Supercross fan.

Now I did save the best game for last but before we get to that last game let me slip

in one more game that I personally am gonna play a ton of.

The game is nothing special.

It's called Food Truck tycoon and it is Nintendo switch exclusive but it only costs 350 and

that's about the right price for the game.

The thing is I just absolutely love tycoon games and I love getting fat at food trucks.

So, this game was like designed for me.

Now food truck tycoon is gonna let you live your dream of owning a food truck without

the risk of actually going out of business and without actually having to make food in

the cold.

Overall, I think you will find a little bit of everything in this game because there are

gonna be 60 levels to explore with over 50 dishes for you to serve up.

There really isn't much more to say about the game.

So, I think I'm just gonna end it there.

Now I told you I was gonna save the best for last.

And I wasn't joking.

The game is a first-person action adventure game inspired by Arabian Nights and it's from

senior bios shock developers and it's called City of Brass.

The game is gonna have you become a daring thief armed with a seminar in a city of brass

wops I shouldn't fail to say that you're also gonna have a whip with you that's gonna come

in handy more than once.

Either way the game is in and require a lot of strategy and on the toes thinking because

if you don't beat the level before the time runs out you lose.

The game comes out February 8th and it's going to cost 20 bucks and that's it for the 15

good Nintendo games that are coming out this week.

As always let me know if there's another game that came out that I didn't put on this list

that you think is gonna be a great game.

Make sure you like this video and subscribe to this channel and I will see you next time.
