Ali Messer's Illness/Disease on Teen Mom 2: What You Need to Know | Heavy.com

Aliannah Messer, the young daughter of Leah Messer, star of Teen Mom 2, has been struggling with a form of muscular dystrophy called Titin's muscular dystrophy — a genetic disease that causes progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass — which is incredibly uncommon in children.

Leah has had to watch her daughter slowly deteriorate right before her eyes, and has been sharing her emotional and inspiring journey with her fans since the day she found out about her daughter's affliction.

Last August, Leah broke down over her daughter's battle with the disease on the reunion special, explaining how her daughter "continues to get weaker" and will "probably" need home care one day.

         .

"The hardest part is her physically deteriorating and knowing these things are happening to her," Messer explained.

"You don't know what to expect or when to expect what's going to happen, but you know something is going to happen.".

Leah's breakdown spurred a reaction from a specialist who has never treated the Teen Mom 2 child before. Jill Frauenheim, MS, CGC, a Genetic Counselor at Ann & Robert H.

Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, reached out to Radar Online and explained how Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy with a Titin Gene Mutation often causes "weakness of muscles.".

"The weakness starts in areas closest to the shoulders, upper arms, hips and thighs," Frauenheim told Radar Online.

"Those that have muscular weakness, even the severity of that can vary.

Some kids with this, they learn to walk and remain walking over the age of 20.

Others are more severe and start needing additional help between 10 and 20.".

Frauenheim also explained that while respiratory issues occur because of weakness of diaphragm muscles, which Ali suffered from throughout the season, patients could have heart issues as well.

"Heart problems and muscle weakness are the two major symptoms," she explained.

     .

Although Leah initially feared that Ali's MD issues came from her being "squished in the womb," Frauenheim said that it was unlikely that she developed issues from being a twin, or from any sort of trauma that Leah might have endured during pregnancy.

"With genetic conditions, alcohol, drug, injury, restriction of movement, that does not affect the baby," she explained.

"It's in no way to her being a twin and squished.".

For fans who have been following Ali's story, in April of 2018, Leah shared a devastating post on Twitter after having to answer a heartbreaking question from her daughter.

"As I'm doing Ali girls makeup she looks at me and says.

"Mom, what's it like to see with two eyes?" Messer shared on Twitter about her 8-year-old daughter. "Everyday I wish I could take her place but I know there's a greater purpose!" She added: "Just broke my heart.".

Ali has struggled for most of her life with health issues.

On top of having allergies and asthma, which constricts her airway and makes it harder for her to breathe, Ali has had quite a few falls at school, has concerned teachers about leaving Ali without supervision.

"She had mentioned to us that she hadn't been eating at school and that she was falling a lot," Leah said during a 2017 episode.

"She needs somebody with her, by her side, at all times.".

"I'm fighting for Ali — I'm going to do everything that she needs done," she continued.

"We wanted her to be independent, and at the same time things are becoming progressive.".

Despite the issues that Ali will face throughout her life, Frauenheim says that life expectancy with the condition depends on the severity, and that some MD patients live well into their 50s and 60s.

"We've seen people live into their 50s or 60s, with others into their 20s," Frauenheim explained.

"It comes down to how severe or mild that person is presenting.".

Tune in on Mondays at 9/8c on MTV to continue following Ali and Leah's story on Teen Mom 2.

Catch a brand new episode tonight at 8 p.m., with four previous episodes preceding the newest, for fans that need to catch up.

Going Deep at the NAMM Show - Duration: 2:38.

Are you still scratching the surface, or are you going deep, in your learning and your life?

This week we're Off Balance On Purpose at the NAMM show!

After events this week in Denver and Vegas, I'm here in Anaheim with my son, Eddie,

attending the world's largest event for everything about the music industry –

Manufacturers, Instruments, engineering, staging, live performance ... whatever!

Grammy award winning producers, inventors, new and legendary artists, all here to share

what they know and learn what's coming next.

Eddie is a dedicated musician and this is his chosen profession, while

I'm just a passionate amateur. And yet for both of us, this is a little overwhelming.

Which leads me to my thought this week for YOU.

Regardless of your profession, your passion, or your ambition in life, something like this

exists for you. An event, a place, a community, that provides an opportunity

for you to show up, dive in, drink from a firehouse of knowledge and experience

and go DEEP in your learning.

Most people merely scratch the surface in what they know. They learn enough

to be competent or, perhaps, to stand out from the rest.

But at some point they shift from "learner" to "learned," which slows or stops

their appetite for greater knowledge. Now what this means is that they

will remain relevant only as long as the knowledge and the skills that

they have still apply to the extent that it did when they learned it.

And in this rapidly changing world, that is not a good bet.

Others lean in to their passions and say BRING IT ON! I want more!

When a question arises that challenges what they know, they open up and

ask "Why?" They hang with the questions, rather than defending the answers.

And these people, in the company of one another, share unstoppable curiosity,

find breakthrough, and continuously deepen a life long passion

for their profession and lives!

Don't stop at the first answer, or the satisfaction of competence,

let your passion trigger an ever expanding desire to learn.

And then find the place and the people who will challenge and, yes, overwhelm you

as they remind you why you love what you love and how to live it more fully.

Until next week, make your music, lean into the learning, and stay Off Balance On Purpose.

How To Take Personal Responsibility For Life & Business, Mindset Shift Time! - Duration: 7:51.

hi, there my name is Karen Hewitt and Welcome to it's your time to blossom.

I am so excited its Feb 2019 We have done a rebrand a refocus and guess what there will

be videos every Monday Wednesday and Friday.

Maybe more lol.

Make sure you subscribe and hit that notification bell

SO what are we going to talk about today, I'm going to talk to you about personal responsibility

and its a tough one.

And I'm going to give you some pretty cold truths here and I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings,

I don't mean to, I don't want to.

But I have to lay it down for you.

Personal Responsibility, if you are not in a position that you want to be in I need you

to genuinely look at what the situation you are in and how you got there, and what you

have done to get out of it.

There are some things you have no control over, you really don't, I didn't have any

control over being with an abuser for many years but when I decided to make a change,

that's when everything changed.

That's when I took the personal responsibility to move out of that situation.

Now I'm not going to even say its anywhere close to that.

But let's talk about business and in life and health.

How can you use personal responsibility and your mindset to make the difference?

First of all, its so easy to come up with everything else to why things aren't going

to plan if you're in business well my market is saturated, or there are too many people

in my local area and I can't do it.

Or they are out of my favorite product.

shippings behind, maybe it's your health, but I had to go to AUnt Pats Birthday and

she had cake and if Id said no to cake.

We come up with all these excuses, excuses are part of a system built into our brain

to protect us.

Our bodies actually are wired to prevent us from feeling pain.

Whether that be physical or emotional.

Like have you ever noticed when you are in a dangerous situation and your adrenaline

starts running and you're like OMGOSH I've got to get out of this.

That is your body's response to potential pain, they see fire its like you put your

hand near a flame you start to feel the flame before it causes any actual pain. and that

is your bodies response to omgosh we are in a situation where we need to protect, we need

to get the %^%^ away from this scenario, If you didn't know Imay cuss a little.

I'm sorry #notsorry

OUr brain does the same thing.

Our brain gives us a ton of excuses to lessen the pain, so I'm going to talk about business

when you don't have a successful month, you will list a whole bunch of reasons why you

didn't and it will be hostesses didn't show up, my invoices didn't get paid, I couldn't

compete with the snow last month.

My company was behind on shipping, deliveries were delayed.

The sale wasn't so good.

Well everybody knows that Jan is a bad month.

Have you ever thought, and just drop in the comments any of the excuses you have heard

or come up with.

Let's see how we can combat them and make them go away because excuses are crap.

Putting it out there, excuses are crap.

They are put in place to save you from pain.

so if you are there and working your business.

and it's like I didn't do so well last month, you get that little, that little stress.

What did Ido wrong?

why did Ido that, why did I do this?

Why did I???? and you start to feel emotional pain, you feel guilty, you feel distraction,

you feel all these things, so excuses are your brain's way of giving you something other

than yourself to blame.

But here's the thing, you keep allowing your brain to do that, it is protecting you!

Its whole thing is to protect you.

Its whole goal is to make you feel good and calm and supported, and safe, but guess what?

Calm, supported and safe is good, but it doesn't get you from place A to place B, you have

to do something to move and transition

SO what you have to do is acknowledge, ok it's a J month, so what could I have done

to make it different.

Ok so my company ran out of x product, I should have focused on Y product instead, you have

to come up with reasons to defeat the excuses.

you have to take personal responsibility so I want you all to in your head, in the comments,

it doesn't matter I just want to know how are you going to take personal responsibility

in Feb for the success of your business.

Ok I have to do a weight example

I'm losing weight, it is a journey, that I am on.

I have currently lost 16lbs since Jan2nd, I am so excited.

But I had a donut this morning, it tasted amazing and it completely blew out my sugar

and everything allowance for the day.

I have to take personal responsibility for that, so tomorrow when I'm not feeling so

good because of it, I know it was my decision to eat that.

I knew the consequences, I knew what was going to happen so I am going to be extra good and

work on it.

I take that treat I had and be happy I had that treat, So I've talked about personal

Responsibility I've talked about excuses, this is what I want you to do, every single

freaking excuse that you have given yourself in the last 30 days, write it down, if it

gets to be more than a page, stop!

I don't want you overwhelmed, if it's too many, you will shut down and we are busting

these excuses not keeping them going.

I want to list all your excuses and then I want you to come up with 2 solutions for each

excuse

My company sold out of x product, I could have focused on Y prodyct I could have researched

and found an alternative, Icould have taken preorders for when they are back in stock.

I could have decided to focus on a different line in my company, Icould have focused on

sponsoring.

You see how you have all these different things; But because you were so situated and so focused

on that excuse it stayed there.

We dont want you staying there, we want you moving forward.

That is your homework!

To take personal responsibity and tounderstand why these excuses pop in your head and what

they are there for.

Once you understand why and what they are doing you can beat them

I hope you found value, Iwant you to be part of the Blossom to SUccess family, so please,

hit that subscribe button and that notification bell, so you can get notifications every time

I upload, Ican not wait to talk to you again, have an amazing week my loves

Ta-Rah for now!
