What's up youtube and welcome back to my channel.
As you guys know, if you've been watching my other videos, I am in the middle of a 12
week cut.
If you missed those videos, feel free to go back and watch them now.
So, since I'm in a cut, I decided I would do a grocery haul for you guys and show you
all the things that I got to be ready for this cutting phase.
So I have pretty much everything laid out.
Um, a few of these things I already had, but I decided to show them to you guys because
I feel like they are essentials for my cutting diet.
So, without further ado, let's get into the grocery haul.
So, starting with vegetables, the grocery store that I go to was having a sale on a
few items so, I picked those up.
That's usually how I go about picking my produce.
I have a few favorites, um but other than that I usually stick to what's on sale because
most things I tend to like.
Except asparagus---I hate it.
So, what I got this week was these sliced up mushrooms and then I also got some peeled
baby carrots.
And both of these things I'm going to be using with um, some salads.
So the salad that I got was this um, it's just a spring mix.
And this one happens to be organic, but that's just because the organic was on sale and as
you guys know, I'm a student, I'm on a budget so I can't always afford to buy the organic,
but I try to when I can and this week it happened to be cheaper than the regular so definitely
went for that.
Um, a pro tip about buying lettuce...buy the ones in these plastic containers over the
ones in the bag.
These tend to last a lot longer and you get more um, lettuce for your money.
Also, once I open this I put in just a plain paper towel in with the lettuce when I close
it and that helps to suck up some of the moisture and uh, help the lettuce to last longer.
Because I know a lot of people have trouble finishing these things before they go bad
and that will really help to prolong the life of the lettuce and get the most for your money.
So, definitely recommend that.
Then to cook in my dinners, I just got this bag of onions.
It was on sale.
Onions are pretty neutral so you can mix them in pretty much whatever you want, so I'd recommend
these if you like onions.
I also got just a bell pepper.
Um, it's really good in salads raw or also cooked if you looking for some extra veggies.
Then, I also got this um, tuscan vegetable frozen medley.
Um, I know a lot of people have reservations about bryin-buying frozen vegetables just
because they think they aren't as good or as healthy for you and I really don't think
that's the case.
A lot of times uh, frozen veggies are frozen at their peak freshness.
So, sometimes buying frozen can actually be better and for me these are just super convenient
and take way less time to prepare than raw veggies.
So, I'm a student with a busy life, these are great for me.
Now this one is in a little bit of a sauce um, so that does add calories but honestly
the um, it's minimal.
So for an entire serving of this there are 3 grams of fat, 9 grams of carbs and 2 grams
of protein which is a little bit higher fat content but pretty typical for veggies.
So, definitely a good option.
So, that is it for veggies that I got this week.
So, now on to some more dairy, protein type stuff.
So I got some almond milk and I got the almond breeze but I also buy the silk--whatever happens
to be on sale it doesn't really matter to me.
The only thing I care about when I buy my almond milk is that I get the unsweetened
version um, because if you don't a lot of times there's so added flavoring and it really
jacks up the sugar and carb content.
So, what I like to use almond milk for is basically a mixer with my protein powder because
I don't like protein powder with just plain water and almond milk is a lot lower in fat
and even protein than regular milk so it's you know, as close to water as you can be
um, for a mixer so for this unsweetened original almond milk there are 30 calories, 2.5 grams
of fat, only 1 gram of carbs and 1 gram of protein.
So pretty neutral and it's a good option for mixing with protein.
Um, that being said, I also do like regular milk.
I am lactose intolerant, so I buy lactaid milk.
Um, this is just milk that already has the enzyme in it um for people who are lactose
intolerant that can't digest milk it helps you to digest the milk for you.
But, it's regular milk it just the addition of the enzyme.
Obviously if you're not lactose intolerant there's no need for you to buy this.
Um, but I like fat free skim milk and that's just personal preference.
Okay so kind of along those lines, you guys know I love my cottage cheese and they actually
make a lactaid cottage cheese.
So this, like the milk, has the enzyme in it to help me digest and this one I believe
is 1% and that's like the type of cottage cheese that I prefer um, just has a lower
fat content and this is you know, one of my favs for breakfast so essential whether I'm
cutting or not, I will have cottage cheese.
So, continuing on, I got of course, for some protein sources I got eggs.
These are just regular eggs um, whatever was on sale.
But, regular eggs do have a little bit higher fat content, so I also got some eggs whites.
And as you can see here, this is just regular egg whites.
Um, these are good because you can add protein without adding the fat of regular eggs.
So, egg whites are definitely a must um, if you're cutting.
Another protein source that I picked up was this tofu and I'm going be honest with you
guys, I have never cooked tofu before.
So yeah, I will have to let you guys know how it turns out because I've never made tofu
before, but I have had tofu and I really like tofu and the one that I got was lite tofu.
Um, it just had a lower fat content than some of the other options so, since I am cutting,
I went for this one to try to maybe do some meatless meals.
So, we'll try that one out and see how it goes.
Next , I never, never, never buy these things, but they were on sale and I'm cutting so anything
I can do to make my life more convenient, I'm for it.
Especially if it's cheap so um, these are these perdue--Basically it's like pre-cooked
um, chicken breast and I got one in the original roasted flavor and then in grilled italian
style.
So these i'm thinking are just going to be great for lunch time or if I need a quick
dinner because the chicken is already made, ready to go, you can just measure it out and
eat it.
So, again, I necessarily wouldn't recommend buying them um, if they're not on sale.
But, they happened to be on sale at my grocery store so I'm excited to have them for this
week.
Now the last meat that I got was this ground turkey.
And ground turkey is a lot better as far as fat content than ground beef.
So, that's why since I'm cutting, I'm going to be using ground turkey this week and um,
I got the 93% lean, 7% fat.
So, again, good on the fat content and high in protein.
A good lean meat to incorporate into your diet if you're looking for some leaner protein
sources.
Then, along with my cottage cheese you guys know, if i'm not having cottage cheese in
the morning, I'm probably having greek yogurt.
So, I got my fav greek yogurt which is the oikos um, triple zero.
This one is vanilla flavored.
I've tried to have plain greek yogurt and I just don't like it um, so I need to have
a flavor and this one, the triple zero has a lot lower fat and cholesterol so this is
kind of my go to and it tastes like the same as regular yogurt.
So for one cup of this which is actually a lot um it's 170 calories, 20 grams of carbs,
22 grams of protein and no fat.
So, this is really good bang for your calorie buck, I think.
And just to round out you know, my breakfast usuals, I got my nature valley protein granola.
If you guys have watched my what I eat in a day videos or just any of my other videos
you know that I love this stuff.
Um, again it's a great granola that has a little bit higher protein content and lower
sugar and lower fat.
So, definitely check this one out um, it tastes just as good as any other granola and has
a lot better nutrition content.
Rounding out the breakfast, I decided to try something new.
I picked up these um, better oats and they are 100 calories for 1 pack and that macros
on that are 2 grams of fat, 18 grams of carbs, and 3 grams of protein which is a lot better
than traditional oatmeal and the flavor I got was cinnamon roll and I just got this
to maybe have as breakfast, maybe have as a snack um, I've just seen a lot of other
people use it and I know it's popular, people like it, so I decided to try it out.
So, again I will keep you guys updated on what I think of this stuff.
The next thing I picked up was these um thin puffed cakes.
These are kind of like rice cakes except I looked at them and I think that macros are
a little bit better.
So, only 15 calories in 1 of these little cakes and a serving size is actually 3 of
them.
So in 3 it's only 45 calories, zero grams of fat, only 9 grams of carbs, and 1 gram
of protein.
So, I think these will be great if i'm looking for just a snack.
I'm gonna put some peanut butter or some hummus on them and I'm excited to try them.
Also, knowing that I"m going to be having a sweet tooth I'm sure as this cut goes on
and on, I picked up some uh sugar-free jello.
And I got, it's like pudding, and I went with the dark chocolate flavor because dark chocolate
has um, less fat and carbs than milk chocolate and this one was sugar-free so that helps
too obviously.
But, I'm just gonna plan on using this to kind of curb my sweet tooth like at night
or you know if I'm feeling pretty hungry.
So the macros for these are 60 calories, 1.5 fat, 11 grams of carbs, and 2 grams of protein.
So I think these will be a great option to curb my sweet tooth.
Um, this brown rice I already had, but I wanted to show it to you guys because so far it's
been a staple in my cutting diet.
This is just um short grain, brown rice and it's really good.
The downside is that you know, it's traditional rice so it takes 45 minutes to cook and I
don't have a rice cooker so I cook it you know, on my own.
But I have been cooking this like on the weekends um and then just keeping it in a container
in my fridge for the rest of the week and measuring it out you know, one cup at a time. But
this rice is just phenomenal.
I don't really know how to describe it but the texture of it is just really good.
Um, I ate it pretty much every day last week.
So definitely check this out.
It's worth the effort of preparing it ahead of time I promise.
Then the last kind of carbohydrate source that I picked up was these um english muffins
and these are the light 100 calorie ones and I got them in the multigrain flavor.
So, the macros on these are really good.
Honestly I was surprised.
Um, like I said, it's only 100 calories per muffin and that's only 25 grams of carbs,
5 grams of protein and only 1 fat.
So, I think these will be good because you know, I like my carbs and sometimes I'm just
looking for alternate sources but these won't break my carbohydrate macros for the day.
I was looking for the protein um, thomas english muffins but my grocery didn't have them, so
that's how I found these.
So, I've never had them before and I will have to give you guys an update on this one
too.
I have a lot of food to update you guys on so look forward to that in coming videos.
And then, the last stuff that I got is fruit.
And fruit....I love fruit and yes it has carbs, yes, you know if your'e cutting, you may want
to spend your carbs somewhere else, but I actually like fruit and I think that fruit
has a lot of good micronutrients that you know, are good for you body in order to make
sure that you're getting enough of those micronutrients when you're cutting.
So, I think it's important to incorporate fruit into you diet.
So kind of the way I do with vegetables, I usually just go with what's on sale and this
week I happened to pick up some strawberries.
Pretty basic, um, then I got some clementines.
And then, finally, some bananas.
I love bananas and if I you know, don't eat all of them before they start to go brown,
I will freeze them and then keep them later for smoothies.
So, that's a good way to um, preserve your bananas and not have to throw them out because
you couldn't eat them in time.
Then, the last thing I want to show you guys that I got was just some avocados.
So, these avocados are pretty small, but honestly that's good because I just using them to add
some fat sources um to meet my fat macros for the day and usually I need about 30 grams
so that ends up being about a quarter of one of these avocados.
So it's good um, avocados are pretty versatile, you can put them in whatever so I think it's
a good source of healthy fat so I'd definitely recommend them for a cut.
So that is everything that I got...Ohh.
I almost forgot.
There's one more thing, hold on.the last thing that I got at the grocery store for my cut
was halo top.
Um, I talked about halo top once before in one of my full day of eating videos, but they
are basically ice cream that is lower in fat and carbs and higher in protein.
And honestly this stuff is so good.
It tastes like real ice cream and again, I know it's going to cure my sweet tooth at
night during this cut.
So, the two flavors I got were sea salt caramel and this entire pint is only 280 calories
and then s'mores and the entire pint for that 320 calories.
So let's say one serving, which is a quarter of the pint for uh, the sea salt caramel has
only 2 grams of fat, 12 grams of carbs, and 6 grams of protein so usually when I eat this
eat about half so that would be 4 grams of fat, 12 grams of carbs, and 12 grams of protein
which is pretty dang good for ice cream.
So, um definitely recommend trying these if you guys haven't.
They are the bomb and yeah, I'm hoping they will save my sweet tooth during this cut.
So that is all I have for you guys in today's grocery haul.
If you guys have anything else that you like to buy when you're dieting, comment below,
