Oracle's second boat? You'll have to wait and see, grins Jimmy Spithill
Jimmy Spithill says Americas Cup followers will just have to wait and see if Oracle Team USA have a second boat for their match with Team New Zealand.
Jimmy Spithill says Americas Cup followers will just have to wait and see if Oracle Team USA have a second boat for their match with Team New Zealand.
Spithill played up the mystery boat at the last press conference ahead of Sundays opening races on Bermudas Great Sound.
He suggested his team had got one over their rivals and the media when Oracle crew were photographed by Team New Zealand shifting bows from their base to neighbours Team Japan on Friday.

The feeling is Oracle are going to use the Japanese boat as their backup, needing only to attach their American-made bows to pass the measurement test.
I dont know what you are talking about, Spithill said, trying his best to hold a straight face, when asked about the shiny red Oracle bows being on the move next door.
I think it just shows you guys will fall for anything. Never ceases to amaze me.
Last time it was a stability augmentation system called Herbie. This time it was no coincidence that we saw the Kiwis spy boat out there. I just cant believe you guys fell for it again..
Oracle are allowed two boats under Cup rules but had to declare any new boat last month and it could not be used until after the round-robin Cup racing in Bermuda.
That left Oracle little time to test against such a boat and they instead cleverly engineered a long-term deal with Dean Barkers Japanese outfit that gave them sustained development.
Its impossible to imagine Oracle not having a backup boat for the Cup match in case of damage. The Kiwis, meanwhile, are only allowed their one boat, leaving them vulnerable.
Spithill said he was satisfied with Oracles own boat in terms of taking it into the Cup match when he was pushed about having a second boat. You are just going to have to wait and see, Spithill grinned.
Listen, we have got our race boat, its a very, very competitive boat. The guys have done a lot of work, a lot of upgrading on it and we feel we will be competitive..
Asked again, Spithill said: Were hoping not to need it (a second boat). We are expecting aggressive tight, tight racing.
I think the level of the two teams. theres a reason both teams are here at this point, its interesting the top two teams from the qualifying series actually got through to the Americas Cup.
It will be close, the teams are at a very very high level. We will push it hard but for either of us, pushing too hard over the line has big consequences..
