Salvation is not a contractual guarantee based on your confession of your faith

in Jesus Christ. You are not entitled to certain benefits and expectations

because you trust in Jesus Christ. To trust in Jesus Christ cannot save you if

you do not follow and obey Him. These things that I just mentioned are some of

the lies that are being preached by Bible teachers. They say that if you

trust in Jesus you have salvation and you will enter into heaven. That is a lie.

You are not entitled to certain benefits based on Bible Scripture just because

you believe in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ said that whoever wishes to come after

Him must deny himself pick up his cross and follow Him every day. The condition

for salvation is to follow and obey Jesus Christ until the very end. There is

no guarantee of salvation. Many of these are false teachers are

celebrating a salvation that they promised to other people, based on Bible

scriptures. They believe these lies but they have no relationship with Jesus

Christ. You cannot base your salvation or Bible verses. Your salvation is based on

your relationship with Jesus Christ. It is not based on words that are written

on paper. It is based on your fellowship with Jesus Christ, whether you have the

Spirit of Christ and whether you follow and obey Him, whether He knows you and

you know Him and you do what is pleasing to Him.

We have no entitlements, no rights, no expectations,

other than the hope of eternal life, IF we continue to follow and obey Jesus

Christ until the very end.We have to obey His words as they are also recorded

in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) repent and be baptized in water, be filled with the Holy Spirit and

follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Oey Jesus Christ, seek Him, seek his

kingdom, live for Him and live for His kingdom. Live according to His words and

He will reveal Himself to you. He will teach you and He will guide you, but at

no stage are we entitled to any benefits. We are living in the hope of salvation,

we have the hope of final salvation as long as we stay with Jesus Christ and

obey Him until the very end. Jesus will never leave us and neither will He

forsake us but we have to stay with him we have to follow and obey Him and do

what He commands or else we will not enter His kingdom.

Jesus said:"Why do you call Me Lord, Lord and you do not what I say?"

Many trust in Jesus for salvation but they do not know Him, neither do they

want to know Him. They do not obey Him, they do not follow Him, they have nothing

to do with Him, but they claim salvation. They believe they have security of

salvation based on some Bible verses. They are foolish because Jesus will say

to them:"Go away I never knew you, you workers of unrighteousness." Do you know

Jesus? Do you follow and obey Him? Do not be

deceived, if we do not obey and follow Jesus

Christ and know him for real, we will certainly not enter His kingdom.

What If There Are No Jobs For My PhD Background? - Duration: 3:40.

and welcome to another episode of Ask Cheeky.

I'm Isaiah Hankel with Cheeky Scientist.

And today's question comes from Eric Tyler.

"I have a background in computational chemical engineering."

It's a mouthful.

"And I can't find any jobs for my background.

"What do you suggest I do?"

This is one of the most common questions that we get.

A PhD approaches us and says,

"My background is this specific narrow niche

"that nobody has ever heard of before

"or that, you know,

"that has been defined by academia

"but nobody else in the world.

"But I can't find any other jobs

"asking for someone with my background.

"I can't get a job.

"There are no jobs.

"Help me, what do I do?"

Right?

Maybe you've felt this way.

Maybe you've learned from academia

to really value the definition of your background

and how carefully you can define it, right,

I'm a nanotechnology, life science,

agricultural, whatever it might be.

When instead, you know,

instead of thinking about it in terms of specificity

and instead of trying to find jobs for that specific title,

you need to, instead, zoom out a little bit.

Right?

Zoom out to really four key areas.

Am I a life scientist?

Am I a physical scientist?

Chemist, physicist, right,

all those are under physical sciences.

Am I an engineer?

Okay?

You could also add, am I a social scientist?

Right, these are all considered STEM positions,

S-T-E-M, which the acronym actually means

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math,

but, according to the National Science Foundation,

includes any field that uses the scientific method.

So again, social scientists, engineers,

physical scientists, life scientists.

So, start thinking in terms of these broad categories.

Also, you can switch categories.

We see people all the time,

PhDs in our program all the time, that are chemists,

they're getting life sciences positions.

People that are biologists that get into

chemistry positions.

Your background matters very little.

What matters is that you have a PhD,

that you have a, you know,

PhD is a Doctor of Philosophy.

It's a doctor of learning and knowing how to learn.

Of knowledge, and knowing how to ascertain knowledge.

And in terms of your technical skills,

your ability to apply the scientific method,

companies know you're gonna have that.

So they're not gonna care about

your very small field or your very small specialty.

So zoom out and look for positions across the board.

Really, just try to find a position that you want

that'd be a good fit for you,

no matter what background they're asking for,

what background you think they want.

This is important.

Again, more PhDs get held back

by looking for jobs that have to do

with their specific background

than anything else.

Your background, in this sense, does not matter.

It really does not.

Just the fact that you have a PhD.

That's the box that's already checked.

You have a PhD, it's a STEM PhD.

You've used the scientific method.

You had the technical skills.

Again, that box is checked.

So don't obsess over what your background is in.

Zoom out.

Consider yourself more of just a life scientist,

a physical scientist,

social scientist, an engineer,

these broad categories.

You know, maybe a mathematician, economist,

these kind of things.

But really, those fall under social sciences as well.

So just zoom out.

Stop focusing on your field and look ahead.

And start focusing on

the industry, the sectors that you wanna get into.

Entertain many job titles.

And, again, do not obsess over your background.

So this will take us to the end of this episode.

Before you begin.

A resume is a document used by employers to gauge whether or not they find you hirable.

It consists of your work, educational, volunteer, and extracurricular experiences.

It is important to remember that an effective resume can help you obtain an interview, but

it does not guarantee you a job.

Sometimes a resume is your only chance to make a first-impression.

For this reason, we want to ensure it is free of grammatical errors by editing it.

The resume should be as clear and concise as possible with a specific tailoring of the

document to the position of interest.

Avoid using full sentences; short bullets starting with action verbs are preferred throughout.

The average employer spends, on average, about 6-10 seconds looking at a resume before deciding

whether or not to call a candidate for an interview.

It is essential to present yourself in the most positive and honest manner possible.

Do not draw attention to any weaknesses.

Two of the most common errors in resume writing is the inclusion of high school accomplishments

and the use of personal pronouns, e.g. "I, my, me."

Additionally, all experience on a resume should be put in reverse-chronological order.

This means most recent, to least recent.

Be consistent with format including equal margins and space between items and categories.

Additionally, consider bolding, capitalizing, or italicizing headings or titles to ensure

they stand out to an employer.

Moreover, be mindful of font type and size.

Use legible fonts with a size of 10-12 point.

Be careful with color, especially design students.

Make sure the resume prints well in both color and black and white.

Although a one-page resume is preferred, it truly depends on the individual.

For example, a non-traditional student, graduate student, or student with military experience

will have more experience than a first-year student fresh out of high school.

When printing a resume, print on 8.5 x 11 resume paper, e.g. white, bone, or light gray paper.

When completing a resume and printing it off, check for print quality and bleed.

Additionally, before printing, have it reviewed by at least three other individuals and a

career services staff member to ensure that it is free of grammatical errors.

When sending a resume to an employer, save it as a .pdf file to ensure that the document

is not altered upon submission.

Getting started.

To begin, construct a draft consisting of all past experiences including work, education,

extracurricular activities, and volunteer.

Consider the job and the job description as well.

As you progress throughout the resume building process, you want to consider the positions

you are interested in or are applying for when editing your draft.

Tailor the resume to the positions of interest.

This can be done by creating a relevant experience section that places increased emphasis on

job function and responsibilities.

Additionally, it might be necessary to increase the conciseness of the resume by considering

what the employer might be interested in.
