Draw tip Tuesday: watercolors- Flat wash - Duration: 4:38.

Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday Here's your weekly dose of inspiration to

build a creative habit!

One drawing at a time Brought to you by Sketchbook Skool

Today, let's practice watercolours.

We'll use big brushes, watercolours and paint.

A paper towel comes in handy as well.

I am not an expert at all.

In fact - watercolours are quite a mystery to me.

I love splashing color on my sketchbook pages even though I don't know what I'm doing

half of the time.

Let's start trying what's called a flat wash.

Wet your brush and pick up some pigment.

For a flat wash, you want the paint to spread evenly.

You need like 50-50% of water and pigment.

You sort of push the puddle of color downwards.

And if you're left with a drop like this, you can pick it up carefully with a dry brush.

Let's try that again - we're practicing here!

You can also create a smooth transition.

Pick up paint, then rinse the brush and kind of pull the paint downwards while it dissolves

into the water you're adding.

You can keep doing this until there's no color left.

I may have used too much water so I'll just carefully push it around a little and pick

it up with a dry brush.

Now let's blend some color.

Make kind of a flat wash first, and clean the brush completely.

Pick up another color and add it where you left off, and then pull it downwards.

Maybe I should do that again.

I need a lot more practice than just this one piece of paper!

There's some blooming happening over here, I think that's because the paint was too

wet, or because I pushed it around too much, I don't know.

I haven't figured out just yet how to make it look really neat and flat, rather than

with stains and the blooming effect.

Then again, the paint does what it does - and that's part of the fun as well - you can't

control it completely.

Now how can we make use of these flat washes and blends, and practice them some more without

ending up with just boring squares?

Trying to create an even color, draw circles.

Now try doing a blend of two colours again.

When the paint has dried, add a line drawing on top of it.

I'm drawing apples - and suddenly when adding these lines, I don't care about the paint

not being perfectly even, I actually like the texture of the blooming effect a lot!

And these blobs become pears now.

Try doing a whole page, that'll give you the opportunity to practice the technique,

as well as ending up with a fun, colourful page.

Now let's do the blending once more, using different colors.

I may have pushed these colors around a bit too much.

So I'll give it another go and will let the colors blend and bleed into each other

without interference.

Well okay, I will just pick up that pool of paint so the wash can dry evenly.

I hope this inspired you to try out your watercolours and play.

Did you experiment with your watercolours last week?

Let's do some more and explore the wet-in-wet technique.

We'll start with using clear water and paint a shape with it.

I'll do three in a row here.

Now, while the water is still wet, pick up pigment and add it to the water wash.

The paint blooms out, and you can direct it a little bit, or dry your brush to pick up

pooling parts.

Because of the water and the pigment touching, you'll get a blooming effect.

just let it happen!

Let's do a few more - you'll also notice the difference between adding paint to the

water that has already settled into the paper a little, and the water that is freshly added

and forms a bit of a pool.

All I can say is: experiment and explore - that's what I'm doing here, too.

Now that the these pink blobs have dried, let's make them into something more fun,

by using a pen.

I will draw leaves as well, to add some interesting shapes to these pink radishes.

Now on top of the pen lines, I'll add some juicy watercolours, just quick strokes, colouring

outside the lines is allowed.

And for another wet-in-wet technique: I'll drop in some bright yellow to give the green

more variety and life.

I hope this inspires you to try your watercolours and practice a lot.

Yamada Tamaru - Always in My Heart Instrumental [Fish Mix] - Duration: 3:03.

[Unofficial Lyric Transcription by Fish and Rila]

The way it felt,

your breath in the wind.

And the way I should go

on my life.

I swear to go

wherever we'll be.

Cause there'll be something

to see and to find.

I don't know the meaning of life,

but I know what's truly precious.

The life- it's not for comparing things,

so I hold both the light and shadow.

The rings of stars

will bring me to you.

Through the dark night skies [?]

see the way to be shined.

I don't know whats right for our lives,

but I know the truth of my love.

The way it feels

our breaths in the wind,

and the way I should go

on my life.

I swear to go

wherever we'll be.

Those memories I wouldn't have

will always in my heart.

Those memories I wouldn't have

will always

in my heart.

[Thanks for watching.]

Moonstruck - O Suave Fanciulla (O Loveliest of Maidens) - Duration: 4:05.

Oh Loveliest of Maidens

Oh Sweetest Vision

Bathed in the soft glow of a Moonbeam

In you

I see a Dream come to

Life

Ah! You Alone Command Us

Oh Love!

A Dream

I pray always to Dream!

In the Depth of My Soul

I Tremble

with the Height of Passion

Your Kisses Thrill

Love itself!

Oh! How sweetly does -

Be mine!

- his flattery fall upon My Heart

You alone command me, Beloved!

No, I beg you!

Might I go along with you?

What? Mimi?!

It would be so much sweeter to stay here.

It's Freezing outside.

I shall stay close to you!

And when we return?

You'd like to know!

Let me take your arm, My Dear little one.

I shall oblige, kind sir!

Tell me you Love me!

I Love You!

My Love!

My Love

My Love ! My Love !
