who do, who do you think that He is? Who is He in your heart? You know, it makes a

difference how we answer that question. For some people, Jesus is just their

non-judgmental superfriend. For others, Jesus is the scary judge who is

going to come at the end of time. For others, He's an interesting historical

figure, someone who's a great moral teacher. There's a really famous song,

right now, very popular tune out of Guatemala. "Jesús es verbo, no sustantivo"

which means: "Jesus is a verb, not a noun."

Now, it's tempting to oversimplify. Obviously to follow Jesus is to love Him

and to love others. There's no way to be a Christian without action. But the

song even goes further than that... that, that we don't need the Bible, that we don't

need to pray and we don't need these other things, these other trappings of

religion. It sounds quite Gnostic actually that Jesus is something

amorphous inside of you and inside of everybody. But there can't be a Jesus

without a Bible. There can't be a Jesus without His actual words, His actual deeds.

So I want to, want to challenge you with this week is to A) get a Bible, if you

don't have a Bible, whether it be to buy a paper Bible, an RSV or an NAD.

Or to just download an app on your phone. Have it at the ready. The Gospel of Mark

wouldn't take more than a few hours to read. You can get it done before your

next meal if you really wanted to. But for now just

start reading. Find out what Jesus really did, what He really said, and then come

back to the question: "who do you say that I am?

was correcting my head but we never talked about that cuz that turned out

to stay cuz that's what happened but no but for real though like my mother when

I was a kid my mother was the scariest coolest person like in the world because

she really didn't take any crap but now in this she's not take any crap off of

us she didn't take any crap off other people either like my mother was

seriously I grew up inner-city Chicago and you couldn't be interested in

Chicago I don't care if you was the mama today the kid or whatever it is and not

stand your ground and my mother stood a lot of ground and I didn't see some

things that we're not gonna talk about but I'm just saying but my mother would

literally and figuratively fight for me and I know that firsthand from

experience I'm just saying that's what I know now as an adult my mother is the

biggest freaking cheerleader that I have everything I do she's like oh I like

that oh that's fabulous oh you're so

wonderful someday she'd get on my damn nerves I know like if someday she's like

oh that ain't cute oh I didn't like that and you are not fat he was two days he

missed that you're sagging or something and I'm like but I'm fabulous every day

and I don't understand your disposition right now and I'm not liking what you

having to say and she like I'm the mama I can say what I want to and I'm like

okay well I gotta go you break it up

I can't heat them all but seriously so I want to know from you guys who's been in

your corner who is your biggest cheerleader like my kids are in my

corner but ain't nobody in my corner like my mama like my mama is in my

corner under little roads like for real like my

mama do not mess around she no matter what nonsense or shenanigans I come up

with my mother is like they like for real life thing so I'm just curious who

is the person that has been consistent in your life is that your mama is it
