Getting Started with Autodesk A360 using FME - Duration: 6:17.

In this video we will cover how to interact with Autodesk A360 using FME.

FME allows users to upload, download or list features in Autodesk A360.

You can integrate with Autodesk A360 with AutodeskA360Connector transformer, or Select

File from Web capabilities using a reader or FeatureReader.

We will look at the basics of how to upload to and download from A360 in this

video.

To work through this demo, an Autodesk A360 account is required.

Please sign up for free to get started or access your existing one.

In this case, I am going to create a new project for the FME demo.

I'll call it FME Project.

Once I have created my project, I'll head over to FME Workbench where I can get started

uploading.

I'll go to Main, a blank workspace and I'll start by adding a PATH reader.

The PATH reader will read in the paths to the files we would like to upload to Autodesk

A360.

For dataset, I'll click the ellipsis, three dots, to go to my Downloads and select my

Road data folder.

I'll hit ok and the PATH reader will be added to my workspace.

To the PATH reader I'll connect the Autodesk A360 connector transformer.

I'll open up the parameters and I'll check that Autodesk A360 Action is set to Upload.

You can see that it is also possible to Download or List.

And for Autodesk A360 Account, I'll select Add Web Connection.

I'll set my connection name and then I'll hit authenticate.

This will bring up the dialogue for me to connect to my Autodesk A360 account.

I'll have to enter my log in credentials and then allow FME to connect to the Autodesk

A360 account.

Once that is finished, I'll ensure that Source Upload is set to File.

And then for File to Upload, I'll select the down arrow, Attribute Value, and choose path_windows.

For Folder ID, I'll click the three dot button, the ellipsis, and this will open up a picker

where I can select my Autodesk A360 account, and then the FME Project and hit ok.

Everything else looks good so I'll hit ok.

I'll add Loggers to my AutodeskA360Connector and then I'll run my workspace.

Success!

Both files were written to my Autodesk A360 project.

I'll head over there to take a look, refresh it, we'll see that the two files are now in

my FME Project.

I can also inspect them.

So if I go back to my Workbench, I'm going to open up the FME Data Inspector.

I'll go to File, Open Dataset.

From here I'll set the Format to Autodesk Autocad DWG/DWF.

And for the dataset, I'll select the down arrow, Select File From Web, and then Browse

Autodesk A360.

Here, I'll select my Autodesk A360 Connection and then it will load the files that I just

uploaded.

So I will go into my FME Project and select both CompleteRoads as well as TrafficSignals

and hit OK.

I'll hit OK again, and then the datasets will be loaded into the FME Data Inspector.

Once loaded into the FME Data Inspector, I can take a look at the information associated

with the features as well as the geometry.

Finally, we will look at how to download files stored in Autodesk A360.

Potentially you have to copy from A360 to a local shared network drive.

So now we will look at how to do this.

So I'll go back to my Workbench, and I'll close this workspace.

I'll start up a new blank one.

I'll start by adding a Creator transformer, this will create a prompt for the AutodeskA360Connector.

I'll connect an AutodeskA360Connector to it and open up its parameters.

This time, I'm going to change the Autodesk A360 Action from Upload to Download.

For Autodesk A360 Account, I'll choose my previously created connection.

Next to Object ID, I'll click the three dot button, ellipsis, to navigate to the file

I'd like to download.

I'll go into FME Project and select the TrafficSignals.dwg file and hit OK.

For destination, I'll set Download as to File, and for Download to Folder, I'm going to set

it to the desired location I'd like to donwload my dataset to.

In this case, I'll put it in my Downloads.

I'll hit OK, and then OK again.

I'm going to add Loggers again to the AutodeskA360Connector transformer to log what happens when I run

the workspace.

I'll run my workspace and I can see that one file was successfully downloaded.

I can locate it by navigating to the folder I downloaded it into.

And here we can see the TrafficSignals.dwg.
