SGA Cameron Luster VP Speech - Duration: 3:25.
Innovators, dream chasers, achievers.
We are VCU.
Connect, achieve, motivate the student body is what I'll do for you.
My name is Cameron Luster and I want to be your Monroe park vice president.
I am a sophomore studying International Studies with a minor in Economics.
I currently have a 3.5 GPA.
I am very involved on and off campus.
I am a part of SGA.
A member VCU LEAD and the VCU LEAD advisory board.
In addition I have contributed over 150 volunteer hours at non-profits, Carver elementary, and
the national and state elections.
As a leader I'm an innovator and a catalyst for change, and I've demonstrated this through
participation with the division of student affairs project all in.
As Kendrick Lamar said "just because you wear a different color than me doesn't mean I can't
respect you."
All In is an initiative to foster respect, inclusion and stability in our community.
As Vice president my first action would be to inform the student body about tuition and financial aid.
Not enough people know what tuition covers, and not enough people understand why tuition
is increasing.
I also want to keep the student body informed about changes in financial aid.
Secondly, I want to inform the student body about the academic open textbook policy.
The policy allows free access to online textbooks for students.
I want to talk to the provosts about informing and implementing this policy.
Lastly I want to expand SGAs brand recognition.
For how important of an organization we are on campus not enough people know who we are
or what we do.
So I think the student body would respond positively to a video series that makes SGA
more personable and also provides helpful information about collegiate life.
Also for SGA I want to build off the calendar that we have already.
I want to have major events planned during the summer before the academic year starts.
That way we can run smoother and we can get stuff done in a more timely manor.
In addition I would require every committee to have a major event each semester.
Alright.
So lets inform our students about tuition and financial aid, lets provide affordable
textbook option, and lets grow SGA as a resource to all.
VCU lets go all in.

Basic tips for grabbing GREAT AUDIO! | #7Steps - Duration: 1:52.
- Alright Justin, you've got this, man.
They've loved your videos.
You're funny, engaging, ruggedly handsome,
you can do this.
Come on.
(loud exhale)
Audio can make or break your video,
so making sure you follow a few key steps
is crucial to ensuring
that your subject doesn't come off sounding silly.
Here are three great tips
to ensure that your audio is crisp and clear.
Number one, hide that wire.
When giving the transmitter to your presenter,
make sure that you have them run the wire under their shirt
and clip the mic to their collar
or between their first and second button.
You will also need to hide the receiver behind them,
and you can do this by either clipping it to a belt
or sliding it into one of their pockets.
Number two, test your audio.
Always listen and check your audio levels
before you start filming.
You can do this by plugging in a pair of headphones
into the green auxiliary jack on the side of your camera.
To adjust your levels, click the centre button
and turn the wheel to raise or lower the volume,
making sure that it never hits the red.
A safe place to be is around 50 to 75 percent.
Number three, rolling.
Always call rolling when you're about to start filming,
as it gives others around you the indicator
to keep it quiet.
And speaking of loud, distracting noises,
make sure that your presenter's mic
is not rubbed or brushed in any way,
(scratch)
as this'll create a scratching noise
that cannot be fixed, even in post.
Even the wind poses a threat to your audio quality,
so make sure that if you film outdoors
you find a sheltered location to film in.
And once you've stopped recording,
make sure you call cut,
cause that'll let everyone else know
that they can be loud and distracting once again.
And that's it.
As always, feel free to scroll down below
for a more in-depth breakdown of all of these tips.
Thanks for watching.

Writing the SAT Essay: Step By Step (tutorial) 2018 - Duration: 15:47.
Hi! I'm here today with my friend Victoria to go over step by step with
you just how to write that SAT essay if you haven't already watched my video
lesson on SAT essay structure I suggest you do that first and you can do that by
clicking a little link that should appear right about here in the screen
and then come back to this video because you're gonna need that background
information to really understand what she's doing here today Victoria is going
to take us step by step through the same process that you're going to want to use
if you want to write a proficient as they on the SAT
that's with any other part of the SAT you're going to want to go into the test
already familiar with the directions the directions don't change
you'll save precious time if you know upfront what's being expected of you the
SAT essay directions are always the same as you read the passage below consider
how the author uses evidence such as facts or examples to support his claims
reasoning to develop ideas and connect claims and evidence stylistic or
persuasive elements such as word choice or appeals to emotion to add power to
the ideas expressed mainly the thing is with the essay you want to know what the
directions are before you go in all the directions on all of the essays are this
down here as you read the passage below consider how the author uses evidence
facts and examples to support claims reasoning to develop ideas and connect
claims and evidence and stylistic or persuasive elements such as word choice
or appeals to emotion to add power to the ideas express that's the same
directions on every single prompt and
this is what the essay is going to look lit look like the one that you actually
have to write about it's always going to be two pages it's going to only have
just the author's name the name of the article maybe where it was published and
then at the end it's going to remind you to write an essay in which you explain
how whatever this author builds an argument for whatever you argued in the
paper be sure your analysis focuses on the
most relevant features of the passage your essay should not explain whether or
not you agree with whatever the article is about but rather explain how they
build an audience so knowing this going into it you know it's always going to
tell you to do the same so when you go you want to be able to be
ready with whatever techniques you're gonna write about so I created this
handout for my students and we just kind of thought about all these different
these are all different ways that the author can persuade you but a lot of
times specific ones of these like especially appealing to logic you can
always find that you can always find that so if you narrow narrow it down to
like four or five appeals that you're gonna just actively look for when you
read it rather than leaving it open to all these different appeals then it's
gonna make it much easier for you you're not gonna be nervous when you go in to
do it oh can you think of why an author liked talking about in this particular
article which is the one I'm gonna have you read if in here if he appealed to
ethics or credibility that you're familiar with ethos and pathos and logos
right okay so why would somebody want to use an appeal that talked about someone
else's credibility why would somebody want to do that well if the people think
they're credible then they'll be more likely to trust what they have to say
and believe their argument a lot of times they appeal you know different
ways but they appeal to emotion want to appeal to the emotions of the reader in
developing his thesis not your thesis but his thesis well if he appeals to
their emotions then he can like get them to feel certain ways to feel a certain
way about his thesis and try to make them convinced of it as well also maybe
an emotional connection wants to build an emotional connection okay so an
appeal to logic well you can connect different ideas to make them all flow
together and end up at his thesis so like if this happens and this happens
which leads to thesis okay so that's how he builds an argument is that what
you're saying yes now why would someone use an anecdote to try to persuade well
if he's already used ethos then they already trust him so by giving them a
short story from his life from a trustworthy person then they're more
likely to agree with what he has to say okay okay and then use of testimony and
in this case he does have a couple different experts it kind of falls under
the ethos thing too but more specifically rather than just saying you
know these people are credible he he gives them a chance to speak for
themselves so why would he want to do that why would he want to use actual
testimonials or quotes from people who have something to say about this a lot
of times the quotes are used from like people that he knows his audience
already trusts so he can help build his argument through what other people
already say and those statistics and data are logos why would he choose to
include facts and figures in his article because I need doesn't have to worry if
like they're he's going to use someone the audience won't accept but like the
audience is always going to accept raw data it's like proving now use of
imagery as a persuasive technique well it kind of helps overlaps with the
pathos and making them feel what he has to say and he gets to kind of manipulate
what they're thinking almost by like showing them different pieces okay so
instead of manipulate let's say he guides okay yeah okay um thinking
through emotion and you know imagery doesn't just have to be visual it can be
auditory it can be a lot of different things um use of figurative language why
would someone want to use and these are the three most common ones you would see
of course there's you know several other ones but why would an author use
figurative language as a persuasive technique well it's kind of another way
of just comparing two things so he can like comparing
contrast different things using the metaphors and similes and making it more
persuasive okay and it also it also kind of appeals to people on an emotional
level right intentional word choice is diction and the diction influences tone
so and there's another one well this one is gonna be very similar use of jargon
so why is it important for James Hamblin to choose his words carefully when he
writes this piece because if he doesn't use his words right he won't be able to
relate to his audience as well so he has to speak like his audience so they can
like hear and accept and understand what did he say the other thing is he wants
to establish an authoritative tone and there are certain word choices you can
use to do that so with that idea of an authoritative tone jargon this is
something that I think works for every everyone that I've ever seen this is
gonna work so specialized vocabulary so well if he's using words like that he
knows that the reader is going to be able to understand and the readers then
going to know that he knows what he's talking about yeah he knows what he's
talking about that's the thing that you want to really focus on a use of humor
quite often you'll find use of humor it's not huge and it's not probably the
best appeal but if somebody was going to use a humorous appeal how would that
affect the reader well he can make the reader know that he's not all like
completely serious but can keep the mood light hearted and okay okay don't you're
gonna need to have three of these ready to go when you go in to do the SAT essay
they give you it for 40 minutes or 45 minutes 50 minutes 50 minutes so in
there 50 minutes what you have to do is check over the prompt remember the
directions are always the same the directions are always the same the
prompt is specific to this but it's always going to be basically the same
prompt you're gonna want to understand who wrote it what it is and where it was
published and the dates important to so and then you have to read and analyze
the text organize your essay and write it in 50 minutes no problem right I want
to just show you this little checklist and I developed for kids the checklist
that we are looking at as we discuss planning the essay in the next few
minutes I am going to copy this and put this in the description below as well
that kind of walks you through how to write the essay and if you kind of
understand this before you before you take the essay but basically you're
looking for five paragraphs in your introductory paragraph you're gonna give
two or three sentences background about whatever this guy is writing about it
has nothing to do with your thesis yet just what's the information and then you
do want to make your claim and give the title of the text the author of the text
your claim and then mention what your support is going to be for your thesis
and this is your thesis your claim and the support and then you're just gonna
have three paragraphs that are pretty much the same you'll have some sort of
transition you're going to explain whatever this was here this is number
one so that goes right here number one you're gonna give the examples from the
text three little supports and then you are going to explain just what we went
through here why did that author use that support so sounds pretty easy right
so you do that for three paragraphs and then your conclusion paragraph you never
transition restate your thesis somehow and then there's some choices for what
to do you can either give some information that shows how this
information can be applied or question and are given
counterargument suggestions for ideas and so on and then leave a final
expression and we'll get into this more when we talk about how to write the
essay after you read it but I just want you to know going in that you always
want to be thinking about what are you what's gonna be your claim and then what
are the are the persuasive techniques that the person uses if you know that
going into it then the even the first time you read through it you're going to
be able to look for that information so there's a couple of things I want you to
do is you read through this but there's specific there's specific key words that
this author uses throughout this whole thing like we not just the jargon but
jargon whatever you call it jargon but it's it's words specific to this topic
that you're gonna want to use in your essay as well I'm gonna zoom in on you
but okay okay so this is the art of article that you're going to read to
prepare to write the essay so just remember that you're gonna circle the
the key words and then try to just make notes either within the text or on the
small column side man you might want to do it within the text there's not much
room there of the persuasive techniques that he's using you might also I'll just
throw this that because I forgot to tell you this you might also want to
underline his thesis when you come to it and his introduction has really broken
up into like two or three paragraphs so when you come to his thesis just
underline that but you're really focusing on the evidence he uses to
prove his thesis okay
can you find the the actual prompt that that you're going to turn into a
question here to help you develop your underlying it if you find it there so
what you're going to do is go to the directions for this particular prompt at
the end of the essay you just read and it'll say something like write an essay
in which you explain how the author builds an argument to inform and
persuade his audience of the health benefits or whatever his thesis is
you're going to turn that into a question how does the author build an
argument to inform and persuade his audience of whatever his thesis is and
that question is what you will then answer in your claim as you build your
own thesis
there it is so all you have to do is just yeah that and you've got your
question to help you with your thesis of course you remember from the checklist
you are gonna when you write your essay you're gonna give some background
knowledge first but how about right here in this blank space working on
developing your thesis ok so you so you're going to answer this question
that's your claim and then give your evidence
if you have any further questions on how to write the SAT essay please put them
in the comments down below share this video with some of your friends will be
taking the essay soon because we want you to never stop learning just have to
smile

Bentley's first ever hybrid model, the Bentayga, won't be its last - Duration: 5:59.
The Bentayga Hybrid Bentley introduced at the
Geneva Auto Show is the first of its kind, but it's certainly not the last.
The whole Bentley range will have an electrified option by 2025, even models like the Continental
GT and the stately Mulsanne.
The lineup will include at least one battery-electric car, too.
Digital Trends sat down with Peter Guest, the director of the Bentayga line, to get
his insight into the British company's first-ever plug-in hybrid model and what it means for
its future.
DT: Bentley just embarked on an electrification offensive.
Why start with the Bentayga?
PG: That's a good question.
There are a number of reasons.
I think the Bentayga is the obvious starting point from a package point of view.
Obviously, a battery pack takes quite a lot of space.
You need a lot of space to install the battery pack.
An SUV is ideally placed from a package point of view.
The battery pack goes in the rear of the car.
We wanted a seamless transition between electric drive and petrol drive.
That was a new calibration skill that we had to learn.
There's also a logic from a functional point of view.
Our aim with our plug-in hybrids is to maintain the traditional Bentley values.
We're talking about power, performance, and grand touring.
What we've also found, particularly in electric-only mode, is how incredibly quiet the car is.
There is absolutely no noise; nothing.
You're completely isolated from your environment.
Were there any challenges involved in making it totally silent?
Often times, automakers bring out a whole lot of wind- and tire-related noise when they
replace an engine with an electric motor.
We were very lucky when we developed the hybrid.
We already targeted Bentayga to be the refinement benchmark.
When we started doing our benchmarking work, at the beginning of the development process,
we found there was no SUV we would consider to be a refinement benchmark.
Our benchmark became the Mulsanne and the Flying Spur.
So, at the start of PHEV development, we already had a very strong base.
Did Land Rover's Range Rover not cut it?
Not in refinement, no.
In many other ways it did.
We love the Range Rover, it's a fantastic car.
Have you announced the specifications for the hybrid?
No, we just said it's a V6 and an electric motor.
We'll announce full specifications closer to the market launch.
What we can say now is it will have more than 400 horsepower and 100 of those will come
from the motor.
It will be a credible Bentley in terms of performance.
Were there any challenges in making the Bentayga a hybrid?
One of the things was that we wanted a seamless transition between electric drive and petrol
drive.
That was a new calibration skill that we had to learn.
We never had that combination of petrol and gasoline working together.
What we didn't want was a clunky transition between the different drive modes.
Getting it seamless was an incredible calibration task Bentley had to take on.
I think we did it.
This idea that PHEV technology is a transition technology is an interesting one but for us
it's a very valid technology in its own right.
What lessons did you learn from the development process that you can apply to your other cars
as you expand your portfolio of hybrid models?
The main lesson is the opportunities that combined electric and petrol drive gives us.
The opportunities in terms of performance, the opportunities in terms of access.
This idea that PHEV technology is a transition technology is an interesting one but for us
it's a very valid technology in its own right because it makes an awful lot of sense.
You can drive to the city in hybrid mode, put it in electric-only mode, and switch back
to hybrid mode when you drive out of the city.
It's a fantastic combination of technologies in one car.
You're never going to get stuck with a plug-in hybrid.
Are you worried about hybrid powertrains adding weight to your cars?
The battery pack will always be in the back.
You end up with a lighter engine and a battery pack in the back.
Interestingly, you also end up with a better weight distribution front to rear.
Our cars are quite front-biased.
When you go hybrid, the car is overall heavier but not as much as people think and it's
got a better weight distribution.
It gives you a more dynamic feel than you might expect.
Our aim with the hybrid is not primarily performance, it's a combination of luxury, refinement,
and performance.
What's next for the Bentayga?
We're not going to stand still.
If you look at what we've done since we launched the Bentayga at the end of 2015.
We launched the diesel variant in some markets in the last year, we launched the V8 early
this year, we're launching the hybrid now.
We have a lot of ambition to continue the evolution and continue the development.
We're still learning about the new sector that we're in.
We were the first ones on the market.
We did a lot of research to try and figure out exactly where we were going with it.
We're getting that feedback now.
We will adapt and evolve our offering as we get that feedback.
We absolutely don't stand still.
There will be more to come.

Disease has inflammation, gums are swollen, they're tender, and that's where the pain
is really from.
We can make you numb.
We can make sure you're extremely comfortable.
Once the underlying source is removed, the gums are able to return back to health.

Who Are You? - Duration: 12:59.
Hi, we're here in Oak Hammock Park in Sunrise, Florida and today, I'd like to talk to you about who we are as God's creation.
You know, one of the things - there are many things that I love about the Lord - one of those is how much He just
encourages us in
who we are and what He's made us to be.
We read over and over again in the Psalms how wonderful
we are, how the Lord created us, formed us, from the dust of the earth.
How He had intention for us. The Lord speaks through Jeremiah the Prophet
in Jeremiah 29:11,
and in essence He says you know I have plans for you, and those plans are for good and for
prosperity. Now generally we think of those things in monetary or
blessings that we can go ahead and and feel and touch, but the Lord has
much more
holistic approach to
what's good for us.
And it actually makes me think of
this story about Michelangelo of when Michelangelo was asked: when you look at a
slab of marble or a block of marble
how do you know what you're going to do with that marble? And his response according to the story is: you know I don't
know what I'm gonna do. I actually
just remove the parts that aren't supposed to be there, revealing the sculpture within.
And that's a really great picture of the Lord. The Lord looks at us in our raw state and He sees
the potential. He actually creates us -
perhaps like blocks and
through our walk with Him, through our life that He has given us. He actually works on us in a way that
chips away at the things that aren't supposed to be there, revealing the true potential that we have -
revealing the true potential that God created us with. He was already within us,
and He brings it out through the course of our life and through the course of our relationship with Him.
You know, King David talks about God creating us, and he reflects on God's creating of us in Psalm 139.
Where he discusses that God knows where we are no matter when or what.
He can be with us in the highest of highs on a mountain, or the lowest depths of the sea, there God is. And
David even goes further and says, you know God . . .
You actually knew me before You created me. You formed my inner parts
and I know that I'm fearfully and wonderfully made and
It's really neat that David uses that language.
Because he says fearful, and we often think of fear as well, I'm afraid, and so it's a
treacherous thing
to create us or when we say we're afraid of God or the fear of God. Really that word yahrah in Hebrew is
awe-inspiring -
not fear in the sense of being afraid, but rather an
awesome and wonderful thing. So He says I am
awesomely made, and on top of that, I'm wonderful (pele) which is a
description of our God in Isaiah chapter 9. And he says pele yoaytz
(wonderful counselor). And that word isn't just wonderful. It's like miraculously
unbelievably
Impossibly ... so we're actually
wonderfully miraculously
made.
You know, I reflect on another
story. It's gonna have my own
spin to it, but it's a rabbinical story about a rabbi who meets this man along the road.
Unfortunately the man
outwardly was not so
appealing to the eyes, and the rabbi
made comment. He's like man,
you're ugly. Is everybody in your town so ugly? To which the man responded:
You know, you have a problem with me?
Take it up with the Guy who created me.
And of course the rabbi being a holy man was convicted, realizing that
God truly does create us all in His image.
And sometimes we distort the image of God's perfect, wonderful,
fearfully
made creation and put our own biases into it and our own perceptions, and can call something that is beautiful
ugly. And who better to decide what is beautiful than God himself - God our Creator
telling us what's beautiful.
You know, the purpose of this discussion is to help us to come to terms with
who we are as God's creation.
So often
we're caught up in
judging others and judging ourselves as
either this person is such-and-such, or not worthy to be my friend, or I'm not worthy to be their friend.
We're filling ourselves in the world with judgment and that's not how God sees us.
And the sooner we come to grasp with that sooner we understand
how fearfully and wonderfully made we are and how God really perceives us that way.
You know I, I'm sure you're thinking, well
Matthew, you don't know me. You don't know
who I am, the things I think, the things I feel.
Well God does and
you know what? He's accepted you as you are.
We read in John 3:16 - I'm sure you've heard it over and over again -
God so loved that He gave His Son for us so that whoever
believes in Him might have eternal life. That is a
continued eternal relationship with Him. And so often, we don't move on to verse 17. Where it says
God did not send His Son to judge us,
but rather, that all would have life through Him. Do you hear me?
He didn't send His Son to judge.
He doesn't judge you. He sent His Son so that you could trust in Him,
have an eternal relationship with Him.
That's how much you mean to God.
He loved so He gave again.
He loved, He created. He loved, He restored our relationship.
He loved, He continues that relationship for all eternity.
Don't pass up the opportunity
to draw closer to the Lord because you have some doubts about who you are or
your self-worth.
You know what Matthew? I'm not ready to go ahead and meet God
because I'm not right yet.
Look.
He loves you the way you are. He invites you to come to see Him because He has so much potential that
He sees in you and He wants to bring that out, and
the best place for us to be is with Him and in a closer relationship with Him.
So don't let those doubts of the idea
that somehow God is judging you and He doesn't want to be in that relationship
or that He is going to reject you on some level. He hasn't rejected you. Again, He sent His Son
not to judge or reject us, but rather that we would have a relationship with Him.
You know, it's probably very easy to think of God rejecting us
just going back to the Garden of Eden and the accounts of
Adam and Eve eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and how they ended up having to leave the garden.
But the Lord shows up to meet with Adam and Eve, walk with them in the cool of the day and
they weren't there. And He says, "Where are you?"
And that word "where" in the Hebrew (ayakhah) actually doesn't have a
positional - it does have a positional - but it also has a relational ... God
shows up and He says, "where are you?" Not that He couldn't find them, but "I'm
walking, and this is where you're supposed to be.
Right here beside Me."
I'm convinced that if Adam and Eve had just
come out from the bushes and said, "Lord we..we made a mistake.
Lord,
we're sorry"
the Lord would have just said okay. This is where you're supposed to be. Let's continue the walk, and I'll take care of the rest.
But instead we chose to hide and we chose to
pretend the things didn't happen, not even acknowledging that our Creator showed up
and wanted us to be where we're supposed to be.
He created us to be here.
So when I began this video I told you I wanted to talk about
who we are as God's creation. God says that creation was good - actually, very good when He includes us.
David reminds us that God thinks that we're
awesomely put together that we are
miraculously formed,
that God sees such wonderful potential for us - as Jeremiah says: He's got great plans for us.
So I want to leave that question of who we are and move to
where are we?
Where are you?
Adam and Eve weren't where they were supposed to be. They weren't right by
their Creator walking with [Him] as they were intended to do.
Walking accepted.
Like Michelangelo, the Lord created us seeing all the beautiful
potential within...
that person within you.
He sees it.
He's just inviting you to your proper place. When He sent His Son
God said it wasn't for the purpose of judging, but that you might have eternal life.
This is eternal life. Walking with your Creator
So I encourage you today,
tomorrow, the day after that,
right now -
reflect in your heart.
Ask yourself:
Where am I? The where isn't where. The where is here.
Where are you? I miss you. Where are you?
I'm looking forward to this time.
We don't need to
fix things to come to Him to start the walk. He does the fixing. I
encourage you where you are
to not be discouraged by self-doubt, but embrace that relationship
even now. I
want to thank you for joining me today as we talk more about God's love.
I'm gonna include some scriptures in the description below, so I hope that you'll take some time and read them and reflect on... them and
really, actually take some time and sit before the Lord and some meditation and prayer and actually ask Him
to reveal to you
how much He loves you and what you're worth in His eyes. I look forward to spending more time with you in the future.
