When would you say that a parent should actually
come to a pediatric gastroenterologist for advice?
So if a parent is concerned about a child's growth,
that they are not growing well, they should see a
pediatrician or a pediatric gastroenterologist if there
are other symptoms also such as diarrhoea,
malabsorption, chronic constipation,
abdominal pain that is not going away or that is not
responding to regular medications, and if the child is
throwing up a lot, if the child is choking on foods.
So these are some of the symptoms when you
want to make sure that there is no underlying
gastrointestinal cause for the child's poor growth.
