David Green is accused of shooting a building code inspector named Michael Tripus at the Paradise Township municipal building in Monroe County, Pennsylvania.

The murder occurred on the morning of November 27, 2018, and Green was quickly taken into custody.

Green, 72, is from Swiftwater.

The victim, Michael Tripus, was 65-years-old, and he was from Stroudsburg.

Here's what you need to know:.

The Shooting Occurred Inside the Municipal Building.

In a news release, authorities said troopers in Stroudsburg were dispatched to the Paradise Township Municipal Building located at 5912 Paradise Valley Road, Paradise Township, Monroe County.

The call came in as "shots fired" within the building.

Upon arrival, troopers took a man in custody and located the victim deceased, according to the news release.

Authorities say the death was a homicide and identified the victim and suspect in the news release.

They say they took the suspect into custody without incident and there was "NO threat to the public/surrounding areas." The motive for the shooting is not yet clear.

Michael Tripus Was a Building Code Enforcer.

The Pocono Township website lists Mike Tripus as "Zoning Enforcement Officer.

" On the website for Paradise Township, he is listed as the "Sewage Enforcement Officer" and "Building Code Official.

" The website describes the latter position's duties as being "contracted by the Township to permit and inspect all aspects of the Uniform Construction Code.

As an example of the kind of work Tripus did, a town agenda form last spring contains a discussion about a new yard sale ordinance.

"Michael Tripus, Zoning Officer, presented a draft Yard Sales Ordinance to the board for discussion," it says.

Various community members raised questions about some aspects of it, such as a limit per year and what would happen to church rummage sales and flea markets.

He was involved in the town for years.

A 2014 agenda discussed illegal signage in the community and says, "M.

Zoning Officer, stated it is very difficult to go after non-compliance signage which received permits.".

In 2014, people voiced support for Tripus at a meeting.

One man described Tripus as "the most professional and respectful inspector he had worked with.".

David Green Does Not Have a Criminal History.

Pamela Lehman, a journalist with the Morning Call, wrote on Twitter, "It appears Paradise Township shooting suspect named by police as 72-year-old David Green has no criminal record in PA, other than a traffic ticket.

Municipal Officials Said They Were 'Shook Up'.

The shooting shocked and distressed municipal officials.

"I'm pretty shook up," Gary Konrath, chairman of the Board of Supervisors, said to The Morning Call.

"You say this a hundred times, but you wouldn't think it would happen here.".

The small community is located in northeastern Pennsylvania in the Poconos area.

It's located about 100 miles from Philadelphia.

On LinkedIn, Michael Tripus described himself as "Self employed building contractor for 34 years.

Mike Tripus Was Nearing Retirement.

Mike Tripus was close to retirement, Konrath told Morning Call.

In 1998, a shooting happened at a Whitehall Township municipal building when Kenneth C.

Adams shot himself as law enforcement officers met there for a training seminar.

He killed himself in the town manager's office.

In 2013, a gunman killed three people when he opened fire at a meeting being held at the Ross Township building.

He was upset over a dispute involving a junkyard on his property, acoording to The Pocono Record.

Artem Eydelman was charged with killing his 7-week-old daughter, Gwendolyn, in Florida.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Eydelman admitted punching the child in the head out of frustration while changing her diaper, The Tampa Bay Times reports.

Eydelman admitted to police that he punched and hurt the baby in frustration while changing her diaper.

He was watching the girl while her mother was at work.

Eydelman was charged with murder and for violating probation on unrelated charges.

He has a decade-long criminal history.

Eydelman was not the girl's biological father but met her mother while she was pregnant and signed Gwendolyn's birth certificate.

Here's what you need to know:.

Artem Eydelman Was Not Gwendolyn's Biological Father.

The Sheriff's Office told The Tampa Bay Times that Eydelman was not Gwendolyn's biological father.

According to the report, Eydelman met Gwendolyn's mother, Mariah Samon, when she was three months pregnant and signed Gwendolyn's birth certificate.

Gwendolyn died while home along with Eydelman while Samon was at work.

"How can you know when he was nothing but kind and gentle to Gwen in front of me," Samon wrote on Facebook, according to The Tampa Bay Times.

"I just checked on her during my lunch break that day, not even 2 hours before it happened & Artem said they were at the park and she was being so good for him.".

She said she is planning to move because she can't stand going into Gwendolyn's bedroom.

"I've lost everything this last week," Samon said, "even myself.

Artem Eydelman Changed His Story to Police.

Eydelman initially told investigators that he fed Gwendolyn, put her to bed in the basement, and went upstairs to sleep.

He told the detectives that he found the baby unresponsible 15 minutes later and told a family member who was in the home at the time to call 911.

After detectives found "discrepancies" in his story, The Tampa Bay Times reports that Eydelman confessed to punching and squeezing the child.

"Through various investigative techniques, detectives learned that Artem struck Gwendolyn in the head and squeezed the child's midsection prior to the child losing consciousness," the police complaint said.

"On November 26, 2018, detectives interviewed Artem… Artem admitted to detectives he struck Gwendolyn in the head with a closed fist out of frustration while changing her diaper on November 17, 2018.

Artem also admitted to shaking the child and squeezing the child's midsection prior to calling 911.".

Gwendolyn Died From Severe Injuries.

Gwendolyn was unresponsive and not breathing when first responders arrived.

She was rushed to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital where doctors discovered she had suffered a severe skull fracture, bleeding on the brain, and fractured ribs.

Gwendolyn was taken off of life support two days later.

"Gwen was so loved and we are so devastated.

Gwen was 7 weeks old.

She loved to be held, rocked, kissed on her tiny feet and bath time," family members wrote on a GoFundMe page set up to help pay for the hospital and funeral costs.

"Her favorite song was you are my sunshine, baby shark and hush little baby.

She was the best baby a family could ask for.

Artem Eydelman Was Charged With Murder & Is Being Held Without Bail.

Eydelman was booked into Pinellas County Jail Monday and is being held without bail.

He was charged with murder in Gwendolyn's death.

He is also charged with five counts of violating probation after he was convicted of strong-arm robbery and selling stolen property, The Tampa Bay Times reports.

Eydelman has a decade-long criminal history that includes convictions for domestic battery, robbery, and drug possession.

A GoFundMe Campaign is Raising Money To Help Gwendolyn's Mother.

A GoFundMe campaign was set up to help Samon, who spent nine months in prison for a drug possession charge in 2015.

The GoFundMe page says that Samon has been clean for more than two years and "even after this tragic incident Mariah is … strong in her recovery.".

A Florida State University football fan has been fired from his job with a major hotel chain after posting a racist Facebook photo about lynching the Seminoles head football coach, Willie Taggart, who is black.

Tom Shand made the post in a Florida State fans Facebook group after the team's 41-14 loss to the University of Florida on November 24.

The post featured a photoshopped image of Taggart's face on a black man hanging from a tree.

Shand, 43, was fired by Hilton Grand Vacations on November 26, the Tallahassee Democrat reports.

The post was made in a Facebook group called "Garnet and Great," the newspaper reports.

Taggart completed his first season with Florida State after the loss to the Gators.

He led the team to a 5-7 record.

Taggart has not commented about the post.

He was previously the head football coach at the University of Oregon and is the first black coach in Florda State football history.

Shand could not be reached for comment by Heavy.

The post was deleted by the page's administrators, but screenshots quickly went viral on social media, sparking outrage.

Christopher Holder, who runs the "Garnet and Gold" Facebook page, told the Tallahassee Democrat he deleted the image and blocked Shand from the group.

"He was pretty much a jerk when I contacted him, and he pretty much started cursing me out," Holder told the newspaper.

"It's a sad sight that I hate about social media that someone can make a comment and think it doesn't hurt anybody.

He's just a troll and that's the sad part.

I'm hoping to stop this kind of stuff.".

The State's Attorney's Office Has Launched an Investigation Into Shand's Facebook Post.

An investigation into the Facebook post has been launched by the Second Judicial Circuit State Attorney's Office, along with the Leon County Sheriff's Office and the Florida State University Police Department.

State's Attorney Jack Campbell told the Tallahassee Democrat that he was made aware of the post on Saturday and began investigating.

"It's hard for me to prosecute a Facebook post.

That's why we're working with our law enforcement partners to find out what the true facts are.

Then I can make a determination of what charges are appropriate," Campbell told the newspaper.

"Any threat of violence to anybody in this community – he's a father, a husband and a member of our community – we're going to investigate it to the fullest extent possible.".

Shand, Who Previously Worked in Financial Aid at Purdue University Global & in Sales at Disney World, Was in 'Violation of Multiple Company Polices,' Hilton Says.

Thomas Shand was fired by Hilton Grand Vacations after the company received many reports from social media users about the offensive Facebook post.

In a statement, the Orlando-based company's spokesperson, Lauren George, said, "Our concern regarding this situation has been a top priority.

The person responsible for posting this information has been terminated.

His behavior was in violation of multiple company policies and the furthest example from being a reflection of our company's values.".

According to his now deleted social media profiles, Shand had worked at Hilton Grand Vacations as a club counselor.

He previously worked at Wyndham Vacation Ownership and Walt Disney World in sales.

Shand appears to be divorced with two children, according to public records, and lives in Windermere, Florida, near Orlando.

Shand studied at Purdue University Global and once worked at the university in financial aid.

He also worked at Kaplan University as a financial aid support advisor.

He Called Himself a 'Follower of Jesus Christ' & 'Diehard Florida State Seminoles & Tampa Bay Bucs Fan' on Twitter, Where He Once Made a Racist Post About Another Coach.

On Twitter, Tom Shand used the username "tommynolebuc," and wrote in his profile, "Follower of Jesus Christ.

Diehard Florida State Seminoles and Tampa Bay Bucs fan." He deleted the Twitter account during the firestorm over his Facebook post, but a Google cache shows previous offensive posts, including a racist tweet about former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith, who, like Willie Taggart, is black.

Shand wrote in October 2015, "LOVIE SMITH, YOU'RE A SORRY PIECE OF SHIT!!! YOUR BOYS WENT IN THAT LOCKER ROOM AND NEVER CAME OUT!!! I HOPE THEY FIRE YOUR BLACK ASS!!!".

He also used a similar username on Florida State and Buccaneers fan message boards, and had been previously banned or suspended from those sites because of the content of his posts.

In 2015, another poster on a Bucs fan page wrote about Shand, "Shouldn't be back at all.

Far as I can tell he just got off suspension and went right back to his racist drivel.

Pretty sure it was his first post back.

Like a guy who just got out the joint for armed robbery and celebrates by committing armed robbery, let's just leave this idiot locked up.".

Shand's Facebook Post Drew Widespread Outrage From University Leaders, Politicians & Other Seminoles Fans.

Tom Shand's Facebook post drew widespread outrage from fellow Florida State fans, along with university officials and local politicians.

FSU President John Thrasher called the post "ignorant and despicable" in a tweet on Sunday.

"I speak for the entire FSU community in expressing our disgust and extreme disappointment, and I am glad the state attorney is investigating.

Coach Taggart has our full support and as true Seminoles know, he is a respected member of the FSU family," Thrasher tweeted.

Senator Marco Rubio told TMZ, "It's just wrong to say that about anybody.

It's unacceptable, outrageous.

That's just stupid.

I mean that's just dumb, stupid, maybe even hateful … obviously, it's a hateful action.

Maybe they thought it was funny.
