How Do Babies Become Bilingual? - Duration: 4:51.
You know that feeling when you get tongue-tied, and words come out as a jumbled mess?
Maybe you forget a word, or have mushy grammar, or your pronunciation is all wrong.
There are a lot of things to keep track of!
It seems like learning one language would be hard enough for babies, who already have
trouble eating and not spitting up everywhere.
But research has shown that infants are a lot more capable than you might think, especially
when it comes to language.
In fact, a lot of babies from bilingual families grow up fluent in both languages.
Many psychologists think language is what's called an innate ability, or something we're
born knowing how to do, like grasping objects and sucking on things.
Classic cute baby stuff!
So right from the start, babies are primed to learn a language – any language.
Most of us adults have trouble hearing subtle inflections in foreign languages.
Like, if you only speak English, it might be hard for you to hear the difference between
certain sounds in Thai or Russian.
But in their first few months of being alive, babies can tell really similar sounds apart.
To figure this out, lots of researchers have done studies where they pick a sound from
a foreign language and play it on loop for babies around four months old.
When the babies lose interest, the researchers switch to a new, similar sound.
Usually, these really young infants notice the difference and perk up somehow, like by
looking around or sucking harder on a pacifier.
But if scientists repeat this experiment around eight months later, one-year-old babies typically
ignore the second sound because they don't notice a difference.
That's probably because as they get older, their brain cells make connections that help
them focus on the sounds of their native language, and they get rid of unused connections related
to recognizing other sounds.
So, by the time an infant is one year old, its brain is already focusing on learning
whatever language it's been exposed to most.
And, surprisingly, babies don't need any special training to be bilingual!
But they need equal exposure to both languages.
Now, you might have heard that bilingual kids develop more slowly than their monolingual
counterparts, or are more likely to have speech delays.
But, according to the research, that's just not true!
That even applies to babies who grow up with one spoken and one signed language – like
English and American Sign Language.
As they get older, these kids keep their languages separate thanks to their awesome perception
skills.
Just by watching faces and listening to verbal patterns, they're able to figure out when
they should be speaking which language by around the time they're three years old.
And when they intentionally switch from speaking one language to another, like talking to their
friends in English but to their mom in Cantonese, that's called code-switching.
Now, even though monolingual and bilingual babies develop at the same rate, one study
from the University of Washington suggests that their brains process language a little
differently.
Psychologists used electroencephalograms, also known as EEGs, to detect electric brain
activity in some six-month-old monolingual and bilingual babies as they played recordings
of speech sounds in English and Spanish.
Babies in EEG caps?
Super adorable.
They found that monolingual babies caused a spike on the EEG whenever a mismatched sound
popped up, like a Spanish sound thrown in among a bunch of English sounds or vice versa,
which means they noticed a difference.
But bilingual baby brains didn't notice when the languages switched.
When the same babies were 10 to 12 months old, though, the results changed:
The monolingual baby brains only responded when a sound in their native language interrupted
a string of foreign sounds.
But not the other way around.
And the bilingual babies went from not noticing a difference, to hearing both kinds of mismatches.
According to the researchers, this means that monolingual baby brains seem to solidify connections
faster, to get ready to speak their primary language.
But the bilingual baby brains stayed more flexible and didn't develop that wiring
until later on.
Turns out that this flexibility can have some developmental perks, too.
One study published in the journal Science found that bilingual babies may be better
at learning rules and switching between them than monolingual babies.
In the study, one-year-old infants were taught that, when they heard a certain pattern of
sounds, they should look at a specific spot on a screen to see a fun toy.
When the psychologists changed the pattern and moved the toy picture, the bilingual babies
were better at figuring out the new rules and looking for the toy in the right places.
Multiple studies suggest that bilingual adults have similar benefits, like better focus and
ability to switch between tasks, and even less cognitive decline when they get older.
But this doesn't mean all hope is lost if you're not bilingual – it's just one
path a human brain can take.
Our brains are really powerful, and even when you were a tiny, adorable baby, you were a
lot smarter than you might think!

Anything But Books tag [CC] - Duration: 5:18.
Hey guys, it's Kirsti, welcome back to
my channel. Today I'm going to be doing
the Anything but Books tag because
everybody seems to be doing this one at
the moment, so why should I be any
different? This tag was created by Read
or Rot, and I will leave a link to her
original video down in the description
below. Question number one: name a cartoon
or cartoons that you love. I have a
confession to make, you guys. I don't like
cartoons. Like, at all. I loved The Simpsons
when I was in high school, but I didn't
like Disney as a kid, I wasn't really
interested in animated stuff as a kid, I
far preferred watching like Indiana
Jones and stuff like that. I just...I was
never really that keen on animated
anything, so I don't think I really have
an answer to this one. Question number
two: what is your favourite song right now?
I don't know that it's my favourite so
much as it's the one that's been stuck
in my head for the past four fucking
days and it will not get out no matter
what I do, and that song is Castle on
the Hill by Ed Sheeran. I don't really listen
to Ed Sheeran. I think I have a grand total of,
like, two of his songs on my iPod? I think
that's all. But he played this song on the
Graham Norton show a few weeks ago and
it's been stuck in my head intermittently ever
since. But the past few days it's just
been jammed in there and it will not go
away no matter what I do. So I guess it's
kind of my favourite in that it's
permanently in my brain. Question number
three: what could you do for hours that
isn't reading? Uh, play Lego video games.
I'm really bad at video games. Unless
they are the Lego video games, which are
designed for, like, six year olds. Then I am
fucking amazing and I love them and I
will often do that for entire days at a
time. Question four: what is something you
love to do that your followers might be
surprised by? Sleep. I love to sleep. I
think a lot of you guys think that I
don't sleep because I read so much but I
love love love sleeping. Like, it's my
favourite thing of ever. Question five: what
is your favourite unnecessarily specific
thing to learn about? Probably medical
history. More specifically, like, public
health responses to medical stuff in the
19th century. Like, I just find that really
fascinating. The 19th century saw such
a massive shift in the way that
medicine was handled and in particular
the birth of epidemiology I just find
really intriguing. But, like, any of that
kind of medical
history 19th century public health
response stuff, I'm just... I'm fascinated
by it. Question six: what is something
unusual that you know how to do? I don't
know how unusual it is but I can
tap-dance. Very badly, because I haven't
taken tap in, like, seventeen years. But I
can tap dance. I can also play the
clarinet. Again, probably very badly
because I haven't learnt in 17 years but
in theory I can play the clarinet.
Question seven: name something you've made in
the past year and, like, show us if
possible. Um. I've made a lot of videos? I
made a lot of friends at, like, VidCon and
stuff like that? Question eight: what is
your most recent personal project? I
don't think I have a current personal
project. I don't think I'm really a
project person... Like, any of my sort of
project type things are really to do
with reading, I don't think I have
personal projects outside of that. I
guess my current one is, like, my goal to
work out every day of the school holidays
because none of my clothes fit me
anymore and I really need to start
getting back into exercising again but
it just seems really hard after work so
at the moment I'm like "Well, if I work
out every day during school holidays,
then I'll be back on track when school
starts again and it'll be easier." So, like,
that's a goal more than a project. I
don't know. Does that count? Let's say that counts.
Question nine: tell us something you think
about often, maybe while staring out of
windows. Um. Usually if I'm staring out
the window, i'm thinking about food. Like,
how long is it until lunchtime, what am I
having for dinner, should I have a snack
when I get home. I just... I think about
food a lot. See also: that whole thing
where I need to work out more. Question
ten: give us something that's your
favourite, but make it oddly specific. Not,
like, your favourite food but, like, your
favourite food when you've been studying
for hours and forget to eat. Okay, first
of all? I literally never forget to eat.
That is not a thing that happens to me.
Let's go with my favourite things to
watch when I've had a really really
shitty day/week and I just need things
to be better for a little while. I think
I may have told you guys this before but,
like, it's worth repeating anyway. When I
have a super shitty day or a super shitty
week and everything sucks, there are two
specific things that make life better.
The first is the last episode of
the 2004 BBC adaptation of North and
South. Like, I love that entire miniseries.
But there is just something
about that fourth episode that is
completely wonderful and that I adore
with every fibre of my being and it
somehow makes shitty things less shitty
when you watch that episode. And the
other one I turn to is the season 6
episode of Dawson's Creek, Castaways. The
one where Pacey and Joey get locked in a
Kmart overnight and there is no Dawson
in the entire episode and it is glorious
and they are just adorable little
squishes and I love them together and
everything is perfect for that one 45
minutes of television, everything is
great and I adore it forever. And
question number eleven: say the first thing
that pops into your head. Oh my God, my
fucking foot has gone to sleep so I'm
going to stop talking now so that I can
move. If you want to do this tag, please
consider yourself to be tagged. Thank you
guys for much for watching, I love all your
faces and I will see you on Monday. Bye guys.

3 reasons why you should choose GuidedPath - Duration: 1:38.
In our GuidedPath program we have classes laid out with a specific curriculum,
it's somewhat calendar driven, it has a schedule, it keeps learners on track and on
pace to a successful completion over a number of weeks during that course.
I needed that structure and I liked the time frames, knowing that a quarter
started at a certain date and ended at a certain date.
But you're not working alone.
You're working with a faculty member that's interacting with you in a discussion board
forum, that's setting up virtual meetings, that's assessing the work that you've
already done, giving you feedback on that work
and allowing you to improve and hone in on your skills so you can move to the next
week.
And each week you get more feedback that helps you get better and better
and better and by the end of the course you've achieved something, you've learned
something, you've increased your competencies through this process and this
constant interaction with faculty members.
But it's really great in that you're able to interact with other learners in the
course room.
I really loved, so we were able to have discussions usually twice a week
on different topics relating to what we were learning that week.
I developed a lot of relationships in that program.
So I really liked that I could have that interaction with
other students anywhere in the world.
GuidedPath is a wonderful approach for any learner.
Those needing structure, those liking structure, those that want to
have all the information provided for you and
the path laid out for you…that's why it's called GuidedPath, those are the best learners
for that particular option.

Are you drinking enough water? - Duration: 8:55.
So we've all heard the recommendation
that we should drink six to eight
glasses of water a day. But how seriously
do we take that? And how much impact does
the amount of water that you drink have
on your health? Hi. I'm Nikki, the Truth
Fairy from ChoosingDifferently.com and
I'm here to help you find your way to
heal cancer.
So the first piece of
research that I want to share with you
talks about the relationship between
fluid intake and the risk of cancer.
They looked at three different types of cancer.
There were three different studies that
they reviewed to look at the effect of
how much water you drink and the risk of
cancer. And they looked at bladder cancer, colon
cancer and breast cancer. And they found
the risk was roughly halved from the
lowest water intake of the participants
in the study to the highest intake. In
one study it was two glasses versus five
glasses. In another study it was five
glasses vs eight glasses. So basically
doubling the amount of water that
these people drank decreased the risk of
cancer by half. And they controlled for
other factors like diet, calorie
intake and smoking. And it was accounted,
this effect was accounted for by the
water alone. So that's quite a big impact.
So basically their summary of those
results was there's an inverse
relationship between fluid intake and
the incidence of cancer. And in plain English
that means the more water you drink the
lower your risk of cancer. The other
research that I found on this topic was
the importance of the quality of the
water. So I found a few studies that
correlated poor water quality with
increased risk of cancer. For example, it
was in China they had poor water quality
in a particular area and it was correlated
with an increased risk of oesophageal
cancer. Nitrates in the water in Spain
produced an increase in the risk of
bladder cancer.
Arsenic in the water in
Bangladesh increased the risk of lung
cancer. Uranium in the water in Germany
increased the risk of various cancers. So
contaminants in the water can increase
the risk of cancer. So what do we know
about water and its effect on the body?
Well the first piece of information that
you've probably heard many times before is
that the human body is made up of a lot
of water. Somewhere in the range of 55 to
60 percent although it can vary based on
age, activity levels, how much water you've
had to drink recently. All of these
things can make it vary a little bit. And
the human body has no way to store water
so it needs a fresh supply of water every
day. You know it loses it constantly
through sweating, through breathing, you
breathe out moisture when you breathe
and of course going to the toilet also
you lose water that way as well. So you
need to keep constantly replenishing
that water because we can only survive
for about three days without water. So
that's not just starting to feel a bit
sick that's actually going from healthy
to not alive in three days if we don't
drink water. So water is critical to the
functioning of the body and it's essential
to most of the functions throughout the
entire body. It maintains the health and
integrity of every cell in the body and
promotes growth, survival and
reproduction of those cells. It keeps the
blood liquid so the blood can carry
oxygen and nutrients to the cells and
also so it can remove the waste products
of normal processes in the cells and
toxins like carcinogens and pollutants
that are in the body. It's also used in
those metabolic processes, for example
making hormones or neurotransmitters
or even in digesting our food. One of the
key chemical reactions in our digestive
system actually uses water as one of the
ingredients so it's really important that we
have water to be able to do those things.
Water also create saliva, helps food
moves through the digestive system, all
the way through so it can go through all
the processes and out the other end and
also helps to prevent constipation. It can
regulate body temperature through
sweating. It controls heart rate and
blood pressure. It lubricates and
cushions joints and water acts as
shock absorber for organs throughout the
body including things like the heart the
brain and the eyes. And as we've seen from
the science, drinking water can reduce the
risk of some cancers. And of course if we're
dehydrated we have the opposite problem,
that the body processes just don't work
that well. Particularly things like
enzyme reactions stop working properly
and the toxins that we're taking into
our bodies just can't be removed. So how
do you actually use this information?
Well the simple answer of course is to
eat, to drink a lot of water every day.
Preferably six glasses or more and as
much as eight if you can manage it.
Always have ready access to water so
it's always handy so you don't to have to have,
you don't have that obstacle of making
that effort to go and get some water in
order to be able to drink. Drink before
you get thirsty. So once our body starts
telling us we're thirsty it's almost, it's not
"too late", but we're quite dehydrated by
that point. So if we're thirsty we've
left it too long. So try and drink
regularly as a course of habit so that you
don't reach that point. Drink most of
your water as water on its own if you
can manage it but of course if drinking
your favorite beverages increases the
chances that you'll actually drink
enough water, then by all means do that.
Things that you can do include adding
lemon to your water to make it taste more
interesting, you can do fruit infusions
or you can drink herbal teas or green
tea, which has been shown to work against
cancer. And of course avoid those sugary
drinks because if you're drinking sugary
drinks, not only are you getting the
sugar that is creating the ideal
conditions for cancer to thrive as
I've talked about in previous videos, it
also dehydrates you. So they remove water
from your body rather than actually
giving you water. So stay away from those.
One other way that you can get more water
into you during the course of the day is
to eat more water-rich foods. And not
surprisingly the most water-rich foods
are fruits and vegetables. Most fruits
and vegetables are in the order of
eighty percent water or more and some are
as high as ninety percent and even
higher. Things like lettuce, watermelon,
celery, spinach all have 90 plus percent
of water so they're a great way to get
even more water into your day. So how do
I make use of this information? Well the
first thing that I do when I get up in
the morning is I drink a glass of water.
Not only does that get me started on my
glass count straight away but it helps to
get the digestive system going, flushes
out anything that's been accumulating
overnight, and by the time I'm ready to eat my
digestive system has flushed out and
it's ready to go. I have a glass of water
on my desk at all times and I drink from
that constantly over the course of the day.
And every time it runs out I refill it
from this bottle that I have sitting on
my desk at all times and I refill
that every time that empties
out and that's I think about a litre
water. So I drink at least a litre of
water a day plus all the other glasses
of water I have around that. One other way
that I get more water into my day is I
drink lots of smoothies. I might drink 1 to 4
smoothies a day and I also drink
herbal teas. Things like tulsi tea, lemon
balm tea, and raspberry leaf tea are all really
good for your body in general, they can
be good against cancer in some cases. But
I just really like the way they taste so
it's another way to get more water into
your day. The last thing that I do which
is also important and it's connected with
that science that I was mentioning about
water quality. And that is I only drink
filtered water. I've been drinking only
filtered water for many years now. I just
don't like the idea of adding more junk
into my system. I don't know what's in
the water that comes out of my tap and
I'd rather know that I'm drinking clean
water and minimising the amount of
additional strain I'm putting on my
body through additional toxins or
contaminants. So that was a little bit
about why it's important to drink lots
of water and what effect it can have on
your health. I hope you found that video
useful and now I'd love to hear from you.

10 pound, 20 pound, 30 pound weights
Jump-ropes, yoga mats, bikes and skates
Blenders to help us make them protein shakes
Books, music, and art that motivates
We can add to the bag, to the basket or cart
With a click of a mouse we can make those smart
Decisions-- products that are good for our heart
It's honestly not at all hard to start
And if you're like me and trying to save money
There are still ways left to hit the ground running
WikiHow, YouTube, bloggers, Instagrammers-- it's stunning
Knowledge is everywhere if you just do some huntin'
The web is a powerful tool you see
To help us get fit, to help us feel free
In our everyday lives and our families
It's all out there to access with ease
When you're feeling down or you're feeling blue
There's lots on the World Wide Web to do
Like videos of kittens, puppies or cats
Shows-- the Office, and Orange is the New Black
Music, podcasts, Netflix and Facebook
But don't get caught up on how "great" your friends' lives look
Boost your self-confidence, blog, read the news
Search ways to beat stress, however you choose
Those Amazon buttons that are sweeping the nation?
Maybe we'll have them for our medications
A doctor will approve and fill our prescription
With the press of a button we can get a subscription
To meds by mail--or delivered by drone--
Well, that would avoid awkward talks on the phone
Yes-- and instant messages with expert physicians
Could help help us out in the worse positions
If we're stuck at home or aren't physically able
We could DM doctors from our kitchen tables
And we could stay connected from our phone or tablet
Track progress with workout buddies with applets
Or applications to beat our personal best
To put our skills or motivation to the test
To lose weight, to gain friends, to help us get stronger
To help us sweat and live a little bit longer
Fitocracy, Extra Pound, Daily Mile
Apps working to bring people together in style
Social media platforms for getting fit
Could be the future of healthy kids!
Let's face it, what it takes is the help of the village
Determination, positivity, courage
United we could change ourselves for the better
Because there's nothing like getting healthy together
It can help us
get easy, fast, professional help!
It can help us
be informed!
It can help us
make the crucial paperwork easier!
It can help us
eat smarter!
It can help us
purchase healthy goods!
It can help us
inspire us in our health!
It can help us
take care of our mental health!
It can help us
embrace our best self!
The web is a powerful tool you see
To help us get fit, to help us feel free
To help us feel strong and know inner beauty
'Cuz that's how it always was supposed to be
We should be chasing, embracing, relentlessly racing
The up and up that the wide web is facing
To help us continue at our own pacing
'Cuz liberating ourselves and our health
...is amazing.

29 Things You Didn't Know About Our Founding Fathers - Ghino News - Duration: 6:11.
This list of interesting facts about the Founding Fathers will rock your world. These are little-known tidbits about former Presidents of the United States and the group of men who created America with its founding documents.
If you are looking for a list that features John Adams facts, George Washington fun facts, and loads of trivia about Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and John Jay! These geniuses make up some great US history trivia that will shock your friends, because these facts probably werent in your American History textbook. Who are our Founding Fathers? Well, they were a bunch of cool dudes. In fact, these facts about the founding fathers offer a ton of president trivia about the educations and occupations about these American leaders.
For instance, which of the first five presidents did not own a slave? Who married a 17-year-old? Who was a volunteer firefighter and what president was an awesome dancer? The only way to find out is to check out all of these fun facts about the Founding Fathers, now listed here for your ranking and learning pleasure.
Upvote the most interesting US Founding Fathers facts below, and file away Benjamin Franklins essay entitled Fart Proudly for your next dinner party conversation starter. Benjamin Franklin Volunteered for the Fire Department.
1 Benjamin Franklin Volunteered for the Fire Department. 1 of 29.
Benjamin Franklin not only gave birth to the United States and invented all kinds of stuff youve probably heard of, he also put out literal fires.
Franklin not only established Americas first volunteer fire department, but he was a firefighter himself and volunteered after witnessing a local blaze. 2 Benjamin Franklin Invented Your Rocking Chair.
Benjamin Franklin fitted his armchairs legs with curved wooden pieces, leading to what many believe was the invention of the rocking chair.
Considering this was the guy who figured out electricity and founded the United States, its not hard to believe. Franklin had all kinds of tricks up his sleeve.
3 John Adams Was the Only President of the First Five Who Didnt Own a Person. Kudos to John Adams! While the four presidents who held the job before him were slaveowners, Adams was in staunch opposition.
He, and his son John Quincy Adams, refused to own a human being when he moved into the White House. .
4 Benjamin Franklin Could Yell at You in Five Languages.
Even trilingual wasnt enough for Benjamin Franklin, the man who knew everything. From Spanish to Latin, Franklin could speak five languages in total. fluently (the other three were German, French, and Italian). Now thats a good education.
5 Thomas Jefferson Had About 6,500 Books. Thomas Jefferson was such a hoarder of books that he once said I cannot live without books.
Dont believe him? The reason the Library of Congress got 6,500 of the books in their collection is because Jefferson sold his collection for almost $24,000.
Its impressive to own a newspaper at any age; at 22, its absurd. In 1723, young Benjamin Franklin co-owned his own printing office. In fact, with the Pennsylvania Gazette, Franklin was the countrys youngest newspaper owner in history.
15 Benjamin Franklin Owned a Newspaper. at the Age of 22.
16 Alexander Hamiltons Son Died Exactly Where He Did (and in a Similar Way).
19 James Madison Married a Woman 17 Years Younger Than He Was. You would think James Madison lived in Hollywood because of the age gap between him and his wife.
While fellow Founding Father John Jay married a 17-year-old girl, James Madison married Dolley Payne Todd, who was 17 years younger than he was. The two sealed the deal in 1794.
20 Alexander Hamilton Was a Parentless Shipping Clerk. While Alexander Hamilton is considered a Founding Father, his own father was completely out of the picture. In fact, by the age of 13, Hamilton was an orphan.
In order to survive and cover his expenses, he took a job as a shipping clerk and moved in with his buddies.
21 John Jay Married a 17 Year Old.

The Importance of Reading Labels - Duration: 11:34.
Hi, everybody! Welcome to What's Up
Wednesday. I'm Heather and I just want to
say that I've missed my keto friends
and family. I was off last week, taking a
much-deserved and much-needed break
after seeing a fabulous concert, my hero
Stevie Nicks. So, I was recuperating and
taking care of some of my stuff. But this
week is really important. So whether
you're committed to this ketogenic
lifestyle or you're just looking to make
some healthier choices in your life, food-wise,
this is the episode for you.
How many times have you gone to the store,
picked up a package, thought it was a
healthy version of whatever it was you
were looking for, brought it home, only to
realize later that you've been duped. If
you have, don't feel bad because you're
in good company. This is what I do, this
is my realm, this is where I live and I
have fallen victim to it more
times than I care to even admit. That's
what makes me an expert on this subject,
just because I know. So marketing is a
multi-billion dollar industry, as we all
know, and food and grocery stores are
where they spend a lot of time and money
really kind of honing in on their skill
of buzzwords and things that we're
looking for and getting
consumers to pull the trigger and buy
certain things. There are certain buzzwords
these days that seem to be more
prevalent than others; things like
gluten-free, organic, natural, sugar-free,
whole grains... just to name a few.
And what I caution you on is just
because it might say something like that
doesn't necessarily mean it's healthy. I
can't tell you how many times I've
picked up something that was organic or
gluten-free only to flip over the box
- after I got home - read the
ingredients and thought, "Oh, my god, I
would not feed this to my dogs!" A perfect
example of that was, I was shopping not
too long ago and I was trying to get my
teen boys
a little treat. They had been
kind of bugging me for something sweet
in the house and so I bought Annie's Organic
Gluten-free Snickerdoodle Bunnies. Those
seemed like pretty harmless until I got
home, and as I was putting it away and I
looked over at the label, and there had
to be like 30 ingredients in there. 20 that
I couldn't even pronounce and 10 I for
sure wouldn't even feed my dogs. So I
told the boys, "This is it. You
eat it and this is done. We're not doing
this again." So it's happened, more times
than I can count for myself. But I can tell
you it's happened a hundred percent of
the time with my clients, usually it's
with things like sweeteners. So there's a
lot of misconception. You know,
they'll say, "Well, what about agave or
what about honey or what
about monk fruit. Are those good
sweeteners?" And I'm like, "No.
That's sugar. Sugar is sugar." But then it gets a
little tricky. So what about stevia?
Stevia is something I use in a lot of
different things. But I'm very particular
about the brand of stevia I use. And I'll
tell you a story - and this story is
actually a story that has happened
numerous times to numerous clients of
mine - and the stevia especially
seems to be one of those tricky,
tricky places. Do you guys remember when
we were younger, for those of us that are
in our late 40s, Sugar In The Raw
came out and it was like a big thing.
All of a sudden, everybody was
going for the Sugar In The Raw
because it was supposed to be a
healthier version of sugar. Less
processed and so, in turn, that made it
better. And I remember kind of being
upset at my mom for bringing it into the
house because that didn't look like
sugar. I mean, it tasted like sugar, I
guess, but it didn't look like sugar and
didn't feel like sugar. But we were all,
from that point forward, we were all
like, "Oh, Sugar In The Raw, that's a
healthier version of sugar." Well, stevia...
Sugar In The Raw has now packaged
what they call Stevia In The Raw and I
find that a lot of my clients will opt
for Stevia In The Raw as their stevia
choice because they're familiar with
the name, and it says natural, and it says
a whole bunch of things that
are pretty in marketing and target
all the buzzwords that we're
looking for. But what most people don't
know is that it's got dextrose in it,
which is a form of sugar, and causes
insulin spikes and everything else. So,
it's not stevia in the raw. Stevia In The Raw,
to me, would be... stevia in the raw!
Nothing else going on with that.
Maybe it's not processed, maybe it's
straight off the stevia plant. But
that's the vision that it evokes for me
and I believe that that's probably
happened to numerous people, as well. I
know it's happened with my clients and
the reason why I usually end up
finding out that that's the stevia that
they've chosen is because I'll be
going through their food journal with
them and they don't understand... they're
not in ketosis or
they've gained a couple pounds. A client
of mine in particular had been making
some Plantain Muffins and she'd been
using Stevia In The Raw... actually,
she'd been using Truvia, which is another
one... that's another tricky one. A
different client used the Stevia In
The Raw for another treat and it was
the same end result, which was weight
gain and not being in ketosis. But what I
had her do was - I had both of them
actually - go grab the boxes that they had,
flip them over, and start reading the
ingredients to me. And it was this aha
lightbulb moment for them when they
realized that what they thought they
were getting and buying, and paying good
money for it, was not in fact what they
actually had. So what I tell
people and, especially my clients hear
this probably once a week from me, read
the labels. That is really the only
way you will know truly what you're
getting so forget the fancy packaging and
the wording and things like that. Yes, go
for organic whenever possible. I also go
for non-gmo verified
whenever possible. But ultimately what I
am looking at is the list of ingredients
and if I am not familiar with an
ingredient in that list, I have my phone
I Google that. I Google that so I have
an idea of what is it exactly. Is it just
a fancy word for something I would never
put in my body if I knew what it really was,
like MSG has twenty four different
other names... but you wouldn't necessarily
know that unless you Google it. So the
the one thing that I want to really hit
home with you is, no matter what kind of
choices you're making for a healthier
lifestyle, whether it be weight loss or
health reasons... whatever it is.
Whether you're staying true to ketogenics
or you're just trying to really
just start making better
choices, the very first place to start is
at the grocery store. Before you shell
out good money for something that you
would never, in your right mind, if you
had all the information, would buy and
put in your house to feed yourself and
your family... {{Sorry for the technical blip. Hang in there, I'm coming back in just a few minutes!}}
Trying to figure out why this isn't
working, nine times out of ten it's not
working because there's something
sabotaging you and it's probably in that
food. If you're eating only things that
you're making and that's kind of nearly
impossible... I don't can my own tomatoes. I
don't pickle my own pickles,
which I could I guess I just don't have
time or at least I choose not to have
time for that.
But there's certain things that I do buy
that are prepackaged but I make sure - now -
to read the labels. And the few times
that I haven't read the labels, it's
gotten me (usually at the house) and then
I'm trying to figure out do I want to
throw it away and waste some money or do
I let my kids eat it and hope that
it doesn't do any permanent damage to
them. So that's all I have for this week
but if you want to learn more about
sugar and what brands I use, head over
to the blog, ItStartsWithTheFood.com.
Today, it's all about stevia but I also
have a blog post from back in july about
olive oil. So there are things
masquerading as healthy versions of our
food all over the place and we need to
be the detectives to figure out what
those things are and what are the good
choices or the healthier choices and
then support those products. Local,
locally-sourced, organic... always better
than anything else in my opinion.
Quality counts for food for sure. So
that's it for me for What's Up Wednesday.
Next week, we'll have a recipe on the
blog and for those of you that have not
had the chance to order the cookbook or
the Ketogenic Solutions, our how-to guide
to get started in the keto world, I have
some copies. They were
sold out on Amazon Prime.... {{There it is, my beautiful internet... sigh. Head over to my website (below) and check out my books!)}}
prime member there's some in stock now
so you can get yours within two days so
get them before they're sold out again
you have to wait a week I just got mine
I was they were sold out when I tried to
order mine I just got mine in and in
stock so I'll be throwing a launch party
probably at the end of April
so stay tuned i'll be talking more about
that later and if you have any questions
about about any brands of stevia or
olive oil or anything else that you've
got going on just ask me you can hit me
up here on the thread or you can private
message me you can leave a message on
the website on the blog post i'm just
i'm happy to have that conversation i
just want to spread the word and you go
spread the word to your people and your
friends and family and have them spread
the word and pretty soon marketing and
packaging and label reading will just be
something that we we know to do so take
care see you next Wednesday

Facebook Automation - How increase Group Members or Facebook Fan? - Duration: 6:57.
What is the simplest method to increase your facebook fan or group member?
You can use following schedules to do this
First, create a schedule to adding suggested friends for your account
Please do not abuse add new friends, you may got blocked very fast
For a new account you should send 1 request per hour
Next, we will create a schedule to auto accept new friend requests
and invite them to your group or like your page
In this video demo, i will select a group that i joined.
I will need to select a text file contain group ids that i want to invite my friend join to it
Similarly, create the list of page id that you want to invite your friends like them.
Because this is a video demo, i will select a random page from search
You can leave invite page option if you are increasing group member only and vice versa
Another schedule ...
That is auto interaction on notifications
Similar to auto accept friend requests, we will invite new friends to groups or like your page
As mentioned before, you should add a friend per hour for new account
Now, we will test these schedules to see how does it work
The friend request sent
In the notifications, i have an user just accepted my friend request
That is user with name "Tung Nguyen"
The software also invited him to like the page that i selected in the schedule
The timer is most of important for your schedule, please consider this option
Good luck to you ....
