Waching daily Apr 22 2018

In this video, I'd like to revisit a concept from my television series.

I created this thumbnail for my video explaining analog color TV,

and it's been causing debate ever since.

Though I had hoped my video on Trinitron would help illustrate my point and put the debate

to rest, there was and is still much debate in the comments.

It seems this debate comes mostly from semantics, and I'll admit I see a gap in my explanation.

So let's try again.

This is the TV in my kitchen.

Like any TV on sale today, it produces an image by manipulating the brightness of many

thousands (and these days millions) of individual picture elements called pixels, which is actually

just short for picture element.

There are a few different technologies in use these days, but at their core their job

is to produce a set brightness value for the red, green, and blue components of each pixel.

These are called subpixels, and in many LCD panels each subpixel is actually further divided

into sub-sub pixels.

This probably increases the total number of discrete brightnesses each color can make,

and thus allows for more precise control over the panel and a larger number of possible colors.

Someone please correct me if that's not what the subdivisions do.

The combination of red, green, and blue can create what appears to our eyes to be any color,

because the way we perceive color (for those of us with normal trichromatic color

vision, anyway) is through the ratio of stimulation between the three different cone cells in

our eyes.

Their primary sensitivities are red, green, and blue, so by using just these three colors,

we can activate the cone cells in any given ratio and thus produce any apparent color.

This biology hack is the result of the overlapping sensitivities of each cone cell.

For example, yellow light stimulates both the red and green cone cells in your eyes

roughly equally, as both of these cells can detect this wavelength of light.

This means that to recreate what we see as yellow light, we don't need to actually

reproduce the same wavelength of light.

Instead, we can artificially stimulate the red and green cone cells with just red and

green light, and so long as the red and green cells receive the same relative stimulation

as they did with honest-to-goodness yellow light, the brain can't tell the difference

and thinks it's yellow.

Simply outputting red, green, and blue light can produce any color to our eyes because

when combined, it can produce the same ratios of stimulation between the three cone cells

that any real color would.

Anyway, the microprocessors inside this television are working together to make it all...happen,

and the main image processor can tell the panel exactly what to do.

The image on screen is coming from a Chromecast, and through the HDMI port on the television,

the Chromecast can tell it exactly what each pixel needs to do to make this image, and

the drivers inside the TV will make that happen.

We can define the resolution of this display by counting how many pixels there are along

each edge.

I'd rather not actually do that, so I'll just recite the specs here and tell you that

there are 1,366 pixels along the bottom and 768 pixels along the sides, yes I know that's

not 720P but that's the panel that's in here, and that means that there are 1,049,088

pixels on this screen.

Generally, resolution is defined as X by Y, so we'd say this panel has a resolution

of 1366 by 768.

Now take a look at an old school CRT television.

Get nice and close to it and you'll find what appear to be pixels.

There's a neat division between red, green, and blue.

The borders are defined, and it's forming a grid, almost.

But, you would be running a fool's errand if you attempted to count the number of these

"pixels" along the edges to determine this TV's resolution.

That's because these aren't pixels, and they don't define its absolute resolution.

To understand why, you need to look at a black and white television.

Oh how convenient, a black a white television.

Now with the set turned off, you can't see any structure to this screen.

Going back to the LCD TV, even when it's off, that grid of pixels is still there.

You need to shine a bright light onto it to see them, but the pixels are there as physical

parts of the screen.

But on this little CRT, there's no grid to be seen.

Let's switch it on.

With an image now on screen, you should be able to see a series of lines.

In analog video, this is how the image is drawn.

See, the CRT only has one "pixel" to deal with.

At the rear of the picture tube is an electron gun which is projecting a single point of

light at the screen.

Then, electromagnets in the deflection yoke move this point around the screen very rapidly

in a pattern called a raster.

By varying the brightness of the point of light as it moves around the screen, an image

can be made.

The image is drawn as a series of stacked horizontal lines.

In the US, roughly 480 lines are visible on the screen at once, drawn as two fields of

240 lines 60 times per second as interlaced video.

This is why standard definition is defined as 480i here in the States.

I've made a video explaining how analog television works in greater detail, which

can you find up above now or down below later.

Now, this TV has no idea what it's doing.

It doesn't have a microprocessor.

It doesn't have an HDMI port.

It doesn't have any digital circuitry of any kind.

All it's doing is looking for two pulses in the video signal, the horizontal blanking

interval and the vertical blanking interval, in order to draw the image in the same place

on the screen and not have it roll around like this.

The nature of this signal is analog, and really all the signal does is tell the TV how bright

to make the image.

It's just timed really really well so that each individual part of the screen is drawn

with the correct brightness, as the position of the point of light is determined by the

length of time that has elapsed from the start of the frame.

And to be clear, we're dealing with tiny fractions of a second since the beam moves

incredibly quickly.

So then, here's the challenge.

Where are the pixels?

Well, there aren't any!

If I change the channel and we take a look at snow, you'll see that there is no regularity

whatsoever in this noise.

If this image was defined by a grid of discrete picture elements, the borders between white

and black sections should form columns of some sort, or at the very least there should

be some clear vertical structure visible.

But there isn't.

They appear completely randomly within the line.

I can tell you exactly where the line is, but I can't define any separation within

the line itself.

That's completely arbitrary.

Now here's where the color CRT comes into play.

Specifically one like this.

This is a GE television, using a slot-mask CRT.

Up close, it appears to have a similar grid structure to the LCD TV in my kitchen.

So then, why aren't these pixels?

They're what make up the image, right?

Well, no, they aren't.

These are actually called phosphor dots.

What they do is create specific targets for the red, green, and blue electron beams to hit.

See to make a color image, we need to make a red, green, and blue image, and they need

to be merged together somehow to appear as one.

In the early days of color TV, there were all sorts of ideas being explored on how to

produce an RGB image.

I'll throw another card up on my playlist on Television, because if this is the sort

of thing that interests you you can take quite the nerdy deep dive.

A color CRT is functionally identical to a black and white CRT, but it draws three separate

images at once.

Think of it like three picture tubes, one red, one green, and one blue, combined into

a single picture tube.

This combined tube has an electron gun for each color, but of course we also need a way

to separate the colors in order to drive each one on its own.

That's what the phosphor dots do.

They separate the face of the tube into a mosaic of red, green, and blue dots.

The earliest color TVs used a pattern of phosphor dots that looked like this.

These dots line up with a simple metal sheet just behind them.

Let me show you what it does.

Here I have a green flashlight.

If I shine it at this poster board, it creates a flood of green light.

But if I place a mask in front of it with a single hole, now the light can only make

it through in a straight line between the flashlight and the hole, which produces just

a dot on the poster board.

Now, here's a red flashlight.

Watch what happens when I put it next to the green flashlight.

Because the red flashlight is in a slightly different position from the green one, the

light it makes can't take the same path as the green light.

It will go through the hole at a different angle, so the dot it produces appears next

to the green one.

Now if I add a third, blue flashlight and put it in between the red and the green just

above them, a blue dot appears below the red and green dots.

If I take the mask away, it creates just a wash of white light.

But with the mask in place, it produces three small dots of light in the same arrangement

as the flashlights themselves, though it's mirrored and upside down.

If I add a second hole the to mask, the same pattern appears right next to the first set

of dots.

If I keep going and make a bunch of small holes in this offset pattern, what we get

is a mosaic pattern of red, green, and blue dots.

This is happening because the flashlights are arranged in a triangle, and at every hole

in the mask the beams converge and cross over to project the opposite image on the screen.

Notice how similar this pattern is to this color CRT.

See, if I aim these three flashlights together at the poster board, their beams just blend

together and make what appears to be white.

This is what would happen if we used a color CRT without a mask.

But if I place the mask in front of it, which is just a piece of aluminum foil with some

holes punched in it, suddenly a pattern just like the phosphor dots appears.

Now, the red beam can only hit specific parts of the screen, and the blue and green beams

can't hit those points.

Because the light sources are physically separated, they can only make their way through the holes

at specific angles.

The mask puts the red targets in the shadow of the blue and green beams.

The mask casts a shadow on the targets.

Wait a minute,

shadow mask!

What's important to realize here is that the mask is what's creating the pattern

of dots.

The flashlights are firing indiscriminately at the mask, but the mask will always force

each beam into the correct location on the other side.

This means that no matter what sort of pattern of light the beams or flashlights are creating,

it will always appear as a series of dots on the other side.

So if we go back to our picture tube, what you see as a viewer are the phosphor dots

which are the targets for each individual color electron beam.

Inside the tube, directly behind them, is the metal sheet with holes in it, which always

ensures the color components stay separated and project onto the phosphor dots in the

correct orientation.

But the key here is that they do not change how the image is drawn.

Just like the black and white television, this TV is stacking horizontal lines.

In fact, these two televisions are receiving the same exact signal.

The difference is that the color TV can recover the color information that's superimposed

in the signal through quadrature amplitude modulation--

Don't worry too much about the specifics of that--

and it can then adjust the relative intensities of the three color components.

But since that means it's effectively drawing drawing three different sets of lines at once,

it needs a way to keep the colors from crossing over.

That's what the shadow mask does.

Remember, even though the flashlights were just blasting away at the mask, the mask made

sure each part was separated into little dots on the other side.

From this side of the picture tube, it's just like taking a black and white CRT, then

drawing a grid on top of it, and then coloring each little cell in with red green or blue.

The only functional difference between a true color CRT and a black and white CRT with lines

and colors drawn on top is that the mask behind the phosphor dots of the color picture tube

ensures the colors stay separated, and thus allows for individual control of each color.

Now, this style of shadow mask makes it hard to even define what could be a pixel.

Assuming each pixel contains one red, one blue, and one green dot, well first of all

they're triangular, but then each one changes orientation as you move on and really it's

just a mess but this style of CRT, which uses a slot-mask display, does make a pattern that

really looks like there are pixels.

These CRTs arrange the electron guns in a line, and rather than use a mask with round

holes they use a mask with small slots.

This allows more of the beam energy to pass through the mask and makes a brighter image.

And here's where the semantics comes in.

I'll grant you that the picture is "made up of" these groupings of phosphors.

You could say that they are elements of the picture, and thus are pixels.

But this ignores the fact that they are only there as a side-effect of the need for color

separation.

They are in front of what makes the image, and are not the actual building blocks of

the image.

To put it another way, here's a window screen.

If I put it in front of this album cover, does that become a pixel?

Have I pixellated the image by placing a grid in front of it?

Or have I simply compartmentalized parts of the image into little square cells?

And here's the part that I think is hardest to understand.

The phosphor dots do not in any way define the maximum amount of detail that can be displayed

on the screen.

That may sound silly, but hear me out.

All they really do is define the maximum color resolution of the display.

Let's go back to this CRT.

I've only shown it in close-up because this is a laughable little 5 inch color TV boombox

from some point in the 1980's.

The dot pitch, that's the fineness of the dots, is very poor on this TV.

I mean, you can't really blame it, as it's only got 5 inches to work with.

This means it can't display much color detail, but it can display as much brightness detail

as any television.

Let me boot up Kingdom Hearts.

[PS2 Game Start noise]

OK, so take a look at the menu in the bottom left corner.

If we look at the black and white TV, we can see that there are about 10 or 12 lines defining

the height of the letter M in Magic.

If we count the number of dots along the height of the M, we also get about 10, maybe 11.

But, each cluster of three color dots spans the height of two lines.

We appear to have only half the color resolution as we do brightness resolution in this CRT.

Look at how infrequently a red dot appears among blue and green.

That's they key here, we're not getting a lot of complete RGB clusters among the word

Magic, but we can still clearly see the shape of the word Magic.

You can even see the how the center of the A is darker than the rest, but only this one

red dot is actually darker.

But the thing is, from a normal viewing distance, you can't really tell how poor the color

resolution is.

Once you're far enough away that you can't discern the individual phosphor dots, the

image appears more or less normally.

This is in contrast to a digital LCD panel, where the pixels themselves define the shape

of an image.

If I want to draw a letter M using a grid of 10 X 10 pixels, well I can say how bright

I want each pixel to be.

Then I can tell the display what to do with each of these 100 pixels to make an M. But

in the case of a CRT, it's drawing the M like this, in Lines.

That shape is then forced into the grid of phosphor dots, and wherever it lands will

tell you which dots get lit up.

And that's the key difference.

In digital video, the pixels define the shape of the image, logically.

In analog video, the shape of the image defines which phosphor dots are lit.

You can see this effect with the small TV.

This screen really suffers where very small, colored elements appear.

If I open the pause menu and look at these stats, some of it is very hard to read.

That's because this text is colored green, so the blue and red guns pretty much

don't fire when drawing it.

Since the green dots are so far apart and this text is so small, if the text to be drawn

lies between the green dots, it just won't get drawn.

It's not like the gun isn't firing, it's just that for the entire section here, the

text is in the shadow of the green gun, so none of its energy is able to light up the screen.

And that's the point I'm trying to make when I say "these are not pixels".

These two TVs are displaying the same image and they both have 480 lines of resolution.

But this little CRT has fewer phosphor dots, so it can't recreate color as precisely

as the larger TV.

But that doesn't mean it's not conveying the same 480 lines of resolution.

It is, just in brightness only.

It loses detail in the color department, and as a side-effect it can't reproduce some

fine color details.

A CRT television has no control over how the three electron beams interact with the mask.

The combined beam can land and will land wherever it wants, and it's then up to the mask to

separate the color components.

The clusters of phosphor dots are there just because they need to be.

They can be a different size, a different shape, and some TV's don't even split

them up beyond vertical stripes.

Trinitron.

As a final point, which I think is at the crux of the issue, in an LCD, OLED, Plasma,

or any sort of digital display, the grid of pixels is an active matrix.

The display has an electrical connection to each one of them, and can talk to it.

The shadow mask and phopshor dots are a passive component of the CRT.

They don't get addressed.

They don't have an electrical connection.

They're just there.

Sure, the TV does "control" which ones get lit up, but it's not done with logical

control or any precision whatsoever.

Just like the black and white CRT, wherever the beam lands is what part gets lit up.

Now this isn't to say that an analog TV can't produce an image made of pixels.

Surely it can, it's just making small squares.

And in fact that's what it's been doing throughout all of this video.

A PlayStation 2, DVD player, Roku box, or any digital source with a composite output

will take its logical 640X480 digital grid and convert that to the 480 horizontal lines

to drive the TV.

But I guarantee you those ethereal pixels in the logic circuits of the digital source

won't be lining up nicely with these phosphor dots.

They simply don't need to.

What is the most illogical thing someone has said to you? - DragoNate Reading Your Answers - Duration: 7:20.

hello friends I'm dragonate and welcome to another dragonate reading

your answers this week here last week I asked you guys what is the most

illogical thing that someone has ever said to you you guys left your answers

and I will be reading them in this video but of course we need a new question for

this week your question for this week is what is wrong with the world today tell

me one thing one thing that is wrong with the world today what do you think

about that I am curious what you wanted what what you think in that regard it's

a bit of a weirder question I know but let's let's see what do you guys think

also I apologize this video is gonna be I'm gonna try and make this video

extremely quick and it'll also be up very very early and there won't be too

much editing with it I in our specialness I am working this morning

and I have about an hour before I have to leave so yeah me so let's let's

quickly get started here so we're gonna start off with zinc at says Pak pong

that's too cool I know right peplums awesome I don't know what would be the

most illogical I think when I told a friend I didn't believe in the horoscope

she said that's because you're a Virgo makes perfect sense yes Omar says

illogical me being tall someone told you that you're tall what are you short hmm

and I'm confused by this but that's okay Benny says it's logic but when I first

heard this I can't believe it physics I'm pretty easy pretty much the only

person who likes that my teacher said the density of ice is lower than the

density of water I thought are you serious every hard thing has a higher

density than its liquid aggregate state except this I asked him why it is so and

he said I don't know thanks teacher logical but a logical - right Coco

replied and said that it could be the air in the ice that makes it less dense

who knows maybe meter says illogical Oh everything all right a straight angle is

80 degrees that's the one I heard last Friday the poor unfortunate soul did not

know his geometry oh come on what what other what other angle could a

straight line possibly beat

mom says I guess the most illogical thing that anyone's ever told me is a

doctor telling me I would never have kids and if he's a few years later I was

pregnant with you Wow this doctor had me in turmoil I

could imagine that doctor was a bit of a dumb-dumb cassettekat says hi sorry

never replied lately no worries oh just totally fine people get busy that's

alright I know it's late but the games I loved when I was young was Crash

Bandicoot spiral unreal and crock they had cool games so that was for the

previous question there kroko says illogical illogical don't

remember anything I'm used to be called cheater in games that's it if something

pops up in my mind during week I'll write it here so that I guess people

just calling you to you you're just too good at games T Lisa says nice

background choices thank you appreciate it

this one only has a single background choice also I am half invisible I didn't

notice oopsie the lighting is terrible right now

teacher said to me once you can do art but not math that's impossible and until

I saw the matrix screen with the numbers on letter moving I couldn't explain what

was going on with numbers and I then realized you can really do it so you

really can guess while reading but you can't in math and even when using

letters you have to understand basics they won't teach you if you don't get

past a certain grade level which is a little bit ridiculous and I know I I had

some issues in school as well with it was some subjects and math was one of

them I could I could always get the right answer but I couldn't show my work

I could never show my work properly because trying to take what's in my head

and put it on paper didn't work for me and I usually found different ways to to

figure things out than what was being taught and when I was in school this was

okay as long as you showed your work but I couldn't show my work now of course

you have the Common Core math where it has to be done a specific way even if

you like Oh what is it for example there was one student who

whose math question was what is three times five and he put fifteen obviously

he got 15 but what he did is he showed his work by putting three groups of five

which is incorrect because the question was three times five so should have been

five groups of three and so he got the answer wrong because he showed us work

the wrong way just because of the order and it's freaking stupid if he asked me

anyway that is it for this video or no not not correct because the most

illogical someone has ever said to me what is it when I was in high school I

had a lot of really weird teachers some that made no sense some that were just

mean and rude and other things I I could I could make 40 videos just telling

about those not my one teacher I I had to go to the bathroom this was like two

hours after lunch I think it was it was like the I believe we had like two

classes after lunch time there are three classes after lunch time so it was the

second one there maybe about two hours but an hour and son and I had to go to

the bathroom right we were he wasn't in the middle of speaking we were in the

middle of doing our own work right and so I went and I asked if I could go to

the bathroom and he said I forget what exactly he said but he was very

reluctant to let me go to the bathroom and I'm like or no yeah that that's what

was he he's like why didn't you go in during lunch I'm like I did but I have

to go again now and he didn't like my answer and so he he let me go but he's

like next time go before you have to go so you don't waste my time and I'm like

what really yeah because me going to the bathroom is wasting his time when he's

not even speaking or anything he has another whole entire class the

idea I've been told when it comes to teacher teaching a class is that if one

student is mucking up or making a fuss or whatever they're not wasting the

teachers time teacher get paid there either way you're wasting

the rest of the classes time because the class doesn't get paid and if the class

is only there for an hour and someone's disrupting everyone for half of it then

that's half the hour that that class doesn't get to learn it's not the

teachers time that's being wasted dumb-dumb anyway that one is it for this

video so thank you all so much for watching

appreciate it thanks for leaving your answers don't forget to answer this

week's question again what do you think what is one thing that you think is

wrong with the world today could be society could be nature could be

whatever it is I just let me know what you think I'm curious and yeah I will

read your answers in next week's videos so thank you all for watching and I'll

see you again very soon bye bye and Godbless and wish me luck because I still

have to work tomorrow morning and the next morning and also today morning and

then Thursday morning but

The 9 Insidious Addictions You Encounter Daily - Duration: 2:34.

This video is not about the drugs you might think of.

Those are kept for weekend thrills, house parties and escaping problems.

Addiction is a brain disorder

characterised by compulsive engagement

in rewarding stimuli despite adverse consequences.

Wikipedia said that.

Today 2.25 billion Coffes' will be drunk around the world.

Just today the 1.2 billion

Smokers around the world will smoke an average of 15 billion cigarettes.

72 million liters of pure alcohol will be drunk.

Sugar! That''s everywhere.

And he can't estimate what you can't see.

Americans listen to 32 hours of music a week.

2 billion people will use social media today forgetting about the world for around

135 minutes.

Pornhub will get 78 million visits just today

Today I bring you something more subtle.

The elephant in the room nobody talks about.

Just because it's widespread to the point that it became a trend.

A very profitable one.

I used to think cravings were only about food and drinks.

Today doesn't matter where you are

or who you are with

but sometimes during the day you will feel it.

It starts with your mouth.

With your eyes.

With your ears.

Your brain reacts to the stimuli and it's flooded with dopamine.

The hippocampus lays down memories of this rapid sense of satisfaction

and the amygdala creates a conditioned response to the stimuli.

Just few seconds into your new drug of choice

and you already set for failure by your own brain.

The problem with cravings is that when you satisfy them

you act on the symptoms.

Not on the process.

And that means that the choice of stopping them

or luring them back is yours.

In the same way that you can't focus on your body

to know when you eat too much

You can't stop to buy things that you don't really need.

Although your cravings feel so satisfied

and you own so many shiny things

you don't really need

you are getting less and less healthy and more and more poor day by day.

You do keep saying:

" I can quit whenever I want"

Right now your body might feel happy.

At times.

But one day you will pay a price

for the willpower you didn't apply to your cravings.

So be wise.

Visualise who you want to be in the future.

Write it down.

And act on it!

Which is the first step in setting up your whole accounting system.

So, what if you don't set it up right? What's the problem?

Imagine you have a map that's just roads. Nothing is labeled. There's no

destinations, there's no cities landmarks, and you're driving along following this map

Taking turns hoping that you end up at the right destination

Well I like to set up the chart of accounts so that

the business can record all their transactions strategically and

use the reports it generates throughout the year to steer their business

into the right directions sometimes just a slight adjustment or change in your

procedures and business model

can give you a completely different end result.

Okay, well I think that's really important because it is all about making those little improvements to have a really good business.

So with that said, what is the function of a Chart of Accounts let's talk about that

A business needs to know where their money came from, where their money went, and how much money they still have on hand

your chart of accounts is that tool that structure mm-hmm where you can record everything and then report everything and

share

That data with your lenders

accountants

Okay great

With that said are we ready to get started? I think so. All right

Let's get started then on getting the start of account set up

We're using QuickBooks Online

today with this video

And the first thing we need to do on this sample company that we just set up is

To go into the accountant settings so if you click on the gear icon in the upper right corner mm-hmm click on account settings

We're going to go into the advanced settings and turn on or enable the account numbers

So if I click there we can just enable it and save it

The account numbers are used

for multiple reasons, mostly it's just to help organize it in the order you want your Chart of Accounts to look like

I use a five digit account number so

the

First two digits are used mostly for

What type of account whether it's an asset liability equity

Income account or an expense account okay, and then the third number

Can be used if you're trying to track things for different departments

or

divisions of your business and the last two can be used

for account specifics, and if you have Sub-Accounts, ok

Back in QuickBooks online

To find that chart of accounts you click on the side menu, you click on accounting

Which brings up the chart of accounts.

Now we enabled the account numbers

and they're not showing up, so the setting this little small gear icon over here brings up your settings, and

we can pick which columns we want to show ok, so I'm going to turn that column on

And...

We're going to go ahead and close this box. There's lots of popups in QuickBooks Online intended to help

You had already gone in the template

Chart of accounts has numerous accounts that we just want to remove as many accounts as we can mm-hmm

That won't be needed that way when we import. We don't get duplicates

so to delete an account you hit the drop down arrow and just click delete and

Then yes

There are a few accounts that are default for importing

Transactions that it won't allow you to delete on categorized assets is one of them

So we're gonna try to

get through some of these others quickly.

Undeposited funds is another one, so if you try to delete one you're not gonna break quickbooks. It won't let you if it

Is good to know that I cannot break the system.

It's very forgivable

After deleting we have the accounts that

Quickbooks won't let us delete okay

Now we're going to import the

template

chart of accounts so

this drop-down

By new which is to set up a new account, it will allows you to import

We have that loaded. It's on our desktop, yep there it is. Okay.

Go ahead open and we'll click the next

Then we route.

There already set up on the right format and our

Files so we can just hit next

It brings up all of the accounts that it's going to

Go ahead and import

So if there were any edits, you knew you were going to want or you

thought of an account that you didn't think you were ever going to use you could go ahead and

Not it bring it over. Okay, I

Don't

So that my way click import

It's showing us here that it imported 51 of the 52 accounts

It looks like the undeposited funds, which if you recall when we were deleting I attempted to delete that one, and it wouldn't let me

but

It didn't duplicate it. It just shows you that it didn't import that one

Okay, so we can go ahead and close out of this menu. Do we want to import it first?

Well that would import deposit funds. We don't. I see. It already did the others. Okay.

Want to leave without saving, Yes

So now our chart of accounts has grown. WooHoo! they are all there!

Then we have

Everything in here with the account numbers except for the

Accounts that were already listed

That didn't have an account, so we can go in and edit those and add an account number, okay

To edit one of them, say retained earnings

You can just hit the drop down arrow and click edit, go to the number field and put in

The right number

Now if we go back to equity

Here was opening balance equity is

an account that QuickBooks will use when you're

Initially importing transactions that there was an opening balance in a bank account. It will use that to offset initially. Okay

It's not an account. You'll have a balance and down the road, okay, so

It did not have that in the chart of accounts so you may

after you import all of a sudden have a duplicate so

Equity, which is the standard is the same number as opening balance equity?

So we can just change

By editing and clean, there's always just a little bit of cleanup, but not near as much time as when you

start from scratch

And then we can get rid of the asterisk that it added

And it added it because? You can only use each number one time. Okay

For the most part there isn't a lot. The uncategorized asset account, mm-hmm

It's set up for

when you import transactions if you don't classify an

Transaction it'll automatically put them in the uncategorized accounts

So, if you get something in those accounts you probably need to go in and edit the transaction anyway

so, you could just leave them unnumbered because they won't actually be used in your reports, and

should it have numbers like

3900, 3900, again, or 39,000, 39,000? No

did it?

I see them. Oh here? that's just how it's showing it

It doesn't actually have it anywhere, that's just so if we didn't show

If we didn't have this column

Then it still shows you the account number. Okay.

All right now that this file has imported, what do we do next?

We can go in and add any missing account numbers on the accounts that were already set up

Like undeposited funds I believe on our template

We have it numbered 12,000

And then save and close that

Some of the accounts like I'm categorized asset they are

In the chart of accounts as the default account that QuickBooks uses when you import

Transactions if you don't categorize something it'll go to one of the Uncategorized accounts. Okay, when you review your

Reports if you see something in them you probably need to edit the transaction and fix it anyway

So I might leave those unnumbered okay, just so they stand out a little more, right

This services income

Eventually, we can delete that once we have

sales items set up that lead to the

Income account we want to use, okay. So, for now I would just leave it. Okay

But the rest is good to go. The other edit that needs done though

is if any of the accounts should be a sub-account, and I think in our

Template we have professional services

Which is 65,000

and we want legal fees accounting fees and consulting fees to be sub-accounts of professional fees

You cannot import them as a sub-account, so this is

the time to go ahead and set that up, so

If you go ahead and hit the drop down arrow again and edit

If it's a sub-account

You just check it there, and then you put in your parent account which is professional fees

And then save and close

Now, in the Chart of Accounts any sub-accounts show up indented. That kind of helps you see your structure

So if we go ahead and edit this one

And then the last one

This feels like a really smooth easy process to me

Definitely saves time over setting them all up individually

Now if there were any accounts that you want to add that aren't

In our template that are unique for your business, if you want to add them in QuickBooks Online

At the top of the Chart of Accounts. There's this new, you just select new

Maybe you have

two different banks

So then we would want to set up another bank account

And then we would number it

So then you would have a second checking account listed

You could set up numerous if you had a checking a savings a money market as sub accounts of your bank accounts as well

Okay

The other

Customization that

We did in our desktop example was to set up sub accounts for each property since this is a real estate business

It's good to track your fixed assets

buy property. Right

So, before when we've talked about fixed assets you said we needed to set up sub accounts for those. It's helpful for your

organization down the road to see the value between

building and land and improvements

for each property okay, and then if you sell any properties you can just

Get a little more clarity

So, each property is distinct within dwelling land property improvements. Right. Okay.

We can set up additional accounts as sub accounts to each of them, okay, so we set up new

And those are fixed assets

And

Dwelling is our first one

So it'll be a sub-account of the dwelling account

And we'll call that

Property A

Okay some people will list

addresses or if it's a commercial building you might put the name of the building if it has. Okay that

that makes sense and

the account number will use

14,000 is your dwelling account

So this is where we'll use the last two digits to add the sub okay, and then we'll be consistent

throughout the chart of accounts that

this sub-account 10 is property A. Okay, and

Then instead of save and close, I'm gonna do save and new

And go in fixed assets

And for the land once again we want property A

The land is 16,000 so this would be 16,010

Sub-account land

It's nice you can just type in the letters to get there too. Right, you don't have to memorize the account numbers and

It would be nice if it would remember I'm doing all fixed assets right now, but

So then

Back under here under the property improvements

Which is the 17,000 they're going to have property A

Let's go ahead and close it, so we can see what we did

So now your chart of accounts should show

Property A under each of the fixed assets we can also

Track accumulated depreciation by property if you want, or you can just have a total

It depends if your goal is to hold on to your property for many many years

Then it might not be as important is showing it by property. It'll make if you're selling properties

It'll make it simpler if you've kept track of the accumulated depreciation for each property

Okay

Then we can also keep with each property

Usually is a mortgage so we can keep that consistency.

As we went back to the chart of accounts to see the results, we can see those sub-accounts. If we had multiple properties, we could

Just continue setting them up mm-hmm

Some people may want to go ahead and set up sub-accounts for accumulated depreciation

You also would be depreciating your furniture and equipment

so you'd have to have a unique sub-account under there, or I'll set up a second account just for

Accumulated depreciation of your furniture and equipment separate. Ok. This might be more of like office furniture new equipment, okay?

The other

accounts

That come along with a owning one property might be or most likely would be a mortgage. Most likely, yes

So we would go ahead now and set up a sub-account of real estate mortgages for that property, okay

And once again we'd follow the same pattern where property A was going to... Right, to have that same..., so in this instance

Though your mortgage is a liability, not a fixed asset, okay

And that is a long-term one. Unfortunately you that's usually the case

So here's our real estate mortgage account

Which gives me that account number.

So, I'm going to keep consistent and use 10 and just put property A up here again

Save and close that

Along with the mortgage there's often an escrow account where the lender pulls

funds to pay the property taxes and insurance

So, under the escrow account which we treat is a bank account because it has expenses payout of those funds, which are technically yours though

We should also set up the sub-account so you're tracking each escrow account on its own

You can reconcile them and keep them in balance. Okay.

So we're going to go ahead and set up a sub-account

Which is a checking account, a bank account.

Treated just like a checking for property A

And

We will keep the same last two digits for property A or 10

make it a sub-account of

Escrow

That works. Awesome!

So, any final words on setting up a chart of accounts?

Don't be afraid to customize your chart of accounts for your business. If one of the names

on an account doesn't make sense to you to go ahead and

customize it, so that it makes sense for your business

Because ultimately it is about you looking at those reports and making the most sense out of them.

Right, and the chart of accounts that you're using will help a profit and loss statement

Tell you the story of how you got to that bottom line. Okay.

Well this has been

Once again, incredibly helpful. Our previous videos have gone over very well, and I think this one will too

I will always remember

The day you kissed my lips

Light as a feather

And it went just like this

No, it's never been better

Than the summer of 2002

We were only eleven

But acting like grown-ups

Like we are in the present

Drinking from plastic cups

Singing "love is forever and ever"

Well, I guess that was true

Dancing on the hood in the middle of the woods

On an old Mustang, where we sang

Songs with all our childhood friends

And it went like this, say

Oops I got 99 problems singing bye, bye, bye

Hold up, if you wanna go and take a ride with me

Better hit me, baby, one more time

Paint a picture for you and me

On the days when we were young, uh

Singing at the top of both our lungs

Now we're under the covers

Fast forward to eighteen

We are more than lovers

Yeah, we are all we need

When we're holding each other

I'm taken back to 2002

Yeah

Dancing on the hood in the middle of the woods

On an old Mustang, where we sang

Songs with all our childhood friends

And it went like this, say

Oops I got 99 problems singing bye, bye, bye

Hold up, if you wanna go and take a ride with me

Better hit me, baby, one more time

Paint a picture for you and me

On the days when we were young, uh

Singing at the top of both our lungs

On the day we fell in love

On the day we fell in love

Dancing on the hood in the middle of the woods

On an old Mustang, where we sang

Songs with all our childhood friends

Oh, now

Oops I got 99 problems singing bye, bye, bye

Hold up, if you wanna go and take a ride with me

Better hit me, baby, one more time

Paint a picture for you and me

On the days when we were young, uh

Singing at the top of both our lungs

On the day we fell in love

On the day we fell in love

On the day we fell in love

On the day we fell in love, love, love

Linear Gains While Dieting - Summer Shredding Training Vlog - Duration: 15:29.

alright so in this video I'm gonna be taking you guys through a whole training

week so gonna be kind of like a video commentary vlog type of thing I'm gonna

be updating you guys on my list you know how I've been progressing changes that I

needed to make and pretty much just how the diets been going overall so without

further ado let's get into the video

alright guys I know it's been a little while since I've made videos kind of

this style so I'm pretty excited to share this one with you

but anyways get straight into the video so maybe you noticed there I have the

workouts listed before each day just to kind of give you guys you know a little

bit of an idea what it is that I'm doing anyway starting off you know Monday's as

usual squat phase 275 as you can see right here moving pretty well um it did

feel really heavy however i like squatting 275 specially buttless like

it's it's that a number that's gonna tell me pretty much how this watching

sessions are going to go but here you see 315 even pretty good low bars

feeling a lot better finally getting into the first working set here so 330

pounds we're gonna be doing six sets of - mmm last one honestly I think that I

might have done seven sets on accident it kind of lost fat so one thing I

recommend for you guys is trying to keep a log you know writing and/or using a

phone app so you guys can keep track of everything but here this is the last set

so you saw my first set then you saw this is my last set right here a lot

different um I was definitely a lot more fatigued and yep I mean I was able to

power through it I like recording a lot of my sets on

these squats not just because I like to see you know where I am with my form but

also because I I always feel like I'm gonna fail every set because it feels

very very heavy here bench on my Mondays I added in the bench on this day like

just doing a tiny single sometimes three signals just to kind of gauge like ah

I've been having a lot of issues with my bench press so I've I've just gotten rid

flat lunch program right now in a place that looks a bit but it won't touch on

that a bit later on but here moving on to conventional deadlift so

this is my accessory exercise for my squat day as you can see here we've

changed the progression scheme so we've dropped down from three sets of ten to

three sets of eight this is because the weights gotten a lot heavier and it's

just getting a lot harder to you know try to keep up

sima reps one increase in weight as you can see move pretty easily I'm all using

straps because it's just a lot easier in my grip especially right now cuz we're

I'm just always fatigued and I just I feel like I don't have any like I need

to minimize the amount of effort that I put into other things but here

curling for you guys it's a little boring to watch but this is a very big

achievement for me here I'm curling forty pound dumbbells and yeah just

making these gains I've never drove this much before it's funny because we've all

got old videos you guys would give me a lot of hates I'd be curling like 20s but

we're making progress it's just one of those things that's so hard to progress

linearly but you just got to be consistent even play around with the

reps games weights and yeah I know working out really well so far

here is the second base but normally I would do the fat flat bench press up in

this thing like I mentioned but having issues stove my elbows I feel like as

I'm doing the flat bench press my elbow is just like speaking English so it's

probably more of a formed issue than anything else but I know it's weird you

know I'm doing a dip instead the dip doesn't bother me so I'm just gonna be

doing other blagger bench variations and then just really focusing on progressing

on this day so I started with 30 pounds a little while ago or actually 25 pounds

and so I'm up to 40 right now and yeah so here's this here's the second set of

those from the front and they're feeling really good I'm excited to go for one

plate for the first time next week um the image is getting better and better

as I practice at you're now also I'll be putting a link in description below it's

Alberto years where he explains how he does his dips and since I've changed to

this style of performing the bit I don't feel any issues in my shoulders or

anything at all but here is the accessory exercise so I've actually had

to reset I think I made my way all the way to work 15 4 sets of 6 and I just

they helped so drop it back down reset and now I'm at 95 pounds for 3

sets of 8 I'm just going to continue to add and see how this goes

I'll probably make smaller increments as I get a little bit further along

especially you know more towards that 3 sets of 6

I almost already filmed this you like I mention you know I'm just I'm fatigued

guys like this whole week has just been me feeling exhausted all the time I'm

you know over training under recovery so I I think we need to do a deal oh yeah I

didn't do a deal over this week because after the refeed last weekend I felt

really really good so I decided to Tina what like let's just power through so

what we can do and I don't know I'm just feeling exhausted right here incline

dumbbell bench press I love this movement feels amazing 55 pounds here

just three sets of eight you know nothing too crazy so now we're going on

to the deadlift day so Dedalus went pretty well

um here is the warm-up set so it's 8:15 it's crazy to think that 315 is just you

know another warm-up set like this don't even need shock I don't need about and

so I always like to either one up with both conventional and sumo just to feel

it helps me warm up better and I can gauge more muscles because my poles are

always really really different they use the 365 warm up musically I just do a

single here but I don't know I wasn't too convinced with how that stood about

so I want to just pull the conventional anyways and these you'll see me here

house struggling a little bit I can lift more with sumo you know but my

conventional is not far off so here is its first set and then you'll see my

hips goofy up because I I stuck up for you okay it's

dumb you know I'm trying to post you know but I have a really hard time

engaging lift with my legs and that's always been my weakness now I'm a back

pulling and here's just a conventional set just for those I think this was like

my fourth set and you can see I mean it was alright but it wasn't too bad but

one thing to know you know I keep comparing these numbers and I'm hitting

today to like past numbers but I didn't realize this is the lowest that I've

weighed when I'm moving these legislature we're making really really

great progress here I was really trying to just focus on my form and I feel like

it was better I mean I'm really working on being patient on for trying to break

you know expertise like leg pressing it up but like I mentioned I'm back puller

need to address it need to strip the weight down and just work on that

technique it's not fun that I'm a it's something that I'm gonna need to do if I

want to increase my numbers but here front squats front squats have been

improving really well this is probably my least favorite exercise I get to

about rep for and I'm just like up I can't finish like I'm gonna get to six

you know I'm not gonna get to eight then I finally get to rep six and I'm just

like you know what stopping the baby they're just two more we can do this and

then here's just the sideways you can see you know I'm so flexible like I I

squat pretty much all the way down I mean I couldn't go even deeper as well

but I really try to widen my stance out a little bit just so I don't go in deep

but yeah front squats I hate this exercise but it feels really good and I

feel like I get a lot out of it here is my pump from the from that back

day I just wanted to update you guys on kinda you know what the physique looks

like with the pump and without I have a little flat stone you know I've been a

little bit now I'm meeting these mini carbs I've

been eating a lot more cops than I did the week before but still you know it's

not where I wanna be but new I move on to the overhead press day and you'll see

here I have some wrist wraps that I bought I'm also botany sleeves but they

were too small like they fit just right like very tight but I knew that if I you

know I'm not gonna make this wait forever we couldn't gain weight you know

what happens when a a leg pump so I just returned them but here you know I took

off the little thumb wrap thing from the straps because they were failing

interview my first set this fall a little bit better but then it almost

felt like I wasn't even wearing anything and then till last I said you know what

let's just take off the wrap see how it feels

you'll see that would be actually really really well so just a matter of learning

how to use the straps I found myself kind of writing the wraps

up so I'm so used to flexing my wrists back in order to get the weight up at

the top but anyways progressive on this overhead press its

prime and weakest lift but we're getting there making progress I haven't hit

these numbers in a really long time especially at this body weight but here

incline bench press does not bother my elbows at all I love this movement I

feel my chest working really really well and yeah it's just a really really great

movement especially forget targeting or that upper chest you know front delts

and yeah it's great I'm doing this movement a lot giving you guys two

different views right here and yeah I mean I feel like I'm making great

progress not punching you know just wring incline barbell or dumbbell doing

dips doing a variety of pull-ups again I'm getting enough you know stimulation

from all these for those things and I think that's gonna carry over to the

bench press you know to the future towards the end but I definitely need to

practice doing some flat bench as well you're doesn't bother my elbows that

lower weight so I'll probably find some way to incorporate that into the

programming soon lastly for this workout right here finishing off we're not

finishing off but the third main compound movement of the day is dips as

you can see here like they're moving really really well dips are feeling a

lot easier and they're just feeling really good they don't bother my elbows

they don't follow bother my shoulders

before when I would do dips I would get a pain like right here my sternum but

that's not the case anymore you know once I have been fucked weighted in you

this different way of doing dips which is pretty much that you retract so you

want to almost like shrug at the top or the first rod and then you want to bring

in your scapula to retract your scapula downwards and then did and Alberta

Matias explains it way better in this video which would be in the description

box below for you guys well here I was able to get intend on this last set so

quickly about 10 reps and last two sets eight on the first set I figured you

know what let's just progress on reps you know try to focus on technique and

form over anything else really in here so I've been doing crunches just on like

a decline that's pretty much and I mean I like it but I wanted to try to add

into some way that component so here's me trying to do standing cable crunch I

don't know if I'm coming it correctly and I don't even know how much weight I

use so this is just me good plan around something new trying to

figure this out that felt it from the majority of my core so that was really

good that's pretty much the end of the

workout here as promised here is the physique update as you can see I think

we we're kind of seeing some abs now I don't know I mean I'm I'm Wayne in my

lowest weigh-ins gonna be up on the screen right here believe it's like 174

just pretty nice as you can see just looking completely depleted it's the

physics gonna look a lot different towards the end guys like once I'm

carved up you know and with a pump like this transformation is just gonna look

insane but besides that I'm just looking really really small I feel like my legs

haven't gotten much leaner you guys might beg to differ

but I mean I'm seeing progress everywhere else which is really really

nice a lot more progress in my midsection this time around

and yeah just working on my posing I think my posing is increasingly is

improving a little bit to back has gotten a lot later this week I've

noticed that and here just another front pose you can kind of see the ABS a

little bit there I hope we thought that those lines were just like my rolls from

sitting down but maybe not anyways here is last I guess the end of that physique

update gonna put that picture right there for you guys because I'm I think

it looks pretty impressive for being completely depleted but that's that's

the video for you guys I know let me know what you guys thought up this video

did you enjoy this did you guys want to see more of the vlog type videos that

I've been posting in the past before we had these are the changes that I've had

to make you know I've hit stalls and some lifts had to repeat them and reset

I actually had to like extend my training week to speak so I was supposed

to Train Thursday Friday but Thursday was just I was dead I could not train on

that day I was supposed to deadlift so I just took an extra rest day pretty much

and I'm thinking of transitioning my workout days to Tuesday Wednesday or not

Wednesday Thursday Saturday Sunday that way I actually have something to do on

the weekends and then hopefully I'll eat a little bit less than weekends - I've

noticed that exercising kind of blends my hunger a little bit and also I just

won't be home all day and when I'm home all day I like to snack but that's the

video for you guys as far as where we're at weight wise I mean I really don't

care you know what the way on the scale is at the end of this you know weight

loss space it's really just about how we look but gauging the progress that we've

had like I told you guys know everything got kind of thrown off on my scale you

know got a little wonky and the numbers just changed but we're still seeing

progress I think we'll really gauge you know where we're at after this week and

then we'll decide you know what we need to change tour Macker so so far for the

macro so you know this week was between like 1750 to 2,000 calories a day

my fat was lower this week this week probably like

30 grams fat or a little bit less you know almost 200 M scarves are just

pretty nice and then like 180 200 grams of protein so the diets changed a lot

it's changed so much since the beginning so I'll definitely be showing you guys

full day of eating this week coming up but once again that's the video thank

you guys so much for watching and I will see you guys soon

you
