If you're like most people, you enjoy eating bananas as they are ripening.

As a result, you buy a week's supply of bananas when most of them are still slightly

green.

You eat them during the week as they ripen and turn all-yellow and are still spotless.

Toward the end of the week, as they start developing brown spots, which eventually cover

the entire banana, you throw them out because you think they are rotten and no longer of

any benefit to you.

After all, you would throw out other fruits that are overripe and less tasty.

Think again!

Research tells us that an increasing number of brown patches on a banana means not only

that it is riper, but also that it contains improved qualities to strengthen your immune

system.

Those qualities are contained in Tumor Necrosis Factor, or TNF, which is found in bananas.

It is a substance that fights cancer by helping to move body cells toward infected or inflamed

areas in our bodies.

As a result, those cells are destroyed, thereby preventing tumor cells from growing and from

spreading.

Combined with high levels of antioxidants, which bananas also contain, they help to boost

white blood cells and thereby strengthen our immune system.

It makes sense, therefore, to eat those bananas rather than toss them in the garbage.

Now I will show you, all the benefits of spotted bananas.

Number one.

They lower blood pressure.

The reason bananas can help to lower your blood pressure and to protect you against

stroke or heart attacks is that they are low in sodium and high in potassium.

This means that they are a heart-healthy food.

Number two.

A source of iron.

Anemia can be reduced through the intake of dietary iron, which is present in bananas.

It helps to encourage the production of red blood cells and hemoglobin, thereby strengthening

the blood that flows through your body.

Number three.

Provide great energy.

Should you be ready for a workout at the gym, or be taking exercise in another way, munching

on a banana or two before you start your workout session, will provide you with additional

energy, that lasts for an hour or two, plenty of time to complete your session.

Your body's endurance is increased by the low glycemic carbohydrates, as well as the

minerals and vitamins that are found in bananas.

In addition, the potassium found in bananas helps to guard against cramps in your muscles.

Number four.

Safe on the stomach.

People who suffer from ulcers are often advised to avoid certain foods.

The reason is that, even though those foods might be nutritious, they can cause pain and

even damage to the ulcers.

Bananas, however, can be safely eaten by those suffering from stomach ulcers as they are

soft and smooth.

If anything, the pulpy texture of a banana protects the stomach lining from acids and

other forms of irritation.

Number five.

Helps to overcome depression.

The reason that bananas can help to overcome depression is that, they contain high levels

of tryptophan, which is changed into serotonin in our bodies.

Serotonin makes you happier, more relaxed and generally improves your mood.

Number six.

Calm the nervous system.

Many things can cause you to become stressed or moody from time to time.

Consider eating a few bananas.

They can regulate blood sugar and contain B vitamins, which help naturally to soothe

the nervous system.

The result is an improvement in your mood.

Number seven.

Control body temperature.

When the weather is hot you might want to remember that eating a banana can lower your

body temperature.

It is also true that bananas will lower your body's temperature when it is heated up

as a result of some type of fever.

Maven shows how a company that makes cars can also share them - Duration: 8:07.

Car companies now do more than just sell cars.

General Motors' Maven division takes on the likes of Zipcar with car-sharing services

using GM vehicles, and even rents cars to Uber and Lyft drivers through its Maven Gig

program.

So, what's it like for an automaker to go from selling cars to renting them?

New York City is one of the least convenient cities in the United States for car owners,

and it was also one of the first cities where GM experimented with car sharing.

Digital Trends sat down with Brent Taylor, Maven general manager for New York, to discuss

what GM has learned about car sharing so far, and how it's preparing for the future.DT:

How long has Maven been operating in New York?

Brent Taylor: We launched Maven New York City in May of 2017.

We started out the morning of May 15.

We had 600 members under a pilot program we'd run the year before in conjunction with a

property developer here, just offering exclusive vehicles to their clients.

It was Stonehenge [Partners]; we still work with them quite extensively.

Today, through mostly organic growth, we have 15,500 customers in New York City, who have

logged over 850,000 miles—just in New York.

What mix of cars do you have in the fleet right now, and what would you say is the most

popular car in New York City?

A little bit of everything.

We focused, on the launch, between the Chevrolet and Cadillac lines as a way of introducing

Maven to our customers without giving so much to overwhelm [them].

You either had a very reliable utility vehicle or a luxury vehicle.

The most popular vehicle is the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback.

People love that little car.

With the nuance in New York City, we had to think about these things going down Brooklyn

streets.

They all had to have a robust suspension system in them.

There's a reason cop cars are Impalas!

So we did a range of basically a sampling from the Chevy Cruze all the way up to the

Cadillac Escalade, and just about an inkling of everything in between: small SUVs, [Chevy]

Traxes, Equinoxes, and lots of [Cadillac] XT5s.

The most popular vehicle, the workhorse of the fleet, is the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback.

People love that little car.

Do you see much transitioning, where people who try out a GM vehicle through Maven end

up buying from GM.

Is there any coordination between Maven and sales departments to try to make that happen?

Really, GM is more experimenting with the future landscape of mobility.

We hope we touch the cross section.

We don't have a master plan to convert customers into purchasing.

It's a way to serve that interim need.

Maven app GM

With the free membership to Maven, downloading the app, that's the big ROI [return on investment].

Whether you need it or not, it's free to have it.

There's no ROI on, hey, if it was $80 bucks to sign up, "am I going to use it twice

this year?

I don't think I'm going mess with it."

That's the great thing.

Or, if you saw something, somebody like you comes to a car show and you see the new Tahoe

and you want to give that a spin, you know, there's four of them in Manhattan right

now.

So, [you can] take it out for an hour and see if you like it.

Would you say that customers use cars for shorter trips or that they go on longer excursions

out to, the suburbs, or out to the country?

What do you think is the more average use case?

During the week, we're going to Costco, we're going to Ikea.

We're going to places where it's really hard to navigate once you have what you need.

Going to stock up on things.

"Maven globally focuses on a younger demographic who may not be interested in buying a car

straight of college, or out of high school, even.

But [for] Maven New York City, all bets are off."

Maven globally focuses on a younger demographic who may not be interested in buying a car

straight of college, or out of high school, even.

But [for] Maven New York City, all bets are off.

You can be 21 or you can be 61 and not own a car, because it's extremely prohibitive.

We find during the summer, yeah, they go Upstate, they go out to Long Island, people go to Jersey

to visit their families, and hit the Shore in New Jersey as well.

But on the day-to-day trips, we're going to the airport, we're going to the Ikea,

we're filling that utility need.

Looking at data and feedback from users, what changes would you make to future GM production

vehicles to make them more suited to car sharing?

That's really a fundamental goal of Maven, is capturing that data.

We haven't crossed all of the Ts on that just yet.

When you're talking about GM and the zero, zero, zero plan [GM's goal of zero crashes,

zero emissions, and zero congestion], how do you put that into an electric chassis?

mavens brent taylor talks new york city car sharing general motors maven reserve

mavens brent taylor talks new york city car sharing general motors gm launches personal

mobility brand maven mavens brent taylor talks new york city car

sharing general motors certain maven stations in provide valet assistance

mavens brent taylor talks new york city car sharing general motors maven is collaborating

with cities and municipalities to e A lot of people with electric cars are just

terrified with this range anxiety that they have, because they have this one trip they're

going to take that's 400 miles, which rarely happens.

And then, you know, educating the consumer on that.

And then finding out how long is the average trip, how long should the average charge take

place.

That is really going mold how GM builds a better product for the consumer.

Will Maven be involved in GM's rollout of self-driving cars?

Are you coordinating with Cruise Automation [GM's autonomous-driving division] on that,

or is that just a separate thing?

Cruise is doing their own thing, and speed to them, we're hoping, but no, no plans

right now.

Nothing they're telling little guys like me about.

What about public transit?

How does Maven interact with it?

Do you think Maven complements public transit, or competes with it?

I think we're filling a mobility need, with a city-to-station-based program, which is

not filled by public transportation.

Given that the vehicles are in a round-trip scenario—they're not one-way—we don't

feel that we're [competing].

We don't want to contribute to the problem, especially in New York.

So, the fact that you're bringing it back to the same station means you're not just

dumping it somewhere and making it that neighborhood's problem.

As a New Yorker, I wish there was an efficient public way to get to LaGuardia Airport, but

there isn't.

This is one of those niches that Maven really fills.

And outside of New York in our Maven Gig program, where we're offering these cars to ride-share

drivers, we think that's very complimentary.

When you start talking about multi-pooled trips from ride-share drivers, I think this

is the future of efficiency, with that mode of mobility.

The Difference Between Pork Loin and Pork Tenderloin ~ Butcher Block Basics ~ Noreen's Kitchen - Duration: 6:32.

Hi everyone welcome back to my kitchen today, we're going to go over the difference between a pork loin and a pork tenderloin

Because I think some of you might be a little bit confused, and they are completely different

So let's go see what these are all about

I

Do want to say this video is sponsored by go wise

The maker of the pressure cooker that I'm going to feature today in this video

It's come to my attention that there are a lot of you out there when I make a pork tenderloin

You you think that it's something that it isn't and so I felt like it might be a great idea to go over the difference

Between what I call a pork tenderloin, which is this over here and a pork loin roast?

so

the people at the pork Council

Have a lovely diagram, and they both come from the same place

this pork tenderloin

Actually comes from underneath this pork loin on

The the pig so it's the the loin comes from the back of the pig the upper back

toward the rear

It's it's along the backbone yes

Exactly like when you get a chicken breast and you have that little chicken tender underneath it

That's this a similar

Situation here a pork loin when it's whole is between

7 and 10 pounds I buy them whole they come in a cryovac package and

This is one half of

an eight almost nine pound

pork loin roast

I'm gonna be using this in a pressure cooker recipe today

But I thought while I was in my freezer

I'm gonna go ahead and take a pork tenderloin out this comes in a long cryovac package as well

Usually it comes with two pieces, so this is two pork tenderloins, so

If you look at this loin this would have been you can see this would have been the place here

Where would be up against the back this tenderloin?

Obviously this isn't coming from the same

Animal, but on the animal the Tenderloin would be directly underneath the loin

And then they package these separately they are both very lean

They're both as lean as a chicken breast

They're both very very versatile

This cut I'm gonna be using in a in a green chili stew, so I'm gonna cut it up

I'm gonna take most of the fat off of it, and then I'm gonna make it into cubes, but you can easily

Roast this and generally this is what I make like for New Year's Day. I'll pop this in the oven

I'll season it up and I will roast it 20 minutes per pound and

Boom you have a beautiful pork roast you can also cook this in a slow cooker a very similar way

and you will have a delicious pork roast you can roast this and

Shred it, but you do have to roast it a long time

I don't really recommend this cut of meat

For pulled pork because it just doesn't have enough fat in it it also doesn't have enough connective tissue in it

for it to break down and

shred beautifully and have that anxiousness

pork tenderloin

I love to use on a weeknight for a quick roast meal

Because this cooks very quickly I can season this up any way I want with a rub I can both barbecue sauce I can put

poison sauce and make an Asian Flair I can put

apricot jam and chipotle peppers on this I can make any

Ethnic flavor that I want on a pork tenderloin pop it in the oven on this pan for half an hour and dinner is done

You want to make sure that you cook your pork to?

160 degrees and then give it about 20 minutes to rest because your will have carryover cooking up to

165 it is perfectly acceptable

For your pork to be very so slightly pink in the center because we have much cleaner

Farming practices now and the meat is not really going to be susceptible to trichinosis

Because we don't feed the pigs trash any longer so that is the difference between a pork loin roast and a pork tenderloin

The other thing I wanted to mention was on the pork loin

You don't have to just cut it into roast you can butterfly this inch pork chops

Really beautiful boneless pork chops as thin you can cut them super thin so that they're easy to pan fry quick

you can cut them thick and butterfly them, so they're really large these pieces of me are super versatile and

Really, the only thing limiting you in their preparation is your imagination and almost every ethnicity

Uses pork in its in its cuisine

There are some that do not for religious purposes, but pork is a really versatile meat

It's very affordable for instance where I live I can pick up this package of pork tenderloin for

Less than six dollars a lot of times I can get them buy one get one free

for a package of two and the pork loin roast I

Can usually get for a dollar twenty nine to a dollar sixty-nine a pound and that's when I buy two or three?

Whole Moines and I'll usually cut them in three this one. I cut in half

I think because I thought maybe I would go ahead and cut it into some chops

And I cut it in half so I could have a larger roast for New Year's Day

But in any case that's the difference. I hope this was helpful information

I hope you learned something and I hope it kind of clears up that mystery about

the difference between a pork loin and a pork tenderloin

So I hope you move forward in life use the information. I hope you love it and until next time. I'll see ya
