Waching daily Apr 24 2018

Regardless of whether you are a conservative or liberal,

you would agree that it is hard to find politicians who have a genuine concern for people

With that in mind, you only think about

who can better serve your self-interest and vote for that person. However,

what I suggest is a different perspective. Rather than seeking your self-interest only,

take a Hongik perspective which strives to bring the greatest benefit to all people

With this approach, you are bound to recognize the right candidate and the right political party.

In this regard, we could learn from Bhutan's experiment

Their level of happiness is high because they are always mindful of the public interest.

Basically, politics is public service and thus its job is done only when the customer is satisfied.

The goal of any service is customer satisfaction. For example,

when a repairman comes to your home to fix something,

you evaluate the service on a scale of 'very satisfied' to 'very dissatisfied.'

Then, what would it look like if we were to rate our politics?

Would it be 'very satisfied' or 'average?'

There must be someone who is dissatisfied but afraid that dissidents might take over,

so he puts down 'very satisfied.' On the other hand,

there is probably someone who is slightly satisfied but believes that

"this government must be overthrown," so he puts down, 'very dissatisfied' no matter what.

I am saying that this kind of situation itself is not good. If we continue to live this way,

our national happiness index will keep on falling. No matter whom you vote for,

you are bound to be unhappy. In fact, you become attached to the candidates

because you are unhappy. Because it, you hope, "if I vote for this guy, he could save me."

Despite the fact that you are repeatedly betrayed, you are convinced that,

"I can't vote for the opposite party." So you make the same mistake again and again.

Such mentality implies that you are diffident and displeased.

Unfortunately, there are politicians who take advantage of that,

leaving you caught between a rock and a hard place.

If you were a Bodhisattva, would you enjoy living under such circumstances?

You need to break the box and come out of it. Take a look with a broader perspective.

Why do we practice Zen? We do Zen meditation to break free from duality.

You need to be able to remain undisturbed even when faced with a dualistic life-or-death threat.

Wouldn't you agree that if you possess the spirit of Zen

you should be able to stay nonchalant even when someone points a gun at you?

You have to transcend life and death. Without this perspective,

you cannot resolve any issue of this physical world. Not even a single one.

Your past experience(commonly known as Karma) clouds your judgment completely.

You justify your actions by saying, "I've always done things this way.

Based on my past experience, pro-communists are evil and pro-Japanese are traitors,

and thus should be penalized, etc.etc.." Don't be led by the past karma

even though there's some truth to all your arguments. What's at stake

is whether they can truly be considered pro-communists and pro-Japanese traitors

at this point in time when seen with the eyes of conscience. We need to reflect

whether or not we are being unconsciously led by our karma

when judging others in such a blinded manner. Such an opinion will never be accepted

under the law of the Universe. It is merely your opinion

which the Universe does not agree with. It has nothing to do with the law of cause and effect.

If the law of cause and effect were to obey your command

then good luck would come your way just by asking, "Give me blessing for my hard work,"

even though you've led a messy life. The law of cause and effect doesn't work that way.

The Universe would say, "All your hard work was a waste. You know why?

It's because I cannot give you credit for efforts that clash with conscience."

The Universe is forthright. You may plead,

"But I spent the last ten years preparing for this exam. You have to pass me.

The Universe will respond, "I have never seen you study, not once!"

The Universe takes a firm stand. Your fervent insistence won't convince the Universe.

You need to understand the standard law of the Universe. If our action is in accordance

with the Six Virtues(Six Paramitas), the Universe validates it.

Otherwise, the Universe does not see it as goodness. If you haven't figured this out,

your true learning hasn't started yet. We need to vigilantly

apply the Six Virtues first to ourselves, then to our families, politicians, and the society at large.

Then we can resolve the current issues of our nation. Is your family managed by the Six Virtues?

Try to make assessment of your family. Don't be concerned too much about

the national happiness index, but try to measure your family happiness index.

Are your family members happy? Right now? Isn't it something that you should be responsible for?

Beside the fact that politicians should take care of national issues,

shouldn't we as each citizen take responsibility for our own family individually?

Just think about what you're doing or planning to do that is in accordance

with the Six Virtues in order to improve your family happiness index.

Those who are confident in managing their families would be good at taking care of the citizens

if they were to become politicians later. If someone cannot even manage

his own family by the Six Virtues, he is likely to make trouble outside. Why is that?

It's because he is basically unskillful at applying the Six Virtues in managing his life.

(family happiness index and the Six Virtues) I hope this makes sense to you.

Pryor Baird, 'The Voice': 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

The top 12 has been decided, and Orcutt native Pryor Baird is one of the singers who made the cut this season on The Voice.

This week, there will be no voting through Twitter, and like the rest of the contestants, Baird is hungry to continue in the competition.

Interested in learning more about him? Read on.

All the Coaches Turned Their Chairs for Him.

When Baird, 35, took to the stage on the second night of blind auditions, he got all four judges to turn their chairs.

Adam Levine was first to make the turn, followed closely by Blake and Alicia.

Kelly turned her chair last.

Blake and Adam jumped to their feet for Baird's performance, clearly fans of his sound.

The California native sang John Mayer's "I Don't Need No Doctor".

Blake told him, "You're an incredible vocalist.

It sounds like you smoked a pack of cigarettes and drank a bottle of whiskey right before you got onstage, man… I did that stuff for years in order to try to sound like you and I still didn't get there.

You were born with that weathered sound.

That's what makes you rare.

That's what separates you from the rest of the pack.

That's why you've got to pick me as your coach.

I need you on my team.".

Alicia added, "You have such a range.

I definitely feel I'm the only one that can sing somewhere in the vicinity that you just sang, so that we can actually have similar spaces to create from.".

He Studied Fruit Science in College.

Baird was studying fruit science in college but dropped out so he could focus on his music.

According to Business to Community, the singer grew up with no amenities like heat or electricity.

He passed the time listening to music and singing in blues bands.

In the words of Business 2 Community, "Paying the bills took precedent over music, but Pryor still tries to make time to perform.

Pryor is excited to be here at 'The Voice' to keep chasing his music dreams.".

There Are Billboards of Him in His Hometown.

Speaking to KSBY.com recently, Baird said, "There are giant billboards all over my hometown, next to the freeway… They're in every single restaurant, bar, grocery store and banks.

I mean, it's wild. It's amazing.".

Why did Baird ultimately go with Blake? He tells KSBY, "I just chose him because he's a normal guy.

I have the most in common with him than I do with anybody else.

We kind of grew up doing the same kind of thing, living the same kind of life, and he's just a regular guy.

Not to mention that he's won six times.".

His Family Says They Knew He Was Talented When He Was Just a Young Boy.

Baird's family has been aware of his musical talents for years.

Pryor's father, Gene, tells KSBY, "When he came back at 4-and-a-half and played the little guitar, we thought, 'There's something.

He's got something," Gene said.

A good friend, Joseph Borjas, added, "I can remember vividly our 6th-grade talent show at May Grisham Elementary School here in Orcutt when he played 'Johnny Be Good.

" Borjas confidently adds, "I think he can absolutely win this thing.

He Is Raising Money for the Wounded Warrior Project & Keeping the Blues Alive.

Pryor is using his newfound fame to help those around him.

He has sold merchandise that reads, "I Love Pryor Baird", with proceeds going to Keeping the Blues Alive, which supports music education in schools, and the Wounded Warrior Project for disabled veterans.

According to their website, Keeping the Blues Alive "The mission of Keeping The Blues Alive Foundation, Inc.

is to offset the loss of music education programs by providing financial assistance to scholastic institutions and individuals who aspire to be innovators and torchbearers for music advocacy and education.".

WWP, meanwhile, is a non-profit organization that helps veterans and active duty service members.

10 The Swords of Ditto Tips & Tricks You Need to Know | Heavy.com || CACAO TV - Duration: 6:44.

10 The Swords of Ditto Tips & Tricks You Need to Know | Heavy.com

For fans of top-down action RPG's such as The Legend of Zelda, The Swords of Ditto should be right up your alley (or dungeon).

As a diminutive hero/heroine, you'll wield a powerful weapon and brave the dangers of a beautifully animated world.

You can also bring a buddy along as you bring the fight to the evil overlord Mormo.

Exploring dungeons, discovering new villages, and nabbing loot makes up the majority of fun tasks that encompasses your adventure.

The Swords of Ditto presents all manners of action RPG challenges that you'll need to conquer.

This helpful guide will be just the thing you need to help you defeat Mormo for good.

Here are the top 10 tips, tricks, and cheats you need to know for The Swords of Ditto.

The Sword is the Real Hero.

• The titular sword of Ditto wielded by each era's hero is the real star of the show in The Swords of Ditto.

Players build up experience for the sword, leveling it up during each run, and even after their hero falls the sword carries on to the next hero, offering persistence over the course of the story.

Countdown to Mormo.

• The citizens of Ditto aren't super patient and neither is the evil Mormo, so heroes initially have a time limit to lift the curse before being forced to face off with the dreaded witch.

However, heroes can collect Celestial Tokens from chests and quests to help alleviate the time pressure so keep an eye out for them on your adventures.

Hug Your Cooperative Buddies.

• The Swords of Ditto has a charming local cooperative mode and players of all skill levels can play together.

If one player falls to Mormo's hordes of relentless menacing beasts, their trusty ally can trot on over to revive them with a lovely hug!.

Stop and Smell The Roses.

• The countdown to fighting Mormo is halted whenever you are in a dungeon or a town, so take advantage of some downtime to explore every inch of dungeons, caves, and towns to score loot and level up the sword.

Explore for More.

• Don't just go straight to the main dungeons.

Explore the caves, hole, wells and whatever else you find around.

You'll power up the sword and find new toys and gadgets to help you along the way!.

Helpful but Hidden Characters.

• The island of Ditto hides a charming cast of characters amongst its landscape.

Seek them out to use their services and talents to further your quest and improve your chances of success.

Stickers for Heroes & Friends.

• Stickers are a great way to increase your skills and powers with special tricks and abilities.

Some of the island's inhabitants are keen sticker collectors, too.

Make their acquaintance and see if they'd be up to swap something from their collection with you!.

Stickers for Cash.

• The more intrepid explorers will find themselves with more stickers than places to put them, so trade in your excess for cash to buy useful items or upgrade your toys.

This is a great way to stash up on health items or potentially reunite with a favorite weapon from your last run by browsing the toy shop.

Train at the Dojo.

• The Dojo is a great chance to test your endurance by clearing its labyrinth of monster-infested rooms, especially if you manage to fight your way to the chamber's very depths.

Though it's tough to clear, this facility is a great way to get more loot and become more powerful in a short space of time.

Bombs in Your Pocket.

• Nothing marks a good adventure quite like some trailblazing.

It always pays to stock up on bombs in particular, as some clever detonations will help you find various things around Ditto that can only be accessed through a good ol' explosion.
