hey everyone welcome to Wednesday's with crystal on crystal Sparks I'm so glad
that you are watching whether you found this through a Google search a friend

glad to spend this time with you hey if you'll take a moment if you

every week on Wednesday I put out a new video and my channels purpose is this is
to help grow your faith and to help equip you to accomplish your dreams and
your goals today we're gonna be talking about the Book of Ruth I don't know how
many of you guys have a Facebook account out there but I have a facebook and
because I've had it for quite some time there's this thing called time hop right
and you're able to see what you are doing on that day several years ago and
again because I've had it for quite a long time it kind of catalogues like the
last 10 years of my life so it's really sweet to see the places we've been
remember the memories of my kids and different things that have gone on but
the other day I was sitting on a flight headed overseas and actually as I'm
recording this right now I'm sitting in Germany and so I was sitting on the
flight waiting to take off from America to Paris and when I pulled up my phone
on the time hop it was me from nine years ago and I had posted on my status
that I felt so accomplished I had just gotten all the laundry done and the
house was clean you know I think about that and nine years ago I was just being
faithful with what God had put in my hand I had no idea all that God was
gonna do nine years ago my babies are just little tiny and and my biggest
overwhelming decision to make was what to make for dinner that night right and
I was just being faithful with what God had put it in my hand I had no idea that
nine years later I would read that status sitting on a plane headed
overseas to see God do amazing things I had no idea that I'd plant a church with
my husband and we'd be getting ready to start our second campus I had no idea
that in that church that we planted that my kids would be serving they'd be
active in the local youth groups I had no idea all that God was gonna do in
those nine short years and I just read the Book of Ruth and you can't help but
think that same thing when you read through the pages you know if you're not
familiar with the birth book of Ruth it starts out really heavy you know here
Naomi is and she just lost both of her sons she is completely heartbroken she
sets out on a journey and both of her daughter-in-laws go with her and she
looks at them and she's honest she tells Orpha and she tells Ruth listen I have
nothing for you there is no promises this journey is gonna be tough it's
gonna be difficult if I was you I probably just turned back Orpha finding
out how difficult it's gonna be says I'll take that rain check I'm out but I
love Ruth and she decides to stay and not only does she decide to stay but the
Bible tells us that Naomi then decides to change her name from Naomi to bitter
oh my goodness like that's bad right she's going through a really hard time
but time and time again when you read through the Book of Ruth you'll find
this Ruth is just faithful in whatever place God puts her wherever it is no
matter what it is that she's doing if it's honoring her mother-in-law she's
doing it well if she's there gleaning in the field she's just doing it well if
she's there and Boaz's house she's just doing it well every time we see a
glimpse of Naomi's life even she's like in this bitter place she's complaining
she's critical and yet here Ruth is she's choosing to take the high road
she's choosing to keep her heart pure she's choosing to trust God no matter
what and I just want to tell you that the Bible tells us in Hebrews 6:12 that
we obtain the promises of God through faith and patience and in fact it's
never gonna be easy the same way that Naomi looked at orphan and Ruth and told
him hey listen it's not gonna be easy there's gonna be some challenges Jesus
looked at the disciples and said basically the same thing he said guys
unless you willing to take up your cross and follow
me you're not worthy of any of the promises and friend let me just tell you
an in this journey we have big dreams and we have big girls and I think
there's nothing wrong with that like we should all be believing God for bigger
things but if you think you're gonna get through there easily it's not gonna
happen my son recently we were doing some yard work out at our house and we
have copious amounts of treats like ridiculous amounts of trees and so we
were out there and pulling the weeds out of the flower beds and getting the last
leaves that were left over from the winter out and I made a deal with him
that for every bag of leaves that he bagged up he would get $3 well that was
a pretty good deal right I mean for 11 years old $3 per bag of leaves like
that's pretty awesome but Baron cut just a few bags in and you
realize this is a whole lot more work than he signed up for he was thirty
minutes in and he said mom I feel like we've been out here for two hours and I
was like bear it hasn't been two hours it's been 30 minutes and he's like no
way and I was like yes it's only been 30 minutes so time went on and he had
gotten to five bags of leaves and he had a goal of getting seven bags of leaves
and he was on bag five and he looked at me and he said mom you know what it's
just not worth it I just don't think that it's even worth it and I said baby
just keep staying the course like you just got to keep going because part of
our original agreement was if he didn't stay until the very end he wouldn't get
any of the money that was due him and out there at bag five when things were
tough it was difficult it got hot and the will
to do it was way gone at that point the prize no longer before him he said mom I
just don't think it's worth it and I said if you go inside you're gonna lose
it all and he said that's okay and he went inside I've thought about in that
moment this is what we do with the promises of God every single day we get
down the road and man in that moment when God speaks to us in a church
service or maybe you're watching this video right now and you think oh my gosh
like I can do anything but what happens when you believe God
for a few weeks what is your faith that when you flew
believe him for a few years where's your faith that see I think a
lot of times if we'll just be real honest we're kind of like bear
we start out enthusiastic we have the goal we're excited but when it's harder
than what we had planned for when it's taking longer than what we expected we
look at the pies and we just say I don't know that it's worth it anymore
bear went inside and a few hours later we finished up and no time at all and he
came out later and said mom I feel so bad that I forfeited that if I just
would have kept doing it I could have bought the game that I wanted he was
working for a game and I think about that how many of you if you look back at
the goal that you set six years ago if you would have stayed the course if you
would have looked at the goal that you set nine years ago and you would have
stayed the course see the truth is the way I did the laundry and the way I
cleaned my house set me up to be on the plane that day and the way that you're
doing what you're what's in your life right now whatever it is that God has in
your hand is going to determine what God brings later it's going to determine
what your time hub will say nine years from now see when we read The Book of
Ruth it doesn't happen by accident in the last chapter where she's holding
this baby this fulfillment of God's promise of a second chance it doesn't
happen by chance or by accident it happens because she chose to stay the
course even when things were hard even when she could have taken the easy way
she chose to Duke what God had put in her heart no matter what and that is why
Hebrews 6:12 was able to say it's through faith and patience friend
believing isn't enough it's having the patience to endure whatever it takes to
get there and I promise you this one day you'll be just like me you'll pull up
your time hump and you'll look back nine years ago on this day watching this
video when you made up your mind that you're gonna do whatever it takes and
you'll sit there and go man I'm so glad that I was faithful with what I had back
then so I can have what I have today friend I believe in you I love you so
