American Carla Stefaniak is Missing in Costa Rica: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com - Duration: 11:17.

American Carla Stefaniak is Missing in Costa Rica: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

American Carla Stefaniak was visiting Costa Rica for her birthday with her sister-in-law April Antonieta.

Antonieta flew out of Costa Rica on Nov.

Stefaniak was supposed to fly out the next day, Thursday, Nov.

She was not on her flight and has been reported missing in the Central American country.

Stefaniak, who goes by Carla Margarita on Facebook and Instagram, drove Antonieta to the airport in San Jose, the Costa Rican capital.

There she returned her rental car and caught an Uber.

After a tour of the city, she was dropped off at her Airbnb.

She spoke to Antonieta by phone and said it was raining hard and the lights had gone out in the house.

That was the last Antonieta heard from her sister-in-law and "best friend.

Here's what you need to know:.

Stefaniak Was Last Heard From as Power Went Out in Her Airbnb-Rented Villa.

She Described the Location as 'Pretty Sketchy.'.

   .

"I wish I never had to write this but my close friend and sister-in-law Carla Stefaniak (@Carla Margarita) just disappeared in Costa Rica.

She took an @Uber around 1:00 p.m.

from Thrifty car rental to her Airbnb.

The Uber driver waited for her for approximately 50 minutes before taking her for a tour around San Jose," Antonieta wrote.

Stefaniak arrived at the rental house between 4 and 5 p.m.

on Wednesday, Nov. 27.

"Last time we heard from her was on 11/27 around 8 pm when she said it was raining crazy and the power went out.

She continued with "It's pretty sketchy here".

She was staying at a villa she found on @airbnb.

She had a flight next day (11/28) at 1:30 pm, but she never showed up.

She has shown no sign of online presence since 11/27 at 8pm.

US Embassy in Costa Rica and FBI is already alerted," Antonieta wrote.

She said a missing person case was opened and U.S.

authorities are working with local authorities in San Jose.

"Words cannot express how shocking and devastating this is to her family and her friends.

If anyone can help us with this situation, it will be highly appreciated.".

Stefaniak Went to Costa Rica to Celebrate Her Birthday.

Very-Well Traveled, She's Visited Myriad Locales of Late Including NYC, Lake Tahoe, Spain & Cuba.

   .

Stefaniak, who described herself on IG as a model, travel aficionado, photographer and fashion blogger, posted this image to Instagram on Nov.

She was traveling alone.

But from her social, it appears she was very well-traveled and, her sister-in-law would be joining her.

The following day, on Nov.

23, she posted an image declaring she would be a "future resident of Costa Rica." She visited Manual Antonio National Park.

   . On Nov.

26, Stefaniak posted another image to Instagram where she lamented that she would miss the country when she had to leave.

   .

"Carlita, praying for you and your safe return.

home to your loved ones! May God bless you and watch over you," a person commented on the image.

It's reported she stayed at Villa Buena Vista, Calle Hoja Blanca, San Antonio de Escazú in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Airbnb says the listing is "no longer available." There are many images of the location easily found online however.

It appears that the resort of villas was once an "aftercare facility." It was previously called Villa Le Mas.

It was poorly reviewed on TripAdvisor several years ago.

The now-deleted Airbnb listing has the host as a man named Raymond.

Authorities in Costa Rica Have Issued Missing Person Alerts & Posted on Social Media.

The Costa Rica News reported "Stefaniak was traveling alone in the country.

" She was joined by her sister-in-law, however.

The paper reported that Stefaniak "…arrived November 22 and apparently visited the Manuel Antonio National Park and on the last days of her vacation she was staying at an AirBnB in San Antonio, Escazú.

It was reported in Costa Rica that her family also filed a missing person report with the "Judiciary Investigative Police (OIJ) in Costa Rica the entity officially made the announcement of her disappearance today, any information regarding Carla Stefaniak can be given by calling the confidential line 800-800-0645 or through Whatsapp at 8800-0645.

However, the U.S.

Embassy in San Jose has not posted the disappearance of Stefaniak on its website or Twitter or Facebook.

Antoneita Created a GoFundMe to Help Pay For Carla's Family's Search in Costa Rica.

     .

April, of Riverview, Florida, created a GoFundMe page so Stefaniak's family could travel to the country in search of her.

Stefaniak is reported to be from Tampa, Florida.

On her social media pages, she says she lives in Miami and is Venezuelan-American.

A number of people have suggested the family check out sites like the Missing Americans Project.

"Families of Americans who disappear in foreign countries should not have to invent the wheel.

Unfortunately, this is what too often happens: people in deep distress have to learn how to run an international search and rescue operation, raise funds, cultivate relationships with nongovernmental organizations, and work with the media — all within hours of learning their loved one is missing.

The absence of clear standard operating procedures within and among U.S.

embassies and a lack of State Department support leads to an unconscionable waste of time when time is of the essence.".

For Her Birthday, Stefaniak Asked Friends to Donate to St.

Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Rather than receive gifts, Stefaniak asked her friends to consider donating money for a children's hospital.

"For my birthday this year, I'm asking for donations to St.

Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I've chosen this nonprofit because their mission means a lot to me, and I hope you'll consider contributing as a way to celebrate with me.

Every little bit will help me reach my goal.".

David Stringer: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com - Duration: 13:19.

David Stringer: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

David Stringer, a Republican Arizona state lawmaker, is under fire for saying that black people "don't blend in" and was previously accused of making racist comments about African-Americans.

Stringer said in audio obtained by The Phoenix New Times that early European immigrants from places like Ireland and Italy eventually "looked the same" and "talked the same" but said that African-Americans and other racial groups "don't blend in.

They always look different.".

"Maybe it doesn't" matter, he said, but "it seems to matter to a lot of people.

Here's what you need to know:.

David Stringer Complained That Black People Will 'Always Look Different'.

https://heavyeditorial. files.

wordpress. com/2018/11/stringer-1. mp3.

Speaking at Arizona State University on November 19, students challenged Stringer on his anti-immigration views after he claimed that "diversity in our country is relatively new.

"They were all European," Stringer said of immigrants from Ireland and Italy.

"So after their second or third generation, everybody looks the same.

Everybody talks the same.

That's not the case with African-Americans and other racial groups because they don't melt in.

They don't blend in.

They always look different.".

"Why does looking different matter?" a student asked.

"I don't know.

Maybe it doesn't," he replied.

"Maybe it doesn't to a lot of people.

It seems to matter to a lot of people who move out of Detroit, who move out of Baltimore.

You know we have white flight in this country.".

The student questioned him about the difference between his Polish great-grandfather and an immigrant of color.

https://heavyeditorial. files.

wordpress. com/2018/11/stringer-2. mp3.

"The difference between the Polish-American immigrant and the immigrant from Somalia is the second-generation Polish immigrant looks like the Irish kid and the German kid and every other kid.

But the immigrant from Somalia does not," Stringer replied.

"Does that matter?" the student asked.

"That's a legitimate question.

It doesn't matter to you.

Maybe that's a good thing.

It seems to matter to a lot of people," Stringer says.

David Stringer Also Called Non-Native English Speakers a 'Burden'.

https://heavyeditorial. files.

wordpress. com/2018/11/stringer-3. mp3.

In another audio clip obtained by The Phoenix New Times, a student asked Stringer how he would address issues with assimilation but he went off on a tangent about majority-black cities.

"I don't know how to fix Detroit," Stringer said.

"I don't know if anybody does know how to fix Detroit.

I lived in Baltimore for years.

I don't know how to fix that.".

"But that's a different issue than immigration," he continued.

"Cities are primarily African-American.

They are diverse.

They have other groups, but they are primarily African-American.

The immigration thing is affecting Arizona and California, Texas, Florida — states like that in a very dramatic way.

It's producing tensions and it's producing burdens on our system.".

"It costs a lot of more to educate a child who doesn't speak English as a native language," he added.

"So that's a burden on the taxpayers.

It's a pretty significant burden.".

David Stringer Previously Complained 'There Aren't Enough White Kids'.

In June, Stringer came under fire from even those in his own party when he complained about what he perceives as a lack of white kids.

"Sixty percent of public school children in the state of Arizona today are minorities," Stringer said at a Yavapai County Republican Men's Forum event.

"That complicates racial integration because there aren't enough white kids to go around.".

"Immigration today represents an existential threat to the United States," he claimed.

"If we don't do something about immigration very, very soon, the demographics of our country will be irrevocably changed and we will be a very different country.

It will not be the country you were born into.".

Republican Arizona Gov.

Doug Ducey called on Stringer to resign after the comments.

"I don't think there's any place for that kind of commentary in the public square and he's basically disqualified himself to lead at the state level," Ducey said at the time.

David Stringer Won Re-Election Despite Racism Accusations.

Despite the controversies, Stringer successfully ran for reelection in November.

He rejected allegations of racism and called himself a "truth teller.".

"My political opponents have taken 51 seconds out of a 16-minute speech to try to distort my message and mislead voters," Stringer said.

"We recognize the tactic.

I'm not interested in taking the fake news bait.".

He said in a statement:.

In my speech, I spoke at length about my efforts to pass criminal justice reform which is a long time passion of mine.

Our criminal justice system is broken and disproportionately targets minorities, more often than not for low level drug offenses.

My remarks also touched on several other issues including immigration ― both legal and illegal ―and the challenge of successfully assimilating large numbers of immigrants over a short period of time.

Arizona and our country as a whole are in the throes of rapid demographic change.

This presents issues of urgent public concern because of the strain it places on important institutions of our society including schools, prisons and our health care system.

My comments about school integration were factually accurate and were intended to illustrate the challenges facing successful integration when white students are a rapidly declining percentage of the whole.

This issue cries out for honest and open public discussion.

Regrettably, my political opponents seek to shut down discussion with name calling and vile accusations.

The irony is that in an effort to take cheap political shots, they are attacking the rarest of elected officials ― a conservative Republican who is championing criminal justice reform in the face of political threats and challenges from powerful elements and politicians in my own party.

I am not afraid of conservative bigwigs and I'm not afraid of liberal bullies either.

Anyone who doubts this is welcome to come hear me speak and judge for yourself if I am a truth teller.

A Black Lawmaker Called for David Stringer to Be Punished.

Arizona State Rep.

Reginald Bolding issued a statement calling on state House Speaker Rusty Bower to remove Stringer from his vice chairmanship of the House Judiciary Committee and his chairmanship of the House Sentencing & Recidivism Reform Committee.

The African-American Democrat said in a statement that "Rep.

Stringer has reduced what it means to be American down to one thing, how you look.

That's one thing I can't change.

I love this country as much as him, I've worked as hard as him, if not harder, to make my community better, and yet if I were to move in next door, it sounds to me like he'd pack up and move away that night.".

Myth: Anorexia Nervosa is not treatable - Duration: 3:56.

I'm alive,

but I don't really want it.

This is not the life I wanted.

It hurts…everything..

I…Just…I just want to be thin, nothing more else.

Why do I have to go through this?

Hey everyone, My Name is Yew Jin

and Today I am going to talk about a myth on anorexia nervosa.

So the myth is Anorexia nervosa cannot be treated.

So you want to know when or why this myth even exists in the first place.

Let's look back to a study,

a study that is conducted by holiday and her colleagues on the perception on Anorexia nervosa.

Apparently, the majority believe that anorexia nervosa can be treated.

The majority, of course is the public, which is like you and me,

we are the normal people who are not suffering from it.

But those who believe in it are the sufferers themselves, so it is not surprising that they share experience to us

and some of us the non-sufferers actually believe that it actually cannot been treated.

Well for those who believe that this myths is true, sorry to break the news but it is not.

Okay so let's get on to another study which is from Steinhausen himself back in 2002,

sad to say his study achieve strengthen the view of AN cannot be treated

because he mention that effective treatment so far from his study, there isn't really not much progress

and the result of recovery shows that 50% fully recovery from AN,

30% partially recovered or to say improving, and lastly 20% are still chronically ill.

That doesn't mean AN cannot be treated.

One of the treatment are seems to be promising up currently, up today

is family based treatment.

So according to Lock and his colleagues back in 2010,

apparently when they test the treatment itself on the adolescents

they found out that half of the teens recovered within the first year

compare to 23% of the teens when they use individual adolescent therapy on them.

So family based treatment so far seems to hold many promises

and even according to lock himself back in 2006,

he found out that this treatment are applicable for children

and one of the challenges of AN recovery is relapse,

and this is also mention that Lock and his colleagues again found in same year 2010

that family based treatment has a protective factor against relapse.

So from all of this I mention,

I just want to make a point that AN is actually treatable.

Yes, it is difficult, it is complicated,

but it is not impossible to treat.

So please for those who are having it or those who know they are suffering from it,

always ask them to seek treatment from them before it is too late.

You don't want to lose them to an Illness.

Take action before it is too late.

I hope you enjoy this video and you learn something from it.

Please subscribe and like our video and Thank You very much.

I hope to see you well.

Hung Le: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com - Duration: 9:49.

Hung Le: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

Hung Le is a Stanford math lecturer accused of sexually harassing the college's male wrestlers by watching them shower for years.

Seven former wrestlers came forward for the first time to allege that Le ogled them naked in the locker room after practices, The Mercury News reports.

The former wrestlers said that they complained to coaches but they did nothing to stop it.

The coaches disputed the claims.

Le has denied doing anything inappropriate.

Le claimed that the allegations were the result of a "misunderstanding" and said he showered with the wrestlers after going running.

Some of the wrestlers accused him of touching himself and "spying" on wrestlers in the shower.

He denied the allegations to the Mercury News.

Here's what you need to know:.

7 Former Stanford Wrestlers Accuse Hung Le.

Seven former wrestlers came forward for the first time to publicly allege that Le ogled them in the showers.

Le has been affiliated with the Stanford wrestling team for 25 years, The Mercury News reported.

Le is accused of touching himself while "spying" on the wrestlers in the shower.

Le denied any wrongdoing.

"I felt pretty exposed and pretty unprotected by the folks who were supposed to be" us, former wrestler Josh Brown told the outlet.

"Any given day where that happened would be the worst day.".

"I never had any improper behavior," Le said.

Matt Gentry, a 2004 NCAA champion at the school and a two-time Olympian, said that Le's behavior was a "running joke" among the team, though he said he never felt harassed or threatened.

"The fact there was excessive staring in the shower did happen," he said.

Some of the wrestlers told the Mercury News that a teammate confronted Le but he did not change his behavior.

The wrestlers said other men sometimes showed up with Le and "stared at them the way Le did," the outlet reported, though they could not identify the other individuals.

Most of the wrestlers admitted they never complained to coaches or college officials because they were embarrassed, the Mercury News reported.

But some said they brought up the topic around coaches who told them to shower in groups and ignore Le.

Former wrestler Drew Martinez said then-head coach Steve Buddie and his assistant Jay Jackson were aware of the behavior.

Both say they were unaware it was happening.

"It breaks my heart this comes up now and I am hearing of this," said Buddie.

"I had zero reported to me or brought to my attention.".

Jackson said that he never heard complaints about Le, but said "we told the wrestlers to watch themselves and be careful.

Current head coach Jason Borrelli, who has been with the team since 2008, said that he believed Le "posed no threat.

" "To my knowledge, nothing inappropriate ever happened, and if it had, I would have reported it immediately," his associate head coach, Ray Blake, told the Mercury News.

Hung Le Denies Doing Anything Inappropriate.

"I never had any improper behavior," Le told The Mercury News and denied all of the allegations.

"I am shocked some of the wrestlers said they were uncomfortable," Le said.

"No one ever said anything to me.".

The Mercury News reported:.

In interviews with this news organization, Le called it all a misunderstanding, saying it was only coincidental that he showered when the wrestlers did after he went running.

Le said he also faces an accusation that he was seen touching himself while "spying" on wrestlers in the shower, a charge he vehemently denied… When first approached by this news organization, Le initially denied being involved with Stanford wrestling.

But documents and interviews contradicted that claim.

He eventually acknowledged his long affiliation with the team, befriending coaches, being listed as a "Friend of Stanford Wrestling" in media guides, making donations, hosting dinners and serving on the youth team's board to handle its finances.

Former Wrestlers Reject Hung Le's Claims.

Four of the former wrestlers said it was "more than random chance" that Le would regularly shower with them.

Brown and three others said Le would sometimes wait for the wrestlers in the locker room when practices ran long or ended early.

"Even to this day I am wary in locker rooms, at least keeping my head on a swivel," former wrestler Drew Martinez told the outlet.

"It had no business being this way," said Brown.

"But it is one of my vivid associations of being an athlete at Stanford.".

Stanford Launched Title IX Investigation Into Claims Against Hung Le.

The Mercury News reports that Stanford began its investigation of the allegations against Le over the summer under Title IX, a federal law that requires colleges to investigate such claims.

The outlet reported that the investigation will cover allegations made by athletes about incidents that took place between 2002 and 2010.

A Stanford spokesperson told the outlet that the investigation may conclude as early as Friday.

The allegations first surfaced when a former wrestler expressed concerns about Le's position on the wrestling team's youth team, the Cardinal Wrestling Club.

None of the allegations against Le involve the youth club or current team members.

Le resigned his position in June before the investigation was launched.

Stanford Previously Received Complaints About Hung Le.

The wrestlers who came forward said they were unaware of the past allegations against Le.

The Mercury News reports that in 2011, a friend of one of the wrestlers informed the school of Le's behavior in the showers.

An athletics department official cleared Le of misconduct but warned him to avoid the showers and one-on-one encounters with team members.

Le was investigated by the athletics department and the Sexual Harassment Policy office but Le said he was never interviewed by an investigator from the office and only discussed the matter with the athletics department, according to The Mercury News.

An email sent by former athletics official Earl Koberlein to Le urged him to "keep a good distance away from wrestling team members" in the shower but said he found no violations of the sexual harassment policy.
