Here's everything you wanted to know about snot but were too afraid to ask.
I'm Anna and this is Gross Science.
It might seem like a bummer when you have a cold, but snot is truly terrific stuff.
Snot is what we call the mucus that comes out of our noses, but we actually produce
similar, slimy substances all over our bodies—from our lungs, to our guts, to our private parts.
And all this mucus is actually vital to our survival.
Mucus keeps us healthy by keeping our delicate body tissues moist, and by trapping particles
that might irritate or infect us.
And snot is one of our first lines of defense, since about 80% of our body's air filtration
happens in the nose.
So, how does it work?
Well, special types of cells called "goblet" cells in the membranes lining your nose produce
proteins called "mucins."
Mucins are long protein chains that are great at linking up with one another, and are heavily
"glycosylated."
That means that they have lots of sugar groups attached to them.
And this chemical sugar coating means that they can absorb lots of water.
In fact, mucus is about 95% water.
(And, as a quick side note, boogers are just snot that's dried up a bit.)
Anyway, we produce a ton of this stuff.
When you're healthy, you make a little under half a cup of mucus a day—and that's just
in your nose.
So when you breath in, all that mucus traps any harmful particles that may have hitched
a ride on the incoming air.
If any pathogens, like bacteria or viruses, are trapped, antimicrobial agents in the mucus,
like lysozymes, may help to destroy them, and antibodies may help recruit immune cells
to deal with the invaders.
Throughout the day, you have a steady stream of mucus moving over your nasal passages.
Certain cells lining your nose have small, hair-like projects sticking off of them called
"cilia."
These cilia beat through the mucus, and move it about a millimeter per second toward your
throat, where you swallow it down.
That's right, you swallow most of the snot you produce everyday, probably without even
realizing it.
And that's just when you're healthy.
But what about when you're sick?
A runny nose and nasal congestion mean that a pathogen has managed to sneak through the
mucus defense.
So, your body springs into action.
First of all, it starts producing more mucus, to flush the pathogens out.
But it also sends lots of immune cells to the area to battle the invaders.
Along with this influx of immune cells may come some inflammation of the nasal passages.
Specifically, structures on the sides of your nose that help warm the incoming air, called
nasal turbinates, may swell, making it difficult to breath.
So, it may not exactly be an excess of snot that causes congestion, but all the nasal
inflammation.
Your sinuses may also get infected and inflamed.
Sinuses are air pockets in the bones of your face, that also produce mucus.
You actually have four of them on each side of your head.
And when the membranes of the sinuses swell, mucus and air can get trapped, which cause
the headaches and facial pressure that can sometime come with a cold.
Anyway, while congestion and runny noses may be unpleasant, they're just a sign that
your body is doing its job and protecting you from invaders.
So maybe next time you get a sniffle, you'll be able to appreciate your snot a little bit
more.
Ew.
What do the different colors of snot mean?
And how do all those cold medicines really work?
Head over to Reactions to learn even more snotty science.
I've actually done a collab with Reactions before, because they're awesome.

TROLLS RAINBOW DRIP CAKE RECIPE - Duration: 6:14.
Hi guys it is becky here welcome to my virgin kitchen we are not in the kitchen today barry
has brought me out to the beach and it is freezing it is really cold, today I am showing
you how to make the most amazing rainbow tie dye coloured drip cake it is so colourful
and I am really proud of myself that I managed to achieve this this was not just any cake
this was a cake for chloes fifth birthday so it had to be covered in trolls and really
bright colours, I really hope you give this a go.
If you do want to give this a go check out the ingredients and method over on myvirginkitchen.com
the first thing I did was make 2 chocolate and 2 vanilla sponge cakes you have seen me
make these before on the easy chocolate cake and Victoria sandwich recipe we will put links
to those videos up here and down below and also in those recipe videos are how to make
the buttercream that we are going to use, first up we get a cake stand we have one with
a spinning top which makes icing cakes so easy, grab a cake board and place on top then
get a small amount of buttercream icing now you are going to begin layering your cakes,
put the first sponge on top of that, followed by some buttercream then just alternate the
sponges filled with buttercream until you are at the top with your cake.
So the first layer of buttercream around your cake is called a crumb layer now I have never
done a crumb layer before but I found out the reason you do a crumb layer is to latch
all the crumbs onto the side of the cake so they stay in place, so when you do your final
layer of icing those crumbs do not show through.
Do your best to get it as smooth as you can then leave the cake to chill for about 20
minutes in the fridge.
We would have put ours in the fridge but it was freezing that day so our conservatory
was just as cold as a fridge.
So we put ours out there, but anywhere that is cold is fine to keep the cake.
Once the cake is nice and chilled do another layer of buttercream but this time you want
it to be that little bit thicker so go around the sides then get it nice and smooth, as
you get it nice and smooth you will probably find a lot of buttercream will come off, then
do a nice thick layer over the top of the cake.
This is where you want to get your buttercream smooth around the cake take your time either
use a flat pallet knife or we used a cake scraper which was amazing I have never used
one before I did not even know we had one until barry got it out of the drawer.
We have had one for years but never used it.
It made it so easy to get it nice and smooth.
You are then going to leave that to chill again for another 20 minutes then you can
begin the fun coloured part of the cake, divide the icing into five bowls, hello, alright
it is cold, so we used blue, purple, yellow, pink and orange for our colouring, once your
coloured buttercream is ready this is where you can make the cake look amazing get a small
amount of any colour you want to begin with just gently put it on the side of the cake.
Do this with each colour just alternate it put the colours all over the cake you want
to get it completely covered in spots of yellow icing it did look like it had a spotty disease
or colourful mould going on, I think it should have stayed like that, it did look pretty
cool all the coloured icing around the cake.
Once the cake is covered in buttercream icing grab the spatula or cake scraper, just hold
it at the side and gently spin the cake around so all the buttercream icing merges into one
and you have a tie dye thing going on, once you have been around one way you go back around
the other way and that gives an even better effect they are all merged in together and
it looks really effective, really cool.
Do not worry if when scraping around a lot of buttercream comes off that is fine, just
scrape it to the side, but keep going around, when I did it I got my cake nice and smooth
but I did notice I had some gaps, and some holes where I had not put enough icing on
so I just got a small amount of any colour put it in the gaps and I put my flat spatula
in some warm water and just smoothed those holes the last bit you are going to make is
the chocolate ganache I broke up some pieces of white chocolate, put them in a bowl, then
poured over some cream, then blasted it in the microwave for a minute or so and then
gave it a good stir together.
You just want to get that chocolate all nice and melted.
I then changed it to pink so I added In a bit of food colouring, I did not have the
oil based food colouring and because we are putting it in chocolate we use that so I added
a drop of vegetable oil and gave it a good mix together, that will mean that the chocolate
will not seize.
You are then going to pour a small amount onto the top of the cake, you can put it quite
close to the edge, but just gently push it over the edge so it creates a drip effect
then do that all around the edge of the cake until you have drips coming down, then pour
the rest of the ganache very carefully so it covers the top of the cake.
So I wanted long drips down my cake to look like troppy floll hair?!
Troppy floll, fluffy troll hair but if you want shorter drips going down let the ganache
sit for 5 minutes so it is not as runny, so you should just get smaller drips going down.
Let that firm up for a few minutes then you can just add your decorations on top, we went
for trolls of course we had troll figures we did a little 5 with some smarties and added
some rainbow strip sweets.
There we go our cake was done and I was so pleased with it but this is my first time
making anything like this and was really pleased chloe loved it and it tasted amazing too so
please give this a go if you do send us your pictures we would love to see how you get
on, do not forget to follow us on all social media and we will see you again next time,
bye!

Exam Students, Let's Make Concentration Easy Tip #1 - Duration: 7:37.
So you're studying for exams!
The question that I'm asked most is
How can I help myself to concentrate better?
I help thousands of people every year
to concentrate more effectively and efficiently,
to remember more of what they read,
what they hear and what they study.
We make sure that they can bring
that to mind when they need it in their exams!
So if you're interested in the
techniques that I use, I'm going to be
showing 1 simple activity that you can use
to eliminate visual distraction
so that you can focus all of your attention
into your FOCUS ZONE
Your FOCUS ZONE is the space between the top of your head
the of your shoulders and down to your waist.
When you are concentrating and
focusing most of your energy and your attention
attention needs to be focused into this
space because this is where you
hold your book to read this is where you write
this is where you type this is why you do the things
that you need to do in order to study
and to perform in your exams.
If you can bring your attention into this FOCUS ZONE
and keep it there for EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME
then you will have no difficulty and studying
So the first activity that I help people to do is
is to bring the visual attention in
from their whole visual environment into this space
into their FOCUS ZONE
and to do this all we do is we reassure
your body and your mind and your whole being, in fact,
that you are SAFE in your VISUAL ENVIRONMENT.
We inherited our bodies and the way we operate
and the way that we operate
from our ancestors who were hunter-gatherers!
If they missed a single sign of danger
in their environment it could be catastrophic,
they could lose their life, their family or their food,
but for us in the 21st century
that's not the issue (Thankfully!)
We need to make sure of is that you feel secure wherever you are,
that you feel relaxed,
that you feel comfortable....
When you can feel safe in your environment
then it becomes possible for you to
focus all of your visual attention in here
and to ignore the rest of the visual environment.
To do this we are first going to
check how your eye muscles are working
because, when you are reading
your eyes have to travel over and back
and as you look up and look down
to various different things as you are studying
and if you are called to look up to you need to be
able to look up and look back down again
as long as your vision remains within your FOCUS ZONE
then things are okay
Right now we need to check how well the muscles
of your eyes are working because when
the muscles of your eyes aren't working
well you will start to use your neck
muscles and you find people who are
reading and they're turning the head
rather than moving their eyes
This can be a major strain and stress on your body
it makes you tired very quickly and it
makes you want to switch off
concentrating and studying from the
topic that you're dealing with.
So what we're going to do now is
to check how your eyes are moving
I'm going to invite you to LOOK UP towards your eyebrows
and then LOOK DOWN towards your chin
and look towards one ear
and then look towards the other ear
and just decide yourself which one
of those (directions) felt most strained
Was it (looking )UP Down to this side or the other?
Just write that down for yourself,
notice or just remember it.......
So the first activity we're going to do
involves putting your thumb and two fingers like this.
The distance apart is approximately the same
as the width of your mouth.
So bring it down here onto your chest
under your collar bone
just at the wing tips of your shirt.....
What you want to do is
rub here (under your collarbones )
the other hand is going to rest on your belly-button. (naval)
While we are doing this I'm going to invite you
you to move your eyes slowly all the way
all over to one side....
at eye level if you can
.... and then slowly all the way back....
....go to the other side at eye-level
look towards one ear
and then slowly across
towards the other ear again.
So one loop all the way over and back is one complete cycle
and we will do this three times in total.
Slowly...... slowly send your eyes across all the way
and all the way back slowly, gently
and as you are doing this you may find that you
actually scanning the whole visual horizon.
You are reassuring your brain and your body that you feel safe
and that there is no imminent danger
in your environment.
Next we're going to swap hands
I'm going to invite you just begin at
one (ear either on) this side of the other side
and slowly allow your eyes to go all the
way up towards your eyebrows,
across your forehead, follow all the way towards your ear
down across your cheek, down towards your chin
towards the other cheek,
over towards your ear,
all the way up towards your eyebrow
all the way up along
and anywhere that you find that your eyes are jumping
don't worry about it because we're going
to go around three times in total.
As we are doing this we are scanning the
environment above you and below you,
and we are reassuring the hunter-gatherer within you
that you're not going to be attacked
from the overhanging trees
you're not going to be attacked from the ground
and as a result you can feel safe and secure.
Because you know feel safe and secure within yourself
you are going to find it so much easier to
bring attention into the very center of your FOCUS ZONE
and you are going to find easier to
read and to do other things that will be
involved in studying.
So I'm going to check with you now
Please look towards your eyebrows
and look towards your chin
look towards one ear and thentowards the other ear.
So, is there the same level of strain(as before)
or have your eyes relaxed?
In the comments underneath
please let me know how you got on.
(There will be a new video ) tomorrow which will
help you to clear away the auditory distractions
so that you'll no longer be hearing the outside noises
and you are able to focus and calm down
the hearing and listening inside your head
so that the only thing that you're
hearing is your ( inner )voice as you reading
or your (inner )voice as you are working out the problem that you're solving
Thank you for watching

Do You Hold Your Chopsticks Like a Dork? (Here's Why) - Duration: 6:47.
Quick test
Here are six different, yet common ways people hold chopsticks
Can you spot the correct method?
You probably narrowed it down to these two
And you'd be right, they're very similar
but it's this one that is correct
If you hold your chopsticks like this.... give yourself a pat on the back
If not, that's ok too, because it's probably more common than you think
Observing your own chopsticks grip, you may have wondered WHY you chose the method that you did
Why you ended up holding it like this
this....
or even this
I'll be getting into that soon, but first, some context
Around the world, 40% of us use our hands to eat, 30% use knives and forks
and the remaining 30% use chopsticks
Most chopstick users are from East and Southeast Asia
with China, Korea and Japan being the big three
Actually, China and Korea often pair chopsticks with spoons
so it is really only Japan where everything is pretty much eaten with chopsticks
Despite this, many Asian people, and even Japanese people, hold their chopsticks incorrectly
According to Meiji University in Tokyo, over two-thirds of people above the age of 30
did not or could not hold their chopsticks correctly, and it gets even worse for the younger generation
If you're a Westerner struggling with chopsticks, perhaps you don't need to feel too bad
On the other hand, if you want to master using chopsticks to this level....
you might want to start practicing the right way
Ok, now let's get into WHY?
Using chopsticks would have come naturally to some of you, but not so much to others
Your ability or inability can be due to a combination of factors
Here's the first one, Initial Hunger
The first few times you used chopsticks, how crazy hungry were you?
Were you so hungry that you didn't really care how you grabbed the food
so as long as you could shovel it into your mouth?
Or were you only kinda hungry
not minding the 20 or so seconds it may have taken to figure out the most efficient technique?
Whatever the case, it's likely some variation of your initial chopstick grip
has stayed with you till today
The next one plays an even bigger role, Finger Dexterity
Some people just find it easier to move their fingers in all directions, and with coordination
That's my hand there...kinda freaky
See if you can do this
Straighten out your fingers, and have your index finger
sit on top your middle finger like that, then straighten out the joint
Easy?
Ok, then move it one finger down
Do the same with the middle finger, sitting on top your ring finger, straighten out the joint
If you found this movement hard, then holding your chopsticks the correct way
might have been a challenge
If you want, you can move one finger down yet again, your ring finger on your pinky
This last one doesn't really affect your chopstick skills, but it is fun to try
By the way, these movements do get easier with practice
If you're a pro, try switching hands
By this point, I have to stop recording for 5 minutes because of cramps
I'm back, moving on to the next one, Pencil Grip
Quite often, the way you hold a pencil or pen influences your chopstick grip
This may seem obvious as it is well-known that you're supposed to hold the top chopstick
similar to a pencil, with the bottom stick sliding in this position
Only the top one should be moving
But what happens if your pencil grip is wrong to start with
Maybe you hold it like this... or like this
In this case, there's a chance it will be reflected in your chopstick grip
Left-handers have it the worse though
Writing has always been an issue for various reasons, and as such
you can expect many lefties to have wackier chopstick styles
Parental Guidance is also a factor
How obsessive were your parents at making sure you held the chopsticks correctly?
If you have the classic Asian parents, you may have been constantly reminded
They also probably made you feel bad for using your left hand
But as a result, you likely ended up holding your chopsticks quite well
although possibly having developed parental issues along the way
Anyway, conversely if your parents didn't really care about this kind of stuff
you might have grown up in a family of rather liberal chopstick users
This last one, you might not have thought of, but the TYPE of chopsticks you are used to
could have shaped your technique
The three main types of chopsticks are Chinese, Japanese and Korean chopsticks
with South East Asian chopsticks being quite similar to the Chinese
The Chinese chopsticks are the thickest and longest of them all
often made with bamboo or melamine, and with a thick flat tip
You can see these melamine ones in most Chinese restaurants
The chopsticks are bulkier to handle and the material is very slippery and smooth
which can sometimes make grabbing food a challenge
So if these are the chopsticks you're familiar with
your chopstick grip may have adjusted for these shortcomings
Perhaps you position the sticks wider to create more pressure when grasping the food
Or you hold the chopsticks higher which can be more difficult to handle
but distributes the melamine weight more adequately for the fingers
On a side note, and this is for any type of chopstick
you may see many non-Asians or chopstick newbies going the other end
as this gives more control, despite the poor weight distribution
I should mention that one benefit for the larger Chinese chopsticks
is that you can grab more food at once
Japanese chopsticks are smaller and lighter in comparison
They are often made of wood, and here you can see it tapers into a point
This allows for a higher level of precision and versatility
It is said that it was designed this way to pick out tiny fish bones from whole fish
Whatever the reason, the Japanese chopsticks, with all its advantages
may have an unexpected downside
One might not always feel the need to hold chopsticks correctly, as a poor technique
can still get the job done
Especially since in Japanese cuisine, food is often prepared bite-sized, perfect for chopstick use
Korean chopsticks are the most difficult to use
They are flatter, have a blunt tip, and are made of stainless steel (metal)
which makes it quite heavy and frictionless
I'm not as familiar with these chopsticks, so I'm not exactly sure of the relationship
with different grips
but in South Korea, as with most places, you will see a fair number of people holding it incorrectly
On a side note, if you're from Singapore or Malaysia
you'll notice many people don't see this as the correct method
Instead, it's something like this
I'm not sure how it evolved that way, but if you have any insight on the matter
let me know in the comments
Ok let's go back for a second, back to the myriad of ways people hold their chopsticks
You may be wondering, how your chopstick method stacks up with everyone else's
Is it closer to this end.... or do you hold it like a dork
I will be analysing the 10 most common incorrect ways to hold chopsticks in a future video
so make sure you're subscribed to get that

Understanding Kalman Filters, Part 1: Why Use Kalman Filters? - Duration: 6:47.
In this video, we'll discuss why you'd use Kalman filters.
If you're not familiar with the topic, you may be asking yourself, "What is a Kalman filter?
Is it a new brand of coffee filter that brews the smoothest tasting coffee?"
No, it's not. A Kalman filter is an optimal estimation algorithm.
Today we'll discuss two examples that demonstrate common uses of Kalman filters.
In the first example, we'll see how a Kalman filter can be used to estimate a system state when it cannot be measured directly.
To illustrate this, let's go to Mars before anyone else does.
If your spacecraft's engine can burn fuel at a high enough temperature, it can create thrust that will let you fly to Mars.
By the way, according to NASA, liquid hydrogen is a light and powerful rocket propellant that burns with extreme intensity
at 5500 degrees Fahrenheit. But be careful, because a too high temperature can put the mechanical components of the engine at risk.
And this can lead to the failure of some of the mechanical parts.
If that happens, you might be stuck in your small spacecraft where you've got to eat from tubes.
To prevent such a situation, you should closely monitor the internal temperature of the combustion chamber.
This is not an easy task, since a sensor placed inside the chamber would melt.
Instead, it needs to be placed on a cooler surface close to the chamber.
The problem you're facing here is that you want to measure internal temperature of the chamber but you can't.
Instead, you have to measure external temperature.
In this situation, you can use a Kalman filter to find the best estimate of the internal temperature from an indirect measurement.
This way, you're extracting information about what you can't measure from what you can.
Now that you know the solution to your problem, you can continue your journey to Mars.
But are you scared of traveling in space? Let me tell you this:
On Mars, you're going to weigh 62% less than what you weigh on Earth. Still not convinced?
Ok, then let's go back and take a look at another scenario that takes place on Earth.
In this example, we're going to see how a Kalman filter can be used to estimate a state of the system by combining measurements from
different sources that may be subject to noise.
You have guests visiting from overseas and you need to pick them up from the airport.
You're using your car's navigation system. Let's look at the sensors you have onboard,
which help you find your position and navigate you to the airport.
The inertial measurement unit (IMU) uses accelerometers and gyroscopes to measure the car's acceleration and angular velocity.
The odometer measures the relative distance traveled by the car.
The GPS receiver receives signals from satellites to locate the car on earth's surface.
If you live in Boston as I do, you've got to travel through the Big Dig, a very very long tunnel.
And in the tunnel, it gets harder to estimate your position through GPS, since the receiver's line of sight to satellites is blocked
and GPS signal is weak. In this case, you may want to trust the IMU readings, which give you the acceleration.
However, acceleration itself doesn't tell you much about the car's position.
For that, you need to take the double integral of the acceleration.
Unfortunately, this operation is prone to drift due to small errors accumulating over time.
To get better position estimates, you can use IMU measurements along with odometer readings.
But note that odometer measurements may be affected by the tire pressure and road conditions.
To summarize, your sensors measuring the relative position of your car give you fast updates, but they are prone to drift.
The GPS receiver provides your absolute location, but it gets updated less frequently and it may be noisy.
In this scenario, a Kalman filter can be used to fuse these three measurements to find the optimal estimate of the exact position of the car.
Let's look at some facts about Kalman filters.
The Kalman filter is named after Rudolf Kalman, who is the primary developer of its theory.
It is an optimal estimation algorithm that predicts the parameter of interest such as location, speed, and direction
in the presence of noisy measurements.
Common applications of Kalman filters include guidance, navigation, and control systems; computer vision systems; and signal
processing. One of the first applications of Kalman filters was in the 1960s.
Do you have any guesses as to what it helped with?
Engineers used it in the Apollo project, where the Kalman filter was used to estimate
trajectories of the manned spacecraft to the Moon and back.
Let's summarize what we've seen in this video. Kalman filters are used to optimally estimate the variables of interest
when they can't be measured directly, but an indirect measurement is available.
They're also used to find the best estimate of states by combining measurements from various sensors in the presence of noise.
In the next videos, we'll cover what Kalman filters are and how they work.
Kalman filtering is a method to design optimal state observers. Therefore, in the next video,
we'll learn state observers and then we'll continue our discussion with optimal state estimators.

Bovet 1822 - New Timepieces of 2017 - Duration: 4:19.
Hello and today we will talk about the 3 main novelties presented by Bovet early this year
and I would have normally included this in our next PRIMETIME, but since I can already
tell you that this one is going to be quite intense, I thought it was
better to a quick and rather one-off with these timepieces.
So the first timepiece is a lady's watch called the Miss Dimier Récital 19 and it's
a simple and elegant blue dialed oval automatic watch coming in a 37mm steel case with diamond
set bezel.
You will find two types of finishing on the dial, the center is brushed, whereas at the
outer portion is lacquered.
The second watch is the Virtuoso VIII in the Fleurier Grande Complication collection of
the brand.
The first noticeable feature concerns the case, as it takes this same and asymmetric
element previously seen in the Recital 18 Shooting Star.
This is naturally quite original and has clearly entered the design code of the brand.
But one of the consequences of this design is that the movement had to be pushed upwards
slightly, which leaves never the less plenty of space for this rather spectacular flying
tourbillon with titanium polished bridge sitting at 6 o'clock.
Two other key features are the big date, which can be seen through this tear shaped dial
around the 3 o'clock mark and as you would expect with Bovet, an astounding finishing
with two types of engraving techniques seen on both sides of the timepiece.
This watch hold a very comfortable 10-day of power reserve achieved with one single
barrel, quite a performance.
It comes in two versions, red or white gold, with 3 different types of dials, it's limited
to 39 piece each and if you really want it, you can ask for a platinum version.
And now for the star of the show with the Récital 20 Asterium.
Following last year's Récital 18 where we where looking at the earth, well Bovet
has inverted the idea and you are now looking directly at the sky.
But it's not a simple redesign, no, there has been a lot of thinking and extensive development
behind this incredible astrological timepiece.
I will not go in all the details; it would be an insult to do this in 1 minute, because
this timepiece really deserves a full report about it.
So you can see this more as a little teaser and to summarize really shortly its main feature,
well what you see in the center is as if you were looking up at the sky if you live on
the 45° North latitude, meaning more or less where we are here in Switzerland, New York
for our American friends, Kazakhstan and the northern tip of Japan for our very cool international
audience.
So this entire sky map turns on itself in an anticlockwise move in a full astral year,
meaning in 365.25 days.
But you will find a crazy shaped hour hand, with this kind of oval opening, which turns
in the regular direction in 24 hours and in the oval, this is the precise sky map of the
stars above you corresponding to that indicated time and regarding the minute hand, well you
have a 60 minute retrograde system.
Ok, there are still plenty of things to be said regarding this watch; equation of time,
annual calendar on the back, 10-day power reserve, it comes in two versions, rose or
white gold, but overall limited to 60 movements, something I like with Bovet, so not limited
by version, but by the amount of movement they will produce.
So just stay tune with us for a complete review and understanding of this watch, hopefully
the sooner the better.
All the best, see you soon.

Dowsing To Change Your Life - Duration: 3:30.
Hi.
This is Nigel from Discovering Dowsing answering your questions about dowsing.
Dowsing to change your life.
Perhaps it might be more accurate not to say dowsing to change your life, as that suggests
that there are one or two specific things you need to do in order to do that.
Better perhaps to say that dowsing can change your life, or that if you use dowsing a lot,
it can change your life.
Of course, the question then is, how?
How can that happen?
The truth is, it doesn't happen for everyone who dowses.
Just because you dowse doesn't mean that your life will change.
Well, maybe it will but only in tiny, tiny ways that make no real difference.
Let's say that you use dowsing regularly, but you only use it for deciding which vitamins
and minerals to buy, or what food to order from a menu.
That's good that you're using it, but those things, by themselves, aren't going
to make any real change in your life.
The sort of change I'm talking about here is the change that happens so that you wake
up one day and realize that your life; the way you think about it, the way you live it,
has changed for the better and you find yourself more at peace with yourself and with the world
and you trust yourself and what you do more than before.
No, not everything is perfect and exactly as you want it, but those things don't irritate
you as much anymore and you can see more clearly what it is you want and what it is inside
of you which is stopping you from achieving your goals.
That's the sort of change I mean.
And dowsing your vitamins isn't going to do that for you.
The dowsing which will change your life in that big way is the dowsing which asks questions
about yourself and your goals.
It's the dowsing which makes you think about how the world might really work.
Not the politics and the day-to-day stuff, but what's going on behind the scenes metaphysically
and how that relates to you and how you fit into it all, without making you the center
of the universe but only a part of it.
It's the dowsing which focuses more on yourself and less on others.
It's the trust you put into it, along with the willingness to be proved wrong, which
takes you down paths you didn't even know existed before.
And, beyond that, it's the willingness to put in the work to deal with the issues that
you uncover as you go along.
Not some quick fix with some short spin of a pendulum, but the hard yards to understand
yourself better and be willing to change, to see the change, even if it takes far longer
than you really want it to.
Without dowsing as a starting point, using it to dig around inside yourself in a way
that would be impossible otherwise, change — real, lasting change — would be far,
far harder.
So, if you thought this was going to be about some simple technique, some quick fix formula
you could say or do once or twice and everything would be well for ever and you'd never have
to do anything again, think again.
If that's what you really are looking for, then changing that mindset would be the most
powerful, effective and lasting change you could ever make.
What are you waiting for?
Happy dowsing!

Jeep Wrangler Slipstream Secure Cover System (2007-2017 JK 4 Door) Review & Install - Duration: 6:09.
I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com and this is my review and installation of the Slipstream
Secure Cover System, fitting all 2007 and up JKs.
There is a version of this available for those of you with a 2007 to 2010 JK and those of
you with the 11 and up, so make sure you get the right one for your Jeep.
Today we're going to talk through the installation of this system as well as the construction
and a few of the features.
If you have a four-door JK and you want to be able to store items behind your rear seat
in the trunk area of your JK while keeping them safe from both prying eyes and anybody
who might want to grab them, this system is a great option.
Whether you have a hard top or a soft top, securing that area behind the rear seat is
going to be easy with this system.
Now, this system is built a lot better than a lot of the other systems I've seen from
the security aspect to the build quality and the finish quality.
However, all of that means that this is also going to be slightly more expensive than some
of the competition.
There are a few different rear cargo area security solutions available on the market.
Some of them have hinged tops which can make it a little bit more convenient to get in
and out of that area.
However, that also leads to one additional point that somebody who wants to get into
your cargo area could more easily break in.
This system does not have any hinges.
The top panel only lifts up by removing the pins that are only accessible through opening
up the tailgate which, of course, will lock.
This also has wings that cover the area from the cargo space to the outside of the tub
right where the roll cage will come through the tub so that keeps anybody from being able
to pry underneath and pop the top off.
So the fact that this doesn't have any hinges, it doesn't have any accessible latches from
the outside, only from within the tailgate, and the fact that this doesn't use any hardware
that has an exposed head on the outside of it, it only uses carriage bolts so there's
no way that you can grab that and spin it from the outside mean that this is very, very
secure.
You combine that with the high build quality and the high strength of all of these materials
and it means you have an impenetrable rear cargo area when you install this system.
It also has an area up top where you can store additional cargo up to 250 pounds and it has
a system for strapping down that cargo whether you want to use a ratchet strap, a bungee
cord, or an elastic net.
That feature of being able to store things on top of your cargo deck lid means that you
have some additional storage, and that's also something that sets this apart from some of
the other systems on the market.
Because this is very well built, because it's high quality materials, and all of the additional
bends for additional strength mean that you have a 250-pound weight capacity on top of
the cargo cover where some of the other versions of this system on the market do not.
I'm going to give this installation a one out of three wrenches.
It is a little bit involved only because there are a few different pieces and there is a
good bit of hardware but there's no cutting.
Of course, there's no wiring.
So, overall, the installation is going to be very simple, although it may be a little
bit time consuming.
I would give yourself a solid two hours to get this installed in your Jeep.
Now, the first step of the installation is to install the front portion that goes directly
behind the rear seats.
In order to do that, you will have to loosen up the seat brackets to slide the brackets
that come with this kit underneath and then tighten them down again.
After that, there are some side brackets, there is the top section to install, and then
the outside wings.
The wings that come with this are, again, very well built like the rest of this system
is, even to the point where you were to remove your hard top, you can tuck the wiring in
the tube for your rear windshield washer away, and it has a little piece that covers over
top of that, keeping everything nice and clean.
So to get this installed you are going to just need a traditional set of hand tools,
no specialty tools, but do give yourself some time and be sure to read the instructions
carefully.
I mentioned that there are a couple of different versions of this system available on the market.
Tuffy is known for building security products and they do make a rear cargo storage solution,
as well as Aries Automotive that make something that's a little bit more akin to this one
because it does have the side wings as well.
But, as I mentioned, if security is really your main focus, this system is going to have
the fewest weak points for somebody who might want to break into it.
Along with that comes that higher price tag that we talked about.
This is going to be over $100 more than the Aries system and almost $200 more than the
Tuffy system.
So if security is very, very important to you, if what you're storing inside that cargo
area is something that you definitely want to keep secure and you have the budget for
it, this system is going to be one of the most secure systems I've seen manufactured.
However, if you just want to keep eyes out of the rear cargo area of your Jeep, if you're
not as concerned about somebody actively trying to break in, then maybe you can save a little
bit of money by going with one of those other systems.
So if you're somebody who stores valuables behind the rear seat of your JK in that trunk
area and you want to make sure that they stay safe from both prying eyes and anybody who
might want to break into your Jeep and grab them, this is a great system to go with.
This is more secure than a lot of the other systems on the market that are of a similar
design.
However, it is going to be a little bit more expensive.
So if security is the number one most important thing for you, I would recommend taking a
look at this system.
So that's my review of the Slipstream Secure Cover System available for all 2007 and up
JKs that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) - Duration: 2:52.
HI, I'M YADIRA, AND I WORK FOR THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE.
WE WANT YOU TO KNOW WE'VE MADE IMPORTANT CHANGES TO
THE INDIVIDUAL TAXPAYER IDENTIFICATION NUMBER PROGRAM, OR ITIN FOR SHORT.
FIRST, ITINS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN USED ON A U-S FEDERAL TAX RETURN AT LEAST ONCE IN THE
LAST THREE CONSECUTIVE YEARS, WHETHER FOR THE PRIMARY OR SECONDARY FILER, OR AS A DEPENDENT,
WILL EXPIRE ON DECEMBER 31ST OF THE THIRD YEAR.
IF YOU HAVEN'T FILED A TAX RETURN IN THE LAST THREE YEARS AND THINK YOU'LL HAVE A
FILING REQUIREMENT IN 2017,
YOU SHOULD SUBMIT A W-7 ITIN RENEWAL APPLICATION.
BE SURE TO USE THE LATEST W-7 FORM AND NOT AN OLDER VERSION.
THE CURRENT W-7 SHOWS A REVISION DATE OF SEPTEMBER 2016.
REMEMBER, YOU ONLY NEED TO RENEW YOUR ITIN IF YOU HAVE TO FILE A RETURN.
ADDITIONALLY, THE LAW REQUIRES ALL ITINS ISSUED BEFORE 2013 TO ALSO EXPIRE WHETHER OR NOT
THEY HAVE BEEN USED ON A TAX RETURN.
THOSE ITINS THAT HAVE THE MIDDLE DIGITS "78" OR "79" WILL NEED TO BE RENEWED AT THE
END OF 2016.
THE REMAINING ITINS WILL BE RENEWED OVER SEVERAL YEARS BEGINNING IN 2017.
YOU CAN FIND A FULL LIST OF ACCEPTABLE DOCUMENTS TO SUPPORT YOUR ITIN APPLICATION BY VISITING
IRS-DOT-GOV-SLASH-ITIN, OR BY CHECKING THE FORM W-7 INSTRUCTIONS.
ONLY ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS OR CERTIFIED COPIES OF THESE DOCUMENTS FROM THE ISSUING AGENCY
WILL BE ACCEPTED.
NOW, RATHER THAN MAILING THE IRS THESE IMPORTANT ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS, ESPECIALLY YOUR PASSPORT,
YOU HAVE THE OPTION TO WORK WITH,
A CERTIFIED ACCEPTANCE AGENT, OR C-A-A, WHO IS AUTHORIZED BY THE IRS TO HELP YOU APPLY
FOR AN ITIN.
CERTIFIED ACCEPTANCE AGENTS WILL REVIEW ANY DOCUMENTATION FOR YOU AND YOUR SPOUSE.
THEY CAN ALSO REVIEW PASSPORTS AND BIRTH CERTIFICATES FOR YOUR DEPENDENTS.
THEY WILL CERTIFY THAT YOUR ITIN APPLICATION IS CORRECT BEFORE SUBMITTING IT ALONG WITH
ALL DOCUMENTS TO THE IRS FOR PROCESSING.
YOU CAN ALSO GET HELP AT DESIGNATED IRS TAXPAYER ASSISTANCE CENTERS.
IF TAXPAYERS FILE A RETURN WITH AN EXPIRED ITIN, THEY WILL EXPERIENCE A DELAY IN PROCESSING.
AND SOME CREDITS, SUCH AS THE CHILD TAX CREDIT AND THE AMERICAN OPPORTUNITY TAX CREDIT, MAY
NOT BE ALLOWED UNLESS THE ITIN IS RENEWED.
FOR MORE INFORMATION ON CHANGES TO THE ITIN PROGRAM AND WHERE YOU CAN GET HELP, GO TO
IRS-DOT-GOV-SLASH-ITIN.
