USING TARGET DISK MODE on a Mac - Duration: 4:18.

Hi I'm Serge Siou and welcome to MacStudioA.
In this episode, Why It's A Good Idea To Set A Firmware Password On Your Mac.
No matter how elaborate your Mac login password might be, it's possible to gain access to
your precious and confidential files very easily without requiring your login password.
Basically, macOS has a feature called Target Disk Mode, once enabled, it allows you to
copy files at high speeds between two Macs that are connected via a Thunderbolt cable.
With target disk mode enabled on one Mac, it appears and functions as an external disk
on another Mac.
However, to prevent someone besides yourself from accessing your files, when enabling Target
Disk Mode, it's a good idea to set a Firmware Password on your Mac.
I won't go into how to set a Firmware Password on a Mac, as this was already covered in detail
on the video titled: "Protect Your Investment Mac Lock-Down".
The following demo will show, how to activate Target Disk Mode on a Mac when a Firmware
Password is not set and when a Firmware Password is set.
Time for a demo.
Soooooo, let's get started.
For this demo, I'll be using a Mac mini, a MacBook Air, and a Thunderbolt cable.
Let's first consider activating Target Disk Mode on the MacBook, when a Firmware Password
is not set.
Therefore, with the MacBook turned off, immediately after pressing the Power Button, press and
hold down the T key until a lightning bolt image floating around on the screen appears.
This is an indication that your MacBook is now in Target Disk Mode or in other words,
a glorified external hard drive.
Now, with Target Disk Mode enabled on the MacBook, simply connect a Thunderbolt cable
from the MacBook to the Mac mini.
As you'll notice, the Hard drive or drives from the MacBook appears on the Desktop of
the Mac mini.
Now simply drag and drop files that you want to copy.
Once done, eject the drives by dragging to Trash and then unplug the Thunderbolt cable.
To exit Target Disk Mode on the MacBook, press the power button.
As was shown, it was that easy to enable Target Disk Mode on a Mac when a Firmware Password
was not set in order to gain access to files and without requiring a login password.
However, if a Firmware Password was set on the MacBook, it is not possible to activate
Target Disk Mode by pressing the T key after pressing the power button as was shown earlier,
doing so, will just bring you to the login screen.
The only way to enable Target Disk Mode on the MacBook, is by signing in with your login
password.
Then, from System Preferences, click on the Startup Disk icon, enter your Admin password
to unlock the panel and click on the Target Disk Mode button.
From the pop-up dialogue window, click the Restart button.
After clicking the Restart button, you are asked to enter a Firmware Password.
Once entered, you'll see the floating lightning bolt image as shown earlier, and like before, simply
connect a Thunderbolt cable from one Mac to another to copy files.
Therefore, to prevent someone, besides yourself from accessing your precious files via Target
Disk Mode, watch video titled:"Protect Your Investment Mac Lock-Down" .

then is go into Settings > General, you'll have to go into Device Management.

need to do this to open it up.

10 DIY School Supplies {Easy}! Weird DIY Crafts - Hacks w/ Candy! Mini Notebook, Pens…Cool DIYs - Duration: 19:47.
hey guys welcome back to my channel - today I'm going to show you 10 DIY school supplies
inspired by candy and snacks! if you enjoy this video please click that like button and

The first DIY will Laffy Taffy candy pens. I just started by carefully opening a mini
Laffy Taffy candy wrapper. I will using ink from one of these mini pens
if you don't have a mini pen you can just cut down a regular size pen.
The next part I'm going to use a ziplock bag and also some green puffy paint. I started
by putting some puffy paint on the ziploc bag around the same size as the Laffy Taffy
piece then after that I placed the ink onto of the puffy paint and I put another layer
of puffy paint down. Once the ink is covered set that aside and
let that dry overnight. here is my pen once it was dry and I removed it from the ziploc
bag. Now I'm just going to take the Laffy Taffy wrapper and I'm going to wrap it back
around the puffy paint and glue it to secure it in place.
and now you have a fun new pen that looks like Laffy Taffy.
The next DIY will be a bubblegum crayon. I'm going to start by carefully removing the
top of the bubblegum wrapper and emptying out the gum. I'm going to be using 3 of the
bigger size pink crayons and I just started by removing the wrapper. After I removed all
the wrappers I placed them in a microwave safe container and melted the on 20 second
increments until they were fully melted. Be very careful when it comes out of the microwave
it is really hot. Next I'm going to place an ice pack underneath the bubblegum wrapper
then Im going to start pouring in the melted crayons into the wrapper - after it was filled
I placed it in the freezer for 20 minutes. Again be very careful cuz this is hot!
Here is mine after I took it out of the freezer. I cut a little piece off the top so I could
color with it. and that's all there is to these easy bubblegum
crayons. The next DIY project will bubblegum erasers.
to make these I'm going to use some of this amazing eraser clay. I took some of the pink
eraser clay and I started shaping it so it looked like little bubblegum pieces. once
I had my pieces they way I wanted them I baked them in the oven according to the package
instructions. Here are mine after they were done being baked.
then I just took the Dubble Bubble wrapper and wrapped them up. and that is how to make
these easy bubblegum erasers. the 4th DIY will be an edible bubblegum pencil
case. i'm going to model the pencil case out of
one of these bigger pieces of Dubble Bubble bubblegum.
I'm going to be using the cardboard tube from a giftwrap roll. I marked it off at 6 1/2
inches and cut it out. I printed out the label I will leave a link down below where you can
print this out and then I cut it out. I placed some glue on the back of the wrapper and secured
it to the cardboard tube. for the next part I'm going to be using a piece of blue paper
along with some contact paper to laminate it. I cut out half the sheet of blue paper
and laminated it. next I will be using these bead containers or lip balm containers I found
these at Walmart you just want to find ones that fit into the ends of the cardboard tube.
now I'm going to take the piece of blue paper and Im going to cut that in half one more
time. next I'm going to start glueing around the bead container and I'm going to secure
the piece of blue paper to that. I'm going to glue along the crease to glue the 2 pieces
together. now I'm going to take that and squeeze it in and twist it and cut off any excess.
then i just repeated that some process for the other side.
now you can place the bead containers into the cardboard tube like this then you can
add your pens, pencils and then you can twist off the caps of the bead containers and you
can add some Skittles or some tiny bubblegum and thats how you make this edible Dubble
Bubble bubblegum pencil case. The 5th DIY idea will be an edible cotton
candy pen. Im going to start with a piece of white cardstock
and then I'm just going to cut out a cone shape. now I'm going to fold it into the cone
shape and glue it together. I'm going to use the ink from one of these ballpoint pens.
since my ink was just a little bit to long for the cone I'm going to cut off the excess.
i placed some glue in the bottom and secured the pen to the cone. i traced around the cone
and then i cut that out. now I'm going to take the circle that i just cut out - place
that in the cone and glue it to secure it place. the reason for doing this is that i
don't want the cotton candy and the ink to come in contact with each other. here is what
mine looks like at this point. i will be using the cotton candy from this bag. i just took
some of the cotton candy and formed into a ball and stuck it on the top of the cone pressing
it in there so it would stay. and thats all there is to this cotton candy pen. if you
want you can place a bag over the cotton candy and tie a ribbon around it so it stays protected.
and you can keep refilling your cotton candy into your pen.
the next DIY project will be Bottle Pop markers. I'm going to start with an empty and clean
Bottle Pop. I removed the little plastic piece from the top. next i removed the piece from
inside. with a hot glue gun I'm going to make a hole in the center bottle and you will just
want to keep moving the glue gun around until you have a pretty good size hole that the
marker will fit through. i will be using these mini markers i pushed the marker through the
bottle top and then with some hot glue i secured it in place. and that is how you make this
bottle pop marker just put the cap back on the bottle pop and the marker won't dry out.
the 7th DIY will be a soda bottle pen and i will be making it in a Coca Cola bottle.
i will be using one of the mini hot sauce bottles like i used in the soda bottle lip
balm I will leave a link down below to the video if you would like to check it out. what
i did i throughly washed and cleaned out the mini hot sauce bottle. in a cup i mixed some
brown and black paint together until i got a color that closely resembled coca cola.
i poured the paint into the hot sauce bottled and swirled it around and let that dry over
night. here is mine once fully coated and dry. for this one I will be using one of these
mini pens if you don't have a mini pen you can cut down a regular size pen. i measured
the ink to the bottle to see what would fit and marked it off and then cut the excess
and i also did the same thing for the outside of the pen. i painted the cap with some red
acrylic paint. once the paint on the cap was dried i placed some hot glue in the cap and
secured the pen to the cap. i printed out the label i will leave a link down below and
then i cut it down to size. i flipped it over placed some glue on the back and secured label
to the bottle. and thats all there is to this easy Coca Cola bottle mini pen. and you can
use this idea to make your favorite soda bottle pen.
the 8th DIY will be a mini rainbow Oreo notebook. the first thing I'm going to do is make a
mold so I'm just going to take an oreo cookie and them I'm going to put some clear nail
polish on it and fully coat the one side of the oreo cookie. i took apart the cookie and
I'm going to use the side that has the clear nail polish on it. now I'm going to take a
piece of parchment paper and place my cookie on that then I'm going to take some hot glue
and fully coat the cookie and this will form the mold. once the entire cookie is coated
with hot glue i set that in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes. i took it out of the
refrigerator and i removed the cookie from the hot glue. i cleaned out the mold with
some warm water. I'm going to add some cornstarch to the mold so the clay doesn't stick to it.
now I'm going to take a piece of red polymer clay and push that into the side and then
I'm just going to repeat the same process with each color of the rainbow. i trimmed
off the excess around the side to make it a little easier to remove it from the mold.
after i removed it from the mold i still needed to trim a little bit more off around the sides.
i repeated that same process so i had 2 cookies
and then i placed those in the oven and baked according to the package instructions. to
make the notebook i traced around the oreo and cut out a whole bunch of circles i clipped
those together and applied some elmer's glue on the top to bind them together. on a piece
of foam i traced around the circles for the notebook and drew the 2 lines in the middle
and then i cut that out. and here is what i should look like once the glue was dried
on my notebook i unclipped that and now I'm just going to glue that notebook to the piece
of foam. then i glued the notebook to the oreo cookie. and thats how you make this diy
mini notebook that looks like a rainbow oreo cookie.
the 9th DIY will be a mini notebook inspired by Skittles. for this one I'm going to be
using one of these makeup containers i started by removing the piece from the middle. after
the piece was removed i washed and cleaned it out and then i painted it red you can paint
it any color of Skittle that you would like. i drew on the S for skittle and then with
a white painters pen i colored it in you can also use white acrylic paint for this. i cut
out some round circles to use for the notebook and i placed those inside and thats how you
make this easy skittles inspired mini notebook. the last DIY will be glue inspired by M & M
for this one I'm going to use the same makeup container as I did for the skittles and i
painted this one blue. i drew on the M and colored it in. for the next part I'm going
to use an elmer's glue stick and i just took and put that into the container and i just
pushed it down and then with a q tip i wiped all of the excess on the side. and thats all
there is to this easy glue inspired by the M & m's i hope you guys enjoyed all 10 of
