So I'm on my KICKR this morning ... by the way, if you don't have a WAHOO KICKR, it's an amazing smart
trainer. I know it's a lot of money but totally worth the investment. I'm on my
Zwift - also an amazing tool - and I start seeing comments like, "Boy, my legs are
really feeling it from the weekend." It's Tuesday, by the way. And, "I've got a 30-
minute run after this; that's gonna feel really good." You guys know what I'm
talking about; you see it on social media a lot. Things like, "oh my god, I'm so tired,"
"Dragging myself through this workout but I'm gonna do it," etc., etc.
Let's take a step back and say, why do we do it? Why do we make these comments? I
mean I've made them so I'm right there along with everyone else. I think it's
because we just need some recognition, right? You're so tired from whatever
workouts you've been doing but also from the stresses in your life, whether
it's your job, family ... whatever else is going on in your life. I'd rather you
start finding full satisfaction and recognition in you and only you. Come on,
I know many of you read those comments and you're thinking, "OK, that has
annoying triathlete written all over it." You know it, I know it and it's OK, we
all do it at times because we want that recognition for all of the sweat and
hard work that we know we're putting in on top of everything else going on in
our lives. If you're at the last few miles of your race ...
... mile 23 of your marathon ... that last little bit of your triathlon ... there's not
gonna be any social media, there's no Instagram, there's no Facebook; the only
person you can reach inside of in that moment
is you. You don't need to let anybody know what you're going through. Everybody
knows you're tired, everybody knows you've got major shit going on in your
life. Forget the comments. The only recognition
you need is from you. Let me know what you think - good or bad, as always. I'm rooting for
you even if I don't, you know like, give you a lot of kudos when you give me
those annoying comments. Have a safe ride Have a great day. Go do it - for you.
