Hi, guys.
FOG of GAMING here and welcome to SAVAGE.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds new 4 x 4 map has just been revealed in a limited alpha
test.
This first testing window opened today April 2nd at 7 pm PDT, and lasts until April 5th,
4 am PDT.
This map won't be available on the regular test servers tho, you can register on their
website if you already own the game in steam otherwise use the free code that you may find
in the video description.
The new map is part of the PUBG 2018 roadmap, the developers wanted to give players early
access to the new Jungle based map so that we can give as much feedback as possible.
The build is at a very early stage of development as you can see here, so you can expect some
of the buildings or surfaces in the world to have no textures yet.
It is also very likely that the names of some of the cities and camps on the map are not
final yet.
You can see that there are 3 main islands that are separated from each other by large
rivers.
This map was designed from the ground up to give players a faster paced match.
It is much smaller than Erangel and Miramar, so you can expect to get into fights more
often.
Having said that, I still encountered the same issue as on the main servers, and that
is the lack of a mid game.
All the action takes place in the very beginning and near the end of the game, not much happens
in between unless you chase the airdrops.
Luckily, since this is a small map, the mid game is a lot shorter, so the time between
the initial action and hopefully your chicken dinner is not that long.
There are plenty of larger compounds and areas, but there are many small villages and small
houses scattered all over the map.
This means that it is very likely to find buildings within the final circles of the
game, instead of just trees, hills, or open fields.
At the start of a match, it can be viable for some to land on these small areas to avoid
combat situations in crowded places.
You can use the equipment that you find here so that you can make your way towards one
of the bigger hot spots on the map and take your enemies down while they are busy looting
one of the many buildings, or you can pick them off while they are stuck in another fight.
In general, there is a lot of cover to be found on this map, a lot of trees, bushes,
buildings and elevation so you can easily flank your enemies.
The game is still in an alpha state that is why a lot of buildings look like checkered
boards and some rooms can give you the impression that there is no escape.
Most other buildings are still very basic, most of them consist of just one are 2 rooms
without anything in them except for the weapons and equipment lying around on the floor.
You are basically fighting in empty rooms, but that is what we should expect in an alpha
and I am sure that this will be improved.
I was very impressed with the work that they have done to improve the underwater experience.
It looks and feel amazing and it gave me the impression that I was actually swimming across
the river.
Even the shadows of the trees are nicely reflected under water.
I really like the elevation of this map, certain slopes are really steep but the movement speed
is still acceptable, it never feels slow and sluggish.
It is a pleasure to be able to climb one hill, go down one and then immediately climb another
in short succession.
This will put you in some interesting firefights so you better get used to your surroundings
so that you can take advantage of it.
I decided to take a boat and to drive around the entire island but it is much bigger than
I expected.
I did a quarter of the map in about 2 minutes and 30 seconds, so it will take approximately
10 minutes to drive around the entire island.
Let's jump into the airplane and I will show you the island from
the sky.
As you can see the new map has a lot of possibilities with the promise of a lot of firefights in
a short period of time.
I will start working on creating an in depth map guide, sort of a walkthrough about Savage,
if you subscribe and you turn the notifications on then you will be the first one to get access
to that video.
This was fog of gaming, thanks for watching and I will see you on Savage.
