Waching daily Apr 3 2018

Welcome to Art That Plays and Prays. I'm Ginger. Today I'll show you how to make

a junk journal using left over paint from acrylic pours. I'll also teach you how to

bind journal pages without sewing them together.

Some of you who may be familiar with acrylic pour paintings understand that so much paints

are wasted in this process. A lot of fluid paints spill over the edges of the canvas

or they drip as you work on the paintings. So in this video, I'll show you what you

can do with these leftovers because you don't have to throw them away.

For those who are not familiar with acrylic pouring, I'll give you the basics. We'll

be using several cups, plastic cups. First, we'll use Liquitex pouring medium. This

medium changes the consistency of acrylic paint and makes it less dense and flowable.

As you see here, I poured Liquitex pouring medium, about a third in a cup. Then in each

cup, I squirted a few drops of paint and vigorously mixed them together until there are no more

clumps of paint left. Now each paint color is prepared in their

individual cups. Then I'm using another empty cup to pour samples of each paint.

I'm layering them one on top of the other, until I have enough paint to work with.

I have here two canvas panels which I plan to use as covers for the junk journal.

Each one is 7 inches. The length is 7 inches and about 5 inches in width. I put them on top

of a wire grill which I got from my kitchen. Underneath is a cookie sheet lined with saran

wrap and we'll need this to collect the paint drips later on.

After flipping the cup on the canvas, just gently wiggle it side to side. Let the paint

flow and create patterns and swirls everywhere. Just be aware that how the painting looks initially,

like right now, may not necessarily be how it will look when the paint has dried later on,

because the pouring medium, it's so fluid and it will keep moving even if you

lay the canvas flat on a table. That's the reason why I elevated this canvas on this grill.

The paint will drip along the sides, and you don't want your canvas to stick to the table.

Also we want those drippings later. We'll be using those for the journal pages.

This acrylic pour, as you can probably guess by now, can be very messy. So you may want

to use gloves. Personally, I find the gloves very restricting to wear, so I took mine off.

But be warned though that the medium is very sticky, and can be a bit difficult to scrub

off your skin. I made the mistake of scrubbing my hands with the scouring pad and I kinda

hurt myself doing that. So if you're not allergic to latex, you may want to wear latex gloves.

Now what I've demonstrated here in this video are the paints my kids used in their

fine arts class. They used these in their own canvas paintings but they had some leftovers

after they were done. So I snagged those cups and decided to make my own junk journal.

Now don't be too intimidated by this process. If you think this is too fussy or too labor-intensive,

you don't have to make your junk journal this way. You can just paint or maybe draw

on your canvas panel for your cover or do any intuitive painting. Just splash wherever

you want to splash on your cover. That's fine. Or you can just go and cut scrapbook

paper for your journal pages. You don't have to follow what I will do later on. I'll

demonstrate it to you. But that's just optional. It's really up to you. I'm just showing

you some alternatives, and hopefully it can inspire you to create something that's unique

for you, using materials you have in your own house.

I have a little bit more paint left over in my cups, so I decided to add some details

to my canvas as you can see here. I'm using the wooden handle of my paint brush to drop

paint here and there. I'm not over-planning this. I'm just dropping acrylics here and

there, very randomly, to make it seem like my acrylic pour produced cells. My painting

however cannot produce cells because I didn't use silicone here as other artists do. Actually,

I don't like the idea of using a torch because I have a kid here who's afraid of fire,

even if it's just a tiny candle flame. So I wanted to enjoy this moment and not have

a kid freak out behind me. So I just settled for a plain acrylic pouring medium. No silicones.

No torches. And I think I can still make it work.

See all the beautiful leftover paint we have on this tray? It's a shame to throw them

away, right? So I grabbed some heavy gauge watercolor paper and swooshed them in this

sea of color here. You can see what I'm doing. You'd be surprised by the patterns

you can create with this technique. And if you don't want to dip your paper on the

tray, you can also just directly pour paint on your paper. Just pour wherever you want.

And just smudge them whichever way you want. You can play with it with your fingers or

just use a paint brush. It's all up to you. The goal is to just make use of these leftover

paints and dip our paper there, so we don't waste. We don't waste the paint.

I'm dipping many sheets of paper because these will form the pages of our journal.

Later, we'll cut them to size, punch holes, and bind them together into a book.

When I was done dipping paper on paint, I set them aside to dry. It took a few hours

before they were fully dry. Afterwards, I used this Tri Art Liquid Glass to seal the

canvas. I simply poured it on top of the canvas covers. I'm so sorry I wasn't able to

open the video when I was doing that, but it's very easy. If you're going to do

this, there's no need for you to use a brush.

Now what does the liquid glass do? It makes the canvas look very laminated. It looks like

plastic. It's glossy and shiny and smooth. This is an optional step, so you don't have

to do it if you don't want to. But liquid glass does make the journal look very special.

Now if you notice here, my canvas has a lot of smudges on the back. So we'll have to

cover that later on with these acrylic paper that we just made.

See all of these beautiful sheets of acrylic-painted paper? I love the textures we created here.

Now our goal is to cut these into sheets of 7 inches in length by 5 ½ inches wide, a

half inch bigger than the cover. These will become the pages of our junk journal, so we'll

punch holes on them, and later, we can assemble the journal using rings, binder rings, to

hold them together.

Now again, with the liquid glass, if you want to try that out, you don't need a brush.

Just pour the liquid directly into the canvas and wiggle the canvas just like we did with

the acrylic pour. We want the whole surface covered, because the liquid glass will seek

its own level. It's just like water. It's very fluid. It's watery, so eventually,

when it dries, it's going to really be flat on the surface.

Now to bind the book together, we'll need a hard cardboard. I'm recycling the cardboard

from my watercolor paper pad. It's thick and sturdy. And my plan is to cut this a little

wider than the canvas panel so I can punch holes on them too. And we'll need two of

these cardboard pieces … one for the front and one for the back of the journal. I'll

glue this on the back of the canvas panel to cover up the paint smudges. The cardboard

looks too plain, so I want to cover this with the acrylic pour paper, the one we just made,

like this one here.

Make sure that if you do this project at home, that you will use a strong craft glue. Maybe

if you have double-sided tape, that will work too. So if you see here, I'm using my acrylic

paper, the one that we'll use to cover the cardboard, and I'm punching holes on them

also. Then we'll glue that on the cardboard, and then that cardboard, we'll glue to the

back of the canvas.

Once we're done gluing the cardboard, we can set aside these covers and work on our

junk journal pages. I'm cutting all of our acrylic pour paper the same size as the cardboard.

It's also 7 inches by 5 ½ inches. It doesn't have to be too precise. As you can see here,

I'm not even using a ruler. I'm just tracing the cardboard then I use this cutter to trim.

It's okay to use scissors. You don't need to buy a cutter to create this project.

Now after cutting all the paper and punching holes on all of them, I arranged them back

to back. Now the goal is to glue them back to back so that when we flip the pages of

our journal, we won't see anything besides the paintings we did. There won't be any

white, empty pages anywhere. So more or less, this is how our journal will look, from front

to back cover, attached together with these pink metal rings. You can find these metal

rings anywhere, in Walmart, your local school supplies stores, or dollar store. They're

not difficult to find.

If you noticed, there's still this tiny portion of the cardboard that will be visible

even after we glue the canvas cover. So I want to patch that up using some of our leftover

paper. I randomly picked from my scraps and glued the strips here. I trimmed off the excess

paper so I'll have a clean edge. Now this paper will cover the holes of the cardboard,

so afterwards, we have to re-punch the holes.

To finish off this journal cover, the last step is to glue the canvas on the cardboard.

This is a bit tough to do so make sure you have a strong glue. You may need to clamp

them together with a bulldog clip or a huge paper clip until the glue dries. So we have

to do this for both the front and the back cover, like you see here.

Now the cover is done! See how cute this is? You can't even detect the cardboard we used.

It's squished between the canvas and the acrylic paper, making our cover really thick.

The next step is to glue the journal pages, back to back. I had to brood over this step

quite a bit because I wanted the two-page spread to have coordinated colors. But I realized,

all the pages are paintings that can stand on their own. So it didn't matter anymore

which pages are matched. Here we go with assembling the book. Just clip the rings in and we're

done!

Now, we can end this journal here, if you want to. But I like to show you what I did

to further decorate the pages. Again, you don't have to do this. You don't have to

do it this way, if you already feel overwhelmed by the process. If there's a takeaway for

you in this video, I hope that it's the idea of how to bind a book with a simple puncher

and ring, or maybe how you can actually use a canvas panel as book cover.

For junk journal enthusiasts who are up for the challenge, though, I'm showing you here

what I planned for my journal. I wanted to sort of populate the pages with bible quotes

or encouraging messages I picked up from my readings … some from Joel Osteen, or from

Pocketfuel and other devotionals. In essence, I'm using this journal not as a collage

for junk, but as keeper of blessings, so to speak. I want to go back into this book whenever

I need hope.

So what I did, I picked up old postcards, You see here, I tore them randomly, and grunged

them up. Since the acrylic pour pages are too colorful, it's impossible to write directly

on them. I'll use these postcards and cardstock to write my quotes. So as you can see, I'm

just messing them up. A fellow artist called this "intuitive painting" where you're

just throwing colors wherever you want them or however way you want them. So I'm splattering

paint, or letting paint drip with the dropper. Like see this green smudged paint drop here.

I'm smudging with distress inks, or just rubbing the entire black stamp pad on top

of the postcards as you see me do here. This is entirely up to you. There are no rules

except to have fun! Like, seriously. Just do anything you want with the materials you have.

Just throw them in. Use bubble wrap if you want to. If you want to draw circles,

or rub your paint. I used a lot of distress paints here, and some metallics as well.

So you can see. I wrote all my quotes here on these painted sheets. And later on,

I'll glue them on to the journal pages.

This was the black cardstock I was writing on a moment ago. All I did was to throw paint

on it randomly, just like what I did with the post cards. There's really no rhyme

or reason behind this. I just smudged as carelessly as possible. This is the kind of project where

it's perfectly okay to make a mess.

Then I used this metallic bronze Liquitex ink to paint the edges of the journal.

It's a fine detail I just wanted to add, to kinda dress up my journal and make it look like

those gold leaf gilded classic books. Then for the cover, I also painted the edges with

teal to sort of match the color of the canvas. Remember, this was the cardboard we used.

So I needed to conceal the edges with paint.

Here is the finished junk journal. I hope you enjoyed watching this process.

It was long but definitely a project that's fun to build.

So thank you, friends, for joining me in another episode of Art That Plays and Prays.

How To Write Your First Book - Duration: 4:03.

Hi... I'm Judy Machado-Duque author of Life Purpose Playbook and founder of

Productivity Goddess. In this video I'm going to share with you three tips to

bring your book to life. So, make sure you watch this video until the end so that

you can get a copy of this amazing workbook startup kit. So, let's begin. Tip

number one creates the cover of your book first. Wayne Dyer used to talk about

this all the time before he was ready to write a new book he would always create

the cover first, so he would find an image create the cover and put his name

on the cover so that the book it looked as though the book was already written

and he would place that cover on his desk as inspiration for him as he would

write the book, I did exactly the same thing

thanks to Wayne Dyer when I wrote my book the life purpose playbook which is

a planner so when I wrote my book the very first thing I did was found I knew

I wanted a mandala image sacred geometry. So, I found this image and then I had the

cover designed so that it included my name so that I too could have this

incredible inspiration on my desk as I was completing this book. A great place

to go to find some great images as possibilities for the cover of your book

is think stock just type in whatever you're thinking animals mandela's

whatever it is that you'd like to see on the cover of your book and there will be

thousands upon thousands of options for you. Step number two is to create a

skeleton of your book so what this means is that you will actually take a piece

of paper or on your computer and in bullet form put down all of the ideas

that you'd like to include in this book all of the main themes or ideas that you

would like to include in your book and so once you've completed that you now

have each of your chapters laid out. Step number three is to make a commitment to

start writing your book I can't believe how many people use the excuse of not

knowing how to publish the book or needing to know how to publish the book

before they can start writing the book don't even worry about that part I

promise you that's the easiest part in this whole process just start writing

your book you have a story to share and the person who needs to read your

book your finished book more than anyone in this whole world is you, you will not

believe the healing journey that you will go through in writing this book. So,

make sure you find someone or a group to help you to become accountable to this

new goal this new commitment of yours without accountability most of us just

get lost and distracted in social media for hours on end every single day, so

join us for seven day trial in the goddess temple and see for yourself if

our weekly calls can really help and support you in staying committed and

excited every week and one final bonus idea think about whether you can turn

your book into an interactive workbook maybe. I have found personally that most

of my breakthroughs in seminars or in reading books have come from actually

stopping and writing my thoughts and my feelings and my ideas after an important

message to create a breakthrough for me so consider how can you turn your book

into a workbook so there you go now you know three tips to help you bring your

book to life fast. Now would you like some more information on how to turn

your book into an interactive workbook. Well I've got an amazing free workbook

startup kit, your five step guide to creating an engaging workbook created by

Teresa McNeely who happened to also design my book the Life Purpose Playbook.

Why I Use a Free WISTIA Account With the FOUR PERCENT CHALLENGE - Duration: 12:41.

hey for percenters how are you doing i hope you're having a great day this

Friday Nigel Yates here and I just want to

share something with you that's I've been watching session 16 and Vick's

talking about video and explaining the importance of video and and how you need

to get comfortable being on camera and how important it's going to be moving

forward that we are able to create content create videos youtube channels

East stage and piece all that together so there's something you ought to share

which is Mike must have a Friday Golden Nugget and I think I talked in a

different video where I said you don't know what you don't know this is another

one of those things where if I share it with you then it might just give you an

idea or an option for setting something up in a different way that you haven't

previously considered before I show you very quickly just that you know I carry

I carry my gold card around wherever I go I actually live in fear of leaving

the house and bumping into somebody and say are you in the 4% have you got your

gold card on you and I go yes I carry it at all times so Who am I think is a

great idea I came across this before again through ill Nightingale Bob

Proctor people like that and I'm a firm believer in actually writing it down and

I did a post earlier just from a book I'm reading three feet from gold where

where they reinforce the message of a dream is just a dream until you write it

down and then it becomes a goal so my dream is on the back of this card and

what isn't a secret is the Golden Nugget I'm going to share with you today I'm

going to talk about whiskey and most people think now you're whist you have

to pay to use them why would I use Wistia it's actually got a couple of

really cool features which you probably don't know about not just the fact you

can have a free account even though it's only a three video limit and again folks

say to me but three videos that's no good I've got ten or twenty or you know

I'm going to create a lot of content the reason they're good to me but if you

were to consider which are your three most

valuable most important videos then this might be something you want to look at

you might have videos which for instance introduce a lead magnet or offer up

something a product or a service a PDF report hold that thought

you might have a video which is a bridge page and he wants to feature that

prominently you know so I'm talking about videos you would rate as being

perhaps your most important ones they could be your signature video on your

East stage site on your YouTube channel and what I'm talking about let me just

jump into so you can have a free Wistar your account for three videos okay

here's one I prepared earlier and I think if I just make sure I'm kept out

of the way over here or I could just disappear altogether for a moment I was

going to play this but but watch what happens this isn't about my video okay

this is just like a test be the test piece this is about the feature I've

enabled on this video so pay close attention back there that's what I want

to show you okay and essentially what we have here is an opt-in form embedded

into the video and I think this is a great idea that you can use I mentioned

if you had a PDF for example so you could be narrating a video that says

okay I got this PDF for you the seven strategies for success which i think is

gonna change your life and turn turn around your future your hopes your

dreams and girls and dad out of that fill in the details below to get this

PDF now and this form pops up on the video you see what I'm saying I think

that's that's a really powerful feature on the right video if you inject it at

the right spot and I'll show you exactly how in just a moment but this can go at

the very beginning or the very end or the time of your choosing so you can

sequence the video and then something like this will make perfect sense when

it pops up and it doesn't have to be mandatory there is a a skip option which

I haven't enabled here but I'll show you how so within Wistia I

have a project called the 4% challenge within that project is this one video

the one you've just seen here so I'm now in the sort of the main video call it's

a dashboard I suppose editing screen I'm going to use the customize option here

and I'll just show you so we get all these options here what I would also say

about Wistia it's got some great statistics behind the videos for watch

time so I'm not going to go into that now but just it's another feature people

really like one of the reasons businesses use Wistia because you know

how long people are watching videos so you know when Vic says about the

stranger secret he knows how much it's being watched and for how long because

he's using whiskey on it it'll give him all the data in the background but so

we've got all these options here and if you look down here look timeline actions

and that's what I'm using and within whisky or what I'm actually using it's

called turn star that's what you saw just a moment ago and I'll just quickly

run you through the settings that they're fairly simple well actually what

I'll do obviously the most important thing and just to save time I've opened

the page up here mines integrated with get response it's my primary integration

it's connected so it's just an API key copy and paste API key you've all done

that before and just for assurance you know if you're using Aweber or any of

these other services it's got Infusionsoft MailChimp ontraport that

you can integrate all of those with Wistia so the email address that gets

entered here will go to a list of your choosing okay I'll get response list I

would simply choose something like that my four percent challenge prospects list

and that's set up there sorry I'm in the way there we go right so here is where

you set the timing of where you want the video I set mine at two seconds just

just as a demonstration you can turn on or off the first and

last name options so it's just a little toggle switch there you can see it's

gone you can edit the text here on so it'll change what's on the screen

I just know whatever you want I'm not going to play with that now but you get

the idea you can edit that text to be whatever you want similarly you have the

lower text here which is this part of the screen here you can complete that

for whatever you want and as I've just shown you you choose

your integrated list from the autoresponder so I think that works

really well and is a cool feature and you can visit position it's as I've said

at the time of their choosing so that's the turnstile option there are others to

which I'll quickly show you you can add an annotation link which is literally

just you've got the Wistia link there but you see it pops up here here's a

link to click you get out of the text so it's literally I guess you could mention

in the video you know you could say if you want access now just click the link

above and go straight there it's up to you how you integrate it but it's again

it's another powerful feature just for adding to your video and one that I also

like is the call to action so this is coming at the end of the video and again

you can edit the text you could add an image maybe you could prepare an image

so maybe it's something like canva create an image that you like which is

your call to action with some big arrows saying click the button below and then

you just add the image here and how that is the sort of end card of your video I

know you can do similar in YouTube but this is a great way of doing it or you

can just have the text and literally put a link in here and if I was to just type

a link it would I mean I don't need to go into all the details of adding a link

but should come up on screen as a as a link to click in there and you can have

the show or re-watch button Machel either thing come up

it does works I have tested maybe obviously my own engine they're not the

text one yeah so it doesn't actually show the link as such is the text on

screen which is clickable so whatever link you put in here is the destination

that that text will take you to or the image or HTML if that's what you've

added so I've used it in the past where I put an image in as I said before with

the big red arrow is pointing down and there's the image that's clickable and

in this case the text is clickable too so that would just take you to whatever

you know destination URL you put in the link here and you can turn on or off the

re-watch button down here so some great little settings I mean that's three sort

of features you can use there which I think could be of interest to you so

you've got the call to action which is you know typically an end screen doesn't

have to be but typically it's an end screen you've got the annotation link

which can pop up here I'll just bring myself back into view here so the

annotation link pops up here or the turnstile which is basically the

integrated email opt-in form and I think that that's the one that I find

interesting is just coming up with ideas and scenarios where you might use that

like I said if you have a PDF or it could be anything but if you have you

could be talking in the video and say write to get this thing now put your

email your name in the in the box below or and then that just comes up on to

screen I think I said that's quite neat could be something you might want to

play with just as an example that the on the on the help now here's just an image

from a video this is Wistia zone help section about the calls to action which

is really what what we're dealing with here

interacting with viewers with the timeline calls to actions and I just

like that image with a with this little annotation link up here just like you

know pointing you'd have to figure out left from right when you're doing your

video before you start but once you've got that once you've worked that out

then you know your left from right you could be onto a real winner there so

again like I said at the start you don't know what you don't know so here's

that's three three little strategies tips ideas that you can use with Wistia

I you know up until recently I've always thought YouTube YouTube YouTube using

the YouTube editor or whatever and or you know different ways to try and add

in screens or just subscribe to my channel options all that kind of stuff

so this is just slightly different approach as I say for free you can put

three videos in there that will get you up and running if they're your three as

a you know three important videos for products for services for for East stage

for bridge page or however you want to use them you might just get a bit of

extra leverage using these call calls to action I've probably said enough about

that typically like always my short video lasts longer than I intended but I

hope you find that it just useful information why am i sharing this hey

what does Earl Nightingale say contribute to prosperity and you will

prosper in return so I hope in some small way I've helped I help my fellow

for percenters have become prosperous that's there we go so on that note

signing out now have a great day have a great weekend

stick with the challenge and joy I'm loving each day so far that daily pill

has become quite addictive any questions let me know get in touch and as always

happy to try and help take everyone be awesome

Sickness Wellness Fitness Continuum - Duration: 2:49.

This week, April 2nd through the 8th, is National Public Health Week sponsored by

the American Public Health Association. As part of that, I was inspired by TraciAnn

Hoglind, who is a BU MPH student, to share some health and wellness-related

information with you. I'll post a new video each day, just like she's doing, and

will wrap up the week this Saturday with a special announcement about an

upcoming program that I'm designing. Today's topic comes to you from

Greg Glassman, the founder of CrossFit, and it has to do with the "Sickness /

Wellness / Fitness Continuum." Many of you know that I've been doing CrossFit for a

while, but I assure you that this information is not specific to CrossFit.

In fact, I'm committed to sharing information that's beneficial for people

regardless of their fitness routines. With that said, let's switch to the

Continuum: Sickness / Wellness / Fitness. These are all measures of the same thing:

our general health. Each point on the continuum represents various

measurements, including: blood pressure, resting heart rate, body fat percentage,

bone density, cholesterol, flexibility, muscle mass, mental health, though it's

harder to measure, and the list goes on. Towards Sickness you'll find chronic

diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. Those who fall in

the Wellness category would fall within what is often called the normal range in

health care, with respect to things like blood pressure, body fat percentage,

cholesterol, and mood stability. Toward the other end of the continuum is where

we find Fitness, again represented by various measurements, including: muscle--

increased muscle mass, flexibility, and coordination; and decreased body fat

percentage and resting rate--resting heart rate. These lists are not

exhaustive. Living our lives in a way that puts us closer to Fitness offers a

protective factor against Sickness. Think about it: if a person who falls in the

Fitness category gets sick, they have to move through Wellness before they get to

Sickness. Contrast this with someone who gets sick but who started in the "normal"

Wellness range. They move more easily to Sickness.

So how do we get ourselves over to Fitness? It's about quality and quantity

of movements and nutrition. It's not just about eating less and moving more

(quantity), like we see again and again from fad diets and big sugar

corporations. It's the quality of our movements and our calories that matter too.

Look if it was easy, we'd all have done it by now. We'd all be deemed fit

and protected against chronic diseases. It's not easy, but it is possible. Ideally

we'll all be moving more exercising to the extent that we're all physically

able. In another video this week, I'll talk about some ways we can increase our

activity levels despite the busy lives we lead.

It can be done!

How to Say No to Your Children - Duration: 3:59.

Many of us parents have experienced trying to tell our children "no",

only to be met with arguing, giving us a hard time or refusing to accept our decision.

How do you teach children that "no" means "no"?

The most important thing is being consistent and sticking to what you said.

When parents are inconsistent,

children learn not to take them seriously

and sometimes even become confused.

When parents are consistent, it is easy to teach children that "no" means "no".

There are three main reasons why parents find it hard to be consistent.

First, they may be busy and not paying attention to what their children are doing.

For example, suppose the rule is the TV must be off at 8 pm every night.

If the parents are busy, they may not realize until 8:30 pm

that the children are still watching TV and need to be sent to get ready for bed.

Then if the next time, it is 9 pm by the time they notice,

the children learn that the 8 pm TV-off rule means nothing.

If the parents are consistent and pay attention to the time,

their children will learn that the rule does mean something.

Second, sometimes parents are not in the mood to deal with the consequences of saying "no".

Suppose they have gone out to a basketball game,

having warned the children beforehand that they would not be buying candy tonight.

The children may have agreed,

but once they arrived, started asking for money for candy.

When their parents reminded them of the agreement,

the children's arguing back causes the parents

to become self-conscious in public.

Because they are embarrassed, they end up giving the children money.

The children learn that it is worth arguing with their parents in public

and that their parents' "no" does not really mean "no".

It is important that parents stick to their word,

even if they are out in pubic and people are watching.

Third, sometimes...suppose the children are running around at the movies

and won't sit quietly.

The parents might tell them that they will go home if they are not quiet,

but in reality, not really mean it.

When nothing happens after the second, third, fourth or fifth warning to sit down,

the children learn that the parents' threats are meaningless

and there is no consequence for their behavior.

As those three examples show, being consistent is essential.

It is easy to do this by remembering the three "F's":

"F" for fair,

"F" for "firm",

and "F" for friendly.

"Fair" means making sure your reason for saying "no"

or for setting up a rule is fair.

"No TV for one year" as a consequence

A one-week suspension of watching TV is fair though,

if it is explained clearly.

"Firm" means being consistent.

You don't need to waste time discussing, negotiating,

explaining or defending yourself.

Just be firm and say "no".

"Friendly" means that when you say "no",

you don't need to be angry or lose your temper.

When you are angry, you end up teaching your children through fear.

Be friendly.

I know there are many different situations

and it is not always easy

to be consistent with saying "no",

especially when children have different needs.

If you have any questions or if you would like to discuss

ideas for how to deal with saying "no",

feel free to contact us here at Deaf Counseling Center.

>>RAFEEO: [Lionel Richie impression] Alright you cannot go off your guard. Alright? Because if you do that then

>>RAFEEO: you're pretty much toast, cuz Lionel Richie knows all about Fortnite. I'm going

>>RAFEEO: to die slowly. Alright let's wait here because this

>>RAFEEO: seems like the kind of spot where peeps would come out to play a little bit of

>>RAFEEO: hide and death seek- what the? You scared me! Dang, that really- can you stop

>>RAFEEO: I just found a freaking minigun. Oh my god, it only has like twelve bullets in it. But you know what? Bullets don't matter. They're jumping. Oh come on man. I just want to kill one person. [British accent] Oh hello.

>>RAFEEO: [British accent] Hello sire. I could see you. It's so hard. Oh I see you. I see you. Oh! I hit him. I hit him! They got freakin shields. Stop moving.

>>RAFEEO: Come on. Yep okay. You know what? I'm just gonna go down there. I'm getting impatient.

>>RAFEEO: I'm going to find ya. I'm going to go straight- oh he's coming over here now.

>>RAFEEO: You know what, I'm gonna be ready. I don't even care.

>>RAFEEO: Oh there's the thingy right there. The thingy. First thing, what is that? The airstrike?

>>RAFEEO: What is that? I've played enough Call Of Duty to know that that's an airstrike. Come on boy.

Masters 2018 [ masters 2018 pairings [ masters 2018 tee times [ masters sleepers 2018 ] - Duration: 4:48.

All you need to know about the 2018 Masters Tournament, including day-by-day results and analysis from Augusta National Golf Club.

Kevin Van Valkenburg: With Tiger Woods set to descend upon Augusta National, another generation of fans will get to witness some golf magic that seemed, not so long ago, improbable.

Bob Harig: Finally, Tiger Woods enters the Masters with positive vibes, which is all he can ask for at this point.

The Dominant 20: In celebration of ESPN The Magazine's 20th anniversary, we honor the 20 most dominant athletes of the past 20 years. Topping the list: Tiger Woods. Why? He explains to Marty Smith the keys to those 13 major wins from 1999 to 2008.

Bob Harig: Justin Rose has some perspective after his "hard loss" to Sergio Garcia in last year's Masters and hopes to rebound from defeat and the nagging injuries from a year ago.

Player Confidential: What would it take for a pro golfer to not play at the Masters? Michael Collins asked several players -- some were contemplative, while others had no choice but to laugh at such a question.

Bob Harig: Defending champion Sergio Garcia will look to join an elite group as he vies for back-to-back Masters victories, but he isn't the only international star who could make waves at the 2018 Masters.

Aish Kumar: A dramatic rise in the world rankings (from 571 to 68 in four months), some impressive wins and an invitation to the Masters: We catch up with India's Shubhankar Sharma to talk about all of it.

Every golfer dreams of what it would be like to play at the Masters. We've all heard the stories of what pros feel when that envelope shows up in their mailbox on a fall afternoon. But what would it take for a player not to go to Augusta National?

In this special Masters edition of Player Confidential, we thought we'd have a little fun, so I asked that exact question: What would Augusta National Golf Club have to do for you not to play in the Masters?

Some players were contemplative, and others had no choice but to resort to humor; but either way, the expressions on some of their faces as they pondered the question were even better than their answers.

"I've done three full interviews today and that's the best question I got all day."

"Not give me an invitation. Other than that? They would have to talk bad about my mom. ... Yeah, just say something bad about my mom and we're done. You're dead to me."

"Nothing. I'm going no matter what. Maybe if they stopped playing it at Augusta National?" "Not have a purse."

Tesla just made it easier to access Autopilot in your Model 3 sedan - Duration: 2:41.

The autonomous car industry has been under intense scrutiny in the last few weeks, following

a self-driving Uber vehicle's fatal crash with a pedestrian and a more recent Tesla

Model X car accident that killed the driver while Autopilot was engaged.

And as carmakers and technologists alike look for ways to mitigate the danger involved with

autonomous vehicles, Tesla is looking to make it a bit easier to control its Autopilot feature.

The company recently released an update that adjusts the controls for the self-driving

option from the center infotainment console to the easier-to-access steering wheel.

That way, drivers should be able to keep their eyes on the road as they adjust Autopilot's

speed and other aspects — something that they — a bit shockingly — were unable

to do before.

The update will be rolled out to Tesla's Model 3, a car that has been in high demand

(but low production) for months on end.

Because the car is meant to be as minimalist as possible, different features on the car

aren't actually labeled.

That means that the controls on the vehicle's steering wheels can actually be changed depending

on the driver's needs (or Tesla's whims).

As per the latest update, when you're in Traffic-Aware Cruise Control mode, you'll

just need to roll the right-hand scroll button either up or down to increase or decrease

your speed.

In order to adjust the distance between your own car and the one in front of it, push the

right button either to the left or the right.

While you can still adjust these same settings from the touchscreen, this update adds some

additional functionality and control to the driving experience.

Tesla noted in its update notes that the left scroll button will now allow you to "adjust

your Model 3 side mirrors and steering wheel.

Start by tapping the Controls icon on the bottom left corner of the touchscreen and

then tap Quick Controls > Adjustments."

You can also adjust your mirrors by tapping Mirrors and then selecting the Left or Right

mirror icon.

"Then, scroll the left button up or down, or press it left or right."

You can similarly adjust the steering wheel using the same process (you'll need to tap

the Steering Wheel option, of course).

Running for 1 Hour a Day Makes You Live Longer - Duration: 8:16.

Running for 1 Hour a Day Makes You Live Longer

Exercising is so good for you. Nobody can deny it.

And running is particularly wonderful cardio exercise.

Additionally, running an hour a day can actually improve and lengthen you life.

What are you waiting for? Get out there and run!.

The advantages of running

Running is in style.

You probably see people running in the park, in the streets, and in marathons.

However, what you may not have known is that running can raise your life expectancy.

And, according to a study published in the US National Institutes of Health, runners have a 25 to 40% lower risk of premature death.

The study claims that running an hour a day can add 7 years onto your life.

If you do the math, a person who runs Monday through Saturday for a month adds 168 hours onto their life, or a week more of existence.

Ao, if you keep this habit up for a year, youll live 12 weeks longer.

After all, its a simple calculation: 1 extra week of life for each month you run one hour daily from Monday to Saturday.

When you compare the life expectancy of a runner with a non-runner, the non-runners live up to 3 years less than runners.

And the best thing is that it doesnt matter how fast or how long you run in that hour.

Now it doesnt mean that running is the fountain of youth, because we all get old eventually.

But it is good to know that this habit can be good for you in the long-term.

Also, another interesting finding from the study is that the advantages of running arent the same as biking or walking.

While doing any of these is good for you, they wont have the same positive impact on your longevity.

Of course if you want to reap the benefits of running, youll have to eat a healthy balanced diet and stay away from bad habits like smoking and drinking.

Exercise is good for you in so many ways, and were still discovering more of them, even if we dont know for sure how much each type of exercise lengthens your life expectancy.

Its clear that it all depends on things like, for example, if you exercise lightly, moderately, or intensely, how old you are, your condition, etc.

What are the advantages of running?

In addition to extending your life expectancy (as if that werent enough), running has many other advantages.

From helping you lose weight to improving your endurance and making you more agile and flexible, here are the advantages of running:.

1. It improves your cartilage

Some people think that running is bad for your knees and that the pounding wears down your cartilage, but the truth is that it has the complete opposite effect.

People who run regularly have a much lower risk of developing arthritis in their legs.

2. It improves your hearing

It may sound a bit odd, but theres a scientific basis for it.

When you run, you get blood flowing throughout your body, including your ears.

If your ears get the nutrients they need, youll hear better.

3. It raises your pain threshold

People who run several times a week can handle pain better than people who dont run.

Not just pain from injuries to the legs, but also in other parts of the body.

Headaches, dental procedures, and shots might not feel as bad to runners.

4. It improves your skin

Running helps you release toxins through your sweat.

It also forces you to hydrate more since youre working hard.

Its ideal for healthier, youthful skin.

5. It regenerates your muscles

Running isnt just good for your cartilage, but also for your muscles.

Even now people think that muscle mass is lost after a certain age.

However, people who run can create new muscle mass because the exercise speeds up the production of cells that do this creation.

Therefore running could be linked to a postponement of muscle degeneration due to age.

6. Its relaxing

When you finish a run, youre tired but also happy and relaxed.

You get home and lounge on the couch to read or watch some television, putting your problems and work and stress aside.

But if youve had a hard day at work or youre anxious about something, the best thing you could do is moderate or intense exercise.

7. It strengthens your bones

If you add medium or high level intensity exercise to your routine, youll be increasing your bone density.

Thus you will lower your risk of fractures and the much-feared osteoporosis in later years.

Your bones will be stronger and more solid if you run an hour a day.
