Sermon Clip: "Remind yourself of why Jesus had to be struck for you." - Duration: 3:35.
What he's saying is - and this is fascinating,
God,
is going to strike Jesus.
Humankind killed Jesus in front of the veil historically,
but what was actually happening was God -
we've got to get our brains here, because
we tend to pitch God as meek and mild and he would never -
the Bible actually says that the Father struck his son.
Struck him.
It was driven
by God himself.
Because, as we talked about that last week, that's how bad our sin is.
And some of you, you have to understand that
that Jesus Christ was struck on a cross.
Scattering the sheep, yes, but the Shepherd was struck by God himself.
The wrath of God fell on him so that it wouldn't have to fall on you.
That's what you should sing about.
That's what you should have glory in.
That's what your whole life needs to be defined by.
He took your place. He substituted himself for you
and all your messed up...the way -
listen, you don't think I know I'm a messed up?
I'm an awfully, look - as a parent?
When I look at the cross I'm like, "he died for my mistakes, he died for Jurassic Park [parenting mistake]."
He died for the mistakes. He died for the mistakes I make every single day of my life.
And listen, you have to be humble enough.
Let the scandal humble you.
Some of you walk in here, you think you're so educated, you're so rich, you're so comfortable,
That nothing could ever scandalize you. Listen -
Be reminded of what you actually are, how narcissistic and self involved you are
and why the Shepherd had to be struck for you.
He had to be struck for you. That's how bad you are.
You know, every time I go and speak somewhere and they introduce me
they always love to pump your tires.
So I'll go speak at a church and it's like,
"And ladies and gentlemen, coming up to the stage now is Mark Clark, his name rhymes,"
"he has a best selling book,"
"he has a big church,"
"people listen to his podcast all over the universe."
Alright? And they do all this crazy stuff.
And you know what I do in the first 3 minutes?
I tell them I have tourette syndrome
so my face will be messed up and my body's going to click around.
I have obsessive compulsive disorder which means when my kids (you know this), brought me their
Easter eggs that they had blown all the yolk out of years ago,
that fragile egg,
and my first daughter brought it, I held it,
because of my obsessive compulsive disorder I have to test everything.
And so I crushed it.
And then my second daughter brought her egg to me and said, "daddy, look at mine!"
And I took it, and as she was off crying and walked away, I crushed it.
Yeah, yeah. That's right. That's me. I did that.
I tell them that.
And I tell them that I won't ride - I'm scared to ride rollercoaster.
I don't like flying.
My wife built everything in our house, and she's smarter than me.
So don't be impressed.
He got struck for me
because I'm a disaster.
And some of you don't even know it.
Some of you don't remind yourself of why he would ever have to be struck for you and you think you're so good.
You need to understand your own need. That's why he died, that's why he rose again.

Intro part A - Duration: 10:35.
Hello and welcome to my introduction video
for my video seminar
called Speaking and Speech.
I'd like to take a moment
to introduce myself, so that you know
why — who is teaching this class and
why you should be watching it.
My name is Yifat Shilo
My nickname is Kiki. I can tell you why later.
For now, let's just say that I have been teaching in Korea
English as a second language, for five years.
I started out in kindergarten and I worked through
all the different levels, all the way to business English.
So I have experience teaching small children and adults.
From all my experience,
I've come to understand
teaching English in a certain way
and I will be teaching you speaking and speech…
Not as in actually using language with your mouth, but
speech - as in giving a speech or public speaking.
These two things are not the same,
and I will explain more later, in the first lesson.
For now just know that I have five years experience
but I am an amateur video teacher…
So if you don't hear so well, or the lighting is not great…
That's the reason.
I will be putting up subtitles,
which, hopefully, you can turn on and off.
Who should be taking this class?
This class will hopefully have 15 units
Each unit will be accompanied by a worksheet
that has a reading section, a speaking and a grammar section.
You don't have to do the homework…
The homework is not there to stop you…
The homework is there as extra… for three reasons.
The first reason is - the number one, number one best way
to improve your language skills, that you already have, is reading.
When I first started learning German,
the first thing that helped me get vocabulary….
Their difficult grammar structures,
all of those things that are different
between English and German -
was repeatedly seeing the same thing on the page.
That is to say I am a visual learner and it's so important
for me to see the words for me to understand them.
You, on the other hand, may be an
audio learner or kinesthetic learner.
That means you need to use it and that's the way
that you gain access to the information.
If you're an audio learner then the video
lesson should be plenty for you to do.
And you should also be using the speaking section,
because even though it has a fill in the blank section—
or something like that,
it's meant to give you questions
that you can then ask a native speaker.
and get feedback.
And also meant for you to practice your answers.
So you'll see a question, like "what do you do?"
and that's a very common question
that natives ask each other
So you should be able to use that
question any time you need it.
As well as to be able to answer that question.
Well? What do you do?
I (hopefully) am teaching you English,
and speech - public speaking.
And the next point is… Second reason to do the homework
is if you're a kinesthetic learner.
Kinesthetics is the physical —
you know, some people they can't learn to make a cake from a recipe…
They just need to do it…
Sometimes there are certain things…
I need to put the flour in the bowl
otherwise, I just don't get it.
For kinesthetic learners language acquisition can be difficult.
One of the helpful ways to learn a language
is by writing things out.
That is, when you're taking notes
we all have smartphones these days, you can just take a picture
of the word and the definition. You can…
save it all in a file somewhere. But
sadly,
repeatedly writing
the same word again and again, writing sentences --
This is a kinesthetic way of teaching your hand
muscle memory,
giving you the ability
to recall the information
even when you don't necessarily
remember it in your mind.
Your hand remembers it for you. Interesting, right?
There are three methods of learning: visual, auditory and kinesthetic.
Those three methods will appear in the video and the homework.
When it comes to checking the homework…
before we get to when it comes to checking the homework
let's talk about my three rules.
I do have three rules for my students.
Before we talk about my three rules [laughter]
Who should be taking this class?
This class is for
pre-intermediate, intermediate and advanced.
If you're pre-intermediate and you're watching this video
you will understand every third word
that I'm saying and maybe the speed
will be a little fast.
That's okay.
You don't have to understand everything.
In fact videos are great because you can watch them again and again.
I'm not saying you should do that.
I'm just saying
for pre-intermediate
a video tutorial is helpful because unlike a class
you can go back and watch it agin.
So pre-intermediate - that's for you.
Intermediate.
Intermediate should understand everything I say.
I am speaking pretty slowly.
When I get excited or nervous, which I am,
I do tend speak a little faster.
But I am trying to make sure that you can
understand pretty much everything I say.
There are going to be words you don't know.
For example, kinesthetics is not a common word.
Teachers use it.
You may hear about it if you're studying, because it's a study word.
but if you can understand from the context
what kinesthetic means,
that's more important than knowing the actual word.
In fact, even in your own language,
we don't necessarily all share the same vocabulary.
Some of us read more, some of us
watch more TV.
Slang is different in different areas.
But we get a general understanding of the other person.
The problem is when you are not a native speaker,
context is difficult
and speaking speed is difficult.
As we progress through the videos,
I will be a speaking a little more quickly.
Hopefully, you won't even notice.
The point is that as you watch more of the videos
and as you practice more of the speaking,
you yourself will improve, even to the degree where
I can speak in a native natural pace -
Which is much more like this.
And you won't notice that I've sped up.
That's the goal at the end of the course.
See if you notice.
As for advanced students.
Advanced students - this should seem slow to you
and in fact, if possible, you should try to watch this at 1.2 or 1.5 (speed)
and see if you can still understand me enough.
There shouldn't be a problem.
If you're in the advanced, the reading is actually really important
Much more important than the other two levels
because from the other two levels I only expect them to read about…
For pre-intermediate only the pronunciation part.
For the intermediate half of the article,
because it's one article pre lesson.
For the advanced - if you can read the whole article-
that would really improve your vocab,
your sentence structure - especially the small prepositions.
Like 'for' 'to' 'before' all those prepositions.
Because English prepositions don't make sense.
They don't make sense in a way that
English has actually had to bend its own rules,
changing them because it's a living language
and they don't make sense anymore…
You will be able to make the same sentence
using 'for' and 'of' and no one would be able to tell you
why it should be one or the other
unless they're grammar champions.
If you know a grammar champion - congratulate them.
That's all you can do.

Meditate with Sadhguru - The Reasons You Turned Your Intelligence Against You - Duration: 15:24.
humanity falls back on violence time and again and we fall into these cycles
where we keep turning to violence I'm just wondering what are we as
individuals lacking of why do we as part of the society allow these patterns to
keep repeating oh there are many ways to look at this one simple fact we need to
acknowledge any Sun for a she was talking about gazelles
so far the gazelle to become a giraffe it took many many millions of years for
a pig to become an elephant it took many more million years but for a monkey to
become a human being it took a very short time in terms of evolution we
jumped hop skipped and jumped because of this right now we have arrived at a
state of intelligence which without the necessary stability right now human
intelligence is working against human beings it has to work for us means we
have to create a stable platform people have not strived for it cultures have
not brought it into themselves to bring stability into the human being so that
this intelligence will work for us not against us right now when we talk about
stress when we talk about anger when we talk about various other forms of
violence which happen continuously human being within a human being and 1/10 of a
verse out on the street it doesn't burst out every day but it's
happening every day in a whole lot of human beings if this intelligence has to
work productively for human life a stable base has to be created
unfortunately we have not strived for the stable base and as time goes by as
societies get more affluent across the world you will see the stability is one
thing that they are sacrificing an unstable human being with an in sharp
intelligence becomes destructive so one thing most important thing that we have
to strive for to create a stable physiological chemical and energy base
for every human being this must start as early as possible in
one's life i I see particularly affluent societies anywhere in United States more
largely but in the urban centers in India also you can see this happening in
a rampant way today one thing that youth lack is stability without stability our
intelligence in intellect and intelligence is like a knife if you know
how to hold it it can do predictive work if you do all this it will rip yourself
up right now our own intelligence is ripping us up and when something rips us
they also sometimes want to rip other people do unto others what we do unto
ourselves people do it and pleasant things to themselves and unpleasant
things to everybody so the former's thing that is necessary if you want to
stop or if you want to put violence down to a minimum level on the planet if
elimination is out of question at least if you want to put it to minimum the
foremost thing is we have to produce more stable human beings otherwise our
intelligence has become counterproductive because the
evolutionary skip you heard about the missing link you know evolution has kept
when it comes to human beings suddenly we have evolved in a big way from
whatever from a gorilla to a chimpanzee to who we are today in terms of DNA we
are only one point two three percent different from a chimpanzee but in terms
of our intelligence we are phenomenally different
we are not able to handle the difference this difference can be only handled if
we invest a certain amount of time and energy towards stabilizing individual
human beings there's a whole lot of unstable human beings going around if
they were like any other creature stomachful
they would be settled but once your human stomach fool doesn't settle you
stomach empty only one problem stomach full 100 problems this is the
nature of the human being because he does not settle by fulfilling survival
process this one will not settle by fulfilling survival process this has to
be brought to stability to seek more profound things when your intelligence
does not seek something more than survival it becomes violent do not
understand violence is only shooting at someone killing someone no the very very
very existing is violence the very very existing on this planet the way we live
is violent to every other creature on this planet if that violence has to go
there must be more stable humanity then we will do only what's needed right now
our access itself is violence everything is in excess nobody knows what is really
the need of an individual human being everybody is comparing himself to
somebody else and in constant state of excess which is violence you must listen
to the birds and the worms and the insects and the trees they all have
terrible stories to tell about us really very terrible top stories you must
report this
Bad News correspondent I thought you're going to tweet today
very good you have it do you tweet oh yeah sometimes okay yeah I'll tweet
and you retweet
to be able to examine ourselves and see where we are coming I've been meditating
for many many years and that's a very important ritual for me I love naps in
fact I have instituted to nap rooms in our news room and so people can go and
have a nap if the middle of the afternoon they can have 15-20 minutes to
recharge but I think that's where this is very individually each person it
would be imagined with a disaster as people think because Sadhguru can sleep
for two hours I should be able to do that too because then you can probably
drive yourself into the ground and get really sick but if you have we are
connected with ourselves we will know what works for us and then you find out
what works for each one of you I mean what what works for me will be different
than what works for you what works for any human being there but I know for me
my cocktail includes adequate sleep meditation my yoga my walking and hiking
that I love wherever I can get the mountain I love to hike on it you should
try my yoga sleep will come down okay I'll try it I'll try your yoga
I love to try anything so I would definitely love to try your yoga and
then discover what is it in each of our lives that creates a state of mind and
instead of being from which you can be most creative most loving most
compassionate and most effective we all know those feelings and and we know when
we were just kind of like zombies walking through the day getting tasks
done without joy and and real creativity and most people at the moment seem to be
suffering from what has been described as time family they are constantly
feeling but they're running out of time who had a beautiful blog post in our
parent section from a mother who wrote and a piece that went insanely viral
about the day she stopped saying hurry up to her child she realized that the
two words she talked she said most often to her six-year-old - hurry up hurry up
and have your breakfast hurry up and go to school hurry up and have your dinner
hurry up and go to bed and she wrote very movingly about the moment she
realized what what am i doing to my child and the piece has been read by
seven million people he's got over a million likes on Facebook because it
really resonated with something in all of us that feels we're doing that to
ourselves - we are telling ourselves hurry up it's like we're running out of
time everything being done breathlessly and if we can change that it helps bring
that state of peace that ultimately is going to affect the whole world I mean
either one of them the quarter has stayed with me all my life was by
Alexander Solzhenitsyn in his first in his one of his novels when he said if
you wanted to change the world who would you begin with yourself or others and we
all want to begin with others because you know we could just tell them what to
do we can judge them and it's harder to be on this journey of changing ourselves
it's not the question of wanting to change ourselves into something because
if you say I want to change myself what do i team myself into you set up some
values and morals and ethics and whatever else all these things have
substitutes that we have found for an effervescent humanity within ourselves
we don't have to try to change ourselves we are human if we give it the necessary
ambience both inward and outward a human being will become a full-fledged human
being see if an apple tree is here you don't have to every day tell the apple
tree please put your sweetness don't produce bitterness this is not needed if
you just provide the necessary ambience it will provide it will generate
sweetness so providing that ambulance outside is a challenge because then you
will have to change the world which doesn't happen in a day but changing the
inner ambience if you are willing it's right now so if you change the inner
ambience this human being becomes in a certain way there's a whole technology
as to how to bring this forth not just by changing attitudes because see right
now today there is a storm for us it may be rain or mist or something but in
reality the chemistry of the place has changed we experience as a dawn
downpour but essentially the chemistry of that MOSFET has changed similarly
similarly for every human experience there is a chemical basis we are talking
about a technology with which you can create a chemistry of blissfulness and
when you are blissful if I made anybody if you meet anybody when they're really
blissful they are definitely wonderful people
no question but if you meet the same person when he is miserable he could be
nasty you know this is true with every human being you know like we've for the
last 18 years we've been working in the prisons in South India and we also did a
little bit of work in United States today our programs are mandatory in the
prisons in southern India people keep asking me said guru why are you spending
so much time with these criminals we are all waiting you are not available as far
as I'm concerned I don't see any criminals all i sees every human being
is in pursuit of his happiness the man that you call as a criminal also in
pursuit of his happiness but he's pursuing it's far more vigorously than
you in pursuit of your happiness you are willing to stand in the line but he
wants to jump the line that's what becomes a crime but the important thing
is he's in pursuit of happiness for all more vigorously than you why is he
pursuing it so vigorously if he was feeling blissed-out right now would he
jump the queue would he do something else he would not right now the sense of
unpleasantness with the new is such unless you get what you want to get you
will not feel pleasant for a moment for that moment of pleasantness you are
willing to do all kinds of things so my experience with these people if you look
at their history sheets they have done terrible things if you let them out
tomorrow morning I believe at least 50% of them will do the same thing once
again at least 50% the other 50% might have changed and they have but when
there when I am with them in the prison they are absolutely marvelous people
because if you keep them happy if you keep any human being happy and pleasant
within himself you will see he will be truly wonderful in that moment but the
moment he feels unpleasant we think himself he will do all kinds of things
so in our effort to create a world that we want there is no such thing as world
is just you and me if you are me and peaceful the world is peaceful if you
want me am blissful the world is blissful but nobody seems to have the
patience to work one human being at a time because it's a lifelong commitment
but we want to do just one day slogan and forget about it it's never going to
work like that it'll remain a slogan forever if we really want peace if you
really want to create the kind of world that we want we have to work with
individual people there is no other way to do it
you
